North Korean troops in Ukraine 'turn to alcohol'
Despite exposure to Russian propaganda underscoring their role in supporting Moscow’s war efforts, the morale of the North Korean soldiers seems to have taken a hit. The GUR also noted that these troops faced combat in Kursk from December 31 to January 1, incurring “significant” losses. Since a surprise Ukrainian attack in August 2024, Russia has been struggling to recapture territory in…

March was a productive month, and not just because I read a good number of books. I also started writing again after a bit of a slump, and I managed to unhaul 37 books from my home library, though some of them have not actually left the house yet. The used bookstore I went to didn't take everything so I have to decide which one I'm hitting next. Or if I'm dumping the bulk on a thrift store because let's be honest, most used bookstores aren't going to want what's left either.
Can you tell I got rid of that many? Only if you saw the state of things before. My shelves are neat and tidy with no books wedged on top of other books to make things fit.
And I was so, so close to ending the month without buying more books! I really thought I was going to manage it! And then, well, I mentioned the used bookstore, right? I've been meaning to read Delaney but few bookstores stock him, and Lincoln's Dreams is one of the only Connie Willis novels I don't own. (That shop also had stickers, and a cute bookmark I can't show you because whiting out the identifying features would ruin the effect.) Under the Smokestrewn Sky was a rescue, of sorts. Why return it to the publisher when you could just buy it, right?
Anyway, in terms of books read, there were some really good ones! And only one that was not so great. I think I'm done reading and collecting Rat Queens and might need to include those in the next unhaul. And don't get me wrong about the Evie Dunmore. It is a Good Historical Romance Novel. There's just something about it that didn't work for me.
Click through to see everything I read this month, in the rough order of how glad I was to have read them.

one of my favorite things about character creation is thinking about their favourite foods and drinks. can you share a list of your oc's favorites? (separate desserts included! and relevant lore...)
Maika: She's looking for the strongest alcohol she can find since she was never allowed to have any before, apples
Juno: Hard (apple) cider, probably any food that isn't Earth Kingdom in origin (reminds her of how her dad controlled her)
Kelsang: Jasmine tea, mushroom dumplings. He's a simple man.
Sang Kyu: Soju, onban (North Korean chicken soup, simple but hardy)
Vincent: Blood the most expensive red wine he can find, probably some super intricate but delicious dessert. He would worship the chocolate guy. Much art. Such showmanship.
Voski: Hot chocolate, cinnamon rolls (because she is one)

“Zashikiro” Temporary Edit ”Post-war Japan and a Mother”
The mother was elderly and gave birth to a baby with only one eye. The mother told her son, "One day I will surpass everyone else, and I will be the most beautiful mother in the world for you.” However, the townspeople slandered and spread bad rumors about the mother and child every day. His mother swore, “I will protect my child.” And so, she shed the black blood of her kin on Sakichi, and the two of them fell into hell. (The mother is rubbing her son’s penis. This is also based on a true story from Japan.) Before the war, his mother was born into a fishmonger’s family, and sold fish to “Karyukai” (the world of sake, geisha, and sex). After giving birth to Sakichi, she made a living as “Botefuri” (a job selling goods by carrying them). Having lost her husband in the war, his mother survived after the war by “Yamiya” (a job buying and selling goods on the black market amid the shortage of supplies after the defeat). After Tsukiji Fish Market reopened, he ran a fishmonger’s shop again in Kiryu, and sold fish to the Korean people living nearby. (Gunma fishmongers purchase fish at Tsukiji early in the morning, transport it by train, and sell it locally.) During the war, Japan massacred and oppressed labor activists and socialists, and then invaded China and Korea. During the war, there were slums in Kiryu where Koreans lived. Sakichi’s mother again made a living by selling fish to the Koreans. (Interview with Director Harada’s mother) “In Japan there is something called ‘Hanaoka-jiken’. I understand why North Korea is still complaining about Japan. In the past, coal was the power source for trains and buses in Japan. Koreans and Chinese were forced to work digging coal. After the war ended, Japan killed them.” (Although not included in the interview, Harada’s mother and grandmother witnessed Koreans from a neighboring town being taken away by truck. They never came back. Someone from the city hall came and told the residents not to tell anyone about this incident.) As a result of Japan’s invasion of the Korean Peninsula, the methyl alcohol scandal occurred in Kiryu, and Sakichi’s mother had to stop selling fish to Koreans.
After that, his mother worked as a cleaning lady at a “Kenban” and “Okiya” (geisha offices) and a “Kamiyui” (barber shop), barely surviving on low wages. Sakichi was constantly called “smelly,” “disgusting,” and “a monster” by the children around him. The mothers of those children also ordered their own children, “Never associate with Sakichi.” The neighbors also spread gossip, saying, “Stay away from Sakichi and his mother and son,” and slandered them as “Katawa(crippled, disabled).” In addition, neighbors spread a false rumor that “Sakichi was born because his mother led a promiscuous life,” insulting the mother and son.
