Somewhat late for ur requests for asks: favorite productions of rtc and why? Doesnt have to be THE one; just ones that stuck with u for whatever reason
Omg, I have so many faves
Stageworks is probably the most special to me, I drove two hours to see it on three separate occasions between two runs. Their interpretation of Ricky was one of my favorites ever, they really did his character justice which is important to me given how much has been taken away from his character over the years. They also had one of my favorite Mischas, his facial expressions and body language just really sold him as an angry bad boy, sometimes the way he'd look out into the audience I felt for a second like he and I were about to get into a scrap lol. But then at certain moments all of a sudden all that anger and hardness would melt away and he was just a big softy. I got to stagedoor afterwards at all three shows I went to and the whole cast was so wonderful and friendly. Here's a couple photos:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I once saw a lesser known production also in northern NJ at the Villagers Theater. I only saw this one once so I don't remember as much, however I do remember that:
-In WTWN Ocean busted through a banner like at a football game
-In Noel's Lament Noel was giving lap dances to people in the front row, as well he literally pulled out a poem written on a small piece of paper and burned it with an actual lighter. Bruh he put his whole Noel-ussy into it
-Their Karnak was freaking awesome!! Here's him reading my fortune:
Some other faves I haven't seen live but enjoyed slime tutorials for were: Fed's Backyard Theater, ESU, and Majestic Rep!! Mostly I just enjoyed them for the various ways the characters were portrayed and the effects were achieved (like Ricky riding onto the stage on a giant space laser in the ESU version absolutely sent me, and everyone getting to say an individual goodbye to Jane at the end of Fed's and then Virgil taking her hand and walking her to the other side had me tearing up)

hi i had a couple music related questions if you have the time
what's your favorite song
favorite album and albums you listen to often
favorite musician/band/artist and which musicians/bands/artists you listen to
favorite genre of music and what genres you listen to
song you listen to when you're happy
song you listen to when you're sad
song you listen to when you're angry
song you listen to when you feel empty
favorite cover of a song
song you only like for one or two specific parts
favorite song with no words
favorite song from a show
favorite song from a movie
favorite song from a musical
origin story of how you started liking a song
song you can listen to on repeat for hours
song you used to love but don't like anymore and the reason why
song you've listened to for the longest amount of time in one sitting
three song recommendations of different genres
most recent song you listened to
This is always subject to change but probably Finale from Hazbin Hotel
My favorite album is definitely the Mean Girls Broadway Cast Recording; albums I listen to a lot are Falsettos soundtrack, Hazbin Hotel soundtrack, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, and the Undertale OST
My fave band is Lovejoy and my favorite artist is Will Wood; artists I listen to are Cavetown, Goreshit, girl in red, Tally Hall, Conan Gray, TV Girl, MARINA, Femtanyl, Chappell Roan, and Will Wood and the Tapeworms
My favorite genre is indie rock; I mainly like musical theater, dubstep, electroswing, hyperpop, and pretty much anything indie
The Cult of Dionysus by The Orion Experience
Howl by The Family Crest or Dancing With Your Ghost by Sasha Alex Sloan
Two Birds by Regina Spektor
Dead Man by Self
Oh goddddd I love this question!! 100% the song She Used to Be Mine by Sara Bareilles covered by Lucy Hall [link]
Front Street by Will Wood and the Tapeworms
Spider Dance by Toby Fox
キラキラの灰 by Regal Lily from Dungeon Meshi
Under Our Spell from Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks
Noel's Lament from Ride The Cyclone
This morning, I was having trouble with math (as usual) and I bribed my friend Logan to give me the answers to the worksheet if I listened to a song of his choosing. Now, Logan's tastes are a little eccentric, and his playlists consist of a mix of the Undertale OST and Japanese imperial marches. But I let him look up a song on my computer and instead of Battotai (an imperial Japanese army march), he played Notion by The Rare Occasions. And I loved it. So now it's on my liked songs. Thanks Logan!
credits song for my death by vivivivivi
Consequences by Lovejoy because I used to love it for just the song in general. But now it makes me kind of sad because of everything Wilbur Soot did and how horrible the abuse was. I hate thinking about it. Support Shubble <3
I'll Look Good When I'm Sober by Lovejoy (it was the only thing I listened to for six days starting when it came out)
Three songs I'd recommend are Your Obedient Servant from Hamilton, Dance Magic from Equestria Girls: Specials, and Devil Town by Cavetown (also My Kink is Karma by Chappell Roan because I wanted to add a fourth. Just like in math class, I'm a flipping cheater)
Naked In Manhattan by Chappell Roan

Also, because I have nothing better to do with my life, here are the song inspos for my Bloodweave BG3 fic Ancient Books and Horror Stories title and chapter titles!
