KUSOU SAIKI

• ok hear me out... minecraft.

• saiki likes the simplicity and how relaxing the game can be, he wears his germanium ring whilst playing so he can listen to the ingame music without being interrupted by voices in his vicinity.

• saiki managed to watch death note before he could get spoiled mentally. he guessed some of the plot before it happened but overall he really enjoyed it. his favourite character is L.

• very reluctantly watched attack on titan after kaidou found out he hadn't seen it (the entire plot got spoiled before he got a chance to watch it, why bother now?). despite knowing what would happen he actually enjoyed it. especially the animation. his favourite character is carla jeager because she reminds him of his mother.

• mindlessly watches documentaries. he's doing homework? there's a documentary playing in the background. cooking food? documentary playing on the tv. walking home from school? he's got headphones on and is listening to a documentary. NEVER nature documentaries though. he hates them.

SHUN KAIDOU

• no one on this earth could convince me that kaidou wouldn't be in a thousand and one fandoms.

• i'm talking warrior cats, undertale, my hero academia, five nights at freddy's, bottom of the barrel fandoms, THE cringiest fandoms and by proxy a cringe fanboy (he loves them though).

• he larps (live action role playing). probably founded a roleplay group in his area.

• plays overwatch and thinks he’s hot shit because he bought a diamond account.

• has an absolute temper tantrum when he actually plays on it and falls to bronze 2. tried to main reaper to further his jet black wings persona but got stuck on lucio when playing mystery heroes once and LOVED using him, so he decided to main him.

• AND HE CLIMBED TO SILVER 3!!! he’s getting out of the trenches.

AREN KUBOYASU

• aren would def play league of legends.

• and he gets TOXIC as hell. just says the most diabolical shit imaginable. he has multiple accounts because he gets banned all the time.

• aren is in a bunch of facebook groups about motorcycles. i think that’s the closest he’ll ever get to being in an actual fandom.

• i lied in the above text. he def plays final fantasy and keeps up with all the lore.

• oh and you just KNOW he’s into games like diablo 4, call of duty and gta. ESPECIALLY gta.

RIKI NENDOU

• nendou plays minecraft like as soon as he gets back from school.

• don't get me wrong nendou is a fucking moron -- but why can he build the most intricate builds ever??

• like actual mansions, castels, and manors... they're really good??????

• and yet at the same time he much prefers to create dirt huts and houses made out of pure diamond and gold blocks. whilst denying he went in creative.

• is a part of a lot of childrens cartoon fandoms. the amazing world of gumball, aspongebob sqaurepants, and my little pony (his favourite character is discord).

• still actively plays baldi's basics even though it died off years ago.

KINESHI HAIRO

• hairo isnt actually in many fandoms.

• i mean he's on the move all the time, he doesn't have time to be in fandoms.

• loved the first season of physical 100 so much that he applied to be on the second. (he got in?)

• plays fireboy and watergirl with nendou (hairo is wasd because nendou can only use the arrows).

• kind of still watches cartoons from his childhood (doraemon and wonderpets mostly)

• he does enjoy the occasional comedy movie from time to time - free guy, friday, deadpool, central intelligence, you get the picture.

• apart from that, yes not much.

KOKOMI TERUHASHI

• is one of those girls obsessed with the sims. spends more time in character creation and build mode then actually playing the game.

• has a THOUSAND mods installed, but she has a good pc (courtesy of her brother) so it still runs well.

• born to be a marvel girl, forced to play with barbie dolls.

• is really big on collecting monster high dolls. she scours bidding websites daily to check if a doll that she’s missing has been listed. also makes sure her profile is public on there, sometimes people recognise her and give it for a reduced price. or sometimes free! being the perfect pretty girl has its perks.

• owns all the monster high movies on dvd.

• her favourite character is cleo de nile. she wishes she could act like she does.

• plays love nikki religiously. owns a majority of the sets ingame and bases some of her irl outfits on clothes from it, it’s like her pinterest. she’s one of the richest players in her region.

• i actually don’t think i’ve mentioned this yet, but she really likes monster high.

MIKOTO AIURA

• aiura, when not reading fortunes, tends to spend her time playing horror games.

• she's really invested in scp lore and even created her own scp original character when she was twelve.

• HUGELY into true crime youtubers. buys those 'solve an unsolved murder' packages and discusses theories on reddit.

• used to watch judge judy as a child after food and it’s still ingrained into her routine. she invites yumehara over one night for a sleepover and basically forces a watch session on her:

“hm?” yumehara watches as aiura fluffs up two pillows on the floor in front of the television, “oh! are we going to watch a movie?”

aiura looks at her incredulously, mid-fluff on the second pillow, “no, chiyopipi. now we will watch judge judy. since i was so busy with work and school im a whole two seasons behind!”

yumehara squints at the elderly woman on screen, not at all looking forward to this, “how long is it?”

“oh a couple of hours at least!”

she’s lucky she brought plenty of snacks.

