Unknown's regard towards the MC

Unknown/Ray/Saeran is interesting in regards to how he feels about and he treats as well as his intentions towards the MC of Mystic Messenger. He's the antagonist, and a creepy one at that, but he's also a "bad but sad boy." I can't help help but dissect how he's written as the antagonist of a visual novel/otome game. Just as a note, this is a long one.

Let's start from the beginning and work our way through.

Our first possible interaction with him: the prologue bad end. You refuse to co-operate and lie saying their is no way to enter the apartment (As players you might have just been trying to escape the obvious sketchy situation, but there is a reason the rest of the cast wants to protect her, it's because she's so innocent.) If you back out at just the right moment, he laughs at your joke but then warns you if it went on longer he would have snapped. Of course if you don't, he reveals he can see you're lying, which blows his cover as to the fact he's been watching you. Why did Unknown choose you for plan? Who knows? He just needed some random innocent person, which would push V to hold a party and cause enough confusion to hack in. Was he specifically aiming for a girl? Maybe, seeing as most of the group is made of dudes, Rika was the same gender, probably a good replacement as coordinator. Anyways, he probably doesn't think much of you. Once you fail, he just opts to find someone else. He would get rid of you, except for the fact that you're cute. This shows he at least finds you attractive. He decides he'll let you live as his assistant, something he wants ever since he heard his brother had one. If you wish to leave, he'll tell you he can't allow that because you know about him, he can't let you be a loose cannon. If you do agree to go with him, he's ecstatic, thinking you're like him. He promises to treat you well and be very nice to you. It's still a bad ending because you don't have a choice but to go with him. Also the ending didn't mention this, but if you're going to Magenta you're going to be drugged!

So he finds you attractive enough that he wishes to keep you, and hopes you'll be just like him...Mr. Trauma-boy Crazy-pants. I get the sense from this he's lonely and wants a companion who will see his side of things.

Throughout the game, he tends to go after you first out of everybody. The exceptions here are the bad endings for Regular route and Deep Route where he goes after Yoosung after he loses touch with reality (He's easy prey), or he captures V when thinks he's spying around.

The message he leaves you after you're dropped off is: "Don't worry, things will be really fun from now on. I'll come and get you soon."

You've already helped him commence his plans, so you seem to be a useful ally/tool. You also innocently decided to help a complete stranger, which makes you more cute. He seems more attached to you, but not completely, as I'll explain further down.

In the first bad relationship endings for the regular routes, he doesn't display much in the terms of attraction. In Jaehee's he just says he's going to take everyone early because she's not doing anything, and in Zen's he decides to get someone else to do her role while she's taken to Magenta to be re-educated ("You'll learn that we're the only ones who love you.") To early to decide anything. She's attractive sure, and nice, but she's a slacker. What she needs is a good fine-tuning.

Things don't pick up until Yoosung's second bad ending. Instead of forgiving V and understanding him, we are suspicious of V, and drive a further wedge between him and Yoosung. So much so, Yoosung wants to run away with us, more specifically leave the group. Unknown can't have that, that party needs to be held, we certainly can't leave. So he tricks us into thinking we were right and V can't be trusted, and he's just an innocent guy wrapped up in the turmoil. He offers Yoosung something he can't refuse, information on Rika, to get us into his car. That's when we start to feel suspicion and he knocks out Yoosung to make him his hostage and talk to us alone. He tells us he's only unconscious and he's his precious hostage. Hostage for who? Hostage for us, that's who. I assume he was in the front seat or else how could he knock him out. So Yoosung is unconscious in the front seat and we're unable to get him out of there. If we were to try anything, well he's right next to the guy. So Unknown takes off his mask to talk to us, probably feeling more personable. He tells us it was fun pretending to be scared, but not as fun as pretending to be the student...queuing us in that he was the guy who led us to the apartment. He's almost nostalgic as he remembers how we did everything he said then, but now we've gone and ruined his plan. He reassures us that it's okay, all he has do is re-educate us, and we can even decide how we start. He'll turn us into a proper assistant yet. At the ending he throws what Yoosung and we have been saying before this ending, 'how about we just leave out the traitors and be together," of course, with him saying it it implies he's just going to steal us from Yoosung after re-educating us. After all, he did see us first, and we've been helping him up until recently, all we need is some fixing and we'll be perfect.

Yes, in that bad ending it seems he likes us. However, around the end of the route things take a drastic turn. In Yoosung's route, Seven had discovered the IP address of the hacker's hideout, and was heading out to shut down their operations. Everything is burning down around him, all thanks to his brother. His final act of revenge is to make Luciel realize his sins and then have them all burn together. He's also going to have you burn too, for the heck of it; earlier in the route he had you trapped in your room...for seemingly no reason but to cause chaos (He didn't even come to get you before it was fixed), so why wouldn't he put you in harm's way again. Yes, you were his tool, his agent so to speak, but since he's done, you're done too. He no longer needs you, so he's going to kill you, as an added kick it'll make his brother suffer knowing he failed to protect you. If you want to think of it in a romantic sense, he wants to commit suicide with you and his brother. Of course it all depends on which ending you're looking at. In the original ending, he mentions he's going to blow up both Magenta and our apartment, and says Seven can make amends by allowing them all to die together; it seems romantic in a twisted way. He offhandedly mentions Yoosung will die too, forgetting the kid was there. When they wrestle him for the detonator, Unknown tells Yoosung that if the button is pressed, we will die too, like that was supposed to motivate him to stop. Unknown had lost his mind at this point, thinking it was a good thing to die in that moment, (Don't be scared, kid, your girlfriend will be dying with us.) Then he briefly captures Yoosung and tortures him, egging him on to talk about us as he tortures him. Either this was brought on because he wants to know why we're so great that Yoosung would save us, or he genuinely wants to hear about us; he's crazy at this point, so it could be either or both.

Now in the Yoosung Bad Ending 3, Seven instead of freezing up panics when he sees the detonator, knowing it will blow us up, then Unknown laughs and says we're not the only one going boom, as they're going up in smoke too. This purpose seems more malevolent, killing us as we have no more purpose to him instead of romantically dying together. In this one, Yoosung sacrifices himself to get the detonator away from him and ends up being indefinitely captured by him. While captured, the threat to keep him in line is no only will Unknown possibly mess with the RFA, he might also bring us to where they are. Seeing as he's torturing Yoosung, it's safe to say he'll probably torture us too. At this point, Unknown is just not happy Yoosung foiled his plans for revenge on his brother. As for what he thinks of us, he probably just sees us as a tool, something to release his anger on should the time come. He may have been attracted to us, but his plans come first.

Now let's talk about Jaehee's route, at least Bad relationship ending 2, as he doesn't really show up in the route aside from those. In this ending, V has apparently settled things between Mint Eye and the RFA, sacrificing himself to end the fighting. Yet, Unknown has still decided to cause trouble seeing as Luciel didn't play by the rules, so neither will he. He decided to go after you first because you seemed distracted. When you ask who he is, he asks you to call him an angel because he's delivering you to Paradise. He wonders if you wanted to see him (leaning on the 4th wall there), so he promises to spend so much time with you during your re-education that you will start to get sick of him. He also mentions he has a fun program planned for you that will probably make you tremble more than you're doing already.

So, it seems he wants to give personal attention to your re-education. Is this this because he feels this sort of possessiveness and responsibility towards you. He's the one to put you in there, and he's the one to take you out. You're his little tool of chaos, you're his assistant, so he has responsibility for you.

Now let's look at Zen's route. Unknown doesn't make himself known (ha) until near the end of the route. We get a little insight into Mint Eye's plans for the MC and RFA being discussed by Unknown to someone else. He's surprised we were able to pull it off (-_- What?), but everything is going according to their plans. (Question: why did he recruit us for this if he didn't think we could do it?) Apparently, we don't have to be good at the job he gives us, we just have to be willing to do it. Anyways, moving on...he says the plan is to capture the MC, which will eventually bring the RFA to them. Apparently the plan here is to bring in an innocent person so V will be pushed to throw a party, cause enough confusion and chaos that Unknown can hack in and obtain the guest information, and then kidnap the MC to cause even more confusion and chaos so the RFA can be captured and brought to Mint Eye. He then talks about his plans for the RFA, saying they'll tortured to the point where once they are nice to the members again, they'll be grateful to them. Zen then has a vision of MC being kidnapped; it doesn't actually happen, but in the dream we're told if we behave he'll treat us like a princess. The MC is referred to as a princess several times in the game. It's a term of endearment, so it's used by Zen and Jumin (who can actually treat you like a princess), but it's also used by Unknown, Ray and Saeran, for different reasons. When Unknown uses it in the dream, it means he'll treat you really nicely. Other times he uses it he seems to be implying that the MC is someone whom everyone wants to protect, someone who's sheltered away, a damsel in distress. When he actually shows up to kidnap you, he goes on talking about how he's taking you to a great place, so you should just come with him willingly. Yes, Zen comes in to save you, and he takes this moment to mock him and criticize the group. He points out that they shouldn't make a woman live on her own with bomb, even though having her live there was a part of his plan (He's pointing out they should have more common sense). He threatens to blow up the apartment if Zen tries anything, killing all of them. He's willing to die for the cause, and he doesn't care if you do as well; he's attracted to you, holds responsibility over you, but isn't in love with you. He tells Zen to watch as he takes "his girl" away. That's when you either bite his hand or wait for Zen to save you. He threatens to blow up the place, but apparently he doesn't because you go back there for the Valentine's day DLC. Maybe he had a change of heart, or didn't see the point because we already escaped.

Let's look at his bad endings, this is where Unknown shows more attraction to us. First, there is the 2nd Bad relationship ending. Basically, Zen doesn't get to us in time. Besides where he talks about how you don't have a choice and how you just waited mostly, he talks about what's going to happen. He says if re-educates you just a little bit, you will let go of everything and depend on him. He promises to protect you and give you an exciting life. He's mostly just excited on the fact you get to be "his." Here is my theory: despite everything, he's looking for a companion. He remembers his brother and his brother took care of him, but his brother "betrayed" him. He's lonely, and he wants that again, but not with him; he wants it with someone where he can be the protector, as he's not weak anymore; he'll also do a much better job than his brother did. The MC is attractive enough, maybe she can fill that role.

Then there's the third Bad Ending, where Zen also doesn't get there in time, of course in this ending we seem to go with him willingly. We are not happy we were forced to live with a bomb so we don't trust the RFA anymore. Unknown tells a story about a Prince and a Princess (Zen is Princely, and we are the RFA's Princess). The princess was being kept in a tall tower by a group of liars. She hoped the prince would save her, but he was just another liar. Luckily, there was someone better for her. There was an angel (him) watching her from afar, who wanted to bring her to paradise. Wisely, she believed him; going with him to paradise and becoming happy forever. The prince ended up following her, but unlike the princess it took him a bit for the angel to tame him. Unknown drugged and hypnotized Zen into becoming just a role to play, and it's implied he tortured him too. Unknown is crafting him into a prince to romance the princess (us), but Zen is having trouble focusing due to the drugs. I'm not sure how long that game would go, if he would even let us be together. Maybe Zen would be just some toy for us to romance, maybe he'll never be done 'practicing.' Either way, Unknown heavily believes Zen to be a liar, and not good enough for us. I think he's a hypocrite, as Unknown has pretended to be different people before. Unknown is insane, and insane people tend to be hypocrites. He doesn't think anyone is good enough for us, this is mainly because he believes he's better than all of them; we don't count as we're an innocent brought into this.

That's it for the regular routes. Now on to the Deep Routes.

First let's start with Jumin's Route, Unknown hardly shows up here. They run into him near the end of the route. Seven recognizes him, and Unknown asks how we're doing, queuing Seven in that he was the one behind everything. In the third Bad Ending, Unknown is waiting for you at the apartment. He expresses frustration that Seven basically destroyed his group, and now he wants to make him pay. His savior told him that in order to do that he had to wait for us at our apartment and then press the button. It doesn't seem like he knows exactly what it does in this route, as he's surprised when he hears the countdown. He does want to hurt us though, as he knows Seven cares about us; at least it was his job to protect us. There's no sign of attraction from him in this route, as he barely showed up. When he did, he was so mad, that we're just a means of revenge for him. Yeah he's attracted to us, but when he's mad, revenge comes first.

