I had to patch some holes before I could do anything else but then I had a bunch of wall filler mixed up (we use the powder mix from Ecos) and I didn’t want to waste it so I ended up wandering around my house looking for areas that needed patched.
So far that included the bedroom walls. The living room where one of my giant pothos pulled the hooks out the wall. Some spots in Mothman’s office. The bathroom areas we’re not tiling and the kitchen ceiling.
So anyway. My knees locked up on the step ladder so now I’m just up here leaning on the fridge, waiting for Mothman to get off his business call because he’s got noise canceling headphones on.
How… how are all of you? How’s your Tuesday going?
The urge I have to paint the bedroom right now is overwhelming. Like what if, right, what if I stripped the bed to wash the linens and the furniture just happened to move to the far wall and I happened to accidentally paint one wall.
Well, then I’d have to do all the others, wouldn’t I? I mean I’d be obligated.
Can’t leave a job half done…

Fabric wall panel- A custom solution
We have worked on few interesting projects where the brief has been to create customized designs that offer interesting and trendy acoustic wall solutions. Fabric wall panels is a custom fabric system. With some tricky manipulation, our track can be curved or cut to meet unique design briefs, creating different angles, shapes, and realizations. We have worked on various projects where our experienced designers had to think outside the box to make some unique design led sound absorbing solutions.
The solution needed a hidden track and the incorporation of a hidden sound system with soundproof tiles. With some tricky manipulation of our track system, we were efficiently able to replicate the flooring, resembling a rising sun while hiding the sound system without lessening its efficiency and without compromising pre-existing ceiling services like fire detection systems.
The high tension nature of the noiseblocker made sure that the acoustic core of the system didn’t sag, creating a seamless ceiling finish.
As the installation of the noise cancelling room was part of a bigger renovation project, the timescales in which to agree designs and install the solution were quite tight. The project went from initial acoustic survey to completed installation in just 5 weeks, an amazingly fast turnaround for a project of this nature and stature. The installation itself, which comprises of wall to wall fitting across 5 suites, takes just a couple of weeks. Working to very tight timelines to make sure a handover was made effectively, our proficient installation team worked relentlessly to get the best quality finish in each of the editing suites.
O’Neill Engineered Systems was contacted in respect to creating a feature wall solution in one of the meeting rooms of the client. The brief on this project to undertake the creative use of cheap materials whilst creating a look that complemented the unfinished, industrial outlook to the room.

What are balancing acoustics and aesthetics in restaurant wall design?
When it comes to restaurant wall design, aesthetics often take center stage. However, achieving a visually appealing interior is just one piece of the puzzle. Another critical factor, often overlooked but equally important, is acoustics. Striking the right balance between aesthetics and acoustics can significantly impact the dining experience in your restaurant. In this blog, we'll explore how to achieve this delicate equilibrium.
The Impact of Noise: Excessive noise levels in a restaurant can disrupt conversations, create discomfort for diners, and ultimately affect the overall dining experience. When designing restaurant walls, it's crucial to consider how they can either absorb or reflect sound to create an optimal acoustic environment.
Materials Matter: The choice of materials for your restaurant walls plays a pivotal role in acoustic performance. For example, hard surfaces like glass, concrete, and metal can reflect sound, causing it to bounce around the space and create a noisy environment. On the other hand, softer materials like fabric, wood paneling, and acoustic wall panels can absorb sound, reducing noise levels and creating a more comfortable atmosphere.
Strategic Use of Sound-Absorbing Materials: To balance aesthetics and acoustics, strategically incorporate sound-absorbing materials into your wall design. For example, you can use fabric-covered acoustic panels as decorative elements, blending them seamlessly with the overall design. These panels come in a variety of colors and textures, allowing you to maintain the aesthetic vision while improving sound quality.
Texture and Pattern: Texture and pattern on restaurant walls can serve dual purposes. They can add visual interest and also contribute to sound absorption. Textured wallpapers, wall coverings with perforations, or wall-mounted acoustic panels with patterned designs can help disperse sound waves and reduce noise levels while enhancing aesthetics.
Ceiling Design Matters Too: Don't limit your acoustic considerations to just the walls. Ceiling design plays a crucial role in sound control as well. Suspended acoustic ceiling tiles or acoustic clouds can effectively absorb sound and create a more pleasant dining environment.
Coordinating ceiling and wall design can yield cohesive and effective acoustic solutions.
Layout and Seating Arrangements: The layout and seating arrangements in your restaurant can impact acoustics significantly. Avoid overcrowding and arrange seating to maximize personal space. By providing adequate distance between tables and using dividers strategically, you can reduce the noise generated by conversations.
Rugs and Furniture: Incorporate soft furnishings like rugs, upholstered furniture, and curtains in your restaurant's design. These elements not only add comfort but also help absorb sound, preventing it from bouncing off hard surfaces. Rugs can also be used as design accents that tie the entire space together.
Noise-Reducing Technologies: Consider implementing noise-reducing technologies, such as acoustic panels with built-in sound-cancellation features. These advanced systems actively monitor and adjust sound levels, ensuring that your restaurant maintains a pleasant ambiance even during peak hours.
Regular Maintenance: To maintain the acoustic effectiveness of your restaurant wall design, schedule regular maintenance and cleaning of sound-absorbing materials. Dust and dirt accumulation can hinder their performance over time.
Consult with Experts: Balancing acoustics and aesthetics can be a complex task. Consider consulting with acoustic experts or interior designers who specialize in restaurant design. They can help you choose the right materials and design elements to create a harmonious environment that pleases both the eye and the ear.
In conclusion, restaurant wall design should not only focus on aesthetics but also prioritize acoustics to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable dining experience for your guests. By selecting the right materials, strategically incorporating sound-absorbing elements, and considering the layout and arrangement of your restaurant, you can strike a perfect balance between visual appeal and acoustic comfort. A well-designed restaurant not only looks good but also sounds great, leaving a lasting impression on your diners and encouraging them to return for more than just the food. One can achieve this by getting in touch with renowned design and build firms such as Flipspaces, who can help you with the same.

