||. it's 2AM and I'm thinking yet again about my headcanons about Thor taking the throne and rebuilding for his people post!EG because thank you but I refuse marvel's canon and I will substitute it for my own. My notes are under the cut:
Earth's Asgardian settlement is called ASGARDIA and while it does function as a pretty solid Asgard-Meets-Earth destination for the sake of interacting and sharing knowledge with humans, it is a temporary dwelling place. This is decidedly intentional on Thor's part. He loves Earth. He has no intention of having his people live on another species' planet.
That said: he would endeavor for Asgardia something of a Safe Haven not just for Asgardians but for other alien species that need assistance across the Nine Realms and beyond. It would remain as such even after Thor and his people relocate to a new planet.
Speaking of new planets (even though it's hardly the point): "New Asgard" (though usually just named 'asgard') is the future planet Thor will find that has as many features as the og!Asgard as possible. (waterways, waterfalls, rivers, seas, timeless dimension, primarily spring-like temperatures, etc.) The Avengers didn't let Thor just recreate his home planet for no good reason so he'll just find a new one.
The "palace" of Asgardia is called the Royal Hall of Bilskirnir (Bilskirnir = lightning crack; it's Thor's hall in norse mythos).
Bilskirnir + Asgardia looks like this concept art. I'd imagine it mixes Earth's resources with Vanir resources, specifically, which is how they're able to reproduce such advanced technology so quickly.
Asgardia is not a part of Norway and abides by its own rules.
Asgardia typically stays tucked away and remains something of an isolationist country. Exceptions include: working closely with the Norweigan government, S.H.I.E.L.D., and occasionally foraying with Wakanda and the U.N. ... but typically only when it has to. Otherwise, the Asgardians want to be left alone.
Asgardia is heavily guarded and fortified, even if it is friendly to the native humans surrounding them. They do not want trouble, and they don't want to cause a fuss. But they've also been through too much, and their people's survival comes first.
Bilskirnir serves as the people's primary shelter in the case of war or calamity. As such, it is the most fortified location in the entirety of Asgardia. It is fortified by a golden energy shield and features plenty of evacuation tunnels. The entrances to these tunnels are only known to the Asgardians who live there.
Bilkskirnir itself is kept secure by the newly reformed Einherjar (which Thor would want spearheaded by Sif and Brunnhilde respectively, assuming that they would accept the positions.) The Einherjar ensure that not just anyone can get into the Hall.
Most of Asgardia's income on Earth is through trade routes and bartered goods. Crops and seafood namely. Never Asgardian weapons, sciences, etc. Part of that is because they need to reconstruct everything from the ground up and so quite a bit of information was lost. The other part is the last thing Asgardians need is the threat of S.H.I.E.L.D. or other nosy human government agencies to come knocking at their doors trying to get their technology. Especially given the humans' penchant for war and destruction. It probably wasn't a sole Thor decision, but he also wouldn't disagree. (I don't think he trusts humans to not be xenophobic.)
Asgardians occasionally might offer sell-sword practices. Personal guards, hunters, trackers, fighters, etc. They're the sort you call in when someone gets hurt or goes missing while cave exploring. What they will not do is join any militaristic efforts. I'd imagine even Thor chooses to stay away from S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers as a whole unless it's a cataclysmic event.
While Asgardia does have a small tourist hall for people who would like to know the basics of Asgardian culture, it is not the selling point that the Asgardians push for themselves. They absolutely do not turn Asgardia into a tourist trap. Tourism would be kept to specific days and months of the year. Asgardians are a people, not aquarium fish.
If tourism were to become popular, it would be of its own merit, and never exploited. Likely, Asgardia's charm would come from its natural scenery, "medieval/fantasy themeing" and general mystique.
Overall, Asgardia could be considered relatively quiet for the most part. Thor would focus his efforts on stabilizing his people and providing for them as much as he can, while keeping their values, customs, technology and culture as intact as he possibly can.

This is actually the only fic idea back from my K-pop area that I plan on finishing? Because here the people I based the characters on feel like they are there to tell a story that is somewhere beyond them?
Basically, the way my country retells the story of Cinderella is quite particular and there is a very popular film from 1974 that has recently (2021) had a Norweigan, more modern remake where the two prince's male companions are in a romantic relationship? And I loved that so much I wanted to turn it into a fanfic and then I somehow made Cinderella male and then suddenly everyone was gay:D
I already have this fic planned scene by scene but there are a lot of scenes so it's taking a while to get through. Here's your snippet from what I've already written, I hope you don't mind it's of the only straight "couple" in the story, I thought it was a cute one.
