Bucky Barnes was one lucky man.
If someone had told him years ago that he was going to live in a quaint home in the suburbs, a lovely backyard space for a dog and a cat to enjoy, and that he'd be married to the absolute love of life, an angel on earth who was now carrying his first child—
He honestly would've stared at them dead in the eye, wondering how someone could make such a cruel joke.
Yet here he was, actually living it, a life that seemed so much like a dream.
Though he was quickly reminded of how real this was as he stood in the nursery, glaring at the manual that came with the crib you two had bought from the furniture store.
It looked simple enough at first—putting together ready-made pieces should be easy, right?
Wrong.
Not when you have countless amounts of screws that more or less looked the same but were actually not because each served a different purpose.
He was in the middle of figuring out how to install the legs to the main base when you walked into the room with your two bodyguards—Alpine the Cat and Snow the five-year-old Samoyed—in tow.
"How's it going, handsome?" you hummed as you reached his side, arms wrapping around his waist, your warmth immediately easing the frustration he had about this goddamn crib.
"It's…" he sighed, gesturing at the wooden pieces scattered around the floor. "Going."
You laughed at that, kissing his clothed shoulder before standing in front of him.
Bucky held your waist then, pulling you as close as he could given that your baby bump was in the middle of you both.
He honestly couldn't begin to express how much comfort and warmth covered his whole being every time he was met with the absolute love in your eyes.
And Bucky was sure his gaze shined the same.
So many people have pointed it out on numerous occasions, the twinkle in his eyes every time they land on you—his beautiful wife.
"I was thinking," you murmured, resting your hands on his chest, moving up his shoulder and down again in a sweet caress. "How about a quick break while we order some food?"
It was only about an hour after lunch, so Bucky wasn't particularly keen on filling his stomach some more.
But you, on the other hand, were nearing the end of your second trimester. It wasn't out of the norm for you to be hungry at this time, given you were eating for two. Plus, there was an added layer that your little peanut probably had some super soldier serum in their DNA—the baby's appetite could be enhanced for all he knew.
Other than that, the last thing Bucky wanted was an angry and hungry pregnant wife. So it wasn't really a hard decision to make.
"Okay, let's get you something to eat," he said.
Ever the observant person that you were, you quickly noticed his choice of words.
"For me?" you asked, brows furrowed. "You're not hungry?"
Bucky shook his head. "Not really."
Your bottom lip went.
He instantly knew he said the wrong thing.
"But I'm hungry," you murmured, eyes starting to glisten.
He could never explain it even if he tried, but whenever you got upset, your bodyguards always seemed to notice it. The two have always been protective of you and that only grew tenfold when you got pregnant.
Today wasn't an exception.
Snow barked at him, whining his complaints as he put his fifty-pound body between your legs, slightly pushing Bucky back. The furball was well trained though, so his protectiveness never went too far beyond being vocal about it. Alpine, on the other hand, was sitting a foot away, glaring at Bucky—quite the traitor given that she was supposed to be his cat, but he couldn't blame her for loving you, either—as if she knew it was his fault you were upset.
But still, Bucky wasn't quite sure what he'd done wrong.
"I know, sweetheart," he said slowly, a little confused, trying to navigate around Snow who was pawing at his leg as if trying to push him further away. "I'll order some food for you."
"But you're not hungry," you repeated, body slumping with sadness.
"I'm not," he agreed, quickly cupping your face when a tear slipped from your eyes. "But hey, hey, that doesn't mean we can't still order food for you, doll."
"No, I know," you sniffled.
"So, what's making you upset, hmm?"
You buried your face in his chest with a shaky breath as you said,
"I don't want to eat alone."
Bucky paused, pressing his lips and swallowing down a laugh because he couldn't have you thinking he was making fun of you. He wasn't. But you were so adorable it made his chest ache.
"Okay, okay," he hummed, kissing the side of your head as he rubbed your back in comfort. "I'll order something for me, too."
•••
A few minutes later, your little family migrated to the living room. You both were sitting on the couch together, the two furballs sprawled at your feet as a random show played on TV. Various take-out bags covered the coffee table, way too many for two people but hey, that's what fridges and microwaves are for.
Fondness filled Bucky's bones as he watched you settle your food on your lap, doing what he called your Cravings Satisfied Wiggle.
He couldn't contain his chuckle.
You looked at him with furrowed brows, words a little muffled with your mouth full. "What?"
"Happy?" he asked, reaching over to wipe the sauce on the corner of your mouth.
"Very much," you giggled, eyes wrinkling at the corners.
Even after all these years, the sight of your pure joy still made his heart stutter, chest growing warmer when you leaned closer with a pout.
Bucky met you halfway for a short yet sweet kiss.
"Thank you," you hummed, even though there was no need for you to thank him for ordering you food.
"You're welcome, sweetheart."
Reaching over the table, he took the one and only paper bag that was for him, because again, he wasn't that hungry.
"Oh."
"What's wrong?" You turned to him in concern.
"It's not a big deal," he reassured with a smile, shrugging because it really wasn't. "They got mine wrong."
You frowned. "You didn't get the nuggets?"
"No, they give me the burger meal," he said. "They must've misheard me.
Bucky immediately perked up when your lips started to tremble.
"Hey, hey, what's wrong?" he asked worriedly, cupping your face to wipe away your tears.
"You—" you sniffled. "You didn't get your nuggets."
Bucky pressed his lips to stop a smile.
God you were so fucking cute.
"It's okay, baby," he soothed. "I'm fine with a burger, too."
You cried even harder.
Snow and Alpine quickly stood, all alert and concerned as they nudged your leg.
"You wanted the nuggets, Bucky," you insisted, choking back a sob. "But you didn't get it."
He carefully pulled you closer, rubbing your back in comfort as you laid your head on his shoulder. "I know, but it's okay—"
"No, it's not!" you protested, all teary and frustrated, pulling away to glare at him. "You deserve to get what you want. Y-You deserve all the good things after e-everything."
Bucky might honestly start crying too with how sweet you were being.
"Oh doll, come here," he placated, pulling you in for a hug while trying to navigate the food on your lap.
He could take it away for safety, but he'd already learned his lesson the hard way. Taking food away from a pregnant woman was a death sentence.
"I want you to be happy," you sniffled, burying your face against his neck. "You wanted the nuggets and they disrespected that."
It took so much for him not to let out a chuckle. Because as much as Bucky hated to see you crying and upset, he couldn't deny how adorably funny this whole conversation was.
But you'd always had the biggest heart. Whether that was crying over those rescue animal videos, emotional scenes in movies, to feeling upset over something he was experiencing—your empathy was always high.
What more with the pregnancy hormones in the mix?
"How about I ask them to change it?"
Again, wrong thing to say.
He needed to get better at this.
"But they're probably so stressed and overworked already," you sobbed. "A-And it's about to rain. I don't want the delivery guy to get wet in the rain. T-They already don't get paid enough."
"Hey, hey, it's okay," he hummed, rubbing your back. "Will you look at me, my love?"
You lifted your head then, Bucky's heart aching at the absolute distress on your features—pout in full play, eyes a little bloodshot with tear stains on your skin.
He cupped your cheeks with a soft smile, placing gentle kisses all over your face, unrelenting until you let out a whine of protest. He stopped then, thankful to see that you'd calmed down now.
"I promise you, the burger meal is perfectly fine with me. I'm not mad or upset about it. I don't mind it at all," he said.
You took a calming deep breath and nodded. It only took a second for you to look at him sheepishly.
"Sorry I overreacted," you whispered, embarrassed.
"Hey, none of that," he lightly scolded. "All the emotions you're feeling will always be valid."
You smiled, small yet sweet, leaning in and kissing him with as much gratitude as you could muster.
"Besides, it makes me feel so honored to know that you're willing to fight for my chicken nugget rights."
"Shut up, Barnes."
•••
You and Bucky always had a nightly routine and it usually consisted of the two of you getting ready for bed in your own different ways. They were intertwined, but not exactly the same. Like you'd be doing some skin care in the bathroom while he would be brushing his teeth.
But ever since you got pregnant, your routine became more in sync.
It usually started with a bath that he'd run for you. Most of the time he'd end up joining you, the length of said bath varying since that usually depended on what mood you were in. Bucky was always at the service of meeting his wife's needs, after all.
Recently, now that your bump wasn't particularly easy to navigate, he'd helped you get ready for bed. From getting dressed to your skin care, including rubbing some moisturizer on your stomach. That part was one of his favorite things to do.
Then it was the typical things, getting dressed, brushing your teeth—this one you stopped him from doing it for you even though he was more than willing—and overall just getting ready for bed.
Once you’d settled on the pregnancy pillow that Bucky fluffed up for you, he'd sit near the foot of the bed to give your sore feet a massage while you read a book.
Tonight, right when he was in the middle of doing that, he heard you sniffle.
Bucky looked up in concern, catching you already staring at him with tears already in your eyes.
"What's wrong?" he asked, looking you over. "Does something hurt?"
"No, I-I'm okay. I just—" You cut yourself off with a sob.
Bucky quickly moved beside you, pulling you onto his lap as he wrapped his arms around your form. You buried your face into the crook of his neck, body shaking as you cried.
"Hey, hey, talk to me," he murmured against your hair. "Tell me what's wrong."
"It's just—" You let out a shaky breath. "You're always taking care of me."
"Of course, sweetheart, you're my wife," he said. "And not only because it's my duty as your husband, but because I love you so much."
That made you cry even harder.
"I l-love you too, so much," you sobbed. "But I haven't been able to take care of you lately and that's not f-fair."
Bucky felt his heart grow as if it wasn't already bursting at the seams.
How could someone be so selfless and sweet?
"You're pregnant, my love," he stated the obvious reason as to why. "Besides, I'm capable of taking care of myself. It's alright."
"No, it's not," you argued, pulling away slightly to face him. "You deserve to be taken care of, too! You deserve to get pampered a-and a break but you're always fussing over me and taking care of me instead. I'm not helping with any of it. I'm just making it harder for you."
"No, absolutely not," he stated firmly, holding your face in his hands, wiping your tears away with his thumbs. "I love taking care of you. It honestly makes me feel so fulfilled and happy when I do."
"Really?" you sniffled.
"Yes. It's the least I could do with everything that you've been going through right now," he said truthfully, adding with a chuckle, "Hell, if I could carry our baby so you wouldn't have to go through all the pain I would."
That earned him a small laugh.
"But I want to take care of you, too," you admitted after a deep breath.
"You already are," he hummed, thumb stroking your cheek lovingly. "You're taking care of our baby and my heart, and those are very important to me."
You scrunched up your nose adorably.
"That was so cheesy."
"But it's true, though."
You smiled, cupping his face. Bucky turned his head to kiss your palm.
"Thank you," you sighed fondly. "For putting up with me and for everything."
"First off, I'm not putting up with anything," he reassured, kissing your other palm before adding, "Second, you never have to thank me for taking care of you. Never."
You nodded, leaning closer to press your lips against his, pouring all your love and gratitude into it. Bucky kissed you back with the same fervor, never needing words to express what you truly feel for each other.
He felt so content—feeling your lips, your fingers tangled in his hair, and your little peanut asking for attention too, kicking the second Bucky rested hand on your bump.
When you let out a soft, needy whine, he was ready to take the kiss even further.
That was until a wet tongue met his cheek.
Bucky groaned in annoyance, pulling away to see Snow giving you a kiss, too. He couldn't be angry at the dog for ruining the moment when your lovely laugh echoed in the air. Alpine jumped on the bed a second later, nudging her head against Bucky's chin before walking over to place a loving paw on your bump.
His smile was as bright as it could be as he watched the scene before him.
A wonderful home, a wholesome family that involved his beautiful, loving wife and two furballs, his family that was only getting bigger in a few months—
Yeah.
Bucky Barnes was one lucky man.

Could you do a fic with lessi where the reader is pregnant and they find out during the delivery that they having twins. Maybe some angst during the delivery like r blaming Alessia. And them not being able to tell the twins apart and lessi keeps getting them confused. You could include like team interactions with the twins and them making fun of alessia for not being able to tell them apart. 🙏
Twins || Alessia Russo
Warning pregnancy, giving birth, ‘I’m such a bad mum’, fluff (lots of it)
Summary You and Alessia navigate the first few days with twins
It had been a long nine months to say the least.
The last nine months were the hardest nine months of your life.
Being pregnant came with its highs and its lows.
One of the biggest highs, was that you and lessi were finally starting a family. Something that you had both dreamed of since you were seventeen.
However, after going through the long process of IVF and it working, you entered the first trimester and the morning sickness kicked in, the constant tiredness started, the hot flushes occurred.
But the thought of your baby on the way, and Alessia being there every step of the way, made it so much easier for you.
Although, as soon as you entered the later months of your pregnancy, and the kicking started, you had immediately told your wife that you were never going to be pregnant again.
Every minute of every night and day, it was non stop kicking.
You blamed it on Alessia. After all, the baby had her genes, and she was the footballer.
And so when your water broke on a cold December night, you couldn’t have been happier.
You were going to meet your baby, and you weren’t going to be pregnant anymore.
After Alessia running round making sure you had packed everything, you finally made it to the hospital.
As you laid in the hospital bed, Less sat to your right, your breath hitching every time a contraction hit.
Alessia was so good though, constantly whispering how well you were doing and how she was so thankful that you were going through this so you could extend your family.
The midwife came in to check how dilated you were but when she noticed the sudden increase of the baby’s heart rate, she brought the scan machine in to check the little one via a scan.
Alessia took a hold of your hand, treasuring this last scan before you saw your baby face to face.
“I can’t wait to meet our baby.” You told less as the picture appeared on the small screen.
You turned back to face it and noticed the midwife’s eye widen in shock and confusion.
“What? Is everything okay?” Alessia asked, also noticing her change in emotion.
“You do realise there’s two?” She asked back, waiting for an answer.
You just stared at Alessia, not knowing what to do.
“Two what?” Alessia questioned, the realisation not settling in.
“Two babies. You’re having twins.” The midwife explained and you swear you could’ve fainted in that moment.
“No, that can’t be right. We’ve been told throughout the whole pregnancy that it’s only one baby.” Alessia said to the midwife but the midwife pointed to the screen, two babies clearly visible.
“Twin B has been hiding at the back all along.” She pointed out, and you freaked out, worry and dread filling your body, tears spilling out of your eyes.
“Hey, baby, it’s okay. We’re gonna have two babies. Double the amount of love. It’s gonna be hectic but it’s another baby that we get to love.” Alessia said, claiming you down as she enveloped you into a gentle hug. “You’re gonna be such a good mama, you know that, right? You already are.”
“Now due to us only founding out it’s twin now, you will still have to go ahead with a natural birth, however, well give you extra drugs and pain medication to lower the pain.” She explained and you nodded your head, dread filling your mind once again at the thought of pushing two babies out of you.
The midwife left the room, leaving you and less to have to some privacy as you discussed the unexpected twist.
She returned again to actually check how dilated you were, and it turned out that you were eight centimetres dilated so it was only about an hour left.
“Baby, do you think you could get some sleep for me?” Alessia asked, purely thinking of you and how tired you must be feeling.
“Cuddle.” You murmured, your eyes already drooping as Alessia laid down in the bed next to you, her hands instinctively landing on your bump.
As soon as your head landed on her shoulder, you were gone.
Once you had awoken, you felt a build up of pressure in your lower abdomen, which could only mean one thing. It was time.
You told Alessia and she went and grabbed the midwife.
“You ready?” She asked once she had gotten you into position. You nodded back in response, sending a weary nod.
————————
“This is all your fault, Alessia.” You told her through gritted teeth.
Alessia didn’t even deny it. She couldn’t.
