Babysitting
I used a wheel to determine which guys I'd write for~
Tumblr media
Intro:
"So…Why do you have a stranger's kid?…" (Y/n)'s lover stared blankly at her; a singular eyebrow quirked as he watched how she cradled a sleeping child to her chest. "One of my friends amongst the seamstresses is having to babysit her nephew because her sister is ill, since I've already finished all my commissions I offered to watch him for her." She giggled, gently brushing her fingers over the child's chubby cheeks. Her lover seemed skeptical about toting a kid around the castle, but because of how much fun she seemed to be having he had been willing to just let it happen.

Shingen
The large male chuckled from where he sat next to (Y/n), sipping his tea as he watched his lover settle the baby in her lap so that he was sitting up with his back against her torso. She was currently entertaining the baby with a puppet his aunt had brought from home for him, she was so focused on the giggling baby that she hadn't noticed Shingen's loving stare. At first, he wasn't sure about having an infant in the castle, but (Y/n) had handled every moment like a champ. Even the infant's cries hadn't been enough to frazzle her, instead she went about soothing him with a smile. The scene was enough to make him think, he had been with (Y/n) for some time now and since they were officially married the next logical step was a family. It wasn't something he had put much thought into previously, but seeing his wife playing with and taking care of this baby was enough to have him confronting himself over his own thoughts and feelings of the future. Shingen didn't come out of these thoughts until (Y/n) moved to sit beside him, the little baby giggling happily as its tiny hand grabbed hold of his sleeve. With a warm smile and large gentle hands, Shingen lifted the baby up to his level. "Not even 3 years old and you're a lady killer, what are you parents gonna do with you?" The baby giggled loudly as Shingen gently bounced him up and down, (Y/n) taking the moment of freedom to snag a skewer of mochi and begin digging into her own snack. "He really is adorable; his parents must have amazing genetics." (Y/n) giggled, watching her husband play with the baby boy was she ate her snack. She couldn't help but focus on her lover's grinning face, she took a good hard look at his features as she did her best to imagine him as a baby. She'd be lying if she claimed to have never thought about having a family with him, many early mornings were spent getting ready together and wondering how things would change when they had a child of their own. She couldn't help but gaze at the love of her life, wondering what he had looked like as a baby. Given how big Shingen was, she was confident he was the chubbiest of babies. A thought that made her cheeks flush as she smiled, the thought of having a chubby baby just made her happy.
Of course, Shingen had similar thoughts, especially when they walked through the Castel town and the children would recognize his goddess. The way they get so excited, wanting nothing more than to play and talk with the woman he loved. Sometimes he found himself daydreaming, wondering when the day would come that he'd be looking up from his desk to find his dear wife nurse the fruit of their labors. He's already worked out a few designs for some baby furniture, wanting to make it himself so he knew it was made right. He and his wife had discussed the baby furniture of the future before, the things she described gave him a lot of inspiration. "He's quite small, I was almost afraid to hold him at first." Shingen chuckled, resting the little boy on his leg and gently bouncing him. The large man couldn't help but chuckle as the little boy squealed happily, tiny hands gripping Shingen's sleeves as he bounced comfortably. "i know, it's been so long since I last babysat. When I first saw him, I was almost surprised he wasn't smaller, I forget sometimes they aren't as small as dolls." She giggled, reaching over to gently brush her hand against the thin layer of hair on the little boy's head affectionately. "Perhaps it's my height, but all babies seem absolutely tiny to me." Shingen chuckled, watching her give the boy some affection as she ate. "Probably, you are bigger than most other grown men so I can only imagine how little he must look to you." She giggled, putting down her skewer as she moved closer to Shingen and leaned into his side. She wrapped her arms around one of his, her head resting on his shoulder as she closed her eyes with a soft smile. Shingen could only chuckle, the little boy leaning back against his chest as he seemed to finally tucker himself out. "Now that's a good idea…" Shingen's low voice rumbled in his chest as he spoke softly, gently shifting the little boy to rest in his arm. "Since you finished your snack, why not come here and join me for a nap. The weather is wonderful." Shingen opened his arm, leaning back against the wall as his dear wife smiled at him and shook her head in mock-shame. "I suppose a nap won't hurt." She moved closer to him, slipping under his arm now and snuggled into him as she rested her head on his chest. Shingen had the boy cradled on his lap, leaning against his torso comfortably. It didn't take long for (Y/n) to sleep, Shingen had stayed awake a bit longer though. He wanted to enjoy the sight of holding his lover like this, looking down on the boy and that was how he KNEW it was about damn time he spoke to his wife about starting their family.

Kanetsugu
Kanetsugu stood speaking before a crowd of other vassals, it was a pretty standard meeting so why were these men staring at the man of the house? Because sat on his hip as he spoke was a 3-year-old girl, she was awake but quite content with the gentle bouncing and the sound of Kanetsugu's voice. His wife had to run into town to buy some stuff, so he had offered to watch the little girl since he had nothing to do after this meeting was over with. The little girl had been absolutely smitten with Kanetsugu, lighting up every time she saw him in a way similar to how his wife seemed to brighten whenever he'd come home at the end of the day. It made Kanetsugu chuckle whenever he saw it, this little girl reminded him of both his wife and his younger siblings. He took great part in raising his siblings, he remembered when they were all little like this and those memories were quite dear to him. At the end of the meeting Kanetsugu made his way to the kitchen, paying no mind to the odd stares he got and the whispers that followed him down the hall. He wanted to get the little girl a snack, so he planned to fix her some peaches since they were soft and easy to eat. On his way there he noticed his lover on her way down the hall. She was coming from the direction of their room, meaning she had dropped off her shopping. The young woman's face lit up; he couldn't help but give a slight smile at how she rushed up to him with her own wide grin. "I take it the meeting is over? Thanks for watching her while I ran into town." (y/n) smiled, reaching out to playfully poke the little girl's side and listen to her giggle. They exchanged the little girl, who had smuggled into (Y/n)'s chest. No doubt the woman was a bit more comfortable to lay on, for obvious reasons. "I was on my way to the kitchen to get her a snack, so it's perfect timing on your part. It'll be easier than cutting a peach one handed." He gently took her hand, since getting married, he had begun doing this any time they were together. She was his wife, something he was proud of and more than willing to display. "Food sounds good, lunch should be coming round soon. So hopefully she'll be done eating before then and we can eat without too much trouble." (Y/n) smiled up at Kanetsugu, the little girl resting on her arm and curled against her chest. She was sucking on her thumb, content with the steady sway of the woman's walk cycle.
"Maybe if we're lucky we can put her down for a nap after her snack, she hasn't had one today yet so it's about that time anyways." Kanetsugu lead his lover to the kitchen, his free hand running through his own hair as he found his gaze wandering away from the sky as he took in the sight of his lover with her friend's baby. It was such a domestic sight, something that made an odd feeling stir in him. He had never actually thought about it in depth, he knew he wanted a family, but he had never put a whole lot of thought into it. But confronted with the glimpse before him, it was like something was stirring awake. He no longer just wanted a family with her, he needed one. The thought of having evidence of their love made his heart speed up, a sort of primal shift growing inside of him at the thought of her having his child. It wasn't just animalistic desire though; his protective instinct was starting to twitch awake. To have a family with his wife, that would truly be his peace. It was like a new goal came into focus; one he couldn't wait to discuss with her later once the little girl had gone home with her mother for the night. So, for now he had to settle for gently squeezing her hand, giving her a fond gaze as he watched her talk about her experience at the market. When her gaze suddenly caught his, he leaned in and pressed a gentle kiss to her lips. Leaving her flustered as he released her hand and stepped through the threshold and into the kitchen. She stood at the doorway, watching him with curiosity as she failed to fight the love-struck smile that crossed her face when watching the man, she loved prepare food for the little girl in their care.

Motonari
Motonari watched his wife with a grumpy pout, on her lap was a 4-year-old that had proven to be the bane of this man's existence. This little boy would not accept anyone but her, and God forbid Motonari be allowed to hug or touch his wife. The boy didn't throw a hissy fit, oh no, worse yet the little boy would hold his palm out to Motonari with a firm but docile "No." With the most expressionless stare Motonari has seen in his life, he hadn't been able to so much as hug his wife with this little boy around. The kid refused to be held by anyone else, he was always giving Motonari such a blank faced stare and it never failed to make the man laugh out of mild frustration. The more he thought about it, the more ridiculous he felt. He was competing with a kid for his wife, and it wasn't even his kid. At the end of the day, this kid goes home with someone else, so there is NO competition. Each time Motonari reminded himself of this, rolling his eyes at the jealous side that was near desperate to hold her hand. Though there was some odd part of him that was satisfied with watching his wife interact with this little boy, even when he was fussy, she was calm as can be when handling him. Plus, there was the pride he took in having a wife so loved by so many people, she was the prize jewel out of all his treasures. Currently the two were waiting for the little boy's aunt, (Y/n)'s friend, to come and pick up the little boy for the night. The sun was an hour or two from setting, and he was doing his best to be patient as he had a staring contest with the little boy. At least until the child reached out to him, making a grabby motion that had (Y/n) lighting up. "Aw, he wants you to hold him!" She was excited, moving closer to Motonari, who for just a moment was panicking, he did not have a plan for this particular option. So he had let his wife lead him into holding the little boy on his lap, the boy sat with his back to Motonari's chest. His little head was leaned back on Motonari's collarbone, he still had one hand holding onto (Y/n)'s finger so she had to sit against Motonari's side. Seizing his chance, he slid his free arm around her waist as his other was draped over the boy's stomach to keep him steady.
"I guess you respecting his boundaries earned his trust, that's so sweet." She smiled brightly, nuzzling Motonari's shoulder in a way that never ceased to make him melt inside. This was a situation he had never imagined in his life, the male having never actually thought about having kids of his own. Sure, he knew kids existed, but he never thought about HIS kids existing. This whole situation felt so surreal, looking down at his lover and this child no longer felt real. All of a sudden it felt dreamlike, as if he was discovering something for the first time. A wide array of emotions overwhelmed him, from a strange anxiety to what could only be described as an intense contentment. He had come a long way from the person he was when he and his wife first met, but even still to have such a large discovery out of nowhere was almost startling. He hadn't felt like this since he first realized he truly loved his wife; it was a feeling that could be described with the word emotion. It was so much at once, and yet he felt calm in an odd way. His face was flaming, silently staring at his lover as he processed everything. Of course she had noticed his stare, she had trying speaking to him, but he never responded and now she was simply flustered by the look he was giving her. It was almost innocent, the flustered look mixed with confusion and surprise. Leaning forward she placed a gentle kiss to the tip of his nose, suddenly bursting the bubble he had previously been absorbed in. It took every ounce of self-control in him not to jump, he had already embarrassed himself enough today. The hand that had been around her waist came up, pulling her close and tucking her head into the crook of his neck as he tried to hide his flustered state. These new realizations had him feeling energized in an odd way, he simply had to have her close right now. He knew the look on his face was probably quite out of character for him, and he was embarrassed to admit how little control he actually had over his current behavior. He wanted to hide his emotional state, and what better way to do that then basking in the affection and the touch of his wife that he had wanted all day. Once the boy was returned, he planned to spend the rest of the day and night with his wife in their room. He wanted only her presence, only her voice and scent. Only her.
Tumblr media
Masamune
(Y/n) currently sat at a banquet between her boss Nobunaga and her lover Masamune, across from her was Mitsuhide and Hideyoshi. Meanwhile in her lap was a 1-one-year old little girl, the niece of a friend that was taking care of her sister until the woman's husband got home from work. Because of that (Y/n) had brought the baby to the banquet, it was fairly late, and the baby was full from where (Y/n) had taken the baby home long enough to eat and give the mom a chance to see her. The little girl had been quite content after eating, and so now she was happily babbling away at Keiji while Masamune fed his wife a bit of rice. "I shouldn't be surprised you volunteered for such a task; you always do manage to find the most amusing situations." Mitsuhide chuckled from across the woman, drinking some sake and letting a servant refill it. "She was a little fussy at first, but once she got comfortable with us it got a bit easier. Her aunt should be back to get her soon. She's just waiting for the woman's husband to come home to take care of his wife." Masamune chuckled, sitting close to his lover's side as he'd raise bites for her to take and fed her her meal before he had even touched his. He had spent most the day doing paperwork, which left (Y/n) to bear the brunt of the child's care. He wanted to give her a small break and help out now that he wasn't busy, plus he had been wanting to give her some love all day. She was just too cute, playing with and fawning over the baby girl currently in her arms. Looking at the little girl he could admit she was cute, but he just knew their baby would be even cuter. If he had a little girl that looked just like his wife, he'd be over the moon. In truth he wanted a larger family, something he and his lover had discussed many times. They want quite a few children; they hadn't really been trying for kids as of late but also hadn't been avoiding it either. But today made him feel it was time, seeing the way she cared for the little girl, even when she screamed and cried, had reaffirmed in him that they could do this, and it was about time to take the first steps officially.
Once his wife had finished her food he had set the chopsticks down, using one hand to hold one of her own as the other brought his cup of tea up to his lips so he could take a sip. "It seems so natural; I was worried you'd struggle with her when I first saw you in the halls this morning. But you seem to have everything under control." Hideyoshi smiled, taking a bite of some roasted vegetables while observing the baby girl in his friend's lap. Despite all the noise she almost seemed ready to fall asleep, the group laughing at how her tiny head bobbed before she finally gave up and completely rested across the woman's lap as her haori functioned as a makeshift cover. "I won't lie it was hard to be calm sometimes, but I eventually found a good rhythm for cycling through what she wanted or needed until I could find what I needed. Then it just kinda got easier to tell what she was wanting, plus after visiting her mom to drink her fill she's been quite content and a lot less fussy." (Y/n) giggled, gently rubbing the baby's stomach with her free hand. She watched the baby sleep with a fond gaze, her mind wandering to places that her observant friends could easily predict. For Nobunaga, Mitsuhide, and Hideyoshi; it was the same look Masamune got any time they noticed him watching her interact with the little girl. Oh yes, they knew it was only a matter of time before they had children running about the castle whenever the pair would come to visit from Aoba. "Well, at least you'll have practice for when you and Lord Masamune have a child. It'll be quite the sight to see." Mitsunari spoke openly with a fond smile on his face, and as flustered as it made her, (Y/n) couldn't fight the smile she felt forming on her face. She'd be lying if she said taking care of the little girl made her wonder how things would be when they DID have their own child, she'd love to have a little boy that looked just like her husband. Though she had known for a while she wants more than one child, as aware as she is of what childbirth is like in this era she wouldn't miss the chance to have the family she desires with the man she loves. "You guys will be the first we tell when I fall pregnant, I promise Mitsunari." She giggled some, at least until she felt Masamune's arm wrap around her waist. "It'll be more than that, we'll be staying here during your pregnancy that way I can be sure of your safety. Plus, Ieyasu will be a boon to have on standby." The blonde let out an indignant snort but said nothing back. The fussy blonde being surprisingly quiet about Masamune's desire to have him care for Hime in such a state, and none of the other warlords seemed bothered at the idea of a pregnant woman waddling around the castle. Something that both embarrassed (Y/n) and made her feel overjoyed, as she knew she had everyone's support when it came time for this new step in her life.
Tumblr media
Kenshin
Everyone stared intently at the trio during a war council, sitting in his usual place was Kenshin. And as per usual, he was the one making a scene. In his lap sat his wife, odd but not entirely unexpected. And then on her lap was a little boy, a 4-year-old she had volunteered to watch during the day for her friend who was caring for an ill family member. The group had been stuck at the hip since the little boy's arrival, though at first Kenshin had been a little jealous and that had been why he was being more openly affectionate than usual. But it was less than 2 hours before his reasoning shifted, some part of him deeply enjoyed watching his wife happily interact with the child. He had thought about having a family with her for many years, even before they had married. Though he had yet to put his desires into words, he didn't want to pressure her and had originally decided he'd just wait for her to approach him when she was ready. But now, while Kanetsugu went over his report for his recent observation mission, Kenshin wanted nothing more than a way to bring up his desires without pressuring his love. Starting a family was a big deal after all, he didn't want her to force herself into something she isn't ready for just to try and please him. Kenshin was staring off into the distance, his chin resting on the top of his lover's head while the little boy in her lap played with a stuffed animal. His vassals watched, absolutely astonished. Even Shingen was quite intrigued with his friend's behavior, meanwhile Kanetsugu could feel his eye twitching as he figured out long ago his Lord was barely listening, and they'd probably have to talk about this again later. Of course (Y/n) wasn't dumb, she could tell what everyone was thinking, and she did kind of feel bad for Kanetsugu. Before Kanetsugu left for his mission Kenshin had the Fearsome God of war, when he returned however he was Kenshin Lord of the bunnies. Sure, he still went to war, but he had changed in many ways. Kanetsugu could recognize the good, but he often found himself surprised at how (Y/n) brought out a childlike behavior in Kenshin.
Sometimes it made Kanetsugu want to laugh, but when his Lord is just blank face no thought staring at him in the middle of a war council, he wanted to throw something. Not that he actually would. He tried to soothe himself by observing his Lord's situation while he spoke, knowing that at least Shingen, Yukimura and Sasuke were listening. From the outside, you'd almost think they were a family. A thought that did calm the white-haired male's irritation, his Lord seemed so content. Kenshin was always quite happy when he had (Y/n) in his lap, but the addition of the child seemed to bring something out of the male. Kanetsugu didn't miss how his lord had gently pulled his wife closer, the blonde man's hand occasionally coming up to pet the little boy on the head absent mindedly. It only further reassured Kanetsugu's expectation that this is likely going to be the future, he wasn't quite sure how he was gonna handle this, but he was sure it was going to involve late night drinks with a recap of the war council. By the time Kanetsugu had come to this conclusion he had finished his explanation of the survey he had been sent on, and as he stepped back to return to his previous seat Kenshin seemed to realize that everything was over. On the outside Kenshin seemed somewhat normal, but Kanetsugu could see the slight surprise in his lord's features upon realizing he had missed the entire council. "I see, I do have a few questions, but we can discuss those later. Is there anything else that needs to be discussed?" Kenshin gazed around the room, wanting to make sure there wasn't anything left to discuss before he dismissed the meeting. When it was concluded that there was nothing else to talk about, Kenshin released everyone to go back to their daily duties. "It's almost time for lunch Kenshin, did you want to go out to eat? The weather has been nice the past few days." (Y/n) smiled, leaning back so that she rested against his chest. Her head leaned back against his shoulder, and she pressed a kiss to his cheek with a warm smile. After the door had been closed and everyone left, she let the little boy up so that he could explore the room a bit. Where the two adults sat, they could see every corner of the room and could easily monitor him. "Sure, we can make a date of it. The little one won't notice, and we can stop by a tea house for dessert after if you want." Though Kenshin didn't really like sweets, he still enjoyed the tea house atmosphere while he watched her enjoy her desserts. "You know me too well." She giggled, pressing another kiss to his cheek as they spent a few quiet moments in each other's arms. Watching over the little boy in front of them, both having only the thought of discussing family with each other at the end of the night.

