In the contest, there is one common rival for all players — StatHero. Players are competing with each other and StatHero provides the baseline. This way, we can ensure that all players will have equal chances of winning the Grand Prize.

~September 1st 2021
“Airielle…” Josh whispered against her lips, removing his hands from her waist and placing them on top of hers, which was now on his belt buckle. He chuckled when Airielle pouted against his lips. “I already told you, starting over means starting all the way over.”  Airielle threw her head back and groaned, tightening her fingers on his belt buckle when he tried to move them again.
“Joshhh…,” she whined, stomping her foot a little, making him chuckle again. “Fine, what if we just cuddled?” She tried to compromise, and Josh almost nodded, but the mischievous twinkle in her eyes stopped him. “My dad’s not home, and I’m pretty sure Tamia is sleeping, so we can just go straight up to my room.” She trailed off, tightening her grip on his belt and tugging him closer to her.
“You hell, man,” he chuckled, closing his eyes again as he felt his will slipping away. “You gon let me do this right or what?”  Airielle rolled her eyes with a huff and dropped her hands from his belt.
“Fine,” She mumbled, crossing her arms over her chest.
“You such a damn brat” He laughed before placing a quick peck on her lips. “Go inside, I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Yeah, Yeah.” She mumbled, turning her back to him to hide her smile and unlock the front door.
“I love you,” he called out after her, laughing when she flagged her hand at him. He waited until she shut the door before walking back to his car. He paused as he passed by her new Audi in the driveway. “We gon have to do something about that,” he muttered before getting in his car and driving away.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Josh lay awake, deeply regretting not taking Airielle’s offer to cuddle. But like he told her, he wanted to start over with her. Josh wanted to prove to her that she was the only girl for him, and jumping back into bed with her was not the way for him to do that. Sighing, he grabbed his phone and opened up their text thread.
To AirielleJ: u still mad at me? 🥲😔 From AirielleJ ….. From AirielleJ: No  To AirielleJ: Good, miss u lovebug  From AirielleJ: boy, you could have been here, but no… you wanna be all gentleman like n shit 🙄 From AirielleJ: I mean… I can come over there… 🤔
Josh groaned and rubbed his hand over his face; he wanted her to come over so damn bad. He sighed and looked around the room he was currently sleeping in. He highly doubted Airielle wanted to sleep on a twin bed decorated with NFL sheets.
After his talk with Airielle, she voiced how having Yara at his place affected her. And Airi was right. Josh wanted his apartment to become their apartment. He wanted his bed to become theirs, and he had tainted it by letting Yara into his apartment. Before he could respond to Airi, his phone started vibrating with an incoming FaceTime call.
“Is there an issue?” she asked, getting straight to the point. “Because you didn’t wanna stay with me, and then I’m asking if I can come over there, and you’re just ignoring me.” Josh bit his lip to stop himself from laughing at the cute little scowl on her face.
“Rih. I want you to come over. I just have nowhere for us to sleep.”
Airielle furrowed her eyebrows. “What?” she asked, and Josh sighed before getting up and walking out of his boys' room. He flipped the camera around as he stepped into the living room, and Airielle’s jaw dropped at how bare it was. “Did you get robbed? Where’s all your furniture?!”
“I got rid of it,” Josh stated as he turned the camera back to him. “I- Like you said, I wanted this to be our temporary home, and I fucked up by letting Yara in here, So I got rid of everything she touched.”
“Oh,” was all Airielle said, her eyes widening as he turned the camera again and showed her his bare bedroom.
“I meant what I said about starting over. A fresh start for everything.”
Airielle nodded, wiping the lone tear that slipped out her eye. She didn’t know why she was crying. Nobody had ever done something this grand before. “Don’t go to sleep,” she said before she ended the FaceTime call, leaving Josh to stare at his black screen in confusion.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Josh was scrolling through his Instagram feed. Even though he was dead tired, Airielle told him not to fall asleep yet, and that was trying to do. He closed his eyes, the phone almost slipping out his hands, when there was a knock on his door.
