How do you rank the prosecutors on order of homophobia
forgot about this in my drafts for literally months oops. Anyway. Finished now!!!!
So I made this post a while ago that has some of the prosecutors and antagonists, but if you want a ranking of EVERY prosecutor (not including DGS bc i haven't finished yet) huzzah!!
Simon Blackquill: Not actually homophobic but he gets points docked for siccing Taka (known homophobe) at Klavier (known bisexual) for stealing his pretzels from the office pantry that one time. 3/10
Blaise Debeste: I think he's gay but he made me look at that ugly ass beard for far too long and I consider that disrespectful. out of principle? 8/10
Sebastian Debeste: Just look at him. 0/10
Miles Edgeworth: Bratworth was simultaneously gay, homophobic, and a misogynist, and eventually develops into a man who is only like 1.5 of those things. he's getting better. 5/10
Byrne Faraday: I don't really think he cares much about gay people he's busy being a single father and stealing shit. For the apathy? 2/10
Klavier Gavin: He's extremely gay and does a lot of work for the gay community but making Ema Skye deal with him is explicitly lesbophobic so 4/10
Godot: He has a lovely wife but whatever he was doing with Ron DeLite was probably not osha-compliant. I don't know what that means for his sexuality or stance on gay people and neither does he. ?/10
Ga'ran: I think she has a lot of other problems she should deal with first but considered she's bigoted to defense attorneys I don't think her being homophobic would be that out of pocket. Not sure I want to find out. 7/10
Neil Marshall: Have you ever been a gay bar? This guy would do NUMBERS. Also, real cowboys support gay rights. 0/10
Gaspen Payne: Being homophobic is actually why he got fired by the prosecutor's office and Winston is really fucking embarrassed about it. 10/10
Winston Payne: You'd think he'd be homophobic but you can't work for the Japanifornia Prosecutor's Office and hate gay people or you would actually go insane. He's like that one suburban guy who uses terms from the 60s but has the spirit. However, his ally lapel pin is really ugly so 3/10
Jaques Portman: He was calling Edgeworth slurs even before realizing he was gay. 9/10
Lana Skye: Dated Mia in college but refused to explain that to Ema because she has a lot of internalized homophobia and other weird issues of self. Repressed yuri personified. 1/10
Nahyuta Sahdmadhi: He supports gay people but gets all his talking points from the internet so even though he's supportive he's also incredibly fucking annoying about it and no one wants to invite him to brunch because of it. Stop using twitter for fact-checking you jackass. 2/10
Franziska Von Karma: Despite the fact that her lesbianism is so strong it borders on misandry, I think she has a lot of internalized homophobia so she spends the first 25 years of her life being a judgmental little shit. She'll get better dw about it. I believe she can bring that number down with time. 6/10
Manfred Von Karma: I think when he finds out Edgeworth is gay he starts going to gay bars and picking up dudes just to show Edgeworth he has way more rizz than him. Considering how people in my notes have told me on numerous occasions how much they want him carnally, I think he could actually pull it off. In that respect I think he's done a lot for the gay community. It ends up cancelling out somewhat because I think he'd be kind of an ass about it. 4/10

I'm only in the beginning of Ace Attorney case 6-5, and I've already imagined a possible way for the last chapter/case to go. I will go ahead and call this an AU because canon never tends to go exactly as I picture it in my head but, here goes.
The notes for my Spirit of Justice AU: Turnabout Absolution!
It all starts when Dhurke kicks off his revolution after somehow obtaining the Founder's Orb.
(To add to that, Maya is safe and there's no hard feelings from Phoenix, he lost to Apollo fair and square.)
Part of the revolution is exposing the rampant corruption of the Ga'ran regime, and just how many innocent people were put to death under the Defense Culpability Act. After Dhurke's agents bring him court records, he and Apollo do extensive fact checking on each case.
Dhurke decides he'll let Apollo hold on to the evidence to keep it safe. Apollo is hopeful that they'll build a case and present it together.
