I love these panels so much, I’m never getting over them not only because of how beautiful they are, but also due to their meaning and how it perfectly shows the characters' feelings.

It’s the part where Penelope tells Callisto she doesn’t love him and his face crumbles, he’s so taken aback by it but for all the wrong reasons, let me elaborate;

(contains some novel spoilers!!)

From the beginning, Callisto knew that Penelope’s confession about how she fell in love with him at first sight was bullshit.

He knows she lied to him on multiple occasions but doesn’t mind at all; it’s stated later on in his pov that despite all the rumors and her deception, Callisto too found it surprising how he didn't get angry.

They also had this conversation in the cave and many other occasions when he teased her about it and she kept on saying that she wasn’t in love with him anymore.

However each time Penelope claimed to not be in love with him, Callisto was either amused or grumbled about it playfully.

It’s the setting that changes things. Back then it was all teasing and her getting fed up with him and his successful attempts at eliciting some sort of reaction out of her.

As the story progresses, their interactions become more tense due to the friction and tension being products of their feelings for one another.

We can see the first signs of Callisto ‘wavering’ during his birthday banquet as Penelope is about to reject him.

He looked crestfallen when she brought up love because he still can’t make sense of it, convinced that his feelings of fondness can’t be related to love—or more like, he’s trying to convince himself it’s like that.

Knowing what is about to come, he shushed her, while admitting to the fact that he knew she was going to reject him, hence why he told her to give him an answer on her coming of age.

It’s all because Callisto hoped she would change her mind and her answer would be the one he hoped for, basically her accepting.

Then in the greenhouse things become more serious. The talk about Penelope’s condition had an impact on the build-up of it.

Penelope is completely serious and firm about her rejection, she is more apathetic due to the impending deadline of hard mode’s ending and things falling apart continuously.

She doesn’t have any control of the things happening around her and it makes her grow more and more anxious, to the point where it all becomes too much and it leads her to resign to her fate.

Callisto’s reaction to it is so strong not only because Penelope kept on pushing him towards another woman (which he doesn’t even know) when all he wanted was to be with her, but because she disregarded his feelings in the process as well.

Penelope goes on to say that she doesn’t love him, and that’s the real nail in the coffin, Callisto is actually in love with her but fails to realize it, but his subconscious seems to be aware of it given his reaction.

It’s a “…she doesn’t love me?” slap in the face realization.

I’m saying this because later in the novel, Callisto reveals that he hid his desire to be with Penelope behind the guise of an arranged marriage because he was afraid to admit being in love with her due to what happened to his parents. You could say he has always loved her from the moment they first met.

Anyhow, Penelope talks about her circumstances and past, saying how while wanting love she also needs and wants someone to take her out of the hell she’s in.

She tells Callisto he’s not that person and he’s absolutely devastated by that statement. He even gets described as dazed in the novel when this scene happens.

It’s a point of no return for Callisto because he still refuses to acknowledge his feelings as love for Penelope.

He can’t have her unless he admits to loving her, but he’s afraid to do so due to his past, he's convinced that if he confesses then she would end up like his mother.

Callisto needs a push, and that push is the fear of losing her forever which comes in the form of Penelope’s poisoning on her coming of age ceremony.

It all boils down to “don’t make any assumptions about my feelings” and “you don’t know what/how I feel” but we don’t get that since Callisto is suppressing it.

He’s angry and rightfully so and Penelope’s earlier apparent indifference doesn’t help either.

But yes, Penelope’s rejection hurt him so much because loves her.

Callisto is conflicted and in denial. It’s like he’s already having an inner battle about his feelings and then Penelope comes and deals the final blow, stomping all over his heart while pushing him away.

"I chose you, Penelope Eckhart. Not your household." and “Does my proposal mean so little to you?” are so telling because it’s clear that he’s been strongly impacted by all of this.

Callisto genuinely wants to be with Penelope and get her to the safety of the palace but went about it the wrong way.

They’re so miscommunication, it will be so long before they get to talk properly about their feeling and we get that love confession I’m not okay T_T

Thinking about all the things that will happen before that is making my head hurt, I’m going back to reading my comfort fanfics…see y’all tomorrow when the beginning of the end begins with more yearning and angst as Callisto will come back :,)

Anyhow his position is interesting because being the second son of a Duke, Reynold doesn’t have as many duties as his older brother.

He isn’t necessarily required to marry to keep the family going by producing a heir, (that’s Derrick’s job), he can if he wants to but he’s not obligated to do so. Reynold could very well remain a bachelor for the rest of his life and no one would bat an eye (tho others would try to offer him marriage proposals with their daughters).

One thing we know for sure, Reynold is pretty dedicated to his knight training as we’ve seen it brought up numerous times whenever he appears.

And although it’s not mentioned, we can assume he wants to become a swords master, he would brag about it at every opportunity too lmao

I always had this one hc where Reynold managed to gain some high function for the imperial knights (to stay close to Penelope and also to ‘keep an eye on Callisto’ but that’s all in his head).

He is talented, so it’s not hard to imagine Callisto seeing some sort of potential in him and granting him that place at the palace, (if he gets the chance to piss off his brother-in-law more often, then that’s an added bonus)

Crying at the realization that Reynold barely had a role in the story-

Was he even mentioned when normal mode was being discussed? As I recall it, Callisto was mentioned killing Penelope and falling in love with Ivonne and making her empress, Winter was mentioned to have turned back time at the end and brought her to the estate, Eckles was loyal to Penelope but switched to Laila's side and took care of her, Derrick... Well his role was also minimal if I recall correctly, but!