• obsessed with vampires and any media that’s vampire related, she thinks they’re the most attractive mythical creature. (objectively wrong, btw)

CHIYO YUMEHARA

• similarly to teruhashi, spends a lot of her time playing the sims. she enjoys puppeteering the sims so they do her bidding though... it gets weird.

• YANDERE SIMULATOR. was an OG player for SURE.

• used to be really popular in the gacha life community before she just lost all interest.

• flits from fixation to fixation, she never stays in one fandom for too long. it scares her to be still.

• yumehara is absolutely an anime girl. especially romance, but she also likes action anime’s.

• when she heard saiki and kaidou talking about attack on titan in class she decided to make an anime editing account on tiktok (it got successful) and she almost FAINTED when she saw kaidou showing the edit to saiki during class (he doesn’t know it’s her).

• saiki does though, he actually thinks she’s got nice editing skills. he’d rather lick a foot than tell her that though.

OKAY PAUSE!!! because a famous steddie AU with Musician!Steve and Rockstar!Eddie!

Steve's famous from Broadway and he starts transitioning to TV shows and Eddie's just a little rockstar that got his offered his first acting job and was like, "Why not?"

You know how Hollywood gets 25 year olds to play college students? Yeah, it's that kind of show. In my head it's like HSMTMTS plus New Girl. So there's the musical element, they're living on a dorm together and it's a mockumentary following their college life.

The premise is funny and every episode they get into new shenanigans together. Steve's the character that does the Jim Halpert thing that he looks at the camera and gives a look like "what the fuck?" Eddie's the quirky, theater kid that pulls Steve into a song and dance number every episode. There's other characters of course, maybe a dorm neighbor that joins them in the shenanigans.

And holy shit, the fans are just eating this shit up. Steddie's chemistry in the show is AMAZING and the slow burn with the pining is so good. It becomes the most watched series in Netflix in one day, the site crashes and two weeks later Netflix green lights two more seasons. The fans want the second season IMMEDIATELY because they still haven't kissed after 22 episodes!

People start looking up this two like. How the hell did they not know that Eddie Munson from Corroded Coffin can fucking act?! And Dear Evan Hansen's Steve can do comedy like that? One person on tiktok does this little edit of the two of them in one of the press interviews before the show goes viral and the tiktok goes viral.

The chemistry in the show is amazing but outside??? OH MY GOD HELL FUCKING YES. The interviews are amazing. Eddie is relentlessly flirting and Steve's always just a blushing mess. They had to do the Buzzfeed puppy interview and Eddie was too distracted with watching Steve play with the puppies. The whole comment section is just full with screaming people about "DO YOU SEE HOW EDDIE LOOKS AT STEVE OH MY GOOOOOD" They did one song collab that was uploaded on Steve's youtube channel and it becomes the highest watched video on the channel after a matter of days.

Everyone just ships them. In TikTok they're the hottest topic and you'll randomly get an analysis of one of their interviews on FYP. Maybe some edits of just them flirting with each other or edits of them looking at each other when the others not looking. They get coffee together once and it breaks twitter. They're trending #1 worldwide within 3 minutes. Even the darkest parts of facebook where it's your cousin's mom's sister's aunt's neighbor and they're sharing snippets of the show and they SHIP the two gay boys 😭

The Owl House

This is probably the first time I'll be posting a detailed review of a piece of media that I like, so witness me sing all of my praises for this animated series from the House of Mouse, because wow, I've never been so invested in a Disney show after rewatching Gravity Falls.

For those unfamiliar, The Owl House revolves around Luz Noceda, a teenage girl who stumbles upon a portal to an alternate world called The Boiling Isles, meets a witch named Eda Clawthorne, learns magic under her tutelage and eventually enrolls in Hexside, a magic school where she makes many friends and goes on multiple adventures.

I binged this whole show in a span of weeks and even stayed up all night on my day off to finish it up to Season 3, the first 2 Seasons being on Disney+ and the latter on Disney Channel's YouTube page.

Simply put, I love it so much! I love how it reminds me of Avatar: The Last Airbender, Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, and, dare I say, Harry Potter, which it even poked fun at, at times. Well-deserved, considering J.K. Rowling’s transphobic views and HP’s underlying anti-Semitic undertones.

I loved the pop culture references to Thor: Ragnarok, Howl's Moving Castle, Metal Gear Solid, and even Hades, among many others! I thought those were very clever and funny, and just a treat for fellow nerds, geeks, and fans of fantasy stories, anime, and video games.

I love the LGBTQ+ representation all throughout the show, which was such a bold move considering Disney’s iffy stance on the subject. None of them were antagonized for it, and it was treated as something normalized in both the Human and Demon Realms. The show featured 2 gay dads, non-binary and aromantic-asexual characters, and one of the internet’s favorite sapphic/WLW couples Lumity, which is the ship consisting of canonically bisexual Luz and implied lesbian Amity Blight, whose rivals-to-friends-to-lovers relationship was just so wholesome, so natural, and very healthy, considering they're both teenagers. Suprisingly, there was very little melodrama, not once were they petty towards one another whenever either party did something wrong, and they never got tired of showing affection towards each other. I found myself shamelessly gushing over how cute, adorable, and supportive they were together, and tearing up a lot during key moments of their relationship, especially when they both found themselves in dire straits as the story progressed.

