Shout out to that anon for the Barkov tea. I didn't know the situation was that messy. Hockey media is good at protecting their boys.
Does anyone know what happened with Nikita Zaitsev's kids? Is he still keeping them from his ex? They seemed like such a sweet family when they were in TO.
So, I looked into it and there isn’t much after 2019 on it (when he and his dad took the kids). I found two articles that said she won in Russian court and gets custody of them, but they weren’t legit news sources so I can’t say for sure.
If he stayed in Toronto this would have been talked about so much more, but going to Ottawa benefited him because it kept a lot of the talk down.
She doesn’t have a lot on her insta, but there are posts with the girls, so maybe it’s true and she has them back

The Chicago Blackhawks cancel a Pride-themed warm-up citing Vladimir Putin
In a remarkable reaction to a foreign country’s anti-LGBTQ+ policies, the Chicago Blackhawks, an NHL team, abandoned plans for players to wear Pride-themed jerseys during warm-ups this Sunday at the team’s Pride Night celebration, citing security concerns for three players with ties to Russia. The Chicago Tribune reported sources with the team say the Blackhawks didn’t want to risk “any media” depicting the Russians in Pride Night colors, which would put the players in conflict with official Russian government policy. --- Related Stories Former Log Cabin Republican “ambassador” tweets support for Uganda “Kill the Gays” bill The gay Republican group picked her to represent them, despite her history of using anti-gay slurs. And then this happened. --- In December, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed an expansion of the country’s “gay propaganda” law, banning the promotion of “non-traditional sexual relations and/or preferences.” In a statement, the team sidestepped the issue of how another country’s discriminatory laws are directly impacting American players. “The Chicago Blackhawks organization is proud to continue its annual Pride Night celebration, an evening — alongside year-round efforts — fueled by partnership and LGBTQIA+ community engagement,” the team said in a statement Wednesday. “Together, our activities will focus on fostering conversation and more equitable spaces in our pursuit to make hockey more inclusive. We do not condone anti-LGBTQIA+ rhetoric, and we stand firmly with the community.” The three players with ties to Russia are Hawks defenseman Nikita Zaitsev, a Moscow native who represented Russia in eight major international tournaments; goaltender Anton Khudobin, a Kazakhstan-born Russian; and forward Philipp Kurashev, a Swiss national and son of former Russian hockey player Konstantin Kurashev. “I can’t speak to the Russian influence,” said Kurt Weaver, chief operations officer of the You Can Play Project, an LGBTQ+ athlete advocacy group, “but I deeply hope that that’s not the case for this team or any team that we’re going to adjust our advocacy according to a different country’s laws.” Those same Blackhawks sources indicated management was also influenced by Russia’s harsh treatment of other professional athletes, including out WNBA star Brittney Griner, who was sentenced to nine years in prison in Russia before being released in a prisoner exchange, and Philadelphia Flyers goaltending prospect Ivan Fedotov, who was detained as an “army evader” shortly before his planned move to the U.S. Fedatov has since been drafted and assigned to a remote military base in northern Russia. The NHL has been plagued by recent controversy surrounding Pride Night player defections, including Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Ivan Provorov’s refusal to wear a Pride-themed jersey in January,  citing his membership in the Russian Orthodox Church, and San Jose Sharks goaltender James Reimer’s decision last Saturday to opt out of warm-ups after refusing to a wear rainbow-themed jersey, also citing religious beliefs. And last night, brothers Eric and Marc Staal, who play together for the Florida Panthers, said religious beliefs were their reason for skipping a Pride Night warm-up, despite the fact both men have worn Pride-themed jerseys in the past, Eric with the Montreal Canadiens in 2021 and Marc with the New York Rangers in 2020. In the locker room after the Panthers’ 6-2 loss to the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs, Eric Staal struggled to explain the brothers’ decision and denied having ever worn a Pride-themed jersey. Left unsaid was what influence Ivan Provorov, James Reimer, and Vladimir Putin had on the brothers’ decision. http://dlvr.it/SlRqcd