Seven's route the attraction comes through more. When Unknown realizes he's been tracked by his brother, he decides to speed up his plans to hack into the security system and kidnap the MC. As soon as he starts making his plans, he starts talking to us as if we can hear him ("Just you wait MC, I'll bring you to Mint Eye first.") You usually apostrophe like this if you're excited or anxious to see someone, or if you really wish someone could hear what you had to say to them. It shows he really wants to induct us. There's a story mode where he's talking to his savior about why he's leaving so suddenly, explaining that he wants to induct the girl he mentioned to them. Then he actually arrives at the apartment, telling us to be careful of the glass as he comes in (kudos to him). He explains to us he's the hacker of the security system and the one who led us to the apartment, as well as the one who sent the invites to paradise. He says the RFA is filled with liars and false hope which will be explained when we get to the second location. When we refuse, he tells us we don't have a say because he put us here, so he gets to take us out. This is all so everyone can be happy, including us. If you question the promise of Happiness, he's ecstatic thinking you're like him and promises special treatment for you at Magenta. If you still refuse to go, calling out for Seven, he gets furious. He claims Seven will not save us, and even if he tries it's too late. He then says he will cleanse us of our false faith and show us true paradise. He probably was reminded of how he wanted Seven to save him back in the day and he never did, and if Seven did try to save us, that would make him more furious; so Luciel would save her but not his own brother, huh? He wouldn't want to give him that satisfaction. He doesn't want us to believe in the fantasy he once believed in, so I guess he feels he's 'saving' us this way. He warns us that we better come with him while he's still rational. Seven then shows up, and Unknown grumbles that he was hoping to make Seven suffer, probably by taking away the person he was trying to protect. The brothers talk for a bit about their relationship and the past until MC is brought up again. Seven begs Saeran to let us go, as we nothing to do with what's going on between them. Saeran counters that since he brought us there, we're his. He then quickly figures out that Seven has feelings for us, and realizes he could torture us to hurt Seven. He's attracted to us, but his revenge comes first. If we try to get away, he warns us not to fight back as he will hurt us. He starts getting ecstatic thinking of how to torture us, implying most people have to go through it to get into Mint Eye anyway. Luckily, we get away from him.

In the first Bad Ending of 707's route, we don't manage to get away from him. He takes us away, planning on playing with us to inflict pain on Seven. So he tortures us, takes pictures of us in pain, and sends them to Seven. He's talking to us, but we might as well not be there; we're not even responding. He decides to make it seem like we ultimately enjoy what he's doing to us, make it seem like we don't care if we're rescued by him or not. So, basically Stockholm syndrome. We are very compliant at this point, either we actually do have Stockholm syndrome, or we're tortured to the point we'll do anything he tells us to do (The difference here is we still want to leave, still are hoping we'll be rescued). We're so obedient here, to the point we give him exactly what he wants. He seems to like that about us. He decides then to have us after photo taking. In our state of mind...yeesh.

Later in the route, when we find him at Mint Eye, we try convincing him to hear us out. When we first run into him, he doesn't like the fact we're friendly with each other. Of course, he does say it's nice to see us again. He probably doesn't want Seven to be happy with us, not that he holds anything against us. If we wish to run, he comments how we're so naive. Once Seven begins to explain himself, Saeran warns us not to trust him, as he was abandoned we will be too. If we tell him it was a misunderstanding, he believes we're brainwashed. If we say we'll be the judge of what happens, he says we're brave but foolish to follow Seven.

In the 2nd bad relationship ending of the route, he mistakes us for his Mom in a dissociative fit. This is probably because his brother is nearby, and we're the only woman nearby, he was probably brought back to his time as a kid. That doesn't count.

In the Third Bad Ending of the route, he tricks us into thinking us trying to convince him worked. He secretly leads us to a cell where we'll be locked in a corner until we're 'tamed.' Seven begs for us to be released, which Saeran doesn't wish to do. We are useless in his plans to become a better hacker, he only needs his brother. However, he thinks he can use us to keep Seven in line. He promises a good life for us as long Seven listens to him, but we'll be tortured in front of him should he misbehave. He likes us enough to treat us nicely, but his revenge comes first. Seven then threatens him into letting us go. Saeran then says his savior told him he shouldn't desire too many things. He then decides to let us go. So that says he would've liked to have us around.

Then there's the Secret endings, of course the reaction to us in those is not strong there. The only real reaction we get is that he mentions us in his apostrophe to Seven. He says that us and Vanderwood will join Mint Eye, which was his original plan for us, so he might react similarly to all the bad endings.

So far, he would like us as a companion, especially if we're like him and have a dark broken side. He genuinely believes he's doing us a good turn, and wants to 'help' us. Of course, he'd like us to be useful to him. As well as we can't come in between him and his revenge.

Let us now look at the Christmas DLC: In this DLC, the plan just seems to be kidnapping us. Of course, that isn't abundantly clear, especially seeing as the MC is super naive. First, you get a text asking if you remember him (I'd be pretty disappointed if you don't), he says he's been wondering how you've been doing and asks if you want to see him. If you ask him about the other members, he types you this madness mantra of how much he wants to get revenge. Of course, if you say you want to know who he is, he says to be patient in getting to know him, as he has a lot of questions too (By the time we're familiar with each other, a lot of things will have changed.) In his second text, he goes on about he feels like in his attempts to see us he'll be blocked. (I want to play with you...) He continues by mentioning the event, but not knowing about it. He asks you to invite him to the event (You won't keep secrets from me, would you?). You can send him the address to the apartment or the event. With the apartment, he comments he already knows it, but it's still difficult. With the event's address, he realizes that it's a Christmas charity party being thrown. The last text says he still has trouble getting through, but if he knew a moment where the red-head wasn't paying attention he'd find a weak spot, like the end of the event. So he asks for end-time. We can tell him the event's over, or we can tell him the event ends at nine. If we tell him it's over, he knows we're lying and plans to attack the RFA. If we do tell him the end-time, we remind him he said he'd come to get me soon. He's happy we remembered, (I'm liking you more and more), promises us that we'll have more fun with him than the RFA. Later he gives us a call, in that call he hints he can see us trembling with fear after he freaks us out with his creepy singing. No matter what we tell him, that we want our gift or we don't, he tells us he'll just do what he wants. He's our Santa, watching over us, difference being that he despises nice children. Of course, he encourages us to be nice until he comes to see us, just to see what will happen. He gives us a text later based on the person we bonded with the most. He likes to make us feel guilty about bonding with them. For Zen, he claims he's an actor so he's probably just pretending his feelings for us. For Yoosung, he claims Yoosung's eyes are on someone else and we're living in someone else's shadow. For Jaehee, he claims that she works so hard and is constantly busy so she doesn't have time for you. For Jumin, he claims his trust in you will break once he finds out you've been texting Unknown, you've basically betrayed him. For Seven, he says he will get quite upset when he finds out despite everything he's done to protect you, you've basically betrayed that. Then the event happens, but you don't see him until you get back home.

Most people I see react to this ending are not surprised and actually wanted to see him, but at least one person I saw was surprised it happened. So story wise, the MC probably didn't know this was going to happen. She is rather naive, she probably thought he was going to show up at the party. Also probably thought she could avoid a kidnapping. He is not a great guy to be with, he's emotionally manipulative.

When you see him, he wonders if you honestly thought the place would be empty, and hopes you had the happiest day of your life. He comments on how strong the security was, but he got through thanks to you. He wants you to admit you like him, (players maybe, MC who knows?) why else would you help him? Were you just being nice? (Some people have that problem). He tells you if you admit you like him he'll make your Christmas unforgettable. Of course, MC is trembling, so he wonders if she's scared of him or what might happen? He then critiques us saying if we're scared of what might happen, we shouldn't have contacted him. We were quite bold. He's fully down to believing we like him, regardless of what the reality is, and that we want to spend Christmas with him. He goes to tell us his idea of Christmas, thinking we'll love it. He tells us about Santa, and how he supposedly gives presents to nice children, however he's just a made up figure adults use to control their children. People are naive and believe in him, and so the bad people like him should just feel guilty on days like Christmas. A better version of Christmas for him would not have a Santa, and instead he'd take revenge on the adults who made him feel guilty. "And bad children like you and me...will get our presents." MC can tell this guy is unhinged and tries to run, but he tells her it's too late. He promises to show us real happiness, promising a Christmas so sweet we'll never want to return to reality. His Christmas has no naughtiness, no guilt, just Christmas. It then cuts to black as he laughs evilly and hysterically. At the end of the chatroom where the RFA is freaking out over our disappearance, he comes in and says he'll be taking "good care of the princess" Every day will be Christmas for us. So it ends with us being taken captive, enjoying Christmas with Unknown...forever. The CG looks tame enough, it implies we're his gift. We have a lot of presents. Of course, we're not smiling, we seem pretty blank. I guess I wouldn't know what to think.

This DLC re-establishes some things: He thinks we're like him, he wants to play with us, likes us when we're obedient, and considers us a "Princess." Also wants to treat us well, but I think that's mainly for his sake.

🐱 jumin’s route thoughts!

note that it’s been a few days since ive completed these endings / dlc so my memory might be a bit shaky of the entirety of them. i have some screenshots to go off of but that’s it lol. these are just some of my random thoughts and such that i have about jumin’s route when coming back after many years into the game again.

the reason i originally chose specifically to do jumin’s was because 1. i only have time for one route due to college, & 2. i remembered that he and zen were my favs back then. originally i was going to also write about the bad ending 2 & dlc but i lazy! lmao.

tldr; this is just my personal thoughts as i went through jumin’s route, feel free to add / comment anything. ^_^ i talk a lot about his character/past/actions, kinda like an analysis but not really since i am a dumbass & might be incorrect about some things. but in conclusion, jumin is very Complex character and can have some 🚩 tbh but he is very much still my little scrumgus i love jumin So Much. <3 he needs some tlc, a big hug, and also therapy. past me had great taste.

📱COMMON ROUTE

just wanted to say, it was extremely nostalgic to open up the game again after many years! i first started playing in 2016 (!!) but probably played again during quarantine in 2020ish (cannot remember). i came back in honestly not knowing ANYTHING about what would happen in jumin’s route. my memories are extremely shaky abt the game other than the main plot points involving v, rika, seven, & saeran. but my knowledge still was kinda low lol.

v’s birthday art is super pretty btw!! loved the homescreen image of it. the max speed feature is very nice, i probably should buy it since it’s only $3 but oh well. maybe if im really into the game? anyways, chatting in the messenger again is so weird lol it’s such a throwback and i definitely missed these guys’ shenanigans. literally zen complimenting himself so much was hilarious for some reason?? 😭 yoosung being a relatable college student, me feeling so bad for jaehee <3 girl does not deserve to be overworked like this all the time ?!?! and jaehee also complimenting zen’s looks as well as being his biggest fan LMAO. seven doing seven things (do not need to explain further). and jumin being the more serious and cold guy who also loves his cat and doing whatever he wanted sometimes. and saying random shit HAHA. which is sometimes a personality i would like in otome games (See: Saito). so im here like hm, i think i see why past me liked jumin! he probably warmed up to the mc and got really cute and romantic or something? and not at the way everyone kept on saying jumin might be “androgynous” LIKE you guys. do you mean aromantic or ???

📱 JUMIN’S MAIN ROUTE

okay first of all: sorry in advance if theres some random gaps between what im writing/events im talking about. idk i only have some screenshots to work off of and what i remember with my bad memory? but moving on, here’s my thoughts as i went on with jumin’s route.

okay, so glam choi and sarah are a thing in the story now. jumin is just annoyed - seems like he’s only encountered women who try to take advantage of him / only try to speak with him as if theyre wanting to get something in return, like money, as i believe the story framed? and how he was genuinely sad about his father trying to make him get into a marriage, especially because he was one of the only ones who had treated him with “love” in a way where he wasnt having a relationship where an exchange or reward would always be expected. his past with his mother (which i will might talk about more eventually) also shows how jumin has been raised to be more methodical and just. like a robot honestly, raised with no love and any time to express his emotions after being so… emotionless? he was never really taught that feeling, and ig it could be difficult to “teach” if he’s never really experienced much love or time to find times where he could be happy, sad, etc. etc. when he’s at home all the time surrounded with expectations and studies to prepare to become a ceo. okay kinda went off and mentioned the dlc anyways, but whatever. there’s a lot more to jumin’s character, which makes him complex imo and although i dont think i’ll be able to cover everything, just wanted to say that there’s been a lot going on for him, but it still cant completely excuse his actions at times!

and please note this is just my opinion on a fictional character, i would be glad to hear any thoughts anyone reading this has <3 this is a little personal analysis/thought post and there could (and could be a high chance) that i am wrong about some things! :] so take what i say with a grain of salt bc tbh im writing this all in one try and probably wont reread what i have, mainly a big fat ramble / word dump here!

i remember lowkey being confused about how fast mc & jumin’s relationship escalated at first bc it went from yeah just casually chatting in the casual route to everyone saying that mc has been the one causing jumin to smile more, to speak out more openly about his actual emotions for once, etc. but im not complaining, i still loved how jumin would say he would call mc just to hear their voice, saying it would calm him down and feel better. and other stuff along those lines. also why is his deep voice so hot.

biggest and greatest shoutout to jaehee being the best employee ever??? like, she’s been working overtime ALL THE TIME, doing extra work for jumin like researching about the scandals, having to reschedule things after jumin acts unreasonable 💀 while trying to keep everything in order. she deserves a raise, a promotion, a break, a vacation. like, i am picking every option that is defending her or telling her to take a break or that she’s doing great!!! i love jaehee and i hate to see how she never gets rest or food :[ not healthy, i was SO GLAD that she was able to finally get a vacay at the end of jumin’s route, but now im like, girl deserves to quit honestly if she was constantly treated like that at work 😭 which im glad it what happened in her route, which also makes me want to play her route next but i have no time. and now i will shut up and continue writing.

okay, so i remember i was kinda loving jumin again at this point lol. i remember just liking how he became more romantic & the times where he would be jealous. a lot of the phone calls he had were also great, and it was cute that he made pancakes for breakfast, & how he read a bedtime story like. pretty cute stuff!