You had carried her two babies, and were now delivering them into the world, the least she could do was let your anger out on her.
“Keep going. Keep going. Good job. The heads out now.” The midwife told you, and you let out a sigh of relief, knowing that your first baby was nearly here.
“You’re doing so well, baby. One more push and one of our babies will be here.” Alessia encouraged you, stroking the loose hairs out of your face.
Your face scrunched up, the pain taking over your body, but left as soon as newborn cries filled the room.
“Mum, would you like to come and cut the cord?” The midwife asked Alessia, who nodded straight away.
“A girl, Y/N. We’ve got a baby girl.” Alessia’s voice cracked as she set eyes on your baby girl. “She’s perfect, baby.”
The doctors and nurses took her to be checked over, and Alessia found her spot next to you.
“I have to do it all again because of you.” You told Alessia, rolling your eyes at her.
“I know, love, but it’ll all be over soon and we’ll have two babies.” Alessia pressed a kiss to your sweaty forehead as you began pushing once again.
“Fuck, less, I hate you right now.” You managed to get out.
All Alessia could do was smile at you.
She couldn’t have been more in love with you than in that moment.
She was so amazed that you had not only carried two babies but had also gone through the agonising process of delivering them.
With one final push, an identical cry filled the room.
“They’re here, love. Both of them are here.” Alessia cried, kissing your temple, before walking over to cut the cord of Twin B. “Another girl, twin girls.”
“Girls?” You asked, exhausted from giving birth.
“Two baby girls.” Alessia confirmed as the nurses wrapped them in blankets.
“Both of them are perfect. Two sets of ten fingers and ten toes.” The midwife smiled at you as both girls were placed on your chest.
“They’re perfect, lessi.” You sobbed, as you looked down at your baby girls.
Tears ran down yours and Alessia’s faces as you stared in awe at the tiny humans you had both created.
————————
“I can’t wait for the team to meet them. They’re gonna be so shocked when they see both Ava and Mila.” Alessia said as she put both girls in their car seats, pressing light kisses to their noses which scrunched up in reaction.
“They still have no idea?” You asked, resting a hand on Alessia’s back as she crouched down buckling Mila’s car seat.
“No idea at all. I haven’t even told Ella.” Alessia told you, leaning back up picking up a car seat. “I’ve got Mila, no Ava, wait, no I’ve got Mila.”
“Lessi, you’ve got Ava.” You corrected her as less’ face was covered in confusion.
“I’m such a bad mummy. I can’t even get their names right.” Less buried her head in your neck as you brought her in for a hug.
“Love, you’re not. Don’t ever think you are. It’s confusing. I get it wrong too sometimes. They’re identical twins and they’re babies. You know, your mum suggested we write their initials on their hands. We’ll do that when we get to camp.” You told her and she nodded, agreeing with the idea. “Come on then, baby. Let’s get you to England camp.”
————————
After stopping at three services to breastfeed, you eventually made it to St George’s Park.
At first, Alessia had turned down the offer to be at camp for the week purely to be with you and your girls, especially since they weren’t even a week old yet.
But when you found out, you weren’t having it.
She loved her time at England camp and so you compromised and offered to go with.
Alessia spoke to Sarina and Sarina said it was a pleasure for you and the baby, babies, to be there.
On the way there, you and Less had planned it that you would wait outside with one of the twins whilst Alessia walked in with the other.
Hopefully, the team would see Alessia, gathering round to see the newest member of your family.
Then, you would walk in and the plot twist would be revealed.
And that’s exactly how it went.
Alessia walked in, Tooney spotting her first, immediately gathering round to meet her newest niece.
Less set the car seat down and the girls gathered round, staring in awe at the newborn baby fast asleep in a milk coma.
Alessia couldn’t help but shed a tear at the sight of all her best friends connecting with her baby girl.
“What’s her name?” Lucy asked, looking down at the baby.
“So we had two names in mind that we loved throughout the whole pregnancy. We loved them so much that we couldn’t decide between them.” Alessia began as you quietly entered the room with Mila.
“Which turned out really well because we actually got to use both names.” You continued, the team still looking at Ava, unaware of Mila who was in the other car seat.
“It turned out well because unaware to us, we weren’t just having one baby girl.” Alessia said and the team sent her a weird look.
“Instead, we had two.” You spoke up again. This time, the girls looked up at you and gasped once they saw the second car seat.
“Oh my god. Twins?” One of the girls questioned as they all ran towards you, turning silent, scared to speak or make a sound.
You looked up at Alessia who had a massive smile on her face.
“You knew you were having twins and didn’t tell me?” Ella asked you and Alessia and you laughed, knowing the answer was going to sound crazy.
“We didn’t know we were having twins. We only found out an hour before I gave birth.” You told her and Alessia explained the rest of the story.
The team gathered round in the relaxation room, taking it in turns holding the girls.
“So, what are their names?” Lucy piped up again, realising that you never told them in the end.
“The one Kiera’s got is Mila and Niamh’s got Ava. Wait, no, other way round. Actually, what?” Alessia questioned herself, embarrassed that she cousins even name her own babies. “Yes, Kiera’s got Mila and Niamh’s got Ava.”
“Baby, other way round.” You told her and Alessia face palmed herself, sighing in annoyance.
“Awe, can your mummy not tell you apart?” Niamh cooed at Mila, winding Less up.
“Niamh.” You warned, seeing Alessia get worked up. “Baby? Can I talk to you outside?” You asked her, taking her hands in yours as you led her outside.
As soon as you shut the door, Alessia started sobbing.
“That’s like the eighth time I’ve done it. I feel so bad that I can’t even get their names right. I’m such a bad mum.” Alessia shared with you, in between sobs.
“Hey, hey, calm down, baby. It’s okay. They’re only five days old, we haven’t had time to get to know them yet. That’s the hard bit about having twins. As they get older, they’ll have their differences. It’s just because they’re still young.” You told her as you continued to hug her.
You broke apart from the hug and pressed your lips on hers.
As you did, a small cry was heard from within the relaxation room.
“That’s Ava, you go sit down and I’ll grab her.” Alessia told you and you smiled at her.
“How do you know it’s Ava?” You asked her, confused as you weren’t in the room to know.
“Her cry is higher pitched compared to Mila’s.” Alessia explained to you and you simple smiled at her, knowing she had proved herself wrong.
“See, you knew that was Ava. I didn’t know that was Ava. At a guess, I would have said it was Mila.” You said, rubbing your hand up and down Alessia’s arm.
“Thank you, Y/N. Thank you for always being there for me, thank you for giving me our two girls, thank you for everything.” Alessia stated, kissing your lips.
“Thank you, lessi.”
“Guys, stop kissing and come and get your daughter!” You heard Mary shout and you laughed before going back into the room.
“Come on, Ava.” Alessia cooed, picking her up and resting her in her arms. The baby girl immediately calming down by her mummy’s touch.
“Babe, that’s Mila.” You said and Alessia face dropped. She was so confident and 99% sure that it was Ava. “I’m joking, love. Sorry, I just had to do it.”
“I hate you right now.” Alessia mumbled, not wanting to wake up Ava.
“Hmm, that sounds familiar but at least we’re even now.”

he’ll never forget the day you told him you were pregnant. it was something he had considered impossible, to the point he never bothered wearing a condom or cumming anywhere but inside you. seeing you pregnant only made sure those things wouldn’t change. you were already so perfect to him that it was almost unnerving, even all these years of marriage in. he fell in love with you the moment he met you back in shibuya, but somehow you had become even more beautiful to him.
he was obsessed, almost to the point of embarrassment, if choso understood the concept in regards to his love for his wife. but he wasn’t shy about being yours. it was all so new to him, the idea of fatherhood, viewing you as a mother, watching you change before his very eyes and all the long doctors appointments. he loves it though, oddly enough. especially the notion of being a dad and watching your body and mindset shift and grow.
choso can tend to be clueless due to his rather unconventional navigation of life, but ever since he learned how to work a cell phone, the internet has been his very best friend. unfortunately, yuji can give some very…troublesome advice. choso thinks it’s a miracle he’s still alive at times. so google can help in ways his earnest younger brother cannot, giving him multiple opinions and sources on what to do and how to do it. he spends hours of his time researching how to care for you; wanting to know if it was normal to be this attracted to you while you were all moody and pouty with just the start of roundness at the bottom of your belly—the jury was still out on that one, by the way.
one thing that was normal was your increased need for him, not like he was complaining. he loved this side effect the most, able to satiate his perverse desire to keep stuffing his already pregnant wife full, relishing in how eager and frankly nasty you had gotten. you were damn near insatiable, and choso thought he was in heaven for it. all through your first and second trimesters, you couldn’t get enough of him—and the feeling was mutual. as you grew larger and the house became cluttered with baby shower gifts and preparations for baby kamo, he continued to clock hours towards his family. he read article after article on parenting, actively assembling the nursery and searching up names with you. he was beyond joyful, still unable to believe that you were growing his son or daughter within that gorgeous body of yours, your breasts had started to swell and your hips had begun to spread. he loved every second of this: your neediness, everything about how you look while making him a father, and the way his friends circled around him and became such a supportive family.
his thoughts bordered on crazy, a haunting desire to keep you like this all the time, lounging around the house in your pretty maternity dresses doing nothing but being waited on hand and foot; relaxing while stroking your swelling stomach. it’s what suited you best, he thinks—stretched out along the couch basking in the rays of the sun beating in through the living room window, snacking on a fruit board he made you and baby. he’s nearly foaming at the mouth, your long robe-style dress clinging to all the delicious curves of your body; the light cotton seemed to outline your heavy boobs, tight around your semi-hardened nipples. it hugged your six-and-a-half-month sized bump, your other hand resting there protectively. choso was stuck in the moment, trying to commit every detail of you to memory. he almost didn’t hear your chortle of disbelief.
“you said what, now, babe?” you whip your head towards him, heart fluttering violently at what he uttered— you needed him to say it again. it was easy to grow addicted to your husband, building his spawn had you needier than ever. even the smell of him had you going absolutely feral level insane even though this pregnancy had been the highlight of your life so far. you thought your clinginess and desire was driving him to his own insanity, figuring he must hate tending to you and your attitude as of late. you must have just heard him incorrectly.
“huh?” he blinked, violet eyes refocusing on your plush lips speaking to him. “what did i say?” he asks, just as confused as you are. his cheeks darken anyways, as if you caught him doing something naughty, which only makes you believe your ears were in fact not deceiving you.
“you said you should keep me like this all time.” you chuckle, full on tilting your head towards him from your spot on the sofa. he averts his gaze as soon as you meet him, and you let out a teasing fake gasp. “my husband wants to keep me barefoot and pregnant, huh? you know that’s pretty outdated…”
he shakes his head, embarrassed immediately. great, now you thought he was some sick perv, which isn’t completely off base, he guessed, but still! it wasn’t like that, he didn’t view you like some machine built only to churn out his kids and cook him dinner!
“n-no! i mean—you look great like this, b—”
“i’m just fucking around, love. i thought it was sexy.” you grin, throwing a wink his way. he clicks his tongue at you and huffs at the teasing, even though he’s definitely intrigued by the latter half of your sentence. you arch your brow, waiting for him to ask for clarification. you could see him fighting it in his head before your very eyes. the scrunch of his nose tells you that you’ve won.
“yeah? what’s that supposed to mean?” he says from his spot in the recliner nearby, always opting to be close to you. you smile knowingly at him, humming in thought mostly for the dramatics.
“mayhaps i enjoy the idea of you keeping me pregnant…especially if i get spoiled like this every time.” you giggle, shrugging a little bit. “maybe i’ll feel differently after i actually have this one.” you pat your tummy affectionately, and he thinks he may be drooling. you always play so coy, but he can see the way you rub your thighs together and the clouds that darken in your sunshiney eyes. he may be regularly clueless, but the one thing he knows all too well is your body.
“hm, i think it’s because you’re a sex-crazed maniac now and know pregnancy gets you off the hook.” he deadpans, though his heart is beating rapidly in his chest and in his cock. you call his bluff, rolling your eyes viciously.
“isn’t that the pot calling the kettle black.” you huff, spreading your legs out on the couch in a silent command. he smirks, not at all caring that you caught him. he nods a bit, holding his hands up.
“got me. i just didn’t know how much i would love this.” he says, the husk in his voice sends a shiver down your spine. your thighs press together when he obeys your body language, rising from his seat and making his way to the couch. he sits at your feet of course, smiling so sweetly. his warm hands gently pry your knees apart, and you wonder if he knows just how seductive the look he gives you is. his chin is angled down, hooded purple eyes singing a siren song that makes your legs fall apart again and your fingers pull at the tie keeping your dress together. he growls at the sight of your exposed body, his hands rubbing trails from your knees to your hips and down your thighs again. “you’re so perfect…can you blame me?”
you roll your eyes but wear a stupid grin at his praise, shaking your head to his question. you knew better than to be insecure over your changing body, especially with all the extra attention it’s garnered you. truth be told, you had never felt more beautiful, the life growing inside you breathing new life into your own appearance, and your husband never missed an opportunity to make you feel like a goddess amongst mortals. he would never dream of making you uncomfortable or asking you to accommodate him, so he folds himself into the space he has so that his face hovers above your shiny middle. his breath alone makes you moan, a hand flying up to cover your embarrassment. you always react like you’ve never been touched before and choso loves it almost as much as the sight of your round stomach and even rounder mounds above. he brings his thumb over you, wanting to watch you as he draws slow circles over your hardened clit. he hums, a little smile on his face as you jerk and squirm. your hips buck into his mouth instantly with cute whines slipping past your lips as your hands struggle to reach for his collarbone length black hair. he leans up a bit to help you, just the feeling of his rough thumb pad against your need turned you into a mess within seconds.
“nngh–oh choso, feels so–mmph good already.” you gasp, hands dropping to fondle your aching breasts. he nods and sits up to spit a warm and fat glob on your cunt, his thick thumb dragging it all over your spasming need. the lewdness of his action coupled with the nonchalant way he watches, tongue poking around your hole like nothing ever happened, has your brain spinning without much effort. your hips drive into the relief he offers, chasing your orgasm like you’d never before experienced one—despite the clear proof otherwise. he allows it, never in his life would he keep you from feeling good. he’s honored to be the one who causes those pretty sounds to fill the room, to be the father of the child making your beauty so ethereal, to be the man tongue deep in your perfect pussy. “gonna–ohhhh–”
your sweet release coats his tongue, his thumb still working you down slowly so he could relish in the face you make from sheer pleasure. he sits back up, a little more comfortable on his knees as he leans over you to give you a sloppy kiss filled with your own essence. he’s had to be much more careful since you’re getting bigger, but he doesn’t mind making sweet love to his beautiful baby mama. you wrap your arms around his neck, keeping his mouth against you while his hands are busy freeing himself from his sweatpants. you gasp into his mouth when you feel his length parting your folds and prodding at your hole. he only nibbles at your lip to tell you that he’ll be gentle, sheathing himself within your wet warmth slowly. you tense around him and relax, sighing happily at the feeling of him rocking into you at a tender pace. he moves his kisses to the sides of your cheeks, your jaw, picking up his speed until he has to sit back up properly to angle himself right.
“more, you’re not gonna break me daddy.” you pant, hand braced on the ridges of his defined abs. he sighs begrudgingly, only because he’d been repressing the same urge ever since you welcomed him inside. he relents, lifting one of your legs to rest against his hip before driving into you a bit harder. you moan wildly and nod, nearly screaming. “god—just like that.”