Another part (both personal and important) to Dhurke's revolution is saving Nahyuta from the Queen's influence before it's too late.
Dhurke is able to convince Nahyuta to meet with him because he's finally learned what happened to his late wife - Nahyuta's mother.
The truth is simple: Nahyuta's mother, like many of the other victims, was actually murdered by one of Justice Minister Inga's agents in order to silence those who dared go against the Crown.
Before Dhurke can tell the whole truth (He only gets as far as "Your mother wasn't killed by who you think-") - history repeats itself.
Dhurke and Nahyuta are attacked by one of Inga’s agents. The gunman is unmistakably aiming at Nahyuta.
Dhurke takes a shot to his right shoulder defending his son. He wastes no time and grabs Nahyuta’s arm, trying to flee the scene. Pushing through his injury, Dhurke leads them down the back roads and hidden alleys. He hopes they can reach the safe house where Apollo and Datz are staying.
They don’t quite make it to their destination. Their pursuer catches up to them with backup. There’s a final confrontation. One of the agents shoots Dhurke in a vital spot. He fights back, but he’s unable to stop them from shoving a rifle in the terrified, frozen Nahyuta’s hands and fleeing the scene.
Shortly after, the local, public police arrive at the scene just in time to see Dhurke fall, and Nahyuta with what appears to be a murder weapon in hand. They quickly arrest him.
The next morning, Apollo and Datz learn the bad news. There is little time for mourning, since Nahyuta will need a lawyer.
Apollo refuses to believe Nahyuta is guilty and wants to hear his side of the story. On the way he encounters Phoenix, who offers to help him navigate the Khura'inese courtroom.
Together they go to the detention center. Nahyuta’s demeanor is completely changed, he is despondent and has deep regrets about his father’s death, and how he couldn’t do anything to stop it.
No one will represent him in court, and won't even hear what he has to say. Nahyuta sees this as his divine punishment for all the people he got declared guilty. "Perhaps at least some of them were innocent..."
Apollo gets right to the point, and says he'll defend Nahyuta if no one else will.
Nahyuta outright refuses. He tries to put up his walls, saying he never asked for Apollo's help and this is his business, so both he and Phoenix should just stay out of it.
Apollo doesn't back down.
"Before he was killed, Dhur- ... Dad and I talked, about a lot of things. He told me all his work to change Khura'in wouldn't be complete unless he was able to save you."
Nahyuta is on the verge of tears, but holds them in. "That fool. He wanted to save me so much he died trying..."
Phoenix asks Nahyuta to be honest about what he means by that.
Nahyuta tells the two lawyers everything he remembers from that night.
"I know when Her Benevolence Rayfa performs the Divination seance, I will look as guilty as I appear."
Phoenix thinks the Divination Seance may have a way of proving Nahyuta's innocence, since he's used them as evidence before. With his knowledge, and Apollo's perception, they won't lose.
Nahyuta is actually touched by Apollo and Phoenix's willingness to help him. He warns them that the trial will not be easy, since he has no idea who the prosecution will be. But he agrees to let the two lawyers be his counsel.
Although Apollo has some feelings of grief and sadness, he has to focus on the case. He and Phoenix return to the safe house. There they meet Datz - who is both tearful, but determined to carry out Dhurke's will.
They work through the night putting evidence together and investigating the town for clues. They get little sleep, as the day of the trial looms over them.
The trial starts. Queen Ga'ran herself and Minister of Justice Inga lead the prosecution. Princess Rayfa has to do the Divination Seance, but her steps are reluctant.
As expected the vision incriminates Nahyuta, but Apollo breaks it down gradually.
Apollo's perception works on some witnesses. Phoenix handles those who are in control of their tells by using the Magatama and breaking their psyche locks.
The evidence and testimony start to paint a clear picture for the gallery and the judge. Her Majesty Ga'ran and Minister Inga have been lying, not just about Nahyuta's guilt, but almost every defendant prosecuted under the DC Act.
