Thes racist far right cunts are fucking setting hotels on fire and attacking people and a mob of these shitstains set up fucking race verification for people driving on a certain road, asking drivers if they are white or british. Mosques are being attacked and no area is fucking safe because even if your area hasnt got a group of neonazis gathering this weekend, the inevitable rise in racist, Islamophobic hate crimes might, with the widespread acts of blatant hatred and racism of this weekend inspiring some fuckers to act out their racist and violent fantasy's.
Hell I wrote this then stepped away to look more stuff up and those more individual hate crimes are already happening, people getting dragged of busses and dragged out of cars and stabbed. Don't let anyone make you think the blame for this doesn't lie on the government's militant anti immigration stances, and their Racism and Islamophobia, as well as on the press and news media that perpetuates the same bigoted bullshite. Social media is absolutely a factor but don't let the entire blame be put on it and ignore the racism in the government and mainstream news. Not to mention reports of police threatening & assaulting counter protesters and waving to fascists they know.
My heart goes out to the immigrant, black and Muslim communities and people that are the focus of this vile hatred and violence, as well as those people who are isolated from their communities in the countryside. Noone should ever have to go this and yet our government and news are hellbent on fanning the flames of hatred that lead to awful events like this
The far right racist and xenophobic riots [im not fucking calling them protests] that have been happening here across the uk are fucking disgusting. Some small good measures are being put in place [extra security for Mosques] but the fact that this country is so deeply racist needs to be fucking adressed and dealt with. the far right protesters are already being arrested and tried, however I wonder how many counter protesters will also be dragged into the court rooms with the aim of 'fairness' despite in several cases being there to protect the hotels and communities first, and having to be human barriers before the cops eventually show up

this might sound shitty and/or insane but i can’t wait until enough time has passed to actually get more solid answers on the psychological impact of not only covid but like, really living at all in the last 5-10 years
like we all joke about how we’re tired of living through unprecedented times but like seriously. what is that looking like generationally when you take a step back, in comparison to other generations
like yes of course other generations have lived through their own unprecedented times and it’s not to downplay any horrible things that have happened in history but specifically, now we have unfettered access to atrocity. it exists in our pockets and is broadcasted and i am so deeply fascinated by how that difference changes the psychological impact

I've always known the Amish are big dog "breeders" but it's only in the last year or so that I've heard first hand accounts of how absolutely awful they are to their animals and yea....... no more Amish stuff from the farmers market for me ever.

actually maybe its kind of weird to expect transmascs to immediately start saying transmisogynist shit when presented with a useful transmasc resource. im not saying there arent shitheads like that out there, there are shitheads of all stripes on the internet and some of those stripes are transmisogynist trans people, but pre-emptively going on the defensive on a post that contains nothing except resources for DIY is maybe a little telling about your assumptions of how transmascs act

i've decided to invent a new term: afabsbian, aka an afab person who id's as lesbian but exclusively/only brings up their attraction towards other afab people and never mentions transfem people.