“anything for you mama, s’cute you need it hard, such a good girl letting me get a little rough.” he grunts, squeezing the hold he has on your thigh. you feel so different, still so tight and warm but with a different kind of wetness. he’s a mess too, championing himself with that nickname you bestowed upon him. his strokes are so well-timed, letting you feel every drag of his cock against you, the tip of him nailing the spot you need him most. “so perfect. you gonna let me keep this pretty hole bred?”
you nod, the words sending you close to your tipping point. you shake your head, too gone to speak to let him know that you were going to cum. you don’t have to tell him though, he can tell from the intense fluttering of your sloppy cunt, and he’s happy to have lasted this long trapped in your clutches. you’re slapping at his stomach, legs shaking around him as you scream again, the sound so primal it sends goosebumps prickling along his skin right before he’s stuffing you full as if you weren’t already carrying his seed. you squeeze down on him, making sure he empties his balls in you. he stays there until he goes soft, and then he slumps against the side of the couch. your giggles make him perk up, his violet eyes cutting over to see you crawling towards him with a mischievous glint to your eyes. he knows he’s right when you swing your leg over his lap, angling him back inside you.
“don’t worry—just wanna sit on it.” you titter, wrapping your arms around his neck again, pressing your body as close as you could for a hug. he twitches from sensitivity as you lower yourself back over him, but a smile spreads across his face all the same.
“how many kids can i give you, mama?” he groans in your ear as his arms tighten around your waist securely.

How would jjk men react to reader being pregnant with quadruplets?
Feat. Gojo, Yuta, Inumaki, Nanami, Megumi, Itadori (all characters are aged up)
Note: I did headcanons for this request because there were so many characters I wanted to include, and it would get a little boring to write the same scenario out in a full fledged fic like seven times. However, if there are one or two that you want me to turn into proper fics lmk!! I had to do research on pregnancy for this bc it's been awhile since my high school health class
CW: pregnancy, implied thoughts of abortion ig, mentions of fear regarding labor, AFAB reader bc, yk, pregnancy, one singular swear word
Word Count: 1.2k

Tumblr media
Gojo
I feel like Gojo would think you were joking at first, and wouldn’t believe you until you got frustrated and he finally realized you were being for real. He would have mixed emotions. On one hand, he was excited to have a big family and a house full of laughter and love. On the other hand, he was afraid, because more babies meant more defenseless mini-people for him to protect.
He had only known that he was going to be a father of quadruplets a few minutes ago, but he already knew that it would destroy him if he ever lost one of them. That he would gladly give his life for them. And then there was the matter of you. He already knew that childbirth was difficult for women, but quadruplets?? Childbirth was something that even he couldn’t protect you from and that terrified him.
After a serious discussion in which he made sure you were okay with the added risks and you continuously reassured him that this was what you wanted, he settled down and began imagining a future for your family. Until he realized that he would have to share your love with four little gremlins who would surely take after their clingy father. Then it suddenly seemed less appealing.
Tumblr media
Yuta
Baby boy would be shooketh. Because he’s sorry please don’t be mad at him and oh you’re not mad at him and the two of you are having quadruplets well technically you are but he’s the dad and oh god what if he’s not good at being a dad and-
You would have to calm him down as he fell into a downward spiral. Once you had properly reassured him, and he had fully absorbed the information he was ecstatic. He has always wanted a big family, and together the two of you were making that dream come true. Cuddling up to you he would thank you for loving him and gifting him with the many kids he had always dreamed of having.
He for sure would be the type to rub your stomach and whisper sweet nothings to the growing babies in your womb, telling them how much daddy loves them and how excited he is to meet them.
He would also start baby-proofing every square inch of your house before you had even started your second trimester.
Tumblr media
Inumaki
He would be in shock. Because he put- wait how many??? babies in you. There was no way he heard you right. There was no way that you were pregnant with quadruplets. Because, wait, he didn't sign up for this! Yeah, he wanted tons of kids, but four babies at a time was a lot. And the strain it would have on your body was concerning as well.
After he stopped opening and closing his mouth as he gaped at you, he managed to organize his thoughts. First he wanted to make sure you even wanted that many kids because, well, it wouldn’t be easy to give birth to or take care of that many. Once you had reassured him that you were, in fact, sure that you wanted to go through with the pregnancy and that you were prepared for whatever the future held for your not-so-little family he took a moment to process his own emotions.
At first he was conflicted. Sure he was excited, but he held his own private reservations. What if something went wrong during labor? What if he wasn’t cut out to be the parent of one kid, let alone four. But as the months sped by and your stomach grew, the anticipation grew, until one day he let go of any and all trepidation and allowed himself to be optimistic.
He also bought tons of matching onesies for the whole family.
Tumblr media
Nanami
Ever the responsible adult and caring husband, first he sat you down and had a serious discussion about the pros and cons of having quadruplets, and whether or not the risks were worth it. Deep down he was thrilled, but he wanted to make sure the two of you were on the same page and understood what continuing meant.
Once the two of you had established you were going to see this through, and it was something the two of you wanted his planning would begin. First came the research. He thoroughly educated himself on everything regarding pregnancy, learning everything he needed to do to ensure your comfort and the healthy birth of his children.
Expect a special diet plan that fulfills the needs of you and your unborn children in the healthiest way possible, essential oil massages, weekly check-ups starting your second trimester, vitamin gummies and more.
He also would begin saving up because raising four children would be expensive. Would for sure have a whole financial plan set up and college savings accounts set up for each of his children within a week of his learning.
Tumblr media
Megumi
Honestly, he wouldn’t have super strong feelings about it. He wanted to be a dad, but he didn’t care if it was one, four, or one hundred. He just wanted to have kids with you, and beyond that as long as you were happy he was too.
So when you told him, his only response was asking you what you thought about it. When you told him you were excited, he was excited too. He had wanted to build his own family for as long as he could remember, and you were helping him reach his dream. What more could he ask for? The only other thing that mattered to him was that his children had siblings. As a kid he had resented Tsumiki, but as an adult he couldn’t imagine the loneliness he would have experienced growing up without her. So yeah. If you were happy, and his children would have siblings so they would never have to walk through life alone, he was content.
There was nothing more he wanted in life than your love and a family with you.
Tumblr media
Itadori
Kids!!! He had wanted a ton of kids, so this was perfect! You were happy with it, so even better! He sees it as a four-in-one deal, and is over the moon. His golden retriever personality becomes even worse when you’re pregnant. Like, this man is at your side 24/7.
Constantly following you around, looking at you with big pleading eyes as he begs to cuddle in bed with you so he can talk to your stomach.
Oh my god talking to your stomach. This man would talk to your stomach more than he talks to you. Asking what your kids want to be named. Telling your unborn babies about his day. That he loves them and can’t wait to meet them. Describes all the fun things the six of you are going to do once they’re born. Definitely tries cuddling your stomach because he ‘wants to know what it feels like to hold his children.’
Also is a little shit that constantly asks ‘are they coming yet? Why not??’

First Trimester
“Wait, wait, wait,” Damian interrupted, rubbing his forehead. “So you’re saying … you’re saying I can’t tell my parents we’re having a baby for another month?”
“I’m not saying you can’t,” his girlfriend replied. The two of them sat on the very couch she’d told him she was pregnant on, facing each other. “I’m saying it’s something we do in my culture. It’s a practice that’s been passed down for—”
“It’s a superstition,” Damian remarked.
She rolled her eyes. “Fine, whatever, it’s a superstition. All I’m asking is that you please respect that. And I really don’t think I’m asking too much. It’s one month.” Damian sighed, gazing softly at her, and really, she’d known he would cave the whole time, but she had to let him get his argument in.
“Alright,” he conceded, “but, hey.” He pointed at her. “Thirteen weeks and a day, and I’m callin’ my mom.”
She giggled. “Of course.”
“And I’m not letting her yell at me the whole time either.”
She gasped, hand on her chest. “You would honestly make your pregnant girlfriend—” Damian tilted his head, eyes wide. “Okay, fine. Crybaby.”
Now he was offended, and he lunged at her suddenly. Even for his giant frame, he was somehow still so gentle and careful with her as he laid her back on the cushions. He kissed her lips, her cheeks, eyes, and all she could do was smile. She might have even purred. Damian moved down her body, avoiding her breasts after her complaint that her nipples were too sensitive to even be looked at, lifting up her shirt when he came to her belly. He kissed her cocoa skin before laying his head down. She brushed her fingers through his soft hair.
“I’m just excited about Damian Junior,” he mumbled against her belly button.
“I am not naming my child Damian Junior,” his girlfriend replied.
“Yeah, well, we can talk about it.”
“The hell we will,” she uttered to herself. And to Damian she said, “I probably shouldn’t even ask, but if it’s a girl—”
“Damina.”
“Oh, lord.”
“Junior.”
“Okay, get off me.”
💜💜💜
Second Trimester
The party was a little more complex and involved than she’d wanted, but who was she to deny Damian a wrestling-themed gender reveal? Their backyard was beautiful grass, followed by soft sand, and finally, the warm, salty ocean. Usually. Today there was an almost-regulation size wrestling ring surrounded by comfortable chairs, which is where everyone was gathered as Rhea Ripley made her entrance. Her gear was a lot less risqué and a hell of a lot more pink, and she represented a baby girl. Dominik Mysterio was next, greeted by boos simply because of who he was, dressed in blue, representing a baby boy.
Damian and his girlfriend sat in the front row, Damian with his arm around her shoulders, as they watched the match. Rhea and Dom went back and forth for a short while, entertaining the crowd, before it was time for the big reveal. They performed an intricate sequence, which ended in Rhea successfully executing a Riptide, and after a three-count, she was declared the winner, and the baby revealed to be a girl. Damian and his girlfriend turned to each other, both smiling wildly as they hugged one another. She couldn’t help but boast that she’d known all along, Damian rolling his eyes, mumbling for her to take it easy.
The following week on Raw, Damian’s girlfriend watching on television from their home as a surprising bout of morning sickness had prevented her from traveling with him, Damian made his normal entrance. But at the end, he turned his back to the camera that was zooming in, and on the back of the leather jacket he wore were the words girl dad. When again he faced the camera, he winked at the lens, and his girlfriend, now a sobbing mess on the couch, knew it was for her.
💜💜💜
Third Trimester
Damian set his phone on the counter, making sure his girlfriend was in the frame as she was washing dishes before he pressed record. He approached her from behind, brushing her braids from her shoulder so he could pepper butterfly kisses along the crook of her neck. His big hands slid under her swollen belly and he lifted, relieving the pressure on her back, and her hands fell into the soapy water as she all but collapsed against him. Damian chuckled.
“Oh, wow,” his girlfriend moaned.
“How’s that feel?” Damian asked, though the answer was obvious.
“You know you’re gonna have to stay like this until I push this baby out, right?” she replied, hardly kidding.
“Absolutely,” Damian replied. “I would do anything for the ladies in my life.” Their daughter chose that moment to kick against his hand a few times, and his embrace tightened around them both. “She must’ve heard me.”
“She always kicks when you’re close.”
💜💜💜
Damian officially announced the birth of their daughter on Instagram three months after her birth, though the WWE community’s speculation was always on point. The photo was only of the baby’s tiny feet, his thumb and his girlfriend’s thumb also in the frame, and it received over a million likes. Their family hadn’t seen the baby either, according to another cultural superstition, which had caused a bit of an outcry on his side, but he’d stood his ground—it was important to the mother of his child, which meant it was important to him.
“She’s perfect,” Damian quietly said as the couple stood beside their daughter's crib, simply watching her sleep.
“Because she’s part you,” his girlfriend said.
Damian smiled, hugging her to him. “And part you.” A moment of silence and then, “Little Damina.”
“That is not her name!”

Request please🤗: Marshall x Reader, he's extra protective of her while she's pregnant
A/N : Hey ! I know you posted that Ask a while ago but I recently found it while sorting through them, and I wrote a little blurb. I hope you like it 💕.
Shields Up
Tumblr media
CW : Pregnancy - Mention of past miscarriage - Marshall Mathers being protective
As a public figure, you were used to rumors. You had chosen this life and you were fully aware that it came with the territory. As a content creator, your job was literally based on your ability to get people’s attention, after all. After years of hard work, you had gathered a pretty huge following and you had quickly learned that the bigger you were, the more rumors would emerge. Collaborations, alleged feuds, made-up drama and, of course, dating rumors. Nothing seemed to be off the table for the media outlets and, even though it hadn’t been easy to navigate at first, you had grown accustomed to it. In fact, most of the time, you didn’t go out of your way to confirm nor deny anything. You just focused on doing what you loved, making good content and your fans were used to you being private on some parts of your life and you were often praised for your ability to be honest, sometimes vulnerable, without giving too much away. People seemed to like the fact that you weren’t ready to commodify your privacy and your relationships for engagement and clickbait.
So, when rumors started to emerge about you dating Eminem, no one was exactly surprised that both of you stayed silent. After all, you were both known to be notoriously private, focusing on your careers and preferring that the attention remained on your work you put out. That being said, none of you got out of your way to hide the relationship either, so anyone who was looking out for subtle clues could probably find them. You followed some of his friends and family members on Instagram, were sometimes spotted to events he would perform at… It was that kind of situation of something basically being public knowledge without ever being broadcasted.
After years spend together, you were in agreement that it was better that your relationship was kept separate from your professional, public personas. Both of you were known to have a strong work ethic and, though you didn’t have any expertise in music and he didn’t understand much about content creation, you respected each other’s career too much to let your relationship overshadow anything. You knew full-well that, no matter how good you were at your jobs, some of the attention would inevitably be focused on your personal lives. Detroit being a fairly small city, it wasn’t rare for you to attend the same events as him, but you always made sure to arrive separately and not engage in PDA. At most, you’d been spotted chatting on a couple of occasions over the years, but nothing in your demeanors indicated that there was any intimacy between the two of you. Until you got pregnant, at least.
As soon as you handed him the positive pregnancy test, Marshall instantly became more protective of you. You were both overjoyed by the news. Emotional, too. Almost a year prior, you had accidentally gotten pregnant. It wasn’t planned by any means, but you both agreed to keep the baby. Sadly, you ended up miscarrying a few weeks later, still in the early first trimester. Before then, you had always said you didn’t need to raise kids to feel fulfilled, and Marshall had been pretty adamant about not wanting more kids. But the event changed everything, stirring something deep within you, and it didn’t take long before you started actively trying. The miscarriage had been a tough pill to swallow, at first, but none of you really addressed it. After all, you knew it wasn’t a rare occurence, and that these things happened. But you didn’t realized how badly it had left its marks on Marshall until you got pregnant again.
He did not become overbearing of controlling - it just wasn’t him - but there was a new, unmistakable layer of attentiveness and protectiveness. It started with him making sure you were alright throughout the day, reminding you to eat, hydrate and rest, often checking in on how you were feeling. The second you expressed any discomfort, such as fatigue or nausea, he would step in, ready to do anything to make it easier for you. The thermostat would be perfectly adjusted, the fridge always stocked with your favorite snacks and he even got some of the specific teas the doctor had recommended. Of course, he absolutely refused to have you carry anything remotely heavy - not even your oversized tote - and whenever you started talking about deadlines for your projects, he reminded you that the last thing you needed was stress.
You thought he’d keep on maintaining his distance at public events - at least as long as you kept the pregnancy hidden. However, you were proven wrong when you both attended a fundraiser for some Detroit charity. As usual, he skipped the red carpet while you did the photo call but, as soon as you were done, you spotted him, waiting for you. Usually, he’d be in some corner of the room, talking to Paul or some acquaintances, but his attention was unmistakably on you. Throughout the night, he didn’t hover or smother you, but he kept closer than usual, and when you walked through the crowded room, he guided you with a hand placed on the small of your back, shielding you from jostling bodies.