LMAO and then i was like hm the red flags are kinda showing! but i am a bull and i love chasing red flags! jumin wanting mc to only look at him - you got it sir. possessive jumin! the kiss scene was surprising - honestly very unexpected bc he just kissed mc so randomly ??? at least he said that he was originally thinking of asking mc for permission or something like that? but yeah soap opera scene that i was like hm. then he was like “you can suck in all my emotions. you can be mine.” and i was like. oh. elizabeth’s disappearance is REALLY gonna make a difference here, huh. for the first time, jumin realized that he never really had someone like mc before? jk, he had rika and v with him back then where he was also open to them, but i feel like the biggest thing was how vulnerable jumin was atm? like, he’s in this fight with his father, who he had always been close to. rika and v are both not around to consult with. elizabeth had gone missing. he was beginning to refuse to listen to rta members and instead begin to protect who he had left, similar to the way he had described how he felt better after seeing elizabeth in a cage as opposed to when she was walking freely. he definitely needs to speak to a therapist himself. but without support from others, it probably was what he saw as one of the only solutions he can turn to? this was the first time he’s started to really open up and speak about his feelings bc he’s always just. never had a chance to be able to express them or be able to explain them ?! never really was taught these things, though it seems like he was also aware that it wasn’t right. lots of things going on showing that yeah, he definitely was not doing okay emotionally in the first place, pretty much!

this is kinda getting long now?? and im a bit lazy to continue writing so much more, so ill stop rambling too much and cover more. the way jumin was getting extremely possessive too was worrying like 🫢🚩 he really said we have everything in this penthouse! stay here forever and ill protect you from the outside world and its dangers! let me own you! and i was like sure, take me away when i did the bad ending. sorry for indulging ? BUT DAMN it was very unsettling to see him say that he would OWN mc like ??? ayo what!

and then all the rfa members were like ah. hopefully jumin is having a Very Healthy And Normal relationship as they speak in the chat room. while jumin and mc enjoy a nice dinner with jumin speaking about how great it would be for mc to stay home and try on all the things he had for her while never returning to the apartment! day 2 with jumin on his home - any way out? who knows! zen rlly was like. GET MC OUT OF THERE.

everything that happened in jumin’s route was just ESCALATING 📈📈📈 okok but from my screenshots, it begins to show how jumin is like. Yeah. i am pretty Bad and Dark for doing this and having all these thoughts that he doesn’t really know how to address ? emotions that he’s never had before coming out like hello! and he’s like, wtf do i do with you guys? he’s having a hard time out here. very open to mc who is, atm, the only one who could help him sort out his emotions & depending on the choices you choose, could really determine what jumin ends up doing with his emotions and how much he can control them? and like, mc can either feed into a more healthy relationship where jumin begins to feel like he does deserve love and that these feelings might stem from how little he felt in the past. or mc could feed into a much harmful/toxic relationship as seen in the bad ending. !!! very interesting huh. also shows how much jumin has begun to depend on mc after everything that happened in these last like. two days.

now im like 💀 this is the most ive ever written for a review so far yet, i literally just dumped out some random thoughts i had on 4 hours of sleep, and i should def be sleeping rn!! but it’s okay!! sorry if i wrote anything that doesn’t make sense in these last paragraphs ??? i wont cover the seven and yoosung at mint eye hq to save time/space.

on a more light hearted note: yay!!! jaehee finally gets her vacation!!! jaehee gets justice!!! also watching zen and jumin bicker in the chat room is honestly one of the most hilarious things in this game. jumin in the chat room with mc plus another member usually ends up with the member becoming a third wheel and also very annoyed when jumin and mc are like i miss you <3 you’re so cute <3 ily <3 and every single rfa member is absolutely begging them to just privately message each other at this point lmao. AND NOT @ JUMIN HAVING THE WHOLE MARRIAGE THEME GOING ON HIS RFA ACCOUNT???! 😭😭😭 but i would happily marry jumin. so yeah at this point it was pretty much guaranteed i was getting the good ending, didnt get the bad ending during the route so we are here with jumin being very romantic in the chat room! 🫢

homestretch! we made it to day 11 of the party!! the new home screen again is sooo cute. i didn't know they changed it up when it's party day! also looking at everyone, realized that jumin is So Cute. i love his looks. just a very handsome guy. love him for that. i am going to make this extremely short because i am now tired of doing all of this analysis and deep thinking. i want to make funnies of jumin and my headcannons of him now. scrumgus. i don't even know if that's the right word i'm thinking of but the energy scrumgus gives describes my love for jumin yay! it was nice seeing the rfa meet mc for the first time in person, and it was also great that the entire party was voiced! it felt weird hearing them talk tbh its like. i only know their voices from their little emojis. and the occasional phone calls. okay but that is getting off track. loved how dramatic jumin was for this party. he invited glam choi and sarah, and had this Great Big Speech that sarah was totally in love with, and instead it ended up being about mc. lmaooo. i cannot remember but was jumin the one who chose mc's dress? or am i just remembering wrong? idk. i also need to read the after ending (after forgetting that it existed for a second!)

wow. jumin's route was definitely a very big and twisty roller coaster. i wish i had completed the common routes before replaying jumin's route again just to be able to see and compare how emotionally open jumin was in his route compared to in other routes? like, we get a glimpse of just your everyday business jumin in the common route, but idk. i just wish i got screentime(?) of everyone in general too!

i love jumin a lot. after living his life filled with these expectations of being a ceo. being the perfect employee (which i also found interesting to hear about how everyone had admired/looked up to him at work. he's definitely skilled at what he does, and he barely mentions anything about that himself!) and then the way he began to actually open up? love that for him.

i love jumin a lot actually. and it was pretty nice for me to look over and think about everything after completing his route in general. even though my memory is garbage (tbh had to heavily rely on the screenshots i took), i liked being able to take the time to kinda add in my thoughts on everything while i typed this all out. literally did not do any thinking at all. i have no brain or patience for that and i rarely write this big ass essays or whatever this ended up becoming??? nice change. idk if i'll ever do this again, not my style and i had to force myself to finish this. also am Nervous of posting this T_T. but yeah! i love jumin. i am a jumin stan. and again, if anyone would like to correct me or add on to anything that i have written here, that would be very cool with me! review that got pretty rushed in the end is finally done hooray!

I adore Yoosung and he's my fav, but I honestly don't really like his route that much.

I mean I like it for the fact you can actually be cute with each other, for the back story, and lore stuff, but most of the time he's potentially confusing you for Rika or in potential danger from helping to find the hacker and to protect you.

He ends up in the worst shit, even on his best ending he still gets jabbed in the eye and is made blind there. I do like Saeran, but he mercilessly injured my boy, in the eye. Yeesh. Even with V, I sit back and just think... How? Did they use their fingers? A knife? How did they do it with out the eye... Just... Being beyond saving? I have no idea how that works.

Most of the other routes you can actually spend times with them in person, in visual novel mode before day 11 on the day of the party, not Yoosung. In fact he's MIA for nearly 2 days. My first playthrough, I just felt anxious because I didn't know how the game worked yet and I'd already become paranoid because my first ending was the common bad ending.

I think that ending is what sealed the deal with me making it my goal to pursue Yoosung first. It was too heartbreaking to see him get taken away to only God knows where (as far as I knew at that time). I was like "Noo Yoosung! Don't die, I'll take care of you!! T __T "

When I first saw the game back in 2016, I already made the mental note about Yoosung, as he aligns most with what I'm attracted to, but I didn't play at that time. What actually pushed me to finally play recently (December) was because I realized you could "romance" Jaehee, who also falls under what I'm attracted to. I was like "Aah, she's so cute! She kinda reminds me of Elli, but with glasses! 💖"

Alas, as I went in blind the first time, I just answered whatever I wanted to and didn't target anyone specifically. Therefore earning the common bad ending. It almost gave me a heart attack lol. I didn't see it coming, completely blind sided.

In the end, no matter what route I played, Yoosung always called to me like a siren to seaman and my fate was sealed.

Of course, I played Jaehee next, but I was a bit disappointed because I felt like my loyalty and jealously was being tested. She spent more time with Zen than with me!! Despite being so... "Bff's forever" like, I still felt it was a powerful message for her to hand those keys over to you. That in itself was like a marriage proposal. To live your life together living in and running the cafe together. It was really sweet. However, the fact it was so friendship emphasized, it kinda made me less interested in a focused, romantic way.

I... Digressed? A lot?

Anyway, as a glasses freak, Yoosung ending up in glasses was a beyond amazing and pleasant surprise, while Jaehee loses hers and never needed them in the first place. 🤭😏

so, i have seen something going around the mystic messenger fandom...and i would like to just share my thoughts on it. 

i would like to quickly add that this is just my opinion on it and my perspective. i also am not sure if this has been confirmed or not - but, either way, my personal thoughts mostly stay the same. 

in my eyes, it is no small thing what’s going around...whether this is a fictional story or not.

tw: heavy mentions of suicide and mental health. major spoilers ahead. 

i have had several discussions based on this going around. i have also seen it on instagram, heard it is going around on twitter and have seen it on tiktok.

i think, to go so far as to put something like that on another character is a bit much...even in a fictional game. it could, potentially, mess up a lot of people’s mindsets playing. i do not think it is a fair perspective on players or what this game is even about. it could also be possibly triggering to players. yoosung is depressed. he lost someone really close to him, that gave him motivation/inspiration. and his grades started slipping, he lost his drive and he just distracted himself with lolol without taking care of himself. and if we really look at it...no character takes care of themselves here. zen doesn’t eat properly...a diet of salad and beer, long hours. he sometimes smokes. jaehee works long hours without getting proper rest or meals - relies strictly on caffeine to keep going. jumin says he takes of himself but it is canon that people have seen him take multiple espresso shots to get going in the day at once. not to mention how he turns to drinking in different points of any route and his sleep schedule is crazy. saeyoung hardly sleeps either; just eats junk food, or mostly chips and soda, and struggles to take care of himself. jihyun is also not taking care of himself, including not receiving needed medical care, as he tries to solve everything going on in the background. saeran isn’t able to take care of himself either when you get to his route due to his situation, including further poisoning his body with the elixir. vanderwood is even in a similar position as saeyoung but, perhaps, dealing in different ways we have not seen much of yet.

so much of this can be attributed to, again, the stress every member is under due to their jobs, student life and situation. so much is attributed to their trauma, mental state, mental health... and so much we find out about in every route. it is also based around their relationships, families and secrets we uncover.

and, coming back to yoosung...i will say that, heartbreakingly, suicidal ideation may happen. and connecting it to the other members once more; there is a moment in jaehee’s route where jumin purposefully, while under the influence, endangers his own life. saeyoung is also severely depressed and “jokes” about his will to live at different points...and in jihyun’s after ending, when he believes his brother has passed, he no longer wants to live and has to be stopped by jumin and vanderwood. jihyun himself is so self-sacrificial...he is willing to risk his own life in order to protect others and to even prove his “love” to rika. and saeran does attempt suicide at the end of jihyun’s route after giving a farewell call to mc...and then has to be saved by jihyun who thanks god for him being alive. and, even before that, expresses (similarly to saeyoung) his lack of care for his own life. and mina (rika) is also shown to idealize self-harm and, perhaps, even suicide as well. 

