Redmi Note 7 Review
Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 full review Following a Chinese launch in January the Redmi Note 7 officially went on sale in the UK on 7 May, charging straight into the top spot in both our UK and Chinese budget phone charts, knocking the Mi A2 Lite off its perch. It's the first phone from newly spun-off Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi, and as such it marks a huge departure from Redmi as you know it.
Tumblr media
Headlining is a 48Mp dual-lens camera, and Redmi Note 7 was actually the first Xiaomi phone to pack such a high megapixel count - though Mi 9 then came along and did it better. There are some similarities between this budget phone and Xiaomi's flagship, but Redmi Note 7 is much more closely aligned in specs and performance with the Oppo F11 Pro, another Chinese phone that has not yet gone on sale in the UK (and may not ever do so).
It's also got a large 6.3in Full-HD+ screen and promises all day runtime from a 4000mAh battery with Quick Charge 4 support. Plus some users will be very happy to see the inclusion of a traditional 3.5mm headphone jack.
Xiaomi has kept down costs by specifying a mid-range Snapdragon 660 chip and 3- or 4GB of RAM, allowing this budget Android to be available from as little as £179. That's for the 3GB RAM, 32GB storage model, while the 6GB RAM, 64GB storage model we review here costs £199. There's also a 128GB storage version at £249. You can choose from Space Black or Neptune Blue colour options.
Right now GearBest is offering an incredible deal on the entry-level 3GB/32GB option, where it costs just £113.54.
You can also buy Redmi Note 7 direct from Xiaomi, or from retailers such as Amazon. It will also be available on a contract basis from Vodafone.
The Redmi Note 7 is available in Europe from 179€, but if you're looking to buy in the US you'll need to import it from a site such as GearBest or Geekbuying. The latter is currently stocking the global version of the top-end Redmi Note 7 at the discounted price of £170.01/$209.99/185.57€. Do remember to take into account potential import duty fees, which is calculated at 20 percent of the value on the shipping paperwork.

Redmi Note 7 Design & Build Redmi Note 7 is not all that dissimilar in design to the flagship Mi 9, which packs a fractionally larger (6.39in) screen into an ever so slightly smaller chassis. Both have tall 19.5:9 panels and slim bezels - naturally slimmer on the Mi 9, but the only place this is really obvious to the untrained eye is on its smaller chin.
Each also feature a Dot Drop (waterdrop-style) notch to maximise the available screen space and house the selfie camera, which is more obvious on Mi 9 with its larger 20Mp sensor (Redmi Note 7 has a 13Mp front camera). There's also a blink-and-you'll-miss-it slit at the extreme edge between the screen and frame for the earpiece.
Around the back you'll find some more obvious differences, however, with a dual- rather than triple lens camera on the Redmi Note 7, the Redmi rather than Mi logo, and a physical fingerprint sensor. All members of the flagship Mi 9 family now use an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Arguably physical fingerprint sensors typically work better than these early in-display versions, and though it might be a fancy new feature to have the omission is not a game-changer.
Redmi Note 7 review
We tested the Black version so were unable to enjoy the gradient finish of the Blue model, but in pictures it looks gorgeous. With a glass back and front the Redmi Note 7 has a very premium design for a phone at this price point, and is only fractionally thicker than Xiaomi's flagship family at 8.1mm, though you will notice that glossy frame is plastic rather than metal. That extra space inside the case enables it to include a capacious 4,000mAh battery, too, matching the spec of the recently announced Mi 9T.
Something you won't find on Mi 9 phones (save for the Mi 9T) is the Redmi Note 7's 3.5mm headphone jack, which sits on the top edge of the phone alongside another increasingly rare feature: an IR blaster. While phone makers are rapidly making the switch over to USB-C audio, there are still plenty of users who want to use their existing earphones without an adaptor. Redmi Note 7 also has a bottom-firing mono speaker for audio.
At 6.3in the display is expansive, and ideal for watching high-resolution video and playing games. This is not the same AMOLED technology on Mi 9, but it's still good for the money, and actually nearly as bright - we recorded 398 nits using a Spyder. With a 2340x1080 Full-HD+ resolution everything is super-clear, too.
Although the Redmi Note 7 runs MIUI 10, on our review sample the system-wide Dark Mode setting found in the flagships is not available. It's possible this will come in the next update, with the Redmi running 10.3.2.0 and our Mi 9 running 10.3.3.0. This is useful not only because it seems to be the latest trend to do everything in Dark Mode, but because it drastically reduces the screen's impact on battery life.
The Redmi Note 7 also lacks the Ambient Display (always-on) mode found in Xiaomi flagships, which can additionally help you maintain battery life by reducing the frequency with which you feel you need to wake the phone to check the time or notifications. That could be an issue here, since Redmi Note 7 has the most ridiculous notification LED we've ever seen - it flashes up below the screen but is the tiniest little dot you could easily miss it completely.
Redmi Note 7 review
None of Xiaomi's current smartphone line-up is waterproof, though we wouldn't necessarily expect to find this feature at this price anyhow. Xiaomi also keeps down costs by excluding wireless charging from this phone, though it does support Quick Charge 4 and is supplied with a 10W USB-C charger in the box.
As with all Xiaomi phones you'll also find a silicon case is supplied, a nice touch given that these are not easily obtainable in UK High Street stores. The Note 7 does feature Gorilla Glass 5 to help protect it from scratches, but it is not infallible.
Redmi Note 7 Core Hardware & Performance The Note 7 is fitted with a 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 14nm chip, which integrates an 850MHz Adreno 512 GPU. This is a step down from the also mid-range Snapdragon 712 and 730 found in the Mi 9 SE and 9T, but there's not a huge difference in performance - at least not anything the average user would be able to perceive - as you'll see in the comparison chart below.
You'll have seen this chip before, in the likes of the Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite, Xiaomi Mi A2, Nokia 7 Plus, Samsung Galaxy A9, Elephone U Pro and so forth. It's quite a popular processor. And while Redmi Note 7 is not significantly faster than any of those other phones that use it, something you should note is that it is significantly cheaper.
The Redmi Note 7 offers capable - if not flagship - daily performance, and provided you don't turn up the detail too much some very playable framerates. In GFXBench's T-Rex and Manhattan tests we recorded 46- and 21fps, for example.
The 4000mAh battery inside is good for a day's use, but no more. In Geekbench 4's battery test we recorded 7 hours 16 minutes, which is actually a pretty middling score and a little lower than we had anticipated given the huge capacity of the battery.
As we mentioned earlier on in this review you get a choice of 3- or 4GB of RAM. We tested the latter, and this is the version we recommend for the best performance, especially when it costs only an extra £20.
Redmi Note 7 review
A major advantage of Redmi over Mi is its support for storage expansion, so there's no reason why you shouldn't opt for the lower-capacity version and bolt on extra storage later, if and when you need it. Redmi Note 7 can accept microSD cards up to 256GB via a hybrid SIM tray - you must choose between dual-SIM functionality and storage expansion. If you do opt for a second SIM instead, know that either SIM slot can be used for 4G data, but unlike with the Mi 9 family you can't use 4G on both at once.
In terms of connectivity there's also dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and an IR blaster. You will not find NFC for making mobile payments, so if this is important to you step up to the Mi line.
Redmi Note 7 Cameras & Photography For a budget phone the Redmi Note 7's cameras are pretty good, though not quite as good as the marketing might have you believe.
The star of the show is a 48Mp lens that by default actually takes 12Mp shots. This is because it combines four pixels into one, averaging out the quality, exposure, colours and so on to create one significantly better-looking super pixel.
This is paired with a 5Mp secondary lens for blurred background (bokeh) shots, and together the Note 7 is capable of some decent - if a little dull - photography, given good lighting. Zoom right in and some noise is visible, but zoomed out the results are more than acceptable for a sub-£200 phone.
In low lighting the camera has more work to do, and even in Night mode it still struggles. Here you need to be really careful to keep the camera still for what feels like forever as it processes the shot. Though it did a good job of picking out different colours, including the different shades of black, text can be a little fuzzy and edges less well defined. Not a bad result, but equally not the best.
This is an AI camera, which means Xiaomi's software can intelligently set an appropriate preset for the shooting scenario. The app is very easy to use, and you can quickly switch between photo and video, Portrait, Night, Square, Panorama and Pro modes, and there's a shortcut for preinstalled Google Lens right within the app, too.
There's also an option to shoot in 48Mp, though all this is going to really do for you is gobble through your storage, since the results are not any better for the extra pixels.
The Redmi Note 7 supports 1080p video capture at 30- or 60fps with image stabilisation, but 4K and slow-mo video is off limits.
Around the front is a 13Mp AI camera for selfies, and in this mode the app offers quick access to various beauty settings.