Mostly I pick them because of particular lines I like in songs that embody what I’m trying to write. Almost all my fanfics have song titles as their titles because I’m terrible with and get very stressed out about titles! Yay!
Songs beneath the cut to save people’s screens. I don’t think there’s any spoilers included for the fic if you’re a reader who wants to check these out.
I am apparently just very bored and feeling particularly introspective today. And also in a wildly yappy mood.
Oh, well! ┐(´∀`)┌
Fic Title: Ancient Books and Horror Stories - Big Houses by Squalloscope
Heard this one originally on the podcast Welcome to Night Vale. It’s the weather for, I believe, episode 33. I’m not caught up on Night Vale, tho I did an actually get to meet Cecil Baldwin and Joseph Fink at one of their first live shows back in 2013. I even got a pic with them and an autograph and they are so beyond fucking nice. I fucking love their show and them.
This song ended up working better than I thought for the fic as a whole and I love it so much.
Chapter One: Why did it have to be me? from the Mamma Mia 2 Soundtrack. I’m sorry I’ve only ever really experienced ABBA through covers, please forgive. (ಥ﹏ಥ)
I struggled with this chapter title because it was originally gonna be “Ancient Books and Horror Stories” before I realized I wanted that to be the actual title. I like it tho! A little more upbeat than I necessarily wanted this chapter to feel, but captures the “helplessness” of falling in love with someone haha.
Chapter Two: All I Know is I Don’t Know a Thing - Dust and Ashes from The Great Comet of 1812 Musical
I fucking love The Great Comet of 1812. Hands down one of my fave musicals of all time. I am NOT IMMUNE to Josh Groban’s wiles.
I feel like Gale and Pierre have a lot in common, both being nice scholarly types who long for connection and a Great Love™.
Chapter Three: For I Sing Songs Until the Break of Dawn - Noel’s Lament from Ride the Cyclone
Not as familiar with this musical but love a few of the songs from it. Felt Noel envisioning himself as a sex worker really fit with how Astarion sort of views himself. Y’know minus the part of actually wanting to “be that fucked up girl.”
Chapter Four: This bottle of light from the sun - Calling the Moon by Dar Williams
I think this was actually an accident, oops. I was looking up the lyrics for Call on the Moon by D’Anna Stewart because I really liked it on the First Kill soundtrack (LET’S GO LESBIAN VAMPIRE LOVE STORY). I don’t know if I’ve ever heard the first song prior to me trying to find the lyrics again for this. OH WELL, still like the chapter title.
Chapter Five: Lucky to have what's left of your sanity - Digital Hallucination by OR3O
Spotify recommended this to me and it is a BANGER! Love OR30’s music in general (my fave is Greedy) even though I’m not super familiar with her inspiration for most of them. OR3O was the start of my descent into Electroswing, I fear, but damn if I’m not loving every minute of it.
Chapter Six: Give me one reason why I should live - I Imagine You’re Upset from Bat Boy
My bff in high school introduced me to the Bat Boy soundtrack. I thought she was joking at first. But here I am, still listening to it and loving it all these years later. Yay more vampire related inspo! Can you tell I like vampires?
Chapter Seven: A Hunger So Strong - Comfort and Joy from Bat Boy
MORE BAT BOY?! It’s more likely than you’d think!
Chapter Eight: Shared our Tears and Shed Our Sorrows - Stay, I Pray You from Anastasia
This is the result of me mishearing the actual lyrics of “shed our tears and shared our sorrows” and fucking loving the twist of expectations. OH WELL. More oopsies on my part. BUT I REGRET NOTHING.
Chapter Nine: I should be fine but it's all too much - Overwhelmed by Royal & the Serpent
Damn if this song doesn’t speak to my anxious ass OCD having self.
Chapter Ten: Sink your fangs into my soul - Hold Me, Bat Boy from Bat Boy
Uhhh only just now reading how many chapter titles are from Bat Boy. This was not intentional. WHOOPS.
Chapter Eleven: The Pretty Lies, the Ugly Truth - Teen Idle by Marina and the Diamonds
This group was introduced to my bff who used to listen to them a lot while I was riding in her car with her.