Even the verdict against the now late Dhurke Sadhmadi was false, since he did not assassinate Queen Amara. Ga'ran convinced Inga to do the deed, so she could be the next to succeed the throne.
There's an outrage that threatens to become a riot. Ga'ran orders her royal guard to subdue the gallery, but they don't move. It turns out, most of them know someone who has been falsely accused under the DC Act. This wasn't justice, but tyranny.
Rayfa is in tears after hearing what both her parents are responsible for. Not just all the innocent people, but even her own aunt, who she adored when she was younger. Although he breaks courtroom etiquette to do so, Nahyuta steps off the defendant's stand to comfort her.
"Your Benevolence, it's true that what we witnessed is evil. But you can be different. Step by step we can change things, together. ... Someone important taught me that. Look around. The people are looking to you now. They want to hear what you have to say."
Rayfa steels herself. She first looks to Apollo and Phoenix, then to Nahyuta, and then the gallery at large.
She begins by formally apologizing for everything her parents have done. That it was their duty as the royal family to uphold the peace granted to them by the Holy Mother, and in many ways, both her mother and father have failed. She promises to do better, to truly earn her name as Benevolent, and that it will start here with Gar'an and Inga serving their penance, and for amnesty to be granted to both the rebels and the guards to begin a path towards true peace.
She humbly asks for Nahyuta to guide her as her regent until she comes of age, and will be crowned as the next Queen of Khura'in. He is equally humbled, but accepts, in the name of The Holy Mother and his new liege.
Before anyone can depart, the judge declares a Not Guilty verdict for Nahyuta Sadhmadhi. There is confetti, cheers and much revelry. Nahyuta can still spot Phoenix and Apollo in the crowd, and smiles briefly at them, before accompanying Rayfa back to the palace.
In the days that followed, there were equal amounts shock at the former Queen's crimes, but hope for what the future will bring. Rayfa's first act is to repeal the DC Act, and with Nahyuta's help, begin reforming the legal system. The Defiant Dragons and the royal soldiers both laid down their arms, instead picking up the tools they'd need to build Khura'in a better future.
Phoenix goes to a phone booth. He gets in touch with Trucy, and tells her he'll be home soon.
On a quiet night, Apollo and Datz take turns visiting Dhurke's shrine, which is right next to the one for his late wife. They tell him how well the trial went, and how Nahyuta has a future now, and they wished he could see it. They leave white lilies, and discover that someone else has already been there to leave flowers before.
It's nearly time for Phoenix and Apollo to go back to their agency, each with a story to tell Trucy and Athena when they get back.
Nahyuta and Rayfa meet them at the airport. They say some brief goodbyes. Apollo promises he will return someday, when he becomes an even better lawyer working in the agency.
Nahyuta looks forward to that, even playfully teasing that they might just meet again in court.
Apollo would be ready and willing to face him when that day comes. And this time, it will not be their lives at stake. Instead they will work together to uncover the truth. In this way they carry on their father's legacy and start building one of their own.

A list/Analysis of how each Attorney/Prosecutor slams the desk: First what is a desk slam? A desk slam is not just a character hitting the desk, it's something done by a character to puncutate a point. Franziska von karma, for example has a sprite when she slams the desk, you see it at the end of turnabout bigtop, but it's not her desk slam, it's her breakdown sprite. Further more Apollo has one model where he slams his head into the bench, it makes the desk slam sound but it's his despair sprite. Furthermore you don't have to slam the desk itself, Klavier strikes the wall behind him. You also don't need to use your hand. Franziska uses her whip, Godot uses his coffee cup, Ga'ran uses a book Barok uses his L E G. In summations desk slam animations are short, single motions, that are repeatable, and involve hitting something, or so I thought, there is one character who doesn't hit anything, Manfred von Karma, doesn't hit anything, he snaps at you. So, what has been used to strike the desk?