writing practice ft. Naoe Kanetsugu
A/N: Just trying to get back into the writing groove. I haven't finished Kanetsugu's route yet so I am not confident about his voice. But I'm enjoying his route too much I can't not write for him.
Kanetsugu’s sitting behind his desk, poring over his new text that just came this morning. From the glimpses you see of the book before his hand obscures it with his annotations, it’s by Zhuang Zhou – not that you know much about him and ancient Chinese philosophers, but Kanetsugu seems absorbed enough that he’s made no clicking sounds when you slid by the side of his desk, planting your elbows on the smooth wooden surface and directing your interested gaze at him. It’s getting late in the afternoon, and the sky begins to bleed red and purple, the light slanting through the slits of the windows, hitting Kanetsugu’s pale skin and silver hair in burnished marigold. If you had a camera with you, you’d take a picture of his profile and frame it on your bedroom wall (his bedroom wall, but details, details).
Spring has just arrived, and with it a lull in conflict, as if all the warlords collectively decided to admire and savor the blooming flowers first before rushing back into war. There’s nothing to complain about; after all, it’s allowed Kanetsugu to stay in the castle and spend more time with his philosophical texts, which allows you to spend more time watching him, and that’s not such a bad deal at all.
Finally, after hours of studying the book (and hours of staring at him), Kanetsugu’s eyebrow twitches.
“Don’t you have anything better to do?” he says, raising his head and throwing you an unimpressed look.
“Like what?”
Kanetsugu’s face scrunches, miffed, and you think, Can Sasuke invent a DSLR camera right now?
To himself, he murmurs, “You can't discuss the ocean with a well frog – he's limited by the space he lives in. You can't discuss ice with a summer insect – he's bound to a single season.”
“Hey! I’ll have you know that this is a productive use of my time!”
“What – prolonged staring?”
“No –” and you sound so smug at this “– appreciating a work of art.”
There’s a twitch of his jaw, and the hand gripping the writing brush tightens. Slowly, a blush creeps into Kanetsugu’s cheeks; it reaches into his ears and his neck.
He closes his eyes as if pained, and expires a heavy sigh. You can’t help but grin.
“I’m just being honest.”
“And you sound like Lord Shingen and Lord Yoshimoto combined.”
You shrug airily. “They’re great teachers.”
That snaps Kanetsugu’s eyes open. His body twists to face you, tilting forward. He pins you with a narrow, bladed gaze that promises heat and fire, almost glowing with it. He gets closer and closer, expression never faltering, until you feel his warm breath puffing your skin, your lips.
You squirm in your seat, your eyes trapped under his – until they fall to his mouth.
And then he launches.

tadc cast with a s/o who hates touch.
BUT when they finally get comfortable with the characters they get soooo touchy (as in hugs ,hand holding etc)
Sorry if i didnt make myself clear
And thank you for your work!! ;)
TADC cast x reader who's warming up to touch!
So sorry for taking so long to get to this anon <\3!! I recently went back to writing on mobile due to back pain from sitting at my computer and it's really done a number on my efficiency <\3
That said I hope you enjoy!
Side note does anyone know any tips on how to soothe sore throats? Preferably not with honey because honey naoes my throat swell and itch 😭😭
This post ended up being waaaaaay longer than I first intended so I hope yall are ready to eat up
LAST MINUTE NOTE I misread/misinterpreted this as "reader finally taking a step towards initiating affection for the first time" and not "they're already comfortable and LOVE touch" I am so so dumb but I already have this written <\3 I hope you enjoy this regardless anon 😭😭😭
Tumblr media
CAINE:
I think Caine would struggle with the no touching thing especially since I see him being very affectionate both verbally and physically. That said I do think he eventually gets the hang of it and stops himself from throwing his arms around you for a hug... he amps up the verbal affirmations to make up for it though! He doesnt wanna make you unhappy so hes gonna respect your boundaries and take things slow!
As for when you start easing yourself into it, I think he would try to not make a big deal out of it, as not to risk embarrassing you. As someone who doesnt like touch as well as being hesitant to initiate it, I think I wouldnt want a big hoorah about it you know? But that's just me
He does subtly know hes proud of you for being able to take that step, even if you two are only holding hands via linking your pinkies together
POMNI:
I dont think pomni would be crazy about touch imo, she seems like the type to seize up when you touch her without warning. And I'm not saying that as something to be ashamed of because honestly me too. So I think this is one where you both need to have heavy communication in order to push past that and get used to touching one another ! Team work makes the dream work or however the saying goes
That said imagine you two grab each others hands bc something startles you/you both run from something (be it a prank from jax or an IHA or an abstracted) and you both just
Stare down at your interlocked hands. Experimentally squeezing each other before both relaxing into it
I think that would be a cute idea
RAGATHA:
Just like caine she is so so understanding. But unlike caine, she doesnt struggle all that much with trying go restrain from giving you physical affection. Ragatha naturally shows her love through quality time and gift giving, so she doesnt often feel the urge to wrap her arms around you, much less unprompted. Especially with your discomfort in mind
In the event that you come over to her, maybe lay your head on her shoulder while shes reading, I think she would stiffen up a little out of surprise, before gently leaning her heads against yours. Its nice, its quiet, and its comfortable. You two both peacefully exist like that for a while... good thing you guys probably dont have organs because ragathas heart would be pounding so fast, shes just so proud of you that the adrenaline kind of gets to her
JAX:
I think this might be the main one where there may be conflict.
Not because jax belittles your discomfort or tries to push the boundaries. No, I dont think he would, especially when you two get serious. Like would he probably poke you in the beginning before realizing it genuinely brings great discomfort? Yes. Would he stop when he finds out it's an issue for you? Also yes. Again, hes an asshole but I dont think he would be outright ab*sive
No, the reason why I think kay there may be conflict is because behind closed doors, jax can be very clingy and physically touchy, he would want to lay on top of you and hold you and that kind of stuff. That one ask with clingy jax hcs changed me
I think, if you ever try to initiate touch first he would say something kind of mean before he can stop himself. "About time" or something. Like he means it lightheartedly but like. He immediately regrets it, especially since that can just be so... eidkcmc.. when you're trying to come out of your shell in regards to something
Easily has the worst reaction, make him sleep on the metaphorical couch
I think he would do anything to fix that though, you're his lil bun afterall
KINGER:
Kinger is big on touch, he likes handholding and putting his hand on your shoulder. But ultimately he would respect you and not touch you.. honestly kinger can be the same way depending on the day. Either he hates touch and doesnt want anyone or anything touching him, or he needs to be held in order to keep his mind set straight. Poor guy. He just like me frfr.
Honestly gets a little spooked when you gently set your head on his lap, announcing you're going to take a nap while you two hang out in the pillow fort. Kind of gives a soft and surprised "oh!" Before going as still as a statue. Does he stay put? Does he run his hand through your hair? Does he keep up his bug ramble? Does he pipe down?
Ultimately he sits there quietly while you sleep
Expects that to be a one time thing, but he notices you're slowly becoming more physically affectionate. He outwardly shows his support and pride for you
ZOOBLE:
Another one who doesnt really like touch, but instead of it being a discomfort it's just a "I dont like it" thing you know? I mean what did you expect? Zooble doesnt interact much with people unless they're forced to, so it makes sense that touch isnt their thing. So this actually works out very well for you two.
Just like the pomni segment, you guys are going to have to do a lot of communication in regards to introducing stuff like cuddling and hand holding ect into the relationship and finding what works for you while keeping both parties satisfied. I think in the end zooble would be supportive, and even try to esse themselves into the whole thing. So you dont have to do it alone, you know?
GANGLE:
Honestly I think shes too shy and/or unconfident to initiate physical affection herself so the topic never really came up. Which... is a bit odd since it regards a comfort thing for you as well as gangle possibly thinking that you dont enjoy her company; assuming you never really tell her that touch brings you discomfort
But because we love healthy stuff here, let's assume you guys set down boundaries and stuff before getting together
I still think gangle would have some teeny tiny feeling that they arent the best for you. She knows its unfair to think that for both of you, but like. Its one of those nagging mean voices we all have/get at some point, you know?
Probably lets out a little squeak when you slowly wrap one of her arms around your hand and wrist. Kind of just stands there frozen. Too scared to speak up or move, fearing she would ruin the moment
Honestly I think gangle isnt used to touch (that isnt neutral or in passing), so this is going to be a little experience for her. You're both in this together now, basically

