A/n: there’s tumble weeds in my brain 😭😭 so here’s a lil blurb of you shooting your shot at Miles, I found the artwork on Pinterest 🙃

It was a regular Saturday in Brooklyn. The sun was out, and the streets were bustling with people. You had spent the morning getting yourself ready, making sure your baby hairs were slicked down your long nails clashing together as you worked, trying to look your best for the day ahead.

As you headed out the door, you made sure to say goodbye to your mom.

"Bye Mommy, I'll be back later," you said, giving her a kiss on the cheek.

"Okay baby, be safe,".

'I will," you shouted back, running out the door to meet your friends. They were waiting for you outside, and you could feel the excitement bubbling inside you as you hugged them.

To pass the time, you headed to the park, where you and your friends planned to hang out and do nothing in particular it was just something all the teens on the block did.

As you arrived at the park, you noticed the boys were already playing basketball, their loud voices echoing throughout the park. You and your friends immediately made your way over to your usual spot, where you could watch the boys play and giggle as they dedicated shots to you and your friends, only to miss them.

You talked about your future plans, your latest crush, and all the silly things that teenagers talk about. As the day wore on, more and more people started to show up at the park, creating a lively atmosphere.

But oddly today was different. As you sat there, someone caught your eye. He was a stranger but you've seen him around before, seeing him was a rare sighting. He sat with your friends and the boys that usually flirted with you and your friends. However, he seemed uninterested, too caught up in whatever was on his phone.

You couldn't help but feel drawn to him, and you found yourself stealing glances at him whenever you could.

Your eyes flickered admiringly over his sharp jaw, full lips, and the way his light brown eyes glistened in the sun. You couldn't explain why he intrigued you so much, but you just knew you wanted to know more about him.

As the day went on, you and your friends continued to hang out at the park, but your attention was always drawn back to the stranger.

Finally, you decided to make a move and approach him taking a seat next to him.

"Hey," you said,cool and confident.

"Hey," he replied, looking up from his phone before looking back down.

"I haven't seen you around here a lot."

"Yeah, I'm not really the crowd type," he said with a shrug , not taking his eyes off of his phone.

"Well, I'm Y/n," you said, holding out your hand a smile on your face.

He looked at it for a moment before hesitantly shaking it. "Miles" he said before looking back at his phone again.

"Must be real busy," you said, trying to engage him.

"You have no idea," he replied, still focused on his phone.

You took a chance and asked to see his phone. Miles looked up at you, a questioning look in his eyes, before reluctantly handing it over.

You took the phone with a smile, feeling a rush of excitement. You entered your number and handed it back to him, hoping he would take the bait.

"Here, maybe next time I can be the distraction," you said, your heart beating fast in your chest.

Miles looked at you for a moment, studying your face, before a faint smile appeared on his lips.

"I'll keep that in mind,ma" he said, his voice low and smooth.

You got up to leave, telling your friends you had to go. Miles watched as you walked away, a small smirk on his face as he bit his lip, shaking his head at the situation. He'd never really had a girl shoot their shot at him before, and if he wasn't interested before, he definitely was now. It didn't help that you were beautiful.

pathetic vent post lol

so the thursday before last, one of my coworkers told me she's quitting bc she got a job in the field she wants to have a career in. I was happy for her and told her so, but I also felt kind of sad, because she's a woman close in age to me and I've been thinking we could be friends if I wasn't technically her boss for a little while now. so finally near the end of our shifts (we were closing) I buck up and ask if her she'd want to exchange contact info and stay in touch and hang out after she left.

and y'all she looked so happy and excited to be asked that. absolutely 0 hints that her delighted response wasn't genuine. so she puts her number in my phone, and even takes a silly picture for the contact pic, and I send a test text and she responds to confirm it's her correct number.

on monday I text her about hanging out later in the week, with ideas. on tuesday I text her again, with new ideas if she didn't like my first ones. I didn't mean to double text two days in a row.

nothing.

