PEACHIEEEEE!!!!!!! i am here, i am sat, i have a notepad and pen, and i am ready to hear whatever you want to share about setsuna. favorite food? does she have a sweet tooth? does she prefer hot weather or cold weather? cats, dogs, both, or neither?

if you've thought about her in a modern au/context: what would her job be? would she go to college? would she have tattoos/piercings? if she had an aesthetic what would it be? would she drink coffee?

Setsuna’s favorite foods — girl has a MASSIVE sweet tooth. Like huge. While she’s described as having a ✨hint✨ of abs, she doesn’t have any definition beyond her oblique line. Why?? Because she likes to eat and she likes sugar (and Mitsuri does NOT help this).

Traditional favorites include somen (chilled dip noodles), imagawayaki, and yatsuhashi. When she was Sanemi’s tsuguko, he did bring her onto ohagi, though she finds it a little messy. After Sanemi is fired as her teacher, she still buys ohagi on the DL and acts like she has no idea why smh.

Setsuna’s father was a well-known merchant who dealt heavily in Western goods, which was incredibly advantageous during the Taisho era. As a result, Setsuna also had access to western style sweets as a child and developed a taste for them! Her favorite are western style cakes and especially a lemon taffy her dad used to sneak her behind her mother’s back.

She and Mitsuri bond heavily over their love of food and often pig out together. Mitsuri treats Setsuna more as a live-in best friend than a tsuguko, and sometimes gets in trouble as a result 😭 even after Setsuna becomes a hashira, they frequently stay at one another’s estate’s!

Favorite weather — warmer, but not summer. She loves spring. Hates the snow/winter, but that has more to do with the events of the prologue for Wind and Moon than anything.

Animals — LOVES dogs, hates cats. This is where she and Mitsuri butt heads lmao. Mitsuri once caught her hissing back at a cat.

And some bonus factoids no one asked for:

She despises the fact she’s a demon slayer. She wanted to follow in her father’s footsteps and take over the family business. She is deeply unhappy to be in the role she’s in, and wishes she could leave/quit.

As her masters, both Sanemi and Mitsuri spoil her, in their own way. Sanemi because he lets her have a little free time every now and then and Mitsuri just pampers her.

The one year time skip in which she serves as Mitsuri’s tsuguko and ascends to hashira is the most healing for her. When Sanemi finally sees her again (after she becomes a Hashira) she is noticeably more at ease and smiles. He doesn’t know why that makes him feel embarrassed (yes he does lmao)

Hated her sword and honestly was overjoyed when it got blown to smithereens in the event that led to her being fired as Sanemi’s tsuguko. Doesn’t even care that it shattered her sword arm in the process, she was just so happy to be rid of it. Loves her naginata.

Speaking of Setsuna’s naginata — some say, if you look close enough at the hilt, you’ll see not just a small moon charm (she’s a lunar breath user so obviously) but also a charm that looks oddly similar to the Wind Hashira’s sword hilt….wonder what that’s about….

Here she is! The first pic is based off a reference I found on Pinterest — I wanted to test out a style closer to the kny illustration — I’m incredibly new at drawing, so I’m still trying to develop my own style!

This is Setsuna during her tsuguko days under Sanemi. She’s not been rendered yet and I’ve paused bc my iPad died. So this is incomplete lmao.

Her haori and her uniform are both courtesy of Sanemi. She changes however once she becomes a Hashira.

Here is her Hashira form (my style)

The main changes include her own haori, a shorter skirt, thigh high socks, an open shirt, and (most importantly) a weapon change.

She’ll also smile a lot more as a Hashira (once she gets a chance to heal a bit)

BUT GIRL I NEEDDDDDD a little post about what the hashira think about setsuna ishikuro and what she thinks about each of them. not with thr official kyn background that the other ones have, ik you're busyyyy. just a short post. it'll be so cute to see what sanemi thinks of his little tsuguko !

HOW ISHIKURO SETSUNA VIEWS THE OTHER PILLARS

The Sound Pillar— smug face that would make good target practice for a fist. Still hasn’t learned to keep his mouth shut. Decent fighter. (Still on her shit list).

The Stone Pillar: I don’t know him that well, but I respect him and his strength.

The Insect Pillar: we’ve gotten closer since I became a Hashira, and I’m glad for it. She’s shrewd and insightful in many ways, but she can be a little aloof when it comes to matters of the heart. Hardworking and exceedingly clever. Stronger than she looks.