“Mr Uso. Open up!”Airielle sing-songed from the hallway, and  Josh chuckled and went to open the door. “Surprise!” Airielle called out with a big smile on her face. Josh opened the door wider so Airielle could walk in.
“Whatchu’ doin here?” He asked, eyeing the bags in her hand.
“Well,” she started, grabbing the air mattress box and going into Josh’s room, with him following her. I wanted to cuddle, so I came up with a solution,” she said as she unboxed the air mattress and set it up. I love you, and nobody has ever taken my feelings into consideration like you have. You got rid of half your apartment, Josh.”
Josh just shrugged. “You told me how you felt about me having Y-” He stopped when he saw her flinch a little. “About me doin’ what I did, so I felt the need to make it up to you. I don’t want you to be uncomfortable here.”
“Awe,” Airielle said softly, a slight pout on her lips as she stood up from the floor and kissed him. “Thank you,” she whispered against his lips before stepping away. Now, lay down. You look like you’re about to drop.”
Josh playfully rolled his eyes but did exactly what she said, watching as she pulled some candles out of one of the bags. She went to place one of the candles on the dresser and frowned when she noticed the spot where it was empty. She looked over at Josh and shook her head. “I ain’t even gonna ask why you got rid of the dresser.”
“Don’t even think like that.” He said in a serious tone. “She was being nosey and went through my drawers.” Airielle hummed in response before just setting the candle on the nightstand. She took off her hoodie, and Josh bit his lip as her nipples hardened in the red spaghetti-strapped top she was wearing. He then groaned when she pulled down her sweatpants, leaving her in the red lace boyshorts she was wearing.
Josh couldn’t tear his eyes away from Airielle as she crawled on the bed before straddling him. She bit her lip before leaning down and kissing his lips passionately. Josh moaned into her mouth, his hand coming up to palm her ass. She pecked his lips two more times before removing herself from him entirely and cuddling into his side.
“Rih?”  He questioned, turning his head to the side. Airielle giggled as she saw how turned on he was. Good, she thought, payback from earlier,
“I thought you wanted to start all over,” she asked innocently, batting her eyelashes at him.
“Mann..” Josh trailed off, sucking his teeth. “You really are hell.” He stated, bringing her body closer to his and pulling the comforter around him.
“I know,” she mumbled, her eyes getting heavy with sleep. “I love you,” she added, closing her eyes.
“I love you too.”

something sweet, before all hell breaks loose... did I say that? Whoops 😅

I was watching NFL football when the news appeared of a rifle poking through the bushes at the former president’s Florida golf course not far away from where Trump was playing golf. The Secret Service’s quick action averted a tragedy, and a suspect soon was detained.
But it didn’t take long before I saw posts on my social media sites saying, “are they just missing on purpose to stir up drama?” and alleging that Trump was “trying to get sympathy.” The shocking inference that the incident was staged reminded me of similar responses from liberal friends following the more serious Pennsylvania attempt where a shooter came within half an inch of landing a bullet in Trump’s head. The instant response on the part of some of those people was that the GOP nominee had engineered the shooting in order to increase support for his presidential bid.
Conservatives at that time also had their own conspiracy theories. They wondered out loud whether the Trump shooting was an inside job on the part of the Biden-led Secret Service to harm the leading opponent of the president’s then-reelection bid. The idea was that Biden was not doing well in the polls and law enforcement supporters intentionally let the suspect close enough to Trump in order to fire off several rounds in an effort to end that political problem.
Dating back to the John F. Kennedy shooting and beyond, assassination long has been a fertile ground for misinformation, disinformation, propaganda, and wild conspiracy theories. Decades after the Kennedy murder, there remain wide-ranging theories that Lee Harvey Oswald did not act alone, Fidel Castro was behind the assassination, the mob ordered it out of revenge for the administration’s tough actions against organized crime, and Lyndon Johnson somehow was behind the effort in order to achieve his lifelong dream of becoming president.