I wait till yesterday and send her one last text, explaining that I really do wanna be friends, I am more chill outside of work and she's only seen Work Nina if that's what she's worried about, but that I don't wanna bother her.

it's been over 24 hours now, and nothing. part of me wonders if she changed her mind and blocked my number.

it's just really disheartening because I've had another person string me along and then not respond/continually cancel on me pretty recently. after my college friend group broke up thanks to the serial sexual predator (which is a whole nother story, dw he didn't do anything to me, in fact he refused to talk to me the first time we met when I introduced myself and tried to make polite small talk, and I realized several months later that he didn't engage with me at all because he didn't wanna fuck me 🙃) things have been kind of dire in the irl friends department and it's sad and pathetic and I thought finally here was a girl I really connected with, and she liked gossiping with me at work, and she seemed really really excited at the possibility of being real friends with me, and then nope... not a single response to any of my texts. zip nada zilch.

it's just hard... I was basically socially rejected by everyone in my film program at my uni, then I finally started to make friends at the jewish club and a serial predator with an apartment full of guns who sells stolen lego sets on ebay and does cocaine ruins that, and then I'm at work and now that I'm a manager I'm the boss of most people there and I wouldn't be close friends with most of them anyways and the one girl who I think I could be really close friends with fucking ghosts me after I was brave enough to ask if she'd wanna be friends. it's been like five straight years of rejection for me. I always had friends in k-12, I wasn't a "popular kid" but I was well liked among the venn diagram of gays, nerds, theater kids, and band kids and I had a lot of friends in high school. I don't fucking know what happened. and now I'm on meds that are finally giving me energy and happy chemicals so I wanna go out, I wanna do stuff, I wanna walk around, and I don't wanna be an apartment slug anymore but I don't have anyone to do anything with and there's only so much fun you can have by yourself. and I'm still too shy to go to a bar alone because I know I'll stand in the corner paralyzed by social anxiety. I'm trying bumble bff rn but I'm so shit at responding to people and I kinda hate myself for it and I'm trying to do better but I keep not responding to people for too long and yeah maybe my ex-coworker is stuck in that cycle too idk.

oh yeah and the whole past year of antisemitism makes everything worse because I'm deeply realistically afraid that any goyim I meet are going to be hateful hamasniks <3 so that's a fun lil bonus.

Have you ever read a fic/headcanon post you liked so much that it influenced your characterization of Odypen?

Because...I...I purposely basically shut myself OUT of the fandom until I had MY own characterization down because I wanted to basically have a read of the texts, and then have my own ideas/opinions.

I actually had so much fun with it too!!! :D I wanna ramble about it lol

Ngl, I noticed a SHITTON of like, "hivemind fanon headcanons" in the fandom. Or at least a lot of people sharing the exact same one.

And while there is NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT, I also know that people sometimes will just be a "Yes Man" with ideas and that MAYBE that's a bit of fanon. And that my own reading could be completely different.

I REALLY love this story/myth and so I just really wanted to go into it "blind". I even just RESEARCHED on my own. I have not read a single translation introduction ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ THAT'S how much I wanted to really form my own beliefs before anything else.

And I just had so much fun reading and studying and ANALYSING the texts so then I could really pinpoint exactly WHERE I get a certain headcanon from (most of the time. lol some headcanons are simply for fun and don't have too much textual evidence)

I mean...How many Penelope's have you seen that are feral? 👀 Who is prideful, snarky, reckless, stubborn, ruthless, etc.? (I HAVE read some angry Penelope fics yes! And they're wonderful! ...But that's not necessarily MY Penelope. My Penelope curses and says "Bet" before rushing at something 10x her size. Mine has a temper and WILL lash out. She was just extra careful with the suitors.) Yes, she's intelligent and patient and thoughtful...but Odysseus ALSO has those traits somewhat as well.

THEY'RE LIKEMINDED. BOTH are a person of "many twists and turns". It's why they're fucked up lil soulmates 🥹

There's a few HEADCANONS that I really love that I plan to use and try to credit the OG person though! Just that they're small-ish and not really a big thing on characterization.

My fellow fuzzy worm, Char, (@fangirlofallthefanthings) has OdyPen call Telemachus their lil "droplet" which is super cute.

Someone on tumblr, (I think it was nerdygirl2023??? Idk for sure though, I'll have to recheck later lol) mentioned how Amphitrite kind of helps Odysseus about the Oar quest which I REALLY love. (please let this sad lil fuck rest ;~; I want him in Penelope's arms PLEASE. If I don't go with that idea, Penelope goes with him. Either way, I'm not separating them for at most a few days.)

Other than that and maybe some small things from other works that SUPPORT my headcanons. (Odysseus' behavior towards Circe in Epic kind of supporting my "Odysseus is asexual/demisexual" headcanons, etc.) but most of my stupid silly stuff is from my own silly head :P

It's not like I don't like anyone else's headcanons lol xD It's just that certain things would not fit well with my lil weirdos as it would be out of character for THEM, you know?

Ngl, I sometimes get a lil embarrassed by how DIFFERENT my ideas are from others :') Or even just how few I've seen that are like my own. I love my ideas but it's like I'm a lil bee outside the hive where everyone else is working 🙃 I don't like that I'm so "picky" about my ideas but I just am ;~; (Especially about Penelope's characterization.)

