Kit and Penny really are naturals at this baby care thing. Taking turns in changing Aska's diaper, they both often cuddled with her, cooed at her or showered her in kisses. As Penny was home all the time, she could take care of all feeding moments and luckily, breastfeeding went really well. Cheap and practical, double win!

Sustainable Diapering: Eco-Friendly Solutions for a Greener Planet | nappy rash cream
Introduction:
Hey there, fellow parents! Let's talk about diapers. Yep, those trusty companions that keep our little ones comfy and dry. But here's the thing – with all the concern about our planet's health, many of us are looking for ways to make our diapering routine more eco-friendly. Luckily, there are tons of options out there that not only keep our babies happy but also help keep Mother Earth smiling. So, grab a cup of coffee (or tea, if that's your jam) and let's dive into the world of sustainable diapering together and the best diaper rash cream.
Diapering with Heart: Eco-Friendly Solutions for Modern Parents
Embracing Cloth Diapers: A Blast from the Past (That's Still Awesome)
Remember those old-school cloth diapers your grandma used? Well, they're making a comeback – and for good reason! Cloth diapers are reusable, stylish, and gentle on your baby's skin. Plus, they significantly reduce the amount of waste we send to landfills. Pair them up with the best diaper rash cream to keep your little one's bum happy and rash-free.
Exploring Biodegradable Diapers: Nature's Little Helpers
If the thought of washing cloth diapers gives you the heebie-jeebies (no judgment here!), biodegradable diapers might be your new BFF. Made from plant-based materials, these diapers break down naturally over time, leaving behind a smaller environmental footprint. Don't forget to grab the best diaper rash cream – because no baby deserves a sore bottom, no matter what kind of diaper they wear!
Investing in Reusable Diaper Inserts: Good for the Planet, Great for Your Wallet
Let's talk reusable diaper inserts – they're like the superheroes of sustainable diapering. Made from organic cotton or bamboo, these inserts are washable and can be used over and over again. Translation? You'll save money and help save the

Ghost of fries and hero of cookies part 5
All work words count: 14 643
Words in this part: 1 685
Summary of whole work: Duke wasn't expecting to wake up from his quick rooftop nap to some meta kid with fries. He also wasn't expecting kid to stay
Or
Danny asked Dani to stay safe while she was in Gotham. Where would she be safer than under the wing of local hero? And he looked like he needed bad day combo anyway
This part summary: Steph finally gets to meet Duke's kid. And she comes bearing gifts!
Beta read by @audhumla-sailor though English is second language for both of us, so proceed with this in mind. I also know all of the charaters through fics alone, so probably ooc. Stay catious if it's something you don't like
First part, Previous part
Duke was really glad that Bruce was busy whole previous evening and couldn’t give him The TalkTM Vigilante edition. Maybe he shouldn’t because B being busy spoke trouble but he couldn’t feel too sad about it. He didn’t want to have The TalkTM though.
For now, Dani was running next to him, with a serious look on her face that was kinda uncanny. She wasn’t supposed to not be happy and some weird instincts were screaming at him to fix it and fix it now. But he didn’t know how!
Though some of his jokes caused a little smile, so it was good.
It turned potentially less good when she stopped without warning, lowering herself to the fighting stance (finally proper, which made him so immensely proud by the way). He stopped too, wishing they wouldn’t have to fight but he knew better than to latch on this hope.
“What’s up, Hoopoe?” he whispered.
“Someone is coming. Light, use grapple” Most likely one of the Bats then, they were due to a visit anyway. However better to not lower his guard in case he was mistaken or it was a prank/test. His expectations were proven right though, when purple blur flipped over the edge of the roof. He relaxed and put hand on Dani’s shoulder so she wouldn’t tackle Steph before they could explain anything. She seemed on edge like that whole day.
“Hey Spoiler” he greeted to further show that the blonde was a friend.
“Sup Signal! Heard I can finally meet your little friend!”
Dani straightened herself and tried to float a few inches up to seem higher probably.
“I’m considerably higher than most kids my age” she deadpanned. She really wasn’t though. He was still trying to learn whether her size was caused more by genetics or malnourishment. Her only family member Duke knew of was also small, so maybe it was a family thing though.
