k you asked for unpopular f1 opinions and idk if this even counts but i Do Not Like lando norris. i actively dislike him, actually. couldn't really tell you why, he's just really annoying. and that move with the fist pump during max's anthem at the canadian gp? not fucking cool. i also hate when people say shit like "omg he's so public school core" or "idk he just feels more authentic than the rest of them (drivers)" because most people didn't know he had money growing up. his dad is like a fucking billionaire (millionaire?) CEO like shut up. i just feel like he can't possibly be as nice as people think. also his win in miami had distinctly Weird Vibes. not necessarily bad, just Wrong. should not have happened. also that thing where he said "trump is someone you gotta have a lot of respect for" like no??? he's not??? he's a conservative right wing politician who was found guilty on all 34 counts in his hush money case. he's a white-collar criminal (the worst kind). he deserves no respect. shut up. it would be better to just not say anything at all. yeah.
I have had SO MANY asks on lando, but i shall keep responding😤.
No1. All the shit Lando has done. Ugh, dont even get me started on it, im just gonna link my old post bc im so done talking abt it.
No2. I don't hate lando, I'm not a lando 'hater', bc I feel like you can't really hate a person you have never met and don't know on a personal level. However, I do feel very strongly abt some of his actions, and I do think he should take accountability for shit he's done. Personally, I just don't like him that much, and so I stay away from his content and fans. If I see smthng funny he's done or see content abt him that I enjoy then I laugh and appreciate it, but recently he's just been irritating towards my beliefs and values, so I'm keeping my distance.
No3. I just wanna say, very gently, even if you dislike a driver, you shouldn't discredit their wins/ accomplishments bc in the end thats smthng they've earned, and it's literally their job, like for me, when I saw miami, I thought "good for him" and moved on. I did get really pissed abt his comments on trump tho, man really went and stained his first race win with all that shit.
No4. Ur point on the way ppl say, 'he's more authentic than the rest of the drivers'. Honestly, I've seen so many ppl have this opinion, and all I'm gonna say is: Every driver has a different pr strategy. Lando's whole strategy is being perceived as 'relateable' and 'quirky', and, by the looks of it, it's working really well. Obv we – as fans – will never know if he's genuinely like this in person or if it is just fully pr (same with all the other drivers), but from what's provided to us we're all free to make our own assumptions :]
I just feel like he can't possibly as nice as people think
I think, nonnie (and this is meant in the kindest way possible), assumptions like these are smthng we should avoid making. You don't know lando, and I don't know lando, so really we'll never know if he's truly as nice or not, and we shouldn't say stuff like this about ppl who've never actually done anything to be precieved that way. Like yes, we can talk abt how lando is ignorant and the type to either: 1. Not think bfr he speaks/ does smthng or 2. Has really bad political views and questionable morals (and if this option is fully confirmed, i will become a full hater, doesn't matter if hes nice or not). But what has he ever done that shows us he's not kind/ nice to his fans?

I need more lore on that very attractive Fletcher Jennings (taly)
a bit of a rundown of (no. 1) for you :)
- his name is huw jones, but he honestly goes by ‘no 1’ more than he ever goes by ‘huw’. he probably thrives off the ego rub
- he’s 29 years old physically, 159 years old technically. (24 september 1864) i could get into my lore about how they age, etc. but i feel like that could all be compressed into one giant post.
- however! speaking of an ego rub, though talyllyn is old af (turning 160 this year!) he still has a bit of a ‘princely’ manner in how he carries himself. i think a lot of people would think him to be humble like his rws counterpart (skarloey), but i think the fact that he ran nearly continuously from 1865-1945 is a little bit of a flex if i do say so myself. he wants to be celebrated for that, wouldn’t you?
- he’s got a crazy rivalry with the other engines on the railway, and chewed dolgoch out over the fact that he would rather buy ‘replacements’ (no. 3 and no. 4) from the corris than give him a full overhaul (like no 2 and the volunteers could give him a complete overhaul with 50 GBP, but i digress)
- talyllyn has a lot of old victorian mannerisms. if you enter his room it’s like a time warp, a bit of nursing home core honestly. an old iron bed, floral prints, trinkets, the whole grandma gamut.
here’s a quote from railway adventure that i feel like is really fitting of just…no. 1
“…like everything else about the railway this room had remained firmly rooted in the Victorian age; it made no concession whatever to the 20th century, was not in the best state of repair and looked as if it had not been spring-cleaned within living memory. One end of it had been fitted up as a booking office with a long counter, a ticket cabinet and a ticket date stamping machine. This last was of the early pattern on which a change of date type can only be effected with the aid of some pointed instrument such as a penknife, and where the ink ribbon must be periodically wound back by hand.”
- according to railway adventure by LTC rolt (my main ref for no. 1) whenever no. 1 first arrived it was bouncy and wild due to its “horizontal motion” which makes me feel like he’s a lot more brisk than dolgoch.