Sakichi’s grandmother told him, “Sakichi, your mother and this grandmother will protect you, but try not to go out too much. We will work hard, and one day we will try not to have people complain about us. There’s a proverb that says, "If a person lives honestly, God will protect him.” And since you are a man, live like a man.“ At the time, Gunma was a low-altitude training airspace for US fighter planes. This is an article from Akahata, the newspaper of the Japanese Communist Party, reporting on this.

Happy 추석/Chuseok!
추석 also known as 한가위, is Koreas autumn harvest festival, similar to thanksgiving or other such celebrations. It's celebrated in both North and South Korea and lands on the 15/8 on the lunar calendar so it changes each year, but for this year it starts on September 28 and goes on until the 30th. Uniquely 추석 guarantees 3 days off; the day before, 추석 day, and day after.
Where Does Chuseok Come From?
Chuseok is an age old celebration so when it originated is a bit debated. Some think it comes from around 57 BC - 935 AD as a part of another celebration called gabae. Gabae was a month-long weaving contest between two teams and when the competition was over the winner would be treated to a feast from the losing team.
Other think that it is tied to celebrations for the harvest moon where people would offer deities and ancestors new harvests. Which means chuseok could have started off as a worship ritual.
Whichever the origins or history, 추석 has developed to be a big family event in Korea, with a lot of specific foods and events going on. The event celebrates family, food, and the large harvest before winter starts to come in.
Some common holiday foods are:
Yakgwa 약과
Jeon 전
Saengseon Twigim 생선튀
Hangwa 한과
Songpyeon 송편
Before there was more of a culture to make 송편 with family and go all out; doughs would be died naturally and made into unique shapes. There was even a common saying that said: “송편을 잘 빚으면 예쁜 딸을 낳는다” or in English: “If you shape 송편 well, you’ll have a pretty daughter”.
What are the traditions of Chuseok?
Visiting with Offerings Ancestors Graves:
추석 is all about family, both alive and past. Koreans usually hold a memorial service, or charye (차례), in honor of their ancestors and offer certain foods to them such as rice and fruits. Which additional food is offered changes a bit depending on region though, in Seoul salted fish and meat dishes are offered along with rice for instance.
When giving appreciation to ancestors Koreans also go to the family grave plot and sweep and clean the area. Then, they bow to their ancestors graves as a whole family which is called sungmyo (성묘).
Giving Gifts on Chuseok
People also need to celebrate their live family! 추석 gift sets are common to find around in Korea before the holiday begins in stores and supermarkets. Many gifts are very food and health focused; from having fruit, alcohol, and meat, to ginseng products, health products, and others.
Interestingly though; the fruit gifts are pretty pricey and filled with premium fresh fruits. So don't mistake them for the fruits you normally get at the grocery store. Quality Beef is also an expensive gift to give that people really love.

Found Footage Horror: The Terrifying Truth Behind 3 Friends' Last Night ...
Prepare yourself for the most terrifying found footage horror story of 2024, where reality meets nightmare in a way you’ve never seen before. This haunting tale unravels the mysterious and horrifying events surrounding three 17-year-old girls—Rhiannon, Audrey, and Lily—who embark on what should have been an ordinary night out in the woods but quickly turns into their worst nightmare.
Background: The girls, all residents of the notorious 304 Flats, were known for their wild lifestyles—mixing drugs like molly, smoking weed, and washing it all down with White Claw alcoholic drinks. They were inseparable, united by their shared love for reckless fun. Rhiannon, the pretty one with dirty blonde hair and a knack for drugs, snowboarding, and sex, was always the center of attention. Audrey, a sickly pale girl with greasy, stringy hair and an almost tragic dependency on makeup to cover her acne, followed Rhiannon like a shadow. And then there was Lily—a loudmouth North Korean girl known more for her greed than her looks, despite her gaudy makeup and outrageous nails.
The Story Unfolds: That fateful night, the girls decided to take a shortcut through the eerie woods behind their town, a place shrouded in ghost stories and warnings. The footage recovered from Lily’s and Audrey’s phones starts with giggles and slurred words, showing the girls stumbling through the forest, high and drunk, completely oblivious to the dangers lurking around them. Rhiannon’s camera catches the first sign of something wrong—strange whispers carried by the wind, eerie and incomprehensible.
As they delve deeper into the darkness, the mood shifts. What started as a fun-filled adventure soon turns into a nightmare. The camera captures Lily suddenly disappearing without a trace, leaving Rhiannon and Audrey in a state of pure panic. The footage becomes chaotic as the girls desperately search for their friend, the dark woods offering no clues—only fear.
Soon, Audrey also disappears, and Rhiannon is left alone, her camera capturing her desperate attempts to find her friends. But something sinister is at play, and Rhiannon’s last moments are filled with terror. The final footage shows her running through the forest, the camera shaking as she trips and falls, only to catch a glimpse of something unearthly pursuing her. Her body was never found.
The Aftermath: Days later, Audrey is found wandering 100 miles away, covered in blood, dirt, and barely conscious. The horror she endured is unimaginable. Her body is a canvas of violence—claw marks, bruises, and signs of strangulation. The most disturbing part? The DNA evidence collected from her body was unlike anything the doctors had ever seen—part human, part something else entirely. Whatever attacked her had fused its DNA with hers, creating a terrifying new entity.
