Muunilist ten between engagements for the WIP game?
So this was intended to be for Fordo week last october but i got too busy and my muse abandoned me. Maybe I will have it done in time for next year!
I love Fordo, and moment in the 2003 show right after CT-43/002 gets killed and he goes berserk with a railgun lives in my head constantly. That kind of unit camaraderie, the loyalties between and closeness of a group of soldiers who did not choose each other but unavoidably live on top of each other, is what I wanted to write about.
The Muunilinst 10 on screen count actually varies between 9-19 and includes distinct classes of troopers (ARCs artillery and infantry) so I was filling out their ranks.
We know Fordo was their highest clone officer, as a Captain, and he had Lieutenant Stec under him. I think Seventeen was there as well, before he worked with Kenobi, before he got hurt and sent back to Kamino to train more ARCs, also a LT. There were I believe a couple more ARCs who I hadn’t filled the slots for.
Able-472 was a callsign for an artilleryman, and of course the casualty, CT-43/002 was infantry. My artist OC fic took place in a temporary Muunilinst 10 barracks, so Walk-Away, Roach, Driver, and Granted were going to make another appearance. Nulls helped train some spec-ops, so I assigned Copyright to Jaing and/or Prudii, even though they are probably not appearing.
And despite the fact that this unit served with a variety of Jedi Generals (Kenobi, Windu, Mundi, Yoda) I wanted to give them a “permanent” Jedi, Jon Antilles.
They routinely face Ventress, Grievous, and Durge.
Despite the focus on battle scenes in the 2003 show, I wanted to focus more on the between times you don’t see, the recovery and readiness, grief and care. The mundane things.
It will hopefully end up a short fic, but I do all this background work of who knows who and what their training is, what action they’ve seen, etc., to try and help it feel more real, have depth.
Just needed some more time to marinate, I guess!

The Muunilinst 10 and the Metal Team and Task Squad all get along VERY well to the bewilderment of the other Clones.
But really all it comes down to is Fordo, Soap, Ghost, and Sandman hanging out by the proverbial Water Cooler sharing the wild anecdotes their men get up to and Price, Stec, and Grinch defying all laws of death apprently

Teaching cadets how to round in math
Little cadet: “Seventeen how old are you?”
Alpha-17: “Twenty one.”
Little: *Doing the math*
Alpha-17: “TWO and ONE.”
Little: “Oooh…so you’re almost fifty!”
Alpha-17: “That’s right.”
Little: “And then you’ll be dead.”
Fordo: *gasps from the other side of the room* “Cadet!”
Alpha-17: “I hope so. Well don’t correct him he’s right. I yearn for the urn.”
Fordo: “NO-“

Just brainstorming here, but I’m pretty sure there’s three types of ARCs.
First, we got the OGs: the Alphas and the Nulls, like Ordo, Spar, Alpha, Jangotat, Fordo, those guys, right? Funny thing is, those guys are never assigned to any battalion, right? Fordo leads the Muunilinst 10, Jangotat led his own detachment, Alpha becomes a training officer and advisor, and Ordo and the rest of the Nulls are single-man black ops.
Second, there’s the promoted-ARCs — the regular clone troopers who get to undergo ARC training to become battalion-attached ARCs. I mean, Fives and Echo weren’t serving as one-man armies, as the Alphas were supposed to, right? They were serving as special forces attached to only the 501st! Same with Jesse. So while the original ARCs are the single-man fighters, these ARCs are the ground troop fighters, serving with the infantry.
Finally, not so sure about this, but I’m pretty sure the third type of ARCs are the clone commanders and captains, like Cody and Rex. After he got back from Jabiim and all, Alpha started teaching a class of some command skills he thought the clone officers could use for commanding their respective units. Sure, these guys weren’t called ARCs, but I think it would be a similar function to how the 101st Airborne has “STRAC”, or how US military officers go through the Leavenworth school.
I started thinking about this because Commanders Colt, Blitz, Havoc, and Hammer are all supposed to be ARC troopers, but there just weren’t any ARC commanders, and also assigning 4 ARCs to one battalion seems like a bit of a waste.

