This week was a rainy week so I wasn't able to have my after-school bike rides. I was thus hoping for a rain-less Saturday and although I woke up to overcast skies, the forecast was only 45% chance of rain hence I went for a bike ride at about 6:40 A.M. after breakfast. My intention was to go in the direction of Ci Cheng which is about 10 km from my place and to cross a railroad crossing and explore another part where I haven't been to. I was also hoping to see trains especially since it was still early and the place that I have been intending to go has train tracks. I was not disappointed for I saw cargo and passenger trains. I also crossed a railroad crossing on bike for the first time, NOT under it but over it and I was happy after I did so. It only takes a little to make me happy and it's things like these that really fill my heart.
The photos below are photos that I took during my 22-km bike ride this morning. Enjoy!
there were very few cars on the road early this morning - I wasn't even on the bike lane! I actually went to my lane right after taking this photo :)
THIS is MY lane:)
It's an overcast Saturday morning.
train tracks - I love these!
Ningbo,China's highways and bike lanes :)
Another place that I haven't been to before. I love discovering new places in this part of China with my bike.
rice fields, etc.
I found this building at the end of a road that I took.
a cargo train passes by
part of an elevated train track for an even faster bullet train which will shorten the travel time from Ningbo to Shanghai by almost 50% - target year for project completion is 2015
power lines
fishing is one of the favorite past times of the locals
I loved biking around here! :)
expanding the area for planting
Was I glad I took the less trodden route! I love this view!
Another tree-lined street - I can't get enough of these!
flower of a plant the name of which escapes me
A man taking out a child, probably his, on a morning walk.
After exploring the place , I am waiting for the railroad crossing gates to open again. :)
another cargo train zoomed by while we wait
An underway passage which I would have wanted to explore if not for the water brought about by the previous days' rain. I'd love to be under this when a train passes above! :)
This place was all mine for about 15 minutes this morning as I waited for trains to pass by. I can't get enough of trains! :)
a thin metal fence separates me from the tracks

I went home via the Hong Tang route and I had to pass under this railway bridge.
I dropped by Vanguard Supermarket to buy meat, coffee, and eggs. I then went to the public market to buy fruits and vegetables. Produce is so cheap in the public market that I spent only 4 USD (~PhP270.00) for food that'll last for the next five days.

It's a foggy Sunday morning in Ningbo, Zheijiang, China. (http://www.flickr.com/photos/lifeofone/)
Fog (by Carl Sandburg)
The fog comes
on little cat feet.
It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.