Chapter Twelve: How can nothing seem to last - This Too Shall Pass by Danny Schmidt
Heyyyy!!! More Night Vale weather! This time from episode eight! I started relistening to the podcast recently as well as their after show (this one included the weather artist) and came to really love this song.
Chapter Thirteen: Under a gathering storm - A Gathering Storm from Hadestown
Fucking LOVE the music from this musical. Yay Greek mythology too!!! Only been obsessed with that since I was I a literal child. Hermes has always been my fave, which is why I gravitate towards rogues/thieves in BG3 (coughAstarioncoughmyTavcough).
This may have actually begun my descent into Jazz related music and thereby Electroswing… And then Hazbin Hotel attacked…
Actually got to see this musical in person and loved every minute of it! Tho I’d suggest maybe knowing how the story of Orpheus and Eurydice plays out before going. Was with some friends who DID NOT and were a bit upset at the ending, haha.
Hmm. I’m sure there’s no parallels to that myth and this fanfic AT ALL.
Chapter Fourteen: Hoping you will ever find me in any place - The World from .hack//sign
Got into this anime around middle school/high school (can’t remember which) and fell in love with Yuki Kajiura’s music. Still listen to a bunch of songs from the .hack//sign soundtracks and used to actually own the CD haha. Really need to sit down and rewatch the anime it at some point.
…also just found out she composed some of the music for Demon Slayer and Aldnoah.Zero too. God she’s fucking amazing.
Chapter Fifteen: And they'll teach you not to pray to light - This Too Shall Pass by Danny Schmidt
LOOK WHO’S BACK. Didn’t realize I used this song twice but IF IT FITS!
Chapter Sixteen: At least then I would be free instead of frozen - I Think You’re the Devil by Ellee Duke
The vampire lesbian romance from First Kill is BACK BABY! And this time I didn’t confuse the song for a different one! Yay! Fucking obsessed with this song tho. Love so much of that soundtrack in general tbh.
Chapter Seventeen: I have Died only to Find I’ve Come Alive - Teen Idle by Marina and the Diamonds
Ayyy look who’s back! Another unintentional repeat but OH WELL. Apparently I have no self control. This is going to be part one of the two part epilogue!
Chapter Eighteen: Trees Instead of Gravestones - Big Houses by Squalloscope
And the only INTENTIONAL repeat in this whole thing is *drumroll* Big Houses!!! This is for part two of the two part epilogue!
Felt very fitting to “start” and end the fic with the same song. It’s also not lost on me that the song is kind of about dealing with religious trauma and embracing your spirituality your own way.
Between this and This Too Shall Pass, one might think there may be “complicated relationship with spirituality” undertones to this fic! Definitely couldn’t be inspired by me growing up in the Bible Belt! No siree!
Anyway, if you read this far, kudos to you! And if you check out any of the music, I hope you like it!
Did not intend to steal from so many vampire related songs, but OH WELL.
I literally went through my Spotify playlists looking up lyrics for songs I liked that I thought might fit and put the snippets I liked in a notes doc with no added context. So yeah, serendipity lol. Genuinely the only one I actually meant to use twice was Big Houses. Dunno how the rest of those repeats snuck in.
So, ahem, can you tell I fucking love musicals???

I'm alive. Again.
Since I'm gonna di this "forgetting Tumblr exists" often, let's just make this a series.
How about...
Artsy's Life Updates
So, where have I been?
I've been active a lot on the Cookie Run: Together server by RoyalMike
Joined a contest and will be showcasing it in my Cookie Run OCs blog @artsysotherocs
Also made a few redesigns and a BUNCH of expression sprites.
Watched the slime tutorials for Six The Musical and Ride the Cyclone.
My faves for Six are the Broadway versions of Heart of Stone and All You Wanna Do and, of course, Haus of Holbein. Abby Mueller's Heart of Stone really improves the song for me, especially with the way she belts out. She definitely reinforces the Adele queenspiration. Samantha Pauly's performance makes All You Wanna Do and its lyrics even more impactful. As a theatre kid, her acting is what I love. Haus of Holbein is overall just a fun song to sing and dance to lol.
My faves for Ride the Cyclone are Noel's Lament and Ballad of Jane Doe (and I'm certain those two songs are the most liked ones but I could be wrong-). The way Kholby Wardell plays the character Noel is just so fun to see. I often repeat the ending part of the song because it's just so good. Emily Rohm's opera-like performance as Jane Doe is already amazing, but the fact she did a part of that HANGING IN THE AIR AND SPINNING UPSIDE DOWN- I love this woman (non-romantically), real.
