What are some fun lesser known historical places to visit in Moscow that you recommend?
I visied Krutitsy Metochion some years ago and it was great, a very Old Russian feel there. Other than that... maybe the Novodevichy Convent, Kolomensky park (esp. beautiful when apple trees are in bloom). Oh, there's a Leo Tolstoy house in Khamovniki which I enjoyed, it has a very nice little park.
I'm not super familiar with Moscow if I'm honest. When I visit, I like to just wander through the streets randomly and see what I can find.

The Novodevichy Convent in south-western Moscow, built in the 16th and 17th centuries in the so-called Moscow Baroque style. Unlike other Moscow cloisters, it has remained virtually intact since the 17th century. In 2004, it was proclaimed a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Photos by Charles Reeza, 2008.
