[ad_1] Nitish and Sundar added 127 runs for the eighth wicket. (PC: Debasis Sen) Australia seemed poised for a commanding first-innings lead with India struggling at 191/6, but a remarkable partnership between Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar turned the tables. The resilient duo put together a brilliant 127-run stand, helping India end Day 3 at 358/9, trailing by 116 runs and denying Australia the significant advantage they had been eyeing. The partnership between Reddy and Sundar will go down as one to remember, reminiscent of the iconic Shardul Thakur-Sundar stand at the Gabba in 2021. Over the course of 285 deliveries, the pair displayed tremendous grit and determination, refusing to cave under relentless pressure from Australia’s bowlers. The day began with Australia in control, and that was only strengthened after Rishabh Pant threw his wicket away with an untimely shot and Ravindra Jadeja fell to Nathan Lyon’s precision. With India reeling, Reddy walked in and immediately displayed composure, playing each ball on its merit. Sundar, at the other end, offered steady support, and together they set about rebuilding the innings. In the second session, the partnership began to blossom as both batters showcased their skill and temperament. Reddy anchored the innings with maturity, while Sundar complemented him. The pair frustrated the Australian attack by rotating the strike efficiently and capitalising on loose deliveries, chipping away at the deficit with well-timed boundaries and sharp running between the wickets. Australia’s bowlers struggled to make a breakthrough. Pat Cummins’ short-ball strategy didn’t yield results, Mitchell Starc proved expensive, and Scott Boland and Mitchell Marsh couldn’t produce the incisive spells needed. Even Lyon, who had looked dangerous earlier, was largely neutralised by the two batters. The hard-fought partnership finally came to an end when Sundar fell to Lyon’s sharp turn and bounce, but not before playing a crucial hand in the resistance. Nitish, however, continued undeterred, crafting a magnificent maiden Test century – becoming the first No. 8 batter to achieve the feat at the MCG. As bad light brought an early end to proceedings, India had clawed their way back into the contest. Despite India’s fightback, Australia will still feel they hold the upper hand with a lead of 116 and just one wicket to claim. When play resumes on Sunday, Australia will aim to wrap up India’s innings quickly, while India will rely heavily on Reddy to guide the last-wicket partnership and bring the deficit under 100. Mitchell Starc, the left-arm spearhead, showed his mastery of the pink ball as he took a career-best 6-48 to dismantle India on day one of the second Test in Adelaide. Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first, hoping to cash in on the Adelaide Oval pitch. However, Starc's early breakthrough, trapping Yashasvi Jaiswal lbw with the first ball of the match, set the tone for a challenging day for India. KL Rahul and Virat Kohli were the two wickets to fall, after which Starc went on to destroy the tail of the Indian team. His previous best figures of 6-50 went by the wayside, giving him a stamp as the most devastating bowler in day-night Test cricket. Calistemon, CC BY-SA 4.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0, via Wikimedia Commons Some came through for Nitish Kumar Reddy, like his brisk 42, a piece of which was an aerial reverse scoop off Scott Boland, but Australia's bowlers kept up the pressure, reducing India to a relatively modest total of 180. In response, Australia endured a testing spell under the lights, but early wickets from Jasprit Bumrah, who is also celebrating his 31st birthday today, brought hope. Nathan McSweeney survived a dropped catch and along with Marnus Labuschagne steered Australia into the session, with the match now delicately poised at stumps. Read the full article

Oil Protest Threat Forces ICC To Have Two Pitches For World Test Championship Final Between India And Australia
