Sidekick (Tesla Lindocruz x Reader)

Synopsis: Just Fracción, you had no power when it came to the rivalry between your masters. You knew that, Tesla... not so much.

It wasn’t much of a fight. At least it didn’t look like it to you. It didn’t appear like one to your master, either, and yet, Tesla stood on the sidelines, ready to intervene as if he would be allowed to take a singular step onto the battlefield in the first place. 

You thought that the way he stood was funny, all straight with square shoulders and a gloved hand on the hilt of his Zanpakutō. You came up next to him to watch the battle. Your Master Nelliel fended off Nnoitra’s crescent axe with a thumb looped in the loose belt around her waist. You leaned forward, staring at Tesla from the side of your eye to gauge his reaction to the match. He gave nothing away other than the stiffening of his shoulders. You studied his eyepatch and leaned farther forward. Perhaps he didn’t see you.

“Can I help you?” he grumbled.  You let out a slight huff of satisfaction, mirroring his stance mockingly.

“Nnoitra is struggling.”

“Master Nnoitra is doing no such thing!” Tesla whipped toward you, hand now fully gripped around the hilt of his Zanpakutō, ready to draw at any moment. The motion didn’t escape you. Your eyes flickered downward, but a deep sigh ultimately overtook you as you fluttered to the sand below.

Tesla blinked, taken aback as you situated yourself among the white grains. You sat on the side of your thigh, leaning on one of your palms as you drew reishi pictures in the sand. The shapes glowed. Tesla frowned, watching as you smoothed out the particles.

“What are you doing?” he asked curtly. You glanced over to the match to your right, just in time to see Nnoitra go tumbling by the sheer force of Nelliel’s sword. He left a lengthy skidmark as he was enveloped by the white substrate below. You turned back to your little drawings. 

“This is going to take a while,” you sighed absentmindedly. “What are you going to do, Sidekick? It’s not like Nnoitra would let you intervene anyway.” 

Tesla looked at the field as you did. Nnoitra was bleeding from the shoulder, and Nelliel was already walking away. But despite his injuries, Nnoitra had already begun charging with his weapon, splashing sand behind him, only to be struck down again. Tesla studied you a moment more before he sat down with you. 

He sat with his legs crossed, letting his elbows rest on his knees as his back bent with the slightest slouch. His Verruga drew a long line in the sand by Tesla’s hip. You drew four diagonal lines between you and another four across them in the opposite direction.

“Do you know how to play?”

“Yes, I know.”

“First move is yours.” You clasped your hands in your lap, watching the board. Tesla didn’t make a motion to play, studying you intently instead. He scowled, sitting up the slightest bit in alert. 

“Why would you give me the first move?” he asked assusingly. Tesla crossed his arms over his chest, his brow furrowing in annoyance. You shrugged, running over one of the lines that didn’t fully form in the sand. 

“Our masters are the ones with the rivalry, Tesla. I have no ill will against you.” 

Tesla met your eye, watching you closely before he ultimately gave in and played the first move. 

By the time Nnoitra had enough, you and Tesla had made it through at least five games. He had relaxed some, bent ankles spread on either side of your game board with his head on his palm. Nnoitra barked Tesla’s name, causing him to jump.

“Tesla! Get over here; we’re leaving.” 

“Coming, Master Nnoitra!” Tesla scrambled up, smudging a quarter of your game with his boot. He did a trouble-take, almost freezing where he stood as he glanced briefly back to where you sat on the sand. Tesla’s lips parted and then closed. A nearly inaudible strangled sound stalled in his throat as he whipped back toward Nnoitra. 

“We’ll do a tie-breaker next time,” you said, dusting yourself off as you stood. You offered a slight smile and a nod. The corners of Tesla’s mouth threatened to turn upward.

“Tesla!” Nnoitra shouted somewhere in the background in a rage. Tesla jumped, turning on his heel to follow after his master.

Pink and red are the only colors Grimmjow is seeing today and he's not sure how to feel about it. This year, Grimmjow and you decided to celebrate Valentine Day's this year.

Therefore, you made it your job to decorate Las Noches with pink and red Valentine's Day decorations.

The arrancars are at the table, taking in the new decorations.

"How long will all this last?" Starrk sighs out, propping his elbows up on the table.

"Just a day," you reply.

"Good, I can't stand looking at these happy colors. Makes me want to throw up," Ulquiorra explains with disgust, his upper lip curling up a tad.

Harribel glares over at Ulquiorra shakes her head. "I think it's...somewhat nice, y/n," she comments and a smile tugs on your face.

"Thanks...I guess," you mumble out. At least one of them is trying to enjoy it. Grimmjow stands besides you and throws an arm over your shoulder, pulling you into him.

"The rest of you should appreciate the effort y/n put into this human holiday," Grimmjow retorts harshly, his blue orbs piercing the other arrancars.