« Are you alright? » you asked quietly, to which he hummed and nodded. « You don’t have to stay so close, you know, » you gently reminded him, your tone teasing and affectionate, a smile tugging at the corner of your lips. « Just looking out for you both » he murmured with a faint grin. Your heart swelled and you couldn’t help but find him adorable, so much so that it took a lot of self-control on your part not to kiss him right then and there. Instead, you simply stood there, smiling at each other. As the night event on, you were both solicited by friends and acquaintances, but you could still feel Marshall’s sharp gaze on you, scanning each and every individual that engaged with you, as if to make sure they weren’t a threat. As the night wore on, Marshall’s vigilance didn’t waver. He made sure you always had a glass of water nearby and checked in with you subtly, asking if she needed to sit or if you were getting too warm under the venue’s lights. At one point, when he noticed the press swarmed near the entrance, he positioned himself slightly in front of you, a silent barrier that made it clear you weren’t to be overwhelmed or bothered in any way. By the time you left, you were both exhausted and grateful. You expected to leave in separate cars, as you always did, but instead of sticking to the usual routine, he opened the door and helped you in. Cameras flashed, capturing the rare moment, but none of you really cared. You were simply looking forward to the perspective of heading home for some much-needed rest, and you could tell that he needed to have you close, at least for his own peace of mind.
By the next morning, the Internet was ablaze. Photos and videos from the fundraiser were everywhere, showing the two of you together in ways that left no room for ambiguity. People were notably crazy about one picture, where he could be spotted guiding you through a small crowd, one hand on your back. Twitter threads speculated wildly. « We’ve seen him with her before, but this? This is different, » one user wrote, linking to a clip of him helping her into the car. « I’m telling you, they’re not hiding it anymore. ». The speculation grew more intense with every passing hour. Was this your way of confirming the relationship? Were you going public after years of silence? Marshall, as always, ignored the noise. He spent the morning in his home studio, tinkering with beats, while you scrolled through your phone, half-amused and half-exasperated by the Internet’s obsession. You walked over, wrapping your arms around him from behind. « You know, you’re kind of bad at the whole ‘keeping a low profile’ thing lately. ». He tilted his head back, looking at you with mock indignation. « I’m just making sure you’re good. They’re the ones reading into it. » You laughed, pressing a kiss to the top of his head. « Well, for what it’s worth, I think you’re pretty amazing. »

You know three weeks after your missed period what is happening. It’s not hard to figure out. It’s just like last time. Menopause crosses your mind briefly, but the symptoms don’t line up. You’re sensitive to the same foods, nausea rolls in and out like the ocean tides throughout the day. The insatiable craving for a tomato sandwich cements it two days later. Tears run down your cheeks as you quickly finish off the sandwich and prepare another.
You don’t get excited. You don’t make plans, and most importantly, you don’t tell Joel. You’re 45. Joel is in his late 50s. You know the statistics, the pre-end-of-the-world ones. You can’t imagine they’ve improved.
Instead, you just hope that when it happens, nothing goes wrong. There’s no DNC, no pills to make sure everything passes properly or ensure no infection sets in. You’ve aided many women through this, many much younger than yourself. Some make it just fine, others have complications with nothing but prayer, poultices, and 20-year-old antibiotics to help. You’re not sure what actually does it when the women make it through. Some of them you've buried. Their faces flicker through your mind. You cannot be one of them. You cannot leave Carter without either of his parents in this world.
You tell Maria. You tell her everything she needs to know. What to do step by step when it happens. Since Adam’s injury, Dr. Pooley refuses to practice anything more than simple first aid. You’re both certain it’s dementia. You spend most mornings listening to him talk through different lectures he attended. On the mornings his brain won’t cooperate, you sip tea together. He’s writing down what he remembers, but you have to fact-check it. He’s already taught you most of it anyway.
“You have to tell Joel,” Maria says when you tell her.
You refuse. You won’t do it. You won’t bring him into this. You have this silent agreement that you’re partners in this world, but he still lives in the house across the street with Ellie. There’s never been discussions about moving in together or anything past that. You don’t call him your boyfriend. He doesn’t call you his girlfriend. Making those commitments, those plans, it will hurt too much when the world takes him away.
Carter calls him “Daddy.” It makes Joel smile every time. He’s accepted that commitment. It makes you smile too, but there’s still a little ache in your heart each time. Carter knows about Gabe. You tell him stories all the time. If you ask him, he says he has two daddies. One here and one in heaven.
But you won’t tell Joel about this child. He’s lost one. He doesn’t need to lose another.
Maria fights you on it. She looks at her son pointing out that she was 2 years older than you are now when he was born healthy. You don’t remind her she almost died, but she sees it in your eyes. You still have nightmares about that night.
You’re firm. You’re not going to tell Joel. Neither will she, and she damn sure won’t tell Tommy either.
You wait for the cramps and the blood, but they never come. You hit the 3-month mark, your 2nd trimester at the beginning of October. You don’t cry in the bathroom. You square your shoulders. Second-trimester miscarriages happen. Stillbirths happen, but hope gathers in the depths of your soul, growing with each day. You push it away with logic and reasoning.
Two sides of you war against each other. You can’t bring another life into this world. At one point you were okay with it. You felt safe here, and while you still do, it doesn’t feel okay anymore. The world still digs its ugly claws into this community. Yet, the hopes you used to hold in your mind, the ones you had with Gabe, and the ones you had before the outbreak still linger. In a perfect, uncomplicated world, this is what you would choose.
You hide the sickness from Joel with relative ease. He’s often awake and out of bed before you for patrol shifts, early morning chores, or waking up with Carter so you can sleep in.
You deliver the Crosby twins a week later without complications. Melissa is only a couple of years younger than you, but at your age, you know how crucial those few years are. When you finally reach your front porch, you sit in the darkness of Wyoming and finally let the tears fall because fate seems to be telling you that this is happening, or just sending you another person to lose. The realization hits you like a freight train. Time is up. You have to tell Joel.
You crack open the door to Carter’s bedroom. He’s sound asleep and it relieves you to know he's here. You’re less on edge when he’s close, and It means Joel picked him up from Maria and Tommy’s. It means Joel is in your bed.
Sure enough, he’s there when you creep in. He sleeps on his side curled up over your pillow. You roll your eyes. Yes, it's endearing, but it’s also a pain in the ass to get your pillow back.
The bathroom light is blinding at first, but your eyes slowly adjust as you turn on the shower and steam fills the space. Goosebumps spread across your skin as you undress, catching sight of yourself in the mirror. You’ve noticed the subtle changes in your body over these past couple of months, but they’re becoming more noticeable. Your breasts have grown, they’re so sensitive, and your sports bra pulls at the seams. Joel commented on it last week. You joked you were packing on extra weight for winter acting like it was nothing.
Your favorite pair of jeans no longer fit. You’ve mostly stuck to leggings since. You’re starting to clock the subtle changes in your body. They’re happening faster than with your last pregnancy. The past week, you’ve shut Joel down sexually, scared he would catch on despite your sex drive skyrocketing. It’s been difficult.
The shower washes away everything: the sweat and grime of the day, your tears, the tension in your muscles. You stand under the water until it runs cold, slipping on Joel’s worn soft t-shirt.
Your pillow is back on your side of the bed, Joel still on his side. A smile creeps onto your face. He keeps his eyes closed, but you know he’s awake. You don’t say anything as you slide into bed, but your anxiety spikes, your heart fluttering in your chest. You have to tell him.
You’re staring at the ceiling when he breaks the silence. “What happened?”
You suck in a breath. He thinks something went wrong tonight. He’s probably preparing to dig a grave. “Nothing, mom and babies are fine.”
“So it was twins?”
“Yeah.” You had suspected as much, but the ultrasound machine doesn’t work, try as you might to get it operational. You hadn’t been able to find a second heartbeat with the Doppler.
“So what’s buggin you?” His drawl is deeper, soaked with sleep.
He scoots a little closer, hot breath tickling your ear. You can’t move. You should look him in the eye when you tell him, but you can’t. The words are at the back of your throat surging forward toward your lips. The anxiety in your chest feels like a herd of buffalo stomping across the countryside. You squeeze your eyes shut to try and stop it.
“Sweetheart?” His hand reaches toward you, eyes trained on your profile as concern laces his brow.
“I’m pregnant.”
His hand stops over your arm. You feel its warmth so close, and then it goes away. You dare to look at him. You expect him to get out of bed and bolt. You don’t know why. He’s only shown you otherwise the entirety of your relationship, but this is more than either of you signed up for. Instead, you watch as it sinks in. He connects the dots, all the symptoms and signs that were right in front of his face, his subconscious absorbing them, but refusing to put it all together.
“I’m sorry,” you say.
You look back toward the ceiling, tears slipping from your eyes.
His hand covers your abdomen, forehead pressing against your temple. He starts to feel the changes to your body for what they are. You shudder.
“How long have you known?”
There’s not a trace of judgment or fear in his voice, but it does little to assure you. You’re scared. It doesn’t matter what Joel says or does, the fear is overwhelming.
“Beginning of August.”
“Shit, baby.” He pulls you into him, cradling your head against his chest. “You didn’t have to carry this alone.”
“I didn’t think it would last.” After months of holding the tears back, you finally let them out, a mix of relief and fear. “I didn’t- I didn’t want you to-”
You can’t finish it. You can’t say it out loud, but Joel knows what you’re trying to say. You didn’t want him to lose another child, and it wrecks him. His grip on you is crushing, but it soothes your shaking frame. Just as you come down, his sobs greet your ear because he’s scared too. Every single fear and anxiety that has come over you the past months, he feels too. Maria’s labor and delivery flash through his mind. If that happens to you, who’s going to save you?
You reach up to cradle his face. He presses into your neck. Your skin is sticky and salty again, but you don’t even think about it as the man you love and can’t tell cries in your arms. You’re unable to return his soothing squeeze, but you lay there to provide any comfort you can. The two of you fall asleep tangled in each other.
You feel Joel’s fingers dancing across your abdomen before you’re fully conscious. There’s no rhyme or reason to his movements. His other hand brushes over your temple and through your hair. Every once in a while you feel his breath and lips across your neck, up and down your arm, over your collarbone. It feels like he’s memorizing you, fear present in all of his movements even now.
You finally open your eyes. His movements still as you look at him. There are tears in his eyes as his head falls forward, resting against yours. “I’m scared.”
“Me too.” You reach out, nails raking across his arm.
He shudders under your touch. “I wish you told me sooner.”
You bit your lips. “I’m sorry.”
He lets out a deep sigh, kissing your forehead. His hand drifts to your abdomen again. You watch his eyes, so expressive filled with fear and anxiety and maybe a little bit of awe and guilt?
“I should’ve been more careful.”
You press your head to his, inhaling softly. “We.”
Joel’s fingers scrape along your jaw, his beard rough against your chin. “I like being a we.”
“Me too.”
Silence settles between the two of you. The wind knocks against the window, but it’s warm next to Joel. His arm snakes around you, tugging you closer to him.
“I suppose you’ve told Maria?”
You can’t hide the guilty smile on your lips. “If it makes a difference, she told me I needed to tell you right away. Pretty sure she was gonna tell you herself if I didn’t do it soon.” You mess with the collar of his shirt.
“How long do we have?”
“Figure it’ll be May. If we get that far.” You say. Joel nods and something clenches around your heart, a need to protect him, warn him of the danger. “You know there’s a lot of risks. No guarantee…”
“One day at a time.” He kisses your cheek but you see all the fear he’s pushing away plastered to his face like a movie poster.
Joel asks you how you are, but other than that, you don’t talk about it. You feel like a weight has lifted off your shoulders but there’s an anvil hanging above your head, waiting to drop at a moment’s notice.
You’ve outgrown your last pair of jeans. When you manage to trade with someone, they give you a look, like they know what’s going on inside your body.
You take more naps, sometimes at the clinic, sometimes on the couch. You’re constantly tired. Maria brings dinner to the house every few days. She never asked, but you don’t complain.
One evening you open your eyes to find Ellie staring down at you, worry etched in her features. It startles you at first.
“You’ve been sleeping a lot lately,” She says.
“You’ve noticed?” You pull yourself into a seated position. It feels like someone shoved a bunch of cotton into your mouth. You reach for the now room-temperature water on your end table.
“You only take naps when you’re sick or depressed.” You raise an eyebrow at her. She crosses her arms as if to say she knows you’re neither right now. “What’s going on?”
You finish off the water. Despite its temperature, it helps. “I’m fine.” You reach out, placing a hand on her shoulder, but it does nothing. At 17 years old, Ellie is turning into a woman before your very eyes. At times, you’re convinced any semblance of childhood has been replaced with adulthood, but there are other times you still see the slivers of the girl you met two and a half years ago. Right now, she’s the one sitting in front of you.
“Bullshit. What’s going on? You and Joel have been acting weird.”
Had things really been that different in the past couple of weeks? You open your mouth to speak, unsure of what to say. You and Joel hadn’t talked about telling anyone, which seemed silly. You can’t hide this forever.
The door opens and Carter bursts in with Joel on his heels. A smile instantly finds your lips.
“Mommy! Look!” He holds up a package of seemingly new Crayola crayons.
Your eyes widen with exaggeration. “Wow, buddy. That’s awesome.”
“John Lacy found a bunch of them on patrol. They handed them out today,” Joel smiles. “Grabbed you some colored pencils.” He hands a set of non-crayola pencils to Ellie.
“Thanks.” She smiles but is still distracted by her worry over you.
Carter crawls up beside you, eagerly pulling out the surprisingly intact crayons one by one. Joel leans over to kiss your cheek and tousles Ellie’s hair. She makes a face of displeasure but doesn’t fight him on it.
“You two look like you were talkin about somethin serious.”
“I was trying to figure out why the two of you have been acting weird,” Ellie says.
Joel’s drops to unreadable. He looks at you and you shrug in response. “We have to tell them eventually.”
Worry makes its home on Ellie’s face. “So something is wrong with you.with you.”
“Nothing is wrong with me.” You sigh deeply. You run your fingers over Carter’s head, kissing it.
“You’re sure acting like there is,” She says impatiently.
“Ellie,” Joel reprimands, traces of his asshole voice laced into it.
Ellie bites her lip. It looks like she might be fighting off tears as she looks directly at you. “I’m worried about you.”
You force a smile, leaning forward. Your forearms rest on your knees. One would think it would get easier to say each time. Instead, it’s like picking at a scab that’s not healed. You’re forcing yourself to say something, your brain isn’t ready to accept. “I’m pregnant.”
Ellie sits up straighter, her eyes widen with shock. “Oh wow…”
You wonder if the pictures fill her mind too. She saw Maria the night Elias was born. She saw the blood that covered you. Joel’s fingers brush over your shoulder, squeezing it lightly before they run over the back of your neck. You lean against him. “I’m sorry we worried you. We’re still getting used to the idea,” You say.
She nods and then her arms around your neck. She basically knocks you backward with the force of it. “I’m glad you’re not dying.”
You squeeze her tightly, a faint lilt of humor in your voice. “Me too.”
Then her voice drops to a whisper right at your ear. “You’ll be okay. I know you will.”
Your head rests on Joel’s bare chest that night. The full moon sends light drifting through your window, casting the room in a cool glow. You play absentmindedly with the hair on his chest. His heart beats under your ear. The room is otherwise silent.
“I told Tommy today.”
You nod.
“He wanted to know why I was so quiet. Told him I was always quiet.”
That pulls a smile across your lips. “Surprised he shut up long enough to notice.”
Joel chuckles. His arm around you tightens. His lips find your forehead. “I know we’re not ready to think too much about it.”