The International Cricket Council (ICC) have prepared two pitches for World Test Championship Final between India and Australia following a threat from oil protesters who threatened to vandalize the pitch and ground during the match. Keeping the threat in mind the security has been increased at the Kennington Oval cricket ground. The ICC have also made changes in their section 6.4 of the Playing Condition rule making an alternative pitch as per the ICC source. If the pitch gets hampered then they will assess the pitch and see whether it is in good condition to play or not if yes they will continue playing on the same and if not then they will look at the other pitch condition and take a call on whether they can play on the other one or not. Both the captains Rohit Sharma and Pat Cummins have been taken into confidence. If both agree to play after the pitch gets damaged then they will continue and if not then the match could get called off or abandoned. Certain sections will play a crucial role depending on the circumstances that unfold during the WTC 2023 final. First of all, if the on-field umpires determine that it is unsafe or unreasonable to continue playing on the match pitch, they shall halt the game and immediately inform the ICC match referee under 6.4.1. Under 6.4.4, if the decision is to not resume the play, the on-field umpires will assess whether the existing pitch can be repaired and the match can resume from the point it was stopped in consultation with the ICC match referee. The ICC match referee must consider whether this repair would unfairly advantage either side or not, given the play that had already taken place on the dangerous pitch. Under 6.4.7, throughout the decision-making processes that are mentioned above, the ICC match referee will keep both captains and the head of the ground authority informed about the situation. The head of the ground authority will ensure appropriate public announcements are made timely. The WTC final will begin at 3 pm IST from June 7 till June 11 at the Oval, London, a reserve day is also in place if the weather intervenes to spoil the sport. India's squad for WTC final: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, KS Bharat (wk), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Mohd. Shami, Mohd. Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat, Ishan Kishan (wk). Suryakumar Yadav, Mukesh Kumar and Yashasvi Jaiswal have been named as stand-by players for the high-stakes match. Australia squad for WTC final: Pat Cummins (c), Scott Boland, Alex Carey (wk), Cameron Green, Marcus Harris, Travis Head, Josh Inglis (wk), Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Todd Murphy, Michael Neser, Steve Smith (vc), Mitchell Starc, David WarnerStandby players: Mitch Marsh, and Matthew Renshaw. off the rack #1301

Happy Family Day. I'm grateful for my extended family of fellow comic book aficionados. Sharing the love of our hobby keeps me young and brightens my life. I miss seeing many of you but you are in my thoughts.
Catwoman #20 - Joelle Jones (writer) Fernando Blanco (art) FCO Plascencia (colours) Saida Temofonte (letters). Mrs. Creel poisons her party guests showing us what a nasty woman she is. Catwoman fights through a bunch of zombies to get some Lazarus Water to save a friend. Selina's final obstacle will be Mrs. Creel. I can't wait for this story to end. It's been kind of blasé.
Thor #3 - Donny Cates (writer) Nic Klein (art) Matthew Wilson (colours) VC's Joe Sabino (letters). Lots of KRAKKABOOMS this issue as Thor fights Beta Ray Bill. Horseface doesn't have a chance with All-Father Thor boosted with Galactus given power cosmic. Don't build a funeral pyre for Bill yet. Someone comes to his rescue and that person is a surprise.
The Dollhouse Family #4 - M. R. Carey (writer) Peter Gross (layouts) Vince Locke (finishes) Cris Peter (colours) Todd Klein (letters). Alice and her daughter recover from the horrible explosion from last issue but their survival cost them an arm and a leg. When Alice gets back to the dollhouse, she finds there's a new tenant and she's not nice at all. This horror title isn't horrible. You should come visit.
Hawkeye: Freefall #3 - Matthew Rosenberg (writer) Otto Schmidt (art) VC's Joe Sabino (letters). This issue explains how Clint can be in two places at one time. It's dumb but I don't mind because this story is kind of dumb. I like it for the guest stars. The Black Widow shows up and the hero on the last page is a favourite of mine. If the new Ant-Man mini had been this much fun I'd still be reading it.
The Batman's Grave #5 - Warren Ellis (writer) Bryan Hitch (pencils) Kevin Nowlan & Bryan Hitch (inks) Alex Sinclair (colours) Richard Starkings (letters). I don't know if it's just me, but I find that I lose interest in a Warren Ellis story somewhere and this issue might be it. I've forgotten what the mystery is that put Batman in detective mode even though he's following a lead in Arkham Asylum this issue. I like seeing Batman kick bad guy butt as much as the next fan, but 8 pages of it here seems to be padding the story. Methinks this 12-issue story could've been told in 6.
Savage Avengers #10 - Gerry Duggan (writer) Patch Zircher (art) Java Tartaglia (colours) VC's Travis Lanham (letters). Conan and the two Doctors, Doom and Strange, battle Kulan Gath. Guess who wins? This issue made me laugh out loud.