I love the writing and the character development of them all! None of them felt static, they all grew throughout the series, maturing, getting better, and healing from their own insecurities, trauma, and guilt. The humor and comedic timing was a nice touch, and I was really taken aback by how S2 ended on such a dark cliffhanger with all stakes raised to the roof, similar to A:TLA S2 and The Empire Strikes Back, as mentioned earlier. That season wasn’t afraid to have such a grim ending, with such a great payoff by the end of S3 which is worth celebrating.

I love the animation and art style, which blended colorful and whimsical with eerie and ominous in just the right amounts. As a sucker for animated movies and series such as Adventure Time, The Prince of Egypt, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, it was just such a delight watching it.

I love the overarching message of the show, which is to be truly yourself, to embrace your quirks, and never to limit yourself and your potential based on what the majority of society and the powers-that-be expect from you. All throughout, you’ll find the characters challenging pre-established norms and roles, and it’s just so satisfying seeing them all win.

11/10 top-tier show. Don’t @ me, it’s hard for me to find something I disliked about the series. It's definitely a must-watch, especially if you're sick and tired of all the bleak nihilism of modern adult animation, and you just want to baby your inner child and escape to a whimsical fantasy world with characters you can all relate to. Betting my bottom peso you'll all be hooked, like I was.

He's never really showed his emotions to anyone before, since he's stuck at a standard to always be a matured older sibling, and cause ‘men don't cry’. In which, leads to a lot of bottled up emotions.

Sure, he could go to Eun about his problems. But he doesn't want to burden his younger sister with such things, and just add more to the girl's slightly negative image of her brother.

You're literally the only person he goes to when it comes to that side. He loves you for that, too.

Likes talking to Gyuhwan about you, just as much as he likes to talk about his favorite anime.

He's the type to still believe in chivalry. One time, he sacrificed his white button up shirt during the start of one of your monthly periods, just so that no one could notice blood staining your pants.

Wraps his arm around your neck and kisses the side of your head regularly.

Cosplay as Saber for him. He'll collapse.

He'll let you doze off in his lap while he spends his entire night gaming.

He takes off his glasses and stares at you blankly when you make an obvious mistake. It's like a ‘stare of realization’ moment.

It's a regular occurrence to have a sleepover at the Lee siblings' apartment every Friday.

He absolutely loves how close you are to Eun. Realizes that you are DEFINITELY the one for him.

Drags you to bed when it's past 10 PM, even though he's the one that needs sleep.

“Sweetheart, I'm fine.” *Literally almost beaten to death*

You get used to the matured side of Hyuk, but you do also have to get used to his nerdy side.

Will literally invite you to every anime con near the city. And pays for all of it.

Will take 5 minutes off to wear a full maid outfit for when you two are about to clean something. Whether it be the dishes, your apartment, or some old carpet you bought off the facebook marketplace.

Eun also warmed up to you rather easily, to Hyuk's surprise. Maybe because you both share a small history of smoking in secret , or maybe cause you buy her free ice cream when Hyuk's not looking.

The two siblings (playfully) fight over you during sleepovers at their apartment. One over a trip to the ice cream parlor, and the other for another trip to the anime convention.

It would just end up with a short detour to get ice cream, and then go to the anime con.

He loves showing you off in public. Whenever anyone passes by, he wraps an arm around your waist and pulls you close.

He thanks his lucky stars on how he was so blessed to have bagged such a diamond.

His love language is letting you touch all of his manga, anime figurines (even the expensive ones), and even more.

Wraps you up in a blanket burrito, carries you over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes, throws you on the bed, throws snacks on the bed, turns on the laptop. Anime binge date.

Out of the blue, he'll smack your ass when you two are alone. It's become a regular occurrence, to the point that you get paranoid when you don't get that 11:45 AM booty slap in the kitchen and Hyuk's just right beside you. Relief drowns in your veins when he finally goes in with the triple squeeze booty grope 4K.

He'll do that thing, where he massages your ears and the slowly drifts his hand down the sides of your face and down your collarbone. Tingly.

Lets Yuri die from a lack of an inhaler, but he will drop all of his shit when he finds you almost attacked by a monster.

Will wrap his one and only button up shirt around you and even wipes the blood off your face using it.

Holds your hand almost all the time and keeps you by his side, will never let you disappear from his peripheral vision.

Looks so carefree and calm around the others, but once you two are behind closed doors, he's back to quietly rambling into your neck while you sit on his lap, consoling/comforting him.