“Don’t think it’s something we can really ignore.” You nuzzle further into him.
“Baby steps.” He kisses your nose this time.
You quirk an eyebrow. “Baby steps? Really?” You flip onto your stomach while you still can.
He chuckles. “Poor word choice.”
You kiss his bicep and then his shoulder. He looks at you like your entire world and your stomach erupts in butterflies and twists in knots all at the same time. You still won’t let him say it, but you feel it every time he looks at you like that.
You rest your chin on his shoulder. “What are these steps you had in mind?”
His thumb traces over your jaw and cheek. “Don’t bolt on me, okay?”
“I think it’s a little late for that.”
He chuckles and then inhales deeply. “I think we should probably share a house. I figured you’d prefer to stay here, but it’s up to you.” He searches your eyes for any signs of panic or signs that you might shut down but finds nothing. In fact, you’re so calm that it’s hard to read.
“It would be nice to have you officially living here,” you say. It feels right to say, to think about. “And Ellie if she wants.”
“That was easier than I’d thought it would be.”
“You pretty much live here as is.” You turn on your side, nuzzling back into him. “I’ll miss your fireplace though.”
Joel smiles. “Guess I'll just have to keep you warm instead.”

baby daddy! satoru x baby mama! reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
black coded reader <3
warnings; none really, just fluff tbh
wc; 1.1k
an: maybe i’ll write a part where the actual baby making takes place if this doesn’t flop 🤷🏾‍♀️
Tumblr media
* baby daddy! satoru who looks at you with wide eyes as you show up to his apartment with a positive pregnancy test. before this situation you both were friends with benefits for a year and some change; having met him during your shift at the bar you currently work at.
* baby daddy! satoru who nearly falls over once you decide that you want to keep it (after all, it’s him we’re talking about)
* baby daddy! satoru who respects your decision after the initial shock and let’s it be known that’s he not going to be a deadbeat… (unlike someone)
“please don’t tell me we have to get married.”
you roll your eyes as you continue to clean the used shot glasses left behind by patrons.
“i’d rather self amputate my arms and legs, satoru.”
* baby daddy! satoru who tries to make it to as much doctors appointments as he can— sometimes even taking off of work for them.
“so, you’re currently at the end of your first trimester. everything is looking good, baby is looking healthy. any questions?” the doctor smiles sweetly at the both of you as she looks through yours and the baby’s charts.
satoru sits up from his chair, eyes perking up in the process “how long until you can tell if it’s going to be the most powerful being in the world?”
“satoru!”
“what… just curious..”
* baby daddy! satoru who secretly buys everything on your registry.
* baby daddy! satoru who watches you marvel at everything he bought, acting surprised with you.
* baby daddy! satoru who poses the idea of the both of you having a place together after a serious talk with shoko.
“don’t you think it would be safer for both her and the baby? y’know cuz you’re practically cursed.” a freshly lit newport hangs off her lips as she eyes her old friend.
“what?! i’m not cursed..”
“think about it— the world shifted off kilter when you were born. people were quite literally planning your murder before you could walk. you don’t think they’ll be rubbing their hands at the chance to get at your offspring?”
satoru breaks his friend’s stare and chooses silence, opting to take another bite out of his onigiri.
* baby mama! reader who accepts the offer because you’re literally just a twenty-something girl trying to navigate this unfair world, living paycheck to paycheck (😪)
— fear not tho because baby daddy! satoru got his baby mama covered!
* baby mama! reader who gets to know satoru more since moving in and he’s honestly such an interesting character.
* baby mama! reader who thinks it’s truly nice seeing him for who he was rather than him being a complete whiny mess after an orgasm for a change.
“do you just starve yourself all day? there’s literally nothing here to eat, toru!” you have your hand placed on six month old pregnant stomach and the other is holding open his stupidly expensive smart fridge that currently has one singular bento box that is half eaten.
“i don’t know how to cook!”
“good lord, what am i going to do with you?”
* baby mama! reader who takes off from the bar after satoru essentially pleads on his knees for you to stay home.
- he eventually convinces you to quit altogether.
* baby mama! reader who learns the truth about satoru’s job after waiting for him at the and seeing a fucking panda just holding a conversation with some weird kid with markings around his mouth, simply replying with “salmon.”
* baby daddy! satoru who thought it would be fine to just have you sit tight for a couple of minutes while he checks up on his students since he’s been off from work but clearly he was wrong when he comes back to see you bug-eyed and pacing back and forth.
you’re already trampling over your own words when satoru walks over to you with a concerned look on his face. “w-why did i just see a fucking talking panda satoru!”
he’s sliding a hand over his face and is pulling you into the nearest room and sliding the door shut behind him. it’s there that he explains the world of jujutsu sorcery and what he does and why you saw a talking panda roaming about.
he decides to kill two birds with one stone that day and introduces you to his students and the both of you are bombarded with a magnitude of questions.
there’s a brunette who hasn’t taken her hands off your stomach since introduction and there’s a pink haired young man who’s enamored with you overall.
“kinda surprising someone would willingly have a child with you.”
the brunette takes her hands off your stomach to pound her fist into the dark-haired kid whose names you learned was megumi.
(you caught a glimpse of a younger version of him tucked into satoru’s wallet after spending the whole day in the grocery store)
“just because we’re all thinking it doesn’t mean you have to say it out loud, fushiguro.”
* baby mama! reader who grows fond of the trio after initial introduction and ends up seeing them more often after that.
* baby daddy! satoru who doesn’t mind one bit and opens up his house so you could spend more time with them.
* baby daddy! satoru who’s in the middle of an intense fight but stops once he hears the specific ringtone he picked out for you.
“give me a minute would you? someone rather important is calling.”
his opponent is stunned and confused at the sheer audacity yet they don’t dare move an inch.
satoru presses his phone to his ear, a soft smile appearing on his lips as he answers you. “what’s going on, pretty girl?”
“baby. coming. now.”
“be right there.”
satoru’s smile drops as he reverts his attention back to his opponent, his arms preparing to conjure a finishing blow.
“sorry to cut our playtime short but someone truly worthy of my time just called.”
* baby daddy! satoru who makes it just in time to see his beautiful son being born.
* baby mama! reader who’s exhausted from giving life to a literal being. you’ve got your arms wrapped around the newborn that finally stopped crying all while sharing glances between you and satoru.
* baby daddy! satoru who has this weird feeling in his stomach after receiving his son in his arms. the expression on his face resembles one of pure bliss as he takes a seat in the chair not too far from your hospital bed.
after much-needed reassurance and satoru helping you to sleep, he’s slowly pacing around the room with your son, whispering sweet nothings and quiet promises.
“not that i doubted it for a second but you’re certainly mine alright.”
he smiles at the piercing blue eyes staring right back at his own.
* baby mama! reader who isn’t actually sleeping and watches the both of them with tired eyes and in that moment knows she made the right decision and is content with the possibility of a domestic life with the strongest sorcerer of the modern age.

Unexpected Blessings
Summary: Jey Uso and his girlfriend navigate the surprises and challenges of an unexpected pregnancy, including a gender reveal and baby shower, culminating in the intense experience of labor and the arrival of their twin daughters.
this is my first fic so bare with me also I did use ChatGPT bc my OG draft was taking too long
First Trimester
The sun was setting over the horizon, casting a warm glow in Jey Uso’s living room. He was sprawled on the couch, scrolling through his phone when you walked in, holding a small box. Your heart raced, a mix of excitement and nerves coursing through you.
“Jey,” you called softly, trying to gauge his mood. He looked up, curiosity sparking in his eyes.
“Hey, what you got there?” he asked, sitting up and leaning forward.
You took a deep breath, opening the box to reveal two tiny pairs of baby shoes. “I wanted to show you something…important.”
His expression shifted from curiosity to confusion, then realization. “Wait, are you saying…?”
You nodded, feeling a wave of emotions wash over you. “Yeah, I’m pregnant—with twins.”
Jey’s eyes widened, a smile breaking across his face. He jumped up, enveloping you in a tight embrace. “Oh man, this is…wow! This is amazing!”
His excitement was infectious, and you couldn’t help but laugh through the tears that threatened to spill. “You really think so?”
“Hell yeah! We’re gonna be parents—twice as nice!” he exclaimed, his enthusiasm filling the room. “This is a blessing.”
Second Trimester
As the weeks went by, the two of you settled into a routine. Jey was by your side for every doctor’s appointment, holding your hand through every ultrasound. He learned about pregnancy, read books, and even picked out baby names, often playfully arguing over his picks versus yours.
“Come on, what’s wrong with ‘Jey Jr.’?” he teased one afternoon.
“Maybe if we have a boy,” you laughed, rolling your eyes. “But let’s not rush it.”
With the gender reveal approaching, you decided to throw a party. You wanted it to be a memorable event, surrounded by friends and family. Jey took charge of the details, wanting everything to be perfect.
On the day of the reveal, the backyard was decorated in a mix of blue and pink. Friends and family gathered, buzzing with excitement. You both stood at the center, Jey holding a balloon filled with colored powder.
“On the count of three!” you called out, heart racing. “One, two, three!”
Jey popped the balloon, and a cloud of pink powder burst into the air. Gasps filled the space, followed by cheers and laughter. “It’s girls!” you shouted, beaming at Jey.
He lifted you up in his arms, spinning you around. “We’re having twin daughters! Man, they’re gonna be spoiled!”
As the crowd celebrated, you both announced the names you had chosen: “Maya and Kaia.” The names felt right, perfect for your little girls.
Third Trimester
As your belly grew, so did Jey’s affection. He was always there, whether it was running out for late-night cravings or simply wrapping his arms around you while watching TV. You felt more in love with him every day, and the bond you shared deepened.
But there were tough moments, too—nights filled with anxiety and doubt. During one of those nights, you found yourself staring at the ceiling, lost in thought. Jey noticed your silence and pulled you close.
“What’s on your mind, babe?” he asked softly.
“Just…everything,” you admitted. “What if I’m not ready? What if we can’t handle this?”
He kissed the top of your head, his voice steady. “We’ll figure it out together. No matter what, I’m here for you and our girls. We’re a team.”
With the baby shower approaching, Jey transformed into a doting partner, ensuring you had everything you needed. The shower was a beautiful celebration filled with friends, laughter, and love. Everyone gathered in a decorated space, showering you with gifts and advice.
As you opened the presents, Jey stood beside you, his pride evident. “Look at all this stuff for Maya and Kaia,” he said, chuckling at the adorable outfits and toys.
Labor
The night your labor began, you were watching a movie together, feeling slightly off. A few mild contractions made you frown. Jey noticed and immediately shifted his attention to you, concern etched on his face.
“Babe, are you okay?” he asked, placing a hand on your belly.
You took a deep breath, trying to gauge the sensation. “I think it’s starting. We should probably get ready.”
As the contractions intensified, you moved to the hospital, with Jey’s hand tightly gripping yours the whole way. Once you arrived, the staff took you to a room, and Jey stayed right by your side, whispering encouragement.
Hours passed, and the contractions became more intense. You squeezed Jey’s hand, breathing through the pain, his presence grounding you. “You’re doing amazing, just focus on me,” he said, wiping your forehead with a cloth.
With every wave of pain, you could see the worry and excitement in Jey’s eyes. He rubbed your back, reminding you of the little ones waiting to meet you both. The sound of the heart monitor filled the room, steady and reassuring.
As the labor progressed, you felt a surge of determination. “I can do this,” you told Jey, who nodded fervently, eyes wide with admiration.
When it was time to push, you felt an incredible rush of energy. Jey held your hand tightly, giving you strength as you worked together to bring Maya and Kaia into the world. “You’ve got this, babe. I’m right here,” he said, his voice steady and supportive.
After what felt like an eternity, the moment arrived. With one final push, you heard the first cries of your daughters. Tears streamed down your face as the nurse placed Maya and Kaia on your chest, their tiny bodies warm and perfect.
Jey leaned in, awe-struck. “Look at our little superstars,” he whispered, brushing a finger over each of their tiny hands. “They’re beautiful.”
In that moment, surrounded by love, you realized that despite the challenges ahead, you were ready to embrace the journey of parenthood together. With Jey by your side, you felt equipped to navigate every joy and obstacle life had to offer.

Heartbeat of Autumn
Tumblr media
As new parents, Eris and Lyra Vanserra navigate the overwhelming challenges of caring for their newborn son. Amidst sleepless nights, overbearing family, and deep-seated fears they discover the unbreakable bond that comes with parenthood and the strength neither of them knew they possessed.
Content warnings: Postpartum struggles, emotional distress, tense familiar relationships.
Eris peered down at the patch of vibrant ginger hair nestled against his chest, the tiny bundle with porcelain skin swaddled tightly in a blanket, only a rosy hand peeking out from underneath. His son was perfection incarnate—every feature flawless and delicate. From the moment he was born, Thorne had been blessed with a full head of fiery red hair, just like all the other Vanserra boys. But as the weeks passed, some of it had fallen away, leaving behind soft tufts that tickled Eris's fingertips.
With a tender touch, Eris traced his fingers up and down the baby's tiny back, feeling the warmth of his body seep into his own. Thorne gurgled contentedly in his slumber, the sound like a symphony to Eris's ears. Plump lips puckered and parted with each gentle breath, and the sight filled Eris with an overwhelming love for his son.
From the moment Thorne was born, Eris had made a promise to himself: he would devote every waking second to his son. Despite his duties under his father's oppressive rule, Eris refused to be an absent father. He was determined to be there for every milestone and precious moment in Thorne's life, even if it meant going against Beron's expectations of him being "soft and weak". So every diaper change, feeding, burp, and bath was met with Eris's undivided attention and love for his son.
Despite enduring his father's constant verbal tirades, all it took was the warmth of Thorne's tiny body against his chest to make every anxiety and worry simply melt away. The soft skin of his baby boy merged seamlessly with his own, their scents mingling into a delightful mixture of cinnamon and apples.
Eris leaned down, breathing in the familiar scent of his son's hair as it tickled his nose. He closed his eyes and sighed deeply, feeling the rise and fall of Thorne's chest against his own. Every detail of this new little life filled him with overwhelming love and joy. Though only two months old, Thorne already felt like a part of Eris that he had been missing for a lifetime. From the moment those bright green eyes opened and Thorne let out his first glorious battle cry, Eris had been reduced to a puddle on the floor. In that instant, he knew he would have been content to die right then and there, as nothing more than Thorne's devoted father—high lordship be damned.
Lyra's pregnancy had been anything but smooth sailing - a demanding and unrelenting trial that tested not only her physical strength, but also Eris's. From the very first month, she was plagued by a debilitating morning sickness that refused to abide by any schedule, often striking at any time throughout the day. The mere smell of food would send her sprinting towards the nearest bathroom, doubled over as she retched into the basin with little relief. She soon gave up on trying to eat anything more than a few sips of broth and small bites of dry bread, her once robust appetite now a distant memory. Eris could do nothing but watch in helpless despair as his beloved mate, the female he wanted to share the world with, seemed to waste away before his eyes. She lost an alarming amount of weight, her once radiant complexion replaced with a pale, sickly pallor and her once curvaceous figure reduced to skin and bones.
When the second trimester finally brought some respite from the sickness, Lyra regained some of her strength and color. However, sleep continued to elude her as their unborn child grew restless within her womb. Every night was a battle against exhaustion as she tried desperately to soothe the baby's constant kicking and squirming. Eris did his best to stay awake with her, sitting in their chambers bathed in the soft glow of firelight, singing tender lullabies in hopes of lulling both mother and child to sleep. His deep voice resonated with love and fervent prayers for their little one to finally find rest so that Lyra could have a moment's reprieve.