Jessica Jones: Blind Spot #3 - Kelly Thompson (writer) Mattia De Iulis (art) VC's Cory Petit (letters). Now this is a much more enjoyable murder mystery than Batman's Grave. I know exactly what's happening because Kelly Thompson recaps as the investigation continues. There's even an extended 5-page fight scene where Jessica and Elsa Bloodstone fight creatures from the Black Lagoon but it isn't boring because they're bantering about the case all the while. The rest of this 6-issue mini can't come out fast enough for me.
Harley Quinn & Poison Ivy #6 - Jody Houser (writer) Adriana Melo (pencils) Mark Morales (inks) Hi-Fi (colours) Gabriela Downie (letters). Harley and Ivy's adventure comes to an end with a battle between good and evil Ivy. I liked how they left the fate of Poison Ivy a mystery. Who knows how she'll act the next time she sees Harley?
X-Force #7 - Benjamin Percy (writer) Oscar Bazaldua (art) Guru-eFX (colours) VC's Joe Caramagna (letters). This issue features Domino who was rescued from the bad guys recently. The bad guys managed to steal her good luck powers and have transferred them to someone else. This newly empowered individual is an assassin going around killing mutant supporters. Neena's not too happy about that. I wasn't too surprised by the reveal of the assassin's identity on the last page but I'm sure some new fans will be.
X-Men #6 - Jonathan Hickman (writer) Matteo Buffagni (art) Sunny Gho (colours) VC's Clayton Cowles (letters). This issue features Mystique. She's my favourite shape-shifter. She's sent on a mission to infiltrate the space station designed to fight against the mutants. I liked how the flashbacks merged with this story to culminate at the ominous last page.
The Immortal Hulk #31 - Al Ewing (writer) Joe Bennett (main story pencils) Ruy Jose, Belardino Brabo & Cam Smith (main story inks) Paul Mounts (main story colours) Javier Rodriguez (McGowan sequence pencils & colours) Alvaro Lopez (McGowan sequence inks) VC's Cory Petit (letters). We get into the heads of Scientist McGowan and the Hulk this issue. Matters of the mind shouldn't surprise fans what with Xemnu being in this story.
The Amazing Spider-Man #39 - Nick Spencer (writer) Iban Coello (art) Brian Reber (colours) VC's Joe Caramagna (letters). This issue reminded me of the Odd Couple, Oscar and Felix. Spider-Man agrees to be a guest on Jonah's podcast and sparks fly as the two antagonists butt heads. It's all talk radio until the super villain crashes the party. Next issue should be less talk and more action.
Superman: Heroes #1 - Brian Michael Bendis, Matt Fraction & Greg Rucka (writers) Kevin Maguire, Mike Perkins, Steve Lieber, Mike Norton & Scott Godlewski (art) Paul Mounts, Gabe Eltaeb, Andy Troy & Nathan Fairbairn (colours) Troy Peteri, Clayton Cowles & Simon Bowland (letters). This $5.99 US one-shot is tied-in quite closely with what's been going on in Action Comics & Superman. It looks at the consequences of Superman revealing his secret identity and it's well worth reading.
Doctor Strange #3 - Mark Waid (writer) Kev Walker (art) Java Tartaglia (colours) VC's Cory Petit (letters). This is a great one issue story if you want to check this new run out. Doctor Strange fights an artistic demon to save lives.
Gwen Stacy #1 - Christos Gage (writer) Todd Nauck (art) Rachelle Rosenberg (colours) VC's Joe Caramagna (letters). I liked this better than The Amazing Mary Jane maybe because it deals with a younger high school aged Gwen. This story takes place before Gwen and Peter become friends and lovers and involves her father Captain Stacy and his investigation of New York's mob. There are a trio of bad guys that you'll recognise but the big deal super villains don't show up until the last page. If they don't get you to pick up the next issue, nothing will.
Batman: Pennyworth R.I.P. #1 - James Tynion IV & Peter J. Tomasi (writers) Eddy Barrows & Eber Ferreira, Chris Burnham, Marcio Takara, Diogenes Neves, David Lafuente and Sumit Kumar (art) Adriano Lucas, Rex Lokus & Nathan Fairbairn (colours) Travis Lanham & Thomas Napolitano (letters). This one-shot tribute to Alfred shows us what a dysfunctional family Bruce has created. I would have preferred a more touching send off to this beloved character like the one Brian Michael Bendis wrote for Ultimate Spider-Man/Peter Parker. Damian, Tim, Jason and Barbara reminisce about the butler and then Ric Grayson chimes in with a story about Nightwing. Who the heck is Ric Grayson? I thought Alfred deserved better than this.