The persistence of false narratives around many assassination attempts shows the peculiar nature of our current political times. With its toxic combination of intense polarization, radicalization, social media frenzies, and easy dissemination of debunked theories with very little evidence, the contemporary period shows why misinformation and disinformation flourish in so many different areas and why false stories represent such a threat to democratic governance. When people have their own facts and there are wildly varying interpretations of social, economic, and political developments, it is difficult to make sense of new happenings and agree on what happened.
Without those basic ingredients, it is hard for leaders to bring people together and for individuals to see one another as sharing in a common enterprise. Instead, it is easy to divide people, pit groups against one another, and encourage people to seek scapegoats for things they don’t like. We see that clearly in the immigration area because as opposed to making meaningful efforts to address border security and long-term migration patterns, leaders blame the other side, claim immigrants are behind high crime rates, that they steal people’s cats and dogs to eat them and argue opponents are not to be trusted with the future of America.
Assassination attempts also generate wild and unsubstantiated claims because by their very nature, they are violent, shocking, and impactful events. America has prided itself on its long history of stable, democratic rules and peaceful transitions of power. Things such as the Civil War are seen as an aberration in our political history.
But we all know that beneath the surface of a supposedly peaceful country are mass shootings, violent episodes, and occasional efforts to alter the course of civic affairs through violence. Assassination is the ultimate disruption that does alter the course of history and makes people suspicious of one another. There is survey evidence that in addition to rising political mistrust in the United States, Americans no longer trust one another. Questions asking people whether they trust their neighbors show our declining confidence in one another. Adversaries know this and are quick to spread false narratives designed to intensify public passions and divide people from one another. If you can’t trust your neighbors, you can’t trust anyone.
In our new Brookings book, “Lies That Kill: A Citizen’s Guide to Disinformation,” Elaine Kamarck and I argue that even in a crazy time period with mass shootings and targeted violence, we are not doomed to live in a fact-free world where lies prevail and distort our civic discourse. We can start by encouraging people to bring common sense to their interpretations of political events. For example, would Donald Trump seriously hire a 20-year-old guy who was not a very good shooter to put a bullet within a whisker of his head? Would the Secret Service deliberately allow a killer close access to a presidential candidate in order to remove him as a political competitor? No reasonable person should believe either one of those things.
People need to learn how to evaluate digital sources, spot the telltale signs of foreign influence operations, distinguish partisan from nonpartisan material, and not fall for crazy theories. Unless we do those things, America will continue to be bedeviled by blatant lies and false narratives that turn people against one another. We will lurch from one event to another and be fearful that the other side will use the most nefarious techniques to impose its will on others. We need to tame the torrent of misinformation and disinformation to address our country’s many problems.

Very dead spin
Tumblr media
Deadspin's fall serves as a sad encapsulation of everything that's happened to the American left since 2010 or so.
It started out as a goofy, irreverent, willfully offensive site with a left-ish bent. Sports were the main priority, and it didn't proselytize or shame readers so much as it assumed that if you were intelligent and/or hip enough to be in their desired audience, you didn't need a writer to explain how team owners are greedy or why American healthcare sucked. Legacy sports outlets were originally not even allowed to mention the site by name, but after just a few years they got big and legitimate enough they were the main reason the Penn State child molestation scandal came to national attention instead of remaining buried.
But like all the other Gawker sites it kept getting more and whiny and didactic as its audience grew. You can be weird and mean and funny if you're only hoping to reach a couple thousand people per post, but once you've been profiled in the New York Times you got to clean up your act. Writers took fewer risks. The points they made became rote and predictable, the coverage was bland, and the jokes attacked the same handful of well worn targets again and again. They thought they had become the insiders, the cultural vanguard, and that it was now their job to police everyone else's thoughts and actions.