The Greatest Treasure of the Dragon
Ship: Kenshin x female reader with curly hair Rating: Mature Summary: When Kenshin arrives home you are lost in literature and don't pay enough attention to your man. He isn't pleased with the fact and decides to mark you as his once more.
This fic has been written as a commission for @himezuru-ichimonji-no-saya.
My commissions aren't currently open but you can sign up on the waiting list by contacting my main blog @afi-mukami.
Tumblr media
The garden is full of scents that waffle around you. You can’t help the smile that spreads on your lips as you enjoy the play that the bunnies have arranged for without asking. Such funny creatures. It’s almost like a blessing that Kenshin enjoys having those furry critters around.
Hopping and leaping, the bunnies make the most of the sunny moment of the afternoon. A burst of laughter erupts from you. Not wanting to scare the animals, you lean down, breathing in the last autumn flowers that are still blooming.
“My lady, please forgive me for the intrusion.”
When the maid’s voice reaches your ears, you spin around, swaying your curly locks behind your back. “Yes, what is it?”
You keep the smile on your face even though you can see how the bunnies scatter in the darker corners of the inner garden. Haa… it might take a while before they have gathered enough courage to come out again.
“I was asked to deliver this to you, my lady. The maid roams closer and bows her head, lifting an item wrapped in a patterned cloth. An expensive one, you assume.
“I see.” You take the package from the maid’s hands, and she straightens in front of you. “What is it?”
“I did not dare to ask.” The maid glances around as if checking if there isn’t anyone lurking in the shadows even though that should be clear, for this garden is in Kenshin’s private quarters. “But it is from lord Kanetsugu. I believe he included a note.”
The maid bows once more, taking a few steps backward. No doubt in a hurry to leave the garden. You can’t believe that you truly are that intimidating. Kenshin, yes. But you? Has his aura stuck on you as well?
“I apologize for my leave.” The maid keeps proceeding without turning her back on you until she is at the door and slips into the castle.  You don’t ask her to stay. Probably this is for the best.
Since the woman has left you alone, your focus turns to the package in your hands. The cloth has a pattern of cranes in a misty autumn field. You can’t help but wonder how expensive such a fabric would be in your time… and here as well. It would alone make for a gift.
“I wonder…” You press the package against your chest, wandering out of the garden and into the room you share with Kenshin. Leaving your sandals out, you walk to the table in your socks and sit down on the pillow.
Bit by bit, you wrap the cloth open. It feels thick and well-made against your fingertips. Enveloped in it is a book you have not seen before. Curious!
As you open the cover, you face a handwritten note. Some time ago, you would not have been able to read it. Now, you can, thanks to your persistent efforts to master the ancient version of the Japanese language. You might be still slow, but the words no longer keep secrets from you.
Thank you, my lady. This is a collection of poems I have collected over the years. I copied them for you as a reward for your services. — Naoe Kanetsugu
“Ah, he shouldn’t have.” The words sway out of your mouth like waves. But you can’t stop smiling. Of course, you didn’t help the man out in hopes of getting a prize. Yet, you can’t stop the warmth coursing through you when you know he has acknowledged your input.
You put the note aside and dive into the book. Since the bunnies are hiding, you have time to lose yourself in the fragile beauty of the written word.
You can’t but admire the choices Kanetsugu has made as he has handpicked the poems. With each piece, it’s not only the meanings of the combined words but also the utmost beautiful manner in which each character is copied. It must have taken him forever to make this collection for you. Every single poem in the tome is a piece of art that is ready to steal your breath away.
Tumblr media
Vaguely, you hear as the door slides open and steps roam in. “My love… I’m home.”
Without lifting your face from the page, you nod. “Welcome home, Kenshin.”
Ah, such an enchanting expression. How can someone even come up with something like that? The way of using words and playing with them is near perfection. Does the original poets have some natural talents or has someone been teaching them? You burn to know! The next time you see Kanetsugu, you have to ask him about this poem selection.
You barely notice how Kenshin moves across the room, his feet tapping on the tatami as he closes in. Sighing with bliss, you turn another page, letting yourself dive into the next waves of words while Kenshin sits down next to you and starts to toy with one of the curls you have let stay loose today.
Another sigh pusses past your lips, as the new poem takes you in a whirlpool of emotions. Kenshin brushes aside your hair, revealing your neck and covering it with kisses. You giggle and wiggle but turn a page once more. Ah, such delicate handwriting. You are in literature heaven. This isn’t just a book but a full experience of delight.
Suddenly, fingers snatch your source of happiness from you.
“What is this? Why aren’t you paying attention to me?” Kenshin’s voice distills sour bitterness as he starts to go through the book.
“Kanetsugu gave it to me,” you say, not wanting to keep secrets from your love. Meandering a bit, you turn to face him. “Those poems are simply stunning.”
“Why?” The word comes out harsh as Kenshin’s sapphire and emerald eyes capture your gaze. There is a furrow between his brows.
“Oh… well… they are written in such dedicated handwriting and the way how the words dance on paper…”
“Why did Kanetsugu give you this?” Kenshin asks again, tossing the book on the table. The slapping sound as the cover hits the wood strikes you directly in the heart.
“I ended up helping him another day with something and I guess he felt like he should return the favor…” You try to keep your voice steady but still mumble more than speak. You can tell that Kenshin is angry from the way his eyes flash.
“I will kill him!”
Kenshin shifts like he is going to get up. Hastily, you grab his shoulders, pushing him down even though you know he is much stronger than you and can easily even tie you up if he wishes. Still, you can’t let him go to Kanetsugu, not for this. Of course, he wouldn’t truly kill his vassal, you have learned that by now, but there just isn’t a reason to say anything to Kanetsugu at all.
“Please, Kenshin. Let it slide. It’s nothing,” you try to crack some sense into your man’s heat-clouded mind. “It was simply a gift, nothing more. There is no need to…”
“Do you like it more than the gifts I gave to you?” Kenshin’s voice grumbles into your ears. He takes your hands off his shoulders, wrapping his fingers around your wrists, and pulls you a bit closer.
“I can enjoy gifts in different ways.” At the instant the words leave your mouth, you know you have made a mistake. This was not the answer Kenshin yearned for, the answer that would have soothed his troubled mind and heart.
“Only I am allowed to give you the perfect gift.” Kenshin leans in, glaring at you. “I’ll go and find something better than that book!”
Kenshin rises, hauling you with him. You stagger in his grip and gasp for a moment from the sudden movement.
“Kenshin, please… You don’t need to do such a thing.” You sigh, tugging your wrist slightly in hopes that Kenshin would release you and you could brush his cheek. Yet, he doesn’t give you a chance.
Looking directly into the eyes of your love, you try to make your voice as calm and collected as possible. “Gifts aren’t that important to me. I don’t care about having pretty items or clothes because I already have the most valuable gift I can imagine.”
“The book?” Kenshin’s voice is like acid, and his fingers clench around your wrists even harsher, forcing a whimper out of you. Instantly, he loosens his grasp but still doesn’t let go of you.
“No, not the book.” You swallow a new sigh, not wanting to annoy Kenshin more. “You, you are the most precious gift I have ever received. Since I have you, I don’t need anything else.” Rising on your toes, you place a kiss on his chin. “Please, forgive me if I gave you a reason to think otherwise, but I swear there is nothing I cherish more than you.”
Silence spreads between you two, filling the air of the room with its stickiness. You can’t help the squeeze around your heart. You would never want to hurt the one you love, yet now it happened because of your insensitive actions.
“Fine. I won’t kill Kanetsugu…” Kenshin releases your wrists, only to envelope you with his arms. “...for now. But he better not piss me off again by courting you.”
“He isn’t courting me, I promise.” Finally, you can touch Kenshin’s face and draw your fingertip along with his chin line. “I’m all yours.”
Kenshin groans. “He should see it.”
“I’m sure he does.” You press one hand on Kenshin’s shoulder, rising on your toes once more to place a kiss on his lips.
Kenshin tightens his grip on you, squashing you on his chest as if he is afraid you could be spirited away right in this instant. His gaze is still painted with jealousy and possessiveness before he lets his thick lashes land on his cheeks and captures you in a proper smooch. A rough, all-consuming smooch that is about to wipe your feet under you, but Kenshin catches you, scooping you in bridal style and dashing you both across the room without freeing your mouth from the prison of his lips. Only when he lays you on the futon, he allows you to gasp for air.
“I will make Kanetsugu see to whom you belong…” Kenshin snatches your obi, starting to open it as you wriggle against the futon. “I will make everyone see. They won’t dare after that…”
“Kenshin…”
You entwine your fingers with Kenshin’s hair, but he doesn’t even peek at you. Not now, since he is busy getting your obi open. The silk belt surrenders him, and he tosses it to the other side of the room while the kimono on you slides down your sides, baring your belly to his burning gaze.
Without hesitation, Kenshin pushes aside the rest of the fabric, revealing your breast for his touch, uncovering everything you hide under your layers of robes. The air in the room isn’t exactly cold, yet it is cool enough to force your sensitive buds to peak. As if that was a cue, Kenshin abducts one of them in the heated cave of his mouth, dancing his tongue around it while toying the other with his fingers. A moan erupts you before you can restrain it, and you arch on the mattress.
As in a hurry, Kenshin’s hand leaves your breast and travels down toward your navel, bypassing it only to reach your throbbing heat. His actions have already started to soak your depths, and warmth flashes on your cheeks as you know for sure that he will notice the fact. You whimper, tugging his hair as he makes his thumb trace your pulsing pearl while sneaking two other fingers closer to your entrance. You are jerking your hips up before you even realize it. More, you need more of this.
Kenshin keeps torturing your nub while slipping his fingers in, two at once, pushing a whine out of you as the swirling fingers stretch you wide, finding just the right spot. He truly knows how and where to touch you. Today, his fingers move fast, thrusting in and out, curling over your special spot and then reaching deep. Not even for a moment, his thumb stops tormenting you.
At the same time, Kenshin’s mouth travels up, nibbling its way forward. He sucks the sensitive skin of the column of your neck so harshly that you wail. Not minding your lamentations, he keeps nibbling and sucking while his fingers make their magic between your thighs. You are melting and squirming, turning into his personal swamp to drown in. Slip, wet sounds mix with your moans as you arch against him yanking his hair with every shove of his digits.
A groan escapes Kenshin’s mouth against your neck. “I need to claim you as mine…”
“I… am… yours…” Your words mingle with your whines.
But apparently, reassurances aren’t enough for Kenshin. With a swift movement, he unplugs his fingers from you, leaving you throbbing and yearning for release. Licking the digits clean, he gazes at you.
“I hope you mean that you want me this very instant…” Kenshin’s yanks open the traps of his fur-collared cloak and slings it on the tatami. “...because…” He finds the front belts of his hakama, unknotting them. “...I have…” With impatient motions, his hakama along with his kimono end up in the same pile with the cloak until he is in all his naked glory before you. “...reached the limit of my restraint.”
Steadying your breath, you enjoy the view to the fullest. Every battle-hardened muscle, flattering collarbones, and the tiny trail of hair that marks the path from his navel toward the shaft which looks like it’s more than ready to make you wail.
“I'll make you mine.” Lowering himself over you and leaning in, Kenshin secures one of your ankles with his grip. “You will only think of me.” He folds your leg up, placing your calf on his shoulder. Right after that, he wraps his fingers around his hardened member, guiding it on your pearly gates.
Biting your lip, you ready yourself. Yet, a tiny whimper escapes you as Kenshin hits in, roughly and deeply.
"Don't stifle your moans.” Kenshin pulls almost completely out only to ram into your damp depths once again. Growling, he presses his body against you and stretches your thigh along the movement. “Let me hear you."
You throw your head back on the futon, lips parting and letting out a cry of pleasure. Kenshin takes your wrists, shoving them against the mattress as he sinks himself into you again and again, at an unrelenting pace, your leg swinging with every push.
Toes curling, clenching around Kenshin's merciless member, you turn into a moaning mess. He conquers you, claims even the most secret parts of yours, the realms that belong to him and to him only. Without a doubt, you are his and willing to surrender your everything in his hands, letting him take your body in the way he enjoys. And more than that. With every plunge, your hearts are tied closer like you are becoming one single being.
Suddenly your moans are drowned by Kenshin’s lips that imprison yours. His tongue slithers into your mouth, tangling with yours. He lets go of your wrists and presses even closer, your leg gliding down his upper arm until he allows it to meet the futon. But you’re not willing to stop there. You need him closer, deeper. Embracing his waist with your legs, you thrust his butt and cry into his mouth as he hits just in the right spot. Wrapping your arms around him, you haul his chest against your breast as he continues his merciless bouncing.
“You…” Kenshin groans onto your lips. “...are…” He sucks your tongue before pulling your lip. “...mine.”
Your skin rubs against Kenshin’s as you lose yourself in the tango of two bodies, hearts and souls. Hips meeting hips, you take Kenshin in with relish over and over. As he pounds in, massaging your perfect spot each time, your tongues entangle together, almost becoming one. There is nothing separating you two. Everything is revealed, nothing remains hidden.
Kenshin leaves your lips but only to attack your neck again. Harsh sucks equal his rough shoves, making you whimper even more under him.
The sparks lit under your skin, tingling through you from your core to your head and toes. Whirls of bliss wipe you as Kenshin makes your garden bloom. Petals of pleasure scatter around you and you become a storm of gratified flowers, exploding to the sky. You whine and whimper into Kenshin’s mouth, in his arms, arching against him and squeezing him again. Again. Again! There is no end to it as you sob at the pleasure that ties you to him.
“My love!” One last rough shove. Kenshin’s hips bounce, his member piercing you. He tenses over you, groaning your name onto your lips and shooting his load of love and lust deep within you, filling you up until you are soaked both from your combined salacious sap of feverish joys.
You breathe in, breathe out, your heart still hopping like a scared bunny. Kenshin brushes your sweaty curls off your face, gazing down at you with his mismatched eyes. “Now, you are all claimed, all marked as mine.”
Nodding, you still can’t muster out a word.
“Was I too rough?” There is a hint of worry in Kenshin’s voice as he caresses your cheek.
You shook your head.
“I can't stand the idea of someone else courting you. You should be only mine forever.” Worriedness is turning husky.
“Don’t worry… I'll always be yours.” Your fingers tremble as you cup Kenshin's face, stroking his sweat-covered cheek with your thumbs. “You are the greatest gift I have ever received. There is no way I would let go of you.”
Finally, a weary smile wavers onto Kenshin's lips. “And you're my greatest treasure of all time. I love you.” The words meander into your heart, making it beat faster again. You beam as you pull Kenshin into a new smooch. “I love you as well, my love. With all my being.”