...But then there's also the route Penelope's taking in the current timeline, following the plot. So little is mentioned about Reynold!

For example, what are his ambitions? Penelope wants to survive, Callisto wishes to be the perfect emperor, Winter wants to save the world, Derrick wants to be succeed and become a duke that can care for and protect his family Eckles wants freedom, Laila wishes to become immortal and rule the world, *the empress wants to throne her son*, but what of Reynold?

Unless he really, truly, just wanted nothing more than to bully Penelope at first and have her kicked out of the house, and then be one of the babygirls that take care of her without end...?

I try coming up with headcanons about his life during and after the main story, but there's so little to work with (Although it's not just with him for after the main story, but also all the other mls) 😭

I've seen him training, so perhaps he wishes to become a swords master? But it's highly likely it's just because he'll eventually become the commander of knights and he has to do this-

Maybe, he'll work to protect commoners better after learning Penelope's story in the attic scene? Since he's compassionate? Like Robin Hood, as someone once said to me?

Or he could build a fortune gambling-

But I need more about him!!!! Or my life as a Reynold stan will be incomplete-!

I’ve always said this but the uploading schedule is truly hellish and I mean it.

SUOL-nim said that it takes her a week to finish one chapter, and due to this there were a few times where she finished the episode at the limit. This means that aside from the one week break every four chapters, she is unable to rest at all.

This is being overworked at its finest, I really hope we don’t have another manhwa artist sick because of the horrendous uploading schedule.

Honestly I would rather get an episode every two weeks instead because not only will SUOL be able to have more time and be less pressured, but also the quality of the chapters will significantly improve, there would be less reused panels and maybe the episodes will become a little longer too.

Anyhow I really hope she takes care of herself and also makes sure to rest. Hopefully her health will improve 🤍

Without him, we wouldn’t even have gotten the hunting tournament part because he personally vouched for Penelope’s ban to be lifted. Without him stepping in she would’ve still been under ban, which means no trial arc either. How boring would that have been??

He helped her during Soleil too, if he hadn’t intervened Penelope could have died, same for the bear during the hunting competition

The coming of age ceremony, its aftermath and how Callisto was the only one who fully defended Penelope during the investigation without questioning her actions, when the others still weren’t sure whether to blame her or not, this all while she was on her deathbed mind you

Then he came to her aid—running to her from the fucking frontlines, while she was at sea on a ship because he needed to make sure she was alright and wanted to be by her side

When this man comforted her after she had a breakdown about the game and her real world, how he held and consoled her telling her that he will help her do whatever she wanted

How he fought a dragon and almost got killed in the process just to ensure Penelope would achieve her goal. Callisto was ready to give up on his life and let her go if only it meant that she’d be happy—he would have died if Penelope hadn’t used the dragon’s fangs on him by the way

Bland my ass, without Callisto the story would have been so boring, you guys are reaching lmfao, it’s so pathetic. Not to mention he’s one of the best MLs we’ve gotten so far in rofan manhwas, his personality is top notch—just say you don’t like flavor and move on

Callisto is equally important to Winter in the plot, and throughout the novel that was made clear. Callisto has literally been fighting the Laila clan since his youth and that is why Laila chose to brainwashing him and marry him, so that he would stop interfering in her plans and to have access to the dragon's fang. That you only read spoilers and claim to have read the novel is something else apart, and it only proves that you are just as illiterate.

The one who is not relevant at all is Eckles, because that suffering that they mention in the conversation has no place in Laila's fight like you said, so stop saying ignorant things!

It's disgusting that I have to share Winter with these kinds of fans, even Winter has more class than these kinds of people.

Allat is the female counterpart of Allah. Moon-worship implies a pastoral society, whereas sun-worship represents a later agricultural stage. In our own day the Moslem Ruwalah Bedouins imagine that their life is regulated by the moon, which condenses the water vapours, distils the beneficent dew on the pasture and makes possible the growth of plants. (Gesenius Hebrew and Chaldee Lexicon to the Old Testament Scriptures, translated by Samuel Prideaux Tregelles, 1979, p. 367) Allat, according to recent study of the complicated inspirational evidence, is believed to have been introduced into Arabia from Syria, and to have been the moon goddess of North Arabia. If this is the correct interpretation of her character, she corresponded to the moon deity of South Arabia, Almaqah, `Vadd, `Amm or Sin as he was called, the difference being only the oppositeness of gender. Mount Sinai (the name being an Arabic feminine form of Sin) would then have been one of the centers of the worship of this northern moon goddess. Similarly, al-`Uzza is supposed to have come from Sinai, and to have been the goddess of the planet Venus. As the moon and the evening star are associated in the heavens, so too were Allat and al-`Uzza together in religious belief, and so too are the crescent and star conjoined on the flags of Arab countries today. The way Callisto has always looked at Penelope is truly fascinating, and even more so in recent chapters.

He looks at her is if gravity isn’t enough to keep him grounded anymore; like she’s the only thing that matters to him; like sailors turn to the stars for guidance; like a man who’s irrefutably lost due to all the love he feels for her because it’s too much to withstand, all consuming.

The love and admiration in his eyes whenever he looks at her is enough to convey just how deeply Callisto has fallen for Penelope.
