Claire’s crying. She’s rarely interacted with dogs in the past, and as such, the girl has always been a little wary of them.

To be flat out attacked by some unleashed mutt on her way to the convenience store, then, with her parents and grandfather at home, neither knowing nor caring about her whereabouts ...

Pain and fear alike cause her tears, and she was thoroughly convinced she’d die, but a good Samaritan has saved her.

“Thank - Thank you -” she manages, but Claire can do or say little more, other than saying how much pain she’s in.

“It - It really - h-hurts, Mister - What - do - I - do-”

“Woah-Woahwoahwoah! Hey! GIT! GO!”

Just like that, a man was rushing to the child’s aid after a particularly nasty dog was trying to latch onto the poor girl’s arm.

Phil stomped over, baring his teeth and waving his arms in attempt to scare the mongrel off. He’d give it a whooping if he had to.

“GIT! GO HOME!” 

He snapped harshly, sending a protective kick in the creature’s direction.

Sure enough, the aggressive mutt went running for the hills. Phil remained stiffly upright, glaring the dog down before finally turning to the victim on the ground, his fierce gaze immediately softening.

“Ah, shit- I mean- Are you okay? Agh, no, you’re not-” The man sucked in through his teeth gently, slowly kneeling to inspect the damage and check in with the child.
