How do you think a male Naomi Misora would be?
hmmm, good question! I find manga!Naomi and novel!Naomi characterized a bit differently from each other (in the novel she's a bit funnier and pricklier and less tragic, also a wee bit more gullible, maybe?) So kinda depends which version of her you're basing him on.
But I think overall I'd picture him a little bit like Gevanni, maybe? Both in looks and personality. Quiet, intense and a bit sweaty, focused on a mission, dark black hair, keeps to self quite a bit. Still wears a leather jacket and drives a bike. Probably in a marriage that the fandom is equally unhappy about as they are about Naomi and Raye, only genderswapped. So maybe his wife would be something like uh. Eva in Naoki Urasawa's Monster? Materialistic and selfish and spoiled and bullying of him.

Tag People You Want to Get To Know Better!
Tagged by @therealnightcity & @merge-conflict Thank you! And thanks for waiting, took me a hot minute to get around to this.
Favorite Color: It's actually orange. Like deep orange not neon. I'm a sucker for rich autumn palettes.
Currently Reading: Ha...... Nothing atm. I've read a couple short fics, but been too busy writing and working on other things to read anything more than a couple thousand words. I'm trying to remember the last thing I actually sat down and read... Vol. 1 of a manga called Monster by Naomi Urasawa when I was on vacation. Last September. Really would like to finish it, it's been on my list for years lol. My stack of things to catch up and read is massive.
Last Song: Little Bird by The White Stripes (I forgot how much I loved them)
Last Movie: John Wick 4
Last Series: The Last of Us (pretty faithful adaptation) and been rewatching The Simpsons (low investment, episodic)
Sweet, Savory, or Spicy: Savory and spicy. I like lightly sweet stuff, but I'm always in the mood for salt.
Craving: Ramen and popcorn. Summer.
Tea or Coffee: Coffee. Though tea is nice when I want something lighter and more refreshing.
Currently Working On: Have I mentioned my VxRiver Ward/conspiracy theory fic I'm working on? (340k words and counting... Curse me, my tin foil hat, and my love of prose.) Also, have an art commission I need to get working on 🙃 and my CP2077 VP series.
Uh, tagging... @shimmer-like-agirl @vox-monstera @velmesh @ladykatie512 @setaflow
Merry Christmas?

Death Note AU of Urasawa's Monster in which Mr. Lunge is the main detective for a mysterious serial murder case. Dr. Tenma is the number one suspect and Lunge can't let it go, assuming he has a double personality.
In truth, Johan has the death note and Roberto gets the shinigami eyes to help him out. Johan uses the note to kill Dr. Heinemann and the other two doctors in a similar scenario to canon, after Dr. Heinemann tells Tenma his career is over. Nina ends up with the second death note, which helps her and Tenma's unofficial/unfunded investigation.
Eva often finds herself at the official investigation headquarters because Mr. Lunge is suspicious of Dr. Tenma and they were engaged until just before Dr. Heinemann's death. Mr. Grimmer is also interested in the case for personal reasons so he's a Naomi Misora type character. Jan Suk is Matsuda.

