If anybody wants to know what studying medical stuff looks like, it’s a thousand words, acronyms, insanely over saturated flowcharts, lots of notes, and caffeine 👍🏻

SO. If I'm months out from the only EMT class I can take, and I have no pre existing medical knowledge, you you have any suggestions on what I should study to get ready for classes?
Like books or YouTube channels or the like?
EEEE I’m so excited for you!! :D
Idk how helpful I can be with this as all my EMS knowledge and resources came from my classes (for some reason there just doesn’t seem to be a lot of online help for EMTs?? Or I just didn’t care to look because the 1600 page textbook was enough 😂), but I absolutely recommend getting your CPR/BLS for Healthcare Providers cert. It’s a hugely important start.
Aside from knowing what to do when someone dies, I’d say the most important skill you should work on is assessment. A good patient assessment is the foundation to everything you do; it helps you determine what’s going on and what the correct course of action is. I tried to find some resources, here’s an article that discusses assessment and explains it a little. I don’t have time at the moment, but if you’d like (or if anyone‘a interested), send me an ask and Hyrule and I can teach you (and Wild) the basics for an assessment :)
