Hey so I somehow had a homophobic and transphobic super sentai blog follow me so reminder: Tokusatsu as a whole is for the LGBTQA+ actually. GENUINELY one of the most homoerotic genres I’ve seen. I’ll rant in the tags but.

Your art for it is so cute, what's Kamen Rider SD? I want to get into it :D
yesss.... fall into my trap... mwhahaha >:3c (also thank you ^v^)
SD in general means Super Deformed, it's a chibi style that's not unique to Kamen Rider (Gundam also has a bunch of SD stuff, mentioning it here bc i love those models :3)
But since you're asking in relation with my art, here's the ones I made art for:
Tumblr media
SD The Great Battle
A series of videogames that's a crossover between Kamen Rider, Gundam and Ultraman characters, all in the SD style. An original character called Fighter Roar joins the team from the second game on. They're very fun and wacky game that don't really have a coherent plot but we love them for that :3 In IV they get a giant robot (Compatible Kaiser my beloved) and in V they're cowboys. I love the cowboy outfits so much. Games one to five have english fan translations, now I need someone to translate Gaia Saver because apparently that one has the Rider Killer lore....
Tumblr media
Kamen Rider SD: Strange!? Man Spider (or simply Kamen Rider SD OVA)
If you've been around the fandom you probably already know this one. It's a 30 minutes short where RX and the other Battle Riders (Ichigo and ZX) have to rescue RX's crush from shocker, with the help of the Mechanic Riders (V3, X and Super1). Wild Team (Stronger, Amazon and Nigo) appears for like. 3 minutes total at the end but they're my darlings and I love them. Other very important thing in this short is the Rider Carrier, a giant robot grasshopper that acts as their base and I think every version of the riders shoul have a giant grasshopper base not just the SDs u.u This short is apparently an adaptation from the Mighty Riders manga, but I haven't investigated it yet so I can't confirm that. It's also connected to a couple more SD videogames, Sortie!! Rider Machines and Run! Mighty Riders (the team names come from here as far as I can tell)
Tumblr media
Kamen Rider SD: Hurricane Legend / Kamen Rider SD: Legend of the Stormy Age
(listen. I know the direct translation is the first one. But the second one is on the back cover so if they gave it an official english title I'm using that :P)
This is probably the one you're asking for, but I wanted to use the excuse to talk about the other two :P
I'll be honest, going in blind on this one is probably the best experience. Do not look up panels you will get spoiled. The basic plot is V3 and Riderman travel around to recruit the other Riders to defeat Shocker. I want to talk about it more but again, I had so much fun going "WHAT!?!" while reading it that I must resist- Might post more about them but will tag it as spoilers
Tumblr media
Other SD stuff that I care less about, for completionist sake:
• there's a third SD manga (Kamen Rider SD: Roaring Laughs School) that I know nothing of (I think it's a 4koma gag manga? I'll be honest I'm not very interested in it so I haven't done much research);
• the most recent SD game is SD Shin Kamen Rider Rumble, a game for the movie, but that one seems to be simply a side scroller so again, no interest from me;
• Lost Heroes 1 and 2 technically use chibi-ish versions of Riders, Gundams and Ultramen, and are part of the Compati Hero series (the same series as The Great Battle), but they don't have SD in the title;
•there's. sooooo many sports games in the Compati Hero series. I like the Battle Dodgeball ones :3 Also speaking of Compati Hero, special mention to Super Hero Operations because that's the next one I wanna play, I get to meet Zubat, Metalder and a bunch of others there :3

HELLO BOYS! I'M BAAAACK!
Tumblr media
(LINK TO THE MASTERPOST)
That's right, after about four months away from this blog (in addition to starting a different blog where I talk about more positive things like tokusatsu), I'm finally deciding to start up The Immaturity of Thomas Astruc once again.
A lot's changed since I went on hiatus. Not only have we gotten more than half of the season (ironically right as I chose to go on hiatus), we've also gotten some new superhero shows, like Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, which manages to do the whole "main character has to learn a lesson every episode" routine and make it work, as well as Jade Armor, a full-blown Miraculous Ladybug knock-off. You know you've made it in the entertainment industry when other studios are trying to rip off your work. Even the tokusatsu shows I watch have reminded me of Miraculous Ladybug, like the new Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger, with one of the five insect-themed heroes being a purple butterfly, and Kamen Rider Geats, a show that feels like one of the writers thought I was being unreasonable with my criticisms of Adrien, and thought "Oh, you want to see what a truly unlikable main character is like? CHALLENGE ACCEPTED."
All joking aside, I've mostly managed to destress a little when it comes to talking about Adrien, so I'm pretty sure I can talk about him in a calmer way now. I'll still call out the dumb decisions he and other characters will inevitably make this season, but I promise I won't snap at any Adrien fans like I did last time.
That being said, I'm going to instate a couple of new rules for how I interact with my followers, and vice versa.
I'll only respond to any replies to my posts unless I'm explicitly tagged in them. I don't want to accidentally go off on anyone for speaking their mind unless they actually want to discuss something with me.
Try not to get into any arguments with the users who send stuff to my inbox. I don't want to start any flame wars, so unless you have something to add to the point they're trying to make, please don't send any asks that only talk about how stupid the last guy's ask was.
