Nicholas Galanin, “Neon American Anthem (red)” (2023),
(Installation at SITE SANTA FE activated by artist Nicholas Galanin and curator, Brandee Caoba.)
Nicholas Galanin: Interference Patterns presents a selection of the artist’s new and recent sculptures, installations, and videos celebrating Indigenous knowledge and continuum amid ongoing colonial occupation. Examining the complexities of contemporary Indigenous identity, Galanin unites traditional and contemporary practices to navigate “the politics of cultural representation.”
I use my work to explore adaptation, resilience, survival, dream, memory, cultural resurgence, and connection and disconnection to the Land. My process of creation is a constant pursuit of freedom and vision for the present and future.
Through his expansive creative approach spanning varied materials and processes, Galanin presses for an urgent change of heart, mind, and action, on a global scale. Central to the exhibition is the newly commissioned “Neon American Anthem (red)”, a participatory installation that invites audiences to “take a knee and scream until you can’t breathe” in response to legislated violence and oppression by the United States on those within and beyond its borders.
Embedding incisive observation and reflection into his oftentimes provocative art, Galanin’s work aims to redress the widespread misappropriation of Indigenous visual culture and the impact of colonialism, as well as collective amnesia. His works not only celebrate and build upon Indigenous references; they are also intended to spark an urgent criticality in its viewers. Interference Patterns at SITE Santa Fe in New Mexico hopes to offer vital space for reflection on settler-colonial capitalism’s ongoing role in cultural erasure, forced assimilation, displacement, environmental violence, and the climate crisis.

Emilija Škarnulytė – The Goddess Helix
Da will ich hin :)))
The Goddess Helix weaves together a multi-year cycle of ongoing artwork by Emilija Škarnulytė to create the first comprehensive survey of this series. Comprising film, sculpture, and holographic imagery, the exhibition highlights three interlaced cinematic installations drawing on the research of Marija Gimbutas (1921-1994), a Lithuanian anthropologist who interpreted the prominence of goddess and serpent motifs in Neolithic art. Within this film series, Škarnulytė embodies a mythic guise—part-human, part-aquatic animal—guiding spectators through the currents of contemporary existence. Two pivotal artworks bookend this series: The Code (2024), a newly commissioned twinned-animation portraying pythons metamorphosing from sigils into a genetic sequence, and Aldona (2013), a poignant homage to the artist's grandmother, who is a foundational pillar of Škarnulytė’s own journey. Exploring themes of adaptation, survival, and myth, these collected stories seek to inspire new means of navigating environmental and social crises amidst growing disillusionment.
Oracles, though elusive, serve as guides throughout the exhibition, offering as many meandering paths as they do answers. The paradoxes they raise seem imaginary, but as the poet Muriel Rukeyzer noted: "the universe is made of stories, not atoms". Politics and science also rest on riddles, and their own lore directly conditions the lived lives of individuals. In turn, Škarnulytė's fabled narratives shadow and reconceive the authority of such "atoms", and calls for us to rediscover ourselves in how we care for, perceive, and exist within the planet, its ecosystems, and the cosmos. The narrative device of her folkloric creatures and guides adeptly performs as a vector, delicately peeling back the myths surrounding the stories we create and rely on to navigate life.
Emilija Škarnulytė (b. 1987), a Lithuanian-born artist and filmmaker, works at the intersection of documentary and speculative fiction. Her video works lead viewers through decommissioned nuclear power plants, forgotten underwater cities, and uncanny natural phenomena. Within these eerie sites, where humanity intersects with the non-human, Škarnulytė delves into the myths and remnants of modernity.

