Deadly they may be, foxgloves always make me smile
They are at their peak during my birthday and always bring back happy memories

Today I learned that in Norway, Digitalis common name can be translated to "fox-bell" or "fox-music" because norwegian stories say that fairies showed to foxes how to ring the bell-shaped flower to warn each other of hunters, and I thought it was a cute fun fact.
Meanwhile this was not taken in Norway but in the french forests near Paris but maybe it can be useful to the french foxes as well.

Common Foxgloves (Digitalis purpurea) blooming in the last days of the Carnival of Flowers display. Photo credit: Eleanor Chua.
This was taken against the red section of a carousel with the exposure biased a stop darker to keep highlights. Shadows were then brightened a tad in post.

Foxgloves are blooming in the poison garden! In western folklore the poisonous foxglove is one of the herbs traditionally harvested at midsummer as a charm of protection against evil, illness, and harm.
A simple way to do this would be to make a flower bouquet for your home around midsummer —it will look beautiful while protecting you and your home from all ills. When the flowers start to fade, you can dry them and use them in protection sachets hidden in your house, vehicle, or purse. Then replace them next year and start again!