Redmi Note 7 Software The Redmi Note 7 runs MIUI 10, which is a custom version of Android 9 Pie. Since we're using a Global ROM model it comes preinstalled with Google services and an English-language keyboard and interface, so setup is as simple as on any Android phone.
You will find Xiaomi offers its own version of most Google apps, which does mean there's some duplication here, and most cannot be deleted (or removed from the app tray-less home screen, though you can tuck them away in a folder where they will remain out of sight and out of mind). This is for good reason, since Chinese ROM MIUI devices don't have those Google apps. Some of these apps are pretty decent, however, so either use them, or don't - there's enough storage that you don't really need to worry about them.
Redmi Note 7 review
We noted earlier that the Redmi Note 7 currently lacks the Dark Mode and Ambient Display found on the Mi 9 family. The software is pretty much the same in other respects, and there are some great extras only found on Xiaomi phones such as Dual Apps and Second Space.
A Split-screen mode is also found in the recents menu, with is accessible either from the onscreen button or by swiping from the bottom of the screen and then pausing before lifting your finger in the gesture-only Full Display mode.
While the notification LED is so pathetic that you're likely to miss it completely, you do get individual app control over which are allowed to display notifications on the lock screen or float at the top of the screen, which means only the most important will be allowed to distract you. Finding your way around the settings may not be immediately obvious, however.
Redmi Note 7 Conclusion Redmi Note 7 is a very decent mid-range phone with a budget price. In the UK budget smartphone market none of its similarly priced rivals (think Mi A2 Lite, Honor 10 Lite, Moto G7 Power) even come close.
In design it's not all that far removed from Xiaomi's flagship, with a similarly large and almost as bright display, but it's not of quite the same quality. In performance most users would not be able to separate Redmi Note 7 and Mi 9 SE, and it's as capable as many phones costing £350.
Compared to the flagship line it adds microSD support and a headphone jack, but loses the wireless charging, in-display fingerprint sensor and NFC for mobile payments. The triple-lens camera is here reduced to a dual-lens model, but still has a huge 48Mp lens headlining.
On paper the capacious 4,000mAh battery looks amazing; in reality you should get a full day's use from it.

http://digitaltechnologynews.com/ Nokia 7.1 vs Xiaomi Mi Max 3 Smartphones Nokia 7.1 The new Nokia 7.1 is aiming to marginally upgrade the specifications of the original Nokia 7 released about a year ago. As such, you’re not looking at Snapdragon 710 processing power here, but rather a significantly humbler Snapdragon 636 SoC, paired with as little as 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage space. Don’t worry, a 4/64 gig configuration is also reportedly in the pipeline. Xiaomi Mi Max 3 Xiaomi has announced the Mi Max 3, the latest and biggest yet in its line of colossal phones. This time around the screen is 6.9 inches, and Xiaomi is using an 18:9 screen for the first time in the series. Top and bottom bezels are present, though pretty thin in relation to the vast expanse of the screen. The resolution is 1080p, so you’ll probably be able to make out pixels, but that’s not likely to be a huge concern for users that want something like this as a primary video device. Powering all this is a 5,500mAh battery, which Xiaomi has managed to cram into a 7mm-thick chassis. The company says it can be charged to 71 percent in one hour. Huawei’s Honor Play Gaming Phone - Better than POCO F1?
Tumblr media
There’s plenty of buzz about Xiaomi’s new Pocophone F1 which I covered last week, but little do people know Huawei had already released the Honor Play - A Killer Gaming Phone using the 10nm Kirin 970, AI Cameras and a smaller notch than Poco F1! The Honor Play is available for $319 right now and myself and a few others beleive it’s as good if not better value than POCO F1. Let me tell you why.
Tumblr media
First of all, the Honor Play was specifically launcehd as a Gaming Phone by Huawei and was the first to support the GPU TURBO Tech I covered in a special video here.
Tumblr media
This Huawei beast is powered by their 10nm flagship Kirin 970 which is found in the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro! Thanks to the GPU Turbo tech Huawei built the Kriin 970 can take on Snapdragon 845 in PUBG and actaully deliver a better gaming experience and consume less battery.
Tumblr media
Apart from the obviously powerful chip and GPU Turbo, the Honor Play boosts a large 3750mAh Battery and 18W Quick Charging. Naturally, gamers want the biggest screen possible and the Honor Play features a 6.3-inch 19:9 display with a smaller notch than the iPhone X and, yes POCO F1! Thinner side and bottom bezels is another big win for the Honor Play, as is the better sunlight visibility measured by my collegues from GSM Arena.
Tumblr media
Another area where Honor Play beats the F1 is in storage speeds. All Huawei phones pack custom storage chips which deliver far better Random Read and Write speeds than any Xiaomi phone out there. Likely, the Honor Play’s storage performance even exceeds that of the Mi 8 and Mi MIx 2s. Updates are very important for the users and Honor Play has been geetting monthly updates so far and is confirmed to receive Android 9.0 Pie as part of the big EMUI 9 upgrade by the end of the year.
Tumblr media
Another neat features is the inteligent Vibration feedback which provides what Huawei call 4D Gaming (not realy 4D though). 4D is enabled so far in PUBG and Asphalt 9 making your phone vibrate with the lenght and precision of key game moments, so you feel more immersed. Kinda like the latest Playstation controllers. All this is possible thanks to the NPU chip inside the Kirin 970, which also helps optimizing efficiency and performance in your daily tasks. EMUI is just better than MIUI with the Kirin 970. Huawei make really awesome use of their custom tech like the NPU and the i7 sensor chip inside to give keep the power down, performance up and invent new ways to enjoy games.
Tumblr media
Regarding Honor Play’s cameras, Huawei did a dual camera on the front and back but it’s not as high-end as the POCO F1, due to the f/2.2 aperture lenses. While daytime shots will rival if not best the F1, low-light shots will come out better thanks to the f/1.9 aperture and 1.4 Pixel size of the IMX363 in the Pocophone.
Tumblr media
While I cannot prove that Honor Play is better, and to some of you it won’t be, but it’s definitely a great value gaming phone with everything you need and boasts cool stuff like the GPU Turbo tech and a real AI NPU inside. The only real downside to the F1 is the slightly lower benchmark scores and inferior cameras.
Honor Play can be bought for $319 here POCO F1 is  $352.99 here using special code GBMPPOCO upon checkout
Keep checking my youtube channel for the POCO F1 review next month, and don’t miss my hands-on reviews of Nokia 6.1 Plus, Huawei Nova 3i, Xiaomi Mi Max 3 and Meizu 16 Plus all coming this month!

Nokia 1.3 Render Leak Shows Waterdrop Notch Display, Single Rear Camera
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nokia 1.3 is a rumoured entry-level smartphone that is expected to launch at the Nokia event which will take place on Thursday. Now a day before the launch, a new leak has hinted that the Nokia 1.3 smartphone will sport a waterdrop notch display with thick bezels on the sides. Earlier today, HMD Global – which is the licensee of the Nokia mobile brand – announced that the company’s Thursday-event will take place online due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Finnish company is also expected to unveil its first 5G smartphone at the launch event.
The new leak was brought by popular tipster Evan Blass (aka @evleaks) that included the renders of the Nokia 1.3 smartphone where a waterdrop notch display was noted. The display also contains thick bezels on the three sides of the smartphone with the Nokia logo on the chin. The alleged renders also highlighted a single camera setup on the back with a single LED flash. It was further noticed the presence of 3.5mm jack on the top edge of the phone along with physical buttons such as the volume rockers and the power button on the side edges. Moreover, the body in the renders seems to be made up of polycarbonate that is Charcoal in colour.
The new leak, however, does not specify Nokia 1.3’s under-the-hood specifications. From the previous reports, it is speculated that the upcoming rumoured smartphone will include 1GB of RAM, 8GB of onboard storage, and a 13-megapixel rear camera. The phone is also expected to carry a microSD card slot that will expand the storage capacity up to 128GB. In terms of the battery, the Nokia 1.3 is rumoured to pack 4,000mAh battery. Lastly, we can expect the waterdrop notch to house an 8-megapixel selfie camera.
Along with Nokia 1.3, HMD Global is also expected to unveil Nokia’s first 5G smartphone. The phone is likely to be called Nokia 8.2 which in terms of the design may resemble Nokia 7.2 that launched last year. More will be known at the online event which will take place on Thursday. Meanwhile, the company has sent out a new invite with the details and the live stream link for the online-only event.