Phoenix: Two open hands on the desk
Edgeworth: One open hand on the desk
Manfred von Karma: Snap
Fransizka von Karma: Whip
Godot: Single fist/Coffee cup on the desk
Mia: Two open hands on the desk
Apollo: Two fists on the desk
Klavier: One fist against the wall
Blackquil: One open hand slamming and the other hand gripping the desk
Barok: L E G
Also single fist
Athena: One open hand on desk and the other on hip. Also double hit!
Nahyuta: Closed fist holding prayer beads, one hand behind back
Ga'ran: Large book
Ryunosuke: Two open hands on desk, also a wimpy version
Kazuma: Karate chop
Susato: Two open hands on the desk
Interesting thing to note, while many characters have a single fist against the bench, they share it with another action, Godot with his coffee cup, Barok with his L E G, while Nahyuta is holding his beads!
While there are a lot of characters who have "Two open hands against the desk" they are all related to Phoenix in some way! Mia was his mentor, Ryunosuke was his ancestor, and Susato was pretending to be related to Ryunosuke!
#Posts I made when trying to figure out what types of desk slams have and haven't been used#Oh boy I should probably try and tag all of these people#Phoenix Wright#Miles Edgeworth#Manfred von Karma#franziska von karma#Godot#Deigo Armando#Mia Fey#Apollo Justice#Klavier Gavin#Simon Blackquill#barok van zieks#Athena Cykes#nahyuta sadhmadhi#ryunosuke naruhodo#Kazuma Asogi#Susato Mikotoba#I found the single fist animations all coming from characters who have another animation really interesting#I might make a follow up ost about the different types of finger points#Also shout out to Justine Cortney who swings her gavel#not really a desk slam but it kinda funtions as one#ace attorney#edited because I fucked up the formatting

Who Ace Attorney Characters Would Romance In BG3 (Warning: Spoilers for all acts.)
We're starting with Klav bc I thought of him first. Klav would not romance Astarion. He thinks Astarion is annoying bc he and Astarion have too much in common in an uncomfortable way and he does not want to examine those things about himself. Lae'zel would remind him of Apollo so do with that what you will. I think he'd def be a Shadowheart girlie, she's got his vibe and he can save her from herself. I think he would threesome with Halsin on a Shadowheart run, he is very attracted to Halsin, tell me I'm wrong. A calming chill guy who is hot and fucks nasty? Sign him up. I think he would like Wyll, he'd find Wyll refreshing as a genuinely nice guy who doesn't want anything from him and they are both romantics. He didn't even know Minthara or Mizora were romanceable/bangable bc he always plays good runs. Karlach. Yes. I think he has a 50/50 of trying for Gale bc I think Gale might remind him of his brother a bit, but if he misses any of those possible connections I think he would have fun with Gale.
As a side note for Apollo, he is constantly getting asked out by the ones he's not trying to romance or is accidentally starting something with someone he didn't mean to and is having a mess of a time. Karlach's immediate wanting to ride him line freaks him out, he never romances her. The 'we just met' option was put in the game specifically for Apollo Justice. Lae'zel's boldness also weirds him out but I think he would try it once before abandoning the run or reloading a save. He likes Shadowheart. He does a Shadowheart run. Astarion is not his type, he does get to the bottom of Astarion's character and appreciates him as a character, but he is not romancing him. He does try an evil run bc he gets fed up with helping everyone all the time and I think he would actually like Minthara. He doesn't go for Mizora when she asks, though. Halsin is a little too horny for him, I think. He likes Wyll, though. Wyll would be a fantastic option for him. I think Gale would annoy him.
Maya Fey, my beloved. Wyll is the only guy she'll do a romance with, but she would do a threesome with Halsin. She does one with each of the girlies including Minty. I think Karlach's story (minus the ending) would be her favorite, I think she might relate a little too much with Shart and Lae. She also does the scene with Mizora before reloading a save.
Look, do I think Miles Edgeworth is playing bg3? No. But if he did... He is so into Halsin. He does the bear sex scene. He is blushing the whole time but he's so into it. He tries Wyll bc what's on the label sounds fantastic, but he finds that romancing Wyll just doesn't excite him in the necessary ways. He doesn't try anyone else.
