"— What choice have I but to court the thrill of adventure and the sorrow of loss? Character Aesthetic.
Random Tidbits About Saeph
His hair gets wavy when it's wet.
Although he's lived a long life and is very in-tune with nature, he depends on the Wood Elves for guidance in herbalism and his connection to Arda.
He has a dappled tri-coloured cat named Dumpling and an emotional support pheasant called Jeri. Both are over his nonsense.
Saeph's kind of depressing lately, but he has a lot going on and has learned to do things on his own and not depend on the powers that be to save the world from the Dark. You'll most often find him quietly sitting down at events, enjoying the ambience. At least he still has his humour, right?
Roads? What roads? He enjoys jumping off cliffs and running through mobs of Orcs ( or shooting an arrow at an Elite's bootyhole on accident, because he just auto'd for no reason ) to get to places quickly.
If there's one area he despises, it's Moria ( sorrynotsorry ).
Fishing is a relaxing pastime for him, although he's coming to enjoy birding. And, of course, when in Lothlorien, he enjoys his time in the gardens with little Miss Rosie.
He may travel alone, but he gets enjoyment out of meeting people and spending time with friends, new and old.
He's rich, but all of his money goes to stables ( because those are expensive AF ). He loots everything in sight and sells all the goods. But he'd still live his best life if he was broke as a joke. There's nothing a hobbit dance can't fix.
#i'm still working on his bio so this will have to do for now#lotro#lotro oc#lotro rp#saephrond#oc character development#rp character builder#rp aesthetics#tolkien rp#character aesthetic#character moodboard

Patch thoughts:
It’s been a while since I’ve posted here, but I’ve been writing a fic with Patch in it, and I’ve had a lot of thoughts on his character development recently, so I thought I’d share! When I post the next chapter, I’ll probably post a link here as well!
Patch is an original 104th member (pre-Malevolence); he was in the escape pod with Wolffe (in his medic grays) when the Malevolence attacked, and has some related trauma
Appearance: has a sole patch on his chin (like Waxer’s, but rounder), hair slightly longer than regulation (just a bit of grey); he’s slightly less active than his brothers, so he’s not a stick like most clones; (his metabolism is also starting to slow down, being one of the older clones). His armor has a grey stripe on the chin like his sole patch, and his paint is wolfpack grey, except for one of his gloves, which has a stripe of red paint.
Patch is very warm and affectionate around his brothers (great bedside manner), but can lash out in anger a little bit when he’s triggered; has dealt with depression in the past, but is doing a lot better nowadays
Has aviophobia (fear of flying/dying in something that flies), and definitely had a panic attack the last time he tried going on a Jedi cruiser
Was struggling mentally after the Malevolence, but it came to a head at the Battle of Khorm, when he lost his last batchmate, Blunt, and developed depression. During this time, his aviophobia got bad to the point that he had to be sedated anytime he went on a gunship.
Through some finagling, General Plo managed to get him reassigned to Coruscant, where he was stationed at the Coruscant Medical facility, and took classes to be a rehab specialist (although he’s still officially listed as a member of the 104th). The 104th, being a rescue battalion, is on-planet more often than most, so he still gets to see them fairly often.
Saw mindhealers at the jedi temple for a while, where he learned multiple grounding techniques to combat his aviophobia, including eating a mint, listening to music, and the occasional fidget toy (he likes the textured ones). He’s more than happy to share his coping strategies with his vode, and can use CBT strategies as part of his training as a rehab specialist (although isn’t certified as a mental health specialist).
After the Umbara campaign, multiple 501st troopers are needing PT/OT services, so when Rex sends out the temporary assignment request, Patch accepts (he’s doing better mentally now, and has been wanting to face his fears and hopefully join the 104th full-time soon, now that his rehab specialist training is done)
Doesn’t like taking off his armor because of Malevolence-related trauma, and only really does so to sleep; sleeps with a weighted blanket gifted to him by General Plo (bunks near Tup and Dogma when with the 501st)
Is on temporary assignment with the 501st (in my fic); hopes to rejoin the 104th afterwards, assuming he can handle living on a Jedi cruiser again
has a lot of old-man habits, and constantly acts like he’s 50-years old instead of barely 26 standards
#clone medic patch#this blog is only slightly dead#rehab specialists would be similar to physical therapy or occupational therapy#aviophobia#I promise patch isn't just bones from star trek#but i've already written one scene heavily inspired by him and it makes me happy#clone trooper oc#clone oc#OC Character Development