Audrey’s mental state deteriorates rapidly. Once a girl who loved the thrill of partying, she regresses into a near-vegetative state, her days filled with incoherent mumbling, compulsive behaviors, and a loss of basic bodily functions. Doctors and scientists alike are baffled by her condition, with no treatment proving effective.
In early 2024, in a secret lab, scientists attempt to understand the horror that befell Audrey. From the 639 DNA samples collected from her, they cultivate nine specimens. The footage from the lab, recovered later, reveals these creatures at three months old—disturbing hybrids that defy nature, with sharp claws, glowing eyes, and a thirst for violence. The creatures are a chilling testament to the unknown horror that Audrey and her friends encountered in those cursed woods.
Why You Should Watch: This found footage horror story is more than just a movie; it’s a deep dive into a real-life nightmare. The recovered footage from Lily and Audrey’s phones offers a glimpse into the terror that unfolded, while the stolen lab footage provides a horrifying look at the creatures born from that nightmare. The blend of reality and horror makes this story one of the most terrifying tales of 2024, guaranteed to haunt your dreams.

Saw someone on Twitter call craig!bond the rugged bond and Brosnan!bond the pretty boy bond... what are your thoughts on them. Well we all know ur thoughts on craig bond but I'd like to hear more anyways
Okay, so Craig!Bond is my Bond of all time. My beloved. My fed-up, alcoholic, just-holding-himself-together disaster bisexual. BUT my first Bond was Brosnan!Bond. I grew up on his films and loved him. I do feel like it's a bit simplistic to reduce him to just the "pretty boy," though I admit he is v pretty.
I think, in some ways, their Bonds aren't too far removed from each other.
Brosnan's is known for being really smooth and unflappable, but there was a real nuance he brought to the role. It was less overt than what Craig managed, but still worth noting. I don't think Die Another Day is anyone's favourite Bond film, but the first twenty minutes or so of it are gold. He gets captured and tortured by the North Koreans, then - in a breathtakingly cruel turn - he's suspended by M because MI6 thinks he might have leaked information, then he finally gets to safety and tries to process all that in a hotel room, where someone tries to kill him. It's on par with the Turkey scenes in Skyfall, tbh. Totally heartbreaking and incredibly acted.
Also, Brosnan!Bond is an incredibly lonely iteration of Bond, but it's actually something you only notice when he's in bed with his women. There are three scenes that stick in my brain, in particular:
One of my favourites is in GoldenEye on the beach where he's brooding about having to kill Trevelyan. Natalya (one of the finest Bond women ever tbh) accuses him of being cold, he says "that's what keeps me alive." She responds with "No, that's what keeps you alone." And then they kiss etc etc, but what really strikes me is the desperation when he reaches for her. It's so clear he doesn't want to be alone, even if his life means that he'll always have to be. It was just a great scene.
Then, in The World Is Not Enough, you have the wonderful exchange with Elektra King where she asks him how he survives, and he tells her, "I take pleasure in great beauty." I'm sure he thought it was an attempt at misdirection, but it was extremely telling.
Say all you like about Tomorrow Never Dies, but the Paris Carver storyline is one of the most brutal in any Bond film, and very underrated. They used to be lovers. He admits to her that the reason he left her years ago is because she got too close. Then, she gets close again (while he's using her for the mission) and of course it all ends up in death.
Daniel Craig gets a lot of attention for the romantic melodrama in his films, especially with Vesper and Madeleine, but Brosnan took the material he was given and turned sex into a real window into Bond's character. I was always really awed by that.
I think my heart will always belong to Craig!Bond, mostly because of the ruggedness paired with a clumsiness that's sort of self-effacing and hilarious (running through walls, falling on couches etc etc). People will say Craig!Bond is closer to the books and all the rest of it, but the real reason I liked him was because no secret agent would ever be even remotely well-adjusted, and Craig never pretended that was the case. He once said he played Bond in Skyfall like he was about to fall apart at the seams with anxiety, terror and substance abuse. In reality, he played him like that for five whole films. It brought refreshing sense of realism to an otherwise very unrealistic franchise.
Anyway, they're both very different Bonds, but the thing that makes me love them both is the same: that they're both inescapably lonely men who are trying not to be.
And let's face it, the perfect love child of both of them is Dalton!Bond.
Whew! Okay! That got insanely long. I would love to hear other people's thoughts too.