Is acoustic screen a good investment?
As companies transition to a hybrid work model, the demand and desire for supporting comfort at work with acoustic screen is stronger than ever.
High noise levels has always been one of the biggest issues in the office, whether from people speaking, the sound of footsteps, the typing of keyboards, or continuous humming of computers and printers. Well, imagine multiple meetings happening all at once both virtually and in person.
As workers return to the office, the use of noise cancelling wall panels to absorb sound and lessen echo, will be the secret in creating a more convenient working ambience.
Research shows noisy offices can enhance workers stress levels and negatively impact productiveness. Exposure and loud sounds to continue noise can lead to physiological stress responses like a heightened blood pressure and enhanced heart rate.
The most destructive sound among all, according to research, is that of other people’s conversations. When a conversation happens at one end of the office, it creates sound waves that deploy towards walls, floors and ceilings, and also other items in the room. If all surfaces in the space are reflective and difficult, the sound waves reverberate and reflect, with the sound taking longer to deploy with an acoustic wall.
Acoustic wall tiles
The panels can be used in various configurations so you can create the ideal solution for your space. They are also made from sustainable materials and are completely recyclable during their lifecycle.
Conclusion
Acoustic wall tiles is important to making today’s shared spaces productive and maintaining the wellbeing of the staffs. As companies step back into the rhythm of office life, employers will have to make sure there is sufficient sound absorption to lessen the accumulation of noise from collaboration happening both virtually and in person.

Opt for acoustic ceiling tiles, carpets, and wall panels that have high Noise Reduction Coefficients (NRC) to absorb sound waves and prevent them from bouncing around the office. These materials help create a quieter and more focused work environment.
Furniture and Finishes:
Carefully select furniture and finishes that contribute to sound reduction. For example, choose chairs with fabric upholstery rather than hard surfaces, as they absorb sound better. Additionally, consider using textured or patterned materials for walls and surfaces, as they can help diffuse sound waves rather than reflect them.
Sound Masking Systems:
Sound masking systems are designed to introduce low-level background noise that can help mask or cover up distracting sounds. These systems use ambient sounds, such as white noise or nature sounds, to create a more consistent acoustic environment. Sound masking can be particularly useful in open office layouts or areas with high noise levels, as it can improve speech privacy and reduce distractions.
Acoustic Privacy:
Ensuring acoustic privacy is crucial for minimizing distractions and fostering a productive work environment. Provide private meeting rooms and phone booths with proper sound insulation to prevent conversations from disturbing nearby workstations. Consider incorporating additional soundproofing measures, such as acoustic seals for doors and windows, to minimize sound leakage.
Technology Considerations:
Modern startup office designs often rely heavily on technology, which can contribute to noise levels. When selecting equipment, opt for quieter options and pay attention to noise ratings provided by manufacturers. Additionally, provide employees with noise-canceling headphones or earbuds to help them focus and concentrate in noisy environments.
Conclusion:
In startup office design, addressing acoustics and soundproofing considerations is vital for minimizing distractions and promoting productivity. By identifying noise sources, strategically planning office layout and partitioning, incorporating sound-absorbing materials, selecting appropriate furniture and finishes, implementing sound masking systems, ensuring acoustic privacy, and considering technology-related noise, startup office designs can create an environment that enhances focus and concentration. Investing in effective acoustics and soundproofing measures demonstrates a commitment to providing employees with a distraction-free workspace that ultimately leads to improved performance and success. i'm getting a new neighbor and oh my goodness it's been awful. the condo was gorgeous but she wanted it completely redone. fine, everyone's got their own taste. but like the last months it's been hammers and drills from 7am to 7pm. she's ripped up the gorgeous hard wood and put black tile. she's painted the ceiling black. i don't even know what all else they're doing but it's been over a month straight over loud equipment from 7-7 almost every single day. and i feel like i'm slowly losing my mind over here. why are noise canceling headphones so dang expensive! i've been blasting jungkook all day just trying to get some semblance of peace
#and i fully get everyone has taste#but like...i can't help but be a bit bitter#especially when it's making me and the cats anxious messes#and im so so worried she'll move in#and be inconsiderate#like i just have this sinking feeling#and apparently our other neighbors do too
