Thanks so much for the ask! 🙂 My answers are going to be very similar to those from the last time I got this ask (here’s the link): namely, this is always a hard question for me because I really do love and am proud of every story I write, but I am especially proud of my two main large-scale epics/series, The Book of Gand and The Lasan Series, because of all the time and effort they took (and still are taking).

To get the number up to five, I’d like to also mention three series of miscellaneous, unconnected short stories, featuring various characters and genres, that I wrote for the Kessel Run Challenge held each year for the last three years at TheForce.net’s Fanfic forum, hosted by the excellent ViariSkywalker.. This is one of those challenges where writers have to write for a new prompt each week for ten weeks, but also have a large-scale prompt for a longer story that they have to complete within twelve weeks. Viari’s prompts are tough, so I am very proud of the work I did for her challenge—and particularly for the long stories I wrote for each, which turned out to be about my Rose Evergreen crew and have fleshed them out a great deal. Here they are:

Rose’s Eleven (2022); long story, The Rose between the Worlds (5+1)

Rose Garden, Evergreen Forest (2023); long story, T Minus Rose (Note: This series was the first thing I wrote after the death of my father in November 2022 and contributed a lot to the healing process. It is dedicated to his memory.)

Purple, Rose, and Gold (2024); long story, In You the Roses Speak (epistolary)

Talking with a mutual about story and fic ideas is so important, dude. I am realizing now my love for old, unfinished WIPs can be rekindled as easily as going over little plot details and them giving you feedback or sharing in your excitement, cause BOOM, now I wanna update something .... maybe... someday... ehehe.

This goes for comments too, and detailed fic reviews like some of ya'll dish out to fic writers and we love that shit. Eat it up. Of course, you might say it all has to do with serotonin or our egos, but you can't deny no matter who you are, you appreciate it when someone notices or likes something you have done. Maybe pride is involved, but I don't think there's any shame in being proud of something you yourself created, either.

Anyway, THANKS.

WIP Whenever

Tagged by the lovely @lasatfat, who also created the image. Thank you so much! 😊 Here is an excerpt from what I’m working on now—the tale of an unlikely friendship between a puffer pig and a knobby white ice spider:

“Oh blast, oh blast,” he said to himself. “Oh blast, this is it for me. I’m never going to find the aurodium stash, I’ll never get out of this cold, cramped cave ever again, and I’ll probably be eaten alive by that… thing over there. I wish I’d at least made it back to Nar Shaddaa; even if Azmorigan’s going to turn me into bacon, I’d at least be able to move around and breathe! Er… Help!” he yelled at the top of his voice. “Help! Someone! HELP!” He paused and hazarded another glance at the large spider. To his absolute surprise, it was still staring at him motionlessly and had not made a single move to eat him. Instead, the gleam in its dark red eyes now seemed… quizzical? Puzzled? And then, to Whilbs’s even greater surprise, the spider spoke. “What’s wrong?” it asked. “What are you doing?” “I’m… I’m stuck! I can’t move!” Whilbs left it at that, not feeling that this was the time or place to get into the mechanics of dropping adrenaline levels causing deflation.  “Well, why didn’t you say so?” replied the spider, waving a leg expressively. “Here, would it help if I gave you a push?” “Um, okay…” Not what he’d expected by any means, but he wasn’t about to refuse. Especially since it was starting to get stuffy.  The creature lifted two of its front legs. Whilbs couldn’t stifle a shudder as it placed them on his shoulders, directly above where his forelegs dangled.  “All right,” the spider said. “One, two, and… three!”