I'm reading the shadows series and I'm also learning about World War 1 in school and I'm gonna be so confused in class.
like yea I'm studying the past future and present wars, yea one is fictional I get it, but my brain is not gonna be able to differentiate them when I start doing rapid word association in the middle of a discussion and someone is gonna bring up the name Peter some how and I'm gonna go on a 2 minute explination of the hedgemon till I realize that I just started ranting about bullshit. I'm gonna be crying in the corner because I know I'm better then this, I studied a lot of history, especially political conflict (mostly korea but plenty of world conflict too) I spent 3 months on world War 2, I can deal with world War one, I can study this, I can talk while NOT confusing it with a litteral BOOK
but no im lying I cant
one time I was describing the history of my fictional world to my friend and my teacher (who dosent know history) thought I was describing real history and was impressed by it. SIR I WAS IN 6TH GRADE, WHY DO YOU THINK WE WOULD LEARN ABOUT THE DETAILS OF NUCLEAR WARFARE AND HOW UNDERGROUND MINES LEAD TO A NATIONAL LAND INSTABILITY ESPICIALLY SINCE TRAINS PLAYED A BIG ROLE IN TRANSPORT AND WAS THEREFORE HIGHLY AFFECTED WHEN SOMEONE SET OFF A BOMB IN THE UPPER MINES ALCOHOL PIPING SYSTEM. AND ALSO ABOUT POSSIBLE DEAD MAN ZONE CONSISTING OF NORTH KOREA AND THE BORDERING AREAS OF CHINA THAT WAS SOLD TO SOUTH KOREA BECAUSE THE LAND WAS NO LONGER USUABLE AND ALSO TO CREATE A PEACE TREATY SINCE THE CHINESE AND SOUTH KOREAN (united korea) GOVERNMENT HAD TO SHARE A BORDER NOW. WHY WOULD I LEARN THIS IN SCHOOL TEACHER, YOU GAVE ME ENDERS GAME TO READ YOU THINK THAT WOULDENT PERMANENTLY MESS WITH MY BRAIN, YOU THINK I WOULDENT GET GEOPOLITICAL AFTER THAT.
This is why I know I will combine all my knowledge of history in a jumble in my head. Last time I was at school I talked for 4 minutes untill someone realized that it wasent real and that I couldent lie in a class discussion, IM SORRY I DIDNT EVEN REALIZE
no one here wants to hear about my 9 year old selfs excessively detailed history and political system for a world about gay rocks and fire people.
(also yes I have very strong opinions on my home country that most people over the age of 40 would blaze me for, even planned a story called "첫눈 벛꽃" (first snow and cherry blossoms) that critiqued the countries attitude towards ending the war or at the bare minimum making relations with the neighboring country. I was going to write it this summer but then the jekyll and hyde hyperfixation consumed me and now i lost the motivation)
Anyways im hoping no one reads this cause I really just needed something to yell at before I went insane

6 and 24 for all of Rabies
6. What were they like at school? Did they enjoy it? Did they finish? What level of higher education did they reach? What subjects did they enjoy? Which did they hate?
Meilin: She and Lucille were homeschooled, so they never got to experience public or private school life. She didn't really enjoy it much, since there were so many distractions. She doesn't like any subject, but she excels in math.
Chris: He was the usual outcasted weirdo, keeping to himself and thinking that the cool kids were his friends (when really, they just made fun of him). Chris didn't like the learning aspect, but did enjoy the social aspect of it. But because of his illness, it prevented him from going beyond. He dropped out in his early sophomore year after being kicked out. His favorite subject was art, but he hates biology the most.
Jayu: In a North Korean school, every student is expected to excel in everything. Jayu was the best in his district and often sought out for performances. Unfortunately, he was unable to finish school because he and his family got arrested and sent to a camp. His favorite subject was music. He says he doesn't have a class he dislikes, but dealing with computers was a challenge for him.
Ryan: Being a menace follows him everywhere. Dude was so bad that he was kicked out of three schools before the end of his freshman year of high school. Surprisingly, he managed to graduate in time (with a solid 2.0!) Fujio does wish that his son did better on his education. His favorite subject was English and he absolutely hated any and all math classes.
Tony: As a kid, he enjoyed going to school (not for learning, just to play with his friends). But as he grew, he started to see how shitty the school system is and did the bare minimum. He drops out after his sophomore year after being kicked out. He liked P.E. and detested everything else.
June: They have a tiger mom, a multi-millionaire dad, and is expected to inherit a company; what do you think their education is like? June has the most privileged upbringing in the group, even with education. they've spent their entire lives being at private schools, graduating the top of their class and going to college at Colombia University (Richard bribed the school cough)
Eddie: He grew up in a reservation and spent his years going to school there. Eddie did alright there, having a few friends and learning as much as he can. He did had to miss a few days because of housing conditions, he has to take care of his grandparents as they age, and his growing alcohol addiction. His favorite subject was band/music and he dislikes history.
24. What is their sleeping pattern like? Do they snore? What do they like to sleep on? A soft or hard mattress?
Meilin: I'd say Meimei has a normal sleep schedule... If your normal is going to bed at 4 AM and waking up at noon. But hey, she got her recommended 8 hours. She does have her night terrors from time to time and it's terrifying to hear her scream for someone to stop. Mei is not a snorer and will blow anyone with her mind if she hears them snoring. She likes to sleep on her bed, a queen-sized circular soft mattress covered in hot pink and black covers, silky pillows, and various Hello Kitty plushies. She'll sleep a bit longer after a night of partying.
