I wouldn't be the person I am today without it as dramatic as that sounds. This show made me love sci-fi, it made me adventurous and it made me curious. Stargate is about hope and wonder and it gave me that.

my first thoughts of the human fear as typed out whilst listening to the album. warning it’s quite long and will make 0 sense if you aren’t familiar with the other albums (please let me know your thoughts and if you agree if you actually do read it i would love to discuss)

my official human fear thoughts:

1 audacious: been out for ages. i’ve listened to it to death and now it’s slightly mid still love it tho

2 everydaydreamer:. very right thoughts right words right action (rtrwra) which is my favourite album. some very fun vocal stuff and a pretty classic later era ff song

3 the doctor: also very rtrwra. i’ve heard bits of it before and it’s the one i’ve been most excited about. the riff in it sounds like a siren and it’s complete genius. it’s also got elements of the first albums actually as i get into it. there is a point where alex just says doctor for ages and i can’t wait to scream it at the show icl

4 hooked: this is the song that may be my new favourite ever (which is ironic because some of the lyrics are “gotta new obsession”) . just makes me wanna dance. goth/industrial vibes (which is my sceneeeee) cannot be placed in an album. but does successfully make sure this album doesn’t have a vibe like the rest of the albums (although i think that’s kinda the point)

5 build it up: this is very tonight (my least favourite album) but that isn’t a bad thing. it works as an album song it’s a very good vibe it’s boring for a whole album but works in just one song. won’t be a fav won’t be a skip. NEVER MIND INCREDIBLE GUITAR SOLO JUST HAPPENED. i saw an acoustic version of this song it didn’t prepare me for the joy the real version brings me

6 night or day: already been out a while. this is pretty album numero uno. it’s another one i’ve got a little bored of. not fav song potential but it is very good as an album piece

7 tell me i should stay: starts with piano???? very always ascending (the latest album) of it. yeah this could be literally a deleted song from always ascending. and it’s got a musicals element (they did mention that would happen) i’m really enjoying it tho didn’t think i would

8 cats: i’m not sure im a fan of the intro hmmm i think it may actually be about cats. the song it growing on my tho. won’t be a fav

9 black eyelashes: ooooh hello i like this intro . feels like it should be in a western film. someone on tumblr said this was a skip. it definitely isn’t for me. it is very different

10 bar lonely: listened to this earlier on a radio show. quite rwrtra but the more mellow type of song which isn’t my fav vibe of that album but i like it in this album. this song has my fav lyrics i think. it’s about an actual bar in japan

11 the birds: last song :/ i was kinda expecting a take me out vibe from the intro but it was not that. the guitar riff is slightly too loud and repetitive and it’s annoying me slightly. it has a lot of build up and the pay off isn’t that great. may be my least fav of the album. but it’s not too bad and the lyrics are pretty good but the whole song is very repetitive. needs more drums. but it’s a nice end to the album (although the last couple end of album tracks have felt very end of album and this less so)

over all summary: a very good mix of all of their different vibes over the years while also feeling very new. not the most cohesive album but it kinda feels intentional. definitely like it very good album