Aaaaand then their father site posted what was essentially revenge porn of Hulk Hogan. This was after they had outed billionaire vampire Peter Thiel as gay, and that pissed him off so much he financed a massive lawsuit on Hogan's behalf that bankrupted the whole network of sites. Whoops!
The site got bought by Univision and run by old media idiots who did not understand what generated its readership. They demanded the site focus solely on sports. The staff revolted, quit, and eventually started another, much lower-traffic site that will collapse the second Drew MaGary stops writing their NFL previews.
And then the old site essentially underwent the very Replacement Theory that its original writers simultaneously insisted would never happen and also that it should happen and is good. Even at the end, the old Deadspin's writers were intelligent, well-read, and reasonably funny (at least compared to almost everything else on the internet). Now they've been supplanted by a veritable rainbow coalition of scabs: black twenty-somethings who have never read an entire book, middle-aged hoteps who got fired from city newspapers after "allegations came to light," and white 30-year-old liberal arts grads who think socialism is when it's easy to get your dick cut off and fascism is when anyone makes it slightly more difficult to get your dick cut off.
Behold the horrors of time's march! The old left: neutered and paywalled. The new left: reactionary morons.

Since we're on the topic what is your favourite kind of romance heroine? It doesn't have to be one specific type just what kind do you gravitate towards.
Hmmm I mean, I love a lot of romance heroines, but I've noticed that I tend to enjoy heroines who've experienced life most of all or are very determined to experience it. This doesn't have to mean a widow in historicals, or even necessarily one who isn't a virgin (though I do prefer a non-virgin heroine over a virgin--and it truly doesn't matter lol, I'll read either very happily, it's just that like... if I HAD to choose I'd pick a heroine who wasn't a virgin, and the hopeful? series I'm trying to write does not feature any virgin heroines, which wasn't planned and sort of just happened). I just like a heroine who's at least somewhat jaded, who knows how the world works. Someone who is closed off.
I do love an ice queen. The lady of the manor, as it were. I also really love an unrepentantly sexual and hedonistic heroine--like, I ADORE this type, virgin or not. Someone who's all "well what happens if I do tHIS?" and very happily teases her partner. I think both the ice queen who's seen too much of the world and is tired of this shit and the very sexual heroine (whether she's done it before or adjusts to it like a duck to water lol) are preferable to me than like... The true babe in the woods innocent who's like "whaaaaat" at every single sexual thing that happens. Like, as an example of how you can handle this with virgin heroines--Evie in Devil in Winter is a virgin, but she's very naturally sexual and doesn't have an issue with adjusting to St. Vincent's appetites and is soooo into sex that she's the one who "makes" him lose the bet. And she's so practical about it. She finds out they need to fuck to make it legit and goes "yeah that sounds about right". She's not all shocked or whatever.
I love very feminine heroines, and will usually gravitate towards heroine that give "divine feminine" vibes over tomboy vibes. BUT THAT BEING SAID. I can get behind most heroines. Very rarely will I turn down a book just because the heroine doesn't seem like my type. I tend to love heroines that people hate. The only things I really can't do with heroines is:
--constant insecurity
--constantly mentioning how plain or ugly she is like shut the fuck up Mr. 6'5" stunnah with a 9 inch cock is railing you at every minute, I don't buy it, this feels like such pandering and I frankly don't want or need it
--subset: heroines who are fat and are always like "I know that because of my ample body he probably doesn't like me" oh my god this romance hero is clearly one of those guys who likes to see it jiggle get ooooover it (I say this as someone with insecurities about my weight--I just can't get behind heroines who agonize over it every other page, she can have body image issues without it being 20% of the novel)
--heroines who fuck the hero over but it's fine because she's the heroine and he's the hero and we never confront these actions ever (ex: I just a read a book I was really loving with an NFL player hero who was a virgin, and the heroine deflowered him, they fell in love, and this Ashley Madison type site put out a $1 million reward for a woman who could prove she took his virginity; someone steals hero's phone and leaks nudes of the heroine she sent him, and it's hORRIBLE and she's understandably traumatized and depressed, but she claims her power by TELLING THE PRESS SHE TOOK HIS V CARD without TELLING HIM IN ADVANCE so she can donate the money to charity???? And when he's understandably mad it's treated as this overreaction on his part??? And dude I am sorry but how the fuck is very intimate info about his sex life being shared without his permission okay???? Anyway sorry that shit blew my mind.). I find that condescending.
