YouTube: randomly recommends auditions from ten years ago for the lead in Annie on Broadway which pushes me back into a Matilda the Musical rabbit hole

Me to my spouse an hour later: I don't care what that sequel series says, Niles and Daphne's child was a Broadway kid and he takes his career very seriously. He's super good at mimicking voices and accents which becomes really annoying when he records a phone conversation with Granny Moon and perfects her voice.

#me continuing my rambles: He got a supporting role in one of Matilda's runs much to Niles's dismay #because that's one of those *modern* musicals and it's too lowbrow for his tastes #David gets to be part of the crowd favorite Revolting Children number and the dismay turns to outrage #“We can S-P-L how we like???”#“If enough of us are wrong wrong is right??!!!!”#“No it doesn't! That just makes you wrong! Who wrote this song???? Half the words are misspelled!”#Daphne: “I'm fairly certain that's the point of the song.”#Niles: “We raised our son better than this. How can he stomach -- TEXT SPEAK?! They put TEXT SPEAK ON BROADWAY?!!!”#“That's it! We're pulling him out! DAVID!”#(Don't worry. Daphne doesn't let him pull their kid out of the musical and 9 year old David gets to continue living out his dreams :P)