the self explanatory
art - all the art i reblog comic - similarly, all the art i reblog that is a comic animatic - any animation video - videos music - songs creation - videos of people creating things, be it art, sculpture, chocolate guy, etc. poetry - poetry, using a loose definition of the term abcdefghijklmnop queue - my queue tag long post - posts that are long puns - puns :D cheesy jokes - cheesy jokes <3 polls - tumblr polls tumblr rp - when people on tumblr roleplay dancing - videos of people dancing!! fairytale rewrites - different takes on fairytales cats - cats current events - things that are happening in the world
the less self explanatory
fic recs - all the stories i reblog fic snippets - encompasses bullet point stories, story ideas, and bits of writing that aren't really a full story original story - the stories that aren't fanfics, whether that be original fiction or personal stories original work - the art that (at least as far as i can tell) isn't fanart tumblr famous - ranges from posts that i've seen at least twice to the truly iconic (for some reason on my blog this tag has a column running through the posts. not sure how to fix it) once a week once a month once a year - all the time-based posts, like thursday the 20th, saturday shorts, the Mar 10 Mario billboard, etc. humanity - people being lovely and good, actually <3 :^) - my smile tag! silly and delightful stuff here signal boost - kind of goes hand in hand with current events; less news and more just info i want to/i think should be share(d)? like, interest checks for fan stuff and commissions posts and petitions and so on liveblogging - this would be in the self explanatory bc it's exactly what it sounds like, but so far i've only liveblogged the enola holmes movie and salted about it being different from the books laksdjf;alj wizardry - wizard posting a good reminder - positivity/self care/genuine reminders à la 'turn over your laundry' 'it's okay to be sad sometimes' etc.
the personal
my fics - all my published stories my writing - includes my fics and various bits of writing (and, if you scroll back to late 2020, a choose your own adventure thing i did) meri monologues - my talk posts m mumbles - when i do a little storying in the tags of a post tk got tagged - tag games! this is a relic from when i went by tk for the first few months of having this blog, but i haven't switched it over bc alliteration it's a good good good good good good morning - sometimes i write about the good things in my day and then schedule it to post the following morning :] an ask & an-on ask - my ask answering tags! an ask is on all of them but an-on ask is for. anon asks kind words - a collection of nice things people have said about me/my writing (mostly on this list so i remember it exists)
all my friends are tagged with (one of) their names and that's it
the warnings*
reblog bait - those "reblog if/reblog for" posts. i usually don't reblog the "reblog within ten seconds for good luck" type posts, but it's there to block if you don't want to see those cursing - if there is profanity in a post it will almost certainly have this tag suggestive - the more nsfw posts i reblog. it's not very often, and it'll almost never be explicit, but this is my tag for that flashing cw & eye strain - the more eye hurty posts
*there's not really anything else that i reblog and warn for with any regularity, but i'm willing to go back and tag posts if you send me an ask requesting it! additionally, my warning tagging convention is [thing cw] or just [thing mention] if it's not depicted. so for example if there was an art post showing blood i'd tag it "blood cw", but a story that briefly discussed someone dying would have "death mention."
the references
reference - just general stuff i want to hold on to for reference baking reference - baking but also recipes in general art reference writing reference job reference ^ all fairly self explanatory
the religious
greek mythology - all the greek mythology related posts i reblog christianity - mostly memey christian stuff tbh judaism - happy holidays reblogs + info about it
the fandoms
my general tagging convention for fandoms is [media name] for any posts featuring it, [abbreviated media name + character name] or [character's full name] for any characters in the post, and [ship name] for any featured ships. so a prinxiety post would be tagged with "sanders sides," "ts virgil," "ts roman," and "prinxiety," along with any other relevant tags. or a post featuring phineas and perry would be tagged with "phineas and ferb," "phineas flynn," and "perry the platypus," because for the p&f fandom i tag characters' full names. exceptions include rottmnt, because i didn't want to type out the full show name, but the characters are all tagged [rise character name] & the mxtx fandoms like the untamed and svsss, they're all under "mxtx" bc i haven't actually consumed any of the stories
i have a lot of fandoms i reblog stuff for but the main ones are sanders sides, miraculous ladybug, mcyt*, dnd podcasts (the adventure zone**, legendlark, and spell check mostly) A:TLA, and dp x dc (danny phantom/dcu crossovers - those posts get tagged "dp x dc," "danny phantom," AND "dcu" (i might omit one fandom or the other if the post is, say, a fic that mostly only talks about one fandom, but it'll have the "dp x dc" tag still))
*similar to dp x dc, mcyt posts will always have the "mcyt" tag, and if there's an associated smp with it, i'll tag that as well. i think the only smps i've tagged are dsmp, qsmp, hermitcraft, and life smps. ngl, my character tags for mcyt stuff is a mess and i don't feel like fixing it legendlark is also similar - each post has the 'legendlark' tag and then the og campaign is tagged 'dames and dragons' and any hrose camp posts are tagged as such
**i don't have one unifying tag for all adventure zone content. each campaign has its own tag - so like "taz balance" is the main taz tag you'll see on my blog - and then the characters are all just [taz character name] (e.g. "taz taako")
#because four years in is the best time to make this post 👍#i'm probably missing some stuff but these are the main ones i think#if i remember anything else i'll add it in 👍#meri monologues#edit: okay fixed whatever glitch caused the links to ride up to the previous line !!