I'm gonna blow your guys' minds a bit.
So I've asked if folks knew Denal, and turns out, a lot people did remember Denal, the early TCWs sergeant under Captain Rex.
...
Now, do you know who Able is?
Tumblr media
(Image taken from Wookieepedia)
This is CT-1707 "Able", a comic-verse clone trooper who missed Order 66 entirely, by being stranded on the planetoid "Lubang Minor", for 20 odd years.
Only to be rediscovered by the Rebellion on accident, as Able had mistaken Stormtroopers for clones.
He joined the Rebellion, when Luke Skywalker introduced himself as "Jedi General Skywalker"... yeah, Able was out of it that long; he full on started following Luke.
So if you want ever wanted to speculate on who would've been Luke's Clone Commander / Captain--well, here he is, Able.
( Unfortunately, Able got attacked by rakghouls and became one. He's technically the only other surviving "clone" if we count Kix... but uh, being a perma-werealien probably puts a damper on the reunion).
CT-1707 was under command of Shaak-Ti during the lore Clone Wars...
... But personally, I like to combine him with another clone character...
Tumblr media
( Image taken from Wookieepedia)
Meet CT-472 "Able", who was a the battle of Muunilinst (the first campaign of the Clone Wars, but only depicted in 2003 TCWshow).
( The Muunilinst 10 were led by Fordo-77, one of the AlphaGen, and fought alongside Obi-Wan Kenobi)
Because of the similarities in names, I like to combine the two into one full character. THe number discrepency doesn't mean much, because I'm pretty certain that all clone troopers have a much larger number sequence anyway but Identify as the smaller or significant group for ease of identification. ( And Echo has two numbers too )
Meaning he would be Able-472-1707, or maybe Able-1707-472.
If I were to bring Able into the Clone Wars (2007) based on information provided, I'd say that he would've been a 212th Clone Trooper, and one of the few that's been around since the beginning. But he (akin to Gregor) would've been accidentally stranded whilst on-mission under Shaak-Ti.
Damn 212th, stop losing your troopers.

Artists Unknown
for MizGoat for the 2022 Star Wars Rarepair Exchange
rated E, clone OC/clone OC, no archive warnings, Casual albeit meaningful hookup sex, oral/anal/rimming, bittersweet ending
“If you’re here to once again give me shit for the way I wax poetic about the talents and artistic muse of that karking mama’s boy, Roach, I know, alright! You can kriff right off.”
Silence stretches and Walk-Away looks up from his seat, eyes widening as he sees trademark artistic touches of the man in question embellished throughout this clone’s armor paint. He’d heard a rumor that that unit might be coming through this refueling station near the same time as theirs, but his brothers had all heard it too, and they haven’t given him a moments’ peace since.
“I-I only meant—
“I see my reputation precedes me,” the clone says with a sarcastic lilt to his smile and one deep dimple winking. Walk-Away stammers wordlessly, and he adds, “As does your own.”
“—what?”
“Oh, I can’t turn my head without someone talking about how fierce flames and inspiring terror in the hearts of our enemies is better than dumb jokes,” he laughs.
“There’s nothing wrong with your art!” Walk-Away defends, wrong-sided.
The smile widens as if to say the other artist knows.
Walk-Away blushes.
“Well, I guess the rumors do hold water; you’re truly a fearsome terrifying badass for sure,” the mama’s boy says, teasingly sarcastic.
Walk-Away’s blush turns blotchy and embarrassed.
“Yeah, well!” he begins, hackles raised, then deflates. “You’re certainly a son of a kaminoan,” he says, but his heart isn’t in the insult.
the dropship nose art in question:

for @threetinyshinies's May I Prompt You? event Day 9: Hevy!!
The paint is inspired by @meridiansdominoes fic, Dominoes!
[ID: An edit of clone trooper Hevy from The Clone Wars. It is from the 2003 Clone Wars series. He is hefting a Z-6 rotary cannon. His armor and helmet are decorated with flames. There is a gunship visible behind him, and you can see the legs of two Alpha-class ARC Trooper Lieutenants behind him. Hevy's thumb is on the trigger of the Z-6, and his other hand is holding the handle on the top of the handheld cannon. End ID]