...and then looping back to yoosung, i do think he is a character who needs help (much like everyone else in the game) and he does need to be acknowledged about this and for his struggles. his mental health, stress as a student, lack of motivation due to all of these facts and reeling from the “death” (another apparent suicide) of a family member close to him. again, i believe there may even be moments from yoosung about his own suicidal thoughts (i’m not denying this fact)...things said in passing based in moments of high emotion and severe depression. 

suicide, mental health/illness, including (in some contexts) suicidal ideation are all, heartbreakingly, major themes and subjects in mystic messenger. 

but, also, i have to add...that to say that someone would have committed suicide without another certain character...is detrimental to some of the positive themes shown in this story. themes of recovery, forgiveness and self-love. of showing actually getting better, healthier coping mechanisms and forming strong bonds with healthy relationships. 

perhaps, this theory (or fact, if it has been confirmed, i have not seen such confirmation yet though)...is saying, more in the sense, that without intervention for yoosung (and any member) these unhealthy coping mechanisms and pain they were going through would not have been properly acknowledged. it is a major part of the whole storyline to acknowledge their feelings and help them through that...to highlight the importance of that. (and not doing so, or encouraging further toxic behaviors, is what leads to the bad endings...this is not hating on completing bad endings or saying you shouldn’t do so - but that is what those can represent. and why only the good endings are considered canon.) 

but i fear that if anyone were to take the stance of “_____ would have killed themselves if _____ was not there” is almost along the lines of “i would no longer want to live if you were not here” or “i would k*ll myself if you were gone”...both of these mindsets are not okay, severely toxic and painful. and, in terms of forming healthy and strong bonds like these characters should (and eventually do)...it ruins the theme of that. the lesson in that.  

my point is; it is all about perspective and showing the deeper context of such a statement. and to please, please be careful when sharing such a statement or reading it.   every character in this story is not in a good place at all when you/mc/hana enter the picture. and, sure, it can be said that mc gives them that boost of energy (brings the spring breeze again, so to speak)...but, really, they just encourage them to do it themselves and talk to each other. while i love the hc where we can have a more active part in helping everyone - to say mc (or hana) does nothing as it is now is not true. 

they holds their hands, they are kind and they listen. they encourage them to take care of themselves and is just there through it. and when helping someone going through something - that’s what it’s really about. (there is no english translation for the webtoon yet so this part is just based on me skimming the chapters as they are released.) but hana seems to also be kind, encouraging and gives them that kick again. everyone in the rfa truly does care about each other and, sure, they needed someone to remind them again. but i genuinely think to take that dark of a possible “what if” is not fair to the story at all or the characters.

things like this never take just one person or are on one person’s back. it’s everyone involved - it’s a support system. that is just what the rfa needed to see more clearly. (even before mc came in and helped...it’s still said that, while the rfa were worried and didn’t know where to go from where they were...they still did use the chatroom as an outlet to talk to each other. so, they were getting there. could things have gotten more complicated if mc hadn’t come? yes...again, they changed the course tremendously. but for things to go that far is just...not true to me.) 

(side note: the only thing that makes me sad is how someone could be potentially left out when you’re on another route. it’s why i wish for a final route where you can help everyone. and/or what i’m wishing for the webtoon to be.) 

but each route gets to show the possibility of hope and recovery for every single character in this game - and how that strength and care and love was in them all along.  again, i have no idea about anything like that being confirmed or not. mental health is a HUGE theme in mystic messenger as a whole - but i take the perspective of what i said more when thinking about it either way. (along with some other things that I’ve posted about on tumblr before.) anyways, in your life, reach out for help if you need it. there is hope..support each other and you can find strength within yourself again. & in my opinion, when playing the game (or now reading the webtoon), that’s something it teaches and shows as well.

edit: this is not a “this is right and this is wrong” post. things are never black and white - mental health and recovery is never linear. i just want to add that in case anything here came across as preachy or like i was trying to sound...well, lecturing even. i am not a professional by any means and am just someone who also struggles with their own mental health. so, i hope nothing in this post came across as offensive, hurtful or insensitive.

- Yoosung is a ticklish cutie, however, he will deny it.

- Zen tasers him there a lot when they hang out because Yoosung will shriek and it’s fun, though very embarrassing, especially in public

- His mom used to make him soup whenever he felt sick and said it was magic

- She would rub his tummy to make sure the magic absorbed into his body

- Yoosung still loves the recipe and makes it whenever he gets sick. One time he had the flu and was in fever delirium and asked MC to rub the magic in and they were very confused

- Yoosung placed their hand on his torso and asked them to rub his tummy to make him feel better, and MC has done it ever since

2. Zen:

-kinda spoilery if you haven’t played his route

- His family wasn’t especially close with him, so he didn’t get tickled a lot when he was younger, with the exception of his brother before he ran away.

- But when he started becoming closer to MC, tickle fights broke out often with MC on the receiving end

- Zen is an actor and he will put on a show. One time MC came home to Zen “asleep” on the couch after a long day and as soon as they sat down, Zen tackled them and tickled them silly.

- Very teasy ler, he will have you blushing before he even starts to wreck you

- Big fan of the Tickle Monster

- He pulls little stunts like this to get the drop on MC and his friends but also just to put smiles on their faces.

- Although one day, the time came

- For Zen to get a taste of his own medicine

- And it was not disappointing lol

- I peg Zen to only be ticklish in a couple of places but he is extremely sensitive in these places which are his underarms, sides and tummy, and his feet

- Like, we all know Zen

- Very dramatic and just an expressive person

- So when he’s tickled he’s very loud and talkative

- Breathy giggles when you start out but when you really get him he has this booming laugh and it gets a bit wheezy

- Tries to act tough but he’s very squirmy and he breaks down pretty quick

3. Jaehee:

- Baehee

- She’s so sweet and she loves you so much

- She was a bit hesitant about skinship when you guys started dating but you both eased into it

- She loves cuddles and she likes to be the big spoon and make you feel safe and warm

- Jaehee notices that you are a bit tense while you guys are cuddling one night, and she asks if anything was up while tracing around your torso, and you tell her everything is fine, until it clicks. She just keeps doing it as you offered up no protest and continues to do it until you start to giggle and she smiles

- She thinks it’s super cute but stops as not to bother you/keep you from relaxing

- But it actually was very relaxing and you enjoyed it, so you asked her to continue and you can just feel her heart swell, she loves you so much man

- Jaehee is not super ticklish in most places but if you surprise her or get her under her arms or her back, she’ll die

- She likes being tickled, but she would rather tickle you, because it makes you happy and you’re just so darn cute when she does

- She prefers relaxing tickles and when she tickles others, its most often gentle scribbles and scratches

- But this doesn’t mean that she won’t completely wreck you because she can and will

- She has mad tickle skills bc she’s an amazing aunt and she knows how to get her niece

- Her nails are very pretty and long but they are extremely effective tickly weapons.

- She gets kind of hyper when she drinks espresso and she gets really energetic and playful, morning tickles are definitely a thing

4. Jumin:

- Okay first things first, this man is a huge freaking tickle spot okay

- He will deny it to the day he dies but it doesn’t matter bc it’s true

- Most places will get him laughing but really bad on his tummy and thighs, especially the backs of his thighs

- One of the times you were over at his house, you guys were watching a movie and Elizabeth jumped onto the couch

- She sat on your lap for a while and joined your blanket burrito party but eventually she wandered over to Jumin

- She started doing the biscuits into his thighs (ya know like the thing cats do with their paws and just like walk in place uwu) and he just started squeaking and giggling before he picked her up and resituated her

- But it was the cutest thing you had ever seen and you knew you had to see it again

- So you reached over and poked your fingers into his thigh and he yelped and you wrecked him good

- He has this really low squeaky laugh and he protests a lot and thinks it’s kind of childish but that doesn't mean that he won’t wreck MC because he loves to and does it often

A when he is a ler, he’s teasy and always talks about how cute you are and if Elizabeth is around he discusses the matter at hand with her

- “Elizabeth, you will notice that MC is quite ticklish just above their knees, if you squeeze like so-“

- let me just start out by saying he is an EVIL ler

- If he finds out you’re ticklish he will never let you live it down

- Takes any chance he gets to tickle you, he loves your laugh and how cute you are when you’re tickled

- He loves raspberries, because they make silly sounds and make you make silly sounds

- He thinks you’re so adorable and calls you pet names such as: Squirmy Wormy, Gigglepants, Tickle Bug, Kitten, and just the normal cutie pies and stuff like that

- He’s big on pet names in general and fawning over you

- He even shares his beloved HB chips, anything for you

- His hands are super sensitive because he types all the time and works with his hands, as well as his neck, waist, and knees

- One time you were giving each other manicures (he wanted to try some nail polish you brought over one time during a sleepover) and he kept messing it up and getting it all over his fingers so you just snatched his hand and did it for him

- His hands are so sensitive the applicator for the polish tickled him, but not enough for him to laugh so he just got this weird wobbly half smile

- You asked him to hold out his hands and wave them to let it dry but you accidentally hit his hand in the process and got some nail polish across his palm. You apologized and tried to wipe it off but he just broke down into soft laughter

- He likes being tickled, he’s a switch, you guys just kind of figured it out and wrecked each other ever since

- He’s just a playful person in general so there are a lot of tickle fights between you two, which Vanderwood finds kind of annoying but it’s funny to watch Seven getting absolutely destroyed™️

Unspoken Words [MysMe - 707/Saeyoung]

Hi! This is the very first fic I ever wrote, and it’s a Mystic Messenger one as well! Am I super stressed about it? You can bet I am! :D

This was actually inspired by a song, “After Dark - Aimer - words”. I couldn’t help falling in love with it, and this little story is what popped to my mind when I read its touching lyrics. Definitely give it a try!^^

Genre: Angst (?)

Word Count: 1.3k

Synopsis: As time goes by, we learn to move on from the past. But leaving behind the person you once considered your soulmate can prove to be one of the most painful choices you ever had to make.

Notes: This is based on the Reset/Sentient 707 Theory.

“I love you.”

Those words that echoed within your very soul.

Those letters you had grown so fond of.

...Did they really have any meaning anymore?

Getting out of the shower, you checked your phone for any new notifications, switching among countless apps and social medias, without any real purpose. You just felt empty staring at your lock screen, as a twinge of sadness within your chest reminded you once again of the people you had decided to leave behind.

It had been almost a month since you had last opened the messenger app. You had already completed everyone’s route after all, and there was no need for you to go back. You gave everyone their happy ending, and the game just reset as it should. You never dared to achieve a bad ending, afraid of hurting those people you had grown to care so much for.

That was it. You had made it. You had completed the game.

You had given Yoosung the courage he needed to move on.

You offered Zen the reassurance and care he needed so much.

You helped Jaehee to finally live up her dreams.

You allowed Jumin to open up and managed to heal him.

You gifted Saeyoung the happy ending he always deserved.

“…It was supposed to be over.” That’s what you told yourself, at least.

The resets were bound to happen after all. It was all programmed. No matter how many times you started it all over again, you could feel the pain in your chest getting stronger each and every time they occurred, knowing that in the end… you would never be truly happy with them. You were ready to leave everything as it was; ready to move on. Leaving behind the RFA in the ‘happily-ever-after’ you gave them, and finally going somewhere where you hoped you could at least find the solace you longed for.

But that last glance you gave the messenger icon was when everything unfolded once again. His now so-familiar words echoed through your ears, almost numbing your whole body and mind.

“Aww, yeah! You’re the best!”

“Your voice has been playing inside my head nonstop today.”

“I really like that you’re so bright. I feel like I’m under the sun when I talk to you.”

“Do you think... it’s possible? Can we really overcome all obstacles and smile in the end? And one day… have a happy family?”

“What can I do to protect you?”

“I don’t want you to be in danger ever again.”

“I love you. I want you to look at me and love me too. We’ve come too far to turn back. I’m already too deep into you…”

“I love you, my one and only love.”

And that’s where you gave in. You felt the floor collapse under your feet as tears began gathering up in your eyes.

“He loves you”, you thought, “he really does.”

Your mind was flooded with thoughts of the person you once considered your true love, the one your heart had been seeking for so long. You tried so hard to contain the downpour of emotions inside of you, afraid of breaking down like shattered glass if your mind went too deep into those words of his.

That was your breaking point. As silly as that promise was… it meant something.

God, you had heard it so many times now, as a simple, mere joke, more often than not.

But your mind still couldn’t help flashing back at the bright and cheerful images of the 707 you laughed so much with, of the Luciel who suffered and still kept on fighting, and of the Saeyoung who had opened his heart and offered it to you.