Steph shrugged, waving her palm a few inches below her shoulder, approximately where Damian reached, quite few inches over Dani’s head.
“Robin is the family’s smol violent bean and you’re shorter than him. You’re small bean, deal with this”
Little girl pouted, crossing her arms. Steph cooed.
“Oh, you even get angry like he does!”
Young meta looked like she was asking ‘Should I use violence?’ and inch towards the answer ‘Yes’. Duke decided he should step in before she acted on these thoughts. Teasing was the opposite of what girl needed at the moment. Some good fight might not be bad but maybe not with Steph.
“Cut it Spoiler”
She rolled her eyes so dramatically he could tell she did so despite her mask. He still thought it was impressive “Don’t be boring dude”
Dani growled in a way that couldn’t be fully human, just like she did when they talked about her training for the first time. Duke squeezed her arm. Girl glanced at him before sagging so much he was scared she would fall for a hot second. He exchanged concerned looks with Steph over her lowered head. It was not normal nor was it good.
“Alright, you’re not smol,” Steph agreed lightly “Officially at least. What’s in my head stays there. Does it work for you?”
Duke almost hit her in the arm. Not strongly, in a friendly manner but still. He didn’t only because it seemed to somehow work. He let his hands drop.
“Your mind is sacred,” Dani started seriously “what leaves your mouth is not. Can’t diss you on your thoughts but I’ll on your words” she shared like it was some important truth of life. Or folklore proverb though Duke wasn’t sure about the latter. Afterall he was Gothamite born and breed, he knew countryside from movies “And actions. Actions are kinda important,” meta girl added in lighter tone after moment of thinking.
“Yeah, actions are the best” Steph agreed easily “Hey, can I get it on a T-shirt? I’ll love and cherish it”
“First you laugh at my height and then you want my intellectual property for free? For shame, Spoiler, for shame?”
Steph looked thoughtful, theatrically over exaggerating her body language.
“Valid” she nodded.
Duke decided he would just watch whatever was going to happen and did damage control if needed. He didn’t feel up to anything else anyway.
“Heard your cape went in an adventure,” the purple vigilante admitted after moment of silence. Dani shrugged rubbing her arms awkwardly. Duke knew she normally would fix said cape. It was her way of fidgeting.
“Yup, it’s good way to put it,” girl nodded. “Somebody needed it more, I hope it enjoys its travel. I should get a replacement soon”
“Well, I can’t let fellow caped crusader, who understands necessity of hood, run capeless”
Younger girl waved her hands in a flurry motion of dismissal.
“Don’t-” she stopped when her eyes locked on orange bundle Steph took from somewhere under her cloak. Opportunity to pull tricks like that had made Duke consider adding some sort of cape to his Signal suit back when he had been working on it back in a day but dismissed it. He still wasn’t looking forward to learning curve of fighting with such additional liability. He couldn’t turn it intangible when it was in a way like certain white haired cheater did.
Speaking of Dani, girl stared at Steph’s gift like she couldn’t quite believe it was real. She held her hands close to her chest but her fingers flexed in grabby motion. Her eyes were hidden behind black lenses of her mask but everything else about her face further proved how awestruck she was. Even her muted aura brightened a bit in a way that he learned to recognize as excitement.
It was still kind of weird, by the way. Normal auras haven’t changed, it was kinda their thing.
Steph wiggled her gift a bit. Dani finally took it but had yet to put it on.
“It’s for me?” she whispered so utterly shocked and small that Duke mentally did a double take.
“Yeah, like I said, can’t let you run around without it”
“Oh”
Dani’s hand was gnawing at the edge of the material as if it was some sort of squashmellow.
“Try it on,” Steph encouraged gently.
“We need to check if Spoiler haven’t messed up something”
“Signal!”
Dani snorted, which was all Duke tried to achieve.
She put it on and after a moment of shuffling she once again became orange cloak with feet. She grinned widely looking far more relaxed and settled than she did moments before. She moved around a bit like she was in model show or at least what ten years old thought it could look like.
“You like it?”