Chris: Does anyone see this dude sleeping?? Honestly, he's a wild card when it comes to sleep. He's either awake for three days or he's sleeping for 16 hours. He's a champion for heavy sleepers and he moves a lot. If his nose is a bit stuffy, he'll snore a little bit. Chris sleeps on anything that's flat or comfy; he'll sleep on the floor, on a table, on the edge of a couch, leaning on a door, etc.
Jayu: He has the sleep schedule of a regular jack-off; goes to bed at 8 PM (if possible) and wakes up at 5 AM. He sleeps like the dead; no sounds and no movements, but is easy to wake up just by coughing. He likes to sleep in a comfortable bed, but with a firm mattress. Soft mattresses give ache his muscles.
Ryan: He'll sleep whenever he wants, but gets less than 7 hours of sleep. He does snore, but they're quiet. He moves a bit and sometimes will say something while snoozing, mostly they're just "huh?" or "fuck." Ryan likes to sleep on soft mattresses, as he and his evening friend likes to be comfortable.
Tony: Same with Ryan for sleeping habits, though he does have a job. When I tell you that Tony snores, he SNORES. He's gotten used sleeping on hard surfaces, so ofc he has a hard mattress. He's also fine with sleeping on couches and chairs, though he does have to get used with how small they are.
June: Because they have free will now, June gets to sleep at whatever time they want, though they are a hardcore insomniac. Their usual schedule lasts for 4-5 hours, with some waking hours. They're not a snorer and they are a light sleeper. They like soft mattrasses, but it still doesn't help them to fall asleep. Maybe a melatonin gummy or two... or three.
Eddie: Another guy who sleeps like a jack-off, this time going to bed at 10 PM to 6 AM. He does snore, but it's not obnoxiously loud. He won't admit it, but he does hug his pillow at times. He likes to sleep on comfortable surfaces, like his bed or a couch. He has slept on rougher surfaces before.

You know what i've been thinking about? If Aaron was raised on the island, what would his accent be? Cause you see all those studies of the people of multiple countries coming together in remote places having children and their accents are something unheard of. Totally new accent. So by that would Aaron's accent be something like that? A mash of British/Australian/American/Korean/Iraqi/ whatever is wrong with Ben, like a totally new accent. Of course, I'm just condensing like Sawyer has his YeeHaw accent and Mike has a more New York, Hurley is Mexican and while he has an American accent in English when Speaking Spanish It's probably not that sooooo I'm just so curious on if they never left what the fuck their accent would be like. Plus, if they stayed on the island and Jin Suns kid was born there and in the future more babies would they inherit the same accent? Like say in this scenario Juliet/Sawyer or Kate/Jack or even fucking Charlie/desmond had children would they too inherit this new dialect/Accent thats contained to them only?Like would they create their own unique accent?, and when Aaron gets older he gets with Ji Yeon (which is so funny like the show runners were like yeah at the end they're still watching Bluey, we should totally imply they get together as adults) So if they hypothetically do get together in this idea where they never leave the island would their children help develop this complete unique accent?
funnily enough, you're pretty much describing what caused the australian accent to begin with. they plopped a ton of english and irish people here, added alcohol and a brand new fucked up way to talk was born
yes, studies show that a child's accent comes more from their enviroment more than their parents! hence why i have an adelaide aussie accent rather than my mum's southern english accent. because i grew up here. this also explains why daniel sounds american as opposed to his english mother. thats actually how it works (tho daniel also went to oxford during his teens so he should sound at least a bit more english but be glad we were spared jeremy attempting that)
i like this idea!
okay so, i think in regular world of lost, aaron grows up to have an american accent but with aussie turns of phrase. because i imagine aaron to be raised by claire and kate, in america. and also sawyer, miles, richard and frank are part of his life too. so claire is really outnumbered here. but he refers to her as "mum"
in this au where everybody stays on the island forever? ...probably still american because holy shit theres a lot of americans on this show but you're right, it could be at least a little muddled. i don't think it'd turn into an immediate frankenstein melting pot of aussie, england (north and south), american (yeehaw and otherwise), korean, iraqi and scottish because thats not exactly how accents work, it would take longer. but certain words and phrases would mix in aaron and ji yeon's (and the other hypothetical babies) little brains. and like certain pronunciations would probably be off. like, they'd be somewhat uncanny. also it's probable that these versions of aaron and ji would be so fucking good at accent impressions. oh and in this world, i like to think aaron can speak korean because he'd hear it around him a lot
so i think yeah the next gen in that AU would sound like,,, kinda weird sounding americans? so basically canadians
i've done my own recreational study of linguistics and phonetics in my time but i'd love to hear about this from somebody who knows more about this stuff than me. that'd be neat
also bless you for taking the take to adknowledge that not all the american accents are the same in this show (or in real life). i know i glide past it sometimes but its a fact i'm very aware of too
oh, oh, since you brought this up:
"Hurley is Mexican and while he has an American accent in English when Speaking Spanish It's probably not that sooooo"
i will take the opptunity to once again say that while hurley's voice is whiny american when he's speaking english (in a cute way! no dunk!), when he's speaking spanish his voice is absolutely beautiful
i realise that spanish accent > american accent isn't exactly a hot take but it blows me away because its coming out the same guy
thank you for allowing me to bring that up again. and for your time
#i always end long forms of text in ''thank you for your time'' its a quirk of mine#yeah you heard me#canadian is uncanny valley american. change my mind

Welcome to Samdal-ri, Episode 5:
Yong-pil is adorable, as per usual. I'm giving away my age here, but I do miss being able to run around and play safely as a kid, and now I'd never allow my daughter to, unless we are in an enclosed, safe location.