[nextpage title=”Introduction, Features and Unboxing”]
Nokia 5 – An Introduction
One of the trio, HMD Global launched under the “Nokia” brand earlier this year – Nokia 5 is the middle one between the most basic Nokia 3 (review) and the most sturdy of the the three Nokia 6. Price of the Nokia 5 is PKR 21,900/- (or ~$210) when released in Pakistan.
Currently in the market we have a lot summing around the similar price of Nokia 5. Samsung’s J5 Prime is listed for a little more price but doesn’t catch up with Nokia 5 features. Xiaomi has a few handsets with similar price but a bit better specs inside. Brand name, of course plays a role in pricing but customers also prefer to buy what they’ll actually have in their new phone.
Nokia 5 actually borrows some elements from both, the starter Nokia 3 and the sturdy Nokia 6. Packs into aluminium body like Nokia 6 but has the display resolution from Nokia 3. However the display size comes between the starter and the sturdy. Staring on the front, the components give a slight impression of Nokia 6 – the rectangular home button with rounded corners.
Nokia 5 – Photo KA/TechProlonged
Nokia 5 – Features
From inside, fingerprint scanner is also common between the 5 and the 6 where the Nokia 3 didn’t have one. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 430 – the chipset is borrowed from 6 whereas the memory configuration is like Nokia 3 – 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Battery, on the other hand is 3000 mAh also like the one in Nokia 6. Interestingly the gap between the megapixels 8, 13 and 16 of the cameras of trio also approximately matches the gap between their names 3, 5 and 6.
It won’t be wrong to say that Nokia 5 is well divided into 3 and 6. People can easily decide which one of these devices they actually want to buy and what they have to pay for them.

Unboxing and Retail Box Content
Retail box is exactly same in size with Nokia 3. The layout is exactly same in white color as well as the back of the box prints key features of the Nokia 5 along side a profile image. On the front, there’s graphic which illustrates the traditional Nokia language of “Connecting people”. Hand-shake occurs inside the device Nokia 5 that is printed right in the middle of the box.
The slim box has a slide-out structure that after removing the wrapper you can pull out the inner container with the nob provided. The retail package brings along everything you’ll usually look for when you buy a new smartphone.

Nokia 5 Build and Design
No wonder, Nokia 3 has a nice looking design mostly matching to the Lumia family with aluminium frame and polycarbonate back panel.
Nokia 5 goes ahead and wears a total aluminium design unlike any lower mid-range device we have seen. It’s sturdy and tough in matte finish, however it still sometimes makes its way to slip out of the hands – probably due to the plastic stripes on the corners which are smooth and perfectly merges into the metal. You can see the shoulders-like plastic stripes on top and bottom.
Nokia 5 weighs only 160 grams and it’s thick only a little over 8mm. The phone is pretty much handy in size, curved edges and rounded corners but as told above the polished plastic stripes on the corners can create troubles if you are involved into something else while holding the phone unconsciously.
Nokia 5, Hands-on Rear Side – Photo KA/TechProlonged
Perfectly fit in average sized hands, the phone gives premium feel from all around its corners on the back as well as 2.5D curved glass on the front. It’s a Gorilla Glass but company hasn’t disclosed the version – however throughout our experience with Nokia 5, it’s literally good at dealing with scratches. It’s nice and smooth.
Non-Removable Battery
You won’t be able to remove the battery from this lower mid-range smartphone due to its unibody design. Well many prefer to have remove able battery in their smartphones, but in current days, it’s believed that a non-removable battery gives its own impression of premium feel to any smartphone. So does it, with the Nokia 5.
Nokia 5, 2.5D sculpted Corning Gorilla Glass – Photo KA/TechProlonged
If you noticed, Nokia 5’s frame is fully rounded from back to front where it meets directly into the front glass. There’s no thin middle plastic bezel between the aluminium frame and the front glass. That’s something important in comparison within this class. It indeed gives premium look, and why not? Even the starter Nokia 3 didn’t have those interrupting plastic bezels.
Controls and Components
Audio and Connectivity
Nokia 5 comes with all common components and controls on board including the 3.5mm audio jack on top and a micro USB port on bottom along side the a loud speaker. There are to speaker outlets however but a single speaker behind the bars has got support with a smart amplifier, TFA9891 – the one Google Pixel XL was shipped with.

3.5mm Audio Jack
MicroUSB/Speaker/Mouthpiece
MicroUSB Cable
Primary mic or mouthpiece is located at the bottom as well on the other side of of micro USB port.
Power/Volume and SIM/Memory Slots
Power button and the volume rocker are hosted on the right hand side of the phone to ease your thumb reach. While on the left side of the phone, there are the dedicated slots for both the dual-SIM cards and microSD card for storage expansion.
#gallery-0-47 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-47 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-47 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-47 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Power/Volume Rocker
Dedicated SIM/MicroSD Slot
SIM/MicroSD Slot Open
That’s always a plus point to have all three options usable unlike the hybrid slot which only lets you use one SIM if you wanted to use a microSD card.
Antenna and Rear Profile
Antenna stripes occupy the top and bottom sides edges of the phone. Shoulder-like design of the plastic stripes stay at the boundary of the frame and slightly join on the front glass for better signal reception. Secondary mic is also there on the back of the phone for noise cancellation and stereo audio recording.

Rear Profile – Camera/Flash
Looking over at the rear side of Nokia 5, we get long vertical bump with the camera module that adds 0.5mm to the thickness of the phone. It didn’t need to be that long as only half of it could contain the camera lens and the LED flash – like Nokia 3. Not sure if it was required by the design from inside or HMD just made it to distinct each of the three devices 3, 5 and 6 from each other. Else we have the “Nokia” branding and product labels on the back.
Front Profile
On the front, you can see that the upper portion of the screen is printing the brand name “Nokia” on the corner more like the late Lumia designs.In the middle we have an earpiece and on the side there’s front-facing 8MP camera with 84-degrees field of view – it seems larger than usual on the front. Front-camera features screen-flash to brighten up the nearer subject for some better selfies.
#gallery-0-49 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-49 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-49 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-49 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */

Home Button/Fingerprint
Nokia 5 – Front Glass/Screen Off
On the lower portion of the screen, Nokia 5 has capacitive home button in the middle which also has a fingerprint sensor underneath. Besides, there are “overview” and “back” keys to view open apps and to go to previous app or task respectively. Better to have them as back-lit.
Nokia 5 Display
Nokia 5 features a 5.2-inch IPS display with HD resolution of 1280×720 pixels. Many would reject the 720p display today, but you must consider the most important factor – the density of the display. Nokia 5 has a pixel density of 282ppi which is still decent for your eyes.
Within the class and price range, Nokia 5 has a an excellent display. It’s very bright at its maximum setting as well as colors are also pleasant. Automatic brightness control also works well to manage with the ambient light. Company rated this phone to have 500 nits, however when set to maximum manually, it goes beyond that. Black levels are not that impressive, hence contrast ratio is not that great.
Nokia 5 Display – Photo KA/TechProlonged
Additionally, you can turn on the sunlight readability option in Nokia 5 that also boosts the viewing experience on the phone when you are outdoors. The screen has polarizer to help reduce reflections and Nokia 5 manages it really well. Checkout the following display comparison with Huawei Y7 Prime and Nokia 6. Nokia 3 is also included.
Nokia 5 vs Huawei Y7 Prime, Nokia 6, Nokia 3
[iframe width=”853″ height=”480″ src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/YEcL5lc9g8s” frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen=”yes”]
You can see how Nokia 5’s display is more visible in shadows highlights than any of the partner smartphones – Huawei Y7 Prime, Nokia 6. Leave Nokia 3 out of competition here as it’s the same class. It’s yet unclear why would Nokia 5’s display be any better than Nokia 6 as both has the similar display according to specs. There could still be a difference in a specific unit of Nokia 5 or Nokia 6 – may be.