“Yup, it’s amazing, thank you Spoiler… Though it’s heavier than I expected”
“Well, I don’t know what your first one was made out of but this is material I use, I found it the best balance between durability, weight and comfiness. Still, it’s quite dense and a bit heavy. Also, I added pockets because you can never have too many of them. Plus there are few glitter bombs inside. You know, ‘welcome to the team’ gifts,” Steph explained eagerly and judging by Dani’s smile, she loved her gifts. Duke would be a little worried on a Gotham crime’s behalf if it wasn’t well, crime and if he wasn’t all there to watch chaos these two would unfold from sidelines with bat-popcorn in hand (though it wasn’t really a thing yet, he would have to mention it to Tim or Jason). For now though, they really should continue on the patrol.
“Now that introductions are over, let’s get going. Crime never sleeps or something,” It was really weird to be the organized one. Before Dani showed up, on a day shift he was a sailor, a captain and a ship (or maybe Gotham was a ship-), We Are Robins days were chaos in purest form and shape and when he was called out for a night he usually was too tired to behave and was just additional mess to organize (on purpose, let him have his goddamn sleep, he wasn’t Tim).
“Okay,” Dani agreed cheerfully “There is a robbery at the greek diner we visited last Thursday. ‘s been going for five minutes or so,” she added unbothered.
“HOOPOE!”
“What?”
***
Spoiler jumped through the open window of the diner with a graceful roll, glitter bombs at hand. Hoopoe and Signal came inside right after her.
“Spoiler alert!” purple girl yelled, throwing two bombs at robbers heads and kicking third one in the ribs.
Dani decided that she liked Spoiler right then and there as she threw her own brand new, orange(!) glitter bombs at remaining criminal.
***
Three of them were running through the city mostly uninterrupted after diner mishap. Steph tried to engage Dani in quip battle but younger girl for once wasn’t jumping on occasion. She kept close to Duke and his only reaction was smug smile in Spoiler’s direction. That’s what she got for trying to steal his sidekick.
“Oh!” Dani exclaimed delighted, stopping abruptly, a smile that spoke trouble gracing her face.
“No, we’re not busting Joker’s scheme by jumping into the meeting to beat them all up without proper back up, again, Hoopoe. They had guns, Hoopoe.”
“Wha- Wasn’t last time enough? Anyway, I heard there is fan meeting with Martian Manhunter in Los Angeles tomorrow,” Great, so no giving him heart attack right now. Thank God for that.
“Shame he won’t make it, huh?” Steph mussed “He is in Illinois right now, isn’t he? It would take him two days driving to even get there”
Dani’s expression looked thoughtful “It’s quite far”
“Yeah, around… 2,500 miles from here”
“Huh”
“What got you thinking kid?” she inquired, ruffling her hair.
“Not a kid and I thought- there is kidnapping at three!” Dani darted in that direction before finishing sentence. Duke jumped right after her slightly scared. She was not ready to handle stuff like that without back up and she would try if he let her run of like that.
********
Steph: I'm meeting my almost niece tomorrow what should I- *gives a gremlin child an ultimate weapon of chaos*
Sometime before this part:
Steph: So, how is your kid?
Duke: She is not my kid!
Duke: By the way, wanna see video I saved of her doing proper side kick for the first time?
Danielle "looks like 10 years old is 10 months max" Phantom: I am in fact much higher than most kids my age
Duke "whoever is feeding this tiny child does bad job at it" Thomas & Stephanie "it's just a lil baby" Brown: Yeah... sure...

febuwhump day 2 -- holding back tears
isha: a Hass term of endearment meaning "my heart" canon status: canon (outtake) pov character: jack words: 1.7k
the raedoran cycle
Jack slips through the stable doors, ducking behind a stack of hay bales when the door into the inn swings open, allowing light and the raucous sound of laughter to spill out into the stables. The inn is still crowded, so Eima will still be at the bar and Kamon will likely be with her, supervising. He’ll start clearing them all out within an hour, so Jack doesn’t have a lot of time. The real trick will be getting into the private quarters at the back of the building without Kamon seeing him.
He climbs out the back window of the stables and up onto its roof, finding the loose windowpane on the second-floor corridor and wedging it open. He slides in silently and pulls the window back into place. There’s another loose window, this one due to a few chips he’d taken out of the sill over the course of several visits—he checks that no one is looking, then climbs out the window and onto the thin overhang over the window directly below. His arms burn when dangles from the overhang, his muscles protesting that it’s been a long time since he’s done this, and it takes him longer than it used to to get the final window open with his foot. He manages not to drop himself into the lake and swings back into the inn, landing gracefully on the wooden floor of the private living quarters for Meja’s family.