Now that I've got that settled, I've got some catching up to do. I have thirteen episodes of Season 5 to watch and write reviews for, and I have to go through the asks in my inbox.
Oh yeah, did I mention I already finished the reviews for "Destruction" and "Jubilation"?

Okay! @buffintruder tagged me in this a little while ago so here we go: "five topics I can talk about for an hour without preparing any material" (I have more than 5, but I'll put the biggest ones here)
Kamen Rider. I've seen 23 series and a lot of them more than once, I could talk about literally anything. The plot, the music, the toys, the ships, you couldn't stop me. Me and buffintruder already spend hours talking about this stuff all the time.
FFXIV. You can blame my sister for this one. There's just so much here to talk about. I love the characters all so much and love to talk about how they change and grow through the story. And of course I could always talk about my beautiful wol, Kiyotaka.
Fire Emblem. I've played 8 of the games and god the characters are never ending I could go on just about them. Each game captures a different part of my mind and I have so much to say about all of them (for better or for worse lol). @allpurposepanda and I regularly spend hours deep into the night talking about this series.
A3! This game took over my life for two years straight when the english version came out and I was never the same after it went offline. I love these characters dearly and will take every opportunity to talk about them (esp. Juza).
Game and Movie soundtracks. I've been obsessing with movie soundtracks since I was kid and since getting into videos games it only expanded to there. I LOVE talking about instrumentation and motifs that are used to convey themes and emotions and characters.
Honorable mentions: Yu-Gi-Oh!, Journey to the West, Lego Monkie Kid, Dungeon Meshi, Houseki no Kuni, Pokemon, Tekken, Ensemble Stars!, japanese BL dramas, Ace Attorney, The Deep, the Proxy series (hopefully I'm not forgetting anything)
I'll tag @keniestarr @lostherlemons and @not-always-black-and-white

Tag 10 People You Want To Get To Know Better
Tagged by @killerandhealerqueen ; thnx <33
Three ships: Taro/Sonoi; George/Hiromi; and Ace/Keiwa/Neon cuz those are the three right off the top of my head rn
First ever ship: Jasmine and Aladdin LOOL
Last song/album is: TXT Temptation album; Farewell Neverland
Last movie: The Little Vampire
Currently reading: Dracula 🤪
Currently watching: Code Lyoko, Kamen Rider Geats, Avataro Sentai Donbrothers, Revice Juuga Spin-off
Last thing you wrote: literally was working on my middle-grade children's book, "Antony and the Witch"
What you’re writing right now: currently working on a lot of nonsense LOL. I'll even add excerpts because I can't help myself <33. Since I'm including excerpts I'm putting it below the line ;).
[1] Antony and the Witch -- mentioned this one above, its a middle-grade fantasy fiction novel following young vampire Antony after his family essentially send him away/abandon him, he ends up at Nothing and Nowhere where he meets the infamous Witch of rumors. But she isn't the kid-eating monster they depict her as. Soon Antony has to make the choice of choosing to betray the Witch to steal her magic wish-granting ruby, or to abandon his family as they did him. And maybe he'll learn the that the real treasure was the family he found along the way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
my favorite scene:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have so much I love from my Antony and the Witch book even though its a WIP LOL. I could share tons but I'll cap it there 🤪.
[2]Babybirds & Bad Decisions
This is a Jason Todd gen fic that I'm working on, where Jason loses his memory even after being thrown in the lazarus pit, and therefore has no idea where to take Damien when Talia tells him to take Damien to "his father". It follows their journey together to Gotham and the process of finding out who the Batman is, in order to deliver Damien to him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[3] My third WIP doesn't have a working title rn :P. It's a cross between the movie/short story 'the Black Telephone' and Revice.
Where, Ikki ends up getting kidnapped in-place of Daiji when he happens upon the serial killer and serial kidnapper "The Deadman" trying to take his brother.
Tumblr media
The last thing I can say I'm definitively working on is a horror-romance Y/A novel titled ADAM -- following a boy named Adam as he moves to a new town, almost dies, and ends up cursed. Now it's a race against time to find a way to break the curse before the evil lurking within the town takes notice. Or at least, before it has a chance to go after him.
(This was a terrible description of the novel LOL....) I won't add an excerpt of that because we already have enough of those here 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪.
ANYWAYS
I know I'm supposed to tag 10 people but I'm both in lack of 10 people and in lack of the motivation to find 10 people, so I'll do the bare minimum and tag one person ;).

Things have gone quiet on Tracy Island. No one for sure knows if it was a good sign or a bad one. The atmosphere was heavy. Not from humidity or pressure. The air from the last rescue still hung.
It was worrying.
But that little time of silence could be boresome sometimes, especially for the Thunderbird One pilot.
Scott walked along the hallway to Brain’s lab, curious about what the scientist was up to lately. He heard from Gordon that Alan would be there as well. Arriving at the door, he pressed the buttons on the pad in an order. The door slid open with a hiss and already Scott could see his youngest brother looming over the table next to Brains, chatting about.
“Hey fellas!” he called, “What’s been keeping you busy?