- huw talks fast, and is a lot more charismatic. he goes “yup… indeed…aye…” in conversation while dolgoch goes “isn’t it?” and “mhm.”
- pre-preservation i feel like that no. 1 was the ‘preferred’ engine. it’s more a headcanon for me rather than fact, but i feel like the reason why no. 1 had so many overhauls in the past compared to no. 2 was because no 1 was the one who ran better after all of the ‘teething troubles’ were fixed.
- to me, even though the two are quite old, there is still a rivalry between no1 and no2 to this day. think a big brother vs little brother rivalry. the ‘i know better’ role, y’know?
i think that’s basically all i have now. it’s kind of funny bc no. 1 is actually the least developed of my narrow gauge humanization ocs, (that’s a mouthful) but please send more asks if you want to know more!!

I had a lore dump written out and then it was gone, so here’s attempt no2 + some shots of the other side of his face. This is trimmed down and not all my thoughts. I’ll stick most of it under a read more because it’s a smidge more body horror of the eldritch tentacle variety.
In canon I believe Sylus started out as something, had something else inflicted on him, and then the addition of the aether core changed him some more. My intent with this design is that you shouldn’t be able to tell exactly what his original state should be because we’ve gotten CRUMBS on this guy so far. Of the handful of little things he’s given us, my brain has latched so hard on to his promise card where he didn’t want you to watch him dig bullets out of his arm because he didn’t want you to think he’s a monster??? What’s going on under your skin my dude??? Serial killer talk but I wanna know. He’s so confident in every other aspect of his being but he feels some amount of shame for what he is, and I think it’s because he’s some twisted broken thing lacking identity or kinship.
Due to his business model of (crime) gambling and making deals, I think he’s lacking a life/heart/mortality to lose because of a deal he made. It’s unclear if this was bad or good for him. I like the fallen angel theory but I don’t think he fell for the same reasons as Lucifer, I think it’s far more in character for him to have made a deal with a demon/a devil figure because he did not like the high authority he was under and wanted out, and not because he wanted to be king of the world. He doesn’t like authority in general, and for being a bad guy he doesn’t seem to punch down. He said he doesn’t like or dislike animals but the Disney princessesque things that keep happening to him say otherwise, I think he respects them a little more than most of the people he deals with to be honest. While I was typing this out the first time I was reminded of Alucard from Hellsing, as this powerful immortal being who finds mortality and mortals beautiful. He especially liked the ones with strength in some form, physical or in their resolve, will to live etc but animals just sort of exist. They lack those human flaws that seem to annoy Sylus (incompetence, cowardice, disloyalty, to name a few I’ve noticed) and remember that he doesn’t think of Mephisto as a pet. The way that he can seem to get animals apart from cats to just listen to him is. Interesting. I can argue he’s got some bird traits but a lot of them actually overlap with the dragon association so I think you guys get it. My additions are a little obscure and largely opinion as someone who owns both reptiles and birds lol
But back to his inability to die, my theory is a Davy Jones situation where his life exists somewhere but he doesn’t have it. Maybe he gave it to mc, or gave it up for her, but whatever it is I think he at least knows where it is. I can’t imagine someone like Sylus would be content with someone else possessing something so important, unless it’s mc of course.
I am a pretty firm believer that eternal beings always end up jaded and miserable. Sylus has built himself a lifestyle where he can acquire any material thing he likes, so I think he might be in the early stages of chasing any and everything that makes him happy. He’s not desperate for the serotonin yet but it’s only a matter of time. The addition of mc is a refreshing breath of that life he’s lacking into his existence.
On that note, this monster form I made for him is damaged/incomplete, and it’s asymmetrical and imperfect. Without a driving life force he’s crumbling, but since he can’t die he’s stuck. Whatever he is, it’s unnatural, neither life or death want him so he’s some in between thing. Leaning a bit more into that horror his body is broken, haphazardly kept together by his evol. Outside the crystalline wanderer claws and ruby veining he’s very dull, no shine in his eyes as if he’s an empty husk. BUT he’s got something sloshing around inside him, I just don’t think it’s blood and organs. His ridiculous heart rate is probably something else, something that’s only kind of good at mimicking a heart beat.
PERHAAPPSSs is the gross bubbling of viscous eldritch void soup and tentacles helping keep him the motor running. Again it’s only kind of good at pretending to be alive. He’s already pretty broken so he breaks himself up sometimes, on purpose.
Tumblr media
Like when he’s feeling bitey, or really wants someone to leave. Like for the few mentions of having a scarred past and being a monster I sure do hope he’s some genuinely beastly blighted looking thing. Maybe he really is a wanderer that caused the appearance of all the wanders in the world and that’s why he doesn’t want mc to know, but I’m not convinced. I feel like it’s gotta be worse than that. Infold can we have 1 memory that doesn’t take place in the present day
Tumblr media
My take on whatever is going on with Sylus, combining the demon/fallen angel and wanderer theories.