The door to the younger children’s room is shut and Jack makes his way carefully around the creaky floorboards, ears perked for any sound. The noises of the inn’s patrons are muted back here. He sees a light under Meja’s door and feels his stomach drop, a part of him wanting to turn and run. But the rest of him desperately needs her comfort right now, so he steps up to the door.
“Kamon?” Meja’s voice calls, and Jack nearly loses his nerve. “Is that you?”
He pushes open the door and she looks up from her seat on the edge of her bed, her hair hanging loose around her face. She’s in her dressing gown, a comb in one hand, and pauses when she sees him standing in the doorway. She blinks, and Jack swallows nervously. “I’ve been told I look like him,” he says, attempting one of his roguish smirks and knowing he’s failing.
Meja just smiles softly, gesturing for him to come sit. He shuts the door quietly, not wanting to wake the sleeping children down the hall, and sits on the bed at her side.
“You look tired,” she says, winding her arms around him in a tight hug. He doesn’t answer, leaning into the hug, and she runs her fingers down his spine. “I’ll make you something to eat.”
He nods, burying his face in her hair. She still smells of spices from whatever she’d cooked for the inn, and the faintest hint of lake water. She squeezes him once and lets go, winding her shawl around her hair with a practiced twist. Jack follows her back down to the empty kitchen and hops up onto the counter to watch as she glides around the cramped space, lighting the fire and chopping ingredients and swiftly sending one of the little ones back upstairs when he comes down looking for the sweets. He still remembers the day she found him, and the little pot of sweet elderflower jam she’d given him to eat. Kamon was always so exasperated when he realized Jack had eaten it all again, and Meja only ever smiled and said that perhaps Jack had a little Hass blood after all. She’d never been fazed by his failings, or his thievery, or the times that he came to her with bloody knuckles and a bloody lip and she had to patch up his injuries before he let Arthur see. And now he’s come home, after disappearing for months and never sending word, and all she wants to do is make him dinner.
He presses his hands to his eyes, sniffing in a pathetic attempt to keep the tears in. He hears the gentle clink of Meja setting down her knife and her fingers wrap around his, peeling his hands away from his face. He keeps his eyes closed, not wanting to see whatever expression is on her face.
“Isha, what’s wrong?” she asks, and she sounds so worried and sad and he hates himself, because he has never deserved having her in his life. Kamon was right that first day—he is a demon in human skin, here to trick her into caring about him only to break her heart. “Are you hurt?”
“Are you not angry with me?” he asks, his voice trembling. Her hands are still wrapped around his, and he feels no reaction to his words. “I...why aren’t you angry with me?”
He can hear the smile in her voice. “Do you wish for me to be angry with you, isha?” She lets go of his hand to pat his cheek. “Bjerkja heard my prayers, and delivered you to my door unharmed. What do I have to be angry about?”
He shakes his head, still refusing to open his eyes. “I disappeared. I never sent word.”
“You know I can’t read,” she laughs, but he only winces. She sighs and switches to Hassa. “My beautiful son, I could never be angry with you. Whatever sins you think you committed, you will forever be innocent in my eyes.” She squeezes his hand and lets go. He opens her eyes to see her return to her cooking, the smell of it filling the room. Jack watches her work, tears stinging the backs of his eyes but never falling, and thinks of the way she used to tuck him into the hay of the stables, wrapped in furs, and sing him a lullaby until he fell asleep. He remembers the day he realized she was hiding him from the city guard, when he woke up to her voice arguing with Kamon’s about the danger he was putting the two of them in, and their family. When he heard the clanking of armor as their voices fell silent, and when Kamon’s voice lied for him, protecting him despite shouting only minutes before that he was demon and a curse.
“You won’t be able to tell me about your adventures on an empty stomach,” Meja teases, pushing a bowl of rice and vegetables topped with fried fish into his hands and breaking him from his melancholy thoughts. “Eat before you wither away before my very eyes!”