Nokia 5 – Android 7.1.1 Nougat Software – Photo KA/TechProlonged
Nokia 5 – Software and User Interface
With new entry into Android smartphone manufacturing HMD decided to go for plain stock software experience with a little bit custom touch. Nokia 5, like Nokia 3 and 6, packs with pure Android features that Google ships with its own set of apps.
Nokia 5 runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat software straight out of the box with its own theme and blue icons. The user experience is mostly similar to the Google Pixel. Very first look at the home screen tells that there is no icon for app launcher in the sticky row of apps on the bottom. Instead, a little caret provided right above that row of app icons that you can simply tap once or more pleasantly pull it up to open the app drawer. Similarly you can swipe the app drawer down to close it.
Just like Nokia 3, you can not customize themes on Nokia 5 and you have to stick with just that blue icon pack. Coming over at the user interface (GUI), Lock screen is also simple with the options to unlock with swipe or a short cut to swipe from a camera icon on the right-bottom corner which takes directly to the camera app. That camera shortcut on the lock screen actually by-passes any security and takes you to the camera app. However that only allows to take photos or record videos, as you can not go beyond the camera app in case if the security is in place.
Lock Screen and Security
Lockscreen also presents notifications in standard Nougat style – grouped, expandable and quick actions like replying to messages. Based on security, you have set up, the notifications can be set to “content hidden” on lockscreen to prevent privacy loss.
#gallery-0-50 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-50 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 25%; } #gallery-0-50 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-50 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Lockscreen with notifications • Security enabled with fingerprint
Home Screen with Nokia Blue and App Drawer
Then comes the home screen which gives you a blue shot at once when you unlock the phone. All system icons reflect Nokia’s blue color. And certainly, you can not change them. You can get use to with the same/single colored/circled icons but at first it could be hard for you to identify what you are looking for.
Google apps icons have their own standard color which you normally know them with. Similarly the third party apps also come with their own icons. The system, however modifies the icons only to mask them in circular shapes – that’s good.
#gallery-0-51 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-51 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 25%; } #gallery-0-51 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-51 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Nokia 5, Android 7.1.1. Nougat, Home screen • Folder open • App drawer
Everything is pretty much same in experience like choosing app icons from the app drawer and placing them onto home screen or organizing them into folders. Adding, removing home screens and placing widgets in those home screens, etc.
Customizing Home Screen, Background Tasks, Split Screen
Home screen can be turned into edit mode by just a long press in a free space or by a pinch-in gesture on the screen.
#gallery-0-52 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-52 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 20%; } #gallery-0-52 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-52 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
• Customize home screen • widgets • wallpapers • Overview of open apps • Multi-window / Split Screen
The task switcher or recent apps view appears the standard Android rolodex of app snapshots which you can swipe away to close. A cross button is also provided on each snapshot. All apps can be closed with a single tap on “Clear All” which appears only if you swipe down the rolodex – that’s not really convenient.
Split screen can be initiated by a long-tap on “recent apps” key when you an app is already open. Even though Nougat has provided the built-in support for split screen, but frankly, you don’t want it on a small screen with not enough resolution.
Google App (Google Now) and Google Assistant
Far left home screen offers Google App (Google Now) by default, which can be turned off via settings from edit mode.
#gallery-0-53 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-53 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 25%; } #gallery-0-53 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-53 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
• Home screen settings • Google App • Google Assistant •
Google App on home screen is quick and fluent like it’s just one of the screens. It doesn’t give a kind of impression for being an app at all. You also don’t see it in currently running apps, it’s just a part of home screen. While a long-tap on the home button initiates the Google Assistant.
Status bar and Notifications
The top status bar is the stock one that you can pull out by swiping down. It’s the two way pull-down panel with a quick set of toggles and the notification below them. The second swipe-down on the panel will expand the quick toggles section to provide more options with more glance. With the second pull-down, you also get access to the brightness controller. However you can not turn on/off the adaptive/auto brightness. For that you have to go to settings > display.
  #gallery-0-54 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-54 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 25%; } #gallery-0-54 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-54 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Pull-down with quick toggles & notifications • 2nd pull-down for more toggles, Edit toggles and switches
The quick actions or toggles can be customized right from there by editing them and adding or removing them. Standard Android “users” feature is also available on Nokia 5 and can be reached right from the status bar. More settings are available in “Settings” app.
Add-on Gestures & Motions
Last but not the least, there are some gestures and motions which can be accessed from Settings > Accessibility. Only a couple of “Mute on pickup” and “Turn over to reject call”.
#gallery-0-55 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-55 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 25%; } #gallery-0-55 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-55 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Power button for Camera • Motions • Mute • Reject call
If you have been a fan of Nokia’s dedicated camera shutter button, then we are sorry that the new Nokia Androids do not feature that button. However the software allows you to use Power button to open the camera app, when you press it twice.

Nokia 5 – System Performance
Nokia 5, stated earlier in introduction, features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 430 – a chipset for mid-range devices. The chip is just same as it is in Nokia 6 but Nokia 5 has only 2GB of RAM. It sure is a significant upgrade over Nokia 3.
We had reservations about an year old MediaTek chipset with Quad-Core processor used in Nokia 3. It didn’t perform well even when compared with Huawei Y5 2017 which has the same chip but a little variation. Similarly Nokia 5 used Snapdragon 430 which which also had the 435 with only a little variation. It’s much better than Nokia 3.
What’s more important to you is how the Nokia 5 will actually perform as a regular phone of yours. Unlike Nokia 3, I’m quite happy with Nokia 5 running Android 7.1.1 Nougat. 2GB of RAM is sometimes loaded up but the real problem is the storage. 16GB is a no go for me at least, half of which is eaten by the system itself.  Considering the performance, storage type and its speed is more important but it’s fine when compared to the phones of its class.