Kanetsugu x Reader Fluff 560 words Content Warnings: none
His
His. Sigh for a sigh, you let yourself fall back over the futon and into Kanetsugu’s care, greedy hands grasping at his yukata, pulling at his collar to draw him near and push your worries away. It is a touch for a touch, an unprompted shiver for an unexpected one… a kiss for a kiss, for his lips descent upon yours, soft despite the bluntness of the words they so often set off into the world. Voracious. Starved.
Irrelevant.
You need not talk.
Your fingers tangle in his hair, hold the spun starlight strands at bay as he hoovers over you, a growl surging in his throat. An animal threatened or an animal spurred, your love near whimpers into your flesh, stripped of any of his erudition. Your nails latch onto his shoulders, loosen his restraint and demote him from the rank of the sage – and it terrifies him, and it rouses the most primal of frights lurking deep in the murky waters at the very bottom of his heart. Kanetsugu pulls back at once, attempts to flee from your flame.
He must.
Before he loses himself, his control, he must.
But he cannot.
Yours. You chase after him, yukata dishevelled and your sash undone. You conquer what he has given up, advance at his uncertainty, flank the loathing he subjects himself to, take no hostage-doubts. You make it into his personal collapse, the long hours you have spent studying the Art of War now serving you well in the war against Kanetsugu’s constraints. Groan for a laugh, you have him fall back over the futon and into your care, tender hands pressing at his chest, ascending to the corners of his jaw to force him to meet your gaze. Breath stills in Kanetsugu’s lungs.
“Just one more?” you whisper.
“Just one —”
You do not give him the time to reply.
Waves of hair spill over your shoulder, shielding your love from any prying lanterns and their light. It is just you, just him, and your lips that deliver feather-light affection to his forehead, temples, the very tip of his nose… Long silver lashes fall over his cheeks in a mixture of abashment and surprise. Willing or not, Kanetsugu withholds his eyes from you, closes the wisteria window into his soul.
You are not merciful. It is not allowed.
Kanetsugu frowns.
Yours. The frustration pooling between his brows whets your appetite. The tips of his canines press into his lower lip, his hands straining in their grip over the sheets. You want to unleash his desires, to set him free… So you regroup and retreat to his jaw, scout its very edge, descent further to take over his neck. More teeth than lips, your affection marks its path across his alabaster skin, the cold marble of his flesh buzzing with newly ignited blood. Kanetsugu groans as you suck at his collarbone, thus desecrating the last of his reason.
It is all you have wanted.
It is all you want.
His. Kanetsugu grabs your hips and your world spins, the soft futon cushioning your fall. More beast than a strategist, he scrutinises you, instinct-driven hands taking hold of your face as he forces his mouth upon yours. He growls into you, traces every inch of you… Makes you his, again and again, in a thousand, a thousand and one, ways.

Hakuoki x Sengoku Night Blood Crossover - A Fleeting Vision A Fortuitous Meeting with a Samurai Prologue
For October (pretend that I didn't miss last week's post, or count this as that one,🤣 though I'll promise I'll work on something to make up for it later), I'll only be posting this story. There are five parts, so that'll cover my usual posts for the month... I'm hoping to get them all out before Veilguard gets released so I can go work on one other thing (TBD since I haven't decided on what yet) to make up for the last week of September, and then the last of the Deemo content.
Just a warning though: I will definitely not be translating anything for a while once I get my hands on Veilguard... though I will be royally pissed off if the release date gets delayed.
Also, I decided to translate this crossover because of @koto-wari! For other Hakuoki x Sengoku Night Blood translations, I believe that @jokertrap-ran has some of the side content with Sannan and Sakamoto translated.
Anyway, enjoy?
Please note, I have never played Sengoku Night Blood or watched the stage play or anime, so the names, honorifics and terminology I use might be incorrect as I didn't take an in-depth look at the wikia, as that is what I used to reference most of the names (aka I'm selectively lazy).
The only term I think is necessary for readers to understand is "Yakuma" which are evil spirits of some sort... and I've decided to go with "Yuzuki" for the Heroine's name since that's what was used in the anime. I'll only be using it the when it's mentioned directly.
----------------------------------
Hakuoki x Sengoku Night Blood Prologue: The Encounter
Translation by KumoriYami
On the night when I was following the trail of Himegamiko-sama with the Uesugi Army——
The low row of the wind announced the arrival of the Yakuma.
While we rushed over to defeat the enemy, the fight had already begun.
Heroine: Who are those people...?
Okita: Contrary to how they appear, these guys are seriously weak that it's astounding. There's no feeling at all when you slash them, so they're not even a challenge are they, right? What do you think, Hajime-kun?
Saito:...Even if you're seeking my approval, I only feel that this is perplexing. I'm also not a battle maniac like you.
Okita: You're still the same as always.
The moonlight reflected off the tip of their blades, and with the fluttering of their pale blue haori like butterfly wings, with each swing, the Yakuma fell one after another.
Seeing their unfamiliar figures, the Uesugi Army halted as if they had been nailed to the spot.
Kakizaki Kageie: Who are those guys fighting the Yakuma? Kagemochi, do you know anything?
Kagemochi Amakasu: I don't know... These people are not from the Takeda Army, but they don't seem to be from the Oda Army or the Toyotomi Army either.
Naoe Kanetsugu: People dressed exactly the same way are coming over!
At Kanetsugu-san's words, the mood around the Uesugi Army suddenly became tense. But as if the two people running over hadn't noticed our presence, they respectively clutched the sword and spear in their hands, and happily rushed towards the Yakuma.
Harada: I came over after hearing what Yamazaki said, what the hell are these?
Okita: Areh? Sano-san and Heisuke are here too, I'm going to have fewer opponents.
Toudou: We came out to help out of goodwill, so what's with your attitude! Even for Souji, it'll be difficult for you to deal with so many enemies by yourself.
Saito:...Enough of that nonsense. It's best to focus on the enemies in front of us now.
Toudou: Alright! Let's go all out! Sano-san, don't be careless!
Harada: There's no way I'll be careless against this opponent I don't know anything about [more literally, "unknown opponent," but that looks weird]!
These people were cheerfully talking while they brandished their swords in high spirits. It was the first time I had ever seen someone fighting a Yakuma like this, and I couldn't help but clench my hands in fear.
Uesugi Kagekatsui:...But they're fighting Yakuma, so are they allies?
Kanetsugu Naoe: How can guys like this, who have never been seen in the Uesugi territory, be allies.
Uesugi Kagekatsu: But... Father, we....
Kenshin Uesugi: Hold off investigating the other party's origins, and do what we need to do first.
The confused mood in the area disappeared with Kenshin-san's words, and everyone's expressions became serious.
Kagemochi Amakasu: : Please hide in a safe location for a while.
Heroine: Okay... Please be careful.
The Uesugi Army in the opposite direction of the group in the light blue haori, and together they flanked the Yakuma together. Just when I wanted to go hide in the back so that I wouldn't get in the way—
Yukimura: Haah… Haah… everyone's fine…
Yamzaki: There are monsters here too... Yukimura-kun, just wait here.
Yukimura: I understand. Yamazaki-san, please be careful too.
Two more figures emerged from the forest before me, and one of them was a woman.
Heroine: (…They're too close to the Yakuma, isn't that too dangerous——)
Although she has a sword on her hip, she might be able to fight, but——
Heeroine: (Although it's not clear if they're friend or foe…… )
Not wanting her to get in to danger, I ran to her side.
Okita:——I don’t know who you are, but are you trying to steal my prey?
Amakasu Kagemochi: Our opponents are Yakuma. If you’re trying to wipee them out on your own, I'm afraid it might be a bit difficult with just you, right?
Okita: Yakuma? I don't know what you're talking about, but if I accidentally cut you down, don't complain about it to me later, okay?
Amakasu Kagemochi: You're meaning is that you're all be hostile to us then?
Okita: Who knows? I have no idea. But if we do become enemies, I won’t show any mercy you know?
Amakasu Kagemochi:…I’d really like to hear the details about who you people are later
Okita: Isn’t it proper etiquette for you to introduce yourselves first?
Toudou: Hey, are those guys going to be our companions?
Harada: Who knows. But judging by the atmosphere, one thing’s clear, they're definitely not colleagues of these monsters.
Toudou: Keep your distance from them then, and clean up these monsters first.
Saito: Having said, it will be difficult to maintain our distance.
Harada: What do you mean.
Saito: Look over there.
Toudou: Chizuru... who's she's with?
I held her hand and led her to an area where we wouldn't get in the way of everyone fighting against the Yakuma.
Heroine: This is further away from the Yakuma, so it should be safe here.
Yukimura: U-Um...
Heroine:...! So-Sorry, I'm sorry for forcibly pulling you over. Thinking that you were a woman, I just felt uneasy so I couldn't ignore it… I'm really sorry.
Yukimura: How could that be…! Please don't apologize to me, I should be the one thanking you. Um, I'm Yukimura Chizuru, you are...?
Heroine: I'm Yuzuki. Your companions are very powerful, for them to fearlessly fight against the Yakuma.
Yukimura: These... are called Yakuma?
Heroinee:...Y-Yes.
Yakuma: Although I don't think that these are rasetsu, I've never seen monsters like this…
While I was surprised at her complete lack of knowledge about Yakuma, what made me feel more concerned was the word "rasetsu", which I had never heard before.
Yukimura:…Um, excuse me, can you tell me where this is?
Heroine: Th-This is... the Uesugi territory... in a place called Shinga.
It was only now that I noticed how strangely she was dressed, which looked very odd.
Heroine: (I first thought she was from another territory, but could it be… can it be that…)
Her question overlapped with the unease that I first felt when I arrived in Shinga.
Yukimura: Shin、ga...? This isn't Kyoto?
Heroine: No, this is... the in Uesugi territory in Shinga. (Her reaction is just like mine then...)
I cautiously asked her.
Heroine: Are you from a place called "Kyoto"?
Yukimura:...Yes. I don't know we suddenly ended up in a place like this…
Heroine:……!
I gasped at Yukimura-san's words. It sounded… like she and her companions were really like me.
In the midst of my ocnfusion, I heard shouting. It appears that the fight against the Yakumaa was over.
Heroine: (Although everyone seems to be fine…)
Ordinarily, I would have immediately ran over to where they were, but right now, I stood still because of the sense of déjà vu from this woman named Yukimura Chizuru.
---to be continued in part 1 here---
I took the title of the story from https://senbura-info.fandom.com/wiki/A_Fortuitous_Meeting_with_a_Samurai
Also, I haven't mentioned it in a while, but I don't translate from Japanese so who knows if something else got lost in translation... 😅

You adjusted the collar of your kimono as you scurried down the hallways – it was one of those nights where the evening breeze was refreshingly crisp on your face, a sweet reminder that the long days of this cruel summer were soon numbered. Weaving through the hallways, your heart raced with excitement, eager to find Kanetsugu.
About to knock, you nearly stumbled to the floor when the door flew open unexpectedly. Kanetsugu stood with his arms folded, a smirk on his face as he watched you regain your composure.
“What’s so funny?”
“Absolutely nothing. Except you made my job easier.” You stared at him blankly, confused by his words. He offered a soft smile, extending an arm to you. “I was about to go look for you. But now you’re here.”
Oh…
“Wait…” you asked, wondering if he shared the same reason for wanting to meet the other tonight. “Why were you looking for me?”
“Why were you looking for me?” His lips pressed into a stern line as he waited for your response.
Sighing, you gave in far too easily. But you had no choice; you were already losing time by standing here. “Have you ever heard of the supermoon?” You paused, stopping yourself. “No. It’s a modern term; you wouldn’t know it…”
“But I do.”
You looked at him curiously, until the puzzle pieces fit into place.
“Sasuke,” you both said at the same time.
“Well…” You looked up at him, your eyes wide with excitement. “It should be visible tonight. We don’t have time to waste!”
In a rare turn of events, Kanetsugu allowed you to lead him to the gardens. “The moon should be visible from this spot,” you indicated as you approached a quiet space overlooking the gardens.
“You did your research.”
“I did,” you replied, your chest filling with pride. “Sasuke told me about the supermoon. When it would appear and where best to view it.”
Kanetsugu smiled as he stood next to you, snaking an arm around your waist. Shivers crawled up and down your spine as his hand rested on your hip, his fingers pressing into your flesh.
You stood there silently, side by side, as you gazed up above, the supermoon shining brightly, surrounded by a sea of sparkling stars. He soon turned to you; while gently brushing your cheek with his knuckles, you couldn't help but notice the faint blush coloring his cheeks, his visage outshining the moon. Your eyes drifting closed, the faint fragrance of wisteria filled your lungs as his lips brushed against yours in a soft kiss.
Your heart swelled with love, certain that it was the stars and the moon that aligned, defying time and space, to bring you here.
To Kanetsugu.

