ab kal ke match ka heartfelt ramble ka waqt aaya hai honestly there's sm energy in me and it has to go somewhere, I'm gonna start off with the tournament as a whole, because some teams like Afghanistan and South Africa do deserve their appreciation as well. They both managed to do what their own teams before then failed to- playing a final and semi-final is a feat worth achieving ✨🙌🏻 and they managed to do it. We saw some good old West Indies back and that brought back a sense of childhood who had seen the likes of DJ Bravo and Chris Gayle play. Now as a fellow indian, seeing the Australian being defeated by Afghanistan and then later us 🥳 only to pin down their hope on Bangladesh- IT FELT SO SURREAL, LIKE YES BITCH CUMMINS THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR BEING SO RUDE (and 19 Nov ka badla hum toh Aussies se bohot baar lenge, with dugna lagaan)
Ind vs Eng, was the ultimate banger for me, the whole transition from a 10 wicket loss to 10 wicket haul was just amazing!! And sometimes we Indians forget the essence of our own bowlers in our team, but this wc was all about bowlers (ours and other countries)- after the ipl bashing, this entire month must have felt so hopeful to them. We got so many players like Bumrah, Maharaja, Rashid Khan, Naveen-ul-Haq defending low scoring matches- these matches that kept us as audience on edge. What a beautiful time to be a skilled bowler!
Now coming to yesterday, as a person that had nothing against South Africa as such but only had love for India- I deeply feel sorrow for your loss. I guess, we Indians know better than anyone how it feels to win all matches and then lose the final. I believe, your captain Markram is gonna do the magic our Rohit Sharma did last night. You just have to believe in him!
And to my beautiful Men in Blue- kal toh dil jeet liya 🥹🙌🏻 Everyone had been so worked up in the entire tournament. All of 11 players deserved the world cup, especially those that had played the 19 Nov. Last night's match was taking my breath away every over, it was so suspenseful and thriller and in the words of Sidhu "yeh match nazuk dil walo ke liye nahi hai" and it definitely wasn't and Bapu tumne toh humari jaan leli kal with that over (jeet mei sab maaf hai) but thank you Sky for taking the catch which people will talk about 10 years from now and thank you Hardik for not breaking our trust in that last over (Rohit did kiss you on behalf of 1.5 billion people yesterday 😚) but more than thank you to Captain that ended the trophy draught and thank you to the Coaches! ❤️
To Rahul Dravid, who was so intense yesterday- Indiranagar ka gunda jag gaya kal full 🥹😂 but thank you so much for making us what we are!! We are going to miss you so much 🫂🥹 and to Rohit and Kohli, we aren't sure if t20i will ever be same without you.
to the indian cricket team, WE ARE SO FUCKING PROUD OF YOU!! 💙🇮🇳

[ad_1] Nicholas Pooran for LSG and Andre Russell for KKR (PC: X) Kolkata Knight Riders Players retained: Rinku Singh (INR 13 crore), Varun Chakravarthy (INR 12 crore), Sunil Narine (INR 12 crore), Andre Russell (INR 12 crore), Harshit Rana (INR 4 crore), Ramandeep Singh (INR 4 crore) What do the retained players bring to the table? The core group of six players retained by the defending champions brings solidity. The three all-rounders—Russell, Narine, and Ramandeep—add depth. The mystery spin of Chakravarthy, the quality fast bowling of Harshit, and a reliable batter in Rinku mean that KKR has all bases covered. Russell and Narine are T20 globetrotters, with a wealth of experience in the aforesaid format, and are proven match-winners as well. Rinku is flexible with the bat; he can play the finisher’s role but can also bat higher up the order if needed. Flexibility is essential, especially in this format of the game. Harshit’s growth as a fast bowler has been promising. He can move the ball off the seam and is clever with his variations. With experience, he’s only going to get better. For the Latest Sports News: Click Here Sunil Narine and Andre Russell for KKR (PC: X) Chakravarthy has led KKR’s spin bowling with Narine since 2020. The leggie has all the variations up his sleeve, making him a tough bowler to face. Ramandeep, a budding finisher, is an excellent fielder and can roll his arm over if needed. The disadvantages of Kolkata Knight Riders letting go of key players: KKR have done well to retain most of their match-winners from last season. The only missing piece is Shreyas Iyer, their former skipper. Iyer adds solidity to the middle order with the bat and is a strong leader, but for some reason, he couldn’t be retained by the franchise. Overseas players like Phil Salt and Mitchell Starc, who contributed to KKR’s success last season, will also be missed. Key Players KKR Aim to Reclaim in the Auction: KKR have no RTMs (Right to Match cards) remaining, which makes it slightly more challenging to buy back players given their limited budget. However, they’ll still aim to re-sign players like Salt, Starc, Venkatesh Iyer, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, and Nitish Rana. LSG’s official post on Nicholas Pooran (PC: LSG/X) Lucknow Super Giants Players retained: Nicholas Pooran (INR 21 crore), Ravi Bishnoi (INR 11 crore), Mayank Yadav (INR 11 crore), Mohsin Khan (INR 4 crore), Ayush Badoni (INR 4 crore) What do the retained players bring to the table? Pooran is a fearsome batter in T20 cricket. Regardless of the conditions, he plays an aggressive brand of cricket, as shown by his overall T20 career strike rate of 148.79. He can keep wickets and brings valuable leadership qualities. LSG has invested in youth, retaining Mayank and Mohsin, two promising pacers of different styles. Bishnoi has proven himself as a match-winner with his wrist spin, and in Badoni, they see a promising young batter with the potential to reach new heights. The disadvantages of Lucknow Super Giants letting go of key players: By losing KL Rahul, they have lost a captain, top-order batter, and wicketkeeper. Quinton de Kock remains a valuable T20 asset, as does Naveen-ul-Haq. Yash Thakur excelled in the middle overs and at the death, and his absence will be felt as well. The retained group of players lacks an all-rounder, which is why they may miss someone like Marcus Stoinis or Krunal Pandya. Key Players, LSG Aim to Reclaim in the Auction: Lucknow has one RTM card available, which they may use to buy back Stoinis, who was their marquee player. De Kock and Naveen-ul-Haq are other options that they would likely aim to recapture in the auction. Alright, so continuing my prev post about Trav's dismissals, only against Afghanistan, he got out on a duck by a right arm pacer (Naveen ul-Haq) in the powerplay. Both in CWC23 and T20WC24.
But they also had Gurbaz wicketkeeping. So that might be the reason for the anomaly.
So ig we can conclude that Trav is null and void against Gurbaz keeping and left arm pacers bowling. 🥲👍🥹😪
===
On the other hand, Inglis has scored a very good 77(33) against SCO today, and all the 3 wickets SCO took have been by Currie (really something there, huh, what a day he's been having. Can't help but appreciate!)
haha no way! i reckon we can call heady gurbaz's bunny even if he isn't actually the one bowling 😆
also omg!? i haven't had a chance to catch up on the cricket yet but i LOVE that!!!

