So I just heard La Zarra's song and what I can say is that I am kinda not underwhelmed or overwhelmed just kinda whelmed really.
So I had no idea who La Zarra was before that but I saw a lot of hype from everywhere that was kinda contagious, so I had high expectations.
I mean the song is fine, La Zarla is beautiful and she has such wonderful stage presence and all that but the song just feels like it needs something to make it great that I can't put my finger on.
All in all its not a bad song and I will probably like it more when I have heard it more. I also can't wait to see her on the stage in may, she looks like the kind of person that is awesome on stage regardless of the song.

How UMK Became The Must Watch National Final
How UMK Became The Must Watch National Final
I was last at Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu, Finland’s selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, in 2017. In a ten song, one night show at a half-full Espoo Metro Arena, attendance boosted significantly thanks to Marcus and Martinus turning up as the interval act and a free bus from Helsinki station, I witnessed a Eurovision National Final that was not amongst my highlights. Here the fan favourite…

Concept: the Mystery Flesh Pit existing in the SCP universe, yet it doesn't fall under SCP jurisdiction because it was originally sold to the National Parks Service, and despite the Mystery Flesh Pit since being shut down due to the incidents, the National Parks Service refuses to hand over jurisdiction to SCP because it's their mess to deal with and contain.
They allow SCP scientists to visit and share information, of course.

Do you think Neuvillette's happy tears cause sunshowers
What a lovely thought! I'll say they do, both because it seems logical and because it's a sweet concept.
Oh to be the Traveler exploring Fontaine under a nice bright sun, feeling sudden raindrops without a cloud in sight, and looking at the Court of Fontaine in the distance with a fond knowing smile...

friend I see you watched the Czech selection! I was already asleep so could you kindly fill me in with the highs and lows? 👉👈
heyyyy of course of course!! 🥰💖
idk if i'm the best person to come to for this (especially the highlights bc... were there any? i'm a miserable girlie >.<) but here we go:
(also side note: you were already asleep? i'm so impressed pls teach me your ways of not going to bed at 1am!!) 🧸🩶
ok so idk if you watched escz last year but the same bloke was hosting and he was somehow even worse than last year. if that's possible.
(he seemed to be reading directly from the teleprompter and not even looking into the camera and he just has the charisma of a a damp paper towel 🤩)
the song that stan twt seemed to be hyping up (pedestal? i think it's called? by aiko?) absolutely flopped hard af. she was out of breath within seconds of the song starting. her annunciation was awful too, i couldn't understand anything she was huffing and puffing about and then she let out this really alarming scream out of no where (not in a good way) and just... yes. it was the definition of a mess.
i think there were 2 boring ballads idk i lost count. they weren't pretty ballads - they were dirge-y ballads. this is why i lost count.
one girl was COMPLETELY FLAT and out of tune. i was seriously wondering if she couldn't hear herself because she also sounded a little out of time at parts too. god that was awful.
now the ONLY HIGHLIGHT 🌟 (and i'm using the word highlight generously): the band MYDY had an up-tempo track and guess what? THE LEAD COULD ACTUALLY SING 🤯 the song is... not my cup of tea but she has good energy and the esc spirit so i'm sure they'll win the nf. it has potential to be elevated at least. people compared mydy to måneskin??? (which... no? they have glam stylistic elements and that's all. the song doesn't sound måneskin at all).
then i think there was a cringey male melfest reject style song with dancers throwing some very sussy (read: funny) shapes and him singing about being "sweet like teriyaki" 💀
and another male led song that relies on drops. super forgettable stuff.
then we are domi performed at the end and that was a bit rough around the edges as well unfortunately.
the only other HIGHLIGHT 🌟 i can think of was just before all the acts performed, lake malawi performed 'friend of a friend' and actually sang in tune and it was very nostalgic and cute. more of this please escz.

Eurovision 2004 - Number 19 - Toše Proeski - "Далеку од мене"
youtube
It's time for Macedonia's tragic hero. Toše Proeski was a very big deal. Across the whole of the Balkans, his name and his voice were household names. A child star, since the beginning of the 21st century his reputation had been growing to major proportions and his performances were huge. He even had a superhero comic book character named for him. Super Toše fought evil to the delight of Balkan comic fans.
He should have been at the 2003 Eurovision Song Contest. He won Beovision to represent Serbia and Montenegro, however owing to the massive number of entries that forced the EBU to finally start holding semi-finals, Serbia and Toše had to wait another year.
In 2004, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia were also back (having been relegated in 2003), so fate allowed Toše to represent his native country. Given his status, Skopjefest made way for a song selection final in which he would sing all eight songs. It's a strong final - many of the songs are worthy.
Далеку од мене (Daleku od mene/Far Away from Me) is by Ognen Nedelkovski and Sanel Suljanović. Of these two, Ognen has the biggest history with both Macedonian Eurovision potentials as well as Toše himself. He wrote Солзи прават златен прстен (Solzi pravat zlaten prsten/Tears are Making a Golden Ring) which finished 3rd for Toše at Skopjefest in 2000. He'd go on to write many songs for Macedonian selection finals over the next ten years.
The song itself is a driving EDM power-ballad that's all about Toše's voice showing just what it can do. It starts off with big drum hits, and squelchy synth bass races off daring him to keep up. This is full-on, high power singing with barely room to breathe. He's missing his love so much that the mountain tops will know by the end of the song. There's even room for a big held note that carries on through the key change in the bridge. That's just showing off. Listen to that crowd at the end.
It nearly became Macedonia's song for the year - just missing out and ending up the runner up. The winner was far and away the favourite, but this was clear in second place too. In the end of course, Toše did get to Eurovision with the winning song.
Just three short years after this competition, he was dead. His fame had only increased, with massive concerts in Skopje at one of which the huge crowd refused to leave. He gave the profits from his last concert to USAID. He died in a road accident just eleven days after that last concert. Macedonia held a national day of mourning, gave him a state funeral and named Skopje's major stadium after him. Toše was huge and only ever shining more brightly when he tragically taken from the country and people who loved him.