The Strange Neighbors: Kanetsugu (Kanetsugu X Reader)
(A/N): Another experimental piece since it’s been in revisions hell far too long for my liking. Enjoy!
Tumblr media
Prologue:
The aspiring fashion designer who just moved into town was having a really rough time. Firstly, her brand was getting little to no recognition, and secondly, she was in a new area all by her lonesome for work. She just got here and she already felt so terribly alone: How was she going to make friends here?
After finally putting away the very last box of her stuff, she was exhausted, and decided to take a breather outside in her backyard. It was a nice, warm day, and the refreshing breeze would be just what the poor woman needed after having to put so much stuff away. Moving was never easy, especially with no companions in an area that was foreign for the time being.
She needed to keep her head up. This was a fresh new start for her, and she was surely going to find friends here.
However, the friends she expected to meet were not what she exactly had in mind…
When the tired fashion designer was enjoying the fresh air in her backyard, having lounged in her chair, she noticed something… peculiar in the bushes.
At first she had mistaken it for a chipmunk, but when she stared at it for a bit longer, she noticed that it was a hamster.
“What in the?…” She questioned, going to slowly get up from her chair to inch closer to the rodent. What was a hamster doing by its lonesome? Was it some kid’s pet that got loose?
Upon her getting closer, the hamster, which was silver with wisteria eyes, seemed to glare at her, letting out an aggressive sounding chitter, as it hid itself deeper within the foliage.
“Hey, come back! You shouldn’t be out here, little guy!” She called out to the creature, only for it to pop up from some leaves to stare at her, still holding that narrowed gaze on her. What was this hamster’s problem? She never knew a hamster could have such an attitude problem!
“I don’t know why you seem so feisty, but I can help you!” She told the hamster.
Upon her words, the bushes seemed to rustle again, with the furball then bringing something to her attention, that made her gasp in shock.
It was a trap… And a very feisty blond rabbit was gnawing at the cage, letting out all sorts of angry sounding squeaks.
As crazy as it seemed, it looked to her as if this intelligent hamster was trying to free the rabbit.
“Your rodent friend is trapped… How awful…” She frowned, leaning down to note how the hamster tried to pry the cage open with its tiny hands.
“I got you, little fella.” She smiled softly at the two rodents, with ease opening up the cage for the rabbit, who dashed as quickly as lightning upon being freed, while the other hamster stood behind to stand up and look up at her, it’s harsh look seeming to soften from the kind gesture she just did. It chattered softly to her, before scurrying off into the foliage.
To say this event was very bizarre would be an understatement, but she knew by the look of those two animals that they were no ordinary rodents. They seemed… different from the usual variety.
Besides that very odd occurrence, she spent the rest of her day as usual, thinking up ideas to bring to life in her clothing.
The very next day, the fashion designer would be in the middle of snacking when her doorbell would ring.
“Hm? A moment!” She called out, in a hurry to chew and swallow her snack before she rushed to the door. She was not expecting company. Perhaps it was the mailman?…
When she answered her door, a tall, slender man was there, holding a parcel in his hands, his face as cool as a winter’s day. He looked like what the manifestation of the very season would look like, and look at her, getting distracted by this attractive stranger! He was here for a reason, and she was pretty sure it was not to woo her! Not that she was imagining him doing that!
“Greetings. I have heard you just moved in. I am Kanetsugu Naoe, and I am one of your neighbors.” He told her in a rather formal fashion, going to bow his head as he held out the parcel. “This is a welcome to the neighbor gift. Take it.” He told her, as the woman took the parcel with a bright smile. This was such a sweet gesture on the part of her new handsome neighbor.
She then mentally told herself off. It was just a friendly gesture from a neighbor! Nothing more, nothing less, the fashion designer told herself, not wanting to make this awkward.
“T-Thank you.” She smiled, going to introduce herself to Kanetsugu as she put the package aside for the moment.
“So you are a fashion designer? It is quite unusual for fashion designers to choose to live outside the big cities.” He noted, before the tall man let out a soft sigh. “I admit… Coming here was just a pretext to also thank you for saving Ke- the rabbit.” He told her in a softer voice, which definitely caught her attention. So he knew the feisty rabbit.
“Well, you’re welcome, though how did you know?” She asked him curiously, causing him to grit his teeth. “I saw it. That rabbit is a very important resident, so thank you.”  He told her, bowing his head once again, before he was quickly walking away.
She couldn’t help but snicker. A rabbit, an important resident? That was awfully cute, although…
Something strange was going on, the fashion designer just knew it. Just like Kanetsugu, those rodents weren’t ordinary. They had colorations she has never seen before, and the hamster seemed to have understood every word she was telling it.
Either she has a gift she was not aware about, or something unexplained was going on…
The very next day, while making breakfast, the groggy woman spotted the hamster on her windowsill, seeming to be staring at her making breakfast, before it was staring at one particular thing.
“Hm? What is it?” She questioned, going to follow the periwinkled gaze of the rodent, before gasping as she saw she had the fire way too high for her breakfast! “U-Uh, this is unusual for me.” She stammered at the rodent, feeling embarrassed at this display as she went to turn the fire down, while the rodent shook its head softly, and squeezed through the little opening of the window, scurrying over to the kitchen.
“H-Hey, wait a minute! We are not exactly on roommate terms here! You are not supposed to be in here!” She started to panic a bit, while the rodent paid her no mind, and started to scurry into the sink… Before starting to clean her dirty dishes from yesterday.
Beyond amazed at the rodent’s intelligence, the woman merely watched the hamster, with meticulous little hands, clean her dishes, before using its furry body to push and pull them to the rack, before it looked up at her, and started to softly chatter.
It was like the hamster was scolding her for her lack of cleanliness.
“H-Hey, I had a long day yesterday!” She excused herself, which only made the hamster scold her more with soft chatters.
“Who is your owner, anyway? There is no way you are a wild hamster. I do not think wild hamsters are even a thing…” The lady looked on with suspicion, going to slowly place her hand over the hamster’s head, which made it stiffen. “Are you the neighbor’s?… Kanetsugu, was it?…” She hummed, as the hamster seemed to have completely froze up, as if trying not to draw anymore attention to itself.
It melted completely when feeling her soft hand starting to pet its fluffy head. Her touch was warm and comforting…
It almost felt wrong to enjoy being treated like this when this was a curse that happened to him… That happened to Kanetsugu every other day.
After enjoying her petting for a bit too long, he then suddenly darted back out the window, plopping his furball self through the small space and back into the foliage. The less she knew about him, in either form, the better they all would be.
The very next day, the fashion designer decided to take it upon herself to learn more about this strange neighborhood and their intelligent rodent problem. Kanetsugu claimed to have seen her free the rabbit, which meant that his property had to be within eyesight of it, and there was only one house that could have gotten such a good view of the event.
From the welcome gift that Kanetsugu gave her, which consisted of some decorations for her house as well as some books for light reading, there was his business card with his number. Curious, she decided to give him a ring, wondering if he would pick up. She had a few questions to ask him, so if it was possible, she was thinking of setting up some time where they can just have a nice, neighborly conversation about the rodents. After all, one of them was an important resident, according to him.
“Kanetsugu Naoe at your service. What do you need?” He immediately answered, which made her squeak neevously. Maybe this was better planned out in her head than in actual execution, like a lot of her fashion pieces… She was going through a dry spell, and this happened to every artist!
“Hello?” Kanetsugu answered again, which made her clear her throat as she tried again to answer him back. “Y-Yes, it’s me, your new neighbor. If you have time, I’d like to talk with you about… the hamster and the rabbit.” She told him in almost a whisper, her nerves now getting to her. Yes, this was way better planned out in her head.
After a pause, Kanetsugu finally responded back to her. “Alright. You can come over after I am done here. My house is the one right next door, the one with the lamp.” He told her, before continuing. “Is there anything else that you need?” He asked.
“No, that’s all. Bye!” She answered, before promptly hanging up. That took far more courage than she had anticipated… And the plan was slightly flipped now. Instead of him coming to her house, she was coming to his!
She had to remind herself that they would just be having a casually conversation. It wasn’t like he was going to flirt with her or anything, he didn’t seem like the type to do that.
Later on, the two met on Kanetsugu’s porch to discuss the rodents.
“So, you told me that the rabbit was an important resident…” The fashion designer began, to which Kanetsugu nodded. “He is. That rabbit is… he belongs to my boss.” Kanetsugu told her, seeming to be very careful with how he tells her this.
After all, if someone else outside of his personal circle found out about the curse that affected all of them, Kenshin had made it clear that he would kill them, no questions asked.
“I see… And the hamster?“ She questioned, to which he stiffened with a grimace. “He’s… mine. He likes to hide around a lot, so you probably wouldn’t see him much.” He told her, to which she looked at him with a smile.
“So, you taught your hamster how to clean dishes? You must be quite the owner.” She giggled softly, which made him frown. “Cleanliness is the next thing to godliness. Of course my hamster knows how to maintain his hygiene.”
“But I never knew hamsters were capable of so much.” She grinned, before another question appeared in her head.
“When I first saw your hamster, he was trying to help your boss’ rabbit out of a cage. Do we have hunters around here?“ She asked, to which Kanetsugu scoffed. “You could say that…” He murmured, not meeting her in the eyes.
“Hunters”, or rather their mutual friend, Sasuke, who set out a whole course for Kenshin to keep fit with since the man loved to train. On that particular day, Kenshin missed the hidden trap, and got caught in it. She just so happened to catch them at the wrong time.
Now that she was well aware of the hamster’s existence, he thought he might as well get her used to his presence.
There was nothing more to it than that.

So I just started watching Orient and I was joking around with a friend about this. I feel kind of weird because I haven’t seen any other fanfics. This turned out a bit longer than I had originally planned 💀 Naoe x Reader
Aiko’s jaw dropped at the scene in front of her, she was heading towards your apartment for help with an assignment. Instead of waiting for the elevator which was on the 30th floor, she decided to take the stairs since you were only on the third floor. It would be way quicker. I should’ve waited for the elevator. She thought to herself as she quietly stepped back so the two in the hallway couldn’t see her. Aiko slightly panicked when the man across from you stepped away like he was heading to the staircase she was in, thankfully you had tugged his arm back to have him wait for the elevator. To spend more time with her? Aiko pondered. As the two of you waited the man wrapped his arm around you. The scene caused Aiko’s heart to tighten in her chest. I can’t believe this is happening. She felt weird watching the two of you, but she couldn’t leave now, you might hear her going down the stairs, or she might bump into the man outside. Even though he most likely has no idea who she is, she didn’t want to risk it.
It felt like hours had passed, though it was probably more like ten minutes. The man left and you had returned to your apartment. Still, Aiko didn’t move from the stairway; she bit her lip nearly drawing blood. How could you do this? What should she do? She couldn’t face you now, she felt too many emotions and feared she might snap. Instead, she pulled out her phone and quickly sent a text apologizing letting you know she wouldn’t make it.
Once Aiko made it home, she dropped onto her sofa only to quickly stand once more and pace around her living room. “What do I do? He’s not really my friend, but he doesn’t deserve this. I can’t approach her about this.” She wanted to scream at you, going to you is out of the question. You’re her friend but she refuses to keep this secret. “But who should I tell?”
Aiko struggled the last few days, not knowing who to tell. Though her emotions had leveled off, she still refused to speak to you about this. She couldn’t speak to him; would he even believe her? “I should’ve taken pictures or a video.” She frowned; she had been beating herself up about not taking a video since arriving home after it happened.
“So, what did you need to speak to us about?” Kuroko smiled at Aiko; the girl was obviously upset about something. Kuroko and Tatsuomi sat across from Aiko in a coffee shop. Aiko fidgets as the image of you in the hallway fills her mind once more. They were a little confused why one of your friends they didn’t know that well would invite them out, but she had sounded really upset about something.
“Please listen to me, I know you don’t really know me but you’re both good friends with Naoe. And ___” She added your name as an afterthought. They are pretty good friends with you, and have been for years, but that might be over soon.
Both Tatsuomi and Kuroko sat quietly waiting for her to continue. Aiko held her cappuccino nervously drumming her fingers on the side. She paid no attention to customers coming and going, focused on the two before her. Honestly, she couldn’t really hear the door opening. She sat so tense she almost had blocked everything out.
“I-I” She stopped. What if they don’t believe her? She can’t keep this to herself though. “I saw ___ kissing another guy a few days ago. It wasn’t Naoe.”
Tatsuomi didn’t respond, his blank stare scared Aiko. Does he think I’m lying? She thought nervously.
“Are you sure?” Kuroko sounded skeptical.
“Yes, ____ is my friend. But I can’t just ignore what happened. It was a few days ago, I was supposed to meet her at her apartment so she could help me with some classwork. I decided to take the stairs because the elevator would’ve been too slow and when I got to her floor, I saw her kissing some guy. I was hoping it was a mistake, but it wasn’t a simple kiss. It was a deep kiss. Then he held onto her until the elevator came. It really bothers me because I know how much ____ hates-“
“Cheaters.”
Aiko froze. She didn’t want to turn around, you’re probably furious she’s telling your friends that you cheated on their other close friend.
“When exactly did this happen?” Another voice.
Taking a deep breathe Aiko turned around. Seeing you so close to Naoe was upsetting, how could you cozy up to him when your tongue was shoved down some other guys throat a few days ago? Hell, you could’ve been with the guy within the last few days too. There could even be other guys! Aiko steeled herself, ready to speak up. Determined to call you out.
She stood up to face the couple, despite feeling unsure she was able to stand up with her shoulders squared, head held high. Tatsuomi sat quietly still in the booth, while Kuroko held a hand to her mouth.
“A few days ago, I was supposed to go to ____’s apartment.” As Aiko told the story Naoe looked upset. His arm dropped from your waist and Aiko was sure he was about to call you out for cheating on him or maybe even end the relationship. Though instead of either happening, Naoe walked by Aiko and gently tugged you along with him by the hand. He stopped at the counter to make an order then headed towards a booth in the back corner.
Aiko dropped back to the booth, staring at the couple in disbelief. She turned her attention to the two sitting across from her to see Kuroko holding a hand over her mouth as her shoulders shook. “Are you laughing?”
Kuroko waved the woman off. “So, tell me, what did this man look like?”
Aiko blinked. “Uh, the lighting isn’t very good in the hallway of her apartment building, but he had light hair, his shirt was undone, and he seemed to be well built, it also looked like he had tattoos around his eyes? Might’ve been makeup.”
Kuroko turned back to look at ___ sitting in the booth, Naoe had left to get their order. “____ you better stop playing around.” She light-heartedly scolded you from across the room.
Aiko couldn’t really see you, but she was sure you had rolled her eyes at Kuroko’s comment. You turned to Aiko and waved her over.
Oh crap. Aiko frowned. Is she upset I told them? But she hates cheaters. I don’t understand. Aiko awkwardly walked towards the booth. “Hi.” She whispered.
You didn’t speak, you just sat there quietly staring at Aiko with no expression.
“Look, I can understand you’re upset. But I needed to tell someone, he should know the truth. With how much you hate cheaters I can’t believe you’d cheat on him. He was one of your best friends growing up. You told me you’d never felt that way about anyone, and I saw you kissing another guy the day I was supposed to go to your house.” Aiko was shaking she was so upset. One of the major things you started to bond over was the fact you both had fathers who cheated. It was something that you hadn’t even realized you were still hanging onto the pain of it until you started speaking to Aiko. Both of you hated cheaters, sure, you and Naoe didn’t have a family. But cheating is still horrible, from what you had told Aiko you’d been in a relationship with Naoe since high school. Eight years. Who cares how hot the guy is? You shouldn’t be tempted by some random guy.
As Aiko stood in front of you, hands shaking, Naoe joined you at the booth with drinks in hand. He slipped in the same side you were sitting on, putting himself between you and Aiko.
“Do you really think I’d invite you over at the same time a guy I was having an affair with was at my home?” You questioned as you brought your drink to your lips.
Aiko paused awkwardly. You had a point. Wait, did you and Naoe have an open relationship? Her eyes widened at the thought. “Oh my god, are you two in an open relationship?!” She screeched in the shop, thankfully there weren’t many customers. You might’ve slapped her.
“Sit down you idiot.” You hissed. Even though there weren’t that many customers Kuroko and Tatsuomi were still at the other booth and Kuroko had started laughing again.
Once she was seated Aiko’s mouth dropped open in disbelief. You had reached towards Naoe and brushed back the hair that was always in his face.
“Oh.”

