Well, this was a lovely find. The Gentle Orchestra is a project headed by Malchi ‘Spidey’ De Montrond. He is clearly adept at two things. Writing great songs and assembling musicians to breathe life into those songs perhaps beyond what he initially imagined. The result is definitely "crooner pop" that makes me immediately think of Maxwell Farrington & Le SuperHomard, and The Divine Comedy. But this also hearkens back to Prefab Sprout and Aztec Camera. And it seems to me that this is the type of sound that The Lemon Twigs are heading to.

But, The Gentle Orchestra is based in Los Angeles, California. Supporting musicians have played for an impressive and diverse array of artists - Sammy Davis, Jr., Natalie Merchant, Carly Simon, Beck and Seu Jorge. Actually, that list could go on and on. The point is, this is beautiful orchestral pop with plenty of chops behind it.

This appears to be self-released.