Huawei Y7 Prime • Nokia 6 • Nokia 5
Nokia 5 on Trial
A few games I tried on Nokia 5 – were Subway Surfer, NFS No Limit, Asphalt Xtreme and Modern Combat 5. They worked fine without lag or freezing – not that I can remember of. Cold start of apps usually faced delay. Subway Surfer if you see above, started almost equally on Huawei Y7 Prime, Nokia 6 and Nokia 5 but Asphalt Xtreme didn’t catch up the speed on Nokia 5.
Even though you can play these graphic-thirst games on Nokia 5 but still these phones aren’t for frequent gamers – if you are one, you might not want to buy Nokia 5.
Comparing the benchmark scores, Nokia 5 is head to head with the little expensive Huawei Y7 Prime and even Nokia 6. Geekbench
AnTuTu • Geekbench • Basemark OS II • Basemark X
Nokia 5 – Battery Performance
With 3000mAh battery, Nokia 5 is good with this capacity of power. The healthy sibling, Nokia 6 also has the same battery but might lack optimization with larger RAM and higher resolution. This phone, on the other hand, has only 2GB of RAM and 720p display on a little smaller screen size of 5.2-inches which proved to be true in our practical usage.
Nokia 5 manages to give you over a day easily with extensive usage of throughout the day – exclude the extensive gaming though. By extensive usage you can consider regular usage of the phone as primary device with both SIM cards active – one on 4G/LTE. Switching from LTE data to WiFi all day (assume 50/50). Browsing, examining apps, playing games, shooting photos and recording videos, installing/uninstalling apps to make room for other stuff etc. etc.
With some very basic usage that include only calling, texting, some browsing and some social interaction, specially when you are home and stays connected on your home network over WiFi, Nokia 5 might give you over 30 hours.
On the other hand if you go little aggressive and keep using the phone, playing games, watching videos online or offline, add some GPS navigation as well and anything like that. Do not expect it to give you more than 12 hours. Something which is not good that even though the charger shipped with Nokia 5 is rated 5V/2A but it doesn’t seem to charge your phone rapidly.
[nextpage title=”Camera, Photos and Video Quality”]
Nokia 5 Review – Camera
With Nokia 5, you get a 13 megapixel primary camera which is autofocus. The image sensor inside has pixels of size 1.12µm. Lens on top has f/2.0 aperture while a dual-tone dual-LED flash supports the whole unit. The image sensor has phase detect autofocus system as well.
While go through the photos quality later below, lets talk a little about the native camera app and its features in Nokia 5. The app is just same as in Nokia 3, it’s also same in Nokia 6 as well we’ll cover later in its review.
Unlike previous camera user interfaces Nokia has brought to its Symbian and Windows Phone devices which were extremely user friendly, the one on these new Nokia Android phones, the camera app is very simple on viewfinder with a couple of toggles and still/video/panorama etc. switches. On the other hand, all options are cluttered into one single settings menu which, to me at least, is very awkward in white background – black would be awesome.
Camera App Operations
The camera starts with the viewfinder and three elements on the bottom – shutter release in the middle, video switch on the left and a gallery shortcut on the right. There are a couple of toggles on top row – right side. Rear/Front camera switch, shot timer, HDR (on/off/auto), and Flash (on/off/auto).
#gallery-0-57 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-57 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 25%; } #gallery-0-57 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-57 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Camera UI • Still photo features • Video recording features
In still photos mode, you get to choose from normal photo, panorama shots and beautify mode. While in video mode, you can set the speed of recording with 1x, 2x and 3x. The slow speed recording (not calling it as slo-mo) is also supported – 1/2x when maximum resolution is set to 720p, and 1/3x at 480p. Standard 1080p videos do not support slow speed.
Settings Menu
Menu has the options to turn on/off the compass, grid lines (rule of thirds), capture settings (auto/manual), shutter control (burst shots), watermark (can choose from a preset of text, weather, city, etc.). You can choose whether to use volume key as shutter release. Finally you can set resolution for photos and videos for both front and rear cameras separately.
#gallery-0-58 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-58 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 25%; } #gallery-0-58 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-58 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Manual Control Gimmick
If didn’t notice about the capture settings above with “manual” option – then you should have. It’s the manual control function you can enable on Nokia 5. It’s not like a full “Manual control” like we have seen in old Nokia devices or more recently in Huawei devices.
Nokia 5 only offers to set metering (auto/evaluative/center-weighted), focus (auto/infinity/macro), white balance (auto/daylight/cloudy/shade/fluorescent/incandescent) and exposure compensation (full stop increments -2/+2ev).
No ISO handling, No exposure control? It’s not Manual
#gallery-0-59 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-59 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 25%; } #gallery-0-59 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-59 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
While most of the things in manual settings above we usually see in most devices but the focus options are from the old Nokia phones which usually offered “infinity” mode to keep everything in focus while the “macro” mode lets you get as closest to the object as possible by the camera.
The Focal Length
Examining the photos EXIF data from Nokia 5, we discovered that the camera delivers 21mm equivalent focal length but in real, the photos do not seem to be covering that wide field. Look at the following same scene captured by Nokia 5 (left) and Huawei Y7 Prime (right) side-by-side.
Nokia 5 Camera FOV • Huawei Y7 Prime Camera FOV
Notice to compare the coverage of field of view from both phones – they are pretty much equal whereas Y7 Prime’s EXIF data tells it to be 26mm equivalent, which is more common among smartphone cameras. So we take it as Nokia 5 might be reporting erroneous information in EXIF data.
Photo Quality
Nokia 5 actually somewhat impressed us with its image quality considering its class. You can expect nice quality images from 13MP camera. Even though some noise is present in daylight shots which is not visible until you look at a 100% crop of the image, it’s making up a good and detailed image. Color reproduction is well managed which is critically good but some consumer minds who expect vividness from their smartphone camera will be disappointed.
Dynamic range is also better at most places but it’s lost when you take an indoor shot with a window in the frame throwing huge amount of daylight. On the other hand, the shots inside a normal-lit room may introduce heavy noise and vanish all the detail we could have in bright conditions. Have a look at some outdoor shots below followed by some indoor shots.

Indoor Shots

HDR Shots
HDR actually worked nicely in Nokia 5. In those situations where it couldn’t handle dynamic range very well, HDR could do the job pretty nicely. It does manage to recover from highlight clipping and brighten up dark shadows. In that process, you could sacrifice the real blue color of the skies.
Observe the following shots taken twice – once with HDR-OFF and then with HDR-ON. Shown in the same order.
[slickr-flickr search=”sets” set=”72157685692542153″ ]
Shots with Flash-ON
Now that’s what, I won’t recommend to use with Nokia 5. It’s completely useless in wider environment – usually in rooms. White balance is completely lost, even a meter distant subject couldn’t get any detail. However if you could want to shoot some closeup subject with the flash, it does the job with completely black background. That’s due to nicely handling flash strength to throw on closer subject to prevent over exposure leading to completely underexposed background.
[slickr-flickr search=”sets” set=”72157685692542123″ ]
Close-up Shots
Nokia 5 can focus a subject at least 3-inch distance. Even though the manual control provides a “Macro” option in focus which fixes the focus on a certain distance and you have to move your camera back and forth and take shot when you are sure the subject is in focus. Better stay with “Auto” focus and use tap-to-focus as you normally do.
[slickr-flickr search=”sets” set=”72157685692542093″ ]
Front Facing Camera
Nokia 5 offers an 8 megapixel camera on the front which is also an autofocus unit. It also have f/2.0 lens aperture and contains an image sensor with 1.12µm pixel size as primary camera’s. It’s a wide angle camera with 84-degree field of view.
This camera produces sharp images out of its front camera, well managed noise and detail is pretty good. Autofocus is impressive to take selfies.

Panorama
Nokia 5 captures approximately flawless panoramas in its class.

Video Recording
Nokia 5 can record videos at up to 1080p resolution with 30 frames per second. Sure you won’t get 4K or faster frame rate from any device technically due to Snapdragon 430 or even 435 limitation.  The question is if it can record pleasing videos at the limit it supports? Well, yes and no at the same time. Videos from Nokia 5 have nice color reproduction, dynamic range is good at limited exposure differences. Image detail on the other hand is not that great as we saw in still photos, it’s softer than sharper .
[nextpage title=”Conclusion”]
Conclusion and Verdict
Again, you do not expect great thing bouncing from inside of a mid-range smartphone. The processor, the RAM, and the storage in Nokia 5 are just what you do not want to have if you are expecting some mind blowing performance form your smartphone.
Technically this goes same with all the mid-rangers. They have pretty much similar specifications as during the review we had Huawei’s Y7 Prime in hands which is actually more comparable with Nokia 6 than the Nokia 5. But still the that phone has the similar processor with bumped up RAM and storage which is quite useful indeed  but that also comes with a price, e.g. Y7 Prime costs you Rs. 25,000/- and Nokia 6 is priced just below Rs. 28,000/- while this Nokia 5 is around Rs. 22,000/- So that means what your phone lacks is for the money you save from it.
Or on the other hand, you can go for less known and less popular brands to get more features in less money if you can rely on that brand. What’s also important is that how they are gonna treat you after they have sold it to you. Infinix is going pretty good in Pakistan with its limited range of devices under Rs. 25,000/-
But one thing, if you prefer good looks and better build quality, then Nokia 5 is the best choice in the class you are looking for a phone.
Sure, where Nokia 5 stands at, it’s equally good with other contenders. An appealing unibody design in fully aluminium body and a good quality is a plus for Nokia 5. If you are an old Nokia fan, and wanted to give a try to a new Nokia running Android platform then better choose Nokia 5 with a little more price than Nokia 3 if you don’t want your first impressions go bad. Teaser suggests HMD Global may launch Nokia 61 Plus in India soon
Tumblr media
Nokia X6, which was first launched in China this year, was unveiled as Nokia 6.1 in Hong Kong for HKD 2,288 which is approximately Rs 20,000. It is reported that HMD Global will bring the phone with the same moniker in other countries as well. The company has now teased an India launch event on Twitter and it could unveil the Nokia 6.1 Plus here in India. Nokia and HMD Global have invited fans to participate in a competition and win a chance to witness the live event in India. “All the Nokia fans out there tell us your favorite Nokia smartphone experience and stand a chance to witness the next exclusive launch event. Click the link below to participate and stay tuned for more! http://nokia.ly/2O1eP2M,” Nokia Mobile India tweeted. The company, however, did not come out clear on the what product is it launching and the date of the event. Nokia hasn’t had a major launch event in India since it unveiled the Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 6 (2018) in April this year. The Nokia 6.1 Plus has been in the news for well over two months now. The phone has a lot of dissimilarities compared to the original Nokia X6. HMD global launched the global variant under Google’s Android One programme. It removed NFC in the Nokia 6.1 Plus and did not unveil the blue variant of the device in Hong Kong. Unlike in China, where the Nokia X6 is being sold in several configurations, in global markets, the Nokia 6.1 Plus is expected to come only in 4GB RAM and 64GB storage configuration. Nokia 6.1 Plus (Nokia X6) Specifications: Under the hood, the Nokia 6.1 Plus has an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset. The Nokia 6.1 Plus features a 5.8-inch Full HD+ notched display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. It is protected by a Gorilla Glass 3, has thin bezels and a chin which will bear the Nokia branding. On the back, the phone sports a dual-camera setup with 16MP and 5MP lenses by Zeiss optics. On the front, it has a 16MP shooter. Both the cameras have f/2.0 aperture. There is a 3,060mAh battery with fast charging support. from Latest Technology News https://ift.tt/2KneC7Z from Blogger https://ift.tt/2KjCeKB https://ift.tt/2mo3nCm

