For every mentally painful part of your life, there is always a funny cringey silver lining.

Early this year I was in a borderline suicidal mood from having to deal with expectations from family and also failing to live up to my own visions on what success looks like to me.

I was still watching anime around that time and I decided to tackle one of the big ones of classic anime: Neon Genesis Evangelion. I don't really have anything to take away from Eva except that it was a very sad and weird experience. I watched the movie "End if Evangelion" and the climax of the movie was a cataclysmic rebirth of the world. And the song that backed this experience, Komm Susser Tod, had my brain in a vice grip for weeks.

It is foremost a banger and very catchy. But the important part is that it is a BAD END song. The song is hopelessly negative and does not grant any sparkle of hope at all. It all returns to nothing. And that is that.

That song made everything a million times worse for my mental state. Yes it REally does return to nothing. I just keep letting me down. Letting me down. Letting me down.

Fast forward maybe two or three weeks after this, and I tuned in to my favourite streamer, a Vtuber named Nyanners. She is a soft spoken catgirl and also has a self professed humiliation kink. Nyanners loves to be embarrassed and make a fool of herself. For a couple weeks leading up to this stream, she claimed she would be milking herself live on stream. Nobody knew what to expect.

Come the day and she had assembled a strange array of equipment, and several glass vials to collect her "milk". And then she proceeded to show a pink rubber glove she had filled with... a liquid(?), saying these were her teats and she would milk them. What followed was two hours of the most strange media I've ever watched online. Hypnotic affirmations, Tibetan throat singing, the most jarring glove on glass vial ASMR and then Nyanners declaring she was going to go into a different dimension thanks to our wishes spirit bombing her to a higher existence.

And then she ended the stream with her own cover of Komm Susser Tod.

It was the biggest coincidence that this song had only just made its way into my life, and it was ruining me. But in the context of the most fucked up media I'd consumed online, it gained a new meaning.

It wasn't that life is meaningless. That loving oneself was hopeless because you are a cursed person.

Being your most cursed self is life. You don't cut out that part of you that is cringey. You cut out the part of you that cringes.

I may be cringe. But I am free. Thankyou Nyanners.