I've seen some posts and "incorrect quotes" that fit my sillies but that was still AFTER I've established my weirdos :P

1. Though he’d never admit it to anyone else, Itaru’s a huge sucker for affection, and loves taking time to laze around with you, even if you’re just holding hands.

On one particular afternoon, things got a little…silly.

He’s just a silly little guy, though, can you even blame him?

Anyway, the two of you were watching a show together on his couch, which slowly evolved into being fully wrapped around each other, then turned into play fighting? Which wasn’t uncommon for him, surprisingly.

It’s hard to tell if it could be classified as “fighting”, though, since it was more of the two of you holding hands and pushing each other away.

Point is, it was just a goofy way of showing affection.

Somehow, Itaru managed to get his flimsy body on top of you, and he lifted your shirt up, blowing the biggest, loudest raspberry on your stomach.

You couldn’t help but laugh despite being so done with how lame and cheesy he is.

Overall, stupid lil guy has stupid way of showing affection.

2. One night, while waiting for him to come home, you found yourself falling asleep in the middle of grinding one of his online games like he asked. Yes, he needed his dailies done, but he also needed to realize that you were infected with tired sleepy.

After about an hour or so of your nap, Itaru finally came home with a sigh, tossing his things to the side before laying his eyes on you. An affectionate smirk played at his lips as he came over to where you were sleeping.

“Guess I shouldn’t have asked you to help me out, my bad. GJ~,” he said softly, lightly patting your head.

Just then, a terrible idea popped into his head. The only question was: could he pull it off?

There was only one way to find out.

So he maneuvered his arms underneath your body, barely managing to hold you up.

And the second he barely lifted you off the couch, his arms gave out on him, dropping you right back onto it, waking you up.

“‘taru, whaddahell…” you mumbled lazily.

“Ah, morning, love,” he replied sweetly, acting as if nothing happened.

“What did you do?”

His face didn’t even falter at that being your default reply.

“I tried to carry you to bed.”

“With your noodle arms?”

“Yeah.”

“You’re so lame.” You replied fondly.

3. The two of you game a lot(surprise, surprise), with 2D fighting games usually being the favorite. Or really anything you could label as something that would ruin friendships. Like he’d get rid of you over a game.

On this particular evening, you were playing one of said 2D fighting games, but you just couldn’t win a single match.

This was a common occurrence, but this time, there was a specific technique that he was using with his character that you couldn’t seem to dodge, no matter how hard you tried.

“How the hell do you do that?”

“Want me to teach you?”

Without waiting for a reply, he shoved his controller in your hands, placing his over yours to guide your moves.

“So you wanna move the joystick three-quarters to the left, then X-X-B. Nope, too slow, try again. Okay, left, X-X-B. Mm-m. Don’t tell me you’re not paying attention and just like holding hands?”

He caught you red-handed.

“I hate you.”

“No you don’t,” he replied smugly with a wink.

You did learn the technique, though. Eventually.

4. After each one of his regional tours with the Spring Troupe, Itaru wants nothing more than to hold up in his room and play games for twelve hours straight.

As if he could have that now that you were here.

The second he opens the door, he’s greeted by you practically tackling him in a hug, causing him to crash and fall to the floor.

“Hey, calm down! I was gone for three days!”

“Haha, you’re so pathetic. Can’t even stand a welcome back hug?”

Oh, two could play at that game.

He pulled your body down to join him on the ground, practically showering you in kisses, to both your embarrassment and delight.

“Alright, fine, I missed you too.” He says with a goofy grin on his face, his tone of voice trying to make it seem as if he wasn’t desperate to give you attention not even two seconds ago.

He’s the worst<3

5. On his days off, Itaru usually wears big, comfy sweatshirts to lounge around in(that you may or may not have stolen one or two of).

An annoying thing he does with them is sneak up behind you and shove you in there with him.

He’ll sneak up behind you, and the next thing you see is a blur of fabric before being held close to someone’s chest.

“Hello~.”

“Hi??? Can you just come up and talk to me like a normal person?”

“No can do, sorry. Gotta shove you in here with me. Can’t let you go unless you ask for it.”

Fortunately, you weren’t going to any time soon.

🙃 What’s a weird fact that you know?

i have no idea if this counts as a weird fact, but it is A Fact that a lot of my friends who do not routinely assemble furniture seem to know (we are constantly assembling quilt frames and furniture for customers at work lol) but!! when you're assembling furniture!!! Do not tighten every screw down all the way until all the pieces are together and aligned. Since most furniture is mass produced, oftentimes the machining can be inconsistent by just a small amount between pieces, meaning holes won't line up perfectly--but if you fasten screws or bolts just enough to hold pieces together without tightening it all the way, you can give yourself some wiggle room!! And then you can kind of fenangle everything into fitting together, then tighten it all down when youre done.