As they entered into the third trimester, Lyra's struggle only intensified. Each movement became a monumental effort as her body strained under the weight of her growing belly. Her joints constantly throbbed with pain, every step causing her immense discomfort as if her very bones were on fire. Eris's heart broke a little more each time she winced, her body forced to bear the burdens of pregnancy in ways that seemed almost cruel. Despite the overwhelming challenges, Lyra still managed to smile through the pain and tell Eris how excited she was to meet their little one. Her strained voice held a fierce determination and an unbreakable love that seemed to overshadow all the suffering she endured.
"It’s worth it," she would whisper, her voice trembling with both exhaustion and hope. "All of this is worth it, Eris. I’d endure it a thousand times over just to hold our babe in my arms."
In the crisp, autumn air of a new day, Lyra's labor began. The first hints of frost glinted on the windowpanes of their chambers, a silent but beautiful welcome for the newest member of the High Autumn Family. As she stirred awake, Lyra felt a sharp pain shoot through her lower back, but she dismissed it as just another discomfort in her long and difficult pregnancy. Yet as the morning progressed, the pain intensified, spreading like wildfire across her abdomen and pelvis. By midday, with weak rays of sunlight filtering through the orange and brown leaves on the trees, the contractions had hit full force - deep, wrenching waves that stole her breath and left her gripping the edges of her bed in desperation.
Eris stood by her side, his usually composed and reserved demeanor now cracking under the weight of worry and fear. His mate's face contorted in pain as she struggled through each contraction. Eris had thought he was prepared for this moment, but now as he watched her struggle, he felt a helplessness clawing at his insides like a caged animal. He frantically called for a healer, his voice echoing through the halls with a desperate panic that he couldn't contain.
Lyra's labor was a slow, grueling process, each contraction ripping through her body like a fiery inferno. Her fingernails dug into Eris's skin as she clung to him, seeking any bit of comfort and stability in the midst of the relentless pain. Hours passed, dragging on for what felt like an eternity as she labored through the day and well into the night. The healer's brow furrowed with concern as she checked Lyra's progress, her gentle reassurances becoming strained as each minute ticked by. Lyra's breaths came in short gasps, her strength depleting with each passing contraction. Eris remained steadfast by her side, his grip on her hand tight and unwavering, whispering words of encouragement and love. The only time he left her was when his father summoned him to the court room, insisting that it was not appropriate for a male to be present during the birth of his child. But Eris refused to leave his mate's side, determined to support her in whatever way he could. He calmly informed his father that he was not like any other male and that he would be there for Lyra, and he would witness the birth of his first born.
The pain was an all-encompassing force, a relentless attack on her body that felt as though it were tearing her apart. Lyra cried out, her voice hoarse from screaming through each contraction, her body trembling with exhaustion. She had been told that her body would know what to do, that it was designed for this purpose of bearing children, but now she wondered if her body had never been properly trained for this task. The agony seemed never-ending, consuming her every thought and movement. As the sun dipped below the horizon, Lyra's cries turned into desperate pleas, declaring that she couldn't endure any longer and that everything felt wrong. Eris, watching the strain in her eyes and feeling his own heart constrict with fear, knew Lyra was reaching her breaking point.
As the hours ticked by, Lyra's labor seemed to come to a halt. Her body refused to progress, as if frozen in time. The healer's expression grew grim as she quietly explained that the baby was not positioned for an easy delivery, and Lyra's body was struggling to push it down the birth canal. The suggestion of a medical intervention hung in the air like a dark cloud, a decision left to Eris and Lyra as they exchanged desperate glances. But Lyra, with a fierce determination in her eyes, refused to give up. She dug deep within herself and summoned every last ounce of strength she had, gritting her teeth against the pain.
The sun rose and set again, but still, Lyra labored on. The chamber filled with her cries, the calming words of the healer, and Eris's softly whispered prayers to any deity who would listen. His heart broke as he watched his beloved endure each wave of pain, her eyes pleading for relief.
As the sun began to rise on the second day of labor, a sense of urgency and determination filled Lyra's body. Her clothes were drenched in sweat, her hair matted against her forehead as she gasped for breath. The pain was intense, but she could feel her body taking over, pushing her onwards towards the end. Through the haze of agony, the healer's voice rang out like a beacon, guiding her through each contraction. Eris stood by her side, his hand clasping hers tightly as she gave everything she had.
With one final, guttural scream, Lyra pushed with all her might, every muscle in her body straining with a strength she didn't know she possessed. And then, just as the first rays of sunlight broke through the darkness, a cry pierced the air - loud and defiant, filling the room with its power and bringing tears to Eris's eyes.
Thorne had arrived. Their son. Their baby boy, who they had been waiting for with so much love and anticipation.
The healer moved with swift, practiced movements as she swaddled the tiny, squirming, screaming bundle and placed him on Lyra's chest. Her voice was soft with both praise and relief as she spoke to the new mother. Lyra, her body trembling with exhaustion, let out a choked sob as she looked down at her son, who immediately calmed upon feeling the warmth of his mother's skin and hearing the gentle lilt of her voice. The pain, fear, and hours of labor all faded into a distant memory as she gazed into the bright green eyes that met hers with a curious, unwavering stare.
Eris, tears streaming down his face, leaned over the bed to press a kiss to Lyra's sweat-soaked auburn hair. His heart swelled with a fierce love that bordered on painful, his chest tight with a mix of pride, relief, and overwhelming joy. The bond between himself and his son radiated as he felt himself drawn to the small, sweet face just minutes old.
"You did it," he whispered, his voice cracking as he gently brushed her hair from her forehead. "You did it, Lyra." He pressed another kiss to her forehead, savoring the familiar scent of his mate mixed with the new scent of their child.
Lyra smiled through her tears, momentarily forgetting her exhaustion as she cradled their son against her chest. Her fingers traced over the small ginger tufts that marked him unmistakably as a Vanserra. She didn't look at her mate; her focus solely on the newborn baby boy that she had longed to meet for months. "He's here," she murmured in awe, her voice thick with emotion. "He's finally here. We have a son."
The days following Thorne’s birth were a whirlwind of emotions and exhaustion, a blur of sleepless nights and endless moment’s of awe as Eris and Lyra adjusted to life with their newborn. The world outside their chambers seemed to fade into insignificance, their entire universe now centered around the life they had brought into it. Thorne, with his tuft of red hair and bright green eyes, demanded every ounce of their attention, which both mother and father were happy to supply.
But with the joy of Thorne’s arrival came the inevitable challenges. Everyday was a new relentless test of endurance. Thorne seemed to only sleep in short bursts, resting on his mothers chest. He awoke often with hungry cries that echoed through the quiet of night and day. Lyra, still recovering from the grueling labor was exhausted beyond measure, her body aching and sore, her emotions a fragile thing that verged on overwhelming. Eris, despite his best efforts, could do little to alleviate her pain, but he took on as much of the burden as he could, tending to Thorne at every opportunity to give Lyra even a moment to lie down.
He would rise in the middle of the night to the screaming babe, holding his son close as he paced the length of their chamber, humming lullabies, traditional of the Autumn Court that his nursemaids had sung to him. Eris learned quickly how to change a diaper with trembling hands and how to swaddle Thorne just right to ease his fussing. But despite his determination, there were moments when Eris felt the weight of it all—the exhaustion, the fear of being his father, the constant, gnawing worry for Lyra’s wellbeing.
On one particular night, after the sun had just dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows over the court, the once-golden leaves outside their chambers were now tinged with deep reds and purples of twilight. Inside, however, the world was far from calm. Thorne’s cried echoed through the room, piercing the silence and fraying Lyra’s already delicate nerves.
The sun had just dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the Autumn Court, and the once-golden leaves outside their chambers were now tinged with the deep reds and purples of twilight. Inside, however, the world was far from calm. Thorne’s cries echoed through the room, piercing the silence and fraying Lyra’s already delicate nerves.
It had been hours since the last time he had settled, and Lyra was at her wit’s end. She had fed him, changed him, rocked him, and sang to him until her voice was hoarse, but nothing seemed to soothe him. Thorne’s little face was red from crying, his tiny fists clenched as he screamed, the sound grating against her exhausted mind. Every time she tried to pass him to Eris for a moment’s respite, Thorne only screamed louder, his cries reaching a fever pitch until she had no choice but to take him back.
“Lyra, let me take him again,” Eris urged gently, his brow furrowed with concern as he watched her struggle.
But Lyra shook her head, her hands trembling as she clutched Thorne to her chest. “He doesn’t want you,” she whispered, her voice thick with frustration and fatigue. “He just wants me, but I don’t know what to do. I’ve tried everything, Eris. I don’t know how to make him stop.”
Tears welled up in her eyes, blurring her vision as she looked down at their son, whose cries had only grown more desperate. The sound was relentless, a high-pitched wail that seemed to vibrate through her entire body, leaving her feeling raw and frayed at the edges.
Eris moved closer, his hand resting on her back as he tried to comfort her. “Lyra, it’s not your fault. Babies cry—it’s what they do. He doesn’t know what he wants yet, but it’s not because you’re doing something wrong.”
But his words offered little solace. Lyra could feel herself unraveling, the weight of the past few days crushing her as Thorne’s cries grated against her already frazzled nerves. She was exhausted, her body still weak from labor, and she felt like she was failing at the one thing that mattered most—being the mother Thorne needed her to be.
“I can’t do this,” she finally broke, her voice shaking as tears spilled over her cheeks. “I’m so tired, Eris. He won’t stop crying, and I don’t know what to do. I just want him to stop. I need him to stop.”
Eris’s heart ached at the sight of her so broken, her usually strong demeanor crumbling under the weight of exhaustion and self-doubt. He wrapped his arms around her, careful not to press too tightly against Thorne, who was still squirming and wailing in her arms. “Lyra, it’s okay. You don’t have to do this alone. I’m here, and I’ll stay with you. We’ll figure it out together.”
But Lyra could barely hear him over the sound of Thorne’s cries, her own breath coming in short, panicked gasps as she tried to calm the baby, her hands shaking as she rocked him back and forth. “Please, Thorne,” she whispered desperately, her voice cracking with the weight of her emotions. “Please, just stop. I need you to stop.”
But Thorne only cried harder, his tiny body rigid with distress, his cries escalating to a pitch that seemed to pierce straight through her. It was too much—the constant crying, the overwhelming responsibility, the fear that she wasn’t enough. She felt as though she were drowning, the walls of their chamber closing in on her as Thorne’s cries became all she could hear, all she could think about.
Without another word, Lyra sank down onto the edge of the bed, her body trembling with exhaustion and despair. She clutched Thorne to her chest, her tears falling onto his tiny head as she rocked him back and forth, murmuring broken apologies that were swallowed up by his cries. “I’m sorry, Thorne. I’m so sorry. I don’t know what you want. I don’t know how to help you.”
Eris knelt beside her, his heart breaking as he watched her unravel, knowing there was little he could do to take away her pain. He reached out, his hand gently covering hers as she held Thorne. “Lyra, you’re doing everything you can. He’s just overwhelmed, just like you. But he’s safe, and he’s loved, and that’s what matters most. You’re enough, Lyra. You’re more than enough.”
But Lyra couldn’t see it, couldn’t feel it. All she could hear were Thorne’s cries, all she could feel was the crushing weight of inadequacy. She had thought she could handle this, had thought she was prepared, but nothing had prepared her for the relentless, unending demands of a newborn who needed her every moment of every day.
Her tears came faster now, her sobs mixing with Thorne’s cries as she leaned into Eris’s embrace, her body shaking with the force of her emotions. “I’m so tired, Eris,” she choked out. “I’m so, so tired. I don’t know how much more I can take.”
Eris pulled her closer, his heart breaking as he held both her and Thorne in his arms, wishing he could do more to ease her pain. “I know, my love. I know you’re tired. But you don’t have to do this alone. I’m here with you, and we’ll get through this together. I promise you, it will get better.”
But in that moment, Lyra couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. All she could feel was the crushing weight of exhaustion, the overwhelming pressure to be everything Thorne needed her to be, and the fear that she was failing him—failing both of them.
Eris held her through it, his own eyes damp with unshed tears as he whispered words of comfort, his voice steady even as his heart ached with helplessness. He knew this was only a passing storm, that they would find their way through it, but in that moment, all he could do was be there—hold them, love them, and wait for the storm to pass.
And eventually, slowly, it did. Thorne’s cries began to subside, his tiny body finally giving in to exhaustion as he quieted in Lyra’s arms. His little hands unclenched, his breathing evening out as he drifted off into a fitful sleep, his face still wet with tears. Lyra, too, began to calm, her sobs quieting as the tension in her body slowly eased, though the weight of her emotions still lingered.
Eris gently took Thorne from her arms, cradling the sleeping babe against his chest as he brushed a kiss to Lyra’s temple. “Rest now,” he whispered, his voice soft and filled with love. “I’ll take care of him. Just close your eyes and rest.”
Lyra nodded weakly, too drained to argue, too exhausted to do anything but lean into him as he carefully guided her to lie back on the bed. She closed her eyes, her body heavy with fatigue, and within moments, she was asleep, her breathing finally deep and even.
Eris stood there for a long time, holding Thorne close as he watched over Lyra, his heart aching with a mixture of love and sorrow.
And then there was his family.
Eris had anticipated his father’s reaction to Thorne’s birth, but nothing could have truly prepared him for Beron’s demands. Upon hearing that Lyra had given birth to a son, the High Lord of the Autumn Court had been insistent on meeting his grandson as soon as he could. Beron had sent word almost immediately, demanding an audience with the babe, his tone cold and authoritative, as though Thorne was just another asset to be inspected.
Eris’s jaw tightened with anger as he read the message, the familiar weight of his father’s expectations pressing down on him like a vice. Beron had never been a male to show warmth or tenderness, and the thought of his father laying eyes on his son filled Eris with a protective fury he had never known before. Thorne was only days old—fragile, innocent, and so very small—and the last thing Eris wanted was for him to be paraded before Beron like a trophy.
But Eris knew his father well enough to understand that defiance would come with a cost. Beron would not tolerate insubordination, even from his eldest son, and especially not when it came to a matter as significant as the birth of his heir’s firstborn. Eris could almost hear the words his father would say—the cutting remarks, the accusations of weakness, the thinly veiled threats that always lurked beneath the surface of their interactions.
Lyra, sensing Eris’s turmoil, placed a gentle hand on his arm as he stared down at the letter, Throne swaddled to her chest, his tiny whimpers and gurgles filling the air. Her touch brought him back to the present, grounding him. “You don’t have to let him in,” she whispered, her voice hoarse from exhaustion but firm with resolve. “Thorne isn’t ready for that. And neither are we.”
Eris looked at her, at the dark circles under her eyes, the pallor of her skin, and the way she clutched Thorne protectively to her chest. She was right, of course. They weren’t ready to face Beron’s scrutiny, not when they were still trying to navigate the fragile early days of parenthood. Eris knew his father had already made a judgement for Lyra not immediately presenting the babe to the court, but tried his best to shield her from direct scrutiny. But refusing Beron wasn’t a decision he could make lightly. It would be seen as a direct challenge to his authority—a challenge that could have far-reaching consequences for both of them.
Eris took a deep breath, steeling himself as he made his decision. “I’ll speak with him,” he said, his voice low and determined. “But he won’t come near Thorne. Not yet.”
The tension between Eris and his father crackled in the air like lightning, each of them radiating a palpable hatred towards the other. Beron's piercing gaze bore into his son, his expression cold and unreadable. "Where is the babe?" he barked, his voice sharp as a blade.
"He's with Lyra," Eris replied coolly, refusing to show any sign of fear or intimidation. "They're resting."