he struck first, and also i think that what they were getting at was him putting something into 2bs data beforehand, a MINI virus to halt her movements in the event of this happening. so he implanted a virus in 2b to halt her movements because he knew he couldnt beat her in combat. but pod153 "disobeyed" him by applying a vaccine to return her movement. 9s was to be executed anyway, direct orders from the commander, and even stated that following HIS orders had been cancelled
with no options left, he strikes her first, but
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he aims to injure her, not kill her. he enjoyed spending time with her, he couldnt bring himself to kill her (right then, at least. his mental state was more Stable generally speaking)
but she knows what she has to do, since shes done it over and over and over already. whats the point? he'll be replaced and she'll get paired up with another 9s soon anyway. this 9s she bonded with was already ordered for execution. it was just a matter of when she could do it. so of course she aimed for his core, she's killing him
but in that moment, they both realized the others intentions. but for the two of them, it was too late to change anything anyway. she realized he didnt want to kill her, and purposefully missed anything vital. she realized that she fulfilled her orders, again. killing the one she was close to, again. he realized that she stayed true to her orders and mission, in a way thats very like her and true to herself. (this is something that no9 liked about no2 as well, and why he wanted to be killed by her)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
but once the deed is done and she's left alive and with the injury meant to harm, not kill, not only is she saddened by having to kill him for the Nth time, she's also caught up in "why did you not try to kill me? you could've killed me right then and there"
knowing it was because he enjoyed being partnered with her and couldnt bring himself to do it. and she knows shes going to remember this, and that itll happen again. she'll get close to him again, because that's whats destined for the two of them. their models and personalities were literally built to be like this thanks to no9s fuckery. the two of them dont know this, of course, but itll happen over and over and over.
it makes you wonder, how many times did 9s try to fight back in a way that wouldnt directly kill her? offering her a chance every time, only to be struck down by his beloved 2b in return? its so fun. so hurts.

I love how ppl like to pick apart cloud and Tifas relationship while him and aerith have nothing close to it 🤣
They have to pick it apart because the first thing anyone has to do to prove their ship is destroy the canon one. That's why dumdums spend more time dragging Tifa than they do talking about Aerith.
And that's also why they ignore the ultis, since the latest ones literally say that Zack is special to Aerith, and Tifa is an important partner (in the romantic other half sense) to Cloud. That's literally what they say and the second I get my book I'll be putting pages up. Until then a gift from twitter...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aerith's page info on the left.
One date!
Aerith, who was confronted by Reno at the church, asked Cloud to be her bodyguard. The payment was for "one date", which is also from a scene in Crisis Core between Zack and Aerith. In another scene, there is an email from Kunsel, who offers to fix the broken wagon that Zack made for Aerith, but she declines, which is probably why the original game had her using a basket instead.
Zack is special to Aerith.
That's a rough translation, but the final line is word for word.
Tifa's info on the right. The character section with her other renders, not the no2 info.
Tifa is a childhood friend of Cloud and in Midgar takes on the role of a reliable partner. She appears in many works alongside Cloud.
This is the no2 info for anyone interested.
Tifa is the best guide.
According to Tifa she's the best guide in the slum. During Crisis Core's Nibelheim section she once said she's the best guide in the village.

CHARACTER CHEAT SHEET: PETER PARKER / SPIDER-MAN
Peter Parker’s abilities, traits, and history can be complicated, so I gathered up all I know from comics and all the website I’ve visited in my life, revisited them, and put them together. I hope that the Marvel fanfictions writers will find this useful, especially that more and more Spider-Man fanfics are written nowadays.
[fun fact about the hyphen between ‘Spider’ and ‘Man’ - the creators of the character used it to differ Spider-Man from Superman.]
