Trainers who I feel and think are from other regions.
Surge is confirmed to be a Unovan helping Kanto assisting the war against the Johto.
Hoenn Champion May Emerald used to live in Olivine City before her family moved to Hoenn in Littleroot, as her father Norman Emerald recently because the new gym leader of Petalberg town.
Brawly to me gives and feels like he originally came from Alola, and he's somewhat related to Kahuna Hala and Hau.
Juan is definitely from Paldea no doubt.
As for Fantina... She's either Kalosian, Galarian, or having both heritage with her parents I don't know but she usual speaks a bit of a Kalosian accent so... Maybe Kalosian?

The Wizard's backstory was ret-conned and white-washed in the later books, but he was unambiguously a villain in Marvelous Land of Oz. Baum has him straight-up give baby Ozma to Mombi to hide so that he doesn't get ousted as the ruler of Oz.
Though, I should note that calling him "the ruler of Oz" is debatable considering the cardinal witches still ruled the four quadrants of Oz, leaving him with only Emerald City in the middle.
My pairing of Oscar Diggs and Mombi might seem like a bit of a crack ship at first glance, but it makes a lot of sense when you think about it. What motivation does Mombi have to hide Ozma for Oscar? I doubt a trade of some humbug magic tricks would be enough to convince her. It's not too big of a stretch to imagine them as about the same age, either.
Of course, you might find out I've gone in a slightly different direction for my version.

In L. Frank Baum’s novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (1900), the Emerald City is the capital of Oz, which was built early on in the reign of the Wizard to be the seat of his power. It is believed by the common folk that everything within the city is green, and they are all made to wear green eyeglasses, supposedly to protect their eyes from damage caused by the brilliance of the city.
By the end of the novel, though, it is revealed that only the outer walls are truly uniformly green, while everything within is “no more green than any other city.” The eyeglasses created the illusion of greeness.
However, partway through the first of the sequels, The Marvelous Land of Oz (1904), the glasses disappear, the city seems to genuinely be green, and, to my knowledge, the false-greenness plot point/factoid is never brought up again. The Emerald City is also retconned to have existed before the time of the Wizard, when Pastoria was king.
I get why Baum would have wanted The Emerald City—the capital of Oz, the main color of which is green—to be genuinely emerald-colored. But there was a solution to this that would have avoided retconning this particular charade of the Wizard.
He could have had Ozma magic the city into being green.
The final chapter of The Marvelous Land of Oz makes a point of Ozma’s superiority to the Wizard.
“The Wonderful Wizard was never so wonderful as Queen Ozma,” the people said to one another, in whispers; “for he claimed to do many things he could not do; whereas our new Queen does many things no one would ever expect her to accomplish.”
-L. Frank Baum, The Marvelous Land of Oz
Ending the tale with a transformation of the Emerald City would have vindicated this idea very nicely. It would have drawn an excellent contrast between Ozma and the Wizard, and it would have set up an amazing parallel between this novel and the first one. The city of emeralds, which was once revealed to be plain, is now transformed into something truly verdant and glorious- though maybe not so glorious that its denizens have to don protective eyewear. This transformation at the hands of Ozma would have been strong evidence to the people of Oz that her claim to power is “legitimate.”
Pastoria could have just ruled from some other, less urban capital.
It occurs to me, though, that at this point, the idea of Ozma as the daughter of the fairy queen Lurline had not yet been introduced. She was but a human princess, and there was no implication that she had any special latent magical power. Maybe Glinda could have made the transformation- but, then, she believes that transformations are “dishonest.” And it would have undermined the singular glory of Ozma’s ascension.
Someone needs to use this idea (the version where Ozma makes the city green) in some sort of adaption or transformative work. I would say that I’ll do that it if I ever create my own interpretation of Oz, but I highly doubt I ever will make my own interpretation.