Franziska is pretending she video games are beneath her but she wants to know what everyone is talking about even if she refuses to engage and so she plays in secret, usually in the middle of the night and she does a Shadowheart run bc Shadowheart propositioned her first and as she goes through her story she is just constantly bawling her eyes out, vowing to save and protect Shadowheart. She thinks Astarion is a bitch, Gale is annoying, Wyll is boring, and Halsin is too horny. She might also just be denying the fact that she's not attracted to men. I don't think she does a Karlach run, but she does go through Karlach's story every time so that Karlach can get her heart fixed. She likes that Lae'zel knows what she wants and goes for it, but I'm not sure if she would do a dedicated run. If she does, she also starts bawling her eyes out as she goes through the story. I also think she only ever has the girls in her party until she hits a lock she can't get open. She's playing a paladin btw.
Phoenix Wright. Finally someone who is down for Gale. Tbh his savior complex makes him do a run with each of the main six. I think Shadowheart and Astarion hit him the hardest, but Karlach's endings make him quit the game for a while. He also does Halsin threesome.
Ema is 100% down for Karlach. She likes the other characters (mostly), but she is a Karlach girlie through and through. I think she reclasses Karlach to rogue, though, so she doesn't have to have Astarion in the party. She has Lae'zel there to be the big hitter and I think Wyll would be in her party as well. I think she would be a Lae'zel over Shadowheart kind of person. She is SUPER into the evil run, though and it hurts so bad that she can't have Karlach in her party. On her evil run she takes Lae'zel, Shadowheart, and Astarion until she can pick up Minthara and reclass her to rogue. She doesn't absolutely despise Astarion, hater recognizes hater, but he reminds her of the fop, which is a bonus bc when she tells Klav this he gets huffy about it. On her evil run she does romance Minty.
Kristoph Gavin cannot play bg3 bc he's on death row, everyone point and laugh.
Simon is also a Shadowheart girlie. She's mean and goth when you meet her and stays that way even as she becomes a better person. He's into that. He does not romance Astarion, but he always makes sure to absolutely annihilate Cazador. As a side not he also always does the House of Hope. He likes Wyll, he likes how uncomplicated everything is (compared to the other main 5), he would do a Wyll run, but he would still let Duke Ravenguard get blown up. Athena is side eyeing him for that one. He also does not romance Gale, but he doesn't let Gale blow up, either. I don't think he romances Lae'zel or Karlach, but he does see their stories through to completion. He lets Karlach turn into a mind flayer when she offers. He says he's doing an evil run to seem edgy but then Apollo starts talking to him about things that only happen in an evil run and he starts sweating bc he actually did not do that. So he just says actually he's doing a solo run and he's killed everyone possible and Apollo doesn't believe him and forms wild incorrect theories.
Athena is super into Karlach. She basically only does Karlach runs. She thinks Astarion is funny so she always has him in the party (plus locks). Her last party spot is up for grabs depending on what she's doing. She actually brings each of them out to their story locations instead of doing stuff and telling them after.
Am I suggesting that Maya channeling Mia so she could play a video game makes any sort of sense? No. But assuming she did, Mia does a run romancing each of them. She is super into the poly relationships and threesomes bc I hc her as polyamorous and this is my post. I think she would start an evil run just to see and then be so shocked by what Minthara's character is like (in a good way) that she decides to transition into a good playthrough so Minty can see what it's like to be good. She also does the Mizora scene before reloading a save.
Ok, in the same year Athena is playing bc they are the same age, Pearl decides to try it. She goes for Wyll first bc he's a romantic and is everything she thinks she wants. This is when she realizes she's into women. Shadowheart is the female companion you actually get to be romantic with from the start (Pearl is still a romantic), so she tries that and wow. Yuri.