Full name: Peter Benjamin Parker
Spider-Man aliases: Spidey, Webhead, Webs, Web-Slinger, Wallcrawler/ Wall-crawler
Date of birth: - comics: Peter is a Libra, making his birthday sometime between September 23rd and October 22nd. - MCU: August 10th, 2001
Characteristics: - gender: male - current height (age 28): 5' 10" / teenage years height: 5' 5" - current weight (age 28): 167 lbs (76 kg) / teenage years weight: 140 lbs (64 kg) - eyes: hazel - hair: brown
Family: - Richard Parker, Mary Parker (parents, killed in a plane crash, spies) - Benjamin Parker (uncle, killed by a thief) - May Parker (aunt); (- Teresa Parker (sister) ) (- William Fitzpatrick (maternal grandfather, killed) )
Address: - grew up on: 20 Ingram Street, Forest Hills, Queens - currently living in: Queens
Core personality traits: - loner - neurotic (anxiety, fear, jealously, loneliness, worry, envy, frustration) - funny and witty, yet respectful (uses humor as defense/coping mechanism and to distract an opponent) - strong willed, brave - nerdy/geeky - shy, socially awkward - caring, loyal, kind, trusting, considerate - always worried, cautious, hopeful
Intelligence: - he graduated Midtown high with the highest scholastic average in the school's history - Octavius stated that Peter's “smarter than all of them” - Peter’s more intelligent than anyone he knows and he doesn't understand why Peter doesn't use all of his intellect - Peter's IQ is 250, making his position in the Highest IQ Ranks of Marvel characters in the top 5 (it's a made up universe, ok)
Equipment:
Costume: - in the early days after the spider bite when peter was making money via wrestling, peter made a costume because a TV producer told him it would sell as an act along with the wrestling - he created a mask to avoid the embarrassment if he lost a match, later it served him to protect his identity and hide his fear during fights
Utility Belt: - a utility belt holding extra clips of webbing (later: Spider-Tracers, Spider-Signal), placed on his waist under the suit (- recently upgraded to hold cartridges of different types of webbing, freeze capsules, new Spider-Tracers as well as a newly upgraded Spider-Signal that has a UV light setting for forensic analysis.) (- in the MCU, the belt was changed into clips on the hip height of the suit)
Web-shooters: - he first created the web-shooters so they can give him the advantage over pro-wrestlers  - they're made of materials that don't trip metal detector alarms (the material changes as the comics go, it's plastic, carbon fiber, and so on) - they're pressure sensitive - work only when peter taps on them twice very quickly with his middle and ring finger. the pressure, though, is really big, given the super strength. in that way, the web-shooters don't go off in a fight or when he shakes someone's hand. it also means that an average human wouldn't be able to use them, given that they need a certain degree of pressure put on the trigger. - over the years Peter's learned to use the web-shooters in more ways than just shooting single strings - he can make a parachute, web up a cast for a broken arm, a shield, and more and more variations he needs at the moment - from marvel.com: “the webbing [is a shear-thinning liquid (virtually solid until a shearing force is applied to it, rendering it fluid) whose exact formula is as yet unknown, but is related to nylon. On contact with air, the long-chain polymer knits and forms an extremely tough, flexible fiber with extraordinary adhesive properties. The web fluid's adhesive quality diminishes rapidly with exposure to air. (Where it does not make contact with air, such as the attachment disk of the web-shooter, it remains very adhesive.) After about one to two hours, certain imbibed esters cause the solid form of the web fluid to dissolve into a powder. Because the fluid almost instantly sublimates from solid to liquid when under shear pressure, and is not adhesive in its anaerobic liquid/solid phase transition point, there is no clogging of the web-shooter's parts."
Tumblr media
Superpowers:
[fun fact no2: he's holding back in every fight and on daily basis - both in the intellect and physical departments.]
Mutations: - he's got harder bones and tougher skin, hard for a syringe to pin through - his organs' tissue is most probably stronger to not get squashed under the pressure of impact forces (such as g-forces while he's swinging)
Strength: - he can bench press up to 10 tons but it was stated that it’s the average strength he uses - he's holding back a lot (supporting the weight of the Daily Bugle building, landing a private jet with  a landing weight between 175,000-215,000 pounds, breaking through Iron Man's armor, even breaking through eight of Doctor Octopus' carbonadium tentacles, lifting a large pile of iron-debris equivalent to the weight of a locomotive approximately 130 tons) - he can jump to a height of several stories in a single bound - he’s strong enough to knock out people with normal durability with as little as a tap to the head - he can throw a human sized and weight object across, like, New York
Speed, agility, reflexes: - his perfect sense of balance is complemented by the generally elastic nature of his body - he can adjust his position by instinct, which enables him to balance himself on virtually any object - he can outrun moving cars - according to the comics, he can run 70-115mph - it was stated that he can go around 120 mph when swinging the fastest he can - he's agile and quick enough that in a combat fight the foe can only see a blur, dodging attacks and bullets the second they’re put in motion - according to the official bios, his heightened reflexes are about 40 times better than the ones of an average human  (with the help of spider-sense, he can dodge a bullet before it’s even shot)