Heroines I love that I think sum up a lot of this:
--Greer Galloway/Colchester/Galloway Colchester Moore or whatever the fuck from New Camelot by Sierra Simone. Greer is so self-possessed and cool and smart, but she's also like, this hedonistic wild woman who is fully willing to "why not both?" her marriage. Lol some of the best parts of the sex scenes in those books are Greer in the background like "GIVE HIM THE DICK!!!!!"
--Neomi Laress, Dark Needs at Night's Edge by Kresley Cole. A total temptress(ssss) who flirts first and asks questions later, but is also out for her own (understandable) game and accidentally falls in love with a deeply damaged Conrad Wroth and is like "he is baby". Both tough and jaded and deeply nurturing once her heart opens up.
--Ellie Peirce, Lothaire by Kresley Cole. I love Ellie so fucking much. (And she's a virgin heroine, so again, I love all!) She's tough as nails (her epigraph is literally "steel magnolia? TRY TITANIUM") but has the vulnerability to like, cry and break down when shit gets really hard. She refuses to be disrespected. She's very in touch with her own sexuality and uses it to get what she wants. I love a heroine who approaches a hero that is basically the equivalent to a massive toothy snarling monster and like, solemnly buckles a diamond collar that says "BRAT" or something around his neck, and then he's just her bitch from there on out.
--Eleanor Ramsay, The Duke's Perfect Wife by Jennifer Ashley. A new favorite! I love her your honor! Very fun and nice and perky and confident, but has been around the block and isn't super quick to trust Hart this time around. (Even if they did have sex THRICE like a decade ago, as he constantly reminds her.) She had the dignity to expect better from him and dumped his ass without crying (in front of him). She also, unfortunately, can't resist that dick. And wants to take Victorian photographs of it. The dichotomy of woman. But again, this heroine who just blinks at the hero unimpressed and goes "down boy" is really My Shit.
--Sara Fielding, Dreaming of You by Lisa Kleypas. Sara really encapsulates a specific subset of heroine that I love, and I think this is probably my favorite type of virgin heroine, which is "local woman cartwheels headlong into mortal peril at any given moment while very growly man shrieks in terror and runs after her like she's a priceless vase that just fell off his mantle". Sara is nosy, she's not afraid to learn, she is naive at points but in a very "my b" kind of way, she super doesn't care about cheating on her wet blanket fiance when Derek Craven is on the menu, and she does dumb shit like go "Should I get bangs?" (Derek: I WILL KILL MYSELF IF YOU GET BANGS.)

Sugar Rush - snippet
Tumblr media
Rating: General audience. No ships. Juvenile diabetes, bullying, racism, and sexism. Incorrect medical advice. Excessive use of commas and run-on sentences.