Caught
When you and some of the IkeSen boys get caught being cute ft. Mitsuhide, Ieyasu, Motonari, Kanetsugu
Tumblr media
Mitsuhide:
It was early one summer morning when Mitsuhide had woken (Y/ n), though they had no business that day the rest of the Oda forces would be coming over for breakfast and lunch to check out the new garden Mitsuhide had put in as an anniversary gift for his sweet fiancé. They still had a little time before the rest of the group showed up, so Mitsuhide had decided to take his time with brushing her hair, he's done it many mornings especially on days where there was no rush or an absolute rush. He could only quietly chuckle at her sleepy expression in the mirror, eyes softly shut as she tried not to fall asleep as his fingers moved through her hair with the comb he'd run through each section. "You can rest your eyes if you'd like little mouse~ We still have some time before we have to meet the others out in the garden, so I can pick your outfit if you'd like to get a few minutes of sleep." He watched her (E/c) eyes peak open in the mirror, glancing up at him a moment before a sweet smile spread on her cheeks. "No that's fine, you've been doing a lot for me, and I like spending the mornings with you." She smiled and leaned back against him a moment, her head resting on his shoulder as his arms came down to wrap around her waist. "What can I say? You look so adorable when I spoil you little mouse." Mitsuhide pressed a kiss to the side of her head, nuzzling the spot as he closed his own golden orbs to relax with her for a moment in the warm morning air. Neither noticed the various pairs of eyes that watched from a crack in the door that led to the garden, the group had arrived early and had approached the door to give their greetings when the noticed the couple had yet to fully stir. They took the rare opportunity, Hideyoshi especially, as they had always been curious how he treated her behind closed doors. It was no secret that their princess adored the kitsune like male, she would fist fight someone for that man. (Something they got to witness firsthand; the only thing more surprising was how unsurprised Ranmaru was as he cheered for her to whoop their ass.)
Granted Hideyoshi was just a worry wart, he had always wanted to see some sort of physical proof that Mitsuhide's love ran just as deep as (Y/n)'s. So, to witness this quiet moment of peace between the two, seeing the care he took when brushing her hair and peppering kisses across her neck and cheeks. The look on his face was one no one in the Oda forces had ever seen, it was like spotting a white peacock amongst a vibrant forest. The group moved away from the door to give the couple their privacy, waiting til they were sat amongst the picnic set up to discuss what they witnessed. "Told ya he was mad for her Hideyoshi; I've seen this man lose control because her life was in danger. Nothing stirs that beast, the way she does." Masamune chuckled as he sipped on some tea the servants brought out, Nobunaga could only chuckle as he had heard Hideyoshi complain many times about various aspects of the silver fox. "It is comforting, don't get me wrong I know Mitsuhide loves (Y/n) but her devotion is absolute. So, it's nice to see the love she has for him mirrored." Hideyoshi chuckled with a relieved smile, the group watching as a white fox slipped into the garden and made its way up onto the porch. It stopped near the crack in the door, giving some soft chirps before it squeezed its way through. They of course knew Mitsuhide had Chiamaki, she would often lounge about the garden when they'd come by to deliver messages and the like. It was only a few more minutes before the couple came out, (Y/n) carrying Chiamaki carefully in her arms. They like the others were in their regular wear, comfortable and ready to enjoy some food and each other's company. "Good morning, everyone, I hope we didn't keep you waiting." Mitsuhide had stepped off the porch first, careful when helping her down, keeping a hand on her lower back as he led her to an open spot between Ranmaru and Masamune. "We haven't been here long so no worries, so what do you think of the new garden Lady (Y/n)?" Ranmaru smiled to his dear friend, watching her giggle as she sat Chiamaki between herself and Mitsuhide, the latter of which giving the little fox some head scratches. "I love it, I really wasn't expecting to come back from the hot spring vacation to find a whole new garden." Though she was still waking up, her happy energy had everyone laughing. They were surprised at first too, but after today they likely could never be surprised by his love for her again.
Tumblr media
Ieyasu:
(Y/n) smiled as she and Ieyasu approached the closed doors of the main hall, a war council had been called while they were in town. Something they had been alerted about upon arriving back to the castle, before going inside the young woman tugged his hand to stop her blonde lover so he hadn't touched the door yet. Of course he stopped, turning to look at her as he quirked an eyebrow silently. With a grin the young woman glanced around before holding up a finger she beckoned him to lean down. It was out of sheer curiosity that the blonde did so, too distracted by his lover's antics to realize they were being watched through a crack in the door. He had leaned down to about her height when soft hands suddenly cupped his cheeks, pulling him further down as her warm lips pressed gently to his forehead. His face bursts a bright cherry red, staring at her with wide astonished eyes before they narrowed affectionately, and a soft smile stretched on his face. He chuckled a bit, pressing his forehead to hers, his lips opening to give her a playful scolding. At least until the doors to their left slammed open, the two were quick to jolt away from each other to try and pretend as if they weren't just flirting in the hallways. But the smirks on Mitsuhide and Masamune's faces told them that they had been caught, with NO room for excuses.
"So lad, when were you gonna tell us you had went and got all grown up on us?" Masamune chuckled, looking between the two startled lovers. Both of which wearing cherry red faces, looking guilty beyond all belief as the other warlords looked on at them with soft knowing grins. "I'm so glad to see you're having a good day Lord Ieyasu, you must have really enjoyed shopping with Lady (Y/n) today." Mitsunari spoke up, his angelic smile as innocent as always. (Y/n) almost wanted to laugh, but Ieyasu's eyeroll showed he was less than amused. "Yeah, I was having a good day there for a while." His eye twitched as Mitsuhide began chuckling, no doubt he wouldn't be letting the younger blonde live this down for a while. "Ieyasu, if you'd like a moment to come to terms with your need to part with (Y/n) for the duration of this war council you could always ask." Nobunaga called from his dais, watching the group with a wide grin. To (Y/n) he looked like a proud father, but to Ieyasu he looked ready to tease the hell out of the blonde at the next banquet. Likely later that night since Keiji came back from one of his most recent missions, hence why the war council was taking place. "Can we not do this right now, let's just get this council over with and hear what loudmouth has to say." Ieyasu glanced between Masamune and Mitsuhide, even if they had gone rather easy on him today, he was still done with it. "Come now, no need to be embarrassed. There's no shame in loving your woman." Mitsuhide spoke up, the other warlords returning to their seats as the couple passed the fox man on their way inside. "I'm starting to think you just want to fight." Ieyasu glared at Mitsuhide as the silver haired man made his way to the spot on Nobunaga's direct left. But before he could respond to his younger, Hideyoshi had spoken up. "Alright, knock it off Mitsuhide. We have some important information to discuss, so save it for the banquet." Hideyoshi couldn't help the way the corners of his mouth twitched up, making the blonde groan in irritation. But that had successfully brought the teasing to an end, after a good laugh the war council had started. But the twitch in Ieyasu's eyebrow had (Y/n) smiling to herself in thought over how easy it was to read him. Already knowing he was preparing for the torrent that would surely come his way at tonight's banquet, she'd have to make sure to enjoy some drinks with the show.
Tumblr media
Motonari:
(Y/n) smiled in her spot next to Motonari, they had went to visit the Oda and were lucky enough to be there at the same time as Ieyasu and Masamune. Nobunaga had hosted a banquet so everyone could catch up. (Y/n) had made Motonari's food herself, knowing he wouldn't eat anyone else's coocking. When Masamune first noticed and questoned, the pirate claimed that her cooking was the best and he wouldn't have anything less. Something that had made her heart soar and caused the men in the room to chuckle at his flagrant affections. She had been pouring him drinks through the night, the sake had been sweeter than normal, and it made it easier for her to match him drink for drink without even noticing. Because of that she hadn't a clue as to when her cheeks had flushed, or her mind began to swim. She tilted her head some, smiling as she listened to her lover and Nobunaga discuss trade and foreign countries. Ever since they had begun this alliance the two had actually started to get along more and more with each meeting and drink. It made her happy, knowing the man she loved was getting along so well with her found family. Quietly moving forward, Motonari hadn't noticed her until she had curled her arm around his and pressed a bit closer. He did his best not to blush, glancing at her curiously as she leaned her head on his shoulder. But still he carried his conversation, ignoring the glances he got from the other warlords as they took notice to the affection. When Hideyoshi came to speak with Nobunaga the pirate turned to looked at her once more, his lips quirking up. "Someone's being bold, getting handsy in front of your friends?" He raised an eyebrow, watching her glassy eyes drift over as a sweet and lazy smile spread across her cute puffy face. "I can't help it, you're so smart it's cute." She giggled, a soft slur to her words though it was still easy to make out.
Motonari's face went blank with surprise, sure they had drunk their fill before but in those times her affection had been shyer and sweeter. But it seemed the energy of the party brought out her bolder side, as she didn't seem to care that her friends could see. "I am not cute, you're just drunk." He frowned, though it looked more like a pout, reaching up a gloved hand to playfully pinch her cheek. "Deny it all you want, but you won't fool me.~" She winked at him, her warm hand coming up to grasp his before she placed a kiss to his palm, batting her lashes at him as she gazed up into his eyes. A light pink came to the top of her cheeks, the dreamy look on her face making his chest feel flushed and heavy. "You need to drink something, here." He spoked quickly, murmuring as he reached for a glass and filled it with water. He was gentle in placing the cup in her hands, crimson eyes locked on her form as he made sure she didn't drop the glass. Despite his flustered state, he didn't try to move away from her. In fact, after she sat her cup down his arm had curled around her waist and pulled her further into his side. "You're not gonna be able to tell how cold you are when you're drunk like this, so stay close that way I can keep you warm." He looked off the side, swallowing down his glass of sake as he glared at Mitsuhide who watched the two with a teasing smirk. As if to spite him and prove he wasn't flustered he pulled her in his lap, staring Mitsuhide in the eye with a challenging smirk as she giggled at his sudden affection and leaned her head back on his shoulder. "See, told you. Cute." Motonari looked over at her, raising an eyebrow as he nipped at her ear. A giggling yelp escaped her as she leaned forward, her hands coming up to cover her ears as he held her tight around the waist. "I don't wanna hear it from you brat, now pick something to eat. With all the drinking you've been doing we need to get some more food in your stomach." He smirked at her, enjoying his playful revenge. He knew they were being watched, but at this point he couldn't bring himself to give a damn. If anything, he was establishing dominance, proving she was his and he'd be damned if anyone thought that would change.