Spider-sense: ( a form of unconscious precognition / extra-sensory perception tuned to danger or threats that might cause him physical or mental injury) - it can make Peter feel off when his loved ones are in danger - it can differ a loved one/a very close friend and a foe (best example: Aunt May once sneaked up on Spider-Man and smashed a vase on his head) - it can help Peter navigate in the dark - it’s a bit off and overwhelmed and Peter doesn’t react to it right when he’s very tired or distracted or when there's too much danger around (like in a big fights with many opponents and weapons) - when it goes off and “buzzes” without imminent and instant danger, Peter may think it’s just gone a bit bonkers, therefore he doesn’t react it much. - it helps with instinctive shooting webs at places that won’t crumble under Peter’s weight - it reduces stuff like the need to look sideways when crossing the street or the need to cover up 100% when Peter changes in an alleyway - Peter was banned from playing poker with F4 because the spider-sense helps him detect when someone is bluffing - sometimes it takes control over peter when there has to be less thinking and more reacting done in a fight - it can hurt peter when it's triggered hard enough
Healing factor: - he can heal from bullet wounds, concussions, broken or sprained bones, and third-degree burns in a matter of days - his body produces less fatigue toxins than ordinary humans which allows him to exert himself for days - he can go a couple of days with no sleep; - he's got a weirdly high tolerance to radiation - he can hold his breath for eight minutes or more
Metabolism: - he’s got a bottomless belly - high metabolism means he needs more food to function, but then again he can go without food because of the healing factor - he can even shrug off some toxins - the toxin resistance makes it harder for someone to knock him out with toxins (such as drugs, for example)
Enhanced senses: - he’s got enhanced sight, hearing, smell, touch, and taste - they can be as much of help as of a nightmare. each of his senses was enhanced which means he can hear his neighbors as they roll over in their bed, but going to a concert isn't that fun
Wall-crawling: - according to Spider-Man Vol 1 #26 it’s a mutagenic, cerebellum-wide alteration of his engrams resulting in the ability to mentally control the flux of inter-atomic attraction (electrostatic force) between molecular boundary layers - which basically means electrostatic attraction between Peter’s skin and a solid surface - it’s mentally controlled
Quotes/mottos:
“That's not why you do it. You do it 'cause it's the right thing to do. [...] Now it's my turn. [...] I'm going to give it my all. [...] I'll never quit.”
“With great there must also come great responsibility.”
“Life sucks sometimes... but it's always worth living.“
“Everyone can be saved.”
Other:
- the Spider-Man mask supposedly muffles and changes Peter’s voice enough to be unrecognizable - Peter’s a NY Mets fan - Peter’s witty personality works on every hero’s nerve except for Deadpool (Wolverine one stated that being in company of one of these two is a nightmare, and being in company of both of them is one of the worst things he’s gone through) and Tony - the adhesive skin allows Peter’s mask to stick to his face in case someone tried to pull the mask off - he’s a skilled photographer.

Whenever I rewatch DN I always get uncomfortable when it shows misa being restrained. No1 it'd so ooc for L, I get that he has suspicions over the shinigami eyes and everything but there was no need for her to be strapped down and unable to move. meanwhile light fucking yagami the main suspect of the case, only gets shackles to his feet (and hands??? I can't remember) like how tf does that make any sense??? Surely L would've put stricter restrictions onto light the same way misa was. Like ik he's 100% sure that she's the second kira, the blindfold I can get (shinigami eyes) but her being COMPLETELY IMMOBILISED?? and the way she was stripped down to a cloth meanwhile Light got his (normal??) Clothes like in what world does that make sense and seem fair.
No2 it's so unnessasary, DN isn't a show that needs fanservice. DN at its core is a psychological thriller, it didn't need all the misa fanservice bc in my opinion, there's already some of it (in the anime at least). And it creates all this other uncalled for, hate on Misa aswell for the ignorant fans to go say "she's just fanservice, her character doesn't add anything to the story" LIKE LEAVE MY GIRL ALONE.
am i crazy for believing that the way Misa was restrained was just Obata doing some weird fanservice and not what L would do if he weren't a character on a page, but had free will and consciousness

I Talk About Bakugou Because I'm Bored
Bakugou. He's best boy. My son.
No, actually, I'mma explain in as few words as possible why I absolutely adore his character.
Oops this got long.
Okay, so it's the first chapter/episode (I'll go off the anime because it's practically identical and more widespread) and it opens with Deku narrating. This is to establish an immediate connection between the audience and the main protagonist; it conveys how important Deku is. Plenty of shows do this so it's not really a big deal, just common practise. HOWEVER, the second character we hear speak is Bakugou, who is insulting Deku.
This is framed in a way that's supposed to make us dislike him, and continues all throughout the first episode. He's presented as a four year old trying to beat up our main character, and then his next scene is being ten years older and Still Trying To Beat Up Our Main Character. This makes him seem rotten to the core, as his character hasn't changed whatsoever in that time, and as an audience we know very little information about him.
On top of that, within this first episode he is deliberately made to have no redeeming qualities, nothing that could make him sympathetic in any way. The Sludge Villain fiasco isn't until ep2, and in this one he literally tells Deku to kill himself, reaching peak middle school bully. He destroys something the Main Protagonist clearly treasures and is privelaged in every conceivable way, even his (later obviously intense) desire to be a hero is simplified to monetary gain, with "I'll be even richer than All Might himself!!!" (or something to that effect). Later on I'd explain such a line to be a result of young Baku trying to quantify his future success, something he never mentions again after the Sludge Villain.