I'm Remy /or Ren, 19, and if you have seen my username on a source like Wattpad, you may recognize me as the weirdo who shipped fruity Hermitcraft minecraft block men. (Let's not talk about it)
I am here to post whatever, whenever. I do various pooptastic variety of things, like making 3D sculptures, painting, and digital art (cough- I haven't touched FireAlpaca in months) all on whatever spare time I have. I revolved a LOT of my digital art on Hermitcraft, but now I am more focused on personal, original projects.
I will most likely NOT take requests or commissions for either art or writing. But boy, do I miss the glory days of taking Oneshot commissions.
I got this app to navigate the wide world web of tumblr. Apologies if you read this whole boring ass schpeel, cuz wtf are you still doing here. Go look at some sick art, dawg.

LA / Life Affirming Moments: En Route
Cynthia Luján & Jorge Mujica Life Affirming Moments: En Route September 16 - October 8, 2023 Opening Reception: Saturday, September 16 7-10pm
SUR:biennial in association with Tiger Strikes Asteroid Los Angeles is pleased to present Life Affirming Moments: En Route, a two-person art exhibition featuring individual and collaborative work by Cynthia Luján and Jorge Mujica. Having successfully worked together on past endeavors, the artists made the decision to embark on a 3-month creative process in what the two describe as a “contemplative exploration of life's pathways.” For the current exhibition, the artists draw inspiration from materials and imagery associated with transportation (recurrent motifs in Lujan’s oeuvre) to construct and activate a metaphorical journey of introspection. Through a fusion of each artists' aesthetics and thoughtfully coordinated 2 and 3 dimensional interventions, the gallery space unfolds like a meandering path, inviting viewers to pause and reflect. Guided by familiar visual cues found in everyday human movement, these pauses offer a serene interplay between individual and collaborative artworks.
For Luján, objects found in public spaces (traffic cones, chain-link fences, painted street lanes, chevrons, signage, cement, asphalt, brick, grass, etc.) serve as surrogates of power as she repurposes and subverts these symbols in an effort to reveal the constrictive fabric of American social architecture.
Mujica’s contributions for this exhibition represent an evolution of his rigorous and longstanding engagement with physical materials. By manipulating flat industrial surfaces, Mujica creates freestanding structures whose carved pathways and varied trenches result in positive and negative spaces that are designed to interfere with viewers’ perceptions. In so doing, Mujica beckons visitors to contemplate the interplay between real space and the painted surface, and the physiological and psychological effects the objects provoke as they navigate through the exhibition space.
By collectively orchestrating these moments, Luján and Mujica have realized an experience and showcase that will hopefully serve as a validation and celebration of each person's unique journey while encouraging introspection and a deeper connection with the artists’ poetic gestures.