For so many years, you wondered what “Love” really meant. It wasn’t until he came into your life that you started seeing the monochrome world burst into a myriad of vivid colours. He had made you happy… It was the very first time you had felt someone genuinely care about you. With his heart and soul, he would be ready to offer his life for you.

…And you loved him, too.

You weren’t lying when you screamed those words at him at the top of your lungs while on the verge of death. You promised him you would take care of Saeran together, and that you would always be there for each other. But now, you couldn’t face Saeyoung anymore, afraid of him hating you for being a liar.

Your mind was still filled with the memories of your soulmate. Your whole body missed his gentle touch, his caresses and the comfort he gave you whenever he held you in his arms. His tender voice, paired with his unique outfits which never failed to either make you burst out laughing, or made you look at him with admiration; You missed him. So much…

There was nothing more you could do for him, before everything would reset. You grew tired of that endless cycle of pain, guilt and regrets for your never-fullfilling promise, and, for as much as it pained you, you deciced to distance yourself and leave everything in what you thought was “The best possible outcome”.

Slumped over on the floor, a few words left your quivering lips, holding the weight of a thousand regrets.

“Forgive me… Sae, please…”

You had once again disappeared from the messenger. He always waited for a reset; to be able to see your gentle smile, to feel your soft lips on top of his, and to tell you how much you fulfilled his entire being once again. But that day never came. Soon enough, he started fearing that you might have gotten bored out of it all and left everything behind you. There was a linger of hope which kept him wondering if you’d at least come back to say ‘Farewell”, or just send him a small text through the RFA chatroom. But days turned into weeks, and there was still no response.

“I should have known this day was about to come. …I don’t deserve to be happy with you, after all. I never truly did.”

A single tear rolled down Saeyoung’s cheek, as he stared up at the sky, and the pain in his voice, becoming more apparent with every word he uttered.

He knew he was your favourite. You had repeated it, over and over. You promised him that no matter whose route you would chose, you’d always come back for him in the end. And the single thought of you breaking that promise shattered his heart in a thousand pieces.

“…You’re so mean. You left without a single word. And I had faith that you would come back… But look at me now. I fell for the sweetest angel that ever existed, and not having you here is so damn painful. Why did you leave without a goodbye…? We had made a promise to each other… I… can’t go on without you…”

A long silence ensued as the red headed boy closed his eyes and mustered the courage to finally say those words which pained him to the core. This time, no one was there to see the pain in his face. Yet, there was a hint softness in his voice, and a spark of hope which ignited his golden eyes once again. His right hand digging into the pocket of his jacket, he pulled out little kitty-like gadget, its white fur and icy blue eyes mirroring Jumin's beloved cat. A sigh left Saeyoung's mouth, as he stared at the object endearingly...

“...I love you. And I always will. You might forget about me, but I never will. I’ll wait for your return… always. Even if the stars don’t want us to meet again,” he said as a smile graced his lips and tears streamed down his face.

“We had promised to go to the space station together, after all…”

Replaying Jaehee’s route and seeing Jumin act the way he does is always a little hard and sad for me.

Mainly because (if you played his route) we know exactly why Jumin does the things that he does to Jaehee. We know why he overworks her, makes her adhere to a strict dress code, etc, etc. And it’s…sad. It’s sad to see Jumin raised in such a way that such behavior has become normalized to him,, or stuff that he has to do to protect himself.

But at the same time, it’s completely and utterly unfair to be an awful person just because you had an awful past. Jaehee is well within her rights to leave her toxic work environment.

But, it’s still really sad to empower Jaehee while letting Jumin fall deeper and deeper down the spiral. Let’s be real, at the end of Jaehee’s route, Jumin basically becomes an alcoholic and everything sucks for him.

Of course, Jaehee is not obligated to care for Jumin. She still thinks moderately highly of him, taking into consideration how poorly he treated her. Her needs and wants should come before anyone/anything else’s, and her whole route is centered on her figuring that out and growing from it.

I don’t know, I guess what I’m saying is that I wish there was a way to help both of them get through their issues, instead of constantly alienating both Jumin and Jaehee from each other.

For example, one important part of Zen’s Route is Zen making amends with Jumin. This represents Zen coming to terms with what his family has done to him and growing from that. (Or something like that lol. It’s been a while since I last played his route.) Zen’s and Jumin’s relationship is essential for Zen’s growth as a person, and I feel like the same could be said for Jaehee’s and Jumin’s relationship, as well.

Despite what they say, Jaehee and Jumin do care for each other, and to have Jaehee’s route just be about having the two of them end on bad terms puts a sour taste in my mouth.

Now, I’m not saying that we (or MC ig) have to go into depth about why Jumin treats Jaehee like that and try to solve all of his issues that stem from all of his trauma. It is Jaehee’s route, after all. The focus should be on her.

But, I would have much preferred Jaehee and Jumin to have an amicable split. It doesn’t have to be anything complicated.

Maybe something jarring happens to Jumin or maybe MC talks to him or something. Whatever it is (it doesn’t matter), Jumin realizes that, wow maybe he has been overworking Jaehee past the point that she can feasibly handle, after all. Since Jumin has low empathy (at least, I think he does?), he often has a lot of trouble understanding how other people feel, so he needs something (or someone?) to help him realize certain things.

Anyway, Jumin realizes that he has been a jerk and offers Jaehee a vacation. Instead, Jaehee quits (because she is ready to open a coffee shop with her new wife) and lives her own life. Jumin, while disappointed, understands and apologizes or whatever.

I know that this is like,, really similar to Jaehee’s bad ending 2 without Jaehee’s near-death and thinking that she is fundamentally broken for not being able to do the work assigned. But I really liked that ending, since it was the only one where Jumin fully understands how he was hurting Jaehee. Of course, that ending is far from happy, but it shows that Jumin is capable of changing and understanding Jaehee’s situation.

Also, Jumin doesn’t get completely screwed over from being betrayed by the people he trusts the most. You know how much he cares for and trusts the RFA. In the good ending, he still feels betrayed and backstabbed by his own family of sorts and I just :((

I just,,,really want Jaehee and Jumin to have a positive relationship. (And Jumin to be in a relatively good mental state but that’s beside that point.) In the end, they are a part of the RFA and to see their relationship to be bitter and cold hurt me a lot.

I guess you could argue that their relationship was never all that good to begin with: it was always fairly distant and cold, even from the beginning. After all, the only reason Jaehee joined the RFA was that Jumin thought she worked hard and well enough as his assistant. Their relationship is purely work-related.

And that’s what I’m saying!! In addition to learning to care and focus on her own needs and quitting her job, Jaehee’s route could have also been about making amends and becoming semi-friendly with Jumin. Instead of just…Jaehee betraying Jumin and leaving him at his weakest.

Also,,,having Jumin uhh actually learn from his mistakes would be great too?? Because, honestly, Jumin treats Yoosung the exact same way as he did with Jaehee in her After Ending. The only apparent difference is that Jumin is now an alcoholic (and is struggling with Jaehee leaving him and whatever). Like,, has Jumin not learned anything during Jaehee’s route??? Keep treating Yoosing like that and he’s about to leave too lol

Speaking of Jumin not learning from his mistakes, Jumin did seem a tad ooc in her route. I mean, I know that he overworks her and stuff because that’s referenced in other routes, but wow does Jumin go overboard. Like,,he hosts a meerkat project, but meerkats…are not even cats. It feels like that’s ignoring exactly why Jumin makes so many cat projects and makes Jumin seem almost crazy.

Also, in other routes, Jumin cares about everyone’s health and safety a lot. It’s one of his top priorities. But in Jaehee’s route, he almost lets her faint for some dumb meerkats.

This doesn’t exactly have anything to do with this post lol. I just wanted to mention it.

But, anyway, I just want both Jaehee and Jumin to both learn and grow from Jaehee’s route. I want Jumin to understand what he did wrong and try to fix it. And when it’s too late, I want Jumin to try to do better with his next assistant and to not be sad and hurt anymore.

Uh, I hope that this post doesn’t make me seem too hateful of Jaehee. I adore her and I adore her route. It’s amazing and seeing her get confident and learn to stand up for herself fills me up with such joy. I just get sad seeing Jumin getting screwed over.

Hogwarts Houses (MM Preferences)

hiiii i’m a ravenclaw!!! note: i know a lot of people interpret the houses differently, but i’m just going off of what most people think about the houses

Yoosung

- Hufflepuff 

- he’s VERY loyal

- even after all the shit that happened with Rika in V’s route, he still was nice to her and wanted to trust her

- hell he even loses an eye for you

-  isn’t very hard-working as a college student but i think that’s mainly due to the loss of his cousin

- however, he was VERY hard-working in LOLOL so i think that counts 

- once you save him and he becomes a veterinarian, he works extremely hard to the point where his stress levels are crazy high at some points 

- hufflepuffs are usually pegged as the nicest which proves true for Yoosung because he was one of the only people who were instantly trusting and kind towards you when you first entered the chatroom

Zen

- Gryffindor

- ignoring everyone, he rushed to your house and faced the intruder

- he’s practically fearless since he really puts himself out there by performing on stage

- he got up and left his family to pursue his dreams which takes a lot of courage as well

- he didn’t conform to make his family happy and did everything he possibly could to remain 100% himself

- gryffindors are also usually pegged as being proud which totally fits zen for obvious reasons

- he’s also flirty which demonstrates his confidence in himself

- he’s also quite literally the knight in shining armor so i think this house is perfect for him

Jaehee

- hufflepuff

- she’s ridiculously hard-working

- honestly there isn’t a thing that woman cannot do

- she can handle 100 tasks at once and finish them in a day

- she’s also very humble 

- her loyalty is unquestionable

- if a close friend asks her for help, she’ll put it on the top of her priority list and make sure she helps

- like when all the shit with Mint Eye happened and everyone was asking her for favors, she added that to her list without much complaining

- like V, she puts her friends before herself a lot because she perceives it as being the nice thing to do 

Jumin

- Slytherin

- he’s always aiming to be the best and be on the top

- when the company is slipping even slightly, he gets frustrated and upset 

- very resourceful and can make virtually anything happen if it benefits him in some way

- HUGE perfectionist 

- gets fussy when something is out of place or done incorrectly

- when he is completing a task YOU KNOW it’s going to be done perfectly and to a T 

- and that’s part of the reason why he’s so successful

- he has clear goals in mind and knows exactly what to do to reach them

- loves to be the person in charge

Seven

- he is so obviously a ravenclaw to me

- one, he’s ridiculously smart

- he’s IQ is probably off the charts

- but my main reasoning it, HE’S SUCH A CREATIVE BABE

- he crafts you all these little robots like the talking cat

- literally makes up tons of creative and crazy stories like the one he told to Yoosung about how he got the HBC

- super witty and always has a cute comeback to every insult

- HUFFLEPUFF

- he literally let himself get torn apart to protect his friends

- he went through literal hell with that bitch to protect his friends

- all the mistakes he made were coming from a good place in his heart

- he puts all his friends above himself which gets him into trouble

- when yoosung was suspicious and accusing of him, he didn’t lose his temper or get angry (like i did) 

- is a big plushy bluenette babe who is happy as long as his friends are happy

Saeran

- gotta say Gryffindor imo

- he could have fell into the whole weaker twin thing but HELL TO THE NO

- he doesn’t accept that

- he works his ASS off to get even better at hacking than Seven is

- pulls his own damn self out of the gutter

- of course, he was corrupted by Rika, but that doesn’t change how courageous he was

- when he was in mint eye, he worked on becoming a better hacker in order to stand up for what he wrongfully believed in at that point

- he left Mint Eye which was the only place he thought accepted him so you two could go live a better life

- he went back to the house where he was abused at the end of his route

- he pushed through the brainwashing and tried to work on things with Seven 

-  would have very easily died to save you 

- refused to fall into the weak twin category and proved himself to be arguably stronger than Saeyoung

“I thought a lot on my way over here to see you. Whether you’ll embrace me and proceed with the ceremony or… I really want you to proceed with the ceremony. But it just feels like that isn’t what you want to do. And? I keep finding myself thinking about horrible things…” 

Ray stood in front of her with a heavy heart and his expression was a little different this night. He came in the room with a frown on his face and yet, there was a spark in his eyes that remained ever hopeful that something would change or be alright for the very first time. 

He reached out and pressed his hands into her own as he tried to get a feel for her again. 

Lila stared up at Ray, uncertain. She had been doing her best to play his game and she had been working hard. There was just something odd about the AI. There wasn't something that meshed well with how she was feeling. 

They just felt… too real. 

It was uncomfortable. 