My Favorite Books by Genre
I decided to make a post with my favorite books in every genre (those I rated 4.5 stars or higher). I don't count "classics" as a genre or YA (that's a target audience) or comics (that's a medium). Some of these can fit in more than one genre, but I went with the main one they are categorized in. I haven't reread some of these in years so I might change my mind about those when I do.
Contemporary
Tumblr media
Since my recent discovery that contemporary isn't all about romance or soap opera drama (shocking) I want to explore this genre more. Only if the synopsis appeals to me.
"Convenience Store Woman" by Sayaka Murata
"Solanin" by Asano Inio
"Yotsuba&!" by Kiyohiko Azuma
"The Travelling Cat Chronicles" by Hiro Arikawa
"Loveless" by Alice Oseman
Fantasy
Tumblr media
Clearly this is the genre I read and enjoy the most, but sometimes I need to mix it up with something else even though fantasy has so many sub-genres.
Realm of the Elderlings series by Robin Hobb
"The Forgotten Beasts of Eld" by Patricia A. McKillip
First Law series by Joe Abercrombie
"Howl's Moving Castle" by Diana Wynne Jones
"The Goblin Emperor" by Katherine Addison
"Piranesi" by Susanna Clarke
"The Seventh Bride" and "The Raven and the Reindeer" by T. Kingfisher
"The Poppy War" and "The Dragon Republic" by R. F. Kuang (yes, I am leaving the 3rd book out on purpose)
Raybearer duology by Jordan Ifueko
"Wyrd Sisters", "Men at Arms" and "Reaper Man" by Terry Pratchett
"Daughter of the Forest", "Son of the Shadows" and "Wildwood Dancing"by Juliet Marillier (needs reread)
"The House in the Cerulean Sea" by T.J. Klune
"The Empress of Salt and Fortune" and "When the Tiger Came Down the Mountain" by Nghi Vo
"The Lord of the Rings" by J.R.R. Tolkien (needs reread)
"The Song of Achilles" by Madeline Miller
"Spinning Silver" by Naomi Novik
"Silver in the Wood" by Emily Tesh
"Pandora Hearts" by Jun Mochizuki
"Nimona" by Noelle Stevenson
Mystery
Tumblr media
I genuinely thought I would have more on this one, but turns out most mysteries I read are all by the same author ahah Honestly, this is a genre I only look for if I feel like solving a puzzle and I like these novels to be quick and short.
"And Then There Were None" and "Murder on the Orient Express" by Agatha Christie (needs reread)
Science Fiction
Tumblr media
I am a fan of low scifi and short novels for this genre. I usually prefer dystopias even though it can get too similar if I read a bunch of them at once.
"Kindred" and "Parable of the Sower" by Octavia E. Butler
"Frankenstein" by Mary Shelley
"The Left Hand of Darkness" by Ursula K. Le Guin
"The Fifth Season" by N.K. Jemisin
"Animal Farm" by George Orwell
"Flowers for Algernon" by Daniel Keyes
"The Illustrated Man" by Ray Bradbury (needs reread)
The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins (needs reread)
"Pluto" and "20th Century Boys" by Naoki Urasawa (needs reread)
Historical Fiction
Tumblr media
I definitely need to read more in this genre because I do enjoy it a lot when it has complex characters and focuses more on the fiction part of historical fiction.
"The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" by Taylor Jenkins Reid
"Fingersmith" and "The Little Stranger" by Sarah Waters
"The Color Purple" by Alice Walker
"Of Mice and Men" by John Steinbeck (needs reread)
"The Women of Brewster Place" by Gloria Naylor
"The Tenant of Wildfell Hall" by Anne Bronte (needs reread)
Horror/Thriller
Tumblr media
I am more of a fan of gothic horror or psychological thrillers. I definitely need to read more of those though.
"The Picture of Dorian Gray" by Oscar Wilde - This one is actually categorized as philosophical fiction and decadent literature according to wikipedia. However, it has elements of horror and fantasy.
"We Have Always Lived in the Castle" and "The Haunting of Hill House" by Shirley Jackson
"Sharp Objects" and "Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn
"Confessions" by Kanae Minato (needs reread)
"The Talented Mr. Ripley" by Patricia Highsmith (needs reread)
"Monster" by Naoki Urasawa
Romance
Tumblr media
Romance is definitely a hard sell for me. I am fine with it as secondary plot, but when it's the main one that is harder.
"Pride and Prejudice" and "Mansfield Park" by Jane Austen
Nonfiction
Tumblr media
I recently found out that it's possible to write nonfiction that isn't boring. I still need to find more of those. Maybe the graphic novel format also helps.
"Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood and the Story of a Return" by Marjane Satrapi
"My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness" by Kabi Nagata
"Elephants on Acid and Other Bizarre Experiments" by Alex Boese

Leonardo reminds me of Johan Liebert from the anime/manga Monster by Naomi Urasawa so much smh, like, whenever Leonardo shows up I just invision Johan lol. If you’ve never watched Monster I would recommend it btw! It’s a crime and psychological thriller and I think you’d enjoy it a lot, last time I checked all the episodes were on YouTube 👀
I absolutely love Monster, it's one of the few animes/manga that always stuck in my mind forever. It's one of my favorite mangas/animes. Leonardo and Johan have horrifying links to each other; obsession with family and pure sociopathy. If they're finally up on youtube I am absolutely bringing it right now 👀
The whole horrifying mentality of Liebert--his sister, the nightmarish way he went about his life--stuck in my mind for a long time afterward. That single scene where he offered the money to the whore to buy her balloon really struck me.
His blonde and pale perfect features really do resemble Leo too as well--these amazing fanarts put me in thought of Leonardo incredibly.

131° Resenha do dia 2021 Monster - Kanzenban Volume 9/9 . . RECOMENDO NOTE 10! . . #Coleção #Colecionador #Mangá #Monster #NaokiUrasawa #Panini #PlanetManga #Resenha #Review #Comic #GraphicNovel #Monstro #MonsterKanseiban #DrTenma #Hq #leitura (em São Raimundo Nonato) https://www.instagram.com/p/CO74c1ujSLC/?igshid=1mgz6jxvr40zj

pretty asks - silk, joy, parchment? :>
“Silk; what outfit makes you feel confident?”Just whatever I felt like wearing on the day most of the time.
“Joy; best feeling you’ve ever experienced?”The surprise of passing a test you were absolutely certain you were gonna fail.
“Parchment; favorite book?”I’m going to have to say Monster by Naomi Urasawa. I know it’s technically a manga, but… Ya know.

Monster - Kanzeiban Volume 6/9 . .