Centro Cultural de La Raza 21' (San Diego). Hi-Bye 20', Casa Del Ahuizote 20' (Mexico City). Horse and Pony 18', Copyright 19' (Berlin). And commissioned by the Museum of Latin American Art to create "Long Beach High Five" a public sculpture at Robert E. Gumbiner Park in Long Beach, CA in 2019. He earned an MFA in Painting and Printmaking from Yale University 12', MA in Visual and Critical Studies from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago 10', and a dual BA in Political Science and Art History from Cal State University Bakersfield 08'.
Mujica’s designs are realized through a process of rehearsed drawing exercises that combine automatic movements and a choreographed mapping of space resulting in the transformation of flat materials into his singular free-standing painting surfaces. While acknowledging certain conventions of painting as an illusionistic portal on a flat surface, he also embraces the autonomy of the sculptural object that occupies an actual physical space; a duality in Mujica’s work that manifests panoramic ruptures.

Trajan's Column
I stood in front of Trajan's Column in Rome, Italy, I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by its sheer size and intricate details. The column, which stands at a towering 98 feet, is adorned with detailed reliefs depicting scenes from Emperor Trajan's campaigns in Dacia. It was built in 113 AD and has stood tall for over 1,900 years.
To learn more about this impressive monument, I researched primary and secondary sources. The primary source I consulted was the column itself, as the detailed reliefs provide a firsthand account of the events depicted. The secondary source I consulted was "Trajan's Column" by James E. Packer, a historian who specializes in Roman art and architecture.
According to Packer, Trajan's Column was commissioned by Emperor Trajan to celebrate his military victories in Dacia. The reliefs that adorn the column depict scenes from Trajan's campaigns, including battles, sieges, and the surrender of Dacian leaders. The column was meant to serve as a lasting tribute to Trajan's achievements and to inspire awe in the people of Rome.
I looked closer at the reliefs, struck by the level of detail and skill involved in their creation. The scenes are rendered with a high degree of naturalism, with intricate depictions of soldiers, weapons, and landscapes. The reliefs also provided insight into the tactics and strategies used by the Roman army, as well as the equipment and technology of the time.
While Trajan's Column was undoubtedly a triumph of Roman engineering and artistry, it also had a practical purpose. The column was used as a propaganda tool, meant to convey the power and might of the Roman Empire to its citizens and enemies alike. It was also used as a landmark and a point of reference for navigation in the city.
Trajan's Column is an impressive monument that stands as a testament to the achievements of Emperor Trajan and the skill of Roman engineers and artists. The reliefs that adorn the column provide a unique and detailed account of Trajan's campaigns in Dacia, and offer insight into the military tactics and technology of ancient Rome. As I walked away from the column, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and wonder at the ingenuity and creativity of the ancient Romans.

I wa meant to post this yesterday, but.. I didn't want to so I'm posting it now🤣
I got BERON, and I tried my best to explore his personality, hope you like it💞
Beron isn’t one for grandiose displays of power. Instead, he prefers to influence others through subtle manipulation. He’s a master of the "polite insult," where you’re not sure if you’ve been insulted until much later. His sons often find themselves doubting their own intelligence after a conversation with him, even when he hasn't said anything overtly negative.
He rarely raises his voice, believing that true authority doesn’t need to shout. His quiet, cold tone is often more terrifying than anger.
Surprisingly, Beron has a deep appreciation for classical art, especially paintings and sculptures. His private chambers are filled with works of art from different centuries, which he uses as a reminder of his own superiority—both in taste and intellect.
He commissions elaborate tapestries that depict Autumn Court victories and legends, immortalizing the legacy he wants to leave behind. He views his rule as a piece of artwork—crafted, controlled, and perfect in its execution.
Beron’s court is known for its perfection in presentation. He runs his household with meticulous precision, expecting absolute obedience and attention to detail from his staff. A wrinkle in his robes or a misplaced item in the room can set off a cold fury, but it’s always handled in a controlled manner. He never loses his composure.
He holds himself to the same high standards. His attire is always flawless, and he believes a leader’s appearance reflects their rule. He spends time carefully choosing the colors and fabrics of his clothes, always opting for something that speaks of wealth and authority but never excess.
