idk where people are getting jealous from the look boston gives nick and daddy dan. it’s very clearly a huge moment of processing for him. no one has ever told him they love him for who he really is, it’s been far more conditional for boston than that. even his friends love him despite who he is - which isn’t real love. and also i don’t think despite the objectively bad things nick did to him that he was ready to just watch him walk out of his life.

at the end of the day nick was right that boston needs to be loved, not changed. it’s very clear that a lot of boston’s prior and recent hookups have projected their own feelings on to him - which is where he gets so much ick when people like him. the obvious presumption is that nick was just the same but that idea comes crashing down when he tells ton he loves him for exactly who he is.

i also think whilst boston certainly didn’t love nick yet he was developing feelings before he cut him off. and held on to them after. he usually keeps people at an arms length via his own admittance but kept so many traces of nick around. a privilege afforded to no one else - even his supposed best friends.

my guess is that that endgame love develops the more nick shows him he loves him for him and that that’s not conditional. but for ton to suddenly be controlling and jealous would blow that point out of the water. i could certainly see daddy dan being a prompt for him realising he maybe wants something more exclusive with nick. but you can love people and not be monogamous so we’ll see where they go with that.

but regardless mew and ray are there to contrast boston. they try to play and pretend that they’re these free spirited people who don’t care just to get back at the people they care the most about. boston was never being “sexually promiscuous” to hurt anybody - especially nick. he told him on countless occasions he doesn’t fuck with jealous, controlling people. no the reason he doesn’t open his heart to anyone is very very clearly deep seated trauma - camera pans to his father.

my hope for boston is that he’s able to heal that part of himself that constantly wants to run away (new york, relationships, fucking over his friends) which they’re clearly setting up is going to happen with nick. it was boston who admitted he missed nick - which isn’t him changing who he fundamentally is but it is him growing and we love to see it!!!!!!