They do not have bg3 in Khura'in, but they do have planes, so when Nahyuta is in the states they play. They are into Lae'zel and Shadowheart equally, actually, and romancing them is very therapeutic. He tries Wyll for the heck of it, but he's too nice, Astarion is too much of a project, and Gale is... Well Gale is really fun to make fun of, so even though they do a Gale run, they're making fun of him the whole time. They are besties with Karlach. They like Halsin's character but are not interested, and they can't bring themselves to attack the druid's grove and the tieflings so no Minty.
This is not an exhaustive list! lmk if there are other characters you'd like my opinions on! I love having opinions!

Dear Alexei2406,
I will be sure to have my men look out for any possible assassination attempts. I have read of the man.
Regardless, I do feel for the poor sap that wasted that much money for my head.

I have even more thoughts about Nahyuta Sahdmadhi to add to what I've already posted about him.
Was he/is he being blackmailed into his role as Last Rites Prosecutor? Because that would explain why his world travels don't change his views. Maybe he wants to practice law differently, but he can't for some reason.
Maybe he's keeping a secret to protect someone, like Blackquill in Dual Destinies, or he's repressing memories and feelings to protect himself like Edgeworth in the first Ace Attorney... 🤔
(And going a bit meta here, you can always count on two things in Ace Attorney: murder and blackmail, they are everywhere in this series!)
Also in hindsight, maybe it's for the best that Nahyuta didn't follow Apollo to Japanifornia. If he did, there's a real chance he would've met Kristoph Gavin and that couldn't have ended well.
#Lynn speaks#Nahyuta Sadhmadhi#Lynn ponders about game characters#don't get me wrong I'm still very salty about him#and the way he acts most of the game#but he intrigues me now#I want to study him under a microscope#I (probably) can't fix him#hopefully he fixes himself

Athena Cykes: Sidelined Attorney ~ Essay
(Major Spoilers for Ace Attorney 5: Dual Destinies, and Ace Attorney 6: Spirit of Justice. Minor Spoilers for Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney)
I wanted to write an essay-type thing about Athena constantly getting the short end of the stick, so...here it is :3
Athena is one of the main characters of Ace Attorney, but she sure doesn’t feel like it.
Ace Attorney is a video game series where you play as one of many lawyers, fighting crime and earning guilty verdicts in an era of legal corruption. One of the newest playable main characters introduced was one Miss Athena Cykes, part of the game Dual Destinies, the fifth and second-to-last game in the series. And boy, is she...in the game. She certainly...is a character. She definitely...has a career in law. She is indeed a defense attorney. What I’m trying to say is, she’s underutilized. Heavily. Despite being a main character, one of three in the games she’s from.
Athena works for the Wright Anything Agency, learning from her boss, Phoenix Wright, and her older co-worker, Apollo Justice, who is also fairly new. When Apollo was introduced, he got an entirely new game dedicated to him; Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney. There, he takes on four cases with the help of Phoenix and Trucy Wright as his co-counsel. During his game, he’s the only attorney, -outside of one flashback case where you play as Phoenix- and though he is sidelined a bit, all of the cases in his game are his own. He’s the attorney for all of them...The same can’t be said for Athena and her game.
It isn’t fair to count Apollo Justice’s cases before Dual Destinies, though, since Athena hadn’t joined the agency yet. So, we’ll look at Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice instead. In Dual Destinies, Athena heads two cases out of six. Barely. And I say ‘barely’, because in the very beginning of her introductory case, Athena has a mental breakdown, flashing back to a traumatic case from years ago. She’s unable to speak, and just when a verdict is about to be handed down prematurely, Phoenix Wright bursts through the door and takes the case from her. So, really, Athena heads two cases.
At the end of Dual Destinies, though, Athena finds out the truth about her past, giving her closure on her trauma and letting her have the ability to finally move on and heal. So, you’d think that, by Spirit of Justice, she’d be able to take on her own cases, right? Wrong. Out of the seven cases in the game, Athena heads one. One singular case. And just like all the other times, she can’t go through it alone.
