— some Safe Haven Newtmas headcanons 🫂

Thomas would often feel the need to ask Newt how he's feeling because of his leg pain that somehow only grew worse after being so close to the past Gone before receiving the cure;

Every time that happened, Newt would say it's fine, even if it wasn't. He knew if he told Thomas the truth, the brunet wouldn't let him help the community and work on their little farm for the rest of the day (it's his favorite activity, and also makes him feel useful).

Now that they actually had time to sit, talk and know each other better, Newt would spend hours telling Thomas his Glade stories from the time the brunet hadn't arrive yet;

Thomas would listen to it with a smile on his face, relieved that now everything was over and Next could rest and remember about the days of the Glade by the good bits.

Somehow they found an old record player and vinyls from before the Sun Flares in Safe Haven, and they sat together in silence just listening to songs for the first time.

During bonfires, Newt would stay up late chatting with their friends. Thomas would also stick around but, after feeling exhausted, would just sleep with his head on Newt's lap.

Stolen glances;

Hugs that lasted way longer than usual;

Acts of service and helping each other with their tasks once they were done with their own.

Newt started to question their relatioship after a while, especially when he would find Thomas helping or playing with the kids of the community and he noticed his heart would flutter at the view for some reason;

Thomas also started to look at Newt differently, mostly because everytime he would sleep on Newt's lap during bonfires, the blond woke him up with a sweet, low voice, whispering right next to his ear so they could get up and go to bed and his heart would stop.

Still, none of them would bring it up, afraid the other didn’t feel the same and they would only destroy their friendship.

But they didn't need to, of course, because Minho was the first one to bring up the fact they had feelings for one another the second he noticed how oblivious the two were.

Post of Assorted Happy Things

(Because this is my blog + no one can stop me. Is under a keep reading simply to avoid a "colour of the sky" situation)

New computer is all mine! Can adapt settings just for me, very dark screen, biggest easiest read font, can change the file icons to colours that make my brain happy. Settings that work best for me even if no one else can use them, because no one else has to.

My pet dog is a very good boy. He is sitting when asked and returning stolen objects nicely. He is still stealing objects, but will deal with one things at a time.

My computer notebook organization is going well. Can find many pages straight away. It is mine, so don't need to feel like people will judge me for what am putting in it. Have made glossaries of important but easy to forget words, lists of resources and a bunch of super basic techniques to help me function until memory kicks back in. Will also put some things from my "note to self" tag in there.

Learning new words is very hard for me now. Am never going to be fluent in a second language like once hoped. But now my important word glossaries include words from more than one language. Have already learnt a new word, the name of favorite bird. Am now trying also learn name of home. Moving slowly, but still moving.

People are still confusing, but am finding they are not all scary. Sometimes they take time to explain even if are not sure will understand them. Sometimes they are also confused + we are confused together. But many people are nice. Knowing this makes me want to share nice feelings with them too.

There are more happy things. There are enough things to make this post too long if list them all. Teenage me wasn't able to imagine this. Teenage me managed to get here anyway. Am very proud of them.

Video game theme park? 10/10 am having a blast.

Does anyone really talk about how different "Please Tommy, please" is in the movies than in the books?

In the movies, "Please Tommy, please" is Newt's beg for Thomas to take the necklace that had his note inside of it. Basically begging Thomas to take his last words, something to remember him by.

But in the books...

"Please Tommy, please" is a cry for mercy. A plead for Thomas to not let Newt fall into insanity. To end his suffering before he became a Crank past the Gone. He even wrote the "Kill me. If you've ever been my friend, kill me" note. He's been begging Thomas to kill him since the beginning of TDC.

It just hits differently in the books, man 😭