In these first twenty minutes of the anime, he's been absolutely dragged through the mud. Not only is he this arrogant, selfish, mean bully, he's also the sort of bully we can all relate to having, making him even more dislikable! It's so easy for an audience to write him off as irredeemable almost immediately.
But then comes ep2. Seasoned anime watchers likely brush over some small details, but the fact that the Sludge Villain attack happens when Bakugou is 14? Wow. At this point no one likes him, and to many people seeing this happen could come across as a sort of karmic punishment, deserving and therefore less sympathetic. And so Horikoshi succeeds in continuing to make him dislikable but also adding depth to this character who so clearly believed he was invincible.
However, any such depth is pretty much ignored by the audience. I've watched many reactions, and, at this point, due to Bakugou's sub par personality, most people don't care about what happened upon first viewing. To be fair, it's treated as background until Deku steps in and proves himself a hero, at which point he's promised a quirk and That's all anyone can think about.
(also there's some symbolism in this ep because Bakugou and Deku were both attacked by the Sludge Villain and saved by All Might, showing they are actually equals in character and have a lot in common.)
Anyway, so for the first few episodes no one gives two shits about Bakugou because he's meant to be dislikable. He's set up to be as bad as possible without needing to be arrested/never being redeemable. Yet, he's also not clearly set up to be redeemed whatsoever. Let me explain:
Quick break from bnha to head over to atla, Zuko is the perfect redemption arc. And some of that can be attributed to his presentation in the first few episodes: where he's portrayed as antagonistic but still honourable, and has a tragic past. He's the sort of character you know isn't actually bad at heart. But Bakugou hasn't got any tragic back story to speak of, and certainly isn't honourable, so we don't expect a redemption.
That's so interesting to me, because it basically means his character could go in any direction but most shounen fans expect him to be the typical rival. He's mean now and will be mean later, nbd. Will probably betray Deku in order to gain more power. That sort of stuff.
But, as the first season progresses, we're shown that Bakugou (on top of all of his anger issues and cruelty) is also so incredibly determined, to the point where it's harmful. A lot of people, even in season three, expect him to accept the LoV's offer, but as early as ep7 he's shown to be dedicated to being the best on his own. He utterly fails at pretending to be a villain, and doesn't manage to work with his "villain" teammate. When the USJ attack rolls around, he fights alongside Deku.
I feel like I've just word babbled for a while so here's a picture:

Isn't that adorable? Anyway, I continue.
Okay, recap: Bakugou is presented initially as bad and in no way sympathetic, but throughout season one some of his good qualities do get highlighted.
The Sports Festival is probably when I was most on edge about who my favourite character was. Todoroki vs Deku vs Bakugou was a whole internal debate. We all know who eventually won though. Point is, this is the first time Bakugou is supposed to seem likeable.
Like, yes, he helped out at the USJ, but he was still reckless and angry about it. In this arc his flaws stop seeming so antagonistic (even though he's now more at odds with 1-A than he's ever been) and are framed humorously; if you think about it, the only times you're not rooting for Bakugou in this whole arc is when you're laughing at his antics. He stops seeming like a massive unforgivable bully and becomes a secondary threat behind Todoroki, even though he ultimately wins the Festival.
One of the first things he does in the season is tell people messing with their class go away, albeit bluntly, and is then complimented for it by Kirishima, who is the nicest guy in the class! No longer are we supposed to necessarily dislike him, as he's being developed after all of season 1. Him saying "I'm gonna win" as his speach is expected by the audience and laughed at- absolutely nobody watching was scared he'd hurt Deku in some terrible way due to it.
The cavalry battle demonstrates that he can work in a team after some adjustment time, and he gets his own antagonist (Monoma) who we all root against! This makes us closer to his character, as in a way we have a common enemy.
Then obviously the single battles are super interesting, his one against Uraraka especially turning people to his side. Since Aizawa, who as an audience we trust after his actions at the USJ, backs up Bakugou's actions, we accept them as the right thing to have done. Especially since Bakugou later calls Uraraka "not fragile", demonstrating that he can respect people and actually isn't as discriminatory as his earlier actions against Deku might lead one to believe. Everything about this fight is pure gold.
The rest of his fights are also very interesting, so let me go off on a little tangent. He's the only person to 1) be uninjured by the end of the festival (he did win tho so...) and 2) he's the only person to win all of his fights by forcing his opponent into submission. He knocks out Uraraka and Kirishima, goes to knock out Tokoyami but has him give up instead and then knocks out Todoroki! His fights are so much more violent than the others, who are primarily trying to win by pushing their opponent out of the ring or by immobilising them, which could make him come across as more aggressive (which he is). But it actually works for his character considering the way he demonstrates respect is by giving his all, therefore in order to show he cares about these fights he has to go for absolutely decimating the person against him.