Been expanding more on World Plague lore, but I'm unsure if I'm ready to share it or not.
We'll see in @artsysworldplague 👀
For the first time in my life, I got what I think is dyshidrosis. It's tame so far but I'm gonna put this here just in case. No need to worry about me right now.
I got one week left before I have to go back to school as a 12th grader. That's something I guess lol.
Yeah that's all. We'll see when's the next time I'll forget this app exists-

happy one week until eurovision!!!! as promised, here's my "rtc characters' fave (or the characters as) eurovision 2023 songs". also i'm not going to give mischa ukraine and noel france automatically (even tho mischa would love heart of steel and noel would love evidemment) that's a cop out to me. enjoy my trash takes :)
mischa: cha cha cha - the Contrast between a hypermasculine persona in the first half and a more genuine and expressive second half? cha cha cha + tsia/talia. also respective fandom reactions. y'all. parallel. but also he would enjoy aijā, i reckon. it's so musically complex and i am sure sure that that's his energy. rap man himself.
noel: who the hell is edgar? - could this suit mischa too? yep. anyway. look the way i see it is that noel is very creative (he wants to be a poet) and the character of monique functions in a similar to edgar for teya and salena's personas in wthie. to *me*. and also he's an anti-capitalist (0.003) because ocean is pro-capitalist. and taco bell. also like the vibe of the song??? like the red lighting?? little bit noel's lament reminiscent.
ricky: mama šč! - watch the performance and tell me it's not something mx. richard ky potts would love. exactly. also samo mi se spava. you know.
constance: my sister's crown - Women Supporting Women. i think she enjoys how it's got the rap (remember from tsia she is a rap ally) and unity and girls and culture!!! just... Vibes. also, power because it has sugar cloud vibes to me and i think the songs in the show relate to the characters' tastes. could i also give her unicorn? yes. anyway-
penny: dance (our own party) - she likes boy bands and also i believe in saxophone supporter penny. also... breaking my heart. she is WEAK.
ocean: queen of the kings - i know for a fact that ocean loves the most basic sounding songs (not that qotk is necessarily basic but like yk). HER name is SHE queen of the kings!!! she views herself as the subject of the song but also constance??? it's unclear. surely she'd also love tattoo and instead i wrote a song. why does she only really like the "female diva" songs? she is not answering questions at this time.
bonus
jane: samo mi se spava - girl needs to "wake up" fr
talia: soarele și luna - this is because solovey talia. real.

all good choices on your end! For me it’s Noel’s Lament but What The World Needs is a close second!!! (And I admittedly listen to This Song Is Awesome way more than I probably should as well)
oh w about fave rtc character??
you have good taste!!
as for my favourite rtc character, i’d have to say it’s ocean. she reminds me of myself when i was younger and i feel for her. i want nothing but the best for her but i also want to see her suffer. i could go more in depth, but alas, my analysis of ocean is probably a little too intense for a first conversation.
what about you?

MONTHLY MEDIA: March 2020
So like most of you, this month has seen more time spent at home consuming things. Now, more than ever, I think it’s good to share what we’re doing and seeing and hearing. Here’s how March went.
……….FILM……….
Tumblr media
The Invisible Man (2020) Stressfully fantastic. I was relieved when it was more of a thriller/suspense sorta film (as opposed to straight horror) and hoboy does it deliver on making everything tense. Well-acted and relevant. Also very stressful.
The Muppet Movie (1979) First time seeing this and it holds up. I would say I recognized maybe 5 of the celebrities that were featured, but could easily tell when someone was supposed to be a familiar face. Man fame is a weird thing. Anyway, the songs and origin story were lovely and I really think what works about the muppets are their blend of absurdity and sincerity. Sure they snark each other sometimes, but their general motivation is to put some good in the world and I think that’s a great addition to our media diet.
Tumblr media
Jenny Slate: Stage Fright (2019) This is the first of Jenny Slate’s specials that I’ve seen and it was a lot of fun! The interweaving of home videos, interviews with family, and her stand-up added an extra layer to everything. Oh also very funny!
Black Christmas (2019) We missed this in theatres and were anxiously waiting for the blu-ray release and...I think that built up too much anticipation. I’m all for what the movie was trying to say, but how it said it was muddled. It also managed to be fairly boring for 2/3 of the runtime. Bummer.
……….TELEVISION……….