In Turnabout Storyteller, she has yet another breakdown, but this time it’s brought on by foul play. The prosecutor for the case, -Nahyuta Sadhmadhi- after insulting and making fun of her, rallies the gallery to call Athena’s ability and skill into question, making her doubt if she’s ready to take a case on her own. At this point, Simon jumps in and acts as Athena’s co-counsel, and she’s able to continue the trial with his help. Yet again, Athena is being saved by someone else.
In every case Athena is in, she has a breakdown. Does this mean Athena shouldn’t ever have had a single breakdown? Not at all; her breakdown in Turnabout Academy was necessary, as it allowed her to deal with and take a step towards overcoming her trauma. She came out of it stronger, and managed to complete her trial without anyone else taking over for her, save for Apollo helping out as her co-counsel. The issue is that this happens in every case she takes up, making her seem incapable of doing her job.
Out of the thirteen cases in both games, Athena heads...two cases. One in the game that’s literally titled Dual Destinies, a game meant to be about her relationship with Simon Blackquill, despite Simon himself prosecuting four cases. But, hold on. Maybe this isn’t really an issue with Athena being sidelined; maybe it’s just Phoenix, -the head lawyer and main character of the first three games- taking all of the cases for himself. After all, he did steal the beginning case from Athena. Maybe Apollo is done wrong in these games, too.
Unfortunately, that isn’t the case; If we combine the cases from both games, we get this; Phoenix Wright has six cases, Athena has two, and Apollo has five. There’s clearly something off here. And that’s not even counting Apollo’s four cases from his game (which, might I remind you, is named after him?). On top of this, Apollo gets more character development in Spirit of Justice; we learn about his real father, adopted father, adopted brother, and, by extension, their family. What do we learn about Athena? Nothing. The closest thing we get to more Athena lore is that Simon, her found-family brother, has a friend who works at a soba shop. How nice.
And Athena’s mistreatment doesn’t stop there; it extends into the fanbase as well. On March 1st, 2024, Capcom held a poll to decide who were the best characters in the Ace Attorney: Apollo Justice Trilogy. According to that poll, from first to last, here are the top ten characters in Japan; Miles Edgeworth, Simon Blackquill, Apollo Justice, Phoenix Wright (DD-SoJ), Klavier Gavin, Phoenix (AJ), Bobby Fulbright, Trucy Wright, Maya Fey, Ema Skye.
Now, I’m sure you and I both noticed something very important, which is the fact that Athena is nowhere on this list at all. And she didn’t fare much better in the international poll either, only getting 9th place, despite being one of three main characters. For crying out loud, Phoenix and his two slightly different personalities are on the list twice!
In conclusion, Athena deserves better. She’s a bright, talented, fiery young woman whose upbeat and positive personality brings a fresh change of pace in comparison to Phoenix and Apollo’s snarky and downright pessimistic natures, respectively. With her mood matrix and the ability to hear the voice of people’s souls, she could completely change the game - If Capcom would only let her. (this was very fun, i think i shall do it again soon, maybe next ill do a mediocre character analysis on someone)

i play brown noise on my laptop at night bc i am the lightest sleeper known to man and a quiet conversation outside my door Will wake me up. however, the file is only 4 hours long, and because the mac music app sucks ass, the only way to disable autoplay is to manually clear the queue.
3 times now i have forgotten to clear the queue, resulting in me waking up at ~4 am to nahyuta sadhmadhi's theme

🔥 ace attoutney :)
You're sick you know. You don't even understand any of this so you're doing it just to set me off.
Anyway
SPOILERS INCOMING
- sholmes is so overrated, he's honestly just okay. He's just a theater kid and i don't care that much about him. Homumiko is not an interesting ship.
- van zieks is good as a shitty character. I don't think him having a redemption arc fits. "Sorry i was racist towards you, it's cause i have trauma but i think you're cool now" still a racist. Just let him be a racist and move on from him. He's not even hot.