He laughs and her eyes crinkle with her smile. He devours the food quickly, having missed the rich spices and flavors of her cooking. Birdie’s stews are fine, but she learned to cook from her father, and he had clearly never met a spice rack. Meja’s cooking is a royal feast, and the bowl is empty quickly. Jack wipes his hands on a rag Meja hands him and leans back, still perched on the counter. “I can see the inn is doing well.”
“I don’t want to talk about the inn,” Meja sighs, pulling him down from the counter. She drags him over to the table tucked in the corner where the family eats and sits him down, examining him more closely in the brighter light under the lanterns. “I want to hear all about your adventures.” Her eyes roam over his face, as if she’s trying to find any differences since she saw him last. “Is Arthur still with you?”
“Yes,” he says, and she smiles widely. “He’s doing well; I’m sure he’ll stop by in the next day or two.”
“Whenever,” Meja says with a dismissive wave of her hand. “What exploits have the two of you been up to? You look wiser.”
Jack smiles, sure that she’s exaggerating. “I met a witch and two dragons,” he says. “I befriended one of the dragons and the witch, and I’m doing a pretty good job convincing the other dragon not to kill me.”
“You’ve always been my little troublemaker,” Meja laughs. “Witches and dragons; next you’ll tell me you’ve slain a sea serpent!”
“Perhaps on my next adventure,” Jack says, pretending to be disappointed. She tugs on his ear affectionately and listens as he tells her about Birdie’s cottage, and Fabin and Emilia, and the magic that Arthur has been learning. She gets up at one point and produces a platter of fried dough dusted in powdered sugar practically from nowhere, the two of them slowly picking away at the sweets while Jack tells her his stories.
“Meja, are you in here?” Kamon calls, and Meja’s eyes soften, her whole frame relaxing just a bit. Jack wonders if he looks like that when Arthur walks into a room. He doesn’t turn to the door, where he knows Kamon is standing and looking at the two of them. He’s not sure he’s ready to face Kamon’s reaction to his return.
“Kamon,” Meja says. “Look who Bjerkja brought back to us.”
Jack’s shoulders tense as Kamon’s footsteps cross the room to him. He gulps and keeps his eyes on the platter of sweets when Kamon pauses right next to him, smelling of lakewater and leather. He can feel his eyes on the side of his head but he isn’t ready, he doesn’t want it to hurt yet.
“Dammit, Jack, look at me,” Kamon says, and Jack snaps his gaze to his face. Kamon grins at him despite the tears sliding down his cheeks. “Fuck, kid, you scared us. I’m so happy you’re safe.”
He leans down to grab Jack in a crushing hug, pulling him halfway out of his seat. Jack blinks, feeling tears well up in his eyes again, and it takes him a second to remember how to hug. He buries his face in Kamon’s shoulder and tries not to cry.
“I’m sorry,” he gasps, without realizing the words are spilling from him. “I’m sorry.”
“What for?” Kamon asks, without letting go of him. “You’re here, aren’t you?”
“I’m a curse on your family.” Jack gulps in shaking breaths. “I’m a curse.”
“You are our family,” Kamon says, and Meja’s arms wrap around them as well. “The accident of your birth will never change that.”
Jack finally lets himself cry, sinking into their hold.

also as a society plagued by wealth inequality and rising cost of living we really need to address how we show love through money. like I offered to come over to help them decorate their new house so many times and they kept refusing me 😞 I wanted to help them paint! but noooooooo
#like I get it she's a control freak and she just wanted her husband to do the painting#but I dunno it's like. that is something i would have enjoyed doing and I'd rather do twenty different odd jobs around your new house#than scroll an amazon registry#and I get that I should just shut up and fork over the cash and just accept it gracefully ...#and to be very clear that is what I am doing. that is what I did. I already ordered an item off their registry.#but I dunno I just wish there was a way to show a sense of community outside of money#can't bring them food because she has gestationaldiabetes and has to watch her diet and idk what she can eat#can't help them set uo their house because she was being a control freak about it#can't watch the baby once theyre born for her because I don't know how to do that (lol)#can't come over and clean for her once the baby is here because she already told me she doesnt want ppl doing that#so instead I just have to stare at my budget knowing that the money is almost inconsequential to them but precious to me#and just have to decide how cheap I can stretch my grocery budget to compensate#I just hate how this is the only venue I am given to like. support my friend through pregnancy. anyways.#it's not about me whatever yeah yeah but if I'm so goddamn gracious and understanding and compassionate and caring IRL I need somewhere to#come vent my dark bitter underbelly thoughts. and that is tumblr dot com.