Tumblr media
Love is Blind (Episode 1.01 to 1.02) We’ve barely started this and I wasn’t sure about it during the first ep, but knowing the series quickly moves past the blind dating is reassuring. Very keen to see how this all plays out.
McMillion$ (Episode 1.01 to 1.03) I know there’s a far more popular (and tiger-centric) docuseries in the zeitgeist right now, but I’m really enjoying this. They limit the insane FBI agent after the first episode, and it’s the right call. It’s true crime that we can all relate to via the McDonald’s element, and for that alone I think it’s worth checking out.
Locke & Key (Episode 1.01 to 1.10) Wonderfully whimsical. The last two episodes have some questionable writing that really only stands out because the previous 8 were so strong, but I suppose part of that is likely due to setting up a second season? I dunno. It did make me interested in returning to the series (as the first volume didn’t click with me) so that’s saying something.
What We Do in the Shadows (Episode 1.08 to 1.10) Consistently strong season of television! It’s refreshing to watch something where each episode works on it’s own, while still offering lots of through-lines across episodes. Also that finale gave us lots to get excited for with the next season! Very very good series.
The Bachelor (Episode 24.10 to 24.12) What a dud. This season ended the way it started and that really makes one question why they watched it at all? It certainly wasn’t for the beautiful friendships formed between contestants. It wasn’t for the deep and meaningful conversations while the lead tried to find true love. It wasn’t even for the genuine drama about silly things. It all just felt overproduced and undercooked. Such a bummer.
……….READING……….
Tumblr media
Witches Abroad by Terry Pratchett (Complete) I love a good Discworld novel (this being number 12!) It’s like comfort food in these complex times. The Witches are always fun and I really picture the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus and that adds another layer to things. If you’re looking for light, humours fantasy chock full of tropes, check out this series.
The Incal by Alejandro Jodorowsky and Jean Giraud (Complete) After having read this just once and barely remembering it, I decided to come back to it. I still find it a little wordy, but the overall plot is so operatic and psychedelic that I’m glad I gave it a reread. It feels 70s future in a way that I can’t describe, and I can totally see why Jodorowsky wanted to direct DUNE. This is political and weird and has everything he couldn’t make happen with that movie. Anyway, it’s worth picking up.
Tumblr media
The Sleeper and the Spindle by Neil Gaiman and Chris Riddell (Complete) A wonderfully illustrated short story. Enough of Sleeping Beauty and Snow White has been changed and merged to make it a fresh interpretation and Gaiman finds a good balance of creepy and all-ages appropriate.
……….AUDIO……….
Tumblr media
Twin Temple (Bring You Their Signature Sound.... Satanic Doo-Wop) by Twin Temple (2018) A lot of folks have been posting their fave listening online while we all quarantine and it’s introduced me to so much (including this)! The title says it all and “Satanic Doo-Wop” perfectly encapsulates their sound.
OOZEFM (Spotify Account) I’ve started a dedicated Spotify account for Booburgh’s radio station, OOZEFM. Curated playlists abound and I hope you enjoy!
……….GAMING……….
Tumblr media
Neverland: A Storybook Campaign Setting (Andrews McMeel Publishing) My RPG setting! The ongoing campaign is continuing along well as the group spends more time in the mountains while waiting to find a fallen star. They’ve also come across a few pirates, so that’s also fun. I also ran a  one-shot with the Mof1 Podcast that you can listen to here (well, the first half)!
A Red & Pleasant Land (Lamentations of the Flame Princess) The group continues to explore the dual towers and after killing an egg man, rescuing a spider, and fireballing a bunch of the King’s court, they’ve been presented with a choice: door #1 or door #2.
Tumblr media
Celeste (Matt Thorson and Noel Berry) Such a beautiful game. The controls and concept are so perfect and each new stage offers something fresh. I wish those stages were broken up into smaller chapters, as I’d be more likely to revisit if I didn’t have to commit to the whole thing at once, but I’m splitting hairs at this point. Absolutely check this out.
Wilmot’s Warehouse (Finji) Wonderfully relaxing and exactly as the trailer describes: for people who love to organize things. The stress of getting deliveries/getting items to customers is balanced by stretches of free time where you can rearrange and organize your supplies at your leisure. I’m about 60% of the way through and find not much has evolved. I don’t know if I’ll finish it but I’ve really enjoyed the time spent with it so far.
And that’s it! As always, share any recommendos and stay safe out there.
Happy Tuesday!