The Wind Pillar: I respect him now just as much as I did when he was my master. Our breathing styles just didn’t mix well, but that wasn’t his fault. He was a good teacher, and he was able to handle my rage better than anyone. I trust him the most. …. I feel flustered when he looks at me.

The Love Pillar: I adore her. A little over-indulgent as a teacher and we probably deserved to get in more trouble than we did, but she’s the very best among friends. She used her experiences developing love breathing to help me get control over Lunar Breathing. Her command over her sword is something to admire.

The Water Pillar: who?

The Flame Pillar: good natured and encouraging. I see where Mitsuri gets it from. Very honorable. He’s a man I would trust the most, after the Wind Pillar.

The Serpent Pillar: he keeps his distance but I believe it’s out of respect, and I’m grateful for it. He frequented the Love Pillar’s estate for meals quite often while I was there.

HOW THE OTHER HASHIRA VIEW ISHIKURO SETSUNA

The Sound Pillar: Flamboyant when she fights. Sharp-tongued. Looks like Shinazugawa when she scowls. I still stand by my earlier comment, though I won’t say it out loud anymore.

The Stone Pillar: remarkably more at ease than when she first joined the Corps. Her outward confidence tends to mask her shy and gentle heart. She returns the Wind Pillar’s strong feelings.

The Insect Pillar: she is still haunted by her past, but she smiles more easily now. I enjoy her company. She’s become a good friend.

The Wind Pillar: she’s grown into her role as the Lunar Hashira very well. We spar often. I look forward to our meetings. Still as stubborn as she was as a tsuguko, but her rebellious streak seems to have flamed out. I think time with the Love Pillar was good for her. Strong and capable, but I still worry for her. …. she looks good.

The Love Pillar: my dearest friend! The best tsuguko a girl could ask for! She was a fast learner and a total softie once her shell cracked! As beautiful as the moon, and I admire her deeply!

The Water Pillar: i haven’t talked to her much. She once forgot we’d already been introduced.

The Flame Pillar: a worthy heir to the lunar breath clan! Powerful with her techniques and her weapon is magnificent!

The Serpent Pillar: I tend to stay away because of what the Wind Pillar said, but she’s quite strong and seems to have progressed well under the Love Pillar. She has my respect.

BONUS!

The Stone Pillar on the Wind Pillar, Sanemi Shinazugawa: He possesses a strong will and is honest at heart. He’s a bashful person. He is in love with the Lunar Pillar.

Setsuna Ishikuro is the Reader in Wind and Moon (or maybe the Reader in WAM is Setsuna — that’s probably the more accurate way to put it)

Setsuna is/was the daughter of a wealthy merchant family and she was being primed to take over her father’s business when her elder brother died. He was supposed to be a demon slayer and carry on the lunar breathing tradition, but he fell ill and died before he could partake in Final Selection. Setsuna is very resentful that she was forced to assume his place because she wanted to be a merchant like her father. Because of her upbringing, she has bougie tastes lmao. She loves things — expensive baubles, art, silks, kimonos, you name it.

When she’s reassigned to be Mitsuri’s tsuguko after the Incident (in which she’s fired as Sanemi’s tsuguko), she and Mitsuri bond over their mutual love of food. Setsuna still can navigate the merchant world, so she uses her connections to allow Mitsuri to try more western food (and both girls love sweets). They pig out together quite frequently.

Loves hanging out with women, but because of the events of the prologue (and as you’ll see in the next chapter) Setsuna =/= getting along with men. She’s afraid of them, but that fear comes out as extreme coldness and disgust. However, when she’s cornered, she freezes. Sanemi and Ubayashiki are basically the exception (though she does warm up to Kyojuro eventually). Despises Tengen because he makes an unsavory and poor-timed comment about her body (that he regrets instantly — he wasn’t thinking)

She is drawn to Sanemi because of their ✨ moment✨ in the prologue after she dug herself out of her own grave. He saw her and she recognized that.

Once Setsuna gets over some of her own anger/rage, she’s quite considerate and kind! She had one younger sister who died horrifically (again, see the prologue for Wind and Moon), and she misses her dearly. Because of that, Setsuna is very kind to children. She’s also quite thoughtful in her own way, even if she can be a little shy about her feelings. She observes Sanemi’s penchant for matcha and takes care to send him really high quality stuff even in the year they don’t see each other — though she doesn’t tell him who it’s from.