“We were figuring out what the Kamen Riders are!” smiled Alan, looking like an excited child.
“S-since our first encounter with, eh, with the Kamen Riders, we m-might put some new clues together on how their powers work and how they operate,” Brains explained, eyes still focused on the notes.
Scott hummed, rubbing his chin a little, “So…How do their powers work?”
“I-It varies Scott. A-as it turned out, each Rider had their own, eh, unique power system…” the young scientist began.
“But one thing they always have in common is that they hone their powers from their belts!” added Alan.
“Belts?” Scott repeated.
“Yes, Scott. B-belts,” Brains smiled.
Well, that confirms what the magazines have told.
Brains then further explained; whenever a monster threat appears, the Kamen Riders who happen to be in the proximity of the danger area come to terminate it. As for the monsters themselves, like the bug-eyed heroes themselves, varies as well. It seemed like a very special and difficult specialty, being a Kamen Rider.
Almost like being a member of International Rescue...
“Well, that’s interesting,” muttered Scott.
“A-and I truly believe that, ah, our unlikely a-allies are just like us,” finished the scientist.
“A shame we didn’t get to even talk to them. They just left as soon as their business is done,” Alan pouted.
Scott gave his youngest brother a fond smile and laid a hand on the young blonde’s shoulder, “Hey, I am pretty sure they had their reasons. But like dad said, we still need to- “
“-be wary about them. I know,” his brother huffed.
The field commander sighed. He noticed the notes on the table. Upon closer inspection, they were descriptions of the Riders they had met from the fateful rescue. Such as what might be their basic powers, their appearance (illustrated by the ever-talented Virgil) and their names in which he and his brothers managed to remember.
Speaking of names…
“They have quite some odd names, these fellas,” pondered Scott, “I mean, what the heck does “G3-X” mean?”
“I-I think you should a-ask the Rider himself,” the corners of Brains’ lips tugged up slightly.
The field commander barked a laugh, “Will make sure to ask him that. If I were given a chance,” Alan joined him to his uproar of laughter almost immediately. Then followed by Brains.
As soon as they calmed down, the young genius said he was going to work on the holographic projection to further examine the mysterious bugmen based on the drawings.
“You know, I was wondering about some of the Riders…” Alan looked up to his brother with a raised brow.
The field commander nodded, “I agree. While the other guys talked, that golden Rider was the only one who hasn’t said anything yet.”
“Yeah, that Agito (was that his name?) guy… He was just…silent…” The blonde’s golden brows furrowed.
Scott thought he saw a familiar figure at the door the moment his brother mentioned the golden Rider’s name, “Kyrano?” The pilot called softly, but the said man had vanished into the shadows without a single word.
Well, that’s a bit ominous…
“What’s wrong?” asked Alan.
Scott shrugged his shoulders, “I thought I saw Kyrano at the door. Maybe he was just passing by…”
His little brother nodded, putting his hands into his pockets, “What the Kamen Riders were up to now…” he had a faint smile as his eyes stared aimlessly at the ceiling.
“Dunno,” Scott shrugged, “Guess they were just as worried about this odd time of quiet as we do.”
Just then, the brothers heard a small explosion of sparks and a frantic yelp. They turned to see Brains waving smoke off a contraption. Perhaps the one that creates the 3d holographic images by scanning the drawings.
“Uh, m-maybe you sh-shouldn’t have, eh, said that…” the young scientist smiled with embarrassment.
“You Jinxed it, Scott!” snickered Alan.
The pilot sweatdropped; his blue eyes darted away from the scene with an awkward expression. Perhaps there will be always chaos hiding somewhere in the corner.

So i did a little thing on Kensei and his biker motif and that included his hollow form looking like he was made out of car parts. and i figure I might as well tackle Mashiro's hollow form now, since it's adjacent.
To start with, it should be noted that Mashiro has a whole thing going on with her right out the gate. Unlike the other Visored who all seem to have adopted some kind of passably human attire, Mashiro is out here running around in a super hero suit... The outfit itself pulls from some pretty clear influences:
Tumblr media
The little stripey things down the chest are a look taken from Himitsu Sentai Goranger, the 1971 live action super hero show. In the team of five, each ranger has a number and a matching number of stripes down either side of the suit's front fastening zipper. Where as the ascot+jumpsuit is verymuch the definitive Kamen Rider aesthetic. It's also possible that her weird giant goggles and even her green hair are also meant to evoke the general look of Kamen Rider's helmet.
(it's really weird that her goggles just sort of sit on her head? they don't even appear to be connected to one another, let alone to her head... The only reason I even really identify them as goggle is actually because of her TBtP design replacing them with regular sunglasses, which retroactively makes it clear that they're definitely meant to be eyewear. (even if she never wears them, like some sort of digimon protagonist))
And, as usual, I've mentioned before(because i'm a broken record) that these are contemporary sources, as both shows came about in the 1970s, and are foundational works in the tokusatsu genre, and consequently the building blocks of the Power Rangers franchise. But I want to elaborate on that because there's a lot of cool trivia in there...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both shows were created by legendary mangaka Shotaro Ishinomori, who was also the creator of the 1960s manga, Cyborg 009. Cyborg 009 also featured a team of uniformed, scarf wearing cyborg supersoldiers. In fact, Cyborg 009 is basically the first Japanese superhero team.(and remains an enduring classic, even as continual remakes and reboots in the past decade have butchered it....)