“Yesterday, one of Eun's friends accidentally broke my Miku figurine.. It was those antique, one-of-a-kind ones— and Eun just said that it was no big deal?? As if it didn't just cost more than what I'd earn in my lifetime!”

Occasionally, he'll hold you up until your feet dangles above the floor and just lets you nuzzle your face in his hair. In secret, he's ravishing the fact that his own face is in your boobs. Fair trade? I must say so.

It looks spiky, but really, it's just really fluffy. Pomeranian built hair. Just total floof.

Tell me about the transphobia rhetoric this season

Let’s start with a foundation.  For social commentary, political commentary, any real world commentary to not feel hamfisted– meaning that it was just shoved in there for the sake of it– it has to connect to the narrative of the media that is employing it to at least some capacity.  There must be some degree of relevance; otherwise, why is it there? If it has no roots, viewers will often cock their heads to the side and wonder what the point was.  Such was the case with myself and apparently a lot of other trans viewers throughout season 4 of The Boys.  Unfortunately, it stirred more than confusion.

I have no desire to go back and pull verbatim dialogue, but there were (off the top of my head) roughly three instances where there was political commentary on conservative talking points about transgender people.  The first lines come from Firecracker and they're to some degree or another about “transgender mind virus/corrupting our kids/boys are boys/girls are girls/etc” any time she opens her mouth about it.  Homelander spouts two, one being about nonbinary people to a massive crowd during the reveal of Sage and Firecracker joining The Seven, and the other is a bunch of buzzwords he says to a room of politicians whose backing he wants for the coup.

Now I haven’t watched s1-3 in roughly 1.5-2 years, give or take. Other than in Gen V, there isn’t trans rep or characters besides maybe Doppelganger if they’re to be interpreted as genderfluid.  This means there is no interaction with trans people on Homelander’s end besides Doppelganger, who was killed off two seasons ago.  It comes off as random, especially since he didn’t say these things in prior seasons. Firecracker, as she establishes, just says whatever to incite outrage to unify otherwise lonely, aimless masses.  She uses transphobia as a talking point, but its relevance starts and ends there.  Its foundation to stand on exists only as far as that aspect was carried, but this apparent self awareness of what she does, and how much of it she even believes, was dropped as quickly as it appeared.  In that sole instance, it was the one time this commentary worked because it points out the grift behind the landslide of it we see in real life.  

Next, we’re going to talk about Kairos. The direct definition from Google is “a propitious moment for decision or action.”  In short: right place, right time. 

Right now, transgender people in America (and, frankly, all over the planet) are seeing an absolutely goliath-sized effort to strip away their healthcare, rights, and criminalize their existence in public spaces. Trans people are being labeled as sexual deviants and inherent predators by those who wish us harm, such as LibsOfTikTok who regularly engages in stochastic terrorism to proxy up a bunch of bomb threats to locations in the event they accommodate trans folks.  The public is gradually becoming aware of this rhetoric in particular, especially after the elevation of transphobia on popular social media sites like Twitter and Facebook/Instagram where protections are minute or, in the case of Twitter, completely nonexistent. This is often the primary commentary people see about us due to algorithmic decisions in regards to post popularity and, consequently, they start to believe it because there's typically nothing contrasting it. If you make a fresh Twitter account, you will be fed transphobia both on your feed and directly in your phone notifications until the algorithms learn that you aren’t interested– this happened to me first hand.  Because the idea that trans people are dangerous is growing, more of us are being attacked and/or killed.  People cheer for our deaths.  People celebrate it, even when the victims are children.  Right now, there is a serious epidemic of transphobia instilling devastating levels of fear in trans people around the globe.  

The last thing we want to do is be reminded and hear all of these things thrown back at us in any capacity when it is so current and volatile. The wound is extremely fresh.  In fact, the knife is literally still inside. To fling it around without solid contextual foundations in the show is to fling it at the viewer who has nowhere else to put it and therefore must hold on to it. There’s no connection from A, the delivery of the line, to B, where the line is meant to travel.  Without relevance, it’s hamfisted.  Without a relevance, it’s not landing where it’s supposed to within the confines of the show, and those who do not initially understand the struggles of marginalized people have no familiar in-show connections to draw upon to relate it back to the real world for the eureka moment this kind of commentary strives to create.  