[just to clarify, Yuna is the supposedly mean step-sister except she's not mean at all, and Jimin is another servant, the male Cinderella's friend]
“I don’t know if I can do this,” Yuna whispers as the royal carriage approaches and the servants run around to ensure a smooth arrival.
“What are you talking about?” her mother turns to her. “You were born for this.”
And maybe, these words would be comforting under different circumstances.
Seeing your mother believe in you.
But Yuna doesn’t feel that at this moment, not with her mother constantly reminding her to stand straight, smile, and not forget to bend her knees so that she doesn’t intimidate the prince with her height.
She tries, she really does, but it doesn’t seem all that relevant, especially not the last part, as the prince didn’t bother showing up.
That's how Yuna sees it, anyway, and how she tells Jimin later on, when they’re sneaking leftovers deep into the night. 
“You might be wronging him, you know?” Jimin asks as she throws Yuna an apple. She catches it with ease.
“Please, he “fell behind because of studying the beauty of local nature?” Bam the horse can come up with a better excuse.”
Jimin smiles a little at that remark, although it doesn’t quite reach his eyes.
“You still got an invitation to the ball though, right?”
Yuna sighs. “We did.”
“Is that a bad thing?”
“I don’t know. I want to go but I’m also nervous about this whole “prince” person. I mean, I haven’t even seen him, nor has he seen me, and now they want him to choose and marry me?”
“It is a little backwards process, yes. But who knows, maybe he’ll actually be a good fit for you.”
“Yeah, maybe,” Yuna replies but it could not be less convincing.
Jimin reaches forward to bump her shoulder lightly.
“Hey,” he says when she looks up at him. “If anything goes wrong, I’ll come to rescue you. Will Bam, full armor and all.”
Yuna’s smile gives them both a little more hope.

this is an oc blog dedicated to a wip i’ve had for about four years now, and is really special to me :) idris is the name of the country which the story takes place in, but the wip is otherwise untitled

some basic worldbuilding: the country of idris is an oppressive monarchical regime, set in a time about technologically equivalent to the mid-1800s. the universe exists on the same earth we live on, but is organized into entirely different countries than ours. idris exists on swedish, norweigan, finnish, and some russian territory. it is mainly governed by the alistair family monarch, the kaldaver family high priest, and seven other noble families. the vast majority of idris is fiercely loyal to the country’s polytheistic religion of halcyonism.
brief (enough) character descriptions
brinne alistair - twenty two years old, ruling monarch of idris. grew up resentful of the monarchy and its oppression, but after a traumatic rebel attack that came to be known as “artemis’s massacre,” she became so obsessive over her own safety that she couldn’t bring herself to care about the good of the people anymore. generally a cold and unstable individual who should not be trifled with, but she has incredibly nuanced feelings and beliefs inside. an artist at heart. prone to fits of mania and depression. betrothed to kori for political purposes, but has been adrian’s forbidden lover for years.
adrian kaldaver - twenty two years old, high priest of idris. resident poor little meow meow. knows a lot about halcyonism, but deeply insecure about his place in it and where he really belongs. complete wet noodle of a man who has net negative spine, but tries his best to do the right thing anyway. he has no direction and is manipulated very easily. actually smart, but his lack of confidence prevents him from being truly intelligent. getting involved with brinne at a young age greatly changed his perspective, and he would do virtually anything for her sake. not a virgin and he’s still freaking out about it after six years. betrothed to zuri.
rowen zeysra - twenty five years old, co-leader of idris’s underground rebellion. she goes by the alias “artemis” among revolutionaries, and only a very select few know her real name. extremely passionate about the cause, but can be callous and reckless. gets much more credit for the rebellion than evander, her brother and co-leader. the name artemis is feared throughout idris after her revolution’s massacre in the royal palace five years ago. trained knife-fighter, and very much a product of her environment. she’s gentle with the innocent, but reveals a sadistic streak from time to time. crushing on grace.