Beron's face twisted into a sneer, his anger boiling just below the surface. "Resting? Or hiding?" His eyes darkened with malice. "I expected more from you, Eris. You are meant to raise your son as a future ruler of this court, not coddle him like a weakling."
Eris felt a surge of rage at his father's words, but he kept his emotions in check, determined not to give Beron the satisfaction. "Thorne is an infant. He knows nothing of our world or our court. He needs time to be with his mother and to grow. When the time is right, I will present him before the court."
Beron's sneer deepened as he drew closer to Eris, his towering figure casting a menacing shadow over him. "You are becoming soft, boy. You were born to rule, not to be ruled by sentiment."
Eris clenched his fist at his side, but remained stoic. "My decision stands. Thorne will stay with Lyra until she is ready to face the courtiers once again. If you wish to see your grandson before then, you will have to make your own arrangements."
Beron stared down at his son with seething anger in his eyes. "You will teach him to be a true Vanserra, Eris. You will not let him become weak and feeble like you have."
Eris's jaw tightened, but he held his tongue as his father stormed out of the room, leaving a bitter trail behind him.
But for now, in this moment, Eris was bathed in the warm glow of the evening light, his newborn, barely two month old babe, slumbering on his chest. As he ran his hand gently up and down the length of Thorne’s back, Eris marveled at how small and delicate his son was. The baby gurgled happily in his sleep, his tiny lips puckered and parted with each soft breath, and the sight made Eris’s heart clench with a fierce, overwhelming love. This little boy, with his shock of red hair and his quiet strength, had captured his heart in a way that nothing else ever had.
Eris knew that these moments were fleeting, that Thorne would grow quickly, and soon enough, he’d be running around the halls of the estate, getting into mischief like any Vanserra boy. But for now, he was content to savor this—this quiet, peaceful bond that belonged to just the two of them.
He leaned down again, pressing a soft kiss to Thorne’s head, breathing in the scent of his son and feeling the weight of his responsibilities slip away. In this moment, there was no Beron, no Autumn Court, no expectations or pressures. There was only the warmth of Thorne’s skin against his own, the gentle rise and fall of his tiny chest, and the deep, abiding love that filled Eris’s heart to the brim.
He closed his eyes, letting the world outside fade away, and for the first time in a long while, Eris felt at peace. Holding Thorne, feeling the steady beat of his heart, Eris knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, no matter the battles he would have to fight, this—this was worth it all. Every sacrifice, every moment of fear, every tear shed—nothing mattered more than this little life he held in his arms.
In that stillness, with Thorne sleeping soundly against him, Eris made a silent vow. He would protect this boy with everything he had, would give him the love and the life that Eris himself had never known. He would be the father Thorne deserved, the one who would always be there—present, loving, and unwavering.
As he held Thorne close, Eris felt a tear slip down his cheek, a tear of joy, of relief, of pure, unadulterated love. And as Thorne stirred slightly in his sleep, his tiny hand curling against Eris’s chest, Eris smiled, knowing that in this moment, he had everything he had ever needed.

Mike Schmidt x reader where she’s pregnant?
mike schmidt x pregnant fem!reader pt.1
summary: a day in the life with mike and abby as the reader navigates the ups and downs of the much dreaded (and much anticipated) third trimester.
“Mike, I'm going to be honest, there's no way I can tie my shoes.”
Tumblr media
"Abby-girl! Come on, breakfast!"
I hear the sound of small, bare feet skittering down the hallway and halt to a stop at the edge of the dining table. Abby, hair still unbrushed and pajamas wrinkled, smiles at me from her seat by the window.
"What did you make this morning, y/n?" She leans across the table to see the bowl I'm holding, and I give her a sympathetic look.
"Oatmeal," I say, and she wilts slightly. "With nutella, and bananas! Made special for you."
I set down the bowl and she inspects it, picking up the spoon by the small end and poking at the slices of fruit. I shift on my swollen feet, and pray that she decides it's not poison, after-all. Besides, I need to eat something soon, too. And take a bath. And online shop for baby clothes, on clearance.
"I guess it's fine," she mutters, but digs in anyways.
"Well," I start, heading back into the kitchen, "I bet if you are a super star today that Mike will take you to get pizza tonight. And if he says no, I'll tell him the baby said we need it."
She smiles widely, and I pour myself a small cup of coffee. I sit down across from her at the table, and prop my feet onto the seat beside me, settling my coffee cup onto my bump to rest. Abby is fully invested in eating her oatmeal now, and I anticipate the need for a snack when she finishes.
Settling into domestic life with Abby and Mike wasn't difficult, one could say it was the exact opposite, but there are ups and downs. For one, I had to drop myself into a semi-stepmom situation, and pretty soon afterwards found out I was going to be a mom for real. But Abby is a good kid, and Mike is the kindest man I have ever met, and we're making it work day by day.
"So, Abs," I say between sips, "what are we feeling we want to do on this glorious day of all days, Saturday?"
She thinks for half a second, and opens her mouth to answer when the door begins to unlock. Mike steps into the living room, backpack slung over his shoulder with deep bags under his eyes. He smiles when he sees us nestled in our little corner of the room, and shuts out the bright morning light behind him.
I move to stand, but he puts his hand out to stop me.
"Woah woah woah, remember what the doc said, no unnecessary walking, right now. How are your feet feeling by the way?" He leans down to kiss me on the forehead, the cheek, a peck on the mouth, and moves to put his backpack and keys by the door.
"Eh, they're doing okay, but they definitely don't feel great," I respond, and he kneels down beside me.
"Want me to take a look?"
I nod my head, and he peels my socks off. The swelling is a little better, but I still hiss slightly when he pokes at the top of my foot, and the pit stays in my skin.
"Not the best, but not the worst," he says, not too sure of himself, "but you're not doing anything today, you need to rest."
I sigh. "Mike, you just got off of a shift, I know you're exhausted, and the house needs to be cleaned. There is no way I'm going to let you-"
"There is no way I am going to let you clean the house today, or do anything that is going to make you feel worse." He moves his hand to my stomach. "We're in this together, remember? 'Til the very end."
I place my hand over his own, "The very end, I love you."
"I love you, too. Now, what's first?" He kisses my fingers once and stands up. Abby joins him in watching for my answer.
"Breakfast, please."
"Agreed." He smiles and turns to the kitchen, presumedly to make us each an equally bland bowl of oatmeal.
"What were you saying you wanted to do today, Abby? You never got a chance to finish what you were saying, sweetheart."
Her bowl is empty; she wipes the leftover nutella from her lips, and moves towards the fridge to get out some milk. "One of my friends at school is having a birthday party today and I wanted to go." She pours herself a precariously full glass of milk from the carton, and slowly walks back to the table.
"You can still go Abs," says Mike, "and I could drive if you want me to."
"Well, her mom is carpooling for other kids and said she could come and get me," she adds between gulps.
I look at Mike over the kitchen bar, and he smiles at me slightly. "Abby, do you have her mom's number? I can call and see if she'll come and get you."
"Sure! Hold on, it's in my back pack." She hops up from her chair, stumbling in her excitement, and races to her room.
"Mike, if she goes, we could have a day all to ourselves."
Not that we don't love having Abby around, but a day alone would be well-deserved.
"Yeah, we could take a nap." He chuckles, and brings our breakfast to the table. Oatmeal, with just a little bit of nutella.
I nod my head in agreement as Abby races back to the dining room and shoves a piece of paper with a phone number in Mike's face. He calls, talks for a moment, and places down the phone while saying, "Abby, go get dressed, she will be here in 20 minutes." She turns on the spot and speeds down the hallway, once again.
We give each other a silent high five, and look forward to a day of relaxation together.
``````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
i'm going to be honest, i kind of want to continue this blurb into a second part where the day continues. i was really enjoying making this into a small, domestic fic and I didn't want to just make it about the pregnancy but the life that it would lead to WITH mike (which includes abby).
thanks for reading!!! <3
- Tashi and Art got married pretty young almost as soon as Art went pro after graduation.
- Tashi mild of felt lost. She was coaching Art and she loved him but felt like it wasn’t enough of a purpose for her.
- So she decided they should have a baby. Maybe motherhood could be her new focus other than coaching.
- She knew Art would say yes. He had been talking about having a baby since they had been engaged. He definitely has a breeding kink too.
- Since they were both in really good shape and so young, Tashi got pregnant on the first try basically. Art was so happy, it almost made Tashi nervous that he would focus on the baby more than tennis.
- Tashi was excited and read almost every baby/pregnancy book that she could find. She dedicated herself to being a perfect mother. She worked out ate right took vitamins. Her first and second trimester were fairly easy. Although she felt weird, she felt like she shouldn’t be a mother. Sometimes she would talk to Art about it but she wasn’t good at sharing her feelings.
- Tashi knew Art would be an amazing father, with all his free time which was not much he set up the nursery (with Tashi telling him exactly what to do) went to parenting classes with Tashi and read books as well. He was naturally a caregiver, Tashi was not.
- Throughout her pregnancy she coached Art and travelled with him. Towards the end Art practically begged her not too. He wanted her to stay home a relax but she refused.
- Tashi’s third trimester was a lot harder than the first two. She had been small her whole life up until this point. Now she felt enormous, she became quite clumsy due to her rapid change in size. Art thought it was adorable, but Tashi didn’t. She would always run into things or bump stuff off the counter with her belly.
- Tashi never complained about anything. Especially pain, she didn’t want to seem vulnerable. But all the sudden she had pain everywhere, in her back, her legs, her ankles, her hips. Art could tell she was in pain. It was hard for him to navigate the changes she was going through and how to support her when she was so closed off.
- Art would show his love through acts of service because that is what she liked the best. When he knew she was struggling he would make dinner, run her a bath, or clean the house. He would rub her feet, she didn’t ask him to he just would and she never refused it.
- “Just relax, I got it all. You don’t have to worry about anything” he would say to her when he knew she was stressed. Even though she never admitted it Art could calm her down almost all the time. She really loved him, he was her safe space.
- When Tashi was almost 39 weeks pregnant Art had a challenger. It was about an hour away from where they lived. Tashi had planned to go, but Art put his foot down for the first time during her pregnancy. She had been up all night, the baby had been kicking her ribs, she was having Braxton hicks contractions and she could give birth at any minute. There was no way Art would let her go.
- When Tashi went into labor she was as cool as a cucumber. Art on the other hand was a wreck. Tashi was the one calming him down. However Tashi started getting nervous when they arrived at the hospital. Tashi was in the bed in a hospital gown and Art was pacing back and fourth rambling about being scared. Tashi couldn’t take it anymore
- “Art.” She spoke calmly, he continued pacing, “Art!” She said with her voice cracking starting to cry. Art immediately rushed to her and turned off his emotions. “What if I can’t do it?” She cried “what if I’m not a good mom? I’m not kind or caring I can’t cook-“ Art interrupted her. He smiled lightly because she was finally opening up to him
- He reassured her easily. Telling her how she was the most caring kind person she just showed it in different ways. He told her that she takes care of him ever day and he wouldn’t get anything done without her. That made her laugh. “Tashi you have done everything you could to help our daughter already, you read all those books, went to classes, took care of your health. You’re gonna be an amazing mom I know it.” He smiled kissing her head, she smiled too.
- After that Art had calmed down and focused more on Tashi. He would get her ice chips, hold her hand, dap her head with a wet towel. It was the one time he felt like he could take care of her.
- It was an easy delivery because of how much preparation Tashi had done with her body during her pregnancy. Art was so proud of her.
- They didn’t have a name for her when she was born. They had such crazy busy lives that they never got to talk about it, it slipped their minds.
- Art was sitting in the hospital bwd next to Tashi looking down at the little girl who was a spitting image of Tashi.
- “We should name her Lily.” Art suggested
“Why?” Tashi asked looking at her husband curiously
“I don’t know, it’s cute and she’s cute. We have those Lily of the valleys all around our house too. She would like it.” He said smiling at his baby, Tashi petted the baby’s dark curls.
“Okay.” She said simply,
“Really?” Art asked surprised that she agreed so easily, that was a rare occurrence .
- “I like Lily.” Tashi nodded
You really couldn't wait for the morning sickness phase of pregnancy to pass. If it did. The best estimates indicated you had another few weeks or so until the next trimester. Last night's meal with your parents must have been too rich for your insides to handle. You brush your teeth to get rid of the taste and start thinking about how to avoid your vomiting around your parents without raising suspicions. Thankfully you had stocked up on some pharmacist approved meds for the nausea that you could probably discretely take during the day.
Stepping out of the bathroom, you're greeted by the scent of the bland oatmeal you've grown to hate. Nick has vowed that, as soon as the morning sickness symptoms subside, you will never have to eat oatmeal ever again. He'll burn all the oats in the apartment if you want. After the first trimester.
Nick sets breakfast on the table and holds your chair out for you, making you smile. Instead of sitting you give him a soft kiss. His scent hits you and you give him another, deeper kiss that he eagerly returns. Wrapping your arms around his neck, pressing your body against his, but you wince in pain. Nick pulls away just enough to see your face.
"Breast pain," you grouse. "Seems like everything I wear, every time they're touched, they just hurt."
"That's expected," Nick reassures. "I just have to be more careful."
"You're going to be okay leaving me with my parents for the day?"
Nick grins, "I'll behave. Gotta work, after all. But you've got my number on speed dial, right? And you've got Teach's as well? Anything happens I will drop whatever I'm doing and get to you."
"I know," you giggle. "And I'm forever grateful for that."
Tumblr media
"How about this dress?" Your mother pulls another overly extravagant, white dress from the rack. You shake your head. Aside from not wanting something so showy, you're worried it'll be too tight and show off the baby bump that's been forming.
"We're trying for something simple," you remind her. "Plus, it's not our wedding colors." You indicate the ring that Nick had gotten you, with the blue stone that matches his eyes. "We're going for this color blue, or close enough."
"You're right, you're right," she concedes. "I'm just so excited! I had almost no say whatsoever in your sister's wedding. It's nice to not only get to make suggestions but also not have to pay for them!" You see your father nod in agreement.
Looking back through the dresses you see several you really like but you know they'll show off the slight baby bump you've managed to grow. It's small, you have to lay down to really see it, but you're not comfortable with a dress that isn't at least a little loose in the stomach area. You're also avoiding the sleeveless ones. Your basic bras are the most comfortable for your sore breasts so you want something that'll cover up your bra straps as well.
Your mother ends up handing you several dresses you hadn't seen her pick out. "Try these ones on?" she asks, her voice pleading. Like your father, you know how difficult it is to say 'no' to her, so you nod and take the dresses to the changing room. "And I want to see how you look in each of them," she calls from the other side of the door.
"I make no promises," you intone. Several of the dresses you immediately dismiss because they're too showy for what you want. Yes, they're beautiful, your mother has a good eye, but you're looking for something modest to help hide your body's changes.
One dress, however, definitely gets your attention. White with blue flowers and a blue sash around the middle that could help hide any baby bump. It's even got some cute ruffles that make you smile. You try it on and actually like how you look in the mirror, a major accomplishment.
"I want this one," you announce from inside the changing room. You hear your mother scoff in disbelief, but when you step out she smiles wide and her eyes start tearing up.
"You're so beautiful," she beams. "I definitely agree! It's gorgeous!"
Your father steps up behind her, tears forming in his eyes, "you'll be the most beautiful bride."