The goal of political/social commentary is not to hurt the viewers you’re trying to represent.  Unfortunately, that’s what happened in season 4.  I feel the writers did not have a deep enough understanding of the social issue they’re trying to critique, and I especially feel like there was likely a lack of trans writers in the room because I do believe someone would have spoken up about the lack of relevance. All it did, for myself and many others who agreed, was slap us in the face and remind us of the knife that is currently twisting in our guts.

so to whoever wants to read this shit i think wendy doesnt work with anyone else besides stan. if you say "kyle can treat her better!" first of all stfu u kyndy shippers are annoying asf and second of all no he would not. he would clearly get jealous of other guys and he would be really controlling (not in earlier seasons) and lets just be fr for a sec... wendy would either fall out of love or get back with stan again because yknow they always go back to eachother. and plus an arguement between wendy and kyle would be ugly especially if theyre together, they both can get mad asf and the arguement would last ATLEAST a few days. and atleast stan can handle her disagreeing and yelling at him. now lets see who else shes paired with. i wanna talk abt wendy and token. first of all i dont believe wendy ever loved token because we never see theyre relationship outside of raisins. what i believe is that wendy only dated token to try and get stans attention because he did neglect the relationship and maybe she was attention-hungry. and now the final one i wanna talk to about is cartman. i hate wendy x cartman (more than i hate kyndy) because we know it would never work. she even said that she lost all feelings towards cartman after chef goes nanners. and even if you argue and say that they had good chemestry in that episode let me remind you that she ran back to stan at the end of the episode. she clearly hates cartman and clearly would rather killherself than date cartman. i dont think cartman deserves to be with anyone (except maybe yentl) because he's pretty much unlovable.

now onto stan, i dont think he works with anyone but wendy. lets take a look at style. first of all kyle has left stan several times before. he left him for token and he also never helped him with his depression in your getting old. but guess who was there to cheer him up? wendy was. wendy was one of the only people that didnt get sick of him in that episode and it really shows how much she cares for stan. and in you have 0 friends even though wendy was kinda being... weird, stan did listen to her and tried to edit his settings on his facebook.

also i wanna bring up... best friends doesnt = dating.

also i wanna talk abt stendy as a relationship. i think that they might be able to work as friends but as partners is when theyre dynamic works best. girlboss and loser bf. in all honesty stan and wendy might have the best dynamic/healthiest relationship out of everyone. theyve been shown to care about eachother lots of times and in the older seasons was when they really had their cutest moments. modern stendy isnt bad either, wendy is able to forgive stan at the end of the chat gpt episode because she loves him. and stan really cares for wendy too. he went with wendy to see shitty movies just to spend time with her and he also wrote a song for her. stendy is my absolute favorite ship and i hate when ppl make them cheat on eachother. stan would never and wendy wouldnt either. and one thing i noticed is that stan is loyal to wendy, sure he may have had a few crushes on other girls but, he never actually tried to make a move on any of them (except ms ellen) but through out all their break ups, stan never dating anyone besides wendy, which shows he really does love her enough to the point where he would hit on anyone while she was gone

theres 3 main people i wanted to pair stan with. heidi, bebe, and red. first i want to talk abt is red and stan. i feel like they would be more friends than lovers. we dont really see much of reds personality but we do know that she acts like the other girls. stan doesnt really interact with girls that much so we dont really see a certain dynamic between them. another girl i want to talk abt is bebe. bebe is an interstening character, she can be nice, outgoing and funny but she can switch up to be sassy and rude. stan and bebe are like the listeners/jocks of their groups. they both have their hobbys that go on the field (stan plays football and bebe is a cheerleader). i feel like stan and bebe would be besties shit talking everybody. and lastly i want to move onto heidi. i feel like they could work as an alternate incase stan and wendy have a permenant break up (lets be honest thats never happening). i feel like heidi likes/ is fond of stan. she went up to him for advice abt cartman and he's probably the one that knows cartman the least. and in the bracelets episode he asked her for glue which i find funny. and i feel like their love of animals would help them bond.

wendy and kyle dont get along prob, stendy is a healthy relationship, cartman and wendy hate eachother, stan and red are mutuals, stan and bebe are prob besties, and stan and heidi could work but like... stendy solos.

I felt a little bit bittersweet when this came in the mail the other day.

I came a little late to the Terry Pratchett fandom.

I first read one his books (Nation) probably around 2008 or 2009, when I was still in high school and saw it on the new YA shelf at my local library. I remember seeing his name on the cover and seeing that he was a "bestselling author," which apparently impressed me at the time, so I picked it up. I do remember liking it overall, though when I look back I have a feeling that I thought it was a little odd, and I didn't feel the distinct need to go out and search for his other works. Being a teen is weird, I was still developing my sense of humor and analysis skills and all that, so, like many books, I really should reread it now that I'm an adult. At the very least, it left some kind of an impression on me, because at the time I was in the reading frenzy of a girl who would shortly become an English major and eventually an English teacher. I've forgotten a lot of the titles and authors I read in those years, but for some reason I never forgot that one.

I really didn't think much more about Terry Pratchett for years. I remember seeing the news when he passed away, and I was like, "Oh, yeah, he's the guy that wrote Nation." But I'm an American, and though he clearly has lots of fans here, he didn't seem to have the kind of widespread devotion that he had overseas, so I don't think I realized until then that Terry had a hugely devoted fan base. I kept seeing more and more articles and posts about him, and I read some, and I remember thinking, "Wow, this really sucks. This guy was really loved. Maybe I'll have to look at more of his work some time." But at the time I was in grad school, and I was starting my career, and I didn't have time to read for fun as much as I had a few years before.