Even in GRIEF, he's still looking for her?! And she settled for WHAT?! Oh, COME OOOON!! He's so🥹. (How do actresses not FOLD when Ji Chang-wook gives them puppy eyes?! HOW?!)
He doesn't cuss? He is so cute. Samdal-ri still won't open up much, at least about the ex, but from the last couple of episodes, she's getting there, I think...I swear, I love Yong-pil more through each episode.🥰
Again. I LOVE the trope of older Korean women being strong, caring, and TERRIFYING. You don't mess with them, but GOD HELP YOU if you mess with their babies. Honorable mention, if the lead is a powerful supernatural being who trembles at the might of an older human woman.
Hm. Both male leads KINDA look similar, although he's not showing any tendencies yet. They're not competing over Sam-dal...yet? Why do people keep asking if Yong-pil is uncomfortable, and they do the most to keep them apart? Oh. They both got her medicine.
Ugh, that weird bastard...why is he so obsessed with taking her down? It's already happened. What more does HE NEED?!
GET THEM, MAMA! PROTECT YOUR BABIES! They spend WAY too much time worrying about those two. I have the feeling that their gossip, and other factors, led to the breakup. So...I assume that Namdal-ri is another small town that wants to modernize? (I admit, though, a state fair type of park by the seaside sounds amazing, but I also understand that older generations don't like change). Bougie-ass politician...lol...ooh, you're done. DONE.
Oh, no. She's gonna see her ex. BEAT HIS ASS! Wait, that lady must know her reputation! I am CRYING LAUGHING! OH. The side glance of all Korean dramas. Oof. Again. The alcohol consumption is crazy.
The Lambo scene is cute-oh! Oh, he was smooth. Okay, sir. I'm not a material girl. But I like how he did that. Okay, Sang-do. I still love my Yong-pil. But that was cute.
Oh, no...gossiping strikes again. If I ever get to visit Korea, I'm definitely going to find small towns as well as big cities. As much as I love the city, I also think about the country town in North Carolina where I used to visit my grandparents.
Sigh. Here she goes, pushing him away again. Whyyyy? He's always offering his hand, not even as a boyfriend, which I appreciate. He's not doing the whole, "You're here, I'm here, let's get back together", thing.
WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THIS ASSHOLE?! Yong-pil, tap into K2 and WHOOP HIS ASS! Get the WHOLE town on his ass! Oh, the atmosphere got cold REAL QUICK. THAT'S RIGHT BREAK THAT SHIT!! I love them. So much. For all the gossip, they look out for each other.
"Fix it, I don't have that money," I am ROLLING! (Not them trying to fix the camera!😭🤣). I hate that they even need to give that jackass anything. Sang-do with the FLEX!! STAND UP FOR HER, YAS! OMG SOMEONE PUNCH HIM, PLEASE! YES WE LOVE A DASH CAM!!
Aww...you.know what, I think this is my favorite episode so far. Yong-pil🥹. I saw that. Why don't they listen to him at work, though? Or try to silence him? Maybe he wouldn't act out as much. It's...the weather. Listen to that adorable, sweet spaz! Oh...wow. Right in front of him on camera. Ouch. So here we go. Second male lead stuff. Now...I notice that she never asks Sang-do how he found her.🤔
Overall, the best episode so far. I DO hope to see some development for the other two sisters, as I saw in the little preview at the end. Alright, time to watch My Demon.😁

Post Christmas fic or else I'll bomb an orphanage.
sure just note it’s a little brain fart hehe! THERE IS A K!LLING SCENE!! AND GUNS MENTIONED!!
Is it really krampus?
It’s Dec 24, the whole gang is at Akane’s house, they know their devious behaviors is gonna cause them to have krampus beat their asses.
“You know what I don’t like about krampus?” Said Akane. “What?” Said SpongeBob, clearly intrigued. “I don’t like that he’s German.” Said Akane, “ohh that’s rich coming from the JAPANESE ULTRANATIONALIST!” Said both SpongeBob and Mr.Krabs. Klaus, from American Dad, who was on the counter as he’s a literal fish, said “What’s wrong with Germans?”. They all ignored him. “Well I’m obviously not going to get into this conversation because I’m Finnish and a Finnish ultranationalist.” Said Patrick, as he was cooking non alcoholic glögg. “Also, hey Sandy, are you a Neo confederate?” Asked Patrick. “Why no, I’m not, not all Texans or southerners are Neo confederates.” Said Sandy, kind of mad. SpongeBob walked over to baby Squidward, who was on his gaming set up, on Yandex chat. “Oh hey there little fella, what ya doing?” SpongeBob said, he noticed the whole thing is in Russian, and random men doing pickle reveals, he started screaming, Mr.Krabs came and saw, then started to get Cold War flashbacks, he started shitting and having a seizure. Obviously Patrick pulls out his M28-30 and shoots the screen screaming “VITTU SATAANA PERKELE!” The computer shuts off, Akane gets pissed at Patrick and points her katana at him.