In defense of the hoenn league, I feel like a solid 10% of them are doing okay mentally
A good ol’ ten percent. It might be more than that. Let’s go through it!
Roxanne- She’s… okay. She had a severe panic attack in the story because she originally wasn’t picked to be gym leader until Steven put in good word for her.
Brawly- Probably the most well adjusted out of every single character in the story.
Wattson- Just very jolly, arguably uses it as a coping mechanism to all the dark shit that happens.
Flannery- Er. Doesn’t apply. The freshest gym leader, and has the need to prove herself. Becoming a gym leader in wake of the Hoenn crisis does a number on her.
Norman- This is probably the most normal guy in the story, which makes him an outcast lol but his daughter saving the region really irks at him. He had to be held back by the elites. He has a temper if his family is in danger. It’s actually refreshingly normal.
Winona- Not really the best mentally as a teenager. She still hasn’t fully let go of the fact that Wallace gave up a champion position for her. She thinks about it over and over that SHE could’ve been champion.
Liza and Tate- …lmao. Okay. This is a really interesting pair to look at. Liza and Tate…they belong to a group of a league members in which becoming one actually makes them behave worse - though they also have issues outside of it that I’ll get into later on in the story (and in a separate story with six chapters). In the beginning when introduced they were sweet, but they are thirteen when Magma and Aqua are around. Thirteen. And that’s when the problems start. When they become teenagers. Before they acted too immature, and then you’ll see them swing in the other direction. It’s not healthy.
Juan- In the story he never gets a girlfriend again after Clara died. He never coordinates again because of Clara. When his apprentice Wallace has his desires to get into it he is afraid for his life. Juan constantly stresses all the time, because Wallace makes his hair grey. When Wallace becomes champion, even more so.
Wallace- Lmao no this man is daddy issues personified, had a coke problem, displays extreme narcissism to cover up his deep insecurities, I could go on really.
Sidney- He is not okay as much as people thinks he is. He’s haunted by his own family tree’s past.
Phoebe- She is absolutely kooky. But I think her past before entering the league is something she tries hard to forget, and lives in fear that it could come up at any moment, so she covers it up with acting more kooky than she typically is.
Glacia- Having to seek asylum is traumatizing.
Drake- He once downed an entire bottle of vodka and kept it down. Enough said.
Steven- One of the more normal champions. Rants and rambles about rocks to his boyfriend Wallace. Rich boy problems *shrug*
-
So what’s the scoreboard?
3/15
That’s 20 percent! :)

The Part Where I Fight My Dad - Team Objective plays Pokemon Emerald
Hello, loyal viewers! Last time we caught a new super special friend! However...
As lovely as this Baltoy is, I'd rather bring my current team along to handle our next objective. The next battle is no place for new blood...
Petalburg city. My dad is the leader here, now. I've been away from family for such a long time, but then I moved back in with mom, only to immediately leave to pursue my ideals...the ideals of promoting OBJECT POKEMON, that is!
...Anyway. I'm just not sure how to feel about this..
...Dad is waiting at the back of the gym. Time to head in. Let's steel ourselves...
PETALBURG GYM, I'VE COME TO...Wait, dad, what are you doing out front. What? My badges? Wait-
Oh
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Fiddlesticks.
Uhhhhhh.
we're goin' back to Dewford
Brawny or whatever your name is, let's make this quick. Family emergency.
OK Thnx bye
back to Petalburg-
Ugh. Stinky, hairy creatures. I never understood everyone's obsession with these guys, especially not my dad's. I never was much into them in the first place, but after I discovered my love of Object Pokemon, he and I became more distant. It had to be because he didn't agree with my tastes.
It must have.
Let's do this, old man! I'll teach you a lesson! About OBJECT POKEMON!
Stop being so happy!
Bulwark, you've been my lead into every gym battle (that mattered) before, and that's not going to change now!
Teeter Dance, yikes. Hit through, Bulwark! Come on!
We hit ourselves once, but now we finally get off the Mud-slap! Lower its accuracy!
It's missed a couple moves by now! Big damage, Metal Claw into Iron Tail! Take it out!
Spinda's done! Nice job, B-oh come on dad, Really? You're switching into your ace immediately?
...Hm. Maybe this isn't a bad thing after all...
Bulwark! Just like before! You know what to do...and Slaking has half the turns to fight back from this!
Dad had just been spamming counter, but now that Slaking's low it's going for Faint Attack...doesn't do much, but that messes with our plans a little. Still, we persevere!
Slow it down with some Rock Tombs, Bulwark!
Now, Goo Goo! Come in and give it some Screeches!
Goo Goo took some hits, but now it's time for my own ace to hit the field! StepStone, come in and defense curl! That now boosts the power...
...of ROLLOUT! Faint Attack did a lot, but with minimum defense even this first should be enough to KO from here...
And it is! StepStone, Rollout into his next sloth thing, too!
Rolling! Rolling! Rolling! You can't stop the rolling!
His final pokemon! Take this last Slash hit, StepStone...
Yes! 5 HP! Now, land the Rollout!
YES! We DID it! My team conquers yours, Dad, with less pokemon used from my side! What do you have to say to that, huh!?
...What? You're just...proud of me? Happy and a little sad-Dad, what are you saying?
You...wanted to understand my interests and you...didn't know how? And I never reached out, so...it just went quiet, between us?
...Maybe I do need therapy.
I don't know what to think of anything right now. Except-my team. I'm proud of them all so, so much. They've really come into their own in battle. They're all beautiful and wonderful Object pokemon. I love them. I know that much.
I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing. Maybe I just need to consider how I do it.
And Dad...I'm sure there's an object pokemon out there for you, too. Do they have Porygon here?
Team: StepStone the Graveler (F) Bulwark the Aron (M) Skybomb the Koffing (F) Goo Goo the Grimer (F) Patricia the Nosepass (F) Sungaze the Solrock