Ok stupid question but I had to ask BC I love the way you answer things haha 💓💓 (Sorry if that was worded weirdly)
So Jonesy (I think that's the dog's name in House of Wax) from all the Sinclair brothers who do you Jonesy likes the most and who do you think likes Jonesy the best?
it's not weird at all!! now that my HOW brainworms are back, any excuse to ramble incoherently about this dumbass movie and the characters is like. PURE gold. lmao 💀
okay, so imo, vinny is definitely the favorite. the first place where we see jonesy in the movie is in the wax museum and that is def not a coincidence!! they were hanging out!! jonesy just got bored of watching her dad labor over the fine details of the wax titty & wandered upstairs.
they're best friends!! I just know it!! that shot where vincent's turning wade to wax? and jonesy jumps up on the bed? the CUTEST. rip wade 🙏 but?? I adore that sm.
and he takes the puppy w/him when he goes to murder blake & paige. unhinged dog dad behavior if I've ever seen it. I can 100% see them both quietly coexisting in the same space together for hours on end—vincent sculpting and sketching, jonesy napping next to him. padding upstairs in the middle of the night to have a midnight snack. UGH
I v much also subscribe to the line of thinking that lester doesn't live in corpsetown & has a lil shack of his own in the woods. but he absolutely hustles up to the house routinely to bring jonesy weird roadkill snacks and play w/her in the backyard. if anyone in the family is committed to getting her energy out, it's v much him. they're just outside for hours n hours tossing a mangled deer leg around and kicking up dirt. I feel.
as for bo. well. he v much strikes me as the kind of guy who pretends to be fairly ambivalent about the fact they have a dog running around. if jonesy ever stirs up trouble or chews thru smthn, he's the first one to be like, "UH??? it's your fuckin' dog?? I ain't never ask for this??"
v much onery dad energy. he catches vincent giving jonesy some food off his plate and immediately starts talking about how he's spoiling the damn dog and THIS is why she knocked over the garbage can & got coffee grounds and eggshells all over the kitchen floor.
never mind that he's always giving her scraps of whatever random concoction he's eating. she's chowing down on eggo waffles and beef jerky and hostess snacks whenever he's around. but no, it's vincent who spoils her. sure, jan.
he wants a huntin and fishin dog, but he's not much of a hunter or a fisher. so he gets a couch potato that sits next to him while he drinks beer and rewatches old spaghetti westerns. and he totally doesn't care about it or like her. totally.

this is an old article and maybe old news to some but it’s very interesting in terms of examining the history of the us-israel relationship and how they’ve been working together to terrorize people for forever….

does anyone have any papers that discuss the idea that the Greek oracle tradition came from Egypt, specifically the trance-possession oracles like Pythia or analyzing Herotodus's claims in Euterpe 55

toward the end of the fall semester i had a class that was just a professor reading out wacky/hyperspecific/wrong/completely made up definitions for lgbt microidentities à la on here ten years ago. and today i had a class that was just people arguing loudly and impassionedly about food taxonomy à la people on the internet (feels like reddit but has happened in all these places i suppose) arguing about whether a hot dog is a sandwich. in the first case the professor was a self purported ally who maybe half remembered an infographic he saw and was rehashing his version with total confidence and definitely made like 25% of the room more homophobic. i cannot stress enough that this was the entire class period. in the second case the professor was trying to teach us abt semantic associations but unfortunately was not aware of the bizarre social niche these discussions have taken & was getting so annoyed at everyone carrying on. in both cases the experience of the class session was so absurd that i wish someone was there to see what i mean bc i can’t do it justice with prose

Just noticed that there hasn’t been much, if any, coverage on the mangione trial in like a month. Like since he plead not guilty, there hasn’t been any major coverage on the proceedings. I just tried to look up anything about the past month and I genuinely cannot find anything. Nothing about it they’re still in jury selection, nothing about any rulings, nothing about the defending attorney or even opinion pieces. Like I know why there’s not much coverage, but nothing at all? Like we got CONSTANT updates about the depp/heard case when it was happening, but now that it’s something about an important issue that would have been the case of the decade in times past, it’s radio silence.
It’s so incredibly disturbing that they’ve filtered it out of the media and that people don’t care enough to demand it be covered. People treated it like a trend and aesthetified it to the point that an actual act of resistance means nothing now.
Also there’s like no concrete evidence in this case. It’s all circumstantial. I feel that everyone forgot that, and because of it, the idea that “innocent until proven guilty” as a precedent is very much in the process of being undermined
Edit: Putting this here again because I keep getting people misinterpreting what I’m trying to say: You guys, I know there’s nothing new to report on. What I’m saying is that when something like this happens, everyone talks about it. Every talk show and opinion columnist and political analyst will talk give speculation and reaction and opinion on it. Like when columbine happened, every news outlet talked about it for months before the trial ever happened. It happened in 99 and the rulings didn’t come out til 01 or something. And even if they never directly mentioned columbine, they would talk about gun violence and bullying and how police weren’t trained for situations like that. They talked about the surrounding issues. Like yeah there’s nothing new that the media has access to rn, but no one is making opinion pieces about the judges conflict of interest, no talk show is having a 20 min segment about gun violence or the state of healthcare. Twenty years ago, it would have stayed in the news cycle at least passively until the case moved forward. But now it’s been phased out almost completely. And I know coverage will pick up when the trial starts. I know courts move slowly. I’m not trying to push conspiracy. I was simply making an observation that it was strange that there was almost no talk about it, that it’s been phased out of news cycles, and how there’s no widespread conversation about the issues surrounding the shooting.
Also, I only used depp/heard in the original because it was the most recent case I could think of. And because I was tired and thought this post would be seen by like 20 people max, so I didn’t bother wording it as precisely as I could have. Columbine and the OJ Simpson case are better examples to work off of.
I just wanted to clarify what I meant so I stop getting comments that misinterpret what I’m trying to say and people being rude about it