Nnoitra rolls his eyes with annoyance and slumps over in his chair as Luppi nods her head. Grimmjow glances down at you and his eyes instantly soften.

"Come on," you whisper, turning your back and walking off, tugging on his large hand. Grimmjow follows you down the hall and into your shared room.

Grimmjow's eyes widen as he takes in all the decorations around the room. There's candles lit in almost every corner, bringing warmth to the room and there's red and pink balloons in the air.

"So...this is what humans do," he explains, nodding his head. You giggle and your eyes move over to the bed. There's red petals on them and a gift bag...that you didn't put there.

"Wait...Grimmjow, did you do this?" you ask, pointing at the petals and a grin forms along his pale face.

"I mean, you told me what the humans do for this holiday. Decorate and get each other gifts. It is the holiday of love after all," he speaks gently, wrapping his arms around your waist and pulling you closer.

As much as Grimmjow wants to yack from uttering those words, he knows it means a lot to you.

You smile widely up at him, cheeks becoming warm from his intense, passionate stare.

"Awww, Grimmy, that's so cute. You really did your research," you exclaim, heart pounding with excitement. You throw your arms around his shoulders, hugging him tightly.

Grimmjow smiles, bowing his head down into the curve of your neck, inhaling deeply.

You jump as a loud pop coming from the gathering room, ratters your eardrums. The two of you pull away from each other, hearts racing from the sudden, loud noise.

Grimmjow snarls underneath his breath and glances towards the door.

"Damn it, Ulquiorra," he hisses out, baring his teeth. You chuckle and place your hand on Grimmjow's cheek, turning his face back towards you.

Your hand is soft and warm on his cheek. He relaxes in your touch and softly purrs as you run your fingers through his electric blue hair.

Grimmjow steps back, the back of your legs hitting the bed as the two of you fall down into it. You giggle as your back sinks into the plush mattress and Grimmjow climbs on top of you, tucking his arm underneath your head.

He dips his head down and presses soft, wet kisses along your neck as his other hand feels the curve of your waist. A chill runs down your spine from his kisses and he lets out a chuckle into your neck.

His warm breath along your neck, makes goosebumps form along your arms.

"You're so beautiful, my pretty little Valentine," he grumbles as your body heats up. He lifts his head up from your neck, eyes meeting yours with lust.

You grab onto his face, pulling his face down to yours and capturing your lips with his. Grimmjow's cheeks turn slightly red as the smacking of your lips echoes in the room.

His hand slips underneath your shirt and squeezes the fat flesh. You giggle into his lips, slowly pulling away from the kiss.

"You do realize I'm ticklish, right?" you ask as Grimmjow runs his tongue over his bottom lip.

"Sorry," he huffs out, plopping his head on your chest and resting it there.

"So, same time, next year?" you ask and Grimmjow nods his head.

"Yes, please," he mumbles out as your fingertips comb through his hair and he purrs ever so softly.

Suddenly, another balloon pops and the two of you gasp, bodies jittering from the loud sound.

"Damn you, Ulqiuorra," Grimmjow hisses out and a chuckle bubbles up from your chest.

I made some fanart for an anime and ship that nobody rlly cares for anymore...

I used to love bleach and i somehow fell into that rabbit hole and remembered Nnoitra and Nel and i think i used to kinda ship it when I was 11-13. I thought the art meme from Princess Mononoke was very fitting for them. After revisiting their dynamic, i wont deny that what they have is toxic as fuck and there are no romantic hints in canon but fuck it. There are a few moments of "softness" between them and i find it very interesting 🤔 it keeps my imagination going. She was literally that last thing he looked at when he died and she says his name so theres that. A blushing nnoitra is something i never thought i needed to see

what do you think Nelliel and Nnoitra’s purrs would sound like?

Also why do you think all hollows purr instead of just the cat-like ones (grimmjow, ggio..)

Nelliel's purr would be a bit rushed in pace due to her excitement. High pitched but rhythmical and somewhat bubbly. Unlike all the other hollows, she doesn't mind purring and enjoys being close to you since you seem to enjoy the sound.

Nnoitra's Is deep and somewhat thin, as he is. It's a low sound and yet, unmistakable. His throat contacts a bit since he resists the urge of purring 'cause #that'sweak and that makes it a bit paused.

Regarding your last question, I enjoy the idea that hollows are inhumane and their own kind of brand. I think Hollows purr because they all share the characteristic of being animal-like, and Animals purr for a variety of reasons, including but not limited to express happiness, fear, and as a defense mechanism.

Funny enough, cats are not the only animals that purr. Rabbits, ring-tailed lemurs, squirrels and even bears can do it too! :3 I just believe it's a cute idea that hollows can do it as well!

and it all began in a cafe.