I may already have decided that we're getting a third cat, later this year or maybe next year.
I really want a kitten 😭 our two boys were already six months old when we finally got them, and I really missed that earlier time. we had a bunch of kittens when I was younger but we never had any toys for our cats or anything, so I'd like to experience that properly. and my husband never had cats before, so he's never been around kittens.
I don't know, it's probably stupid, but I don't think we'll want more cats when our boys are gone (though hopefully it'll be many years before that happens), so it would make sense to get another cat while they're still young.
#I hope they'd accept a new cat... they're very close so. I don't know? I'll have to do more research on that#my family never cared so we just got more and more cats and most of them didn't get along#ugh.. I miss my baby Molly. she's still alive but I miss when she was a tiny little kitten. she was way too young but she was born on a -#farm and she was gonna be killed so. she had to be rescued#I even miss the first week where she slept on me and every night she peed on me.#I had to train her to use the litter box and everything#somehow she turned out okay (hey! I was like 18! I had no idea what I was doing and was just handed the tiniest little kitten. I'm glad -#she was old enough that she was fine....)#but man I miss that#personal

ALSO I need you all to know that my aunt heard me affectionately talking about someone and later when my cousin drove her home, was like "I didn't know she was gay!" And, like, kudos to my aunt who was 100% cool with that (though surprised) and did not make a big deal about it in the moment, but I later had to inform her that my bestie and I are unfortunately not a couple because she is tragically heterosexual. I mean, with that said though, she is right and I AM gay.
#I mean look. she's got the spirit. she's a lot of things but by god she's not a homophobe. hahahahahaha#also re: not a couple: we're platonic soulmates tho so it's fine#she has LITERALLY said the GAYEST SHIT IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE about us like HOZIER-LEVEL GAYNESS hahahahaha so I am so fine with it lmaoooo#Oh and a few years ago I delegated the task of coming out to my family to my mother who told my other aunt and uncle that I'm queer#and my other aunt was like “....so what's the news you had?”#and my mom was like “that's it”#and my aunt was like “oh okay. well we love her anyway and don't care. what do you want for lunch?”#so my mom was like#“hey. listen. I don't think this is necessary. so I'm not gonna bother telling anyone else.” and I was like “okay cool thanks.”#I saw them in Jan when I visited my then-gf who lived north of them and they asked to see a picture and were like “oh she's cute!!” lol#also I mentioned an ex girlfriend to my nephews last week and they simply did not react. and these are kids who go to catholic school haha#I also explained the difference between republicans and democrats to them after they asked (I was watching the news)#during which time I had to explain abortion#so I was like “...and Republicans think that abortion is killing babies before they're born...”#and my nephews were like “that doesn't make sense!”#and I was like “yeah. my biggest gripe with s5 is the show wants me to think j.ohnny is suddenly ready to be a dad after NOT dealing with his shit properly and that having a new kid suddenly means that not being there for r.obby for the first 17 years of his life doesn't matter anymore and I say fuck that
#❖ muse ⊱ ── 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧𝐧𝐲 𝐋𝐚𝐰𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞#and I love s5 actually it's probably my second favorite season#I think as a whole it's great#but you can tell they tried to band-aid a lot of the conflicts instead of *actually* writing fleshed out solutions#they did that with most of the rivalries#and j.ohnny having a new kid on the way doesn't suddenly make him a good dad#doing better for the new kid doesn't make up for how he treated r.obby. if anything it makes it worse#that he will step up for a baby that isn't even born yet but not the son he already had and the woman he left to raise him alone#I looooooove j.ohnny but this is just not a fair representation of his character and goes against his arc#which is about finally recognizing his past for what it was and trying to fix his mistakes. FINALLY breaking the cycle of abuse and neglect#it's regressive that they keep doing this to him#he spent four seasons learning that doing right by m.iguel doesn't make up for not doing right by r.obby#and that his son needs him too and he can't just keep ignoring the consequences of his own actions#only to then in s5 say hey actually here's another kid for him to focus on instead. and this is all he will care about now.#how dare????#s5 should have been him and r.obby working on their shit for the whole season not like ... two episodes lmao#I'm not against the baby plot I think the idea is interesting it's just . . . it wasn't handled well on the show.#it should have been treated like a source of conflict and a reason to confront some inner trauma. not baby ex machina.

Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6
Reader who gets pregnant off of a one night stand with some soldier during armed forces day, showing your appreciation for his service a little too well.
You had a support system, friends who joked about you having way too much fun, hence your predicament, others already offering to buy things for the baby and your parents who couldn't be happier to meet their grandchild.
But what about the father?
Well, it's not exactly like you could track him down. Fuck, you didn't even know the man's name, only how he made you feel, his filthy words strumming in your ear, big hands tight around your waist, hips slamming away in a desperate chase.
Let's forget how you leg-locked him.
When your daughter was born, everything changed, and time slowed down. She was a quiet baby, barely crying or having any outbursts like a normal child would but outspoken in her own little way. That chunky thing came out of the womb with a glare. Brown eyes staring down anyone and everyone but you.
That's something she definitely got from her father. You vividly remember how his umber eyes watching you from across the bar. He was like an eagle waiting for the perfect moment to strike his prey. A perfect soldier.
So, you named your daughter Adira in memory of his strength. That's one thing he could have.
Adira loved to be by your side. Her chubby cheeks pressed into the nook of your neck, holding you close with strength of a thousand babies. Your clingy little thing was a koala, always by her mommy's side, never straying far no matter how curious she got. When she learned to walk, her favorite thing became to hug your leg, especially while in stores. She hated people, wearing a tiny scowl whenever customers passed by tucking herself closer to you.
Maybe it was a good thing her father wasn't around. Having to compete for her first words would've been a bloodbath.
You spent two years in bliss. The fact that you were a single mother an afterthought to raising what you considered a blessing.
With Adira's second Christmas coming up, you wanted to do something special. She loved trains and found them absolutely amusing, often mimicking the honk as she ran around your apartment. Thankfully, there was a train ride for kids around the park during this time of year.
Here, you stood in line, bundled up to the nines. Big poofy coat, warm gloves, and fuzzy boots. As the crowd moved, Adira clung close, arms wrapped around your leg, glowering at any passerby with an annoyed look on her rosy cheeks.
That one was new. Maybe something else she got from her father.
The two of you took steps in tow, keeping Adira close and comfortable as the train came into view. Her expression shifted, excitement palpable. "Twain!" She squealed, jumping up and down.
Before you could respond to Adira's childlike joy, a man bumped into you by accident, nearly stumbling over his own feet. He turns to look at you, blue eyes meeting yours, but you were too focused on the weird ass Mohawk on his head.
People wore still those?
"Sorry bout that lass." The man starts to apologize, a Scottish accent lacing his voice.
That breaks your stare, laughing awkwardly to mask your wandering gaze. "Oh no, it's fine. You should be careful. you might slip on ice."
He nods, giving you a kind smile. The Scottish man starts to leave, but the look your kid was giving him sent shivers down his spine.
Little Adira was giving him a fierce stare down from behind your leg before ultimately cutting her eyes at him as if he were merely a nuisance.
"Next in line! Mctavish!"
The man doesn't stay after that. You assume that it was him they were calling with the way he hurried off. Hope he doesn't fall, seemed like a nice guy.
Soap can't help but do a double take when be gets to the front. The little rascal was wearing his Lieutenants face, hawk eyeing anyone who dared got to close. It was like looking in a mirror.
He nudged Gaz, making a gesture to look back without making it obvious. "See the lass and her bairn in line?"
Gaz gives him a raised brow, looking back for a second before turning around. "There's a lot of kids with their mother's, Johnny."
Soap glances back, double checking to make sure you were still in line. “The lass with the wee one—she’s got the same wicked look as Lt. You cannae miss her.”
Gaz rolls his eyes but humors Soap by looking once more, his eyes scanning the crowd until they land on a little girl already mean-mugging him from a distance. He swiftly turns around, blinking in surprise, trying to comprehend what he saw. "Uh..."
Soap only nods in agreement. That was Ghost's face, on a kid no less. He wastes no time, elbowing Roach and getting him to look back as well, leaving the other Sergeant in the same shock as Gaz. "That is not a face a kid should have."