Beron views his children as tools and assets, not family. His affection, if it could be called that, is measured by their usefulness to him. Those who fail him are discarded emotionally, if not literally. He has no patience for weakness and sees emotions as vulnerabilities that must be controlled at all times.
His lack of fatherly love isn't born out of malice but practicality. To him, loving his children would soften them, make them weak. In his eyes, cruelty is a form of toughening them for the cutthroat world they must navigate.
Beron is constantly planning for future events, often plotting several moves ahead. He plants seeds of discord and misinformation in other courts, waiting for them to blossom into full-blown chaos. He prefers to be the puppeteer behind the scenes, letting others believe they have the upper hand while pulling the strings himself.
He has spies in nearly every court, including his sons' inner circles, and he knows far more than he lets on about their plans and desires. Nothing happens in his court—or even beyond it—without his knowledge.
While outwardly, Beron is austere and disciplined, he has a penchant for luxury in private. His personal chambers are filled with rare, exotic items from across Prythian and beyond. He indulges in fine wines, extravagant meals, and the finest silks, but only behind closed doors. He despises public displays of indulgence, seeing them as weaknesses, but in his private life, he can be quite hedonistic.
His favorite indulgence is an extremely rare and expensive wine that can only be found in the far reaches of Prythian. He considers it one of the few things worthy of his taste.
Beron believes deeply in the traditions of the Autumn Court and views himself as the protector of its ancient ways. While the other courts may evolve or modernize, Beron clings to the idea that the Autumn Court’s strength comes from its adherence to tradition.
He frequently holds traditional Autumn Court festivals and ceremonies, ensuring they are done exactly as they were centuries ago. Any deviation from the tradition is seen as disrespecting the court’s heritage, and he takes such matters very seriously.
Though it’s rarely shown, Beron is a highly skilled duelist. He trained in swordsmanship from a young age and still practices regularly, though he hasn’t needed to draw his sword in an actual battle for centuries. His swordplay is precise, graceful, and deadly, much like his personality
He also enjoys the psychological aspect of dueling, toying with his opponents, making them doubt themselves before delivering the final blow. It’s less about physical strength and more about breaking them mentally.
Beron and the Lady of the Autumn Court have a loveless marriage, but he is intensely possessive of her. Despite their distance, he views her as a reflection of his status, and any disrespect toward her is seen as disrespect toward him. However, this possessiveness doesn't translate into affection or care—he sees her more as a prized possession than a partner.
He is known to become ruthless toward anyone who even hints at disrespecting her, not out of love, but because he refuses to let anyone tarnish his carefully constructed image.
Beron secretly loves the natural beauty of the Autumn Court—the changing leaves, the crisp air, and the golden sunsets. He often takes solitary walks through the forests or sits by a fire, watching the leaves fall. While he doesn’t allow himself to express emotion, this connection to the land is one of the few things that gives him a sense of peace.
He views the Autumn Court’s landscape as a reflection of its power—both beautiful and deadly, a perfect metaphor for his rule.

SJM Villain Headcanon: Ianthe (ACOTAR)-
Ianthe's magic is related to the ground itself, her powers are incredibly subtle but she can notice change before it happens. Know will rain will come, or when there will be times of drought. When the crops will flourish and when they will perish for reasons that may have gone unknown for months if it were not for her.
Because her family does not have a history of such power, nor relation to the High lord's lineage, it was concluded that Ianthe was blessed by the Mother with foresight, and thus was led down the path of becoming a Priestess and devoting her life to the Mother. Ianthe quickly went on to working directly under the High lord because she could provide insight that allowed the Court to flourish more than it ever had before, allowing for Tamlin to have a smoother transition into the throne.
Even Ianthe herself does not know entirely how her magic works. Sometimes it is just a feeling, ones she had learned to distinguish. Invisible hands dragging over her will mean rain and high winds. Intense feeling of paranoia and strange, unending cravings means drought or pestilences in the crops.