The uniforms, the 5 man team, the helmets/masks, the heroic scarf/ascot, the team poses(and the solo poses), the evil organizations and monsters of the week, the "<insert name> KICK!" all stem from this one man's body of work. So she's not just a throwback to one particular set of characters or shows, or even one person's body of work; her look really is quintessentially THE image of a Japanese superhero.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway the original Kamen Rider helmet is designed after a grasshopper and thus has the big compound bug eye lenses --even as the later series drifted away from the bug theme, the iconic eye shape has stayed-- which is why Mashiro has the big goggles, as well as why her mask has the giant eye holes --Also the heart shape of the mask is a throwback to the heart shape of the Pink Ranger in Goranger.
Tumblr media
As a grasshopper, the original Kamen Rider's finishing move was the now famously imitable RIDER KICK! And in every subsequent iteration, some variation on the Rider Kick has remained the Kamen Rider signature move. And this in turn is why Mashiro's hollow has a whole legs and kick focused thing going on.
Incidentally though, there's a whole thing about her demeanor that doesn't just echo the superhero look from the 70s; With her energetic and childlike demeanor, it seems like the indication is that she dresses this way very earnestly. She isn't just dressed in a way that makes her look like a superhero to us as readers, she looks like someone who is trying to dress like a superhero, even to other people in-world. On the one hand she probably reads most readily as a cosplayer, but I feel like the implication here is that she actually thinks she is/wants to be a super hero.
Also, not to dip too far into headcanon, but given the way the Visored were first introduced as a rag tag looking bunch of misfits, it really seemed like the implication was they all got their powers separately and sought eachother out only after struggling with their own inner hollows; Essentially just mirroring Ichigo's experience... That they, while human, started turning into hollows. They fought off the hollow process resulting in giving them shinigami powers. but they struggled with a growing inner hollow, until someone showed up and offered to teach them to control the mask.
Tumblr media
Also, there was that real ominous throw away exchange where Mashiro brings up that the first time she pulled out her own mask it lasted 15 consecutive hours. and Kensei didn't believe her, as if he wasn't around when it happened, or isn't even closely acquainted enough to just know it as a personal fact... Obviously that's contradicted much later when the TBtP has her as his former lieutenant, but it has a few vague implications...
Mashiro: ね—ね— ベリたんてさ何でこんなことしてんだっけ?
Hey~ hey~ Why's Berry-tan doing this?
Kensei: 虚化状態を長時間キ—プする為の訓練だよオメ—もやった
It's training to keep Hollow state for a long time. You did it too
Mashiro: あたしやってないモン
I did not
Kensei: ンだと? ウソっけ...
What? That's a lie...
Shinji: ホンマや白は最初から15時間以上虚化できたからなァ一人だけ虚化保持訓練してへんねん
it's true. because Mashiro was able to Hollowize for more than 15 hours she's the one person who didn't do Hollow state training
As always there's just a lot to be reckoned with when it comes to any number of swerves that happened in the middle of the Arrancar arc, but given the implications of how the hollow mask really works, we're lead to believe the mask's overall power and effectiveness is one of two things...
Either, like the zanpakutou spirits, they're a matter of making peace with the reflection of the inner self.
OR it's possible that the mask correlates to a total lack of balance, and just embracing the selfishness
this would btw more readily address the initial conflict between old man Zangetsu and the inner hollow, as they're of course still one and the same, but Ichigo needs to accept and embrace the negative side of his inner self in order to make peace with both of them.
Anyway point being Mashiro's apparent lack of a need for training would suggest she's super in tune with her hollow? Given her childish and hyperactive personality, it might just be that she's so immature that she doesn't have much of an inner conflict. She wants to dress like a superhero? So she does. She's confused? she whines and asks annoying questions about it. She's frustrated or unhappy? She rolls around on the floor and throws a goofy little tantrum. She doesn't have shame or hangups or a part of her she wants to repress, she's exactly who she is.
Which makes me think that if they had just been a ragtag group that goes around recruiting new Visored when they find them, like they did with Ichigo(instead of just one group that had always been together, which was just a boring explanation) then I can't help but imagine that when they found Mashiro, she must have been running around in her human life actually being a superhero.
Oh right, and Kamen Rider is so named because he rides a motorcycle. So Mashiro's partyl based on a motorcycle riding hero, and the TBtP made Muguruma a biker gang leader. Which explains why they thematically fit on the same squad. But is hollow Muguruma supposed to be hollow Mashiro's iconic hero bike?

warnings- cursing, mentioning of alcohol, dirty talk, stripping, cat calling, having fun, partying
description- going out for a night of fun with your friends, you weren't expecting to see your own boyfriend at the same club as you. especially since he was actually going to all the places your friends went to. including your workplace. he's fine with it until it becomes too much for him and he just so happens to snap.