"Agreed." Gaz added, shuddering at the thought.
"Where's the cap?" Soap asks, the train ride no longer feeling like fun now that he’s discovered the jackpot.
"Market place with Lt. for cigs," Gaz knowingly remarked, remembering that Price had run out on their way here.
"Well, let's go show them a Christmas miracle," Soap shot up from his seat all too eagerly.
The sergeants just got their Christmas present.

Boosting Your Child's Immunity: Tips for a Healthy Start
A child’s immunity plays a crucial role in their overall well-being, enabling them to fend off infections and grow healthy and strong. As a parent, ensuring your child has a robust immune system can set the foundation for lifelong health. At Dr Ashwini Karale's Kids Clinic, a trusted children's clinic in Baner, we aim to help parents understand the key factors contributing to boosting immunity, starting from early childhood. Here are some vital tips that can help strengthen your child’s immune system for a healthy start in life.
Breastfeeding for Natural Immunity
Breast milk is often referred to as the "first vaccine" because it contains antibodies that protect infants from infections. Colostrum, the initial milk produced by the mother, is packed with immunoglobulins that help build a newborn's immune system. Exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life is highly recommended by pediatricians, including Dr. Ashwini Karale, to provide a strong foundation for your baby’s health.
Balanced Nutrition for Immune Support
Nutrition plays a pivotal role in boosting immunity. A diet rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants helps your child's body develop a defense system that can fight off infections. Focus on providing a variety of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Vitamin C-rich foods like oranges, strawberries, and broccoli, along with zinc-rich foods like nuts and seeds, are known to boost immune function.
If you're unsure about whether your child is receiving adequate nutrition, consider scheduling a child development assessment in Baner with Dr. Karale. Her clinic provides comprehensive health check-ups to ensure your child’s nutritional and developmental needs are being met.
Regular Physical Activity
Physical activity is vital for building a strong immune system. Exercise helps promote healthy circulation, allowing immune cells to move freely through the body and perform their protective functions. Encourage your children to engage in at least one hour of active play every day, whether it’s outdoor sports, cycling, or simply running around the park.
At Dr. Ashwini Karale's Children Clinic in Baner, we often advise parents on the importance of balancing screen time with physical play to ensure children develop not just physically, but mentally and emotionally too.
Adequate Sleep
Sleep is a powerful ally when it comes to boosting immunity. During sleep, the body produces cytokines—proteins that help fight infections and inflammation. A lack of sleep can impair the production of these vital proteins, making your child more susceptible to illnesses. Ensuring your child gets the recommended amount of sleep (10-14 hours, depending on their age) will keep their immune system in top shape.
If you notice behavioral issues or problems with concentration due to poor sleep, a visit to Dr. Karale’s clinic can help identify any underlying health concerns and guide you on improving your child’s sleep patterns.
Vaccinations: A Critical Tool
Vaccinations are one of the most effective ways to strengthen your child’s immune system. Vaccines work by preparing the immune system to recognize and fight specific pathogens, reducing the risk of potentially serious infections. At Dr. Ashwini Karale's Kids Clinic, we follow a comprehensive immunization schedule that ensures your child is protected against common diseases.
Parents can discuss their child’s vaccination needs and understand the importance of timely immunizations during a child development assessment.
Minimizing Stress and Encouraging Emotional Well-being
Children are sensitive to stress, and emotional well-being is often overlooked when considering physical health. Chronic stress can weaken the immune system, making children more vulnerable to illnesses. Encouraging open communication, providing a stable and loving environment, and teaching children relaxation techniques can go a long way in reducing stress levels.
Dr. Karale’s clinic also focuses on holistic approaches to child health, offering guidance on both physical and emotional development to ensure a well-rounded approach to your child’s care.
Conclusion
Boosting your child's immunity is essential for giving them a healthy start in life. By focusing on breastfeeding, proper nutrition, regular exercise, sufficient sleep, timely vaccinations, and emotional well-being, you can equip your child with the tools they need to grow strong and healthy. For personalized guidance, you can visit Dr. Ashwini Karale's Children Clinic in Baner, where comprehensive services like child development assessments in Baner are available to ensure your child’s developmental milestones are met, and their health is on track.