Because of her own lack of understanding, it's driven her to a point of needing more and more power to her name. Even just to glimpse the reason why she has this kind of magic, and what it means.

Might we get a partial tour of the more...interesting rooms in Castle Pegasus, before the Shadis and our protagonists wreck the place, or anything there TK'd want for his personal collection while he's there?
Don't worry, TK will get the opportunity to do a bit of Looting while On Assignment
Highlight Reel of Pegasus' Castle:
Topiary Maze: The rear 3/4ths of Pegasus' castle are surrounded by an extensive topiary garden and hedge maze. He was considering ripping it out and starting over with a more navigable and colorful French garden or perhaps a vineyard, but then he managed to hire the most FABULOUS topiary sculptor and his hedges have never looked better. He hopes Mr. Howard Kieth is alright with long-term employment on his island (Spoilers: he's not)
Wine Cellar: Maximillion's father was one of Nihofornia's finest Vintner's and it was the ONE thing Max and his dad agreed on. Pegasus has an extensive (and extremely good) collection of wines, ports and even some whiskeys. He's actually a bit of a menace among sommeliers because he does have the palette to recognize really good wine, and the balls to call a highly-rated wine out when it sucks, once ruining an entire winery in the now-infamous "Bottle Bat Piss" incident.
Personal gallery: he has a public gallery of his greatest works for visitors, but his Personal Gallery is filled with Other People's Art- comissioned works, fanart from artists he admires, works he personally collected, the one drawing he has that Cecellia did, and two of his earliest works, which are very dear to him, and Too Personal for Public Viewing.
Studio: Maxmillion is a painter and he still very much has his hand in the craft. While he hasn't personally painted much in the last few years save a few choice 'commissions' from On High, he still keeps a Studio at his castle, and he's even recently been playing with a composition recently- It's fighting him though, he can see the subject- glimpses of a visiting muse, how he moves with a violent sort of grace and rests with a sculptural magnificence, but the face keeps changing on him and if he focuses too hard, The Eye starts to hurt and he gets the Jitters. Whether that's a warning from the millennium item or a sympathetic pain from the one feature he's sure The Muse has- a huge scar over one eye- is unclear. He's covered the portrait in an old silk robe that his models could use for now. Maybe he'll be able to see things more clearly after the tournament.
Pool: He's a billionaire in Sun-drenched, drought-ridden Fantasy Southern California, of course he's got a pool he never uses.
The Folio: Master copies of Pegasus' most important legal documents, passwords, duel monsters artworks, game rules and other "DO NOT FUCKING LOSE THIS" paperwork lives here. It's got a zillion locks, cameras, climate control, lasers, neurotoxin canisters, fun booby traps that Pegasus learned about while tomb-diving back in Egypt, and 24/7 armed security. You know, all indicators that this is where The Good Stuff is kept.
The Outdoor Arena: The minute Maximillion saw Seto's Hard-light hologram technology, he knew the little shit was going to figure out how to make them portable, and- unsure of precisely when he was going to end up taking the tech from Seto, he told the builders to make a sort of turreted arena with dangerous drop-offs with the idea he might get to watch some unfortunate bastards Duel for literally high stakes in the fine outdoor weather.
The Indoor Arena: Max does know to hedge his bets though, and took the Indoor pool that was in the architect's original design, and with a lot of very excited hand-waving, told him to install a giant holographic arena and extremely dangerous moving walkways in that space instead. The architect was just relieved it wasn't a real blood sports arena because he saw some sketches for something called "Death-T" from the other billionaire he was considering bidding on but CHRIST ON A MUFFIN he's got some standards.
About 80% of the Castle's room is devoted to the stuff that a For-Real Castle's space is devoted to- Dormitories for the Staff and Security, Kitchens, laundry, Janitorial supplies, Guest Rooms and Amenities, Presentation halls and all the other crap that you have to have around when you're actually in the business of ruling.
Pegasus DOES have a room that is functionally a Bouncy Castle within his Regular Castle, because of course he does.