Nebula #1 - Vita Ayala (writer) Claire Roe (art) Mike Spicer (colours) VC's Travis Lanham (letters). I'm ambivalent when it comes to this cyborg killer but I wanted to see if that might change by reading this 5-issue mini. She finds a scientist who has built a device that can predict the future and has him implant it so it's integrated into her cybernetic system. The untested tech winds up screwing with her head. I didn't change my opinion of Nebula with this first issue and I can see where the rest of the story is going so I'll leave the rest on the racks.
Superman #20 - Brian Michael Bendis (writer) Ivan Reis, Joe Prado & Oclair Albert (art) Alex Sinclair & Jeremiah Skipper (colours) Dave Sharpe (letters). There's action: Superman dukes it out with Mongul. There's drama: The Daily Star is trying to discredit Clark, Lois and the Daily Planet. And there's a surprise appearance of an old friend. There's everything a good comic book needs to grab my attention and want to keep reading.
Marvels X #2 - Alex Ross & Jim Krueger (writers) Well-Bee (art) VC's Cory Petit (letters). I was fooled by the truck driver who picked up the kid because of the red beard, sunglasses and No Fear baseball cap. I thought it was Matt Murdock in disguise but I was surprised by who it actually was. Daredevil does turn up later in this issue as he and Spider-Man help to keep David safe. The kid's important because he could help find a cure for what's infecting humanity.

For the week of 5 May 2019
Quick Bits:
Age of Conan: Bêlit #3 throws a few road bumps in the way of Bêlit’s plans as the Kushites renege of their deal and her drunken “Captain” continues being a jerk. I’m really liking this exploration of Bêlit’s early days from Tini Howard, Kate Niemczyk, Scott Hanna, Jason Keith, and Travis Lanham.
| Published by Marvel
Archie #704 throws some roadblocks in the way of Archie and Sabrina’s relationship through the form of a “Bachelor”-like charity programme set up by Cheryl. I love the even more stylized pastel colour palette from Matt Herms.
| Published by Archie Comics
Batman & The Outsiders #1 is an entertaining debut from Bryan Hill, Dexter Soy, Veronica Gandini, Clayton Cowles. I’ve not read the arc in Detective Comics that feeds into this, but this first issue provides enough information for new readers now to be lost and gives good incentive to check out what’s come before. Great art from Soy and Gandini, with an interesting look inside a team and a compelling start to a mystery about the last survivor from a metahuman generating factory.
| Published by DC Comics
Bettie Page #4 concludes the QE2 aliens caper. Love the art from Julius Ohta, Ellie Wright, and Sheelagh D.
| Published by Dynamite
Bronze Age Boogie #2 continues the strangest Doom Patrol story as the Martian invasion angle has taken hold in the future and a motley crew of heroes bands together to try to stop them. Stuart Moore, Alberto Ponticelli, Giulia Brusco, and Rob Steen are playing with some interesting cross-media influences to tell a highly entertaining tale. It’s rounded out with the usual goodies in the form of prose, letters, and what’s probably my favourite of the back-up strips so far, Major Ursa, from Tyrone Finch, Mauricet, Lee Loughridge, and Rob Steen.
| Published by Ahoy
Conan the Barbarian #6 sees Jason Aaron, Mahmud Asrar, Matthew Wilson, and Travis Lanham tell a story of Conan’s frustrations as a mercenary in the skirmishes between Turan and Stygia. People constantly underestimating Conan is always a fun story.
| Published by Marvel
Deadly Class #38 sees Marcus and Maria return to King’s Dominion. It’s kind of messed up seeing the new status quo, but at the same time the tension that Rick Remender, Wes Craig, Jordan Boyd, and Rus Wooton build here between to old Legacy kids and Marcus & Maria feels like it’s going to explode, suggesting something even worse for the characters is coming soon. It’s very captivating.
| Published by Image / Giant Generator
Detective Comics #1003 reveals the identity of the Arkham Knight. It’s not really anyone you could have possibly guessed, but an interesting addition to Batman’s rogues gallery. Also the cult surrounding the Arkham Knight is certifiably insane. Gorgeous artwork again from Brad Walker, Andrew Hennessy, and Nathan Fairbairn.