Another few years later, in my mid-twenties, I joined a couple of Facebook groups devoted to fantasy and sci-fi. I was still transitioning from reading lots of YA fantasy and sci-fi to more "adult" market fantasy and sci-fi, and I joined the groups to get some different recommendations. Terry Pratchett was one of those names that kept coming up over and over. When people asked about humorous books he was always mentioned, when people asked for all time favorite authors he was a popular choice, when people asked for favorite quotes his words featured prominently, when people asked for long series recommendations he was obviously recommended, when people argued about which of the Big 3 Terrys of fantasy were the best, he always won. You get the picture. And again I thought about reading more of his work, but I still didn't.

Finally, Good Omens season 1 came out. It must have been marketed pretty successfully because I really wasn't seeking it out. I love fantasy, but I've never really cared for the whole 'angels and demons' sub-genre. I didn't really have an opinion on David Tennant or Michael Sheen at this point (don't come at me, Tumblr), and I'd read a few Neil Gaiman books and enjoyed them, but I wouldn't have gone around shouting about him in the streets or anything (still don't come at me, Tumblr). But I'd seen the book recommended in my Facebook groups, and I kept seeing trailers for it and thinking it looked entertaining, so I decided to do what any book-snob English teacher would do and read the book before I watched the show. That didn't last very long, because I loved the book so much from page one that I immediately wanted to watch the show and see if it could possibly live up to the book. But I also didn't want to spoil the ending of the book, so I ended up having a pretty weird but ultimately interesting experience with Good Omens, where I would read a chunk of the book, then watch an episode of the show, hoping it would cover the chunk I'd just finished reading. It was awesome, and I'd go back and do it the same way all over again if I had the chance.

And Good Omens acheived what the rest of the world hadn't been able to do, which was convince me to read more Terry Pratchett. I did what everyone in my fantasy groups told me not to do, and decided to read Discworld in publication order. I loved book one so much that I couldn't believe it when everyone said it was perhaps the weakest book in the series, so I did what I almost never do and read eleven books by the same author over the course of the year. Since then, I've slowed down to only reading about four of his books a year, but I almost never read more than two books in a year from any other given author, so it's still pretty impressive. I've loved every one of them. I love the dry sense of humor, and the subtle and not so subtle social commentary, and every time I read one of his books I just think, "this dude must have been so intelligent." He parodies and satirizes everything, which is hard to do if you don't have a good understanding of the thing you're parodying first. This dude's over here making up parody fantasy versions of physics concepts, and I'm like, "this probably makes sense to a person who actually knows about science."

Anyway, he's now my second most read author (and he will be my most read author by this time next year), and he's become one of my go to authors when people ask me for my favorite writers. And the Good Omens fandom has become my favorite fandom ever since season 1 of the show came out.

I've been so grateful for rediscovering Terry Pratchett, but it all makes me a little sad, too. It makes me wish I'd read more of his work earlier. It would have been so cool to be a part of his fandom when there were still Discworld books coming out, and the fandom was full of nothing but hope and excitement for future books. It's sad to know that eventually I'll have read all of his books, and there won't be any new ones for me to pick up. I know I can always reread, but it'll still be sad. I'm happy at least that there are still so many cool people working on continuing his legacy in a variety of ways.

So, when I heard A Stroke of the Pen was coming out, probably late this past summer, I immediately knew I wanted it. At first, I thought it'd be a good book to put on my Christmas list. (Everyone in my family pretty much knows if they're stuck on what to buy me, books are always a win.) But then I thought about it, and I realized it would almost certainly be the only Terry Pratchett book I'd ever be able to say I bought when it was new. (Except the graphic novel version of Good Omens, which I'm eagerly anticipating.) So, I preordered it instead of waiting.

I probably won't read it anytime soon. I opened it up and read Neil Gaiman's foreword, and it made me tear up a little, so I set it aside, just like I did with Terry's biography when I got that for Christmas last year. But even though it's not the next Terry Pratchett book on my list, it's nice to know there will be another one waiting for me when I'm ready for it.

2. HERMES AS MESSENGER OF THE GODS: kind of a stretch but remember how the Marjorine character was created primarily for him to spy on the girls and relay messages back to the boys?? Also bro like hacking into facebook that one time, online communication is his bitch

3. HERMES AS GOD OF TRICKERY: Professor Chaos. That’s all I’m saying for this one. Professor Chaos. ALSO YES OKAY SO IN THE SHOW CARTMAN CREATES THE EVIL PLANS, but Butters usually will help carry them out in some way sOOO still a little trickster

4. HERMES AS GOD OF COMMERCE: remember when our sweet innocent boy became a pimp? yeah, that was an experience. There’s also the whole NFT thing in the future which shows how Butters has a pretty crazy knowledge of the market and how to exploit it for his own gain if he really needs to + in this he also mirrors Hermes’ versatility by adapting his business approach with every customer we see him speaking to. And in season 26 the guy seems pretty wise when it comes to getting a job and managing his money, man knows business.