Moto G9 Detailed Review
Moto G9 Full Review
The price for the Moto G9 is estimated at Rs.11,499 for the single 4GB+64GB storage model. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The Moto G arrangement has been the foundation of the Motorola set up in India for some time now and helped the brand restore its situation in the spending fragment. Recently, however, this arrangement was eclipsed with the One Series from Motorola, and the last hardly any models have not made tremendous imprints. So as to bring the Moto G arrangement once again into the spotlight, Motorola has brought the Moto G9 to India, and we are the principal market to get this new cell phone. So has Motorola structured this telephone all around ok to confront its wild rivalry? I audit the Moto G9 to discover.  (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Moto G9 Design: Tall and gleaming
I previously invested some energy with the Motorola Moto G9 at the hour of its dispatch and you can peruse my early introductions of the gadget. The Moto G9 has a major 6.5-inch IPS LCD board with an HD+ goal and tall 20:9 perspective proportion which is incredible for watching content on, in scene mode. In any case, arriving at the head of the presentation isn't simple when utilizing this telephone independent, and requires a speedy mix in the hand. Motorola has kept the bezels thin on the sides however the jawline is thicker. We're currently observing increasingly more cell phones with gap punch shows in the spending section, however Motorola has stayed with a more customary dewdrop score to house the selfie camera. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Get this telephone and you will see that it measures over 9mm in thickness. The sides are squared however they bend into the back giving you a decent grasp on the gadget. Motorola has pressed in a 5,000mAh battery, and so the Moto G9 weighs in at 200g. You will see the weight subsequent to utilizing this cell phone for some time. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Motorola has included a committed Google Assistant catch which is a flawless touch, however, the arrangement could have been something more. It is on the upper right half of the gadget and isn't reachable effectively while holding it. The force and volume catches on the Moto G9 are additionally on the right, so's four altogether. The left just has a SIM plate. Motorola could have put the Google Assistant catch on the left side, much the same as it is situated on the Nokia 5.3【₹ 13,999】(Review), which I tried as of late.  (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
With the Moto G9, the organization has picked showy hues, thus you get Sapphire Blue and Forest Green shading choices. I had a Sapphire Blue unit for this survey, and it gets eyeballs without any problem. It additionally has an inclination shading finish. The camera module is squarish and has three focal points in addition to the blaze so you don't have a different pattern for that. Directly beneath the camera module is the unique mark scanner which has a matte completion and differentiations well with the gleaming back. I discovered the unique mark scanner to be very much situated.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Moto G9 Specifications and programming: New SoC and close to stock Android
The Motorola Moto G9 is the first cell phone in Quite a while to brandish the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 SoC. This is an octa-center processor based on an 11nm cycle with four centers timed at 2GHz and the other four centers timed at 1.8GHz. The presentation centers run at a lower clock speed than those on the Snapdragon 665 SoC so it'll be fascinating to see the exhibition contrast if there is any in the benchmarks. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The 6.5-inch show has an HD+ goal, which isn't the most elevated at this value point, and contenders at around a similar cost, for example, the Redmi Note 9 (Review) do include full-HD+ shows. There's a half and half double SIM plate, so in the event that you have two SIMs in the gadget, you won't have the option to grow capacity, which could be an issue since the Moto G9 is just accessible in one arrangement. You get 4GB of RAM and 64GB of capacity, and it is estimated at Rs. 11,499.  (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Motorola offers MyUX on the head of Android 10, which has exceptionally minor customizations. It feels like you are utilizing stock Android with a couple of valuable highlights sprinkled on top. Moto Actions let you execute certain alternate routes utilizing signals. The Moto G9 utilizes a swipe-based signal route naturally however you do get the alternative to change to the customary three-button format on the off chance that you aren't happy with that. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I had the July Android Security fix on the survey unit. Motorola has additionally included Moto Gametime which lets you square calls, notices, and certain Moto activities while you are gaming, to forestall interruptions. I like that Motorola has kept preinstalled applications to a base, and you just get Facebook preinstalled separated from some Google applications.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Moto G9 execution: Casual client's enjoyment
Another processor is continually energizing to test, so I was interested to perceive how the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 SoC performs. I didn't confront any slack while experiencing the menus and stacking stock applications in the Android UI. I could likewise stack different applications and perform multiple tasks between them without any problem. Nonetheless, stacking heavier applications and games took observably more. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I ran two or three benchmarks to perceive how the Motorola Moto G9 charges contrasted with a portion of the different cell phones in the market. In PCMark Work 2.0 it scored 7,604 focuses which is higher than the Nokia 5.3 with its Snapdragon 665 SoC. I was unable to get AnTuTu to run on the Moto G9. As far as illustrations, this telephone oversaw 49fps and 13fps in GFXBench's T-Rex and Car Chase tests separately. Another contender, the Redmi Note 9 oversaw better CPU execution, however, its illustrations scores were more vulnerable in benchmarks contrasted with the Moto G9, yet that could be a result of the distinction in show resolutions between these.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Battery existence with the Moto G9 was acceptable, and the telephone endured me about a day and a half with my use. The high limit battery helps the Moto G9 get an edge over the Nokia 5.3. In our HD video circle test, the cell phone figured out how to continue for 14 hours and 40 minutes. Motorola ships a 20W quick charger in the case which helps charge the gadget moderately rapidly. The Moto G9 got to 32 percent quickly and 63 percent in 60 minutes. Charging it totally took barely two hours.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
I played Asphalt 9 on the Moto G9, and the game took somewhat longer than expected to stack. The design quality was set to Default and I didn't see any slack in the races that I played. Knocking the illustrations up to High caused a couple of log jams. The telephone scarcely got warm to the touch in the wake of playing for 20 minutes, and I watched a 4 percent drop in the battery level.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Moto G9 cameras: Decent entertainer
I was somewhat amazed to see Motorola deciding on a triple camera arrangement, taking into account that most cell phones at this value level presently sport four cameras, however, their worth is far from being obviously true. The Moto G9 has a 48-megapixel essential camera with an f/1.7 opening, a 2-megapixel full-scale camera, and a 2-megapixel profundity sensor. The 48-megapixel essential camera utilizes pixel binning to convey 12-megapixel yield naturally. I would have favored a wide-point camera rather than the large scale camera, which would have been more useful. The camera application is very much spread out and I never needed to battle to discover the setting I was searching for. You get different shooting modes that are flawlessly spread out in a sub-menu. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I discovered the Moto G9 to rush to perceive scenes and set the camera up, and it empowered HDR consequently in brilliant situations. It didn't replicate the best unique range in shots taken outside in the light, yet they came out with great detail. Text a ways off was conspicuous.  (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
For close-ups, the Moto G9 rushed to center and dealt with a shallow profundity impact for the foundation. Edges were all around characterized and the subject had great detail. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The full-scale camera has a 2-megapixel goal and lets you draw near to the subject while shooting, for sharp outcomes in satisfactory lighting conditions. For representations, the Moto G9 lets you set the degree of obscure before making an effort. Edge discovery was awesome, and photographs turned out fresh with sharp concentration and great subtleties. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Low-light camera execution is beneath normal, however, and photographs seem dull. Empowering Night mode drastically affects the camera execution, helping the Moto G9 convey a lot more brilliant pictures with better detail. Having investigated the Motorola One Fusion+ a couple of months prior, this was an inclination of history repeating itself. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Selfies taken with the 8-megapixel front camera in sunlight ended up being admirably. Low-light selfies shot under a road light seemed mellowed, with some grain obvious on zooming in. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Video recording finishes out at 1080p 60fps for the essential camera and 1080p 30fps for the selfie shooter. Video adjustment is accessible, and the Moto G9 works superbly in sunshine. Adjustment in low light causes a perceptible shine impact in the yield, which could influence the ease of use of the recording. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Decision
The Moto G9 has been propelled at Rs. 11,499 which is a serious cost for what it offers. Motorola has the product experience directly with the Moto G9, and I wasn't annoyed by nasty warnings on this gadget. The new Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 SoC gives nice enough execution to keep the normal client glad, yet it could leave power clients needing additional. I would have favored a full-HD+ goal show, yet not many new cell phones presently offer this at such a low cost, with the Redmi Note 9 being one such special case. In the event that you are searching for better execution on a careful spending plan, you could think about spending somewhat more and going for the Realme 6i【₹ 13,999】(Review) Instead. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

