THAT’S A LIE!! he is actually magicless and the fish is Just A Fish. as mr robin has said time and time again fish cannot be familiars. faulkner has a blue contact lens over his brown eye to match the fish, but the coloration isn’t the same if you look close enough. this is my au i’m keeping my design headcanons for these guys

some fucking how he has managed to flail himself upward into his current position and is put in the care of the far more competent carpenter, at which point he instantly starts trying to scheme

the mission theyre on is trying to find a particularly powerful husk for Their Purposes. however eventually they come to the discovery that what they’re seeking is actually a way to make husks and not a husk itself. neither of them like this and it runs close to tsv canon in this regard.

honestly this is pretty close to canon tsv except:

color coded magic system. and i love magic systems

faulkner trying Really Hard not to husk out (in ns canon non-magicians turn into husks if they become extremely emotionally unstable in a time of high stress so most of season 3 would be him trying not to turn into a beastie)

familiar stuff. yeah your sister says she hates you but also the dog that’s part of her soul has come over to you and put its head in your lap. you hold it close and her posture relaxes across the room. you don’t need to say anything. you both know.

(for context, if faulkner did get his magic in, his familiar would be a ginger domestic shorthair cat, and therefore him husked out would have him as a catboy. a traumatized, murderous catboy)

most saints would be husks in this.

paige: dove familiar named olive. magic color’s either a nice light blue or green. her whole prophet thing could mean she husks out in this au and just chills at tier one because she has the money to afford the gems to stabilize while other people who go husk (cough faulkner cough) are not financially stable enough to. i’m going with that. i’m not joking when i say i’m doing most of this off the cuff lol

hayward: basset hound familiar named columbo. magic color is a deep brown. one of the less respected guard members who does his best. once corruption is revealed in the heart of the administration, he is grabbed by a dove husk (paige) he is sent to kill and runs close to canon that way

shrue: shrew familiar named cashew. cmon. magic color is an uneasy orange. an overworked member of the administration who rose the ranks with the intention of undoing harm, but is instead walked over and talked over and makes very little change

gage & mercer: it’s canon that twins will have the same kind of familiar, so they both have deer - but only one has antlers. they never make it clear which familiar belongs to who. i have no clue what their magic color would be but theyd be slightly different hues off each other. they hunt husks, but they seem to like it a little too much, and they like to wear the remains of their hunts.

And finally!

For some clarity: this is an AU I discussed with Peri and a buncha other friendly people a while ago based on adapting the paladins to the ‘verse of the webcomic Never Satisfied. (disclaimer AU may be imperfect since at this point we don’t know how everything… works, per se, in Never Satisfied verse)

Honerva is the Magister, with Zarkon as the previous Representative who got messed up pretty badly so he needs to retire. They’re also up to. not good things. (Honerva is doing research into husks. Considerably less altruistically, or helpfully, than Isra is in canon)

Zarkon’s magic color is dark purple, Honerva’s is red, he has a saltwater crocodile familiar named Night. Funnily enough people don’t see Honerva’s familiar very often but he’s Kova. They don’t get along like they used to but he shows up dutifully for formal events. 

Shiro was Zarkon’s apprentice but got the hell out of dodge around the time he started to realize what sort of things they were up to so now he’s. in hiding. He has an osprey familiar named Quiet, she worries about him a lot but they don’t talk as much as they probably should. Shiro has purple magic. He used to be in the competition before he realized Honerva and Zarkon were trying to set him up as a puppet.

The paladins meet through the competition.

Keith and Allura study together under Alfor and there’s some fairly major bad blood between Alfor’s family and Zarkon’s. Public events are real awkward.

Allura has pink magic, Keith’s is red, Alfor’s is also red. Since Keith is an orphan he technically stays in the Altea household.

Coran has orange magic, a large snake familiar named Wilson. Alfor’s familiar is a lion named Sunny because of course it is.

Keith’s familiar is a black-footed cat named Cinder, they’re kind of anxious and don’t like most people. Allura’s familiar is a bleeding heart dove named Prudence, she is sweet and soft-spoken and very “a lady doesn’t start fights but she can finish them.”

Lance studies under Blaytz, has blue magic and an otter familiar named Lana who’s probably the most social of the familiars, definitely flat-out wingmans for Lance when he’s flirting, she thinks the whole rivalry with Keith is a little funny (and is a little more aware that despite being taken in by an aristocratic family it’s all too clear until very recently Keith was probably living on the streets- while Lance feels more like Keith’s an ~aristocrat~ and is frustrated partially over that)

Hunk totally comes from a guard family, has yellow magic and a tortoise familiar named Herschel. Herschel is a chill guy who tends to act as a sounding board for Hunk’s anxieties and help him keep things in perspective. He’s also more adventurous than Hunk, but also a bit of a worrywart over others.

Pidge is basically tetsu has green magic and a tree frog familiar named Speckle. Speckle is sort of an inverse of Herschel in that they tend to voice a lot of the worries that Pidge doesn’t always let herself address until they blow up on her, but ultimately in a fairly constructive manner. She also refuses to admit she is Even Slightly out of her depth with the competition and most of the other competitors being older than her.