The Empty Man #7 goes full Clive Barker as we get an explanation for what the Empty Man really is and how he continues to manifest himself upon reality. I know I keep saying it, but the body horror brought about in the art from Jesús Hervás and Niko Guardia just can’t be stressed enough. Every issue they seem to outdo themselves with creepy and intriguing designs.

Eve Stranger #1 looks to be another winner for Black Crown. This first issue sets up the titular character as a secret agent who seems to need to reboot her memory every week. Why, exactly, is left unknown, but that’s part of the fun. David Barnett, Philip Bond, Eva de la Cruz, and Jane Heir do a wonderful job here with the action and intrigue. Also it’s great to see Bond doing more espionage tinged action, his art always looks so great telling these kinds of stories.
| Published by IDW / Black Crown
Excellence #1 is a thoroughly excellent debut from Brandon Thomas, Khary Randolph, Emilio Lopez, and Deron Bennett. The world and character building in this first issue is impeccable and the art from Randolph and Lopez will just blow you away. Incredible development of a magic-based society and the class structure therein.

The Flash #70 begins “Year One” promising new insight and occurrences during Barry’s origin story. Given that the last time this happened his mother was murdered, changing the timeline and resulting down the line in Barry trying to fix it with Flashpoint, anything’s possible. The real draw, though, is the stunning artwork from Howard Porter and Hi-Fi. Porter is really giving this his all and it shines through wonderfully.
| Published by DC Comics
Hawkman #12 brings Bryan Hitch’s tenure on the series to an end with the conclusion to “Cataclysm”. This is an excellent, action-packed final confrontation between the legion of Hawkmen and the Deathbringers, setting up a whole Hawkman for possibly the first time and hints as to worse things waiting on the horizon.
| Published by DC Comics
Infinite Dark #6 amplifies the terror and chaos as the dead-ish things exposed to the void start spreading fear and panic throughout the station. Ryan Cady, Andrea Mutti, K. Michael Russell, and Troy Peteri ratchet up the horror here.
| Published by Image / Top Cow
Invaders #5 raises more questions after we thought some things were coming into focus in the previous issue, as Chip Zdarsky, Carlos Magno, Butch Guice, Alex Guimarães, and Travis Lanham continue “War Ghosts”. The tension here on the brink of all out war between the US and Atlantis is incredible, and there are more interesting twists that suggest something far more sinister occurring.

Jim Henson’s The Storyteller: Sirens #2 features a gorgeous adaptation of the story of Chinese mother goddess, Nuwa, by Chan Chau with letters by Jim Campbell. The artwork is amazingly beautiful supporting a very sweet tale.
| Published by Boom Entertainment / Archaia
Justice League Odyssey #9 opens up an interesting thread that Starfire, Cyborg, and Azrael may be unduly under the influence of Darkseid. Dan Abnett is setting up some simmering conflict between Jessica Cruz and the rest of the team here, along with quite a few occult catchphrases thrown in to help amplify the mood.
| Published by DC Comics
Lodger #5 is the end to this excellent crime drama from the Laphams and it is all kinds of messed up. We learn what really happened to Ricky’s family and...yeah. This has been a strange, at times disturbing, ride and they stuck the landing.
| Published by IDW / Black Crown
Murder Falcon #8 is the epic conclusion to this series as Jake and Murf take on Magnum Khaos. Between this series and Extremity, Daniel Warren Johnson has proven himself time and again as a master storyteller and it shines through with the heartrending end to this story. This one goes up to eleven.
| Published by Image / Skybound
Red Sonja & Vampirella Meet Betty & Veronica #1 is an interesting mash-up of the three properties from Amy Chu, Maria Sanapo, Vinicius Andrade, and Taylor Esposito. Some nice fish out of water humour as Sonja and Vampirella acclimate to Riverdale.
| Published by Dynamite
Savage Sword of Conan #5 concludes “The Cult of Koga Thun” from Gerry Duggan, Ron Garney, Richard Isanove, and Travis Lanham. Some interesting twists in this finale of what has been a highly entertaining adventure.
| Published by Marvel
She Could Fly: The Lost Pilot #2 sees Martín Morazzo cut loose again with some of the designs and presentation for Luna’s dreams and schizophrenic episodes.
