February is Black History month. Time to remember those who have struggled & paved a path for future generations. As a PoC & an Artist myself, I do feel I too must not allow the lives & sacrifices made by those before me to go in vain. Especially now when our world is in such crisis & division. Keeping an open dialogue with others to address social issues effecting us all, yet many fear to discuss is vital. Not to just talk about such issues but to take action to bring about positive change. When I first began my pursuit in the Ent. Biz, I only wanted to Sing & Perform because it brought joy to others & to myself. But as I matured, I realized I too have made my choice as an Artist. Will I be just about providing entertainment to others alone, will I be all about the Benjamin, or should I use my platform to try & make a difference. Like Paul Robson & Nate Parker, I choose the later. We all can do our part to change the world for the better. Life is so much bigger than ourselves. We all have something to offer. One only needs the desire & faith to do so. I'm excited to begin sharing some brand new songs for my Sophomore album Life with y'all soon. One in particular I call "Someone". I've composed & tracked the music & melody, but I am taking my time to reflect in my thoughts, before I begin to draft the lyrics. But the jest of the song is, "Can two people from polarized & opposing life experiences come together in Love." I feel it's possible, because I still believe Love conquers all. Wow "American Skin" is such a powerful and sad movie. The dialog that goes on in it will have you furious, but black & brown people deal with this every single day! They beat us, kill us, for being "non-compliant" which is a bunch of bullshit in 90% of cases where most are being compliant and unarmed yet somehow our skin color poses a threat. Marching & peaceful protest can "NOT" fix a broken system it was not designed to work in our favor. When the rioting start businesses get burned down that's seems like the only way this topic really gets the attention its need, but still no changes have been made. This day didn’t go as expect for Kaleb. He hated what happened with the fight and he also was even more stressed due to this and on top of it the work level stress didn’t help. He should be sleeping but what Kaleb was known to do was drink. That’s the only good he had going for him. The burning sensation down his throat with the whiskey of his choice as he sat at the bar. Thinking he was alone, only to see Nate near by. With another snip of his drink, the glass was empty and he looked back to Nate. “Don’t look at me like that, I’ve got a lot going on right now.