Lotor has refined avoiding his parents to an art form and pulls a Seiji hides his eyes and his magpie familiar, Luna to sneak around as a non-magician. He’s made a couple of friends that he’s helping out under the table. His magic color is dark blue.

Luna is a gossip and loves to eavesdrop and spy on people and then flit back to Lotor to tell him everything she’s seen, but she’s quite timid around others and almost never shows herself if he isn’t alone. She’s much more subdued if Lotor’s around his parents and she thus has to be in the open.

Ezor and Zethrid are non-magicians, Ezor keeps a chameleon named Tango that she fools people into thinking is a familiar while Zethrid keeps a big old st. bernard named Killer who’s too big to fool anyone but he’s still her best friend. Both of them are pretty good fighters, though, and people who underestimate them for their lack of magic are in for trouble.

Acxa has cyan magic and a black-footed cat familiar. She doesn’t have a teacher but Lotor tries to sneak her things he learns from Honerva. Acxa’s familiar is named Flame and they’re kind of testy and headstrong.

Narti appears to be a magician accompanied by a cat familiar. She stays bundled up, avoids people a lot, and her eyes are always wrapped with bandages. The familiar’s not hers, though- it’s actually Kova in disguise. Narti is a husk. Lotor was able to discreetly get her some emeralds to help stabilize her and between that and covering her eyes she mostly passes as a normal human.

(Covering her eyes isn’t too much of a loss for her since she was already blind)

Kova had increasing misgivings the more Honerva went… in the direction she did, and at this point there’s not much besides a sense of duty keeping him with her, while his connection with Narti is much more that he wants to be able to help her as much as he can. He’s sort of, in a way, the sense of restraint and compassion Honerva’s… let go of at this point.

It´s getting hard to track this thing, so here´s the compilation. This AU was born from conversations with @haro-whumps​​ and a few anons about Angels that are treated as trophies by their Gods and the one who refuses to be only that and a demon who isn´t that evil.

An old thing

The story follows Roahn, an slave that came to her new owner´s house inside a box. She then begins to tighten her relationship with the other house´s slave: Shy. A tall young man who has been sold a few times over. When their Masters plan for them begin to move into action, they have to be quick witted to let their kids and them escape a life of brutality.

I´m aware it´s incredibly fucked up and it´s not for everyone. If you´re sensitive to any of the next triggers, go with caution.

Every bit of you

So uh... this is a self-indulgent au with one of my fave ships that has basically zero attention- Ryou/Atem. (I like Ryou/Yugi/Atem too.) Basically, Ryou is a palace magician who was found because of his odd skin color and hair, (I’m tossing around the idea that he’s related to Kisara somehow) but was quickly discovered to be good with magic, especially dark magic. He’s raised to be Atem’s sort of ‘magical protector’- that is, he deflects any curses thrown his way. They grow up together and are close and start dating. It’s cute. 

It also has soft Ryou because I SAY SO, THAT’S WHY.

Ryou flicked his door shut with his staff, using his other hand to ruffle through his hair. He could feel the flush of exertion on his cheeks.

“Ugh, I swear he’s always harder on us whenever there’s so much of a hint of trouble outside the palace...” It took him a moment to notice someone was settled on his bed, but a smile spread across his face. He gave a little bow. “My king.”

“You don’t need to be formal in here.” Atem swung his legs over the side of the bed, holding up a basket. “I saw you were training hard, so I brought you a treat.”

“You’re the best, I feel half-starved after today.” Ryou plopped down on the bed, slumping down on his back, and Atem took his staff and set it on the side table before tugging at his robe. “I warn you, I’m sort of sweaty.”

“I’ll live.” Atem said, untying the rope around Ryou’s waist and setting it aside as well. Ryou sat up so Atem could more easily remove his robe, leaving him in a simple blue shenti, his bracelets, and a few simple and loose gold chains around his neck that he wore to more easily conduct magic. Atem took surprising care in folding the robes and setting them next to Ryou’s staff, before grabbing the basket again. “Move so your head is against the wall.”

Ryou obeyed, shifting position until he was sitting up against the wall. Atem settled himself comfortably on Ryou’s lap, then held up a dough ball drizzled in honey and sprinkled with cinnamon.

“Open wide.” Ryou opened his mouth, and Atem popped it on Ryou’s tongue. Ryou hummed when he began to chew, and Atem smiled when he swallowed.

“Good?”

Ryou nodded. “Very good. Did someone just make these?”

“They’re barely an hour old, I tried to plan it for when you were finished with practice.”

Ryou kissed him with honey-sweet lips. “If you treat the whole kingdom the way you treat me, Egypt will prosper.”

“Right now, my focus is you.” Atem said, brushing a few flakes of cinnamon off of Ryou’s lips as he fed him another.

Ryou happily held his mouth open as soon as he swallowed each time. He loved the feeling of Atem’s warm fingers in and around his mouth, and he loved the sweetness of the dough.

About halfway through the basket, Atem scooted back, giving himself room to slide his sticky fingers down Ryou’s torso.