I've always been so scared to post original content on here, so for YEARS I just basically reblogged anything I liked or found funny (@voxtoria is my original profile) but honestly, this is the corner of the internet that I feel the most at home/comfortable in and so... I'm going to put as much effort into this as I do on Insta (which isn't spectacular, but it's literally the MOST I do for any social media, so. Yeah.) and we'll see what happens. 🙃

I usually start my social media accounts with the full picture of my pfp so people can see what it looks like fully, so. Here it is! 😅 It's a 16" x 20" canvas, painted with Apple Barrel Acrylic brand paint (from Walmart) and it's titled "Energetic Crossfire: Protect Yourself with Love." I completed it in September 2021.

The first picture is one I edited using my phone's photo editing app, and I really liked the result, so. I use it. Lol.

The second picture is as close as I could get to what it looks like in person. I used a combination of sketching, splattering, and painting to complete it, and it was a really fun piece to make. I am definitely going to revisit this idea again, once my artistic technical skilla have improved, and I am more able to faithfully represent what I see in my silly lil noggin.

Still pretty happy with how it came out, though.

I'm glad you liked that idea🙃......So that could be one big obstacle between Jake and Azure's relationship.Maybe he could wait for a chance , assumption: like when everyone in house has a meal (morning?) ,he specially makes food/prepares coffee , taking little steps like these to close the gap between their relationship.(Here again,it depends on Azure's reaction to it,since she's too shy)

imo though this idea(bike ride) seems too quick in this plot , having a li'l chat alone with him may further add trust in himself and there'd be more character development in each of them

Actually about that bullying part, I had the same thought but in a different way :D like for example he comes to know about who is bullying her by chance, ,imagine him getting upfront for his stepdaughter(right?), Getting all worked up and warning those people harshly (Idk how to explain this properly😅) and she comes to know indirectly from her only best friend/gossip etc/ that Jake was the one who helped her,again here a lil bit of trust that there are indeed good men (atleast Jake)

( I found the above idea I came up with,to be quite odd? I come up with silly ideas,that's why I didn't add this 😂)

Also the last part...oh my that's really horrible and sad, All the continuous thoughts about abandonment, loneliness and mistrust etc,(she witnessed death? I hope I'm understanding it right) would have been a few reasons for her to make that decision.....And Jake spotting her doing this?! My! I can imagine how terrific his reaction would be ,he will be shivering and will be blanked out completely for a second, but Jake must act quickly to help her out!(tho idk what idea to give you here for that,sorry ) ,maybe aftermath saving her ,in this case I'd agree with @aesthetics-crow , like someone much more familiar to Azure,(eg Lilly )trying to help her with the diagnosis and care , because I don't think(imo) Jake would give right and instant response in such tricky situations (I don't mean that he won't give react/approach her at all,it's just that he would be too sensitive to such things),of course he gradually talks to Azure,that he is right here for her,always... A steady process in the blooming of merry in her life

4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in? She's already a book and already technically a musical but I SO badly want just the whole Epic Cycle like an anime or simply animated, possibly like Castlevania or Blood of Zeus or something. Not as a children's cartoon. Those are fun but...I want real shit! >:D With the fight scenes! That's more with the Iliad but still!!!!

5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them? Quite a few, and some I've mentioned before but yeah! The Chain by Ingrid Michaelson as it talks about waiting for your love to come back, (it's a song that can mean anything but it works). And I like imagining it's her unweaving the shroud and getting more frustrated that she has to do this in the first place and with the big round of the chorus at the end, I like imagining it's her, stopping for a bit as tears well up. The Round quiets down, and she wipes her face before continuing to unravel the shroud.

It's a cover song of Davy Jones lullaby thing, and it talks about waiting 10 years for your lover to return and talking about how "You're kind of insane...That's hot." basically 😂 (It does get loud though!)

For MY OWN STUFF??? This is more in her youth but "Just Around the Riverbend" from Pocahontas (Yeah, I know it's a messed up and inaccurate movie but the songs, especially this one, are great), as the vibes and "I'm going to go fuck around in the rapids." is definitely what I'm going for with her. She's sneakier about stuff though.

And "When He Sees Me" from Waitress, when she first meets Odysseus. As she does not trust him and doesn't think he "really means it" and she's kind of making excuses until she can't and it's a confrontation between.

