It's done! It took longer than I expected, but the #Lilliputian #farmersmarket turned out really cute! I love going to the farmers market- especially the Wednesday one at Lafrenier Park. From young plants to fresh veggies to crafts, there's always a lot to see. I wanted to capture a little of that here.

My kids and I have been drawing with crayons a lot these past couple of weeks and I was surprised by just how fun they are for colour mixing and layering, and the waxy smell takes me straight back to childhood. 

Today was my day being “isolation daddy teacher helper guy” helping them with the work they’ve been set from school. There was an optional colouring activity in there so I POUNCED and decided it was time for a FULL ON COLOUR THEORY intensive activity time. I made these activity sheets and we worked through the first three in half an hour or so, they learned a lot and we had a great time. The fourth sheet is more advanced and I didn’t want to push my luck… 

The crazy colourful images are from our first crayon play session that sparked the whole thing off. They were really interested in how I got the colours to layer and mix. Now they know and I can’t wait to see what they make!

So I think I forgot to post this on here but wanted to share. My nephew got me to try the game Deltarune and I love it! For his birthday, I drew the character Spamton for him. He said he loved it!

@nattosoup​ has a lovely series of inked mermaid drawings I got at MTAC just a few days ago, and I tried to do some filming with coloring them. Sadly, only one ended up not messing up during the time lapse, but nonetheless these were all really great to color. Go check out more of her work, and her comic, 7″ Kara!

Relax this evening and paint with me! This Stashbuster watercolor tutorial utilizes wet into wet blending, masking fluid, and layering to create brilliant baubles. I demonstrate on a bookmark, but this would make a great greeting card or gift tag!

I am proud to say that with this post, I am officially caught up with my MechaCon commission backlog! Now I just need to worry about one more commission from LAGFest and I’ll be caught up with convention commission backlog! 

But I must confess, I was a little stumped when I first started this piece. @nattosoup gave me a pretty free reign when drawing Kara and I really wanted to take advantage of the character being 7 inches tall. Went through a lot of thumbnails with Kara hanging out in gardens & flowers but wasn’t really satisfied with any of them. It was’t until some late Christmas shopping that the idea of Kara at a tea party came to mind and everything just fell into place!

Pretty satisfied with the final result, I feel like I could have stayed true to the pastel color palette I originally had in mind. But it was still a fun challenge to paint all those desserts! Thank you so much for commissioning me, Becca & giving me the opportunity to draw Kara! ♥

Any idea on how to print/bind comics/doujins at home? Just looking for some recs on Printers and paper type to use if possible

Kiriska: Previous home printing recs and discussion are under #home printing. 

Saddle-stitch/staple-binding is relatively easy with a long-arm stapler, though it can be limiting with regard to number of pages and type of paper -- I’ve never done more than a 28-page comic (+ covers = 32 surfaces = 8 sheets) in regular printer paper.

Regular printer paper might not seem glamourous, but for hand-made comics, I think it’s nice to lean into the DIY aspect of it. 

Hand-sewn binding and DIY glue binding are other options. (Perfect binding machines are very expensive, if you were wondering.)