“You’re going to make a mess of me.”

“Nothing we can’t clean later.” Atem waved it off, pressing his fingers down on the pale flesh. He traced circles around with one hand, and Ryou closed his eyes, enjoying the sensation.

They popped back open when he felt something very different press to his stomach, and saw Atem bent down, pressing kisses wherever his fingers had left bits of honey.

Ryou’s cheeks flushed like poppies, seeing Atem- still in his headpiece, with his cape fanned around him like he’d captured a portion of the Nile over his shoulders- kissing up his belly.

That intensified tenfold when he slid down further, beginning to kiss on Ryou’s upper legs, and Ryou shuddered.

“Atem…”

“You shouldn’t hide such a beautiful body.” Atem murmured into his thighs. “It’s so soft, and every little mark is like the stroke of an artist.”

“I think Mahad would complain if I showed up to training with only a shenti.” Ryou said, laughing as Atem blew a playful raspberry on the sensitive skin inside of his thigh. The pharaoh’s hand settled on Ryou’s stomach again, and the way his rings rolled as his hand slid across the skin made Ryou shiver in delight.

“I could make him allow it.” Atem’s eyes glittered. They both knew Atem wouldn’t make his old friend uncomfortable, but the idea of having such power over the god on earth that he’d change the way things worked just for him was incredible.

Atem grabbed another sweet ball from the basket and resumed feeding, but this time, he used his free hand to squeeze at Ryou’s belly and chest, murmuring words of praise at every bite the magician took.

“You’re a blessing to the palace, and I thank the gods you were found and sent to me.” Atem said, kissing a bit of cinnamon off of Ryou’s hot cheek. 

Ryou grabbed the front of Atem’s cape and pulled him into a proper kiss, setting his own hand on top of the one cupping around his belly button.

When he pulled away for air, Ryou panted for a moment before grinning. “I’ll do anything I can do for my pharaoh, since he takes such good care of me.” He picked up the last bit of dough in the basket and pressed it to Atem’s lips instead, pleased to see him let it melt on his tongue before swallowing. He sealed the promise with another kiss and pulled Atem down on top of him, reaching up to unclasp his cape and then his headpiece. “Will you stay with me tonight?”

“As if I would say no.”

some never satisfied au varian! not pictured are his gloves, which are short and have wraps underneath them, because i Didn’t Want To Draw Hands, and the fact that his Vest fans out behind him a bit (it’s actually not really a vest it’s like a Very Fancy Apron, it ties at the neck then swoops down)

anyways! he’s a magician who got his magic in at 15 and until that point dedicated his life to learning Alchemy. his gem is chrysocolla chalcedony or gem silica, which is located in that lil part of his goggles. he’s 16 now and is working on creating a new element that can manufacture gemstones at a much lower cost so that ppl don’t have to save up for half their lives to get focus stones like rubies and sapphires and emeralds. he’s also, secretly, studying husks. his mother became a husk when he was younger and he hates it when ppl say that they’re evil or monstrous

his familiar is Ruddiger of course, lil raccoon bby who’s a bit of a brat and a bit conniving but loves his boy very much and always does what’s right by him, even if doesn’t seem like it 

his father has a citrine focus stone and his familiar is an ox named amber

his mother was the same color as him and her familiar was an english longhorn bull named Zhanny 

he’s also aristocratic, due to being 4th (technically 3rd since eugene doesn’t want the title) in line for the throne 

but he was raised as a farm boy away from All That Mess

Douxie’s ns au is so easy

Indigo magician with gems on his bracelet and kitty familiar Archie. Wanted to try for city rep SOOOO badly but his tutor Merlin forbid him from doing so, saying he would never make it and besides, he had a destiny higher up in the magistration than being a silly old Representative, making him feel ridiculous for even wanting the position in the first place

ns au varian won his competition when he was 14 and is currently 17, finishing up his training to become fully suited for the role

he’s a blue magician idk what his gemstone would be, i was thinking like a blue-ish moonstone but that wouldn’t be his Exact color BUT x2 i was also thinking that could be like...a thing; ppl think it’s odd or weird or maybe judge him or something cus he can still use it but an aquamarine or a stone of the like would be better and if sb asked him about it he’d just be like “well I Like Moonstone More so no”

bc he’s just Like That, he’s practical and logical in a lot of ways but there are some things that he just lets his emotions take over for and He Wants A Blue Moonstone and since it’s just a bit off his color he can still use it 

it’s also, lookin more into it, a display of his pride and confidence in his skills. gems greatly help magicians but they can still do some things without them, like with the crystal shooter things. he’s just confident enough in his own abilities and skills both magic an otherwise that he knows he’ll be fine even if his gem is a lil off color from what he Should Use; it makes him happy, he likes moonstone, and he believes he’ll be fine with it

anyways isaac is a maroon magician with a red spinel gem and his familiar is a spider monkey named doctor robot. he’s not great at magic and doesn’t practice it because he’s been constantly told throughout his life that he’s just not good at anything and even though he’d be great if he tried, he’s just been beaten down to the point where he doesn’t want to anymore