General description: Remus helps one of his summer Cubs navigate how to continue in sports after a diagnosis of Type 1A diabetes. Thanks to @lumosinlove for the characters, @noots-fic-fests for the prompts and cards, and @hazelnoot-analyst for their archive work :)
Tumblr media
Remus sifted through his inbox, which was usually pretty quiet during the summer months before training camp kicked off. There would, however, sometimes be the odd e-mail from a parent related to the Cubs teams he coached, so he continued to check his Lions' e-mail everyday. Sure enough, today, he had two e-mails, one from the ice manager about when the Cubs were expected to arrive for their special arena tour the coming week. One from - hmmm - one from the administration forwarding an e-mail from Mr. Sanchez, father to one of the more gifted Cubs Remus has coached in the past three seasons. Lucía had joined their program as a seven year old, and now, at nine, was one of the best skaters and players on the ice. She had worked hard to catch up to the kids who had grown up on the ice, learning to skate as soon as they could walk, and she showed an instinctive grasp of hockey tactics and reading plays on the fly. She had missed last week, and he hoped this wasn't bad news. Remus clicked open the e-mail, scanned it quickly, then let out a breath. It wasn't good news, but it certainly wasn't as bad as he feared. Lucía had just been diagnosed with juvenile diabetes, and was afraid that she couldn't play hockey anymore. Remus fired out a response, inviting Lucía and her father to a meeting before the next practice. Then, he hit the books. Well, he hit the internet, collecting resources from reliable sites he already knew of and sniffing out some sites with information that might be more accessible to an 8-year old, and some resources in Spanish, just in case. Then he called his buddy Jake, a former NFL tight end Remus had met during his courses at Madison. Jake, a Type 1A diabetic, did a couple of sessions at the university each year for aspiring trainers on how to assist athletes with diabetes, and Remus had stayed in touch. He also fired off an e-mail to Luke Kunin, who had started working with the Madison sports trainers in high school while Remus was finishing up his program, even though Kunin's freshman year was after Remus' graduation. The following Tuesday, Remus felt ready to go. He met Lucía and Mr. Sanchez in the lobby, and ushered them through to his office so they could be assured of privacy. It broke his heart a little to hear Lucía look so defeated when she declared that she couldn't play anymore. Diabetic Mexican girls have no place on the ice, her doctor said. At that, Remus shot a look to Mr. Sanchez, whose jaw had clenched so tight, Remus was afraid he might crack a tooth. "But, you are from Honduras. Lucía, don't believe anything someone says if they can't even get that right once you've told them. Your doctor is very, very, very wrong." "The school says it too, and other players. Only some girls can play hockey, and not brown girls, and not sick brown girls. They say I will get a sugar rush and fall down whenever I skate fast. And they say I will get too fat to skate, only fat Mexicans get diabetes." "I am sorry you had to listen to that. None of what they say is true. I will keep a stronger ear out for that kind of bullying and ask the other coaches to do better too. That kind of attitude does not belong on the ice, in the locker room, or anywhere."
Then, point by point, Remus demolished the false statements, explaining that diabetes is different from a sugar rush, and that with careful management, Lucía can not only play any sport she wants, but excel at it. He shared the tips from Jake and Luke about how to wrap Lucía's new continuous glucose monitor and pump so that they were protected without impeding movement or insulin flow. He talked about nutrition and managing diet in the sense of being aware of how your body was feeling, and learning when and what to eat ahead of expected activities, and how to recognise a low. He shared his stories of working with Kunin, and how the whole World Junior team kept jelly beans in their pockets and on the bench, just in case Kunin needed to quickly raise his blood sugar. He talked about how the discipline and awareness of how her body is feeling that Lucía will develop while managing her diabetes might help her with the work needed to become a professional athlete, if that is a goal she decides to pursue (although nothing can guarantee anyone will make it to a professional, - and doesn't Remus know all about that, he thinks silently to himself - but diabetes certainly shouldn't stop her).
An alarm started to ring from the desk, and noting that it was almost practice time, he gave Lucía a handful of the temporary tattoos Jake had courriered over to him, some a simple blue circle, others the circle with the words Insulin Dependent written underneath. Then he sent Lucía off to change into her gear, but asked Mr. Sanchez to stay behind for a second.
"What your doctor said to Lucía was incredibly inappropriate, damaging, and incorrect. Is there any chance you can switch doctors?"