--------------
Daichi was more than happy to stay home and not go out but he didn't have a choice. His friends had forced him out and there was no point in resisting. As he groaned and complained while entering one of the clubs, he immediately stopped when he realized where they were. Keeping his head down the whole time and avoiding eye contact with all the girls, his face turned red and he grew hot instantly. "I can't be in here. I have a girlfriend. She'll think I'm cheating on her." he mumbled quickly and stood up, trying to leave.
His friends forced him down into his seat and turned to look at him with serious concern. "Wait. You seriously don't know? You're concerned about your girlfriend cheating on you? What the fuck do you guys even talk about?" Shun questioned as he stared the other in the eyes. After a bit, everyone turned away while sipping their drinks. "Well. He'll just find out the hard way. Kind of sad honestly." Hayato said as the other looked at them in confusion.
He looked at the stage from the song that started playing, recognizing it as your favourite. That's when he choked on his spit in shock. Hearing his friends laugh at his reaction, they cheered as you started dancing on the pole to the music. Throwing money and all going up to personally tip you by sticking the bills in your bra, they all forced $300 into Daichi's hand, pushing him up to the front as he nervously placed the bills right in the middle of your bra.
Smiling at your boyfriend, you winked and blew a kiss to him as he walked back, definitely a darker red. After your performance ended, you collected your money and went to the back, putting everything in your locker. Walking back out and heading over to the table where your boyfriend was, you delivered the drinks they ordered and kissed him on the lips.
"Goddammit I like it."
-----------
You and your friends had gotten off work and decided to go to a club. You guys were having the time of your life and drinking yourselves shitless.
On the dancefloor, you were having the time of your life and dancing with one of your friends blindly. You didn't notice that they had left and currently grinding on someone else until they spoke. "Damn mama, shake that ass for me." You gladly complied and continued to dance, having fun.
Taking a break and sitting at the bar, drinking a pina margarita while talking with the guy you were just grinding up against. "My name is Ren. Nice to meet you. I must say, you're a fun person to party with! I have had so much fun watching you make this place livelier with your friends. You guys are a sight to see I must say." He said while laughing. Laughing with him and nodding, agreeing that he was right on the money.
"Okay but now you owe me three shots. You lost the whole fucking game!" You grinned out at the male who was currently denying any loss he had. "I did not." Scoffing in disbelief, challenged him again. "Come on doofus, we go again to confirm whether or not you suck or I am cheating." After winning the remedial match, Ren gave in and ordered six shots, downing them.
------------
Daichi was watching this all happen from the corner of the club. Because of Shun's connections, he was in the VIP section. His jealousy grew more and more as he saw the way you were laughing at him, smiling, pushing your hair back, flirted, and most of all your outfit. It was pissing him off and he was growling from his seat, quite literally. Breaking the whiskey glass in his hand, Kagero was itching to get out.
Everyone in their section froze and moved quietly, giving him some space as he fought with his demon. "Bring her here. Now." He breathed out shakily as Hayato got up and nodded, moving quickly towards you.
Hayato realized why Daichi was so pissed off after seeing the energy between the two of you and the gestures or slight movements you made towards each other. He looked up quickly when he saw you grab Ren's arm and squeeze his muscle, smirking. He breathed a sigh of relief and then choked once he saw the both of you dancing for each other. He looked up once again and saw Daichi's jaw clench though he was looking into space.
Grabbing your arm, Hayato apologized quickly to Ren on your behalf as you got dragged like a doll. "Hayato what is wrong?" you questioned as he pointed at your boyfriend who had glass surrounding him. "Oh shit. Why didn't you tell me earlier?" you shrieked in panic and shock, scrambling to find something to cover your body. "I tried but you didn't read any of my messages!" Hayato screeched back as he took the blanket you had discarded and threw it to the side, helping you fix your appearance in the slightest way.
As the two of you appeared in the section, Daichi- Kagero was in the middle of the couch, man spread with his arms on the back of the couch. Hayato went to the side, leaving you to stand in front of your extremely pissed boyfriend. "Ah. The slut finally decides to come to see her boyfriend?" Kagero growled out as he focused his greyish black eyes on you, raising a brow.
"I didn't even know you were here! That's not fucking fair!" you groaned and stomped your feet. "But you knew Daichi was at the strip club. Don't you think his poor little heart broke when he saw you dance in front of all the other worthless horndogs? Did you even think that you pissed him off while you were working?" Kagero hummed out, leaning forward slightly. Unable to say anything, you looked away and puffed your cheeks out.
Red Nose started playing and you couldn't help yourself, starting to dance to the song. You wanted to continue having fun but you were in trouble and knew better than to misbehave. Catching yourself and stopping immediately, cursing yourself mentally. Kagero had a knowing smirk on his face, biting his lower lip. "That outfit barely hides your curves. I bet you everyone wants to rip that fucking cloth off you and see your pretty body." Whining and stomping your feet even harder, wanting nothing more than to leave. "Fine. I'm sorry Daichi for not telling you my job and Kagero don't even get me started. Which isn't even fair that you're here! And why get so worked up darling? Don't cha wish that you actually fucked me like a demon in bed? All that rough and wild shit?" you questioned the man in front of you as you grabbed his chin and smirked before turning to walk away.