Grimmjow wasn’t sure what it was going to be like walking into the cafe. This time he had his friends with him. The two idiots finding his unexpected burst in energy to be from something other than the coffee he got here. When he explained to Nnoitra and Ulquiorra that the cafe had a new menu every week and allowed for customizable requests, their interests were piqued. To be honest, he wasn’t even upset that they were joining him. He was still a bit off from meeting the young man that worked there. His bright orange hair that was a little long but gave his baby face a slightly older appeal, lithe frame that notified him he was active and the charming smiles he gave everyone he spoke to despite having a serious resting face.

He was surprised that the male had made his coffee so quickly and that he managed to make the deathly concoction bearable to drink. He hummed to himself, wondering if their menu had changed as it had been a few days since he had come by last. The weekend being far busier than he had imagined it would be.

“Oi Grimm?”

Grimmjow turned to Nnoitra who was looking at the entrance of the cafe in confusion. “Sup?”

“Why’s the place got yer old nickname on it?” Nnoitra said as he adjusted the black eyepatch on his face. “Wasn’t that yer code name back when-”

“It was, but it has nothing to do with that. Pantera wasn’t something that just came out of thin air ya idiot. My name had a meaning behind it, one that I’d really like to not talk about anymore.” Grimmjow said tersely as he cut the slightly older man off. He blew an obnoxious bubble out of his gum, letting the pop crack in the air. Nnoitra took it as a sign to shut down the conversation and looked to Ulquiorra.

“Ya ever been here Qui?”

“I’ve passed by the establishment a few times.” Ulquiorra expressed with the same monotone voice he always had.

Grimmjow shrugged. He was used to the aloof nature of the bright green-eyed man as they were also working colleagues. To be more specific he was his partner and had worked alongside Ulquiorra for years since graduating. Opening the door he heard the familiar bell ring into the calm space. He noticed the red-haired man tatted up his arms and face as he bustled a few tables and spoke with customers. Still, he had yet to see the young man who was here the last time he came and felt a wave of disappointment. He usually didn’t click with people and a part of him really thought that the young man may be someone he could get along with. “Nice lil atmosphere, smells like some strong ass coffee in here. No wonder you were singing its praises Grimm.”

“When have I ever steered ya wrong creep? Now I don’t see that kid here so I probably won't get anything crazy. Not to mention Nel is with Mila so I don’t need the excessive amounts of caffeine.”

“Ah you must be speaking of Ichigo, I’m afraid he doesn’t work on Tuesdays or Thursdays due to school.” Said a man behind them.

right? I love Kubo's "I will save this for later" way of writing, but I was pretty bugged by the lack of Zaraki conflict here.

I get that there was a lot going on already, and Kubo had his plans to address Zaraki much later, but I can't help but think that maybe adressing a bit more of Zaraki/Yachiru could have been an interesting parallel between the Berserkers facing each other and the women/little girls in their characters' conflicts... Nnoitra's conflict that relates to Nel, the woman that challenged him and the little girl watching him as he dies x Zaraki's conflict that relates to Unohana and Yachiru. Maybe he does hint at it by placing Yachiru under the spotlight those panels before... but that's just a maybe.

--- gotta confess I don't particularly love this Zaraki (I am in love with Yachiru, Ikkaku and Yumichika tho), or this fight, so I try to stretch this far just to make it interesting.

And here it is, the world’s silliest power-up.

In some ways, it was always going to underwhelm. The best fights in Bleach revolve around character, learning something new about the combatants, exploring them through the way they fight. We just got our deep dive into Nnoitra during the Nel fight, and we already learned everything there is to know about Zaraki’s character in his fights with Ichigo and Tosen.

You can imagine a world where this fight would explore changes in and develop Zaraki’s character…but he really hasn’t found the impetus he needs to change quite yet.

So this fight is basically just the two of them hacking at each other until one of them figures out a way to hack harder. And interestingly, it’s a power-up that could have worked for either of them. Nnoitra is also using his weapons one-handed, and those extra arms would have probably been put to better use making his strikes his harder. Yet he doesn’t do it. Is it because he can’t bring himself to let go of all his scythes? Is he just unaware of the possibility, because he’s not in an organization that tries to teach people things?

Grimmjow x Halibel, Grimmjow x Nel

Both are BROTP. Grimmharri would probably be an OTP for me if I thought Grimmjow were able to make it work. Nel....well, they’re not enemies, but their philosophies would clash nearly as much as Nel’s with Nnoitra’s. They’ll settle more easily into their BROTP once Grimmjow undergoes some character change.

I’m the kind of person who would ship two stubborn people together depending on how the two characters interact. They’re so damn stubborn with each other that they make me want to bash my head into a damn brick wall 10 thousand times but i just love how difficult they’re being with each other. Like seriously, they will cause me to have feels and mental pain because of how i’m just screaming “just get married and make babies!” but no they just fucking keep on bickering their heads off like a married couple. These kind of ships kill my shipper heart. Especially, those crack ships.