Also, interesting side note to all that, out of our main three festival contenders, Bakugou is the only one who actually needs to use the festival for its intended purpose: impressing scouts. Todoroki, as the son of Endeavour, is already known throughout the hero community as a promising young talent, and could even get the No2 hero to coach him if he so wished. Deku even says himself that he doesn't necessarily need to get scouted when All Might is already teaching him. Out of the three Bakugou has the most incentive to actually show off here, no guilt/baggage required.
Anyway blah Stain arc blah. Bakugou picks Jeanist to intern with, which many might think makes him shallow. Their quirks are in no way similar and their images are almost diametrically opposing, and Bakugou only chose him because he's such a highly ranked hero. However, I believe the creators crafted this pairing in order to convey how good of a future hero Bakugou promises to be. BJ, in these episodes, is all talk. He's such a superficial hero that, in order to rectify Bakugou's foul personality, he gives him a haircut. He demonstrates the arrogant nature that Stain hates so much. Meanwhile, Bakugou ignores him and is still arrogant in his own way, obviously, but not for anything other than his own pride. He, when you break it down, spends all of his time working towards a genuinely good goal, just to prove to himself that he's worthy- no desire for fans or fame in there, he wants success but isn't actually looking for any of the perks that come with it. This, imo, makes him better than BJ. Also, Bakugou never actually says he is working with BJ due to his rank and could be doing it because their quirks botha require so much time, practice and effort.
Okay, so, now for the final exams. This is where I decided he was my favourite. He works with Deku etc and proves to the audience that he can work with him and won't necessarily become a villain, plus All Might lets loose a little and proves he too can be violent and mean.
What I really love is about ep24 s2 is actually the bit that makes a lot of people chuckle: where Bakugou bites AM's hand. This kid has been giving his absolute all, putting every ounce of strength into beating his idol, because, lbh, his self worth depends on his success here, until he literally cannot raise his arms to punch anymore. And yet, he still refuses to go down, despite every odd against him. Something about that tenacity is just so incredible to me.
It's almost 1am, let's have another break, shall we?

Idk I thought it was funny when it came onto my dash.
Btw, it's now I wish I knew how to hide most of a post lololol.
Season three is just Baku's season, ngl. Like,,, so many of his Stans got their start here, and it's not hard to tell why. A big reason why Bakugou felt irredeemable was because he had no reason to be so mean, but the narrative makes up for that by then putting him through so many bad experiences.
There's been a million metas on why he's so perfect in this season, and this is already abhorrently long, but ah well.
Okay so he's captured by the League through no fault of his own. As the audience when we find out Bakugou is missing we immediately think he's done the dumb thing and gone off on his own, but it's quickly revealed that he's already been kidnapped. Tokoyami is also taken, cementing that the LoV are looking for kids with some villainous feature, but also showing that their perception of what makes a child villainous is skewed, since we know Tokoyami is good.
At the hideout Baku is entirely restrained and silent, so clearly against his will. If we remember every other time he's been restrained (so goddamn many) we'll think back to the Sludge Villain, finding out Deku had a quirk, after his *win* against Todoroki and his internship with BJ. In this way, it's obvious to tell that this is all a Bad experience for him, as those were all very negative times in his life. There's no way he'll join them.
None of the pros even consider it a possibility. Aizawa defends him against the press (and, once again, we like Aizawa! So we trust him) and none of his classmates think he could be evil, they're all primarily concerned for his safety. Even BJ, who insinuated that Baku could easily become a villain, doesn't appear to believe he'll turn down that path.
Also Baku is pretty cool when he fights of the villain like I'm ngl.
And then, when he sees All Might? And his face screws up? With his lip trembling? It's undercut with a joke but he's so obviously just a scared/relieved kid in that moment and it's gut wrenching to remember that.
It's really getting late and I'm at 11% here so speed round through the provisional licence exam.
He can tell Shindou is two faced
Even though he's blunt he's still got the instincts and smarts of a hero
The class looks up to him
Aizawa has a lot of favouritism for this child, y'all, how did I not notice this?
His failure here is intrinsic to his character growth as it means he hits absolute rock bottom and we can move onto:
Deku Vs Kacchan 2
Where to even start. The guilt and pain he experiences has made me tear up several times just from thinking about them, and that GODDAMN VOICE CRACK AS HE YELLS nope it hurts too bad.
It's sort of the culmination of every emotional issue Bakugou has exhibited throughout the series. He can't find self worth without constant praise and pressures himself to be unimaginably perfect, to a self destructive point. He has no support system in place to help him with these issues. His anger stops being repetitive/funny/annoying and is finally, clearly shown to be more damaging to himself than to anyone else, as he feels the only way he can deal with his stress and hurt is by lashing out at those who try to help him.
In this fight we also learn why Deku, even though he's Baku's victim, still looks up to him so much. And the whole dynamic is so perfect I might cry rn.
I am annoyed, though, that further than that Baku's mental health has been pretty much entirely ignored for 200 manga chapters. Probably my only complaint about him.
.
.
.