| Published by Dark Horse / Berger Books
Star Wars: Age of Rebellion - Boba Fett #1 features some incredibly rich artwork from Marc Laming and Neeraj Menon. Great detail throughout this story spotlighting Boba Fett’s cold, silent amorality.
| Published by Marvel
Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #32 begins “Unspeakable Rebel Superweapon” as Aphra and her young protege steal the titular MacGuffin. There’s some interesting flashbacks to Aphra’s youth and it’s great to see Caspar Wijngaard doing more Star Wars art, even if just the flashbacks.
| Published by Marvel
These Savage Shores #4 is a sumptuous feast. Ram V, Sumit Kumar, Vittorio Astone, and Aditya Bidikar are elevating the artform of comics which each subsequent issue. The epistolary narrative, the horror and mythological themes, the plays upon the nine-panel grid, the shadowy character designs, the lush and spooky colours, the overlap with historical events, the unique approach and detail in each character’s missive...just one of these elements would result in an entertaining tale, this comic mixes all of them into a superlative package. You’re doing yourself a disservice if you’re not reading this series.
| Published by Vault
The Unstoppable Wasp #7 throws Nadia a birthday party, wherein she learns of her relations to what seems like half of the Marvel universe. Also, issues a death threat to Tony Stark. It’s cute, from Jeremy Whitley, Alti Firmansyah, Espen Grundetjern, and Joe Caramagna.
| Published by Marvel
War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas #1 sets up the conflict in the Pacific with Sindr while introducing a swath of new international characters to the Marvel universe. Also, Amadeus Cho continues to be a massive idiot, even at his shrunken size. Great art from Gang Hyuk Lim and Federico Blee.
| Published by Marvel
Wonder Twins #4 sets up the twins with a pair of dates, allowing for some hilarious misadventures. Also, Polly seems to have a weird obsession with testicular cancer. Mark Russell, Stephen Byrne, and Dave Sharpe continue the fun, even though this one kind of takes us away from all ages material.
| Published by DC Comics / Wonder Comics
Wyrd #3 opens up the messy can of worms of Wyrd’s past further as a figure out of the past he can’t remember emerges for a “meet”. Great tone and atmosphere for this story from Curt Pires, Antonio Fuso, Stefano Simeone, and Micah Myers.
| Published by Dark Horse
X-Force #7 begins “The Counterfeit King” from Ed Brisson, Dylan Burnett, Damian Couceiro, Jesus Aburtov, and Joe Caramagna as past and present threaten to collide. Some nice character development for the team as they wait for Deathlok to do his thing.

[ad_1] Nitish Kumar Reddy with his celebrations (PC: Debasis Sen) Trisha Ghosal in Melbourne The Border-Gavaskar Trophy was hanging by a thread. At 191/6, India’s dreams of retaining the trophy and staying alive in the race for the World Test Championship final seemed to be fading fast. The pressure was immense — not just on the team but particularly on Nitish Kumar Reddy, who walked in with the weight of a million expectations on his young shoulders. This wasn’t just another Test innings; this was a battle of resilience, belief and character. Shubman Gill had been dropped to accommodate Reddy and Washington Sundar, with the management backing them as all-rounders. But with Reddy the bowler trusted for just five overs, it was clear that the team had placed its faith in Reddy the batter. And boy, did he deliver. Having already shown glimpses of his talent with two fearless 40s in previous matches, including a jaw-dropping reverse scoop six off Scott Boland in Adelaide, Reddy stepped up when it mattered most. With a hostile Australian crowd and media adding to the pressure, he began his innings with a resolute forward defence to Boland — a quiet start to what would become an unforgettable knock. For the Latest Sports News: Click Here Nitish Kumar Reddy and his father at the MCG (PC: Debasis Sen) This innings was a masterclass in grit and determination. Mixing caution with aggression, Reddy fought through tough spells, leaving deliveries when needed and cashing in on every scoring opportunity. Luck played its part, as it often does in cricket, but it favoured the brave. Supported aptly by Washington Sundar at the other end, Reddy chipped away at Australia’s lead, one run at a time. The Australians threw everything they had at him — Boland, Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc’s relentless precision, Nathan Lyon’s cunning spin, and they even had to bring in Travis Head’s part-time spin. Yet, Reddy stood tall, embodying the spirit of Indian cricket: resilient, fearless, and relentless. When he reached his century, the celebration was as iconic as the innings itself. After his now-famous “Pushpa” half-century celebration, Reddy unleashed a “Salaar” salute, drawing cheers from the Indian fans in the stands and smiles from his teammates in the dressing room. It was a moment that signalled not just survival but triumph. Reddy’s innings has firmly established him as a player who belongs on the international stage. While Reddy’s batting is already turning heads, his bowling could make him the complete package. If he can add 4-5 kmph to his pace, he could become India’s answer to Ben Stokes — an all-rounder capable of changing games with both bat and ball when they travel to England for a five-Test series next year. For now, though, let’s savour this special innings. Nitish Kumar Reddy has brought hope, passion, and pride back to a team under siege. As the great saying goes, “Cometh the hour, cometh the man.” On this day, Reddy was that man. Best of YouTube: Is AI Safety a Pascal's Mugging? | An event that's very unlikely is still worth thinking about, if the consequences are big enough. What's the limit though? Do we have to devote all of our resources to any outcome that might give infinite payoffs, even if it seems basically impossible? Does the case for AI Safety rely on this kind of Pascal's Wager argument? Watch this video to find out that the answer to these questions is 'No'. Correction: At 6:34 the embedded video says 3^^^3 has 3.6 trillion digits, but that's actually only the size of 3^^4. 3^^^3 is enormously larger. [ad_1] Shubman Gill, Nitish Kumar Reddy with Jasprit Bumrah at the MCG nets (PC: Debasis Sen) Subhayan Chakraborty in Melbourne The Team India think tank is seriously deliberating dropping Shubman Gill, with Rohit Sharma likely to return as an opener for the Boxing Day Test at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground starting on December 26. If Gill is dropped, KL Rahul could bat at No. 3. Signs of a shake-up were visible during India’s nets session, where head coach Gautam Gambhir, chief selector Ajit Agarkar, captain Rohit Sharma and vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah had a lengthy chat for around 45 minutes near the centre wicket at the ‘G’. Later, Gambhir, Rohit and Agarkar engaged in another 20-30 minute conversation in the nets area, while Bumrah focused on his bowling. It was during these discussions that thoughts over the playing XI were shared, with Gambhir closely inspecting the pitch multiple times. While the think tank considers bringing Washington Sundar into the XI and moving Rohit back to open, either Gill or Nitish Kumar Reddy will lose their spot. The team management will make a final decision on the XI after assessing the pitch on the morning of the match. Rohit hasn’t been at his best since shifting to No. 6 in the batting order, following Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 201-run partnership, which paved the way for India’s stellar win in the first Test in Perth. Rohit in the middle-order in Adelaide and Brisbane was unproductive. Meanwhile, Rahul, as an opener, has been solid, and there’s a belief within the team that he can adapt to any role in the batting order, considering his form and confidence. On Tuesday, Rahul spent a considerable amount of time facing Washington and Ravindra Jadeja at the nets, while Rohit practised against the new ball, leaving many deliveries outside the off stump, hinting he could return to opening. For the Latest Sports News: Click Here Shubman Gill with Gautam Gambhir at the MCG nets (PC: Debasis Sen) With temperatures expected to hit nearly 40 degrees on Day 1, the pitch is likely to bake, potentially favouring the spinners. The team is leaning towards including Washington, but the question remains over who will make way for the Tamil Nadu all-rounder, who played in the series opener. Gill, who missed the first Test due to a thumb injury, has scored 28, 31 and 1 in the series so far. While he hasn’t looked out of touch, there’s growing frustration over his inconsistency, particularly in SENA countries. Although Gill isn’t ruled out yet for the Boxing Day Test, his exclusion wouldn’t be surprising. Another possibility is Gill batting at No. 6, if he’s retained. Washington and Jadeja can both bat and bowl, potentially reducing the need for Reddy’s bowling. However, dropping Reddy might be a tad unfair since he has been India’s third-highest run-scorer after Rahul and Jaiswal, with 179 runs in five innings at an average of 44, alongside taking three wickets in 27 overs. India’s likely XI: Rohit Sharma (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill/Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja, Akash Deep, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj. Australia’s XI: Sam Konstas, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Alex Carey, Nathan Lyon, Pat Cummins (C), Mitchell Starc, Scott Boland.