"I have already started the process to transfer Lucía to a pediatrician who specialises in juvenile diabetes." "Good. If that doesn't work out, please reach out to us here, and we will try to share more resources and make some connections with organisations the Lions work with regularly. Also, if I may be so bold, please report that doctor to the state board and the US Department of Health and Human Services. I have to head to the ice, but, please, don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have any other questions or concerns about Lucía playing hockey. I can set up another meeting like this anytime this summer. Lucía is a gifted player and a great leader on the ice, hockey would be worse off without her playing."

hiii i hope youre enjoying le mans rn! unrelated but id like to get into baseball and youre one of the only blogs i know that follows it, do you have any tips for where to start? :)
Hi hi hello dearest Anon! I had a great time at Le Mans, thank you, sorry for taking this long to answer your ask, hope you're still interested in checking baseball out!
I was drafting a writeup on how and where to start following the MLB, but @baiyunli beat me out to it with this primer that's better than anything I could ever put together—I'm a new fan myself, I'm sure I would've missed so many things. I used to watch it growing up, so getting back into it did feel 'easier' than if I'd gone in completely oblivious of the sport. I'm going to put a little addition to their wonderful post, some notes from my short career of being a baseball fan.
Under the cut: WHERE TO WATCH BLOGS TO FOLLOW NARRATIVES OF NARRATIVES: THE WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC 2023 RECOMMENDED FURTHER READING: BASEBALL, THE US FOREIGN POLICY, AND AMERICAN IMPERIALISM
WHERE TO WATCH
MLB.TV The official streaming service. A season pass for all team is now $60, blackouts and restrictions apply if you're located in the market. With a mlb.com account, you can watch a selected game for free each day. MLB66 (mlb66 [dot] ir) The layout is a bit unintuitive, but it's by far the best 🏴‍☠️ streaming site for MLB. Click on the Select Game button on the top right, and navigate to the game you want to watch. On the bottom right, there's an option to select the home or away broadcast. It can take a few seconds to a minute to load, but so far, it has worked well for me. FSL (mk [dot] freestreams-live1 [dot] top) My go-to for sports streaming. The domain changes regularly, it's worth joining the Discord server for updates.
THE TUMBLR FANDOM EXISTS, I PROMISE: BLOGS TO FOLLOW
There's a kind of nostalgic longing for a time I've never been a part of when I scoured Tumblr tags to find mid-late 2010s baseballblr posts: hundreds of notes, some reaching quadruple digits. Anything going double digits feel like breaching containment now, but there are still some blogs posting about baseball on Tumblr.
Here are some, sorted by their allegiance—by no means a complete list and it will be very biased, but it's a start...

THE WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC OR HOW A SINGLE AT BAT PERMANENTLY ALTERED MY BRAIN CHEMISTRY AND MADE ME FALL DEEPLY IN LOVE WITH BASEBALL
Well, two at-bats, actually, but let's not talk about that one and instead talk about the storied matchup, the one now written in immortality and will be talked about for years to come.
Baseball is considered a slow-burner sport by many, even more so before the official introduction of the pitch clock, 'boring' even on the surface especially compared to sports with constant high-octane action like hockey or basketball. But as with sports in general, among the things that makes the game so exciting (or devastating) is the buildup to the matchup—the storylines and the narratives, as well as the ebb and flow of the clash itself with how the game is structured—it's not over until it's over, a comeback to tie the game and a walkoff win is always possible.
The final of the 2023 World Baseball Classic is one of the prime example of all the stars aligning to make a historic matchup between the best of the best.
youtube
Mike Trout is a three-time MVP in the MLB, and is considered as one of the best baseball players of all time. Ohtani Shohei is nicknamed 'The Unicorn' by fans and experts alike, being the first elite two-way player (a player who pitches and bats) and is regarded as the most talented baseball player of all time. They are both in their primes and are currently considered to be two of the best players in the MLB. The term 'generational talent' tends to be thrown around casually in sports—for Trout and Ohtani, it's more than a worthy title.