Ray was real, Ray was tangible. She could hold his hands and she could feel him where she couldn't with the AI. She knew he was real, but she couldn't shake that twisting feeling in her gut. It happened every time she spoke with any of the RFA and when they started to second guess everything she was saying, she got scared. 

She would politely excuse herself and pray. 

Ray looked so very concerned. With one hand pressed her forehead he tried to check to see if she had a fever or something of the sort. “Lila, you don’t look so good. You’re not sick, are you? Should I get a doctor for you? Were you putting off playing the game because you don’t feel well? Is that it?” 

She continued to watch him as he looked at her, trying her read her every expression as it appeared. "The RFA… they don't like me, Ray. I keep trying to play the game but they just won't let me breathe. I feel like I'm cornered every time I mess up."

Ray frowned. “Are they too stupid? Did they hurt your feelings? Do they make you feel horrible? I can't stand the thought of you feeling miserable.  I know they are terrible, Lila, I know. But you promised you would help me test my game and it hurts that you aren't trying.” 

"I want to help you, Ray…" 

His grip on her hand tightened. 

“I tried as much as I could to make something fun for you… but I see that it just wasn’t good enough now,” His chest was wracked with sobs as soon as he managed to speak again. Ray's eyes began to overflow with tears that he had tried to hold back.  “I should have worked two more hours back then instead of sleeping back then. Was I not good enough again? Did I fail again?”

She didn't want that. 

She hated when he felt awful. 

Why didn't she try harder to stomach the strange feelings? 

Lila shook her head, back and forth. "No, Ray. No. That's not it."  

Lila watched as his eyes darkened. She hasn't seen this look in his green eyes before, no, this was something entirely new to her. 

This was Ray… but something had changed in him. 

His gaze shifted from side to side before he looked back at her with narrowed eyes. He seemed to be thinking of an answer to his questions that he hadn't quite yet found. 

He nodded his head, humming. “Or… or was it those AI? Have they ruined this? Have they ruined your feelings because they hurt you? You’re not answering me. So, they must be the problem. I knew that they weren’t good enough. I didn’t think that they would be horrible enough to displease you like this. I knew it. I should have made them better from the start."

Lila shook her head, she opened her mouth to try and dispute that claim. It was not the fault of any specific person. She wasn't going to blame anyone. She was the one who hadn't put in all the effort as she should have done. 

She thought that she was doing alright. 

She thought very well that whatever was going to come next would certainly be alright as long as Ray was nearby and at her side. She had grown so very fond of him and she thought that he felt the same. 

Why was he speaking as though something grave had happened? 

"Tell me, Lila, which one is the problem?" he urged, as if that was the cure to fix all of this. "Tell me, please." 

“Jumin? No, he would be too busy worried about V. Then was it Zen? Surely he must have annoyed you with how much he shows off. I think that could be it. Or maybe it was Yoosung if it’s not Zen. The only word in his vocabulary is Rika and I’m sure that all of his whinings would have made you want to scream, right? Now that I really think about it, the whole lot of AI is rubbish. Not to forget, Jaehee and V keep suspecting you too.” Ray listed them all, noting each and every flaw that he had told her about in the past. 

Sure, they had their quirks and they weren't exactly perfect but that's what made them feel so real and alive. They had these real feelings and faults. Every instance felt as if it was genuine to them. Sure, she felt awful when they said things to her that made her feel like an outsider. 

Comparing her to Rika… 

Speaking as if they couldn't trust her… 

The game was made in such a way that they had to be wary, right?

Ray's tone became bitter all of a sudden, as he hissed the worst of them all. “Worst of all, that redhead keeps going on and on about how he was the one that made this game… wait a minute. Did you play the version that he made? Did you, Lila? Is that why you aren’t playing my game? You’re playing his instead? You wouldn’t, would you? Lila, there’s no way that you played his version. Mine is much more fun than his. It’s completely different than his trash!” 

His green eyes were wild with rage and he steamed like a hot kettle. His hands were on her shoulders and they dug into the fabric so hard that she could feel it against her collar bones. His breathing had quickened, and he seemed desperate. 

What happened to him?

Why was he speaking as though Seven was a real person? Seven wasn't real. He was just a character. Just like the rest of the RFA, right?

“Ray, I don’t understand. What do you mean his version? Seven isn’t a real person… how could he have his own…” 

Ray wasn't listening to a word that she was saying to him now. He just steamrolled right through her words and kept talking in a low voice. “Lila… you played his version, didn’t you? Please tell me you didn’t. If you even think that he’s better than me because of it… what am I supposed to do now? Agh! I feel like my head is going to explode right now. Lila, please think about it again. There’s no way that he’s better than me… there is no way that I’m no better than him…!” 

Lila reached up with her trembling fingers and pressed them against his forearms as she tried to regain control of his attention away from whatever he was feeling. 

He wouldn't budge and he wouldn't listen.

"Ray, please…"  

“I’ve been inspecting everything. All the logs. Every conversation. Every call. There is no record that exists of his version in my game… unless… unless he used… the other route at some point." He mused, aloud, and then suddenly he blinked as if something had just occurred to him. 

"Lila, you’re not thinking of meeting him behind my back, are you? You weren’t actually away from Magenta to see him, were you…? You know that I hate him. There’s no way you were seeing him… you know how I feel…” the tears still escaped from the corner of his eyes, although he didn't wipe them away. 

Every time he spot of Seven he would become angry and despondent. She never brought him up. She didn't mind that. She had trouble with people with a lot of energy like that, but he hated him. He hated this one character so much. 

Why?  

His fingers shook against her as he began to sound desperate. “Did I annoy you by any chance…? Were you annoyed with me? Or were you lonely because I didn’t drop by more? Was it something that I did? Something I didn't do? Why? Just why? I want to know why you chose him, not me…” 

Lila was starting to feel pretty damn hysterical. Her heart rate had quickened, and she should think about was trying to fix this mess. “Ray, I don’t know what you’re talking about. What are you saying? You’re talking as if Seven is a real person. He’s just a character in the game… You know that I like you more than some character! You're real, I'm real. He isn't!” 

That wasn't the answer he wanted. 

Ray looked away. “...Are you avoiding the answer, too? Do you think so little of me that you can't bear to break my heart? I’m so sad. My heart is tearing into pieces. I… I’m actually not as good as he is. I tried extra hard. So now I’m supposed to be a better hacker than he is… but is this just not good enough…? What was the problem? Is it impossible to hide my faults no matter how hard I try? I was so happy you came here. I thought that all I had to do from now on is to be happy." 

"Ray, I am happy-!" She stumbled over the words as she tried to say them so it came out a little jumbled and disjointed. "I love being with you- I don't understand what's wrong, did something happen? I've never said anything like that!" 

“I didn’t think I’d be so sad like this. I thought I’d be able to make you happy without a doubt… I really tried so hard. I thought you’d tell me that I’m better than him, that I’ve always been better than him… I’m so… so sad… it feels like the world is caving in." Ray closes his eyes for a brief moment as he sucks in a breath of air before looking into Lila's brown eyes. 

"Lila, you aren’t going to leave this place, are you? Are you going to leave me to join them?” he asked, nearly on the verge of losing his cool again. 

“Ray… I am not going to leave you!" Lila breathed, it was shallow and it was sharp against her lips. She had told him, she had said that she wanted to stay! "I never was going to leave you- I-" 

Ray pulled her in close for a hug and he held onto her so tightly that she thought may break into pieces as he clung to her. “Please don’t go, Lila. If you leave me… if you’re gone… I’ll never be able to get back onto my feet. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have you in my life. You have no idea how much this hurts… I was determined to keep you from agony… sorrow… all the pain of this world… but I was wrong. Those AI got to you and twisted you up." 

His voice was low in her ear as his heart rate began to swell. He lamented with a very heavy heart, “What am I supposed to do?” 

Lila isn't sure what to tell him. 

Is he asking her? Or himself? 

That's when Ray pulls away from her and allows her to meet his gaze. 

His green eyes are absolutely glowing in the dimly lit room, and as he cocks his head, he thinks he has found a resolution. Ray's tears have all but dried up now. “What should I do… to keep you from leaving me? Would you understand me if you were as sad as I am? The Savior once told me… that you can never feel happiness and joy unless you have first felt what sorrow and agony are like. I tried so hard. Why does everything always turn out like this?” 

Lila is… she's shaking where she's standing for some reason. It feels as though that something has changed in her Ray and this boy in front of her has simply shifted for reasons she can't identity. She can't look away from him. For as nervous and as scared as she is- 

She's charmed by his haunting gaze. 

Lila shivers as he hand rubs against her cheek in a delicate motion. His words betray what he is saying. “I’d hate to hurt you… but if that’s what is necessary for our sake. I’ll take it. I’ll consider it necessary for you and me.”

Lila's eyes widened. She goes to take a step back but she cannot. What does he mean by that and is it what it sounds like? Did he really just say that he would hurt her if he had to do it? 

He's watching as her lips part into a small "o" shape, and the very way she tries to instinctual protect herself. She's got a hold onto his hand again but it is very loose, and it may fall at any moment.

Lila looks at him, voice quiet.  “Ray…? What are you trying to do to me?” 

What was he going to do? 

What was he going to do with her now?

His gentle touch never waves. He cups her hand in both of his hands and forces her to look at him and only him. Ray seems suddenly enthralled by the desperation that flashes in her eyes. “...Are you expecting something? You look like you’re afraid… but also like you’re excited for something. I hope you’re excited. I’ve been working on this for a long time… You know, Lila, the moment that I started talking to you, I couldn’t take my eyes off of you. I wanted you to be my assistant if I could have one someday. But those AI… they ruined everything… they ruined you. I can fix this if you trust me."  

She closed her eyes but his voice is still ringing in her ears. 

This is no nightmare. 

This is really happening. 

Ray's gentle voice sounds so chilling. Chills run down her spine as he coaxes her to look at him once again, “I’ll correct everything one by one, starting with them. They'll never confuse you again as long as I'm with you, and then I’ll teach you the sorrow I’ve ever felt. Once you know that Then you can understand me…understand you... understand us… we're so very alike you and I. I only want you to depend upon me and me alone… I can help you, Lila. Please, trust in me to do what's best for you. You listened to me when nobody else would… I want to share paradise with you."

Her heart was beating loud in her ears.

What was she to do? She cared about Ray, she wanted to be with Ray, but what he wanted at this moment… what did he want to do with her? 

She couldn't just leave.  

She had no choice. 

“We can start the test all over again, that's not a problem. Let those AI hang out amongst themselves for a while, and you’ll stay with me. We’ll complete your eternal contract once you finally come to understand me, and our love. Then, we can start the game again.” 

When she opened her eyes, all she saw in Ray's once bright eyes was inevitable salvation. 

“My beloved, Lila. I will save you from the darkness.”

Hello, my lovely followers and readers! Ah, I'm so excited to announce that I am ALL OUT OF IDEAS!!!!

"Kaden," you say, "isn't that a bad thing? Don't writers NEED ideas to...y'know...write?!?!?!"

Well, if you did say that, you'd be correct! I need ideas - your ideas!!!

Of course, this only applies to a select few fandoms, which I'll list in a moment, but I'd first like to lay down a couple of statements.

While the ideas and prompts will be yours, all writing belongs to me. On the contrary, all mentioned characters, games, and stories are NOT mine unless I say so (please don't sue me).

I have the right to refuse or ignore a request if it breaks any of my rules (being: I don't write r*pe, p*dophilia, or anything of the sort, and I usually don't take requests for smut, since I suck at it. Other concerns may arise within your request, and, if so, I will mention it to you directly)

Fire Emblem (Binding Blade (only a few characters because I never actually finished it qwq), Blazing Blade, Sacred Stones, and original Heroes characters (e.g. Alfonse))

K-Pop (honestly, tho, probably just BTS. I'm into many other groups, but I don't exactly know so much about others as I do about them, weird as it sounds. And, on that note, I specialize in Hobi writing!!!)

Mystic Messenger (wowowowowowow this game???? wOw!!!! I've completed Zen, Jumin, Saeyoung, Saeran, and V's routes!!!! (And if I'm being honest, I don't really plan to do Jaehee and Yoosung's, so my writing for them won't be as good qwq) I've also gotten Zen, Jumin, and Saeyoung's Valentine and After Ending DLC, as well as the Forgive ending for V's After Ending (still waiting on Saeran's qwq))

Final Fantasy XV (wowowowowow THIS GAME I LOVE!!!!! Probably just the chocobros, because I never really focused on anything but the main quest until recently, so I don't know a whole ton about other characters, oops....)