evander zeysra - twenty seven years old, co-leader of the rebellion, and rowen’s brother. goes by “apollo” among revolutionaries (see what i did there). not as famous as rowen, but acts as the architect of operation planning. an extremely level-headed and focused person. kind, too, although sometimes he worries he shows it too much. he serves as a major source of balance within the revolution. he’s the kind of crafty that’s perfect for a ren fair. wants a lot out of life and is okay taking his time to get there, so long as it gets done. great with his hands, but not in the way you’re thinking, perv. he’s aroace.
grace odessa - twenty two years old, firstborn noble of idris’s house of education. wholly aware that most of her job is maintaining state propaganda. secretly joined the rebellion after artemis’s massacre and natal’s death*. a tough person through and through, and an intellectual until the end. deeply idealistic, despite her skeptical personality. she’s much more scarred than she lets on, and has a very high tolerance for pain. hates lennox in particular. previously betrothed to natal, now betrothed to another noble. crushing on rowen.
lennox warryn - twenty two years old, firstborn noble of idris’s house of criminal justice. endlessly calculating and manipulative, a manspreader and a mansplainer. the entire noble court looks up to him--even those who dislike him for one reason or another. there are layers under his mask. he genuinely loathes both brinne and adrian for their political incompetence, and underhandedly assumes the position of regent when brinne goes through depressive episodes. he could crack at any moment from the amount of pressure he puts on himself, but he won’t. betrothed to nesrin.
zurielle (zuri) tessing - twenty years old years old, secondborn noble of idris’s house of agriculture. sweet and hard-working. one of the few nobles immune to the court’s cutthroat politics. head over heels in love with adrian, and is convinced there’s something wrong with her because of his lack of interest. no matter how hard she tries, she can’t seem to get close to much of anyone. a little desperate for attention at this point. betrothed to adrian.
nesrin theoris - twenty years old, secondborn noble of idris’s house of military forces. she’s serious, and sometimes harsh, but overall she acts in good faith. she isn’t especially powerful within noble court, but she uses her connections extremely wisely. an expert at accomplishing what needs to be done (unlike many of her peers). she dislikes social niceties, and will tell you what she thinks regardless of if you want to hear it. weird girl at heart with nowhere to show it. has a thing for lennox’s sister. betrothed to lennox.
alya volkotya - sixteen years old, refugee from the neighboring country of zaseov. fled to idris after her parents died from malnutrition and her older sister was killed in gang violence. she first despised idris for its religious oppression, and after being taken in by the revolution, has come to hate the country for nearly everything else as well. she’s gentle in appearance and nature, but won’t hesitate to resort to hostility when her wrath is earned. a good hunter and avid music lover. very cottagecore in general. dating zephyr.
zephyr siles - fifteen years old, ex-soldier of idris. grew up in the squalid slums of idris with no father and a neglectful mother. somehow maintained an attitude of unadulterated optimism throughout his childhood and enlisted in the military at thirteen years old, hoping to make something of his life. he had a mentor in the military who meant everything to him, but was discharged after he snuck into an armory and accidentally caused an explosion that rendered him half-blind. found the revolution while wandering on the streets looking for shelter days later. still desires only to be useful and fulfilled. dating alya.
finnovamina “nova” twyvek - twenty one years old, the heir to idris’s biggest press company. hates his family, hates the monarchy, hates idris’s religion. he’s really just a little hater boy. very interested in medical sciences, but has never had the opportunity to explore it. sometimes gets a little morbid in his curiosity. extremely socially awkward, but voracious for knowledge and what people have to offer by way of it. dresses like he has five bucks and a gum wrapper to his name, much to his parents’ chagrin. wears a signature scarf. joined the revolution because he believes in justice and also because he craves being a hater.
koriandarius “kori” twyvek - seventeen years old, pure golden child of his family. he’s friendly to all seven of his siblings, but feels the tension between himself and nova. not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but remarkably earnest. loves putting smiles on other peoples’ faces. craves approval and success. ecstatic to be marrying the monarch, both for his personal sake and for his family’s name. new to halcyon's castle at the beginning of the story, and acclimating to the brutal politics and interpersonal dynamics. betrothed to brinne.
vantamarial “vanta” twyvek - fifteen years old, fourth child to the twyvek dynasty. a generally emotionless, bitchy teenager who happens to be extremely devout to halcyonism. centers his life around worship and prayer because he has no inner life to propel him. his feelings of connection toward his family are only out of cultural/religious default, and he knows virtually no one outside his relatives and family friends. aspires to be a halcyonist priest one day, and is encouraged by everyone around him because they know he’s too bland to find other passions.