Ohtani and Trout both play for the Los Angeles Angels in the MLB, with Trout being one of the reasons why Ohtani chose to play for the Angels in the first place. They've been good friends since Ohtani signed with the Angels leading up to the 2018 season. Unfortunately the Angels haven't found success despite both players being extremely successful, breaking long-standing records left right and center. Many consider it to be a shame that Trout and Ohtani were 'wasting' the prime years of their careers not playing 'meaningful' games since the Angels have not made it to the playoffs since their last appearance in 2014.
So we have two of the best players in the game, who happen to be teammates and good friends, playing in the final of baseball's equivalent of the FIFA World Cup on opposite sides representing their respective countries. Added to that is of course the novelty of an elite and truly one of a kind two-way player in Ohtani, pitching to one of the best hitters of all time in Trout.
The matchup was pretty unlikely in the first place too because of how batting orders work, and yet everything aligned for them to be up against each other in the top of the 9th—final barring extra innings—with two outs.
Japan were leading 3–2: strike Trout out, and Ohtani would win it all for Japan.
Here's the link to the full game on YouTube.
The whole tournament was such a treat all throughout, with exciting pool games, upsets, and rallying comebacks in the knockout stage. Two standout games for me are the quarterfinals matchup between Venezuela and the USA and the semifinals clash between Mexico and Japan. Both games were rife with gutsy baserunning and hitting, back-and-forth offense and lead change, and topped off by clutch plays to lead the respective teams to victory.
RECOMMENDED FURTHER READING: BASEBALL, THE US FOREIGN POLICY, AND AMERICAN IMPERIALISM
As much as we can weave romantics about America's pastime, it's also inseparable from how the US projected itself abroad in its foreign and military policy. My dearest @outofbodyinjury's research project led me to look into the history of the sport and its role in USA's long history of war and foreign intervention.
Starting from the 19th and 20th century as the game was growing and all throughout the 21st century, for example in response to 9/11 and the Iraq and Afghanistan invasions, baseball has been omnipresent as a tool to promote and serve US interests. The book The Empire Strikes Out: How Baseball Sold U.S. Foreign Policy and Promoted the American Way Abroad by Robert Elias dives deep into this topic. I have yet to find a DRM-free .epub of the book, but I will try to rip it if there's interest. Here's an .m4b rip of the audiobook, and here's a condensed version of the book: an article by the same author published in The International Journal of the History of Sport.
Once again: @baiyunli is the MVP for their primer, it has pretty much everything you need to know to start getting into the sport, so check that out. Don't hesitate to send me asks or DMs if you have questions! And I fully believe sports teams pick you: it could be through a player that happens to compel you, or the mascot, or the colors of the unis, or just for no reason at all. You'll know and feel it when you're chosen. That being said: LET'S GO PHILS!
And I hope you'll fall in love with baseball as I did :]

you and anon hit the nail on the head!! There are absolutely different rules for socials based on the person and Joe and Olivia clearly have different rules than any other couple! I do wonder if she is more in line with Bry and how she approaches being a WAG. I think BRY wants no part of the NFL life and supports Jalen behind the scenes and out of site. Olivia tried the WAG life but maybe it wasn’t for her and allegedly she got a new higher level job and maybe she would rather be behind then scenes too. Nothing wrong with that
Nope, nothing at all. However we still believe they are not together based on her missing private events that he attended

do you think this is real
https://www.tumblr.com/hockeychatstea/752038804655931392/httpswwwtumblrcomhockeychatstea7520248642459
oooof the sideline thing is weird. they get all their info from tumblr or other gossip sites and steal it and post it as theirs, no credit no nothing.
but this one’s new, haven’t heard anything about olivia with an nfl player so it makes me wonder, where did they get the info from? because it seems like a weird thing and oddly specific to just make up and lie about.
i would take it with a grain of salt, for now. nonetheless very interesting and to keep an eye on!