Suddenly, you heard noise from the roof and outside.
It wasn’t krampus coming…
IT WAS BIG DICK RANDY!!
(Insert the Christmas big dick randy lyrics that haven’t came out yet)
Wait…someone else is coming…!
Leroy the redneck reindeer comes out of nowhere and shoots big d randy with a revolver, while doing rebel yells.
“THANK YOU UNCLE LEROY!” Said Sandy, happily.
“No problem…anyways…”
Suddenly, Patrick spoke up, “you know if he was a Russian commie bastard I could’ve taken care of him within a few seconds.”
“Oh, but I am.” Said Big dick randy, taking his mask off, revealing he’s Ruvyszat from FNF. Patrick got the M28-30 out and shot him while screaming the lyrics to sakkijarven polka.
Bonnie and foxy from FNAF patted his back “your ancestors would be proud, that dude was a former KGB agent.” Said foxy, Bonnie nodded. “Well, let’s all have a great Christmas!”
Everyone started square dancing to the song “Leroy the redneck reindeer.”
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
-you see Minilla by the classical Christmas fire place, the classical scenery, with a cup of non alcoholic glögg.-
“What did we learn kids? That Finland will overthrow Russia and create a Uralic expansion. Btw I’m not Japanese I’m South Korean. South Korea will overthrow North Korea, Japan will continue to pay heavily for comfort women and all their crimes. LONG LIVE THE USA!! GOOD TO BE A OREGON RESIDENT!!” Screamed Minilla.

Kishida continues shallow MRA-style apologies for war crimes
From an Al Jazeera article regarding ROK’s President Yoon and Japan’s Fumio Kishida meeting amidst recent “threats” from the DPRK (North Korea):
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has told South Koreans that his heart hurts when he thinks of suffering and pain during Japanese colonial rule, as Seoul and Tokyo seek to mend ties amid nuclear threats from North Korea.
Kishida’s bilateral visit on Sunday is the first by a Japanese leader to Seoul in 12 years.
It returns the trip South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol made to Tokyo in March, as they sought to close a chapter on the historical disputes that have dominated Japan-South Korea relations for years.
Speaking to reporters at a briefing after the summit, Kishida stopped short of offering a new official apology for wrongs committed under the 1910-45 occupation, but said his government inherits the stance of earlier administrations, some of which have issued apologies.
“For me personally, my heart hurts when I think of the many people who endured terrible suffering and grief under the difficult circumstances of the time,” he said, without elaborating.
Does this at all sound familiar to something Nobusuke Kishi, father of Shinzo Abe and friend of Sun Myung Moon, said and did?
Kim Jong-pil in his later years claimed that Nobusuke Kishi "had a deep understanding of Korea" and allegedly said to him, “Japan tormented Korea. I apologize as a Japanese. Though the past days were not good, I wish Korea and Japan will holds hands and that Korea will be revived.” (source)
It seems that Japanese political leadership have internalized the MRA’s lessons from over half a century ago, as they have routinized the “polite” and deceitful forms of politicking imported into Japan and Korea by the MRA.
Excerpted from “The conservative imaginary: moral re-armament and the internationalism of the Japanese right, 1945–1962” by Reto Hofmann:
The generalized interest in MRA stemmed from its message about moral reconciliation and Buchman’s means to achieve it through an unofficial diplomacy based on a wide global network of actors and centres. Buchman’s teachings were based on his so-called Four Moral Absolutes – absolute honesty, absolute purity, absolute unselfishness, and absolute love – the application of which would bring about harmony. While initially Buchman focused on the internal harmony of the individual (MRA was the parent organization of Alcoholics Anonymous), he extended this message to include social harmony: if labour and management set aside their differences, a harmonious workplace could be reached and, as a result, social conflict eliminated. After the Second World War, Buchman was emboldened enough to promote what he now called MRA’s ‘ideology’ on the international arena. The war had left open wounds among nations, and MRA would provide a forum for leaders to reconcile with each other – this was the rationale for MRA’s championing Franco-German rapprochement through meetings between Adenauer and Schumann. To promote these encounters, MRA set up centres around the world, the most important of which were in Caux (Switzerland), Mackinack (United States), and Odawara (Japan) (Sack 2009, 53).
Everything in the above paragraph not only reveals the political tactics of Kishida and Kishi, but also the Unification Church, an organization that largely inherited the political and cultural foundation of the MRA, including the “four moral absolutes.”

