Why Choose a Nepal and Bhutan Tour?
Nepal and Bhutan complement each other beautifully, offering distinct landscapes, cultures, and histories. Nepal is home to towering Himalayan peaks, including Mount Everest, and historic sites like the Kathmandu Valley’s UNESCO World Heritage sites. On the other hand, Bhutan, often referred to as the "Land of the Thunder Dragon," charms visitors with its commitment to Gross National Happiness, well-preserved monasteries, and verdant landscapes.
A Nepal and Bhutan group tour ensures that all the logistics — from accommodations to transportation — are seamlessly managed, allowing you to focus on exploring these mesmerizing destinations.
Highlights of Nepal Tour
Kathmandu Valley: Start your journey in the bustling city of Kathmandu. Visit iconic sites like Swayambhunath (the Monkey Temple), Boudhanath Stupa, and the Durbar Squares of Kathmandu, Patan, and Bhaktapur. Each of these places exudes history and spirituality.
Adventure in Pokhara: Known as the "Gateway to the Himalayas," Pokhara offers breathtaking views of the Annapurna range. Activities like paragliding over Phewa Lake or trekking to the Annapurna Base Camp provide unparalleled thrills.

Thimphu: Bhutan’s capital city combines modernity with traditional charm. Visit the Tashichho Dzong, Buddha Dordenma statue, and the National Library to understand Bhutan’s heritage better.
Punakha Dzong: Located at the confluence of two rivers, this fortress-monastery is renowned for its architectural brilliance and serene environment.
Best Time to Visit Nepal and Bhutan
The best time for a Nepal Bhutan Group Tour is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). During these seasons, the weather is pleasant, skies are clear, and the natural scenery is at its peak.
Spring: Witness the bloom of rhododendrons in Nepal and the vibrant festivals in Bhutan, like Paro Tsechu.
Autumn: Ideal for trekking in Nepal and enjoying the lush green landscapes of Bhutan.
Advantages of a Group Tour
A group tour offers several benefits, including cost-effectiveness and expert guidance. Travel itineraries often incorporate the best attractions and hidden gems of both countries. Additionally, traveling with like-minded people can enhance your experience by creating shared memories.
Itinerary for Nepal Bhutan Tour
Day 1-3: Arrival in Kathmandu, Nepal Begin your journey exploring the Kathmandu Valley’s historic and spiritual sites. Attend a traditional Nepali dinner with cultural performances to kick off your adventure.

I want to have a home, it can be small too, and I want the kitchen and the dining room and my study to be my absolute favourite parts of the house (they already are!) and I of course want to have a humble library, I also want plants creeping up and down the walls, I want tiled patterns of yellow and blue on the floor, I'm going to have a incense sticks from India (we call them agarbatti, oud and bukhoor) and have a wall dedicated to masala for amazing scents and tea, I'm going to have two work desks - one to write on and the other for purposeful creative clutter, I'm going to have so many big windows and stained glass in my home that light and colour are always thrown around the walls lazily, I want to have two cats and one dog, I'm going to get a phonograph and vinyl records of all old hindi filmy favourites from the '60s to the '90s, I'm going to have a ranch with intricate woodwork and a swing, and I'm going to wear sarees kurta/shawls all the time
I cannot imagine where this location would be, but ideally it would be in Asia - I have still so much to see of northern India's mountainous locations and I like the cold there and the warmth is everything too. I think toward north east India, or the places that Ruskin Bond writes about is where I want to live

Colombo, Sri Lanka
I arrived in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from Delhi with great relief. I was tired of Indian cities, with their congestion, pollution, and trash.
As I took a taxi into central Colombo from the airport, all those issues faded. The roadway worked well, and there was no air pollution or piles of trash everywhere. In the two days since arrival, I have seen trash on the streets here, but nothing like in India. Why is this the case for two countries adjacent to each other?
It is just my opinion, but I believe that the dominant Hindu religion of India and the dominant Buddhist religion of Sri Lanka are at least partially responsible.
I made similar observations on previous trips to Bhutan and Nepal. It starts in the temples. Buddhist temples focus on serenity and simplicity. They are clean, neat, and relatively quiet. Hindu temples are as chaotic as the surrounding streets. Offerings of candles, flowers, etc., end up on the floor, furthering the chaotic atmosphere.
All of this pushes me further towards respecting Buddhism. Certainly, the Buddhist religion is attractive to me, but the comparison here has had a big impact.
But back to the travelogue.
My hotel in Colombo is the Galle Face Hotel, located on the waterfront just south of downtown. It is 170 years old and a Grand Damme of hotels in Sri Lanka.
When I booked this trip, Cathie was joining me in Sri Lanka between my tours of India and Oman. Since then, the Oman tour has been canceled, and we decided that the long, complicated flights to Sri Lanka would not be good for Cathie. So, I am here alone in more upscale hotels than I might have booked for myself and on a more relaxed schedule than my typical. Not that I am complaining. This hotel is very nice, and I have time to relax. Maybe I could get used to this.
I arrived at the Galle Face late afternoon and headed down to the restaurants/bars along the shore for sunset.
Tumblr media
The next morning, I headed to a nearby Hindu temple. It's a southern style temple, so all the statues are painted. It is remarkably different from the unpainted ones in Norther India.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then, I stopped at the Gangarayama Buddhist Temple.
Tumblr media
The statues' decoration style was very similar to that of the Hindu temple.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This last statue is of the Buddhist as an ascetic monk before his enlightenment. The story is that he tried multiple practices to find his way, fasting for 49 days at one point. None of those approaches worked, and he developed a middle path.
Tumblr media
I understand it is part of history, but it depicts him on a path that didn't work.
I was pointed to a famous local architect, Geoffrey Bawa, that people on the India tour particularly admired. So I stopped at a local restaurant, The Gallery Cafe, that is in his former office.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The open-air spaces in the restaurant would have been a perfect office for working in Sri. Lanka.
