kinda rushed and also a little bit of a wip, au concept, very half baked, cuz tryna figure out how ray would fit into it is my hugest issue but lil outfit/role swap of emma and norman, mostly just wanted to draw tpn fanart again as its been a lil bit since i have
#i cant tell what roleswap scenario would be interesting#emma and norman swap places in most ways. emma wants to eliminate the demons / norman wants peace OR#emma goes to lambda/norman goes to goldy pond HOWEVER emma still wants peace. and norman still wants to eliminate the demons#like is their opposite views on demons moreso a result of the things they experienced After leaving grace field?#or does it rely more heavily on just who they are and how they were raised AT grace field#would the experiments at lambda be able to push emma into wanting to kill the all the demons?#would meeting yuugo/lucas/everyone at goldy pond. would meeting mujika/sonju make norman want peace?#i feel like it wouldnt. i think it would change things a lot but i feel like their initial goals could remain the same#i mean ultimately they fit perfectly in the spot of the story that they are in#but its fun to think abt#i jsut need to figure out how ray would be changed. i thought abt it too much in the context of norman and emma#i generally need to just draw and talk about ray more. i make wayyy too much art of norman and emma idk smth about their dynamic just drive#me a little insane /pos#tpn#tpn fanart#art#digital art

ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONISM 🎨 love, ur local art mom 🩵
disclaimers and more information under the cut ✂️
hi I’m annemarie and I’m an art historian! not adjuncting for the first time in five years was rly hard for me so I threw some slides together so I could still (sort of) teach the same material as my language of art class but a) I threw these slides together for instagram so space was/is limited and b) language of art is a ten week run through art history so I’m presenting only the most accessible information here – there’s so much more to this art period and to these artists! – please don’t expect it to be comprehensive and please do ask if you have any questions!
oh p.s. my first ever class of art history students came up with the name ‘art mom’ for me at the end of the quarter and yes it does make me cry if I think about it too long thanks so much for asking

When you backread through a fun conversation you had with someone for hours an angel gets its wings
#I was talking to my brother about Norman doors and I had fun in my UX class and he was telling me about demon cores and the trolley problem#in his class. AND I remembered to take my meds today so I can feel every cell in my body. i can feel the neurons rubbing together#and yesterday I infodumped about the specialists bullseye chart to crow and how it ties with witch hat atelier#WHICH I MANAGED TOGET THEM TK READ IM SO HAPPY. I MAKE SQUEALING GUINEA PIG NOISES EVERY TIME THEY TELL ME WHAT THEYVE READ SO FAR. AHH#i might not even be scratching the surface with witch hat there are so many themes i could not possibly fathom or go over my heasd#and thats what makes it so exciting there are so many spaces in between that you can fill with your thoughts and i. i#waves my hands around manically#for anyone interested in my insane ramblings. the bullseye chart is from are we all scientific experts now by harry collins#in my own words its basically saying everything we know about anything is a game of broken telephone#and it discusses how information gets lost in translation between experts and laymen including things that arent in control#one of the main points was how things that happen between experts are complicated including debates and findings#that you can only really understand thru research and experience in that field and cant be smoothly shared without it being reworded#and risking some of those key points. or even concepts that are hard to understand that cant be shared at all#like if you tried to tell me about how DNA works using words scientists are familiar with but i am NOT- i risk missing concepts that i need#to understand to know how it works on the level you understand. or i risk having it reworded and understanding it but not on that level#AND IT DOES TIE TO WITCH HAT THE WITCH AND NORMAL FOLK COMMUNITIES I PROMISE. ITS SO INTERESTING#anyway i spent hours reading back thru that conversation and i might as well admit it goes for almost every fun conversation i have#and it might be the 20mg of adderall in my body but i am in such a state of peace and love i have to verbalize it. ahh#yapping

perhaps my most niche TPN opinion is that the cattle children should have distinct and slightly twangy accents depending on the farm they grew up on
#i’m right#like how fun would it be if there was a distinct Glory Bell accent and a Grace Field accent#and what if Norman picked up a particular Lambda twist to his speech that never goes away#the promised neverland

Norman's Reason of Murder, Analysis
(Inclued Ray and Emma too but mainly Norman)
Norman decides he must kill the demons because it's the only way his family can survive when there's truly no Neverland to escape to. Those who insult hard on Norman for murder overlook this: Norman was dying, and before he died, he wanted to leave a world to live in for the people he valued most in life and for whom he had worked for years. He thought he had no other choice, he would bear the price of this murder, he should bear this burden. All of these come from the responsibility and sense of justice he has felt since childhood. Just like Ray decides he can take the burden of killing people when Minerva's first shelter is found. "I am ready to carry this burden."
Because Ray has been carrying the burden of the truth for years. Emma was also ready to take on the burden of every child she encountered and the responsibility of her life. Even if Emma's failure meant the children would die, Emma did not consider failing. The burden Norman is trying to carry is the same as Emma and Ray, but unlike the two of them, Norman sees himself as deformed after Lambda. He thinks that no matter what he does, they will not accept him as his old, true self, but Ray was thinking almost the same. (Did i mention i love norray). Ray believed that he had no place with his family and that he had to die at the end of the 6-year plan because Ray think their family doesn't show him understood because Ray watched their siblings die for years and they might thought Ray's humanity was destroyed. But there wasn't a rule for humanity in that world. Ray had Emma by his side to shake him, but Norman didn't have Emma at first. I want to hug Emma, she needs to shake me too. Emma, on the other hand, could push herself up, her psychological endurance at a level I could never have imagined.
Back at Norman, he was deathly afraid of ever hoping again, believing that his plans and dreams were destroyed forever so he afraid to trust Emma and Ray about Mujika, afraid to believe there was another world. He think, he dissapointed hard after this and all of his family die. Norman wasn't bad, Isabella wasn't bad, they never were. Because when all the information you have about the outside world is likely to be fake, when you have spent years surrounded by lies and the truth is hitting you like a slap in the face, you cannot learn to do something that society deems evil because you aren't learn "act evil for gain" If one sheep bites another while running through the meadows, will we call it bad? It's not the same as a murder in the world we live.
In this panel Norman says : I hope in your next life, you enjoy life like a human.
They never carried like humans.
Norman get away too, too much suffering and try to create a world humans can live. Norman is right
Also
They feel peace in this panel because they were accepted, they were each other and they feel incalculable trust for each other
#norman and ray parallels ily#ughhhh i love them#sooooo much#i miss them they deserve all universe#the promised neverland#tpn#yakusoku no neverland#ynn#tpn emma#tpn ray#tpn norman#i'll have to make Gilda analysis#grace field#william minerva#analysis#tpn analysis#neverland#22194#lambda#goldy pond

gonna be so real, as an English bastard I don't understand when people are like "england is one of the most beautiful places on earth!!" like yeah ok. Fields and woods and little villages are always nice. But have you been literally anywhere else? Americans, you've SEEN America right? You've seen gigantic redwoods and lakes the grand canyon right?
#was watching that episode of Ride where Norman and Jeffrey go to london#and dude was raving about it being one of the most beautiful places in the world#and it's a soggy fucking field with a pig in it#you have a travel show dude. you've seen the world. I know you lying