MRA and the politics of reconciliation
The Imperial Ghost in the Neoliberal Machine (Figuring the CIA) - Koichiro Osaka
Two excerpts from this essay
Imperialists had little problem joining the US camp and claiming themselves anti-communist; their concern was the emotional barriers and obstacles in international diplomacy due to resentment toward Japanese war crimes. The Moral Re-Armament movement (MRA) became a magnet for these war criminals, including Kishi and Sasagawa. Initially a Christian evangelical reform movement promoting public confession and repentance, MRA shifted its focus from a spiritual movement to a socio-political one, promoting “industrial harmony” as a rapprochement between capital and labor. These ideas materialized in economic and ethical agendas, and worked favorably for the benefit of the former Sugamo inmates.
Philanthropist Sasakawa was a key figure in the Japanese MRA. Before the war, he personally met Mussolini to echo Frank Buchman’s program “to promote plans for a Japan-US-Britain-Nazi Germany alliance against the Soviet Union” (MRA had affinity with German Nazis).18 Sakawa’s friendship with German economist and President of the Reichsbank Hjalmar Schacht was seen as a consummate advantage, given the latter’s experience in fascist economic planning and Germany’s economic recovery from hyperinflation.
MRA was known for its ancillary role in the creation of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) in 1952, precursor to the EU, and developed increasing influence in Africa and Asia that needed facilitation for independence through the reconciliation of conflicting groups. As soon as he was released from prison, Kishi joined the movement and established himself with the main CIA-controlled power brokers, quickly forming a Japanese faction of this right-wing cult. Through MRA, Kishi spent time with Konrad Adenauer and Robert Schuman, and deepened his relationships with other political leaders to align with the Wall Street-centered economic operation. The MRA’s musical, The Vanishing Island (1955), which toured to Taiwan and Manila, also paved the way for Kishi’s visits to promote “reconciliation.”19
MRA was an anti-communist initiative that proved immensely effective amongst business leaders. The red purge in the Japanese corporate sector was already taking place during the US occupation from 1949 to 1951, as a series of arbitrary layoffs for a variety of accusations levied to unilaterally label people “Red”—including Japanese Communist Party members, socialists, and labor union activists. The executive ordinance by Yoshida Shigeru in 1949, then Japanese Prime Minister, stipulates the disbandment of “undemocratic” organizations. As a result of this, “in the ‘corporate restructuring’ at Toshiba in July 1949, some 4,581 workers, including 202 Communist Party members, were laid off.”20
Konosuke Matsushita, Founder of Panasonic, was also introduced to MRA in order to “protect” his company from the communist menace. Decades later, in the 1980s, the graduate school he established, the Matsushita Institute of Government and Management, became a breeding ground for neoliberal thinkers and pro-American conservatives with fanatic market fundamentalism. They suppressed communist unionists in different ways: by advocating for Yuaikai, an organization with Christian leanings meant to benefit workers' welfare. The Japanese Trade Union Confederation (Rengo) was also formed as a counter structure to the communist unions. This movement endorsed the ethos of “industrial harmony” through labor efficiency. The Prime Minister at the time was an ardent member of MRA too, and along with Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan, instilled a neoliberal ideology and policy model. In corporate culture, MRA promoted self-empowerment programs based on utilitarian philosophies and enhanced business ethics, fostering a consensus for Corporate Social Responsibility.
Japan’s MRA is located at the headquarters of the Japan Center for International Exchange (JCIE), and the secretariat of the Trilateral Commission, which represented the Rockefellers’ interests. John D. Rockefeller III, known for his philanthropic efforts for the Asian Cultural Council, the Japan Society, and so on, went along on several diplomatic trips to Japan in the late 1950s. On such occasions, Rockefeller was invited to Kishi's home and negotiated with Japanese business leaders from a close position. With the active support from the US State Department, the CIA began to formulate a host of Rockefeller-initiated operations in Japan, committed to a policy of austerity and limited trade. The MRA-JCIE functioned as a central platform for the CIA's programs, facilitating exchange programs for elite politicians and businesspeople to conduct operations in the name of “civil diplomacy.”
The Rockefellers were deeply involved in this picture. If there is any reason why they open an intervention into Japan, it was their commitment to experimenting with a zero-growth austerity plan. These commitments were spelled out in the Limits to Growth and Eugenicist programs of the Club of Rome, which were both modeled after Schacht's economic programs for Nazi Germany.21 David Rockefeller, who penned a senior thesis entitled Destitution through Fabian Eyes (1936), was embedded in the center of this plan.
2. Kishi was perhaps the most reactionary of all prime ministers in postwar Japan, taking full advantage of this tumultuous and confused period. In the short term of only three years, he tried to revise the Police Duties Execution Act to maximize the power of the police authorities, to restore Empire Day to the calendar, to instill “moral” lessons and the mandatory singing of the national anthem in the school—all template parameters for nationalist politicians. Kishi backed up numerous organizations of right-wing causes including Korea's Unification Church, the Asian People’s Anti-Communist League, the Moral Re-Armament Movement, and served as an adviser for the association of war veterans (Nihon Goyu Renmei) and of the national fascists (Sokoku-boei Doshi-kai).