Kanetsugu:
Today was delivery day for (Y/n) and so she had been out in town, running about the area to drop off her commissions. Some of the orders had consisted of multiple kimonos, because of this one of her seamstress friends had decided to help her. Meanwhile Kanetsugu had a half day when it came to work, he was meant to be in a nearby town doing a quick check of its status, but it had gone so smoothly that he had gotten back before noon. Deciding to take advantage of the good weather he had gone out into the castle garden to read a book, resting against a cherry blossom tree that sat beside a small koi pond. He didn't know where all his lover would have to go, since he had left before she officially got up for the day. So, he decided to wait for her return, already knowing she'd be tuckered out as she was with every delivery day. It was about an hour after lunch that (Y/n) returned to the castle, she had been on her way back to their shared room when she spotted her silver haired lover in the garden. With a tired smile she made her approach, something he noticed immediately as he seemed to look before her feet had even touched the ground. "That's the poetry book you got in town the other day, isn't it? How is it?" She approached him, watching him with a soft smile as he observed her. "Pretty good, it's mostly new poets so it's been rather interesting." Kanetsugu watched her approach, pulling her into his lap once she was close enough and chuckling to himself at the surprise yelp that escaped her. Though she quickly melted into him, folding her legs against his as she leaned into his chest. "Your feet must be hurting, I heard from Sasuke you had so many orders you needed help carrying them." He spoke softly, gentle hands removing her sandals and resting them nearby as he lightly massaged her feet as best he could to relieve some of the tension, the pleased hum that left her reassuring him he was helping. "Yeah, this month was busy. I had a lot of requests for a wardrobe worth of kimono, but now that I've finished that batch of requests, I can take a break. Technically an order from Kenshin, but I was gonna take one anyways. The weather has been so nice I've been wanting to nap around a bit." She closed her eyes, basking in the warmth of his embrace as he readjusted them, so he was leaning further back against the tree. "Yeah? Then go ahead and take a nap. I'll wake you when it's dinner time." He rubbed soothing circles on her back, watching her sew for hours sometimes made his own back ache. He knew how much she valued her work.
"Alright, that sounds nice….*Yawn* After dinner we should have a drink and star gaze, the sky has looked so pretty these last few nights." She snuggled closer to him, her kimono almost like a blanket as he kept her held close to him. His book resting beside her shoes, long forgotten in the warm air of the quiet day. It was only a few hours later that Sasuke came looking for them, stopping short when he noticed the two sleeping against the tree. The ninja watched his friends sleeping soundly, considering turning around and leaving. But before he could Kanetsugu had begun to stir, amethyst eyes glancing around blearily. Only to stop on Sasuke and widen, his pale cheeks flushing pink when he realized they had been caught in the garden. Sasuke's hands came up, a quick motion to signal peace. "I won't tell anyone, I promise." He spoke quickly, not wanting to irritate the so called "man of the house" any further than he already had. Kanetsugu gently cradled the back of his lover's head, slowly sitting up to not disturb her sleep. "What did you need Sasuke?" He spoke flatly, trying to force down his embarrassment while looking around to figure out the time. "It's almost time for dinner, everyone is already gathered. Lord Kenshin sent me to get you, since you weren't there first like you usually are." He looked off to the side, not wanting to further embarrass the male by staring at just how carefully he was holding Sasuke's sleeping friend. Honestly Sasuke was happy for both of them, there was never any doubt that Kanetsugu would take care of his dear friend. But moments like this had him cheering them on louder, he'd fight someone for trying to break up his OTP if he had to. Something he and Hime would joke up when it was just them talking in the corner of a banquet, they'd often share drinks as Hime fawned over Kanetsugu and the things he had done recently to make her smile. Of course if the wisteria scented male knew of these conversations, he'd probably never trust them alone again. "Alright, let Lord Kenshin know we're on our way." Kanetsugu sighed out, waving the other male off so he could rouse his lover for her well earned meal.

Making no sound Yet burning with love, Fireflies far More than chirping insects, Move me. —Minamoto no Shigeyuki
A/N: For @aquagirl1978 and @violettduchess's Summer Days Sultry Nights event. It's my first time participating in an event! :D The prompt I chose is fireflies and it's a Kanetsugu fluff fic. Dividers by saradika. Forgive the slightly anachronistic prose lol
Tumblr media
I haven’t seen fireflies since I was a child.
It had been a passing remark, a slide of fingers across the textured roll of fabric patterned with glowing fireflies. In your gaze an odd sheen flickered and faded – blinked away – that Kanetsugu caught, stole his steps and his attention. But you’d already moved on to the next item.
He lingered, however, arrested by this seemingly negligible thing, eyes falling upon the object in question – a column of benighted forest hue, spattered with yellow-green dots that counted as lights, nostalgic in a way that invited a quiet contemplation.
You hadn’t seen fireflies since you were a child.
Later, as he’d lay with you on the futon, your warmth seeping into his skin, Kanetsugu would dream of floating orbs amidst a beautiful night, playfully dancing, up and up and up.
Tumblr media
“Summer is upon us,” Sasuke said, falling into step beside him.
Kanetsugu ignored the man. He had just finished meeting with Lord Kenshin for an update about his territories and was on his way to the library when the ninja suddenly appeared.
It didn’t deter Sasuke at least. “Make sure your face is UV-protected.”
Not knowing what that meant, Kanetsugu continued walking.
But Sasuke kept on, unbothered by the lack of conversational reciprocation, “You’ve already done well with your body – covered and all that.” He glanced at Kanetsugu’s clothes, then hummed in thought. “I suppose it’s not that difficult to invent sunscreen …”
Kanetsugu let Sasuke talk some more.
“That reminds me – according to my calculations, it’s approximately three weeks from now that the Nigami Firefly Festival will begin.”
That rendered Kanetsugu pause.
He turned to Sasuke, felt his brows dip low. “What?”
“I once took my niece to a firefly viewing in Joetsu – which, by the way, is the future name of –”
“I see,” Kanetsugu interrupted. He pivoted to another hallway and left the ninja blinking, confused.
He’d forgo the library today, it seemed.
Tumblr media
Lord Kenshin ordered Kanetsugu to quell a minor rebellion three towns away. That required him to travel a week or two, depending on the size of the men and the number of horses his lord would allow him.
On the way to his destination, he and his men stopped by a village at the foot of a mountain to spend the night. The villagers were welcoming of them, having met Kanetsugu a year before in another mission. He was a familiar and memorable face, one that brought a delighted smile upon the village leader – and a score of young women.
“Lord Kanetsugu,” the leader greeted him warmly, “it is an honor to have you rest for the night in our humble village.”
They made him and his men a sumptuous dinner – rather, a feast – which he tried to refuse at first. But his companions stared at the offerings with great eagerness, so Kanetsugu relented with a condition or two.
In the middle of the meal a girl came up to him with large, trusting eyes and an enthusiastic smile, and told him, “There are pretty dancing lights outside!”
Food set aside, Kanetsugu permitted the child to lead him to the forest right outside the village. They walked for a while, the child never breaking pace, and before Kanetsugu questioned the girl’s knowledge of the area she skidded to a halt, spun around to grab Kanetsugu’s hand, and with a vibrating grin she proclaimed, “We’re here!”
Kanetsugu blinked and looked around, and found what the girl was talking about. He heard himself take a sharp inhale, his body frozen taut with a memory.
Moments later he patted the girl’s hand on his and murmured, “Thank you.”
As they stood there, an idea formed within Kanetsugu’s mind.
Tumblr media
“Clear your schedule for a week,” Kanetsugu announced right after coming back from his mission, opening the sliding door of his office with solid intent. “We will go somewhere.”
Perched at the center of the room, you paused from your work, wide-eyed surprise melting into excitement. The garment you’d been commissioned splayed on your lap like fishtail. “Oh! Is it a date?”
A barbed denial spiked through his mouth, but you’re blooming like an eager flower facing the sun, so he swallowed that reflex. Instead he answered, “Yes.”
Your smile rivaled the sun, your hands curling to form a heart. Kanetsugu squinted, and shifted his stance. “Then I’m looking forward to it!”
Kanetsugu exhaled, tamped down the rush of heat in his veins, and went back to work.
Tumblr media
The journey back to the village went faster than last time. The residents welcomed them again cordially, and you and Kanetsugu stayed there for a while before he took your hand and led you outside.
He remembered the directions the little girl took the first time. Night had arrived, the full moon illumining the leaves with its silver light. It was also a good time for stargazing, but Kanetsugu had another plan in mind.
“Where are we going?” you asked, your voice inquisitive, your hand kept warm in his.
When Kanetsugu peered at your expression, shafts of moonlight sliced through the canopy and grazed parts of your face, one iris aglow – a tenebrist diptych of curiosity. It made you seem ethereal, a part of the forest night’s wonder. Something translucent and could easily slip through fingers. Kanetsugu let out a quiet breath, returned his attention to the front, quelled the nervous pace of his heart.
He stopped all of a sudden, which elicited a sound from you, almost colliding with him. Still holding your hand, Kanetsugu whirled around, and the spill of moonlight shifted to illuminate your whole face.
“Watch,” he said.
And you studied your surroundings, waiting for anything. Then: one by one, in the near-complete darkness, they sprung to life. Fireflies. Little yellow-gold lights playfully whirling and twirling in the air. One brushed past Kanetsugu's nose and then flickered away, and your silverbell laughter filled the spattered night.
“They’re beautiful,” you tell Kanetsugu, the curve of your mouth soft and warm. You extended a hand, palm up, and one hovered for a couple of seconds then moved on. The look you gave him afterwards arrested him. “Thank you for taking me here.”
“After what you’d said before, I had to do something at the very least.”
There’s a puzzled silence, your head tilting in question.
“You haven’t seen fireflies since you were a child,” he elaborated.
It wasn’t immediate when you put the pieces together. But when you did, surprise rippled throughout your body, and Kanetsugu was tempted to push closed your gaping mouth.
“Did I say that?”
“Yes.”
“When?”
Kanetsugu sighed. “When you were perusing some fabrics in the market. There was one designed with fireflies, and you commented upon it.”
“Oh,” you said, dazed. “You remembered that? I didn’t!”
“Of course I remembered,” he said, tone almost offended. But then – a whisper: “I remember everything when it comes to you.”
It sounded like a confession, but you knew the depth of Kanetsugu’s love and devotion. Still – it felt embarrassing. Vulnerable, even.
Still.
“Kanetsugu,” you breathed. Like a prayer. Like a marvel. Like the hundreds of fireflies dancing around them.
Kanetsugu swallowed.
“I love you,” you said, impeccably, implacably, an arrow hitting dead center. “I love you so much, Kanetsugu.”
He exhaled a long breath. “I know. And I you.”
You smiled, and it was more radiant and more beautiful than the fireflies and the moon and the star-filled sky tonight. You stepped closer to Kanetsugu, wrapped your arms around him tight, and sighed happily. He reciprocated the act, his arms molding snugly across your back.
Around you the fireflies continued dancing, their lights burning brightly.