- spirit of justice is kind of a colonialism sim but turnabout storyteller is the best filler case of all time and has one of the most respectful portrayals of DID in any media ever
- third case syndrome isn't real because recipe for turnabout is really good its like a fever dream
- overdesigned characters are good actually. Athena lived in a space station and thought she killed her own mother let her have 30 accessories
- nahyuta sadhmadhi is not compelling as a character (not a hot take) but for fuckability and nonbinary swag alone he is pulled out of the bottom.
- i don't care if we never get gavin brothers backstory because everything i make up in my head could possibly be true then. I play with them like dolls.
- godot is a misogynist but so is edgeworth sorry. I get it i love an autism coded gay man as much as the next guy but nobody wants to remember the time he said "lol kys" to a grieving woman. Well i remember and i like him anyway, so you all can enjoy godot too.
- clay terran is better dead it's so funny that they not only killed him offscreen but also that he doesn't even exist in the game. You never meet this man and then he dies. Iconic. Best writing decision ever.
- i don't think apollo justice can cook stop writing fics where he woos klavier with his fine cuisine they are useless himbos and they order takeout multiple times a week and 1 hello fresh just to feel something. Tell me when apollo would have had time to learn to cook. When his terrorist dad was running with him from the feds? When he was taking an extra heavy courseload so he could get through law school as fast as possible? Fuck off.
- on that note apollo can have as many backstories as he wants because i love him and he deserves it. Give him 30 more games.
OKAY I'M STOPPING NOW BEFORE I WRITE ANOTHER 10,000 WORD ESSAY

I got to play more of Ace Attorney 6-5 last night and I had so many thoughts this morning.
Solely based on what I know without spoilers:
Phoenix is feeling every way like a final boss here for Apollo and Athena. I never thought he would be the opposing counsel in a finale case (even if this is just the first day of trial.)
I knew that Archie Buff's death was murder, not an accident. But am I really supposed to believe Datz Are'abal did it? This silly little escape artist?? (who'd probably be a great stage magician if he didn't have to start a revolution.) I'm not buying it and I can't believe Phoenix does!
Now we have Doctor Buff's kid testifying by drone. This is the third "testimony by machine" I've seen. (There's the radio in JfA and a robot in DD)
Since there's so much discord in Buff Jr's voice, he's definitely hiding something about his father's murder.
I have a feeling that the Khurai'nese government has a hand in the case. They want to make sure that Dhurke doesn't get his hands on the Founder's Orb by any means necessary. So they have Atishon stake a claim on it as the Crystal of Ami Fey and on top of that, accuse Dhurke of stealing it so he'll have to get sent back to his home country to face a death sentence. Two birds, one stone.
And of course there's the most burning question (that I don't even know with what mild spoilers I got): Where on Earth is Maya? She was just with Phoenix after the Lady Kee'ra case and now he's in a civil case and she's nowhere to be found.
One of my theories was confirmed though. When I found out that Dhurke and Apollo had a Past, I speculated that Dhurke sent little Apollo to Japanifornia when things got bad in Khura'in. But it begs the question: Why didn't Dhurke send Nahyuta away too? Considering how Nahyuta turned out (about as ruthless of a prosecutor as many other Ace Attorney rivals, believing that's his religious duty) - would he have been better in Japanifornia? Dhurke says he wants to save him, but is that even possible right now?
After all, Nahyuta appears to be a willing follower of the "fire and brimstone" style of his religion. Is that just a front he's putting up? Did Queen Ga'ran influence him? Or was he abducted and brainwashed into his beliefs, just to hit Dhurke where it hurts the most?
And then there's the matter of "How is Dhurke's revolution even going to look like when it gets started?" I want to trust him because of how he interacts with Apollo, but Kristoph Gavin seemed to be decent until he definitely wasn't.
I'll be looking back at this post to see if my questions are answered, and what theories were confirmed. Spirit of Justice has got me thinking for sure, and that means the writing isn't nearly as terrible as I've been hearing. It has its ups and downs, but doesn't every story-driven game?
I'm going to see it through to the end. I have to know all about the Khura'in royal family and Sahdmadhi family drama. 🍵