GARRIOCH: Senators take a hit with goalie Cam Talbot out five-to-seven weeks
On the day training camp opened at the Canadian Tire Centre last month, coach D.J. Smith was asked what goals the club would like to accomplish over the course of the next three weeks.
After Smith gave an answer, general manager Pierre Dorion chimed in with his own short response. The club confirmed Monday afternoon that veteran goaltender Cam Talbot—brought in from the Minnesota Wild to help stabilize the club’s net—could be out five-to-seven weeks with what’s believed to be a broken rib.
Trying to make sure the club has some insurance in net with the start of the season set for Oct. 13 against the Buffalo Sabres on the road, Dorion picked up veteran goalie Magnus Hellberg off waivers from the Seattle Kraken.
The 35-year-old Talbot was scheduled to start Saturday against the Montreal Canadiens at home, but was a late scratch. A puck hit him underneath his equipment in practice, and as late as Monday morning, the Senators were hopeful the injury was just a bruise.
Talbot was acquired in July in exchange for Filip Gustavsson. Following further examination, the Senators learned he’ll be out longer than expected. Fortunately, the club has Anton Forsberg to carry the ball, and bringing in Hellberg means the club can send Mads Sogaard to Belleville to play games at the end of camp.
Forsberg has shown since he arrived here in March 2021 that he can carry the load, and the expectation was that he’d battle for playing time with Talbot.
It’s not the ideal scenario by any stretch, but there’s nothing you can do about injuries, and the Senators have to deal with the cards they’re dealt. Hellberg was selected No. 38 overall by the Nashville Predators in 2018 and has only suited up for five NHL games.
He signed a one-year deal with the Kraken worth $750,000 in July after spending most of last season in Russia in the Kontinental Hockey League.
According to oddshark.com, the Senators are plus-5000 to win the Stanley Cup, and the job just got a little more difficult. This news came only a couple of hours after the Senators left the ice following their first full skate of what essentially may be the roster's opening night.
Before that happens, there are still some decisions to be made with 31 players remaining in camp. A couple of players in a battle for jobs will be given another opportunity to show what they’ve got Tuesday night at the Bell Centre when the Senators face the Habs in the second of four consecutive games to close out the pre-season schedule.
While the top three lines are set, the only decision left up front for Dorion, Smith, and the rest of the hockey operations staff is to determine who will start against the Sabres as the fourth-line center.
At this point, Dylan Gambrell, prospect Mark Kastelic, veteran Derick Brassard, and Ridly Greig remain in the mix, but there will only be room for one of those four when Smith and his coaching staff submit the roster on Opening Night.
Judging by Monday’s skate at the Canadian Tire Centre, Kastelic will suit up against the Habs in Game 2 of this series that will continue with Kraft Hockeyville games Thursday in Newfoundland and Saturday in New Brunswick.
Brassard won’t play in the game in Montreal, but the 35-year-old is trying to earn a job and is on a professional tryout. The Senators will have determined by the time the preseason ends whether they want to sign him to a one-year deal or not.
The back end also remains a question mark. The top four are set, with Thomas Chabot, Artem Zub, Travis Hamonic and rookie Jake Sanderson rounding out the group. From there, it’s fair to say that veteran defenseman Nick Holden is penciled into the No. 5 spot.
Jacob Bernard-Docker and Jacob Larsson were in the fourth pairing Monday, and the expectation is they’ll be sent to Belleville before the year gets under way. Both have had good camps and are on the radar to be called up during the regular season.
That leaves defenceman Erik Brannstrom and veteran Nikita Zaitsev battling to be Holden’s partner against the Sabres. Who has the upper hand? Brannstrom put his best foot forward with a strong effort in a 5-4 OT win over the Habs on Saturday night, so right now he’s ahead.
Zaitsev struggled mightily, and Dorion has already stated publicly that he has to be better than last season to win a job. These three games will go a long way in determining whether it will be Zaitsev or Brannstrom that gets the sixth spot.

After last Saturday's game in Montreal, the Blackhawks were able to get a bounce back win tonight as they defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-1.
The first period was scoreless between both teams, but the Blackhawks were able to outshoot the Maple Leafs 9-7.
Tumblr media
It wasn't until the second period that Mackenzie Entwistle got the Blackhawks on the scoreboard first with assists by Andreas Athanasiou and Boris Katchouk; however, John Tavares tied the game up, making it a 1-1 game.
Tumblr media
Corey Perry broke the tie as he scored his first goal as a Blackhawk (assisted by Alex Vlasic and Seth Jones).
Tumblr media
During the second period, the Blackhawks were finally able to break their power play drought as Tyler Johnson scored his third goal of the season (assisted by Athanasiou and Kevin Korchinski, who got his first NHL career point) to give the Blackhawks a 3-1 lead going into the third period.
Taylor Raddysh scored an empty-net goal late in the third period, giving the Blackhawks the win.
Takeaways from tonight's game:
Hooray! The Blackhawks were able to do something with their power play tonight thanks to Tyler Johnson, who now has three goals so far this season. While it was good to see the Hawks do something with the power play, they need to continue to take advantage of the chances instead of letting them go to waste.
Taylor Hall returned to the lineup tonight after missing a game with a shoulder injury. In the third period, it looked like Hall had scored an empty net goal, but it was waved off because it was offside. Despite that, it was nice to see him back on the ice again and I hope Hall will get another chance to score a goal for his newborn son (who was born not that long ago).
Once again, the veteran Blackhawks stuck up for their younger teammates. In the first period, Nikita Zaitsev was hit by Noah Gregor which caused him to miss the remainder of the period. Connor Murphy dropped the gloves with Gregor soon afterwards because Gregor had hit Connor Bedard along the boards in his previous shift. I like how the veteran Blackhawks are sticking up for their younger teammates and not letting players from the other team push them around. I can imagine it must make the younger Blackhawks secure knowing that their older teammates have their backs on the ice.
I thought that Arvid Soderblom played very well tonight. He worked hard, made some good saves and was rewarded with the first star of the game. I hope that Soderblom can continue to keep up the good work.
The Blackhawks' next game will take place on Thursday against the Colorado Avalanche as they close out their road trip.
Until then, go Blackhawks!
