head cannon that nico just kinda moves around oddly. he doesn’t really have the mind space for paying attention to the people around him, or how normal people would navigate space. he looks for the nearest and darkest shadow when wanting to leave or exit a place. if he wants to get somewhere in the room he will take the quickest and most efficient route towards it (frequently walking over tables). he’ll look around the room, seemingly looking through the people there, at something only he can see. his head will tip towards empty space, as if listening to something only he can hear. the shadows draw towards him and curl around him- like the embrace of an old friend as much as it is a faithful follower and an affectionate lover. he may forget to blink, staring at people silently- as if reading your entire soul and deciding where to put you. he’s so silent you won’t even notice him in a room- you’ll forget he’s there- until he makes himself known. and suddenly, his presence is all oppressing and weighing down the room. he cannot be ignored any longer and you stare into his eyes with the knowledge that you have no choice in his presence. he is there, watching, listening, and acting.

this is mainly me pushing my weird! nico di angelo head cannons again. i’m especially fond of nico forgetting manners for the living because he’s so used to being with the dead.

but yeah. nico is a little freak he unnerves people with his godly/deathly aura and power. the real ones think it’s cute

okay, i like solangelo. quite a bit. but it kinda annoys me how quick they get together. i fact, all of nico’s healing process seemed kinda fast to me.

like they should’ve waited WAY longer until they started dating. it’s so unrealistic how fast nico got over his internal homophobia, got mentally-healthy enough to date, and then how he acts in the trials of apollo series. like yeah good for him, but i would have LOVED to see nico struggle more. i wanted to see nico heal slowly and later ON date will. maybe even when he was comfortable and confident in himself.

i think that’s why i’m such a fan of the aus where nico doesn’t stay and CHB and goes out on his own life and does stuff there.

i can’t help but wonder how nico di angelo is not insane.

he went through tartarus. alone.

he got trapped in a jar and was basically in a half coma for days.

he was manipulated by midos

he was wandering around the labyrinth for DAYS

there are just SO many things- even little things- that would DESTORY a person mentally and could very easily make them insane.

and yet- nico di angelo doesn’t appear to be mentally unwell in that way. he’s mentally ill, that’s obvious and made very clear. but he hasn’t lost it in that way.

i wonder what has been keeping him together. by god what has been keeping him going, but what has allowed for him to stay hinged.

could not agree with the entirety of this post more. espially the tags. go read them.

the dynamic of demigods thinking which other demigod is the most powerful is always amusing to me because. like, we know the big 3 kids are all the most powerful. That's just a fact of their universe. And then we know nearly every character views Percy as the strongest demigod, and most people are very rightfully intimidated by him.

and you look at the powers of the Big 3 kids and there's Percy, but then you realize Nico is just kind of objectively more powerful than him but simply chooses to hang out in Percy's shadow like he's Percy's scary dog privileges. Like, the two of them are pretty equally capable of causing multiple different apocalypses. Nico just also has like four different instakill powers and it's not like he doesn't use them. He very much uses them! Not infrequently, even! And they don't seem to take a significant amount of energy from him! And other demigods are pretty intimidated by both of them! But Nico makes a conscious point to keep his cards close to his chest and not let on exactly how dangerous and scary he can be if he wants to. People are already scared enough of him without knowing anything about him and he doesn't like that. Percy doesn't think about that nearly as much, and so usually just goes in guns blazing and that's part of why he's considered a wildcard. And then Nico himself puts Percy on a pedestal, so those who do know more about Nico's abilities then presume Nico knows something they don't about Percy that implies Percy is even stronger than him.

And even on a meta level Nico's narrative role requires him to be functionally more powerful than Percy, because he very often serves the purpose of getting Percy out of situations he can't handle on his own. That's just part of his function as a character! But also narratively he can't overshadow Percy so he just takes a backseat of his own accord and that's very amusing to me.

i love Percy so much but him telling the rest of the Argo II crew basic fucking horror stories about Nico was really fucked up, especially since the stories were so bad that they shaped Jason’s whole view of Nico as a person and made everyone scared of him.

Vash smiled genuinely after hearing him. He knew that Wolfwood would never understand why Vash is like this with humanity, or why he has those problems with his brother, or even why he would never kill somebody even if is the worst person in the world. But knowing he would give him a hand... that really touched him.