Watch_Dogs 2 (I think I feel comfortable enough to write for Josh and Marcus, but I'd like to say I write best for Wrench, in my opinion. I would go on the safe side and say my writing for Marcus and Josh may not be...up to my personal standards. I wouldn't expect a lot from me about many other characters from the game, either....)

Fallout 3 and 4 (I am SO late to be adding these sksksksksksk but I will say, I completed (most of????) the main quests for both games, and I absolutely loved them!!!! I think I can write well for Butch, Gob, Valentine, Hancock, Sturges, Deacon, and possibly others if you request them, but no promises)

While you're free to request anything, I would so prefer it if you stayed within these fandoms and characters. I realize I'm really limiting the selection, but I know writing for a lot of other characters is going to make me put out sloppy, horrible writing, and I don't want to do that to you guys. I want to put my all into these, so that I can be proud of what I've done for all of you, who have loved my writing so much!

RFA + Another Story Reactingto MC who friend-zoned them

[Zen]

The shock and hurt in his face would be obvious for a few seconds before he changed his expression into an understanding one and would assure her not to worry about it.  

Being seen as a true friend was better than nothing…he guessed.

Except deep inside, he would be in lots of pain because not only was this the first time (probably) he was rejected but he loved MC so much.  

If not for him being a skilled actor, he would have broke down into a sobbing mess after she politely left their meeting spot.

MC would be surprised to see him acting normal in the chat rooms whenever she logged in except she would get the hint that he ain’t over her through his unintended flirting responses and subtle pickup lines and she’d feel bad about it. 

Whenever she privately asked him about it, he’d shrug it off and would quickly change the subject to a casual one.

This boi needed help with all the drinking and smoking he had been doing in a single day, a mountainous pile of beer cans and cigarette pacts had been consuming every single space in his apartment.

Eventually, he’d pull himself together after his depression stage and would do his very best to move on, for the sake of MC and their friendship.

[Yoosung]

If Zen had it bad, imagine how this cinnamon roll would react. Yoosung was one to take things personally negative towards terrible outcomes especially what happened to Rika…

He’d most likely run away right after hearing MC’s rejection to his confession. He’d hide in the nearest comfort area he could find if MC chased after him and he’d stay there, silently crying to himself and swinging his body like a cradle.

He’d avoid her at all costs, inside or outside the chat room with excuses like he had after-university club activities or he needed to study for an upcoming exam when in fact, he’d wrapped himself into a crying ball with his blanket or play LOLOL more aggressively to his teammates and his opponents’ disbelief.  

If this situation grew worse, Zen would offer his apartment to be a place where they forget their problems and whatnot. They’d drink to the point of no return but Yoosung would be the obvious one to easily get wasted and blabber about the pain of rejection and his denial over it.

Imagine Zen’s frustration in taking care of him and his apartment. Dragging Yoosung to his toilet and pat his back in comfort as Yoosung vomit. Ridding his apartment of empty bottles of Soju and cleaning up all the mess that was there. Putting Yoosung to sleep in his bed while he went to sleep on the floor, poor Zen.

After some time, Yoosung will come to accept the truth and move on. But he’ll probably be cold and distant towards MC for a year or two. He would try to swallow the bitter feeling of just being a friend and renew their friendship.

[Jaehee]

She expected this to become a possibility but the pain still hurt like hell and even knowing the rejection beforehand won’t lessen the pain.  

She’d be full of self-doubt and insecurities. She’d be lost in thought, wondering what she lacked in and would kind of blame her gender into this. Jaehee, there there.

Jaehee would politely leave the chat room whenever MC logged in with an excuse of not finishing her work yet and she’d do more work than anyone could accomplish even herself in a stable state to the point of Mr. Han applauding her and leaving it as it was. Jumin, you gotta help her somehow.

Once she finally calmed down, she’d try to approach MC bit by bit despite being uncomfortable with it. She’d eventually realize that things were better this way and come to terms with this.

Whether Jaehee buried her feelings to the grave or let go of them, she’ll still be the best friend that MC wanted and needed. Nothing will ever escape her notice and she’d help MC in anyway she can.

[Jumin]

Oh boy, if there was one thing he had not experienced his entire life: that would be rejection in both as a businessman and a person. He’d quickly feel sudden change from brief shock to denial, thinking that there must be something lacking in him that made MC reject him.

He’d find out whatever MC likes and dislikes by assigning Assistant Kang to do a thorough research on MC. Then he’ll change or add that aspect (be it appearance, qualities, or personality) in him to make MC like him more.

Only for him to be rejected once more and be placed in the friend zone. He’d be in complete confusion and frustration, obviously not understanding as to why he’d been rejected again when he worked hard to get her to like him more. He’ll probably lock himself in his penthouse and seek comfort from Elizabeth The 3rd for a short time leading a chaotic outcome in C&R.  

Until MC marched over to his penthouse and gave him ‘the talk’. Once he came to understand the aspects he never experienced before and sorted out his feelings, he’ll go back to his old self.  

Since his feelings for MC won’t go anytime soon, he’ll cover it up with his excessive generosity and kindness that would aid MC’s every need. She didn’t need to even ask and he’d do it with a snap of his fingers. After all, Jumin’s the MVP of all routes.

Despite his unwillingness to do so, he’ll settle down to being her best friend and be contented with it since that was the only closest relationship he can cherish to have with her. Of course that doesn’t mean he had given up yet and would be waiting in the sidelines until death called for him.

[707]

Ironic as it was to feel relieved when he got friend zoned by MC after his confession, the burden in his shoulders would be lifted with the thought of not having to danger MC in the future.

But there would be another part of him that would be full of anguish and loneliness that would persist to run wild which he would control behind his 707 facade.  

He would act like his usual happy, pretend self except with occasional slips of romantic jokes that took a dark turn and he’d immediately change the subject before MC noticed.  

He’d do his best to let go and accept her view of him as her friend but dang, how can something that was supposed to be simple so difficult? After all, he was an agent of a secret intelligence agency where life-threatening situations became a casual thing to him.  

He’d drown himself in Honey Buddha Chips and packages of Dr. Pepper to a point of a tummy ache. Vanderwood would have to step in if he wanted to keep one of the best hackers working for the agency. Vanderwood would forcibly pull Saeyoung together and get him to snap out of his denial state.  

It might take him half a decade to move on and go on with life as he was expected to. Getting along with MC would be difficult but not impossible, he would need baby steps for this.

[V]

Among them, Jihyun would be the most accepting about being friend zoned. Sure, he’d be quite depressed about it but this was something he’d understand. He still needed to learn on how to love himself before he can properly sort his feelings out and decide on this situation.  

Jumin would offer a drink at his penthouse as his silent way of comforting his best friend but he’d reject the offer and instead suggest a self-discovery journey himself.

While being on a journey to find his path and true self, he’d take notes on his feelings for MC and check his progress on whether he let go or not.

Once he had let go of his feelings, he’d tear out all the papers from his notebook, shred them to pieces in his gentle way, and let them fly in the sky. After all, he loved her enough to do this for her and move on.

He’d quickly adapt to his status as her dear friend and be that mother hen kind of friend who would both spoil her rotten and scold her firmly.

He’d be glad that nothing changed between them and he’d come to a realization that he didn’t need a romantic relationship to be this close to her.  

[Ray]

Saeran would not take rejection very well. Not after what they went through together and he had assumed that MC loved him in a romantic view as well. He’d be a ball of chaotic feelings, also Ray and the other Saeran would clash against him.  

MC would be shocked to see him going back and forth from sobbing while curling himself into a ball to a rampaging man who’s on a mission to destroy his surroundings while cursing MC for making him believe such lies and then vice versa.

Saeran would hold himself back before the situation got worse and lock himself in a room to calm down and think in peace.

Saeran won’t be able to sleep properly, crying himself to sleep and he wouldn’t touch any of the food tray MC placed in front of his door.  

Once he had calm down, he’d leave the room once in a while to tend his flowers and he would avoid MC as much as possible.  

It would take a lot of patience and effort on MC’s part to get Saeran to not avoid her like a plague and talk to her. Saeran won’t be able to understand at first and once he did, he’d be very chill about it but being formal towards MC won’t be avoided.

Saeran doesn’t like the idea of being just her friend but he’d go with the flow. He’d warm up to MC again after a long period of time in adjusting and accepting it.

The good ending. What if all the mystic Messenger characters got a good end?

So let's start this quickly. I feel like this should start between the Another story start and the main story start. Ray is also almost completely gone and Rika is getting worse mentally. You are MC and you start out like Another story. You find this app and Ray befriends you.

So we end this with a party, everyone from Vanderwood to Driver Kim will get a good ending. Basically, Rika gets the help she needs, Jumin deals with his dad and Elly, Yoosung becomes a good and able adult, 707 and Saeran become close, Jeahee gets her cafe, Zen is Zen, and V gets the trust of the RFA. But! As this is the best ending for all of them, you end this without anyone. Not even the bald son of the oil prince! Let's go!

So you get picked up and get told that the RFA is fake and Ray wants you to test out his "game". But this is where my story brakes. Rika sees how you treat Ray and how much Ray loves you being around. So Rika, not wanting Ray to be hurt by you, makes him take the potion and Saeran appears to make your life living hell. Rika sees how much you dislike this and taunts you. She brings up how easily you get attached to people like Ray and the RFA. Rika also tells you that the RFA are real people. This is where the story starts to make major changes.

Rika has logged on. Everyone was talking about how Zen was a a new play and got lead role. He even met a girl similar to him. The current chat is shocked. Yoosung is yelling, 707 is silent, Jumin is talking. Jeahee and Zen are unscathed by this first. Zen never had a real deep relationship with Rika, joining at V's request and Jeahee is just a slave to money. But this still doesn't stop them from listening to Rika first. Rika is lying to the group first, "It was V and this girl that tried to stop me! They were working together to get the info on the people!" They all stop trusting you right there because it's a girl they trust vs some random thot that just wanted a boyfriend.

All the while Searan is testing you as his toy and Rika is thinking of just letting you go. She does tell you something. "I have V you know? I found him looking for you. Might as well bring him to paradise." She says once. But you go look for him one night. You find him and tell him what's happening in the chat. No one trusts you two and stuff. You want to help them as does V. So V gives you information on the members of the RFA. Being that Zen is closer to V than Rika he tells you how they met and information on him. Here is the first major change to how the app works as far as I know. You talk to Zen through private messages. V tells you how you can't hack through those. What follows is a chat like any normal one in the main chat but in direct messages.

"How do you know this?" Zen asks you after telling him the stuff V told you. You explain more, tell him about Rika and accidentally slip about Searan, how told you that he was in fact 707's twin. Zen is with you, although reluctantly.

So this is Zen's good ending. He gets the first act in our little play and the lead role, many fans, and even a girlfriend at this point. But all of this while working with you. Together you work to get the rest of the RFA on your side. First Jeahee, the slave to money. She's easy as she is just an assistant, she knew Rika but that's it. She is also smart enough to see through and notice the inconsistencies in Rika's story. You also have Zen on your side and Jaehee has a bias towards him.

The rest will be harder. 707 sees V as his enemy and views Rika as a motherly figure. Jumin was close to Rika and was one of the few people he cared about. Yoosung's entire arc was about him getting over his love for Rika and how he put it on you. With Rika back, he nearly worships her as a god. Rika can do no wrong in Yoosung's eyes. But you get it through to 707 first.

This was a rush for 707. Rika is back? Of course V's bad, I will never trust him! Rawr! But you text him though DMs and tell him what you know. "Saeran is alive, V is stuck, I'm scared! Rika isn't who you think she is!" At first 707 doesn't trust you still. But he's smarter than Jaehee in some ways and takes note of the flaws in Rika's character. She isn't the same, even with what she told the RFA. How can she be completely the same yet also so different? He begins to trust you, reluctantly.

Jumin is also hard, but he was no Yoosung. He saw Rika as a really good friend and may have even had a crush on Rika. But this is a bigger role for V. You give him your phone, he logs onto the messenger, and they just talk it out. You don't know what they talked about but a story thing comes on after and it's a cat vent session. You have him near the end.

Yoosung is the hardest but V was demented to help him. So you do, you try that is. No matter what you say it doesn't help. But you move on, you have to.

So you and the RFA confront her, this is where the story makes it brakes. There are small brakes where you can't get them together, and you they won't be with you here. You can miss one but you need the rest(minus Yoosung) to get here. If you can't get them it's a bad ending, V dies, you get kicked off the messenger and the RFA force joins the Mint Eye. But the good end will be you get them all (minus Yoosung) to help you and confront Rika. Rika brakes and has Saeran take the chat over.