Everyone was frozen in shock because they have never seen you defy Kagero the way you did. Kagero almost broke every glass object in the club but was slightly calmed down as he was given a bottle of jack he started drinking. He watched every single one of your movements and growled once more when he saw you return back to your newly made friend and dance together once again.
You and Ren were having the time of your lives doing body shots, licking whipped cream off each other, dancing against each other, and giving each other lap dances. As you guys were dancing together, you felt arms snake around your body. One hand going to your throat and the other slowly sliding down to your thigh. Feeling your face being lifted roughly, you gulped as you saw who it was, nervously smiling. "I'm sorry sir, I'm afraid I have to steal this fine lady from you," Kagero said as he dragged you away and into the car.
"Are you seriously that pissed off?" you groaned as Kagero got in first and patted his leg. "Sit here slut." He said as he watched you steel yourself before following his orders. The car doors locked and immediately after your head was yanked back. A growl was released from the man beneath you as he attacked your neck and left bite marks everywhere, going absolutely haywire. "You slut. Nobody disrespects me like that, nor do they defy their master. Understand that?" Before you could even respond, he found your sweet spot and sucked on it harshly.

THIS JUST IN: TV-Nihon C&D’d by Toei?
Tumblr media
We’ve known that Toei can get a bit “Jewish” when it comes to copyright claims of their content on YouTube, but this seems to be a first. Just today, Takenoko of TV-Nihon received an email from someone claiming to be from the “Intellectual property rights department” at Toei asking them to take down their copyrighted materials. As such, TV-Nihon have taken down their Super Sentai and Kamen Rider torrents from their tracker for the time being.
Some people on Twitter have suspected that this is not a legitimate notice and I agree with them because I don’t think this email looks professional enough to be legitimate. If they knew how to file a DMCA, this would be different, but I digress. According to Over-Time on Twitter, New Wave and Perfect Zect (NewZect for short), a Brazilian toku fansubbing group, also received a similar email back in March. At the time of writing, their site is still up and they have deleted whatever notice they had about this, so I don’t know what’s happening on that front. Also, no other toku fansubbing group (English or otherwise) has received similar notices either.
It just seems too coincidental that this happened after Shirakura claimed that he wasn’t supposed to know how fans could watch Super Sentai and Kamen Rider internationally. As such, I’m seeing people putting blame on the person who tweeted at Shirakura, similarly to what happened during the Zi-O Trinity fiasco. Guys, I know the Shirakura paradox runs deep, but I don’t think the person is to blame. I’m pretty sure that Shirakura’s tweet was meant as a joke and honestly, Toei has known about the fansub market for like twenty years now, so it’s weird that they’re doing this now instead of very early on. Remember when Shirakura claimed that there was no Kamen Rider fanbase in the West and you went out of your way to make yourselves heard? This is someone who apparently thought the only toku Westerners liked was Power Rangers (because Shirakura was a producer on Zyuranger, the first Sentai that was adapted to the West). Also, the person didn’t even mention watching it outside of Japan, it was Shirakura who brought it up. They were just asking for more Super Sentai music on Spotify.
Anyway, as I said, I’m hoping that this copyright notice is fake (just as the next person), but in the event that this turns out to be real, I sincerely hope that TV-Nihon’s typesetters can hook us fans up with the lists of fonts that they use in their releases. Times have changed guys. Don’t leave us hanging.
This post will be updated as events progress.
UPDATE - 15 May 2021: Apparently, after comparing emails with TV-Nihon and KRDL (who also received one such email), Over-Time seems to be convinced that the emails are legit (note that they did not receive any such emails themselves), so they’ve decided to stop sharing raws and subs for Super Sentai and Kamen Rider (apparently they’re still going to sub shows, just not post about them on their site). Nobody has been served any legal letters and the emails don’t seem to be valid legal threats, but Over-Time are being cautious for the time being just like TV-Nihon are. I’m still of the opinion that these are not legitimate, particularly because no lawyer has had a hand in any of this (as far as I know) and the emails are purposely vague.
Regardless of whatever happens, please don’t blame twt_tokusatsu for tweeting at Shirakura, or even Shirakura himself for joking about it because he might not even know what is going on (and we don’t exactly know if he does either). If anything, Toei should be blamed for being “Jewish” with their copyrights.
Also, I highly suggest that people refrain from tagging Shirakura on Twitter with their complaints or being paranoid and alarmist when someone does. Some people seem to think that the Western toku fanbase is on thin ice with Toei, but we don’t exactly know how thick the ice is. Yes, some scepticism and cautiousness is okay, but the more paranoid the fanbase gets, the more rumours and misinformation get spread around.
UPDATE - 19 May 2021: Takenoko has stated that he wants to continue translating the shows, so TV-Nihon have started releasing subtitle files for use with the raws. The subtitles are only in an .srt format with no fonts, styling or karaoke, which might be a bit disappointing, but still a good start for TV-Nihon, who have been hardsubbing their releases since the beginning. It would be nice, though, if they eventually released their full collection of subtitle files so that people who have the raws can use them themselves, plus it would save me from bugging TV-Nihon’s typesetters on my posts to release the fonts they use for their releases because they would all be in the files themselves.