More AniRedux?
Juan doesn't have any official art outside of RSE and the anime so I had to improvise on his redesign and went straight for a 'pompous' look (he's technically Paldean Royalty and it basically became his personality in the funniest way possible)
May takes more after PokeSpe Sapphire with her design and personality,Wally is her step-brother since Norman remarried after he and May moved to Hoenn when she was still a toddler
Norman himself didn't have too many design tweaks, still staying close to his ORAS one since it's already pretty fitting but now with the addition to a flower design on his jacket to represent both Petalburg and Cherrygrove
Brendan is...an enigma,I originally wanted him to be a field researcher alongside Birch (yes they both get chased by all the Poohyena and Zigzagoon,it's a familial curse) but then I thought a bit more and came up with an alternate one where he is a part of Hoenn's Ranger Corp along with possibly being a secret member of Aqua
Given a bit more thought I think I might make them separate characters with Brendan being the field assistant and his older design being Emerald (they aren't related but often get mistaken for being siblings) Brendan would be closer to May's age whereas Emerald would be in his late 20s
#pokemon#aniredux!au#pokemon juan#pokemon may#pokemon norman#pokemon brendan#Emerald of course is just a codename#his actual name is Yuuki but not many people outside of Aqua know that

Summary:
Just because the Magma-Aqua crisis is over, doesn't mean things stop happening in Hoenn. And the league members? Well, the only way they help is by making Steven Stone's hair grayer with the predicaments they find themselves in. He can pray that Wallace, his boyfriend, won't make it worse. It's a big ask, but they make it work.
Well, eventually.
-
Steven/Wallace pairing, set in Steven's POV, with appearances of the Hoenn elite four and gym leaders. Set in the same universe as my ongoing story The League Chronicles, where Steven and Wallace regularly appear.

Forecast: Steven! - Team Objective plays Pokemon Emerald
With these two at my side, the oceans and skies can no longer stand in my way!
Hello, loyal members of Team Objective! Last time, we crossed the waves and reformatted the team going forward! This time, we head east of Mauville to finally see what's up ahead.
In the time between, I've gained enough fundings to outfit the team with some TM moves. Wish I had more, but we are...still pretty scrapped for cash.
(...I'll need solid funding if this is to be a serious endeavor...)
WHATEVER! Steven's here. let's see what he wants!
...Steven, you've met me, right? Of COURSE I'm only going to use my favorites! Object pokemon are my entire identity!
Ignore the HM user Marill.
Uh, sure? Will you have better pokemon than birds in suits of armor by then? Gotta say, your lineup has been pretty disappointing.
This jungle is quite beautiful, but really doesn't have what I'm looking for. We're here for objects, not objectively beautiful scenery!
Team Aqua's raining this weather institute! And they just threatened to KILL ME!
Fat chance!
I know I am! You're disgustingly weak!
Team Magma again, too? Heading for Mt. Pyre...I think I've heard of that. It's the local pokemon gravesite, like the Lost Tower back home. If that's the case, it's worth a look...
Wha-HUH? They're giving me a pokemon!?
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MY GOD IT'S ABORABLE.
The scientists are filling me in about this thing! A pokemon MADE by science? It's like Porygon! And it manipulates the WEATHER...It's body is made of cells like water molecules! It's basically a living cloud! I love it!
Sadly, my team doesn't really have the space for Castform at the moment. I wonder if Dad would like it? Maybe I'll send it over.
Oh, it's Bozo again. He was really strong last time we fought, quite the roadblock actually-but we've grown exponentially since then! Let's crush him.
Not even worth commenting on. Loser.
HA! I made him mad! Wait, who are you again? Eh, who cares.
This region keeps nailing it with its environments. I don't think I could live in a place where bugs fly in the window every day, though. Give me a volcanic cave or a polluted factory any time.
Let's not waste our time here. We can probably wrap up gym number six today-
...
W H A T.
I...guess we go forward, then?
That pokemon looks even more like a beach ball than marill, but I can tell it's a whale. A mammal masquerading as a fish masquerading as an object. How strange.
Oh, hello again Steven. What's that, you want me to prove myself against...one of these invisible things? Well, that's fortuitous. Still, we've known each other this long and I still have no idea what you're all about other than being the kid of a CEO.
Anyway. I hope this invisible pokemon is a ghost! Maybe it's possessing something cool?
Oh it's a lizard. Whatever. Hey. 'Splodey, wanna use your namesake?
Glorious.
And with that, we now have the means to enter the next gym! Turns out we didn't need Steven's thing after all and the lizards still die if you explode near them. Cool! Uuuuuuunfortunately, I've ran all out of time for today. Oh well. Next time it is!
Team Objective, because Object pokemon are Objectively the best!
Team: StepStone the Graveler (F) Skybomb the Koffing (F) Sungaze the Solrock Iris the Baltoy 'Splodey the Electrode Maximum the Magneton
...
He liked it :)