So what is left? You, Searan, Yoosung, and Rika are left. Rika is showing her full colors now, the Rika with the mental illness and a blurred view of right and wrong. She tries to get Yoosung to paradise. But Yoosung is conflicted. Why is his idol acting like this? Why is this girl acting more like Rika than Rika now? It takes some time but he gets to you. He finally snapped when Rika called him "a gamer loser with no life and no potential." Yoosung snaps at Rika and Rika doesn't like that. She kicks Yoosung out and he leaves the RFA for awhile. No one hears from him until near the end. (I'll get to that, it's important)

In an act of desperation and in trying to get one of the RFA she has one of her men from the Mint Eye steal Elly and brings in Jumin to the chat. This is where Jumin opens up. He opens up more than he did in his own route even. The person he sees in his cat, the purest of innocence, stole that same cat. No, "I'm sorry Rika. But you are not the person I thought you were." "No! You must join me! For eternal paradise!" "Give me my damn cat back or I will find you!" Rika sends a picture of Elly, threatening to feed her the potion. Jumin sends all his guards and spends as much money as possible to find this cat and Mint Eye. His dad asks him what he's doing and this is where they fix their relationship. They work together with Jeahee, 707, and Zen to raid the Mint Eye. All four of them go in, with Vanderwood (he can use a gun apparently and that's useful to agent 707) they find MC first. All theories are confirmed as they find a weak MC locked in a room on a seemingly abandoned part of the building. Jaehee helps you while 707, Vanderwood, Zen, and Jumin head deeper into Mint Eye.

The next breakaway happens here. Have you been good to Saeran? If you have, treating him similar to how you did in his route minus the lovey stuff, you're good. If not he will blow up the Mint Eye headquarters, killing everyone inside. You and Jaehee make it out but the rest aren't as lucky. If you are good the final Saeran will appear at the end, still bitter at Saeyoung and V but willing to help them. They go deeper and find Elly in a cage with a note. Rika has V and if they don't join mint eye and help her. They get locked in the cell by a rogue Mint Eye member and get stuck. All while you take away from the camp and find her.

You confront her quickly. You find her and V outside of the headquarters in the garden. But you run across someone else hidden in the chaos of people taking in Mint Eye members. Yoosung is there and he wants to help, he had the determined look that he did when he was about to go with Seven to the headquarters in his part. Another break off point and the final one at that. If you were nice to Yoosung and treated him better than Rika did you get him, if you don't he doesn't come and Rika doesn't stop for you and shots V and herself. But you did so Yoosung and you go to the garden to find a weak V and trembling Rika. Rika has a gun pointed at V.

"Rika! Why are you doing this?" Yoosung yelled. He runs up to hug Rika, how then drops her gun, falling to the ground in tears. She was scared but her cousin Yoosung is only here to help. He still sees the best in her. No matter what she did. V tells you that she took a lot of the potion before this and needs help quickly. You take her away and Yoosung helps her up and gets her help. V thanks you and walks off. He doesn't get seen for awhile after that. He pulls that same shit he did at the end of his route.

So this is the end of the main story. There's an after story. Rika gets proper help, same with Saeran and V. The party gets held. Everyone is ok, Jumin is even a better boss after talking with his dad and helping everyone in front line. He allows Jaehee freedom to do as she wishes and she starts a big passion project on coffee and opens a Coffee shop in all of Jumin Han's building. She becomes head of that. The RFA, now with a full roster made of Zen(famous actor with an equally as famous girlfriend), Saeyoung and Saeran(best bros though time), V(back after a trip of discovery), Rika(Currently getting help), Yoosung(I kind of want to give him a boyfriend for no other reason than this is my story. Like some cute guy he met through LOLOL.), Jaehee(head of a popular coffee company and in a relationship with a girl from another coffee company), Jumin(a good boss of his company and a bit more opened up. He has a wife even.), Vanderwood(Jumin's head maid), and MC (single and happy with where she is.) are up for anything. They're running parties for charity and no connection with that one Mr. Choi dude, whoever that is.

I know I left some stuff vague and shit, like how do we work in Jaehee? I feel like this is the perfect thing for me. Perhaps 707 and Vanderwood end up going rogue and are forced to quit the agency. Maybe Driver Kim quits and takes up racing? Will Echo Girl die? That'd be a good ending. Jaehee is still bisexual queen though.

MC wouldn't have told them about him/her since she know/knew (they might have spent years without seeing each other) the stalker. Zen:

At first he thought you guys were just being followed by a paparazzi, posing for them even because he doesn’t mind the press.

Once he realizes that the person isn’t carrying a camera and tries.to hide as.Zen turns back to look at him, he feels a lot more uncomfortable.

Zen leads you down an alley, slowing as he hears the steps.coming closer.

He’d intentionally given the stalker an opening to attack you, turning to punch him square in the face when he hears he’s close enough.“Leave us alone.”

Our albino love knows.plenty about fighting, thanks to his time in the motorcycle gang.

His eyes are practically.glowing red, so he looks pretty terrifying.Consider your stalker scared away.

Jaehee:

She had been watching the young man who kept sitting in the corner of your cafe every day until closing, noting the way he looked at you all the time.

When you head out one night after locking up the cafe, Jaehee is particularly feeling on edge, and rightfully.so.

As a hand closes over your arm, Jaehee reacts automatically, using her judo skills to flatten your stalker onto his back.

She puts her hand on her racing heart, brain catching up to the events before making a quick decision.

The appropriate action was to call the police, obviously.

Jumin:

Your stalker has been noticed by the bodyguards, and they give Jumin a report on the matter.

He rests his fingertips together as he thinks before suggesting that the man be brought to him by whatever legal means necessary.

You’ll never know about the stalker you had, thanks to the threats Jumin gives the man at their secret meeting arranged by his bodyguards.

Vanderwood:

Someone has been following the two of you for the past three blocks.

His eyes are constantly scanning, senses flaring out, but he seems completely calm on the surface.

He doesn’t want to use you as bait, and the best way to do this is to confront the man directly.

Stopping in his tracks, he bends to give you a quick kiss, “Wait here, MC.”

Vanderwood walks away from you, leaving you confused, but he walks straight in the direction of your stalker, making it just past the man before he grabs the back of his collar and pulls him into an alley, pressing his taser into the man’s neck.

“You leave my girlfriend alone, you got that? I’ll kill you.” You might want to stop him before he actually does.

Seven:

He’s not nearly as hyper aware as his maid, but he’s not so bad, and when he keeps seeing the same person over and over again while you’re out, he gets a bad feeling.

Seven convinces you to let him take a picture of you, and you question why he’s tilting the camera funny, but he’s actually getting a good shot of the guy who’s been following you.

As he sends it to a face recognition program, Seven just puts an arm around you, waiting for the eventual potential matches.

Once he gets the results, he stops the two of you, grabs your hand, and pulls you right to the guy who was too shocked by the sudden change of direction to run off.

“So, are you Chunyoo, Saehyun, or Jun?” The question throws him off, especially since one of those names was correct, and that’s enough to have him babbling something and taking off.

Yoosung:

He doesn’t like that every time you’re at school with him, this classmate of his is watching you all the time.

It’s not like him to go confrontational, but his precious girl is getting eyed.

Yoosung won’t lose you.

One day after class, he approaches the other’s seat and slams his hands down on it, locking his oddly dark gaze on the offending male. “Stay away from my precious girl.”

It’s a little like looking at an angry ball of floof, but somehow it’s more terrifying when people who usually don’t talk aggressively and seem so sweet are angry as all Hell and glaring at you.

V:

You’ve been texting since V is about to return, and he’s mildly concerned by the person you’ve been telling him about who’s always following you around.

When he returns from his self-realization trip, he tries to get a good look at the person whenever he can, deciding that you were right and they really are following you.

Rather than dealing with the person directly, he decides to speak with his best friend Jumin, who, of course, assigns bodyguards - despite V claiming that the two of you don’t need them.

The bodyguards scare the stalker away, though, so guess you kinda needed them after all?

Saeran:

Every time he sees that person’s face, his paranoia acts up, making him snap the rubber band on his wrist that his therapist had had him start using.

By the end of your date, his wrist is completely raw…so maybe…maybe it wasn’t just paranoia.

Saeran counts the number of times he sees the man on your next date - 34 That’s way too high of a number.

He activates an app on his phone, built to connect to any phone within a 10-foot radius and walks with you into a less crowded area, so he can pick between yours and the stranger’s cell before going back into a more populated area.

You’re wondering what he’s doing on his phone, but he just keeps messaging.

`You should leave. I know you’re watching us, and now I know your phone number.`

A few replies after asking who he was and Saeran saying, `the one holding her hand`, the guy was apologizing and running off, frightened by the takeover of his phone.

My thoughts on Ray’s route

Under the cut so people don’t accidentally see spoilers! In this I’ll be talking about the good and normal endings.

So I just finished the good and normal endings for Ray’s route, and I have some thoughts. (spoiler: I didn’t like the route)

Rika and V

They got back together. They. Got. Back. Together? Maybe it could have worked if it had been done well, but this:

is the opposite of a good thing. It happens on day 10, and it very much feels like it was suddenly thrown in to make the plot progress or make it more interesting. But the thing is, it didn’t even do that? It was just confusing. Is V tricking her so that he can try and fix things? Because a) I can’t see how any of this could possibly help when by this point Saeran and MC have already escaped from Mint Eye, and b) encouraging her mental illness is literally not going to solve anything at all.

Rika’s not a good character (far from it), but V isn’t helping. At all. I can’t even see how he could possibly think this would help.

And if he’s not tricking her, then that’s just fucked up. He knows she’s torturing and hurting people, and all he’s doing right now is enabling her.

Lack of Jaehee content

I loved that the first person who talks to you and calls you after the messenger is restored is Jaehee, but I hated that she had no CGs. I know lots of people have already addressed this issue, but god I wish there had been more of her. I get that the route isn’t centred around her, but I feel like she constantly gets pushed to the side in every single route.

Saeyoung (good ending)

What the hell happens to him? He goes missing, and then as a player you expect some kind of closure when you reach the ‘party’, but there’s nothing. They don’t find him and they don’t even really have any leads. I understand that the after ending will probably address this, but right now I feel completely unsatisfied. In the endings for other routes, there is always some kind of closure, but in this one there’s nothing. Why?

Because Saeyoung would get in the way of Saeran x MC.

If you follow me or know anything about me at all, chances are you already know I headcanon Saeran as gay. I still stand by that because I didn’t really feel much genuine romantic chemistry between them, even in the good end. Throughout the route it was obsession, which would have been fine if it has developed beyond that, but it didn’t. Saeran (in my opinion) is still overly dependent on MC, and if she ended up leaving him (which, yeah I know she wouldn’t because this is an otome game) he would have nothing to fall back on. 

That’s why he needs Saeyoung.

But he wasn’t written into the good ending. Sure, they were looking for him, but he wasn’t there to help Saeran recover and fix things. I think this was done because that would have taken attention away from Saeran x MC. It was easier to just write Saeyoung off as ‘missing’ and not have to focus on the Choi twins mending their relationship. It’s purely lazy writing. In Saeyoung’s route, the secret endings gave time for the twins to properly heal together, but cramming all this into 11 days is unrealistic (again, I’m aware this is a game. I’m just saying).

Perhaps I’ll take all this back when the after ending is released, but honestly I feel like the Chois need to heal together before either of them can fully commit to a relationship (which is what happened with Saeyoung in the secret endings! He always put Saeran first!)

Saeyoung (normal ending)

I understand that this ending isn’t supposed to fix everything, but I’m mad about it for many of the same reasons I’m mad about the good ending. Saeran just... gives up. His plan doesn’t work, so he gives up looking for Saeyoung and he runs away with MC to some island Jumin gives them (which is... what?)

I guess this ending is kind of similar to Saeyoung’s normal ending, but at least that’s left ambiguous. I’m not sure if they continued looking for Saeran or if they gave up, but all I know is that it was written much better than Saeran’s normal ending.

Highlights of the route

On a more positive note, here are some of the things I did like about the route.

Yoosung and Zen’s relationship - I loved that they hung out so much! It was adorable.

Saeran after his cleansing - I know the way he was acting was unhealthy, but it was one of the only parts of the plot I found exciting rather than disappointing.

Other than the final few days, V was actually being helpful (which... he didn’t really do at all in other routes). He was communicating with other members and trying to help actually solve things for most of it.

The CGs - I have to admit, they were all gorgeous.

And that’s my hot take! Now it’s time to do the bad ends...
