Lindil Nurtar Caumawë, Spouse of Maglor

Maglor was another of the sons of Fëanor to be married. Well, a text mentions a wife. I have headcannons under the cut. Lindil is less developed than my other spouses.

Lindil is a trans guy. However, people tend to assume he is a woman and refer to him as Maglor’s wife to both of their frustrations.

None of these names he used as a child. His mother and father name were changed with input from his family to something more gender-neutral than they had previously been, and his epesse was a gift from his in-laws. More on that later.

He and Maglor were sourting for near 200 years before they married, an exceptionally long time and one which caused as many rumours as otherwise.

They have been together since before Curufin was even born, but the Ambarussa were of age by the time they actually married.

Part of the reason for this is their relationship has never been about having a relationship. They were best friends, and the courting was convenience. Maglor had a polite reason to turn down those seeking to court them, and Lindil didn’t need to worry about ‘concerned’ people pestering him about how ‘its such a shame you dress like that; a pretty girl like you could get a husband so easily if you just dressed properly’. Neither problem completely went away, but it helped.

In time, they realised they had come to actually enjoy spending so much time together, and also the activities associated with a relationship, so actually got around to formalising it. Not that the way they treated each other reall changed.

The name Caumawë was given to him by Maedhros after Aqualonde, as thanks for saving Curufin from a boat-book.

Curufin was very, very annoyed about this.

He did not come to Beleriand; partly due to Curufin’s annoyance with him, and partly on Maglor’s insistance. He tried to insist that Maglor stayed too, but by that point the Oath was already made. Maglor made him promise to stay, as a reason for Maglor to fight hard to come home.

They then staged a massive argument, so that people would by the whole thing. Still, the stigma of being married to one of the Fëanorians drove him to mostly hide with Nerdanel for the rest of time.