Outta the way! The kings of Metal are charging in! 🤘🏼Meet Steel Stampede, fronted by the legendary Grant Ruffalo. In the world of Rock & Roar, heavy metal music was originated by, and belongs to, animals with horns, and that’s the origin of the “🤘🏼” hand symbol. The last image is a drawing of Grant from all the way back in 2013. Miles will meet these guys in chapter 4!

Get to Know Your Character
Here are some questions to consider for character development:
What parts of their childhood trigger them?
How do they treat themselves when they're feeling sad?
What parts of themselves do they tend to hide?
How do they punish themselves when they make mistakes?
Who are they loyal to? Why?
Who do they avoid? Why?
What emotions or situations do they try to avoid? Why?
What angers them?
What are their insecurities?
What are their emotional triggers?
How do they feel about love?
What are their fears?
What is their relationship with their family like?
What kind of people do they tend to gravitate towards?
What do they like/dislike about themselves?
Happy writing ❤

Want simple tips to heavily improve your skills with character voice??
(📝Note: character voice is the way you convey your character's personality though their pov or dialogue when you write. No two characters speak the same📝)
I speak from experience when I say character voice is hard to get right. Characters, like people, have lots of layers that affect the way they see the world around them and how they interact with other characters. That's why character voice is so important in stories, and why if you write it in a compelling and effective way it will hook people into your story. I hope you learn something new in this post!!
When writing character voice, there's a list of things that you should take into account:
Where are they from? Their past and what they've lived plays a huge part in character voice. Maybe your character grew by the ocean, and so they compare things from the present to the beach, the rocks or the sea itself. You will rarely read about a sailor that is an expert in pants and compares scents to flowers. They might, instead, talk about how a house smells like the wet wood of a ship.
Think about how their personality shapes their language. If they are insecure, they might end most of their sentences with "isn't it?" or "right?" and ask a lot of questions, whereas if you have a confident character, you might find them saying things like "we should do this" or "that will be fun" instead.
What their "lense" is. This is more of an ethic aspect of the character. What have they learn it's okay, and what do they find uncomfortable? Would they find it gross if their friend left laundry on the floor?
Give them special traits (both for dialogue and narration). Maybe character A quotes a lot when they narrate and uses long paragraphs, or maybe B speaks about their past a lot and uses popular sayings. Personally, one character of mine has the tendency to repeat himself when he speaks, as in "yeah, yeah, I'll do it" or "no, no, no. Never" because he is really enthusiastic, and it fits really well with his character.
Pay attention to how they would talk about themselves. Maybe your character doesn't like people to know they're sad because it makes them feel vulnerable, so they will just say they feel annoyed or don't want to talk in that moment. This also means that they will not tell the reader something they are not comfortable saying in the first place.
How is their education? Education is also very important in this context. Did they went to university and have a rich vocabulary and structured sentences, or where they rised in a little farm far from town? You can also play with both a bit: maybe your character did go to university, but maybe they also came from a low income family, and characteristic of both things merge when they talk. Example: long, structured, sentences but a simple and sight forward vocabulary.
That's all for now and happy writing!!

Here are my latest sketches of Layla!
Layla the monkey plays the synthesizer in the band and is perhaps the most innovative member - and the funniest. This playful comedian plays a vital role in bringing an upbeat - and often loud - energy onboard the tour bus. Her confidence and outgoing personality make her essential for forming connections between her band and other musicians that she may meet along the way.
Layla has an eye for design, and is fascinated by color, texture, and anything that sparkles. She is always trying on creative looks and styles, and isn't afraid to be bold with her costuming choices. If anything is new on the fashion scene, she’s the first to hear about it, and when it comes to music, she is likewise always on the cutting edge. With an open mind and fearless attitude, she expresses great curiosity towards anything she hasn’t seen or heard before, and loves to change things up.
