There is one more image from Volume 2 but I don't know if I can post it here on my tumblr. The image is surprisingly, a depiction of the Man's Fantasy scene from the game. Despite the title of this novel, it contains a scene that wasn't in the anime but from the game. And this depiction of that peeping tom event is honestly a little more nsfw than the ingame CG. Still, I have to upload this image online for archive purposes so I will post an imgur link to it. View with caution.

If I had a nickel for every time there was a classical noval(that was also later adapted into a musical) that had a pathetically in love man doing something pretty stupid because of his love for the leading lady and eventually he's reluctantly dragged into the sewers by the old man with the morals, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.

I think my favorite thing about Marci Novalli (Heartstrikers) is her recurring pattern of,

Meet new supernatural or otherwise legendary figure.

Freak out about them (positive or negative).

Realize that this person is kind of a dick, OR just remember her own dignity in general.

Firmly remind herself that she is a human mage, aka one of the most badass motherfuckers it’s possible to be, and she has a right to both respect and magical knowledge (mad science-coded).

Internalize Step 4 so hard that she loses all sense of self-preservation around this invariably dangerous supernatural or otherwise legendary figure.

"Hello! I have an in-house enchantment delivery for a Miss..." He looks to Dez, then back down to the written note tied to the handle. "... Night? Would you happen to be her?" --

Dez had never done anything like this before in her life.. but she figured trying something new like this couldn't hurt. When she saw the basket she knew immediately it was the delivery she ordered.. and she gave a nod of her head. "Y-Yes.. That's me.. I ah.. Dez Night. Pleased to meet you." She gave a shy smile and her fingers anxiously fiddled with her dress as she looked at him once more. "Would you like to come in?" She really wasn't sure what she was doing at all but.. just like with most things with life, she'd figure it out. [ @lachrymosestorm ]

Dez Night. Yes, that was exactly who'd placed the order. She came off as meek and fidgety... The kind of person that would be preyed upon by malevolent spirits and people alike. No wonder she'd asked for the charms-- even if they didn't work to their fullest extent, they would at least be able to provide a few month's worth of good dreams.

"Likewise!" He gives her a reassuring nod and a slight bow, another small smile. To business then. "I'm Vesper. Thank you for having me."

As they step into her home, he takes a look around, curious about her interior decorating. "Do you believe in superstitions?" Ah, wait, that might have come off strange. "What I mean is... have you done something like this before, Miss Dez?"

I really wish the first Heartstrikers book had Marci and Julian as full co-protagonists with equal POV like the rest of them. For one thing, Marci is a great & compelling character and she deserves equal page time, and imo the dynamic is better when they’re on meta equal footing. But also because I’d fucking kill to see the Twilight-esque fantasy romance she’s living, while Julius undergoes what’s more of a family drama. She found THE hottest man she’d ever seen at a bar and business-propositioned him, comes to learn that and only is he tall with ink-black hair and eyes so green they almost glow, but he’s also incredibly kind, bears a mysterious curse, has incredible magical potential which he doesn’t want to talk about, can single-handedly take out 3 goons in hand-to-hand combat without breaking a sweat, is weirdly intense about having no debts between them, has a potentially infinite number of weird, vaguely threatening siblings…