2018 VoicePlay spring roundup — friends, families, fun, and fear

A busy winter for the VoicePlay boys rolled into a slightly more relaxed spring. Between various road trips and recording sessions, they made sure to spend some time with loved ones and savor their accomplisments.

3, 2, 1, Let's jam!

The boys kicked off their spring travels with a trip to northwest Arkansas for the VoiceJam A Cappella Festival. In between two days of workshops for high school, collegiate, and community groups, they headlined a concert on Friday night.

In addition to reuniting with Deke Sharon once again, they also got to see their friend Chris Diaz from The Exchange, who was the director of the only high school group selected for the festival's competition that year.

While they were there, J.None was presented with a card containing messages collected from fans around the world to celebrate him officially joining the group.

After the festival, the guys had a couple days at home to work on other projects. If you've ever wondered how Layne comes up with his various percussion noises and deft beats, sometimes they happen just to pass the time while he's commuting.

For the second week of April, the guys met up with Rachel Potter to perform at a series of private events, including a corporate gig in Hartford, CT. Since VoicePlay already had six collaborations with Rachel in their catalogue, and several more with other ladies whose parts she could learn, they had the makings of quite a setlist for those shows.

During their next few days at home, they packed in some family-friendly fun. First, the Castelluccis hosted William's first birthday party, complete with a barnyard petting zoo.

A few days later, the boys met up at a local studio to film their next music video for a song about perseverance from the Trolls movie.

Then it was time for a swing through the mid-Atlantic states. They started in central Pennsylvania, dipped down to Washington, DC, then hustled back up to Long Island, NY.

Later, dudes!

The last weekend of April marked Earl's final performance as Crush the turtle in the live Finding Nemo show at Disney World. To celebrate the occasion, Layne and Cyndi took Doris to see the show in the morning, then the four of them spent the afternoon at the Animal Kingdom.

A couple days later, VoicePlay scooped up Max Herskovitz to fill in for Layne on a quick cruise to the Bahamas.

Come play with us

While the others were away, Layne and Tony worked on a couple of upcoming PattyCake videos featuring superheroes, getting one ready to release and the next ready to film. Once their buddies were back on dry land, they lured J.None into their "Unexpected Musicals" series with the role of Black Panther and a tasty rap verse in their MCU video.

The day after that, VoicePlay gathered up some family members and headed to a nearby farm to film the video for their cover of Johnny Cash's "Daddy Sang Bass".

Side quests

The next week, J.None popped up to Tennessee for a couple days of concentrated vocal coaching (and a little sightseeing). It's important to keep honing and expanding your skills, particularly in creative fields.

On the following weekend, family and friends gathered to celebrate Doris Stein's second birthday party. They had a fiesta theme, and a bounce house that was a big hit with the kid of honor.

Layne, Cyndi, and the girls had also created another family music video for the occasion, this time to "BFF" from the SpongeBob musical, which they'd seen on Broadway while they were in New York for the Total Vocal concert.

A few days later, VoicePlay teamed up with one of J.None's other groups, Paradigm Party Band, and a few kids of their acquaintence to perform at a private event.

Teamwork makes the dream work

The next week, the boys returned to the studio to film their next "Aca Top 10" countdown featuring the songs of Disney sidekicks.

They finished off their video filming for the spring with a location shoot at an abandoned sawmill, where they created their own scene from an action movie, complete with a Panic! at the Disco medley as a soundtrack.

I saw a compilation video of Dorothy and Sophia's moments on Facebook and decided to watch it. At the time, I had just finished watching The Big Bang Theory and season 10 of Modern Family. This was back in 2020 when the pandemic started.

2. One storyline you’d eliminate?

Hmmm not really a storyline but an episode. The Empty nest episode...

4. Character you most relate to?

I always say this: I am a Dorothy with a hint of Sophia, who shares the same name with Rose, and badly wants to be like Blanche.

Hmmm As soon as I watched the pilot, I got hooked. But to be fair, it was really that one scene from the video compilation that made me want to watch it.

Blanche and Dorothy often go out together to escape the craziness of Rose and Sophia.

Sometimes Dorothy picks up Blanche from the museum, and they head home together.

Dorothy wrote a novel about their adventures but never got it published.

Blanche enjoys sunbathing on the lanai completely nude.

Sophia frequently convinces Rose to drive her around town, visiting places she's never been allowed to go and indulging in treats, making Rose foot the bill.

Once a year, the girls take a vacation to their hometown (for example, they visit Hollingsworth Manor or Brooklyn). Their least favorite town they visited is, unsurprisingly, St. Olaf.

Dorothy and Blanche have had at least one romantic encounter. Or maybe many times, many many times~ There, I said it… I love them together!

Imagine an episode where the girls are on a video call, like that one Modern Family episode. The costume designs would be great too! I'd love to see Blanche trying trendy clothes and getting criticized by the girls. Oh, and Sophia making a Tinder profile for Dorothy with the help of Blanche and Rose would be hilarious!