In the early to mid 2000’s when the book was released, the “dumb blonde” stereotype was very prevalent, so having the children of Athena be blonde felt like a rebuttal of that, that actually blondes can be smart (Which, was something that was meaningful to me as a kid with blonde hair).
But doing the adaptation of it for the 2020’s, the “dumb blondes” thing is not a highly prevalent stereotype like it used to be. I think the casting of Annabeth is a good adaptation for the time that continues to convey the same idea of “Contrary to what people/media say, you can look like this and be intelligent”.
So, I think the casting is good and I hope lots of kids can be inspired and empowered by TV!Annabeth the way I was inspired by Book!Annabeth growing up.
some people are upset that the actors for the pjo tv show don't look exactly like the book characters, but as a die-hard fan there are two reasons why i personally love them
they're children. like, actual children. remember the movies? remember the movies with the actors in their 20s-30s? yeah.
percy has blond hair and annabeth has black hair. it's just- one of those little things that's like. all i can imagine is book! percy and annabeth meeting tv! percy and annabeth. book! percy ruffling tv! percy's hair and turning to book! annabeth, with the biggest grin, saying "look!! he's blond, like you!!! :D"
also tv! grover is perfect thank you for coming to my ted talk

i feel like there’s gotta be something about curly hair suddenly being “in” that’s like. gentrifying/somehow connected to the natural hair movement that we’ve been doing for decades
#the adas speak#i could be wrong. like i really don’t know. but there’s just something about other ppl not knowing how to do their hair#not having products for their hair. like is that perhaps based in texturism which is based in racism#i feel like the (Black) natural hair community talks more about texturism. idk how widespread it is outside of that bc i’m black#but are these not the same thing. the nbs and specifically white people who got bullied/insulted for having curly hair#and never learned to do it because straight was presumed to be the default and anything else was Ugly#i’m really not sure! kind of just guessing! but my negro senses are tingling here!#and the thing is black people have been doing the natural hair movement of getting rid of permanent chemical treatment#and instead embracing their natural hair for ages at this point#and if these things are in fact connected… and there are white girls on tiktok talking about their curly hair routines…#without mentioning/knowing about the natural hair movement… hm.#the thing about being black on this website is that i kind of feel like i have to be know it all nigga just bc there’s not enough ppl#to correct me. but i cannot stress enough that this is just a theory and i’m not saying it’s definitely true#i’m connecting dots that may or may not be in the same picture#i mean i think there’s a solid chance i’m right bc systemic racism but i’m not saying anything is guaranteed#also disclaimer i know other races can have textured hair and we aren’t the only ones who would have texture=[racist slur] experiences#i’m just black. so focusing on that

honestly i think the bossman genuinely means it when he says shit like "im not transphobic, i have trans friends". like he genuinely doesnt think he is A Transphobe, i.e. someone who hates trans people on principle, and he is so hung up on trying to argue this point that he is missing the actual point: his actions are furthering the cause of transphobia on tumblr regardless of what his intent was. an angry mob who he was ignoring provoked a trans woman repeatedly until she became enough of an issue to get his attention, and then he decided to side with them against her. that is a transphobic act.
if he truly wants to be impartial as he says he is, he should also be banning all of the people spouting transphobic rhetoric on transfem posts, but he isn't. he probably isn't even aware of it. you can open the notes of any popular post about trans womanhood and find people saying vile shit immediately. you can report these people and wait months before anything is done about them, if it ever is. there was always an angry mob here, it was just aimed at the transfems, so it wasn't his problem. now that there's another mob and they're pissed off at him, he's paying attention.