You waited until you heard the bathroom door close and the shower turn on before you snuck down the hall into your brother’s bedroom. Since he worked long hours as a cop and usually came home exhausted, the room was a complete mess. Dirty clothes were thrown everywhere, snack wrappers and empty chip bags were overflowing from the trash bin and his bed was littered with files, paperwork, and photographs.
You glanced out into the hall, hearing your brother singing off-key over the sound of the running water before you pulled the door to and rushed over to the bed. Rumors had been going around lately about some teenage boy being poisoned after ingesting some candy, but the police only said that they were investigating the issue and had no more comments. You knew it was more than just a rumor. Right after the story broke, your brother started going in earlier and coming home later, clearly dedicating his time to this case.
Now, you intended to find proof. What you were going to do with this information, you didn’t know, but you needed to know. Ever since you were a child, you had always sought out mysteries even where there were none, wanting to follow in the footsteps of Sherlock Holmes and Detective Conan. This often led you into more trouble than anything and your brother had warned you about trying to be a sleuth, not that you were any less determined to do so.
You settled down on the bed, flipping through the various manila folders to find any information that may be related to the poisoning. The file in question was on the very bottom of the pile, holding the least amount of information of them all. That wasn’t too surprising since the story only broke a week prior.
Your eyes quickly scanned the information and you learned that the victim was a third year in high school, a boy named Tatsuka who died from ingesting cyanide. It was believed that Halloween candy was the source, but they had no evidence to prove this.
You frowned, leaning back against the headboard. Most kids knew about the tall tales told each Halloween describing poisoned candy, some tainted with razors embedded deep within the sugary treats. Parents feared the possibility of this being true, warning their children and wanting to inspect the candy before their kids ate any. Their kids, on the other hand, didn’t believe in such stories and just wanted their sugary high.
Was this just a coincidence? Or was this the beginning of a series of candy-related murders?
You heard the shower turn off and cursed, quickly tossing the file back on the bottom of the pile and rushing for the door. You only just barely made it into your room before you heard the bathroom door creak open and your brother humming as he passed by.
───── ⋆⋅🎃⋅⋆ ─────
You knocked on the front door of the Mihashi’s home, waiting patiently for your aunt or cousin to open the door. You had spent the better part of the hour attempting to distract your brother so you could check his files again, but he wasn’t having it and eventually just told you to go visit your cousin down the block before he either committed murder or handcuffed you in the closet. Neither option seemed appealing, so you decided to honor his request.
Naoe Mihashi pulled open the door and a bright smile spread across her face before she pulled you into a tight hug. “Y/N, you should have told me you were stopping by! Come in out of the cold, I’ll make you some hot chocolate.”
“I was hoping you’d say that, oba-chan.” You grinned, following the older woman into the home. “No one makes hot chocolate like you do.”
“If you’re trying to flatter me, it’s working!” She laughed, putting her hand on her cheek.
“Is Ren home?”
“Yes. He’s in his room studying with his friends.”
“Oh?” You leaned back to see the staircase through the kitchen archway. “Which ones?”
“Tajima-kun and Izumi-kun.”
You perked up at the mention of Izumi, feeling your heart flutter in your chest. She seemed to notice how you brightened up and she smiled.
“Why don’t you go say hi? I’ll call for you once the hot chocolate once it’s ready.”
“Okay,” you grinned, not wasting a moment before you rushed up the stairs, coming to a stop in front of your cousin’s bedroom door, your knuckles rapping against the wood.
“Come in!”
You pushed the door open and smiled. “Hey, Ren.”
Ren’s face lit up when he saw you and he jumped up to greet you but he wasn’t fast enough. Tajima shot across the room like a rocket, his arms tight around your waist and his face buried in your chest. “Y/N~! I missed you so much.”
You tched, attempting to pry the boy off of you but he wouldn’t budge. Had he glued his hands together behind you? “You saw me yesterday at school, now let go.”
He pouted up at you. “I never get to see you because you’re a third year, it’s not fair.”
“That honestly sounds like a you problem.” You put both hands on his forehead and shoved as hard as you could, taking him by surprise but he recovered quickly, slipping out of your grip so he could tighten his arms.
Izumi sighed, standing up to try and assist you. “Will you let go? This is why Y/N never visits us.”
You met his dark blue eyes and smiled, biting your lip to stop yourself from doing to him what Tajima was currently doing to you. You figured that would be a bit hypocritical. “Thanks.”
“Of course,” he smiled back, grabbing the back of Tajima’s shirt and tugging him back, finally managing to pry him away from you.
Ren stood up slowly, playing with his hands as he glanced at you before looking away only to look back at you and then look away again, waiting for you to give him the okay before he moved closer to you. You chuckled at his demeanor, opening your eyes out to him. His eyes sparkled with happiness as he rushed forward to wrap his arms around you.
You hugged him softly, patting the top of his soft brown locks. “How are you doing?”
He pulled away, smiling softly as he motioned toward the table where the other two boys sat. “We’re studying for a test on Monday. Do you… want to help?”
“Uh…” You rubbed the back of your neck, giving him a sheepish smile. “I’m not much smarter than you guys, but I can certainly try.” You settled down at one of the four corners of the square table, sliding your legs beneath the blanket to keep warm.
While you did your best to help them with their studying, you kept finding yourself getting distracted. How could you not, when Izumi was sitting across from you looking so damn adorable? He’d try and solve the problem, biting his lip as he read it over and over again before running his hand through his hair, making it look messier than usual. Ah, if only he wasn’t your cousin’s friend, you’d totally be asking him out.
Tajima exhaled dramatically, sprawling across the small table and disrupting the other two boys. “Y/N, are you gonna go trick or treating with us?”
Izumi tugged his workbook from beneath the boy’s arm, sending him a pointed look. “Of course not. Y/N is too old for that.”
“You make me sound ancient.” You frowned, crossing your arms over your chest. You didn’t know which worried you more – the fact that he thought you were old or the fact that they were planning on going trick or treating when there was a poisoner running wild. “Maybe you guys should just, I don’t know, throw a party or something instead.”
Tajima’s eyes lit up. “That’s a great idea! We can host it at the school!”
You doubted the staff would sign off on that, but you were just satisfied that you had dissuaded them from their previous plans. “It doesn’t hurt to try. Hell, you can even start a petition, get everyone to sign.”
“You can’t be serious.” Izumi looked between the two of you wearily, trying to figure out what was going through your head. “No one is going to want to spend Halloween at the school when they can go trick or treating.”
You frowned, leaning forward to rest your arms on the table. “There will be unlimited candy without the effort. Who wouldn’t love that?”
Naoe appeared in the doorway. “The hot chocolate is ready and the cookies will be ready in a few minutes.”
“Sweet!” Tajima jumped up, rushing out of the room with an excited Ren close behind.
Izumi waited until she followed the boys downstairs before he leaned toward you. “Why are you pushing this so hard?”
You looked into his eyes, wondering if you should tell him the truth. You didn’t want to freak him out, though. “I just… want you guys to be safe.”
“Why wouldn’t we be safe?”
“The world is a crazy place, you never know what -” You stopped yourself and offered him a smile. “Come on, before the drinks get cold.”
Before you could stand, he reached over and rested his hand over yours, making your body freeze up and your mind short circuit. “Are you worried about those rumors?”
You couldn’t tear your eyes away from his hand, swallowing hard before answering. “Um… maybe.”
“They’re just rumors,” he replied confidently. “We’ll be fine, so stop worrying so much.” And just like that, he removed his hand before leaving the room.
You rested your hand over your racing heart, cursing yourself for being so weak around him. More importantly, you were worried that he still intended to go trick or treating. The thought of him eating poisoned candy had your heart racing for an entirely different reason.
───── ⋆⋅🎃⋅⋆ ─────
Knowing that Izumi refused to be swayed by the rumors, you decided to try a different tactic. If you solved the case before Halloween, he and your cousin would be safe because the culprit would be behind bars. With this in mind, you entered sleuth mode and everyone was a suspect. You started following people around, taking note of their movements and their purchases, their meetings, even their daily meals – no information was safe from you and your determination.
You pushed your sunglasses up when they started to slip down your nose, the baseball cap pulled down to shade your eyes, and a mask covering the lower half of your nose. Since it was cold, you also wore your black hoodie, the hood half on your head. No matter who looked at you, they thought you were suspicious as hell, especially when they realized you were watching a young girl, jotting down notes every few minutes.
The girl, a second-year named Mika, entered the candy store which, to you, seemed highly suspicious. If she was the poisoner, she would need candy! Determined to catch her in the act, you started toward the candy store only for a hand to grab your shoulder, stopping you in your tracks. With a scowl, you whipped around.
“What the hell, ma – oh, hello officer.”
The officer quirked a brow, giving you a once over. “We had several calls of a suspicious person stalking a young girl. I don’t suppose you know anything about that?”
“No, I don’t. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m busy.” You tried to continue on your way but his hand was still firmly on your shoulder, keeping you in place.
“I’m going to have to ask you to come with me.”
Before you could reply, your brother came walking up, holding a steaming cup of coffee in his hand. “Did you find the creep?”
“Yeah.”
You scowled. “I am no creep!”
“Y/N?” Your brother’s brow shot up in surprise and he reached forward to remove your glasses. “You’re the creep?”
“I just said I’m not a creep, man.”
The first officer looked at his partner wearily. “You know this creep?”
“I swear to god -“
“Yeah, that creep is my sibling.”
“Son of a – I’m not a creep!”
“Y/N, is that you?”
Your body tensed at the new voice coming from behind you, one so familiar that you’d recognize it anywhere. You sent your brother an SOS look but he just sipped his coffee, earning a glare from you before you slowly turned to face Izumi, a sheepish smile on your face. “H-Hey, Izumi…”
“Why are you dressed like a creep?”
Your brother snorted, spilling coffee onto the ground. You glared at him but he just smirked, looking at his partner. “Come on, let’s get back to our patrol.”
“Yeah, sure.” The first officer sent you a look, shook his head, and then followed your brother away.
You cleared your throat as you turned back to Izumi. “So… what brings you here?”
He nodded his head toward the candy store. “My mom asked me to buy candy to hand out for Halloween. What about you?”
Your eyes flickered to the store, wondering if you had lost the girl in the commotion. “Um… I was just walking by.”
He smiled. “Do you want to join me?”
“Yes,” you replied without much thought, following the boy into the store. You looked around for your suspect but she was gone, making you curse. “Izumi… are you still going to go trick or treating?”
He hummed, picking up a bag of assorted candies. “You’re not still worried about it, are you?”
You didn’t reply as you looked around the store. When you were satisfied that no one was within earshot, you leaned closer to him, lowering your voice. “Look, I didn’t want to say anything until I had proof, but I looked through my brother’s files.”
Izumi gave you a pointed look. “He’s going to kill you if he finds out.”
You waved him off. “That’s beside the point. There’s an ongoing investigation, the rumors are true – some teenager was poisoned after ingesting candy laced with cyanide.”
His eyes widened as they turned to you and he nearly dropped the bag he was holding. “Are you… you’re serious about this?”
“Unfortunately. I know I have no right to ask you, but…” You reached for his hand, looking deep into his eyes. “Please… don’t eat any candy until this is solved. I swear I will catch the culprit.”
He shifted his hand so he could link his fingers through yours. “It’s too dangerous for you to chase after a killer. You have to leave it to the police.”
“Don’t worry, I’ve totally got this.”
───── ⋆⋅🎃⋅⋆ ─────
“I don’t got this,” you breathed out heavily, your heart pounding against your chest. Your back was pressed against the barn wall, hidden behind a stack of wheat that had been compacted into rectangles. The killer was nearby, hunting for you so he could stop you before you blew the whistle on his plans.
How had it come to this?
Well, you had been following the English teacher to see what he was up to when you received a text message from an unknown number. The message was fairly simple, claiming to have information that could lead you to the poisoner in question, but they said they were scared for their life and refused to meet in public. They wanted to meet at the old barn at the edge of town.
Now, every fiber of your being said this was a bad idea. You knew it was, but… if their information was legit, they could lead you to the killer and if you caught the killer, you would be the hero that saved Halloween. Izumi would look at you with admiration and maybe even love. How could you possibly pass up that opportunity?
Simple. You couldn’t.
How were you supposed to know that it was the killer trying to lure you out to your doom? That kind of thing is only supposed to happen in the movies!
You took a deep breath to try and calm your nerves. ‘Keep it together, Y/N. You are strong and awesome. So what if this guy has already killed someone and possibly hid a corpse in the woods? He’s got nothing on you!’ You winced at the thought. Okay, maybe not the best way to hype yourself up.
The doors of the barn slowly creaked open, moonlight spilling into the darkness. In his hand was a syringe filled with cyanide, his weapon of choice for your murder. His dark eyes scanned the empty barn, looking for any sign of disturbances that could point him in the direction you had gone.
You swallowed hard, taking small breaths so he wouldn’t hear you. What were you going to do? First, you had to figure out how to get that syringe away from him. You pictured all those action movies you’ve watched, where they did these fancy kicks to get the gun away from the criminal. You could certainly give it a try, but flexibility was not on your side and neither was martial arts. That left you with only one thing – the element of surprise and your strong will.
‘Wait, that’s two things. Plus, he probably has a strong will to murder me and a strong will to not get caught… but I have a stronger will, powered by love! So let’s do this, you bastard.’ Your eyes fell on a rusted pitchfork that sat a foot away from you, stabbed into a mess of hay. That could work well in your favor since it kept you far enough away to avoid the syringe but still gave you room to attack. You slowly edged your way along the wall, reaching for the tool. You gripped the handle so tightly that your knuckles hurt, but that was the least of your worries. ‘It’s time to be a hero and win over Izumi’s heart!’
With a battle cry, you darted from around the stack of hay, brandishing the pitchfork in front of you like a battering ram.
“Freeze! Put the weapon down or we’ll shoot!”
You froze in place at the demand, a flashlight being shone in your face as several men wearing bulletproof vests aimed their guns at you. The killer was on his knees, hands in the air as one of the officers moved to handcuff him. The syringe of cyanide was laying a few feet away, the needle stuck in the wooden floorboard.
“Drop the weapon!” the officer barked again.
Though you needed to be told twice, you dropped the pitchfork before he finished his sentence, your hands shooting up into the air. This is so not how you pictured this night coming to an end. The cops were going to take credit for your hard work!
“Don’t shoot! That’s my sibling!” Your brother pushed through the crowd of officers, his expression panicked as he rushed over to you, pulling you into a tight hug. This was especially jarring because he had never been the hugging type. “What the hell were you thinking, you idiot?”
You frowned over his shoulder, watching the man be whisked away by a group of cops. ‘There goes my chance to be the hero…’

You lay on your bed, staring up at the ceiling as you tossed up a baseball, catching it in your hand before tossing it up again. Your brother had grounded you for the next six years, which meant you weren’t allowed to leave the house and you weren’t allowed to enjoy Halloween. On the bright side, the killer was now behind bars, the poisoned candy was confiscated, and your friends were safe to enjoy as much sugar as they wanted. As part of your punishment, your brother refused to allow your name to be added to the news story and they just ended up thanking an ‘unnamed student that helped police in the capture.’
Even if you wanted to tell people that you were the unnamed student, you doubted they would believe you. They’d probably just say you were grabbing for attention, which didn’t really bother you, but you worried about if Izumi would feel the same way.
“Knock, knock.”
You glanced over at the door. “Izumi!” You forgot about the ball and it fell down onto your head, making you wince.
The corner of his lips twitched up in amusement as he walked farther into the room. “How are you? Mihashi said you were grounded.”
“Yeah… I’m fine all things considered.” You shifted so your back was against the headboard and you picked up the baseball, fidgeting with it.
“What did you do?” He settled down at your desk, looking at you curiously.
“It was the files. He found out about them.”
Izumi hummed. “Really?”
“Yup.”
“I assumed it was because you nearly died after confronting the killer.”
Your eyes widened, snapping over to him. “How…”
“Mihashi told me. He started crying when he found out.”
“Oh…” Guilt filled you at the thought of your cousin curled into himself, tears flowing from his eyes as he pictured your lifeless body.
“What you did was really stupid.”
“So I’ve heard.”
“Do you have any idea how scared I was when he told me what you did? I thought…” He bit his lip as you turned your head to meet his eyes. “I thought I had lost you.”
“You’ll never lose me,” you mumbled.
“Why did you do it?” he questioned softly. “Why are you so obsessed with being the hero?”
“For you.”
“What?”
“I wanted to impress you,” you frowned, leaning your head back to look up at the ceiling. “I thought if I became the hero and saved Halloween, I could finally confess to you and actually have a chance.”
“You don’t have to be a hero to get my attention,” he replied, a soft blush on his cheeks. “You’ve had my attention since day one.”
You met his eyes, looking for any sign that he was joking or messing with you, but you found only sincerity. “I really like you, Izumi Kousuke.”
He smiled, standing up so he could settle down on the side of your bed. “I really like you, too, Y/N,” he told you softly, leaning forward to capture your lips. You smiled into the kiss, gripping his shirt and tilting your head. It was just as amazing as you had always dreamed it would be.
Frantic clapping filled the room, making the two of you break apart and look toward the door where Mihashi stood, looking as happy as a child on Christmas. “I-I’m so happy for you, Y/N-chan! You finally confessed to him!”
You chuckled, giving him a thumbs up. Izumi shook his head but he couldn’t stop the smile spreading across his face as he reached for your hand.