Nokia 4.2 Review: One Big Flaw
New Post has been published on https://bestedevices.com/nokia-4-2-review-one-big-flaw.html
Nokia 4.2 Review: One Big Flaw
"The Nokia 4.2 has many advantages, but it is affected by the processor."
Good battery life
Nice design and build quality
Notification light, NFC and a dedicated Google Assistant button come in handy
Android One means 2 years of quick updates
Affordable
Slow performance
Slow camera, mediocre photos in low light
Doesn't work with Sprint, Verizon
Micro USB connection
The Nokia 4.2 was a roller coaster ride. My first test device suffered from constant jerking and freezing, which made using the phone a hair-raising affair. The second device delivered a significantly improved experience, but it doesn't prevent this $ 189 phone from making several compromises.
Affordable phones have to make sacrifices, but the problem is with the competition. Motorola makes a phone with a much better performance for just $ 10 more: The Moto G7 Play. It also has the more convenient USB-C port, in addition to a decent camera, excellent battery life, and an almost standard Android experience.
The Nokia 4.2 from HMD has a lot to offer. The camera is slow, but can be used in broad daylight. The price doesn't look good (in a good way), the battery life is amazing, and I love the notification LED that circles the power button. It is also an Android One phone, so updates are guaranteed for two years. But it all comes down to performance and it can be frustrating.
Compact design, average display
The Nokia 4.2 is not like a budget phone. In comparison, the Moto G7 Play looks and feels very cheap. The Nokia 4.2 has a metal unibody with a polycarbonate frame and the back is protected by glass. This means that the likelihood is that repairs will be needed after a fall, but the phone will also feel more substantial.
A quick note on color. I recommend the Pink Sand over Black option. It is much more attractive and highlights the phone.
The back glass is a fingerprint magnet that you wipe regularly. Speaking of fingerprints: There is a fingerprint sensor here. It may be a little slow, which matches the Nokia 4.2.
You get a headphone jack at the top, a micro USB charging port at the bottom, a special Google Assistant button on the left and a volume rocker and an on / off switch on the right. The lack of a USB-C charging port is disappointing. Many other products have USB-C ports, from MacBooks and iPad Pros to Windows laptops and most Android smartphones. It is ideal to take only one cable with which everything can be charged. The $ 200 Moto G7 Play has one. Why couldn't HMD add it here?
The processor of the Nokia 4.2 paralyzes the phone.
The headphone jack is a welcome addition, and you should use it or use Bluetooth earphones because the bottom speakers aren't loud. However, the audio quality is decent. The buttons around the phone are clickable and the dedicated Google Assistant button is useful if you use the assistant a lot (you can turn it off, but you can't remap the button).
My favorite feature is the power button, which lights up when you get notifications. This is a good thing because the Nokia 4.2 does not have an always-on display when it is not being charged (due to the lack of an OLED screen). It looks good in the dark. It would have been nice to adjust the color, but you stick to white.
I like how compact the Nokia 4.2 feels. The screen is only 5.71 inches tall, which may sound big, but since the frames are narrow, a lot of screen is included in a small package. The rounded edges make the phone more comfortable to hold and the glass feels smooth.
The Nokia 4.2 (above) against Pixel 3a. Julian Chokkattu / Digital Trends
The HD + LCD screen is nothing to write home about. It is colorful and sharp (resolution 1,520 x 720) if you look at it from a reasonable viewing distance. Take a closer look and pixels are visible. It is a little dark, which makes it difficult to read the screen in broad daylight, and the black levels are not as satisfactory as with an OLED screen.
At the top is a drop notch in which the selfie camera is located. The phone still has a "chin" or bottom bezel, but the front design makes the Nokia 4.2 look more modern (and is slightly better than the Moto G7 Play).
Manageable performance
The Nokia 4.2 processor holds everything back. It is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 chipset with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. While 32GB is average for such an affordable phone, you'll want to use the microSD card slot since my 101 installed apps (including preinstalled apps) have reached 86 percent of the allocated memory.
Julian Chokkattu / Digital Trends
My first review device frustrated me endlessly because I was hanging up and freezing when I used the phone. This turned out to be a problem with the device. The second model didn't have many of these problems.
The performance is decent. Expect stuttering here and there as you scroll through apps like Twitter and Instagram, but it's bearable. Games like Pako: Forever and Breakneck ran admirably, with just a few skipped frames here and there. I was able to do most of the tasks that I would do with a flagship smartphone. It just took a little longer.
Opening an app takes a few seconds. This also applies to loading a game, sharing an image or turning on the phone. There were moments when I had to quickly search for something on Google Maps and I was frustrated with how slow the phone took to give me what I wanted. This is not always the case, but usually when I juggle between some apps.
Here are the benchmark results:
AnTuTu 3DBench: 77.060
Geekbench 4 CPU: 896 single core; 3,313 multi-core
3DMark Sling Shot Extreme: 493 (volcano)
These values are below the Moto G7 Play with the superior Snapdragon 632 (as well as the Moto G7 Power). My colleague had no performance problems with the Moto G7 series when testing – everything worked smoothly. Unfortunately, the Nokia 4.2 will inevitably frustrate you at some point.
Android One
I love the HMD phones because most of them run the Android One program. You receive at least a two-year guarantee on Android software and security updates. These updates are also deployed quickly, so you hardly have to wait after Google introduces them. In comparison, Samsung Galaxy S9 owners had to wait six months for the company to bring Android Pie to the phone.
The benefit of updates means that the phone stays secure, you get new features, and bugs and problems are more likely to be patched. HMD beat Motorola here. Motorola offers barely a year of Android updates for its phones – the Moto G7 Play will only get Android Q and not much more.
Julian Chokkattu / Digital Trends
Android One doesn't just mean quick updates. You get standard Android that is clear, simple and user-friendly. Apart from pre-installed Google Apps, there is no bloatware. There is even NFC on board so you can use Google Pay (another plus over the Moto G7 Play).
While the software on Nokia 4.2 is a positive experience, I encountered an error. If the phone remains alone and in standby mode, it can sometimes disconnect from the WLAN. When you turn the screen back on, the connection will be restored, but it's a problem that I couldn't solve. We also noticed this bug with the Moto G7 series, so there is a possibility that it is Android related and not device specific.
Slow camera
The Nokia 4.2 has a dual camera system on the back – a 13 megapixel lens paired with a 2 megapixel depth detection camera. The camera may be slow to start and the shutter may take some time. For this reason, you must be quiet when trying to take a photo to avoid a blurry result.
Julian Chokkattu / Digital Trends
But with good lighting, the Nokia 4.2 can be capable. Dealing with high-contrast scenarios with HDR is decent, the details are solid and the colors look natural. A typical example? The picture of the ship in New York City and the photo of my dog lying on my bed. They are impressive for a $ 189 phone.
As usual, the quality of the camera deteriorates in low light conditions. Images are grainy. While I had to remain silent beforehand, you have to be as still as a statue in low light. I've seen better results with Pro mode in the camera at night, but not everyone will understand how to use manual controls.
Portrait mode works well in good lighting, but any exposure to light, including indoor use, can cause pictures to look bad. Focusing is difficult in these situations and photos never look so sharp. HDR never seems to work as well in portrait mode.
Sample photos from Nokia 4.2
The 8 megapixel camera on the front works well, but has a problem with high-contrast scenarios. In the selfie picture of me, the sky is completely blown out. The selfie photo in portrait mode is better because the exposure is accurate with no blown out areas and there is a nice bokeh effect.
It's a powerful camera that takes a negative turn in low light, like all low-cost phones. However, you have to work with the camera to stay extremely still, which is annoying. It's comparable to the Moto G7 Play, although I think the Nokia 4.2 does a little better in quality.
Good battery life
Finally, we come to the best part of the Nokia 4.2. Never in my time checking the phone did I worry that it would die on me. The 3,000mAh battery isn't large, but with low power specifications and a low-resolution screen, it's enough to keep the phone buzzing for more than a day.
In heavy use, the phone reaches about 20 or 30 percent by midnight. With light to moderate use, the juice is retained for a second day, although charging may be required until noon.
While I was satisfied with the battery in real tests, the Nokia 4.2 did not do so well in our battery test. I played a 1080p YouTube video with maximum screen brightness over WiFi, and the Nokia 4.2 only survived 7 hours and 38 minutes. It's a decent time, but the Moto G7 game lasted more than 9 hours and the $ 250 Moto G7 Power stayed alive for almost 14 hours.
Aside from the battery test, most people will be more than happy with what the Nokia 4.2 can offer here. It's just a shame that a micro USB cable is required for charging.
Price, availability and warranty information
The Nokia 4.2 costs $ 189 and is available from Amazon and Best Buy. It only works in GSM networks, so you can use it on network operators such as AT&T, T-Mobile, Cricket Wireless and Metro by T-Mobile. It doesn't work in CDMA networks like Verizon or Sprint.
HMD offers a standard one-year warranty that protects the phone from manufacturing defects one year after the date of purchase.
Our opinion
The good looks of the Nokia 4.2, the excellent battery life, the decent camera and the fast Android updates are slowed down by a weak processor. It is capable, but there are better alternatives.
Is there a better alternative?
Yes, the Moto G7 Play. It has many of the same specs as the Nokia 4.2, from the 3,000 mAh battery to 3 GB of RAM, but the processor is what drives it. The Snapdragon 632 is much more powerful and won't frustrate you. So I think the G7 game is the better buy for just $ 11 more at $ 200.
It depends on whether you want to choose longer software support instead of performance as these Motorola phones only deliver an Android version update (Android Q), while the Nokia 4.2 will also get Android R next year. While we usually praise phones that promise software updates for two or more years, I think the significant increase in processor performance gives the Moto G7 Play the edge.
If you spend $ 250, you can buy the Moto G7 Power, which has a larger screen – but you get the same performance as the Moto G7 Play. Better still, the 5,000 mAh battery means it's a two-day phone.
If you want to stay with the Nokia brand, it's worth spending $ 300 on the Nokia 7.1. It has good performance, the same Android One software, and a capable camera. If your budget is a bit higher, Google Pixel 3a should be on your list as it only costs $ 400.
For more information, see our guide to the best cheap phones.
How long it will take?
The Nokia 4.2 is in glass so you should get a case to make sure it doesn't tear through a drop. It is also not waterproof.
On the plus side, the phone gets two years of Android version and security updates, so it should take at least two years. This is the case if the performance does not deteriorate by then.
Should you buy it
No. A Qualcomm 600 series processor in the Nokia 4.2 would have changed history, but the Snapdragon 439 won't cut off if you can buy a better performing phone for just $ 11 more.