Also, you didn’t hear this from me, but I’m starting to see TV-Nihon’s latest releases on a certain site that other sub groups use to post their release torrents.
Since it’s going to be about a week without anything else in the way of news, I’ll keep observing the situation for a couple more weeks and then write a post summarising the whole situation. Assuming that nothing much happens during that time, this will be the final update for this post.

@kiramekigina Thanks for the tag! I won't be mentioning other blogs, so if you want to do next, please do it☺️
1: Kamen rider is my favorite, but actually the first Tokusatsu I saw when I was little was Ultraman, and I know a lot more of the theme songs from Ultraman.
2: I used to make animations with the Flipnote Studio software series for Nintendo DSi and 3DS. January 2021 was the first time I made an animation with the current software.
3: Jin is Horobi's only son, but I feel that I could have been more happy if Horobi had been my foster parent. Since my family environment changed drastically a few years ago, I never thought the time would come when I would be able to say the word "father" by myself. Jin and Horobi have eased my painful memories from my childhood.

Analysis: Did the Death of Pyrhha raise the stakes?
I want to start this by saying that people who were smarter and more qualified than me have talked about other problems with the character of Pyrhha and the writing behind her, and also with other things like the Arkos dynamic. But this has been something I've been thinking about for a long time, and I wanted to ask the question in the title: Did Pyrhha dying really raise the stakes of the series? The answer after I've come to about this is no, it didn't, but we as an audience believed they had been. Let me sort of explain what I mean by this, and use some other series as an example.
When Pyrhha died, we knew very little about her. We knew she was an arena fighter and was one of the best of the best. We knew that this had left her to be mostly friendless, and wanted to be viewed as normal, based on her interactions with Jaune, we can tell she felt good that someone was seeing her as a person and not The Invincible Girl. And we know that Pyrhha is socially awkward, with her habit of apologizing for things that aren't her fault, and the sort of awkward way she would say ' Hello again.' But beyond that, anything for Pyrhha is a head-canon or a bit of a deeper reading of what's present. We didn't know if she had a family at the time, what her goals were at Beacon, and for the rest of her life. We know the above things, and that she liked Jaune. An important thing to note is for the most, we are told these things. We are told she doesn't really have friends, and we are told people put her on a pedestal. But we aren't shown this. This is less effective as we have no context for this.
I think a lot of people will agree that when characters die in fiction one of the saddest things is the fallout other characters go through as a result of their death emotionally. When I think of some of the saddest deaths in fiction, it's usually not the death itself, but the way people around them react. One of the best examples of this for several shows ( spoilers for all will be here, hence the spoiler tag) is the death of Maes Hughes from FMA and FMAB. Maes Hughes was a supporting character, but we knew a lot about him. He was Mustang's best friend, supportive of the Elric brothers, and a loving husband and father. We also know he was very supportive of Mustang's plan to advance and change the world once he had more power. Importantly, for the most part, these things are shown to us. We see Hughes on the phone gushing about his wife, we see Hughes showing tons of photos of his family. They didn't have to tell us ' Hughes cares about his daughter' because we knew that. And so when he died, it was devastating to the audience because we had to see how everyone reacted, and these were characters we knew also. Everything from Mustang crying and saying ' It's a terrible day for rain' to Hughes's daughter crying and asking ' Why they're putting dirt on daddy' at the funeral. These are characters who we cared about, and so seeing them in pain was awful to experience.
But with Pyrhha, we don't really have that. I forget the exact volume, 6 or 7 but even when seeing a redheaded woman talk to Jaune at Pyrhha's statue when they leave flowers, we don't know who that is. We don't know if that was her mother, her sister, an aunt, or just someone who had known Pyrhha. Everything about that ( unless RT has revealed on social media) is speculation, and while a good scene, it doesn't really solve the problem I mentioned above, we don't really know people like a family who would be the most affected by the death of Pyrrha.
Jaune and Ruby were both affected by the death of Pyrhha, with Jaune reforging his armor to be a tribute to her. But the problem is, at least to me that it doesn't feel deep enough. Using a different example, the death of Peter Parker in Infinity War. Some of the first words Tony says in Endgame are ' I lost the kid.' At first, Tony is not willing to risk his wife and child on the chance of bringing back everyone else, because he got incredibly lucky. We've seen the arc of Tony, and this, while maybe selfish is understandable, he's always made the sacrifice play, and so seeing him saying for once he won't is satisfying. But then he sees a picture he has with Peter. Trying to play it off as curiosity, he sees if he could actually invent time travel, and then he does. It's subtle, and it's not tossed in our face, but it's there that the death of Peter really affected Tony and played into his survivor's guilt.
One could say that Jaune wants to kill Cinder for what happened to Pyrhha, and that is a fair example of growth. Volume 1 Jaune probably couldn't fathom taking a life, and by Volume 5 he was trying to murder Cinder in the battle of Haven. But Ruby saw her die. And other than activating her silver eyes ( Another issue others have talked about is how she doesn't really wonder what the silver eyes are) I can't remember really her ever commenting on it. Contrast this with the death of Penny, which is some of the best voice acting the series has for Ruby.