Afghanistan Makes History: Reaches First T20 World Cup Semi-Final Knocks Australia Out
Tumblr media
Afghanistan’s cricket team achieved a historic milestone by securing their first-ever World Cup semi-final spot. In a rain-affected match, Afghanistan triumphed over Bangladesh by eight runs using the Duckworth-Lewis method. The victory also knocked Australia out of the T20 World Cup.
Afghanistan restricted Bangladesh to a Duckworth-Lewis-Stern revised target of 114 in 19 overs. Bangladesh, however, fell short, being bowled out for 105. Captain Rashid Khan’s remarkable bowling, taking 4-23, and Naveen-ul-Haq’s 4-26, were instrumental in the victory.
Earlier, Afghanistan managed a modest 115-5 in their innings, with Rahmanullah Gurbaz top-scoring. Despite scoring 43, he used up 55 deliveries. Rashid Khan then blasted three sixes in his quick 19 off 10 balls, ensuring a competitive total.

Pakistan Super League Severely Hit, Several Overseas Stars Pull Out Ahead Of New Season
Several high-profile international cricketers have pulled out of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) due to the overlapping of dates with other franchise-based tournaments and many cricket boards denying permission to their players to compete in domestic T20 competitions. The PSL begins in Lahore on February 17 and all the six franchises have been hit hard with several players opting for the Bangladesh Premier League, ILT20 and SA20 leagues.
Tumblr media
PSL side Multan Sultans have lost several players they had initially signed up for the upcoming season, with England pace bowler Reece Topley being the latest to pull out due to an injury.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) also said it had not issued a no-objection certificate (NOC) to Topley to play in the PSL.
Some other boards are also having second thoughts about giving no-objection certificates for PSL.
Multan will also be without Pakistan fast bowler Ehsanullah, who has failed to recover from an elbow surgery he suffered last year after the PSL.
Peshawar Zalmi have also lost a big name in Lungi Ngidi of South Africa, while Quetta Gladiators will be without Sri Lanka's Wanandu Hasaranga.
West Indies cricketers Shai Hope, Matthew Forde and Akeal Hosein, South Africa's Tabraiz Shamshi and Rassie van Der Dussen, England's James Vince and Afghanistan's Noor Ahmed and Naveen ul Haq, among others, will also skip the entire tournament.
A PSL franchise owner has asked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to revisit the tournament window, as it is not possible to get big players when three leagues are happening on after the other.
"The SA20 ended recently and the ILT20 concludes on the day the PSL begins, so it is getting difficult to sign big players now," he said on condition of anonymity.
He also pointed out that January-February is a busy season for international cricket series. Sri Lanka are playing a series against Afghanistan, South Africa are in the middle of a two-Test series against New Zealand while West Indies are playing a series against Australia.
"There is an acute need to change the PSL window, else it will lose its charm if we don't get big overseas names," he added.
