5 TDSB students graduate high school with 100 per cent average
For the first time ever, five Toronto District School Board students have graduated high school with an average of 100 per cent in their top six Grade 12 classes.
It’s a feat most of us struggle even to fathom, but four of these students were able to attend a ceremony Thursday morning at the TDSB head office in North York, honouring them for pulling it off.
Pasha Ho, who attended Harbord Collegiate Institute, Avaneesh Kulkarni from Victoria Park Collegiate Institute, Sienna Muller from the Etobicoke School of the Arts and Kyle Sung from Richview Collegiate Institute, made their parents very proud as they accepted plaques for being Top Scholars.
Sung showed off his Rubik’s Cube skills — he can finish one in under 10 seconds — as his parents told CityNews about the support he received along the way.
“It’s wonderful to get that recognition because he’s worked very hard. But I think it’s also important to understand that he’s had fantastic support all the way through with from the community, from teachers and the school,” said his father, Wayne.
Sung said part of his academic success comes from trying to see what’s coming next. “On my wall at home, I constantly have study sheets, I print the curriculum documents, I’m always looking to know more in advance,” the committed student admitted.
While at the same time, Kulkarni said he chalks his success up to a love of learning. “I wouldn’t say I’m the most hardworking student, but I was engaged in the classroom, and I did what I liked, and that happened to be studying,” he said.
His parents joked they had to give him the occasional nudge away from the books. “He was very focused and did things on his own. I had to peel him from the desk to get him to do other things,” said Shrinivas, Kulkarni’s father.
The Principal of the Etobicoke School of the Arts was present, cheering on graduate Muller, highlighting joint efforts between students, staff, and parents.
“Her achievement, as she said, is representative of the hard work people put in every day, the staff and the teachers, I’m really proud,” said Grant Fawthrop.
Her mom said for students like Muller, her advice has been to make time for a healthy balance. “Taking time for her to enjoy the ride, I think for her, has been really important.”
Among the five graduates, Nina Do of Humberside Collegiate was not present at the ceremony. Education Minister Stephen Lecce even made an appearance at the celebration.
“I said it to each one of them. Honest to God, they worked so hard for this,” Lecce said. “Getting to 100 per cent doesn’t come easy; it requires discipline, focus and commitment to get to the finish line.”
Each top scholar offered a piece of advice to other students, hoping to achieve this status one day. “Do stuff that you enjoy and do that with friends and peers,” said Sung, while Kulkarni added, “Throw yourself into challenging circumstances… it’ll be intimidating, but it won’t be so bad and will pay off.”
Now they are off to bigger things, with Muller attending The University of British Columbia (UBC) in the fall to study science. Sung is headed to Hamilton’s McMaster University to study math and computer science, while Ho is staying home, attending the University of Toronto for engineering science.

🟡#Review of #movie: "A Thursday ( 2022 )"
👉#Genre: #Drama, #thriller
👉Country: #India
👉#Dirctor: #Behzad Khambata
👉#Stars: #Atul Kulkarni, Karanvir #Sharma, Yami Gautam
➕Synopsis:
This movie is the story of a woman named Nina who is a kindergarten teacher and, despite her kind appearance, takes 16 children hostage and demands from the police ... It is a wonderful movie, be sure to watch it.
✍️ Review: This movie by Behzad Khambata has some very brilliant points that have made this wonderful movie appear on the screen. The first point is that the use of virtual networks in the best possible way that the hostage-taker uses to convey his message without filtering and censorship. The second golden point of this film is giving the main role of this film to a woman, who not only took women out of the margins, but also demanding women's rights in that final message of the film. The next brilliant point of this film is the selection and role-playing of the actors of this film, as if this film was made specifically for these actors, that is, employing the right actor in the right role, which is the main art of this director. But the culmination of this film is the role of Nina, which amazes the audience. In the eyes of a kind and compassionate teacher, and in one turn she is a dry, mentally and cruel face, and in another turn she is a battered face, and finally she is a person who demands women's rights. He is probably the best actor for this role who has proven his ability. Although the general cliché of this film is not complicated, but the elegance in the details really introduces a great film to the audience, which engages the audience's mind both during the film and at the end of the film, and leaves the cinema with satisfaction. And thinks about it along the way and even in the following days at home and at work.

Shastry Viruddh Shastry: Bollywood Movie Review
Directors Nandita Roy and Shiboprasad Mukherjee have created a tear jerker from a simple family drama. After seeing Bagban and countless other movies with older parents trying to hold on to the children and children yearning to get their independence and fly away, I held low expectations from yet another such movie. However, Shastry Viruddh Shastry is different in a refreshing way. In place of…

Quarantea Time With Coconut Theatre!Coconut Theatre’s Chai-Wai and Rangmanch took up a rather ambitious project during COVID-19. It has been bringing together several award-winning playwrights, directors, actors and technicians and provided students of theatre an opportunity to learn from their seniors through their Facebook Live sessions. Currently, global experts have been added to Coconut Theatre’s repertoire with the coming week seeing Writer-Director David Woods from Australia (22nd June), Actor-Director Glenn Hayden, also from Australia (25th June), Writer-Director Ana Cândida Carneiro from the USA (27th June) and Writer-Director Jeff Baron from the USA (30th June). “The objective is to provide students of theatre an avenue of learning,” share Rashmin Majithia and and Keyur Sheth of Coconut Theatre.”Of the varied sessions numbering nearly 99, the viewer can choose any.” The 30-minute sessions where the veterans share their craft begin at 6 pm on weekdays and there are two on weekends; 5 pm and 6 pm. Stalwart participants include Makarand Deshpande, Nadira Babbar, Nina Kulkarni, Jayati Bhatia, Himani Shivpuri, Suchitra Pillai, KK Raina and many more. Ace choreographer Jonathan Hollander from the US, the founder of Battery Dance Company, who has educated students in multiple countries across multiple platforms brought the stage alive on June 18th. Those who have missed him should not miss David Woods, an acclaimed actor, director and playwright from Australia who is also the co-artistic director of Ridiculusmus, a multi-award-winning theatre company that has been producing seriously funny theatre for over 20 years. He will be the mentor du jour on the 22nd of June. A similarly seasoned veteran is Glenn Hayden, also from Australia, who is a theatre director and arts facilitator with a 36+ year professional life in the performing arts, who is gracing our screens on June 25th, followed by Ana Cândida Carneiro, an award-winning, published playwright from the USA, on the 27th and Jeff Baron, an American novelist, playwright and screenwriter from the USA on the 30th of June. “The idea was to revive theatre in our own small way as COVID-19 has brought with it a new normal that is not going away anytime soon,” concludes Keyur Sheth.