Really small scenes could have helped a lot with this. Some of the examples of things I think could have helped-
When Jaune is calling out team attacks, he accidentally calls out Arkos or a move which relied on Pyrhha, only to realize she wasn't there, and there's a brief moment of silence as it sinks in all over again. ( Example: Shotaro from Kamen Rider W calling for Phillip in the last episode but Phillip wasn't there)
Jaune or someone else does a move in combat that Pyrhha had taught to them. Some of the others see it happening, and they briefly see Pyrhha with them. ( Example: Kakashi seeing Minato in front of him when Naruto performs the Rasenshuriken)
Let the characters talk fondly about Pyrhha with a sense of wistfulness. An example of this would be a difficult battle, and then after the battle, they say something like " If Pyrhha had been there with us, well that would have been easier." Tense silence, and then someone, maybe Jaune chuckles and agrees. It's okay to talk fondly about those who are no longer with us. ( Example: The Justice League cartoon when in an alternate world, Flash is dead and Green Lantern and Hawkgirl talk about him with playful annoyance.)
No one really talks about what her death means for them or how outclassed they seemingly are. An example of what I mean is in Kamen Rider Ex-Aid when a character named Kiriya, or Kamen Rider Lazer dies. The characters are told he died because he 'knew too much' and so a lot of time is spent in uncovering what it was he knew. It became a meme of sorts in the fandom about ' the real reason Kiriya died.' On top of that, the characters lament on how it's concerning that their enemy has a Level 10 form while the highest they can reach is Level 5 as an example.
Pyrrha's death and the fallout from it ultimately remind me of the Justice League movie. We're told the world misses Superman and is a worse place without him. But the DCU hadn't spent enough time building up a Superman the world at large would mourn for, or a Superman who did so much for the world that in his absence, things fell apart. I felt the same way with Pyrhha's death, we were told that it mattered more so than anything.
Now that I talked about what I feel is the emotional failure of the death of Pyrhha, I want to move into the other side of it, raising the stakes. Yes, killing a character is a great way to raise the stakes. It's the most lethal version of The Worf Effect (TVTropes some it up very well, basically a character we know to be strong losing to a new character to establish the new character is strong, IE Thanos beating the Hulk as Infinity War opens). But I feel that Pyrhha was not the right character to do for this for the following reasons
We don't really know strong she is. We are told she was a prodigy, but we are never really shown what that means. The only fights we see her in are CRDL, students at Beacon, and while she does beat them all, this is also the only extended fight we have for them, so we don't exactly know how difficult it would be to beat them. Mercury, but he threw the fight purposefully to get information on her, so we have no idea how they would have stacked up if they fought. ( I think she would win but still) Penny, which even if the fight ended in tragedy is the best possible matchup for her since her Semblance lets her control metal, and the fight which ultimately cost her life in Cinder. We knew Cinder had the power of half a Maiden and got the other from killing Pyrhha, but we don't really know what 'half a Maiden' amounts too because we don't know how strong Cinder was before becoming a Maiden, so it's impossible to say what the amp was. I'm not an expert power-scaler, but killing a character to show someone is strong works if we have a much better sense of how strong they were. The example of this is the death of Jiraiya against Pain in Naruto. We know how strong Jiraiya is as a member of the Three Sanin, which by the narrative would roughly put him on par with Tsunade, the head of the village at the time, and Orochimaru who had trained Sasuke. Jiraiya dying shows the audience that Pain is stronger than the current Hokage and protector of the village, and most of the cast. We never got to see Pyrhha sparring with RWBY or other members of JN_R to show how much stronger than them she is. If we had seen this, and then Cinder killed her anyways, it would have been much more d effective and plant a question in our mind: " How can the main cast hope to defeat Cinder?"
Killing Pyrhha wasn't really an objective for the villains, and it was more so good luck that happened along the way. Sure, Mercury gathers data on Pyrhha, but it seems like Cinder wanted to destroy Beacon more than get Pyrhha out of the way. Even the set up of Emerald making Pyrhha kill Penny amounts to nothing, as in the same volume, Pyrhha dies before the consequences of this can be addressed. Pyrrha was in the way of what Cinder wanted, and Cinder killed her which can be an effective set-up, but in my opinion, it's more effective if the villains have been planning specific things, like toppling a public figure like Pyrrha. In BNHA, people try to take out All-Might, and for good reason, he's seen as the Symbol of Peace. Small scenes could have built this up for Pyrhha also. After Mercury gets information on her, just have the villains make small statements about how she's in the way, and that they have to do something.
Pyrrha being chosen to be the Fall Maiden doesn't really make the most sense. From a set-up perspective, it does, the villain killing the hero before they can achieve a powerup, and said power-up is the hero's best hope. ( Examples of this being the Muteki form in Kamen Rider Ex-Aid) But we're not shown why Pyrhha was chosen. As I said above, because we don't really know how strong she is, it could have been Weiss, or Yang, or Blake, or Nora because we don't know what qualities she was chosen for. On top of that, both Glynda and Winter were there, and arguably more powerful than Pyrhha, and would have been better choices. The set-up for me just doesn't work, and so by extension to me, Pyrhha's death felt like they wanted her out of the way, and needed a reason.
This was an incredibly long-winded post, but I hope I was able to get my points across. What do you think?