Ok lovelies I did it! I wrote the Kuai Liang side of the request for:
Tumblr media
Hopefully you lovelies will enjoy this one! I actually had a really good time writing it which is weird because I usually struggle writing for Kuai Liang verses Bi-Han. I had fun though because I got to incorporate some of myself in this one too since it’s a reader insert for Kuai Liang, the reader, you are my sister-in-law! Fun right? It got a little longer than I expected a little over three pages maybe four? I don’t know Pages is kind of a weird app but really easy to navigate on Apple devices and since I write on my Ipad now using a bluetooth keyboard it seems to do the job, it’s just kind of annoying because there’s no page numbers and no word count, but whatever I guess. This fic also heavily features good brother Bi-Han and depicts the Sub-Zero Brothers in their natural enviroment, aka being antagonistic little shits to one another, but in a very loving way. Anyway I really like this one and hope you will too!
Title: What Are Big Brother’s For
Rating: Teen (some swears, what else is new for me)
Pairing: Kuai Liang x F!Reader, background Bi-Han x Sol (aka me) implied Tomas x Hallvard
Summary: You and Kuai Liang are expecting your first child together and despite reading tomes of literature it turns out the younger Sub-Zero brother has no clue what to do, thankfully Big Brother Bi-Han is there to help.
Author’s Note: As always lovelies please like, reblog, comment if you enjoyed it as it keeps me motivated to write more!
You exhale deeply and bend forward at the waist, extending your arms toward the ground as much as your huge, pregnant belly will let you as you follow along to your “Mommy and Me: Prenatal Yoga, Third Trimester” Blu-Ray. “Inhale deeply and slowly roll yourself upright,” the movie continues as you follow along wobbling a bit as your balance isn’t quite what it used to be. You hear the door open and you’re greeted with a cool breeze wafting towards you as you hear the footfalls of your husband, the Grandmaster inching ever closer. His cool lips press gently to your forehead as you attempt to continue following along with the video mimicking the tree pose. You can’t help but reach out for Kuai Liang’s well-muscled shoulders to steady yourself.
“Are you sure it’s ok to still be doing yoga this late into your pregnancy xīngān?” He asks, his deep voice laced with concern. Being a first-time father Kuai Liang is not sure what to expect or what is safe or not despite the mountain of literature he’s read on the topic, he’s asked his brother what to expect numerous times as Bi-Han was a proud father of four and had been through the ups and downs of his significant other being pregnant. Bi-Han has been an invaluable resource on the topic, but after four children he’s a bit more laidback on the subject and a little more “just let her do what she wants” for Kuai Liang’s taste.
“It’s fine Liang, this is the program for the third trimester, the Blu-Ray says you can do it up to labor, you know I want to keep my body as healthy as I can for our baby,” you beam and happily rub your belly as you try and transition into chair pose, something far more obtainable for a very pregnant woman to achieve. “Oh, that felt a little weird, I don’t know if the baby likes this pose,” you crinkle your nose and try and ignore the sudden burst of pain rippling through you.
Kuai Liang grabs your shoulders immediately in an attempt to steady you, “really xīngān you shouldn’t continue if you’re in pain, you’re due any day now, I’m sure our little one will understand if you take some time off,” his handsome face knits in concern as he expresses his fears to you.
“Really it’s ok, it helps keep my mind clear and not focused on the pain that’s coming,” you say that, but you’ve given up following along with the video, the cryomancer’s strong, but gentle hold on you making it impossible if you wanted to continue in the first place.
“Still, I think that’s enough for now, your feet look swollen, let’s get you in the chair by the fireplace and let me rub your feet for you xīngān,” Kuai Liang helps walk you over to the fireplace but you never reach it.
A loud “Oh” falls from your lips as liquid suddenly drenches you to the core and your feet are soaking wet with the warm, thin fluid.
“Oh, what?” Kuai Liang repeats with concern before realizing what had happened, “oh! Oh! Your water broke!? Your water broke!” He parrots over and over again, panic written all over the Grandmaster’s handsome face.
You groan as a contraction hits and squeeze his cool hand tightly, “Liang, I can’t stand,” you warn before going slack in his strong arms.
“What do I do, what do I do?” The cryomancer repeats over and over as he supports your weight with ease, it finally dawns on him to get you to the chair. He scoops you up bridal style and carefully makes his way over to the plush chair by the roaring fire. He sets you down in the comfortable chair before staring at you like a lost puppy.
You cry out again as another contraction wells up and lights your nervous system on fire, you grimace and look over at your husband, trying to remain calm, “call your brother?” You offer, hoping the older cryomancer might actually have some useful tips or information to deal with the situation, but deep down you hope it's his wife who answers.
“Bi-Han! Yes! Call gēgē he’ll know what to do!” Kuai Liang snaps into action as he makes his way over to the desk in the room to search for his phone, of course, he wouldn’t carry it on his person like someone normal would. It takes him a moment to locate the device as he frantically fumbles to unlock the device and scrolls through his most recent contacts list until he finally comes across Bi-Han. “Please pick up, please pick up, come on you asshole answer the damn phone,” he growls in frustration at the screen as you sit there trying to focus on your breathing.
“What do you want you, little shit?” You can hear Bi-Han’s voice finally answer as Kuai Liang switches over to speaker phone.
“What do I do?!” Kuai Liang desperately asks, not bothering to explain the situation to his brother at all.
“Shit, what’s wrong, calm down kiddo,” you notice the shift in Bi-Han’s antagonist tone quickly switch to protective big brother mode.
“It’s y/n, her water broke, she’s having contractions, I don’t know what to do, I’m not ready!” Kuai Liang laments, his voice cracking as if he was trying very hard not to start crying.
“Dídí listen to me, you have to calm down, you knew this was coming, she’s been pregnant for nine months, take a deep breath,” Bi-Han instructs. “How far apart are the contractions, is the pain manageable? Have you called her doctor yet?” Bi-Han asks in a deep, calm yet authoritative voice, the same type of voice he’s used to calm his little brother down for years.
“I, I uh I don’t know, I didn’t know you were supposed to time them,” he answers sheepishly, red tinting his cheeks.
“Ok, let's start with that, can y/n hear me?” The older cryomancer asks, trying to keep his younger brother calm.
“I can hear you Bi-Han, is, is Sol there by chance?” You answer taking another deep breath and cradling your stomach.
“Sol’s picking up the boys from soccer practice, but she’ll be back before anything crazy happens, she won’t want to miss your little one’s entrance into the world,” Bi-Han reassures calmly. “Now, have you been keeping track of the contractions since my knucklehead of a brother isn’t?”
“They aren’t urgent yet, maybe five minutes apart, but the pain is pretty rough,” you admit and wince as the pain builds up again.
“Ok, Liang, hang up on me, call the doctor, tell them y/n’s contractions are approximately five minutes apart, but the pain is worrying, I’ll be right over, I’m going to call Sol and tell her to meet us at the hospital ok? Don’t do anything until I get there,” Bi-Han instructs the younger cryomancer.
“Ok, ok gēgē, call the doctor, tell them contractions five minutes apart, but painful, wait for you,” Kuai Liang repeats before quietly adding, “thank you,” and hanging up. “Ok xīngān I’m going to call the hospital now, are you feeling ok?”
“I’m ok love, I’m just a little worried, I haven’t been through this before either,” you give your husband a worried little sideways smile.
“We’ll get through this together xīngān if Bi-Han can manage being a father I know I’m more than capable of it,” Kuai Liang scoffs softly not wanting to admit how grateful he was to have his older brother in this situation.
You can’t help but wonder if Bi-Han was as flustered as Kuai Liang is going through it for the first time, knowing your himbo king of a brother-in-law though he probably winged the whole thing and somehow managed to do things correctly, though not without his wife’s help. You vaguely ponder what it must have been like for Sol as your husband calls the hospital and tells them you’d be arriving shortly and going over the procedure for check-in upon arrival, highly impressed at your technology-hating husband’s ability to navigate two phone calls back-to-back. Suddenly the fire goes out thanks to a large draft in the room caused by your brother-in-law’s timely arrival.
“I sent the recruits home for the night,” he announces as you shiver, wondering how on earth your sister-in-law managed to get used to the cold that clung to the older cryomancer.
“Thank you, brother,” Kuai Liang replies and stands there awkwardly before Bi-Han’s large hands clamp down on his shoulders reassuringly.
“You got this little bro, you don’t have to do anything hard, you just wait, your wife has to do all the hard stuff stop freaking out, she has the same doctor who’s delivered my four kids, everything will be just fine,” Bi-Han informs Kuai Liang in a very confident tone.
The Grandmaster just stands there blinking for a few moments before finally coming back to himself, “you’re right, everything will be fine, if you can deal with this I certainly can.” Kuai Liang does his best to give himself a little pep talk as for once Bi-Han doesn’t question his capabilities.
Bi-Han makes his way over to you and crouches down next to the chair before placing a cold hand on your forehead, “are you feeling ok? You don’t feel hot, is the pain ok? Have you been abusing my brother’s hand properly?”
Something about Bi-Han’s simple gesture makes you feel at ease and you’re very grateful your brother-in-law is there in this moment and you can’t help but cry, emotions getting the best of you, but in a good way. “I’m hanging in there Bi-Han, the baby is behaving and not hurting as much anymore, but I get the feeling they’re eager to get here, my contractions are closer together now,” you all but sob as you ramble the information off to the older cryomancer.
“Shhh, it’s ok, you’re doing such a good job,” Bi-Han reassures, petting your head softly before glaring harshly at his younger brother and it doesn’t take Liang long to get the message to come over to hold your hand. “I called Sol and Tomas, Hallvard is watching the kids for the night, they’re already headed to the hospital, is your bag all packed?” Bi-Han asks soothingly.
“Yes, it’s packed, can you go get it for me? It’s at the foot of the bed, along with the baby’s bag and the car seat we borrowed from you,” you steady your breathing as you ask him between sobs trying not to let them turn into hiccups.
“Of course,” Bi-Han leaves you alone with your husband as he goes to gather the things the two of you need for your soon-to-be baby.
“She’s really almost here isn’t she?” You sniffle happily cradling your swollen belly, pride slowly replacing the panic you felt earlier.
“She is,” Kuai Liang repeats softly, “I’m so proud of you xīngān you’re doing a much better job of keeping things together than I am, I was so petrified I didn’t know what to do.” He strokes your head lovingly and places a kiss on top of your head as you tense with another contraction causing the Grandmaster to grimace from the intense pressure you inflict on his hand.
“Sorry,” you grin sheepishly and wipe away the last of your stress-induced tears, “are you ready to be a father?”
Pride gets the best of Kuai Liang as he answers, “if my idiot brother can be a father you can bet I’m ready, I will be the best father out there, our little girl will want for nothing and be loved more than anyone else this world has ever known.”
“Idiot brother who knows what he’s doing,” Bi-Han corrects as he saunters back into the main room or the Grandmaster’s suite. “I’m putting his stuff in the back, with you Kuai Liang, y/n can sit up front so she has more leg room, but I’m driving, no way in hell am I letting your frazzled ass drive right now.” Bi-Han dictates as he heads out to pack up the car.
“No. No! Absolutely not! There is no way I am letting you drive! We’ll never make it there in one piece!” Kuai Liang exclaims forgetting about you for a moment to run after his brother in a relatively normal display of sibling rivalry.
“I’m the oldest, and it’s my car, I’m driving, end of story, besides you’re emotional as fuck right now, you’ll drive us into a snowbank. No discussion.” Bi-Han barks back and Kuai Liang almost winces at the dominance in his brother’s voice.
You cry out from another contraction, “oh for fuck’s sake, let him drive Liang!” You shout at the two squabbling cryomancers.
“Do as your wife says,” Bi-Han hisses and holds the keys over Liang’s head knowing full well his brother couldn’t reach them without jumping for them.
“Fine,” Kuai Liang finally relents, “but you aren’t allowed into the delivery room.” He huffs hating to lose to his older brother.
“Jokes on you kiddo, you aren’t allowed either,” Bi-Han laughs and climbs into the driver’s seat as Kuai Liang makes his way back over to you to carry you to the car.
“Unfortunately he’s right again, only females are allowed in the delivery room love, something about Chinese customs, Sol and the doctor warned me in advance since it's different than what I’m used to,” you explain sheepishly.
“We’ll see about that,” Kuai Liang scoffs as he buckles you into the seat and climbs into the back praying to the Elder Gods Bi-Han delivers all of you to the hospital in one piece.
The trip down the mountain was harrowing but by some miracle, Bi-Han navigated the drive with surprising precision as he pulls up to the hospital’s entrance. “Ok, get her inside, I’ll park and bring the bags in, Sol and Tomas should be there already,” Bi-Han announces as he puts the car in park and idles at the entrance.
“Thank you, brother, I, I mean it,” Kuai Liang replies reluctantly as he steps out of the car and helps you out.
“Please let me walk Liang, I don’t need the hospital seeing you carry me please, it’s embarrassing,” you try and reason with your husband. Unfortunately for you though another contraction hits and you double over in pain causing Kuai Liang to immediately pull you into his arms and march you inside the hospital.
“There you two are!” You’re greeted with a bright smile as a cheerful, busty, pink-haired woman bounds towards you.
“Sol, how did you get here so fast? You barely had time to leave before us and you had to stop to get Tomas,” Kuai Liang greets your sister-in-law and looks over toward Tomas who looked white as a ghost.
“Do NOT let this woman drive,” Tomas merely states.
“I, uh don’t really know how to drive in the snow or ice, so I just floored it the whole way and hoped for the best!” Sol chirps happily as she pulls a wheelchair over and gestures for Kuai Liang to put you down.
You blink at her incredulously, “Sol, you’ve lived in Arctika over 15 years, what do you mean you don’t know how to drive in the ice or snow?” You’re so distracted by your overly excited sister-in-law you don’t even notice your next contraction.
“You think Bi-Han lets me drive? Like Mr. I’m in Control of Everything would give up driving, he only lets me ever drive the kids to school and back since it’s right down the road, and honestly, most days they walk anyway,” Sol explains giving you that looks of ‘you’ve met Bi-Han now try being married to that’.
“R-right,” you stammer trying to be polite as Kuai Liang informs the desk clerk of your arrival and receives directions to your room, and informs him the doctor is on their way from their private practice and should be there momentarily.
“Ready xīngān?” Kuai Liang asks as he takes control of the wheelchair away from the pink-haired woman.
“As ready as I’ll ever be,” you answer trying your best to feel as confident as you can.
The delivery process isn’t as bad as you feared, but you were very grateful for the epidural and your overly excited sister-in-law’s support. You cuddle your little girl to your chest for the first time and cry tears of joy as you’re soon joined by Kuai Liang who can’t help but become overwhelmed with emotion as he openly weeps upon seeing the two of you.
“Oh she’s perfect, absolutely perfect, she looks just like you xīngān,” he whispers softly as Sol quietly makes her way out of the room to give you two some space.
“Come on qīn, I wanna see my niece!” Bi-Han all but shouts as he’s forcefully pushed out of the room and you’re once again grateful for your sister-in-law.
You and Kuai Liang are left in quiet awe as your baby girl coos and opens her eyes for the first time blinking and looking up at the two of you before smiling brightly and making happy noises.
“I think she likes us,” you whisper to Kuai Liang, eyes still glistening with unshed tears of happiness.
“I think you might be right,” he agrees as he squeezes your hand in glee as your daughter’s chubby little fingers wrap around his finger and she squeals with excitement.
“Look, she knows her Bàba already,” you sigh happily cradling her close. “She’s cool like you,” you admire the small bundle in your arms as your emotions overflow with happiness.
“Your Bàba loves you so much little one, so much,” Kuai Liang whispers and allows himself to get lost in the moment, lost in the emotions of bringing a life into the world with the one he loves more than anything else. He hadn’t realized how much fatherhood would change him, but this simple, tiny little girl was suddenly the center of his world and he would do anything and everything to protect his little family.