Today, at the IFA 2019 in Berlin, Nokia unveiled two new Android phones named Nokia 7.2 & Nokia 6.2. As the names suggest, these are the successors to the Nokia 7.1 & Nokia 6.1 which launched last year. Like all Nokia phones, both are Android One devices & feature a premium design. This time, Nokia went for a circular camera setup design on both the phones.
NOKIA 7.2 & NOKIA 6.2 – DESIGN & SPECIFICATIONS
Nokia 7.2
Both the phones feature a similar design with Gorilla Glass on the front & the back. There is a circular camera module on the rear of both the phones that features triple cameras & the LED flash. The fingerprint scanner is also there on the back.
On the front, there is a display with a waterdrop notch & a big bottom bezel that has “Nokia” branding. Both the phones also feature a dedicated button for Google Assitant.
Both the phones have USB Type-C port & a headphone jack, so there is no compromise in terms of the I/O. Both phones feature a 6.3-inch Full-HD+ PureDisplay which means the display can convert SD to HDR & is HDR10-enabled. While the Nokia 7.2 features Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SOC, the Nokia 6.2 features Snapdragon 636.
This is weird since the Nokia 6.1 Plus has the same SOC as 6.2. Moreover, the last year’s Nokia 7 Plus has the same Snapdragon 660 SOC as 7.2. Nokia 7.2 has 4/6GB RAM & 64/128GB internal storage while Nokia 6.2 features 3/4/6GB RAM & 32/64/128GB storage. Both phones support microSD card up to 512GB.

Oppo Reno 3 Pro 5G Official Teaser Image Shows Curved Display, Glass Body
Tumblr media
Oppo recently confirmed that the Reno 3 series will debut next month with dual-mode 5G support in tow. Ahead of the phone’s official launch, Oppo’s Vice President and President of Global Marketing, Brian Shen, has shared an image of the Oppo Reno 3 Pro 5G phone that might be launched next month. The phone is shown flaunting a curved display with a very subtle curvature and thin bezels. The Oppo executive mentioned that the phone will be quite sleek at just 7.7mm and is claimed to be the thinnest phone in its price segment to offer dual-mode 5G support.
The Oppo Reno 3 Pro 5G’s photo shared by Shen on Twitter shows the lower half of the phone, highlighting its thin chin and side bezels, and also a subtle curved alongside the left and right edges. The tweet mentions that the phone will sport a glass body, and appears to have a metallic frame running around the edges. The power button has a thin line that appears to house an LED to serve as a notification light, an implementation that we recently saw in a few Nokia-branded budget phones.
Interestingly, this is the first time we are hearing about an Oppo Reno 3 Pro 5G phone, as the leaks we have seen so far have been about the vanilla Oppo Reno 3 variant. As far as specifications go, the Oppo Reno 3 is tipped to pack a 6.5-inch full-HD+ (1080×2400 pixels) AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rate. The panel will reportedly be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6 and will come with an embedded in-display fingerprint sensor for authentication. The upcoming phone is rumoured to run ColorOS 7 upon its debut and will offer dual-mode (SA+NSA) 5G support.
The Oppo Reno 3 will reportedly draw power from the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 735 SoC, which suggests that Oppo Reno 3 Pro 5G might go with a more powerful SoC. Rumours swirling around the Internet suggest that the upcoming Oppo Reno 3 series phone will pack quad rear cameras that will be highlighted by a 60-megapixel primary camera, assisted by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle shooter, a 13-megapixel telephoto lens, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. On the front will be a 32-megapixel camera to handle selfies.