There are not many songs about sneaky women other than ones about having an affair which is so NOT Penelope :'D There's most that are about sneaky couples but never about one person that's still saying "that makes you cool af" you know??

14.) Fashion aesthetic!!! The nice thing about being a naiad is that if her clothes get dirty, a quick flick of her wrist means she can clean herself up really quick. And because of this, she does like looking nice and prefers clothing and jewelry that she can move freely in and won't "drag her down" while swimming. With Jewelry, that's probably smaller but intricate earrings, broaches, necklaces, rings, headpieces, etc. (she has a habit of breaking bracelets, idk why she just does.) And ofc, will often have items to honor Athena :D

I'd like to think it'd be partially why she is so into weaving (as from what I've researched Noble Spartan women didn't do that, the slaves did. Granted that was in later periods but I'm going with what we've got and even though I'm going with the idea of everybody just doing what they're good at, no gender roles are really considered.) While sewing wasn't something done in Ancient Greece, I do love the thought of Penelope basically folding the fabric in ways that cause a lil pocket for her to sneak shit. >:D Lapis Lazuli is her favorite stone to wear.

25. What was your first impression of this character? How about now?

Okay, so! Since I first into the Epic Cycle stuff with Epic, I had basically gone with what everyone else kind of thought of her as. Quiet, sad, sneaky...sad, 🙃 as... most depictions of her are basically her being a wife and mother, her crying while unweaving the shroud, Odysseus thinking of her which yes!!! All true!!! But then I read the Odyssey and holy shit, she's so fucking cool and I wish more people talked in depth about her own silliness and personality outside of those things!!!

The "Sneeze of Death", her staring down that one suitor who was all like "What??!?! Kill your son?!!? NOOOOOO" and just refusing to take his bullshit, How she grabs Odysseus by the scruff because "Uh, I love you and we'll get to smooching but what did you say about a prophecy???", not only because she WILL get the answers she needs from you no matter what but also because she KNOWS her husband will tell her. How she absolutely KNEW the beggar was her husband, (Ima write an analysis on that soon...along with Odysseus' "rules"....and how "You can have Penelope be a fighter in your fics... but don't you DARE make her fight the suitors without Odysseus there." essay thing...I have a lot :'D ) There's so many other little moments that shine through as remember, girly is STRESSED TF OUT!!! She's just been found out with her unraveling, she's trying to keep her son, herself, and her palace/authority safe. She is going through so much!!! She's so incredibly cautious!!! She's so silly!!! ioh;isdjk I really love exploring her and her character so much!!!

I’m gonna show something I used to do, that I still do rarely, or use as a fork in the road? Not sure how to explain it in words 😅

So, this is a photo from my phone, of a sketch on paper. It’s not meant to be pretty, it’s just meant to get an outline from one media to another media (I don’t have a scanner and even if I did- this is from a huge glue-bound sketch book and it’d be awful to scan). In short, it’s just easy to snap a photo and send it to my google drive.

Opening it in Photoshop CS (which is totally free btw), and going to layer > selective color, messing around with Grey/Neutral in the drop down, I can make it look like this. The reason why this is nice is because......

... This is where I create layers over it and draw over it. As if my photo was the warm-up sketch beneath it all along. I know it’s silly but sometimes I’m out and about, or I’m running around the house and I only have 5 minutes to pull out a _real_ sketch book to doodle something. That’s not enough time for me to pull out my tablet, lol.

Or maybe people have old sketches, or, just bought a tablet after many years and want to revisit that old art 💡✨ Whatever the reason 👆🏻

And the fork in the road thing- tablet or no, you can use the pen on the tablet and freehand over the photo on a new layer, or you can use the pen tool and fill (without a tablet) on a new layer (or many layers). That second option may take a long time though- trust me, I’ve done it in my pre-tablet days.

I’ve been wanting to try and share my process a bit? I think I mentioned that in some previous posts? Although I don’t think I’m the best person to learn from tbh 😅

My lil Octo here was intended for something, and I also had a good idea how I wanted to color him. You can see I added a ‘palette’ to my art space- I manually do this. I use the color picker to pick up colors from my palette as necessary and add more colors to it when I desire to. It helps me tremendously.

I don’t know if anyone reading this is familiar with RedBubble’s tutorial but it says something like ‘know what you’re designing for’. Basically implying you should be aware of area, dimensions, product, etc- so you can design for it appropriately.

It’s actually more difficult than one may think. I end up making around 5-8 separate image files to cover most of their products because of it 😓 I think I also do this to give people a variety of options. So it’s possible it’s entirely a me thing.

There are details you cannot see from it being shrunk- that’s a lil saddening, but it is what it is 😞