At an entirely selfish level, I can relate to Bakugou. Obviously I'm not a teenage boy with explosion powers who bullies people in order to feel any self worth, but the high standards for himself? The pain at any failures? Being told through childhood how great you are only for it to be torn away in your teens? That's all so painfully relatable to me, and so I feel an even deeper connection with his character.
One last picture to finish off:

It is crucial for me as an ethical vegan to also share a few facts on the destruction that animal farming causes to our environment, habitat and climate that leads to be the third leading cause of #climatechange ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨As the human appetite for meat, dairy and eggs increased over the years, so did our dependence on animal farming system that has livestock as its core commodity ✨To feed billions of humans leads to livestock not become a short-term commitment, as for farmers requires animals to be raised over months or years before they are ready to be slaughtered for meat and raised for to produce milk or eggs that require them to be alive for longer ✨These animals were brought here artificially and their products are all artificially inseminated, which is horrific pain for them and requires a tremendous amount of livestock feed, resulting over 40% arable land on the planet✨Our forests and biodiversity are paying a high price for this✨In 2012 there was nearly 800 million acres of forest in the U.S. ✨✨Currently, 260 million acres of US forests have been clear-cut to create land used to produce livestock feed, and 92% of the #amazon rainforest deforestation is attributed to animal meat and crops to feed livestock ✨The same amount of land to produce 1.000 quarter -pound hamburgers patties per acre we can produce with the same size of land 50,000 pounds of tomatoes, over 40,000 pounds of potatoes, 30,000 pounds of carrots or 20,000 pounds of apples .✨ The evidences on the whole from this illogical system destruction to our ecosystems and climate is undeniable ✨Going #vegan is the biggest single way we can do to diminish our carbon foot print ✨. Traffic pollution is causing childhood asthma in Atlanta’s urban counties
Tumblr media
With any conversation we have about reducing car trips in the Atlanta region (including topics such as congestion pricing, transit ridership, and parking reform), negative externalities need to be taken into consideration. Particularly when they affect the most vulnerable among us, such as children.
And a newly released study makes it clear just how much we're hurting children with traffic pollution, by way of asthma cases. It find that kids living in urban areas have twice the percentage of asthma cases attributable to traffic pollution as compared to ones living in rural areas.
A research team working with the University of Washington has created an interactive map of counties in the U.S. where the burden of childhood asthma is most closely related to nitrogen dioxide (NO2), a strong sign of traffic-related air pollution.
It covers the years 2000 and 2010. The image here shows the Atlanta region from the 2010 map and the core counties where traffic pollution is causing the most childhood asthma.
Fulton: 505 cases (21% of all cases)
Cobb: 383 cases, (20% of all cases)
DeKalb: 394 cases, (22% of all cases)
Clayton: 160 cases, (20% of all cases)
Read about the study in this CityLab post.
Whether it’s from traffic emissions or deadly pedestrian collisions, car-dependent urban design is a serious health issue that affects vulnerable groups such as children and lower-income people who can’t afford a car (and who are increasingly stuck in car-centric places in the suburbs). We need to make hard decisions about how much we drive in Atlanta, and how much our urban design promotes alternatives.

Back to the Z is no2 theory. Wasn't Z a failed experiment cuz his body rejected S's cells cuz he was already irradiated with jenova/mako? So he couldn't be part of the reunion theory since his cellular structure was already mutated? I thought that was the reason they were rejected. Z failed cuz he was already a part of soldier, and C failed cuz his psyche broke. It's an interesting theory, def a heartbreaking one.
🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ This level of tin foil hatting is above my pay grade lol
I know the devs are pulling info from the whole compilation, but that doesn't automatically mean all of it. Like, we've seen them cut stuff and focus on other parts already and it's weird that they chose these two numbers to represent the remnants.
No2 in crisis core was the genesis project, right? So, automatically we should think that's Genesis. But it doesn't look like genesis.
So, who's another no2? Well, Cloud was in the number 2 tank, but it doesn't look like him either. Who else? Maybe a project we don't already know about, but then why make a point of blurring the eyes in one frame then fully revealing the face in the story summary? It doesn't make sense unless we're meant to recognise him.
That leads to the possibility of Zack. Who was also in one of those 2 chambers and since Hojo dgaf about people, could well have got them mixed up once Zack was recaptured.
As for the rest, yeah, it's a stretch. I have no idea with the reunion stuff. I'm guessing. But that face is Zack. So, unless it's a clone of some kind or yet another alt timeline the simple explanation is Hojo fucked Zack over. That remnant behaved weird too. It didn't attack. Didn't do anything to Cloud besides stand then, distract him with the chopper and leave. It didn't behave like Sephiroth or his other puppets. People have remarked how odd that one is. Something is up.
I really don't want that to be Zack. Not really. It was a cool angsty idea, but I don't want that to be his fate. That's horrible!
As for the other remnant, there's stuff coming together for it.