I always wanted Blanche and Dorothy to meet Vivian and Maude. That would be quite a dynamic encounter!

Jonathan Bailey probably joining Heartstopper as pics leak

Photos have hit social media revealing Jonathan Bailey is probably joining Netflix’s queer teen drama Heartstopper, and people are very excited.

The show’s third season started production last year and Heartstopper author Alice Oseman confirmed filming wrapped before Christmas.

Now, it appears that out actor Jonathan Bailey – from the brilliant gay drama Fellow Travelers and the upcoming Wicked movie – is joining the show.

Jonathan could be playing a version of a character from the graphic novels on which the series is based.

Photos have surfaced, purportedly from an Instagram account under the name Jack Maddox, that show the actor dressed very much like a character with a similar name from the Heartstopper-verse.

A character named Henry Maddox appeared in a graphic novel story featuring Nick and Charlie. In that story, Charlie develops a crush on the uni lecturer and TV presenter.

The new Instagram photos show Jonathan dressed in a similar cardigan, shirt and glasses.

In one photo, the actor is showing off a book by Jack Maddox and in another he’s holding a “Trans rights are human rights” sign.

Heartstopper fans react to Jonathan Bailey news

That Instagram account is now private and the photos are no longer visible. However, Heartstopper fans have been excitedly circulating them online.

Netflix was asked about all of this but the streaming service declined to comment.

Nonetheless, fans are very excited at the thought of JB appearing on the show.

“Whoever cast Jonathan Bailey in Heartstopper deserves a raise and a fruit basket and has my eternal gratitude,” one person wrote.

“Jonathan Bailey has loved Heartstopper and always been so supportive of the cast and now he’s part of it,” another said.

A release date for Heartstopper’s third season is still to come. The first two seasons of Heartstopper are streaming now on Netflix.

Hello Everyone!

Well, here we are 2 days into 2024! I hope you all had a very nice Christmas break.

As we welcome this new year, I'm acknowledging more and more, at a deeper level, what a blessing it is to have a full, clean slate ahead during this leap year - that we can fill up with all sorts of plans and dreams! I've been seeking The Lord and asking Him to guide all of my steps again this year. I'm excited to leap into 2024 and see what this year holds for me and my family! And for you, too!

Last night, as I'm sure many of you noticed, the Christmas movies stopped cold turkey on TV. It's always kind of sad to see them go. I watched "One Royal Holiday," starring Laura Osnes, until the Hallmark Channel left Christmas at 10pm EST. and went back to the 80's sitcom, "The Golden Girls." 

I turned it then to the last Christmas movie of the day and holiday season on Great American Family, "A Christmas Blessing," starring Lori Loughlin, James Tupper, and Jesse Hutch. Even though I've watched it numerous times since it premiered in mid-November, the inspiring message touched my heart anew. Otto, the Angel, played by Jesse Hutch, shares the well-known scripture from Ecclesiastes 3, which states, "To everything there is a season..." and the profound statement, "Time really has no meaning. Love. The Christmas spirit. That does." (see in the promo video above)

Those words stood out to me afresh as we are now embarking on a new season in life - after Christmas. We will cherish the holy Christmas season of 2023, remember it well, and hold onto the warm feeling, too, as we settle into the Winter season of January and all the newness each day has to offer us. Perhaps, we can still find ways to give to others, and that will be living out the true spirit of Christmas all year round.Holiday Road - Hallmark Channel

UPtv also released their schedule of movies they will be premiering in 2024 for both January and February. A few of them have been on my must-see list for a while, so I'm glad to see UPtv will be airing them. *See details here*

As for Great American Family, I noticed a woman asked the network on their Facebook page, "Will you be showing new movies throughout the year? Maybe some new series? I look forward to whatever you have for us."

And Great American Family responded with, "Stay tuned for exciting announcements for 2024 and beyond!"

So, I guess we will have to wait for movie news, but if you've been watching Great American Family these past few weeks, you may have noticed the mention (at the bottom of the screen) of a new series coming in February to Great American Family, titled "County Rescue."

"County Rescue" stars Brett Varvel ("Mayberry Man," "Running the Bases"), Julia Reilly ("A Perfect Christmas Pairing"), Tanya Christiansen ("I Still Believe") and more, and includes an appearance from Christian singer, Colton Dixon, who portrays himself. The series is from the production company, Canyon Productions, whose mission statement is... "Canyon Productions creates movies and series that encourage and share the Good News. Our ambition is to create projects that are uplifting and point the audience to God’s love." Many (if not all) of the Canyon Productions' previous films and series can be seen on Great American Pure Flix. Synopsis for "County Rescue" via Canyon Productions: With one paramedic opening, Dani Miller must set aside her recent heartbreak and prove herself worthy of the job while competing against the mayor’s impulsive son and an over-qualified rookie.
