#OC: Icewhisker

Although she had a reference already for ArtFight, I decided to make a new one for my first ever WCOC, Stormstar

I also made a concept sketch of a possible more monster-y form for her since she can turn into a monster

Back when I first created her in 2014, she was a pretty generic villain who came into power by killing other cats and had an affiliation with the Dark Forest. But by late 2014, I got into MAPs (Warrior Cats ones and OC ones) and I remember seeing a lot of OCs in OC MAPs who had some sort of ability to transform or were transformed later in their life to some sort of monster and I loved it as a kid

So (I kid you the fuck not) had Stormstar go into a pool of neon green toxic sludge/acid since the Dark Forest had told her to do so and it turned her into a monster. In her original monster form, she had skeleton paws (since the acid had burned off her paws... a little graphic I know...), horns, and bat/dragon wings

I would like to do a sketch of her original monster form but I did one that was actually inspired by the Marshal Dear Mapleshade MAP (very specifically from 2:24-2:30) because after I saw that MAP/those parts, I drew Dark Forest cats as kind of goopy for so long (up until 2017 I think?) so I wanted to go do that again. I feel like I probably drew her as a kind of goopy cat at one point back then, but by the time I started doing that, it wouldn't be long until I stopped using Stormstar in favor of Lavenderpelt in mid 2015. I'm also just trying to see what I want to do for a monster form for her current story and I thought it was a good start

I did one sketch based off of her current story where the goop is a black liquid as she walks into a mysterious dark pool that was connected to the Dark Forest to become a monster. She can go back to being a normal cat this time though but just with dark spots (see the kit version of her for her original spots). I do remember a version of Stormstar back then with lighter spots that turned darker as she got older, but I think that was me trying to symbolize being corrupted by the Dark Forest and not powers since she got the powers once her spots were already black. But I also did do an alternate version that was based off of the original toxic sludge that I thought was fun. Might keep the second version as an alt when I'm not drawing her in a story context

4. Do you have any OCs? Do you have a story for them?

it's funny that u ask cause i feel like this is a perfectly normal and reasonable question and most ppl would have an oc to talk abt but honestly i have. none ??? skdjfldsfjk like idk the only time i can ever think of where i came up with A Character Of My Own was the warrior cats rp forum i was on many many MANY moons ago called icewhisker and she was blind?? iirc? and that's about all i can remember lsdjflksjdfk but i haven't made an oc since lmao

8. How slow is a slow burn?

ahhh the age-old question...honestly, i'll give the worst answer, which is 'it depends' lmaooo. for me at least, i'm not strongly opinionated one way or another so long as it's convincing? like, i could be convinced that a week is a slow-burn, if the author writes it well. i think it's also a bit dependent on the characters and what they're set up to feel and believe? like, there are def some characters where if u told me they took a month to get into a relationship i'd be like damn okay SERIOUS slow burn right there lmao

17. Past or present tense? Why?

okay this one i do actually have Strong Opinions on (at least for my own writing) - present tense, always lmaooo. i enjoy writing stories that feel very immersive and 'in the moment', and for me, that comes across best when it's present tense - the reader becomes the characters in that moment, experiencing the surroundings and emotions at the same time as the characters rather than through a lens of separation (which i feel like past tense inserts). sometimes, the right tense for the story is past tense, don't get me wrong, and there's def a number of fics i've read and dearly loved that are past tense, but for me personally, i'm present tense enjoyer lmao

I wanted to doodle something more low stakes before going back into God of War and new OC projects so here’s a bust of my favorite ClanGen Mountainsky. (It was going to be a full body drawing and then I decided I didn’t want to do that)

She’s the medicine cat of NightClan, one of my four clans including DawnClan, DayClan, and DuskClan. NightClan is my favorite to play as of right now, I’ve actually made it to a genuine “gen 2” stage with it which I consider an accomplishment considering that I’ll restart clans at the drop of a hat

She is the mate of Icewhisker, a warrior who later becomes Icestar. Medicine cats having families is not taboo in my clans because that’s dumb so they had seven children, but only one survived to adulthood, a she-cat named Goldencherry.

Mountainsky never saw Icewhisker become Icestar as she died of redcough just before the previous leader, Shadestar, died of the disease as well. She did appear in his leadership ceremony, along with a few of their kits and gave him a life for devotion. Sadly, just after the ceremony Goldencherry too was taken by yellowcough and worse yet, she had been carrying her own first litter of kits at her death

Moons later during a vicious storm, a devastated Icestar dully watched the snow from the mouth of NightClan’s caverns, when he saw something odd. It was like a patch of flakes had chosen to break from the pattern of snowfall, and swirl around one other in the wind until they formed a shape. Before it had finished Icestar knew what it was: Mountainsky, come back to him. He ran into the blizzard, ignoring any cries after him. He chased after the mirage until it led him to a hidden burrow. There, two newborn kits lay abandoned

That’s where we are right now! Still love Mountainsky even though she’s gone, but hey, she’s Warrior Cats gone so she’s still around. Also I obviously don’t get invested in this game at all and will now be shifting my attention to God of War. God my interests are consistent

I have an OC named Shadowfeather who was born as a rogue, then adopted by ThunderClan at 3 moons old when her father died and her mother abandoned her. Appearance: fluffy gray pelt and dark blue eyes.

Cinderfrost - This introverted she-cat can be distant at times, often preferring their own company to that of others, but once you get to know her you realise she cares deeply for her clan mates. She’s a great hunter, she can sneak up on prey so silently she can sometimes get less than a tail length away before they realise she is there, 15/10

Icewhisker - This tom is proud and wise. Many look up to him and he’s always willing to sit down with a cat and help them with their problems. He’s a great fighter, he knows when his enemy is beaten and will never go too far, he is a great believer in mercy and much prefers using words rather than claws to solve disputes, 14/10