*natal maravei - dead, executed at sixteen. haunts the narrative a little. used to be grace’s fiancé from idris’s noble house of diplomacy. following artemis’s massacre, he tried to find the rebellion and join it, but was caught in the process and executed by brinne. a little shit when he was alive, but was always intellectually savvy and charming. daring to a fault, and was deeply convinced that he was destined for greatness. unlikely friend to lennox (lennox definitely did not have a big gay crush on him). his death serves as a symbol of brinne’s onset paranoia following artemis’s massacre, although different nobles believe different things as to whether her paranoia is truly justified or not.

adding more again and what do you mean some of these concepts seem familiar I totally haven't been using them to branch off into completely different ideas that I've already talked about here ahaha I would never do that
anyway:
- adding scenes inbetween what the play directly shows us with no words in a similar way to how I've already expressed interest in adding flashbacks: no words, just little scenes used to expand a certain take on some of the character relationships onscreen. for example, Act 4 Horatio taking care of Ophelia while she's crying in her room and she shows him her letters from Hamlet, which he goes on to read after she leaves with with an unreadable expression. Act 4 Hamlet shown from his POV as he writes the letter aboard the pirate ship, and limited clips from his time aboard both boats that get later expanded on when he properly recounts the story to Horatio in Act 5 (and he'll laugh while doing so). Past his Act 4 Scene 4 appearance we only see him from behind in these sightings, but when we see him writing the letter he's wearing his father's signet ring.
- Similarly, Fortinbras is not shown from the front until his proper entrance in Act 5 Scene 2. The Norweigan prince, in a similar way to how Horatio and Ophelia look alike (not entirely, just enough to discern a noticeable parallel), looks vaguely like he could be an older, jaded version of Hamlet. His hair is a dirtier blonde, and some of his features are different, but there's just enough for a connection to be made. Stepping over the bodies, he takes the royal crown from Claudius' head and tries it on. He goes on to inspects the signet ring on Hamlet's hand, but after Horatio speaks of him, lets it be and the late prince is buried with both.
- When Hamlet meets with the ghost in Act 1 Scene 5, after his line of 'Murder?' and his father's claim of the snake that poisoned him sitting on the throne and wearing his clown, Hamlet is suddenly struck with brief flashes of a vision of his father's murder accompanying the rest of his words, and then even quicker flashes that symbolise events from later on in the play that don't make complete sense to him without context, but are bloody and wicked enough that it seems to be all part of the show.
did I ever tell you guys about how I would adapt (the tragedy of) Hamlet (prince of Denmark) if ever given the chance. because I have so many thoughts and I’m adding onto them all the time so here’s a post with all my ideas compiled.
- firstly, it would be an animated mini-series of five episodes, each one corresponding to an Act. I think Animation is a highly under-utilised and underappreciated medium that would suit this particular story well in terms of what it could achieve visually and also these are just a bunch of words to say I’m heavily biased towards animation and just love it so much.
- there are so many fun little character design tidbits i would implement. including but not limited to: Horatio being the shortest, Claudius/Hamlet Sr identical twins (and Claudius having a Scar reminiscent scar on his face for the drama… and also the eventual Act 5 Scene 2 parallels when Laertes wounds Hamlet with the rapier in an incidentally similar way), Laertes having a silly curly moustache, Horatio and Ophelia resembling the other, Hamlet looking tired, pale and ghostly at all times, character’s hair being used as a way to show passing of time (Hamlet having hair on the long side of short in Act 1, growing but in a little ponytail over Act 2, medium-length and unkempt in Acts 3 & 4, and cut shortly and neatly in Act 5. also Ophelia’s hair growing noticeably as well and being often neatly braided with little flowers in Acts 1-2, loosely braided without flowers in Act 3, but being down and wild in Act 4 etc), and so on so forth.
- I would shamelessly be including flashbacks to pre-tragedy memories of the castle/inhabitants. Baby R&G&H running through the castle halls and playing hide and seek. Hamlet actually, god forbid, practicing fencing. The Players entertaining at the castle in Hamlet’s youth. Ophelia and Hamlet sneaking out into the garden beneath the willows by the pond, Hamlet braiding flowers into her hair while they sit together. Yorick entertaining baby Hamlet. All coloured with the softest, goldenest glows that nostalgia can manage to contrast the desaturated depressive hues of the current day. I think a lot of the tragedy of *Hamlet* specifically lies in comparing what was to what ended up being, and since the play starts after Hamlet’s entered his mourning period, it’s hard to fully comprehend the true nature of such a fall.
- Each Act having a lovely stylised title card in its introduction with themes and motifs that are specifically prevalent throughout. Act 3 would have curtains, for example, given the play staging and Polonius’ later poor choice of hiding place. Act 5 introduces the classic skull we all know and love.
- Very purposeful dramatic lighting and colour throughout. Daylight lighting and then the switch to a lot of Hamlet’s soliloquies seeming to appear under more ‘spotlight’ lighting. Early evening during the play, sunset during the scene where Claudius prays (golden light tricking through beautiful stained-glass windows), nightfall when Hamlet yells at Gertrude. Lighting also being used to dramatise entrances perhaps, such as Claudius’s prayer being interrupted by the shift to ‘spotlight’ lighting before we even see Hamlet at the door.
- Same goes with music and motifs, interwoven character leitmotifs and themes that shift keys and qualities and work together to make larger pieces and show up to herald the arrival of a character, or turn sour to match their emotions.
- the visual humour of the play being upped, as well as the wordy humour being emphasised, in order to really contrast the shift in tone throughout the halves of the play. I’ve always been a tragicomedy truther when it comes to Hamlet, I think if done well it could be a really neat way to get the audience to invest more in the characters while also really highlighting how quickly everything goes south.

What languange the scandinavian royals use when they talk to each other? Is it english or they use their own each other languange and understand each other because their languange are similar?

The general conclusion from watching videos and speaking to Scandi speakers is that they speak their own languages and they can mostly understand each other but will sometimes speak one of the other languages or English depending on the event, audience etc

Sorry sorry. I mena if he had been a seond child in other royal familes and hade married Meghan the family would closed ranks (like Sweds, Norweigan did with Sofia and Mette-Marit) Sometimes my brain works faster then my fingers write lol. Yes exacly. Had Harry stayed the same Meghan would have never looked at him. I dont think her friend would have talked about Harry to her. Oh don’t worry about it, I do the same all the time 😭 . This is something I wonder about too. I think they wouldn’t have been as isolated and pitched out front if Harry was in another royal family. I think they would’ve been treated like family.
In other European royal families such as the Swedish rf, in addition to just seeming more like a family, there’s not as much competition. We know that only some siblings will be king / Queen, but other members are still treated the same regardless of their place in the line of succession, there’s not as much focus on that. But the Brf seems very obsessed with this idea of a pecking order and hierarchy.
Also people don’t want to admit it , but britian as a nation is far right thanks to all their information bring from very right wing outlets. Other royal families ( and other parts of Europe) are more progressive , they all talk about the things Harry and Meghan were labeled “ too woke” for in the britian. Things like lgbtq rights and gender equality are things that I’ve seen other royal families talk about . I can’t remember who it was, but one of the Scandinavian crown princesses is openly pro-choice. Harry and Meghan’s comments about human rights most likely wouldn’t have been seen as political or controversial if they were in a different royal family . Hell, the brf is one of the few that still has never apologized for colonialism of their role in the transatlantic slave trade.
In addition to those things a big difference is the British tabloids . I don’t think other European royals have to deal with anything close .

It is now the late-winter of 1657, a whole year later since Norway had originally attacked Sweden, Poland-Lithuania, and Russia. Before, many countries stand-alone, making no threats to the opposing countries that were in active war. Now, the entire world is fighting either for their independence or joined the newly formed empire, the Norweigan Empire, and now, the resistance movement is making a threat towards the Norwegian Empire. A newfound group of countries formed by civilians, rebels, bandits, and very few royals/nobles occupying power and to disrupt civil order and stability against the Norweigan Empire. This war is a bloody one, with thousands of lives already taken. 
Note from the admins: There have been minor changes regarding character ranks. After reading several threads and staying on top of recent changes on the dash, kings/queens under Norwegian Empire are able to keep their titles, ruling their lands on behalf of the Norwegian Empire. Though, they must report back always to their sore leader, Halvdan of Norway. As they rule, they will be under a new structure of government, introducing the new practice of in religion influenced by the Norwegians, and would be watched constantly by their leaders in case of any revolting. A map will soon be released to reveal all countries until the Norwegian Empire, the Resistance, and The Defenders. 
Religion: Norse Paganism is now a religion that has been introduced to the countries under the Norweigan Empire.
